--Last telex conversation between London and the Falklands during the Argentine invasion
Hello NS! I’ve been on the forums for a few years but I’m starting fresh with a new nation. I’m looking to begin that fresh start with an RP heavily influenced by the RL Falklands War and the tone of the Ace Combat games. I’m looking to see what sort of interest exists for other nations to participate.
The plot will center around the small, peaceful nation of Saint Georgia Island (which is a puppet account of mine), an island which was formerly a colony of the Kingdom of Avon and is now part of its Commonwealth. The island is invaded by the nearby nation of Caledonia (an NPC nation, unless someone makes a convincing case for taking over as the antagonist). The RP will be the story of the invasion, the island’s resistance against the occupiers, and ultimately of its liberation.
I’ve envisioned this as being around the intensity level of the Falklands War, on a slightly larger scale. The island’s defenses are around 500 soldiers, half of those local defense forces, and a handful of fighter jets. The Avonian fleet which will liberate the island will have a single aircraft carrier and some escorting warships. I’d also like to avoid too much outside military involvement - this is an International Incident but not one that would logically demand the deployment of massive fleets or armies. If you want to support the Caledonians, sending a squadron of fighter jets or some military advisors would make more sense than a huge deployment.
Character-level roleplaying ideas are welcome - Saint Georgia Island a beautiful tourist destination and astride major shipping routes, so there’s plenty of reasons for various foreign nationals to be present at the time of the invasion.
