"Not long ago, the United States of America was a nation of vast opporunity and promise. As the world burned in the fires of the Weltkrieg, US citizens enjoyed an era of peace and prosperity beyond compare. Through subversion, stalling, and fillibustering, US intervention in the Great War was effectively paralyzed. By 1919, American citizens would wake to newsreels of German soldiers marching into Paris. In Europe, the Weltkrieg was over, but in the Americas, our misfortune had only just begun. By the time the dust had settled, Eastern Europe was marching to the beat of the Kaiserreich, and Western Europe stood dominated by revaunchist Syndicalist powers. As one of the few remaining Democracies, the US was truely alone.

As poverty gripped the Land of Liberty, young radicals left the home country to fight in the many civil wars abroad. When they returned to an emaciated United States, they were eager to spark the embers of civil discontent into the all consuming fire of revolution. With syndicalist uprising following in the wake of cascading economic collapse, a gridlocked congress saw no other means but to order MacArthur, the American Caeser, to seize control of the apparatus of state, and return order to the home country. These would prove to be the final spasms of a doomed nation.

By the end of that year, Louisana Governer Huey Long addressed the American citizenry, and in infamous radio speach, called the United States a "Dead Nation". Rallying to his cause, several states rejected Washington's dictates, and formed the American Union, vowing to root out the corrupt Federal government that had brought the country to ruin. This move was soon followed by Syndicalist elements who seized Chicago and the Great Lakes area as the Combined Syndicates of America. Fearing fighting would spill over into the West, the Pacific states left the union and marched their Regiments Eastwords to secure the border and to restore Democracy to the United States. Almost overnight, one of the worlds last remaining Republics collapsed into the Revolutionary Chaos that had claimed Russia, Britain, and France a decade earlier. Brother took up arms against Brother, and cities across the nation were turned into blazing warzones. More bitter words were never spoken;

Second American Civil War.

The shattered Federal Government is now limited to encircled areas and Military divisions loyal to MacArthur and Congress, beset on all sides, we Federalists are fighting in desperate retreat in an attempt to safeguard out supply lines to other loyal states in the Midwest. Hounded day and night through the smoldering ruins of our nations former glory, our cause seems long lost. But we think back to 1776, to Washington, his armies swept from New York and New Jersey by the Redcoats, only to return across the icy Delaware and against all odds deliver a glorious victory at Trenton. Our fathers fought on, and so shall we. We will unite against these rebels, and return the rule of law to our great nation. We will fight on! So rally to the flag, men! For our homes, our families, and our future. We will fight on, as our fathers did. We proclaim this sacred oath! Down with the traitors, up with the Stars! Down with the Traitors, Up with the Stars!"

-Major General James Woods, 1st Infantry Division, 1937

Welcome to Kaiserreich, Legacy of the Weltkrieg: 2nd American Civil War.
For those unfamilar with the lore of Kaiserreich, I will be providing a brief summary here so that you can understand the context behind this roleplay. This will not be indepth and only cover major points and points needed to know in order to understand this roleplay. If you wish to know more, I highly suggest looking up their wiki.

With the occupation of France by the German Empire in 1919, the Great War would drag on until 1921 when the United Kingdom signed the "Peace with Honor" ending the war once an for all. The peace would see Germany maintain the gains it took in the Brest-Litovsk treaty and gain Luxembourg, part of eastern Belgium, and part of Eastern France. Shortly following this, France would fall into anarchy and revolution, culminating in the declaration of a French Commune. Led by Syndicalists, followers of a Left Wing ideology based upon representation and government through Trade Unions and "Syndicates", the Commune would overthrow the French Republic, forcing the National Government to flee to Algeria. In 1925, a coal workers strike in Wales would turn into a full blown revolution, leading to Britian Syndicalists and Socialists to march on London and capture the capital in that year. The British Royal Family and UK Government would flee to Canada while in the home isles the Union of Britain would be declared. In Italy, revolution against the Austro-Hungarians (Who had occupied the Italian Peninsula after the Peace with Honor and planned to split the former Kingdom up into Duchies) would lead to the formation of a rival Italian Republic led by Republicans and a Socialist Republic of Italy led by Socialists. In the south, the Austrian established Papal State and Kingdom of Two Sicilies would throw out Austrian influence and establish themselves as independent nations. In the east, the Russian Civil War would end in a White Victory after the German Empire intervened and crushed the Bolsheviks, killing many Soviet leaders such as Stalin, Lenin, and Trotsky.

By 1936, the World was split between the International (Made up of the French Commune, Union of Britain, and Socialist Republic of Italy), the Reichspakt (Made up of the German Empire, its colonies including those seized from the French and British following their revolutions, and puppet governments established in Belgium, Ukraine, Belorussia, the Baltic, and Lithuania.), The Entente (Made up of many British Commonwealth nations such as the Australasian Union, South Africa, the West Indies Federation, the Dominion of India, and Governments in Exile including the Commonwealth of Canada, the French Republic, Sardinia where the Italian Kingdom fled, and Portugal), the Austro-Hungarian Empire (Composed of five autonomous regions; the Austrian Empire, the Kingdom of Hungary, Illyria, Bohemia, and Galicia-Lodmeria along with an alliance with the Italian Republic and Albania.), and the various independent powers such as the Russian State (A far right state under the control of the Vozhd Sakinov), the Japanese Empire with its puppets in Vladivostok (The Transmur Republic, a Russian successor state) and Manchuria (The Republic of China, often called the Fengtian Government), and many other nations. The world is divided along ideological lines, and tensions grow as each faction gears up for war.

The World in 1936, in Kaiserreich

The year is 1938 and the United States has been embroiled in a terrible civil war for a year now which has claimed close to a million dead and shows no sign of stopping. Started by Congress inviting General MacArthur to take control of the Nation in an emergency government after the election of Syndicalist Jack Reed in the 1936 election, the war has split the former United States into four factions. Now these factions vye for control of Americas capital, Washington.

The Federalists, loyal to MacArthur and to Congress, attempt to restore the United States Federal Government to power. Their forces are split between the Midwest, where the temporary capital of Denver is location, and the Eastern Pocket where they attempt to hold control over Federal Capital of Washington D.C. Fighting multiple enemies including the rebel CSA and American Union State, along with the seperatist Pacific States and the Mexican invasion from the south, the Federalist cause seems hopeless. But those who fight under the Stars and Stripes have yet to give up hope, and will defend their territory to the last man.

The Combined Syndicates of America, a coalition of Socialists, Syndicalists, Communists, and everything under the Left wing fighting for the establishment of a Socialist State in the United States. Champion of the worker and the oppressed, the CSA controls the vital Great Lakes region with its strong industrial base and important northeastern states such as Pennsylvania and New York City. Their main enemies are the Federalists in the west and around the Eastern pocket and the Unionists to the South. With a strong industrial base, large manpower reserve, and access to foreign aid from the International Alliance, the CSA is one of the main contenders for victor in the war.

The Unionists, members of the American Union, are a coalition of right wing groups and fighters, ranging from center-right conservatives from the former Democratic party to the dictatorial Longists, the Corporists and the far right Silver Legion and Klu Klux Klan. With a large support base in the south, the Unionists have one of the larger populations of the American Factions, but with a weaker industrial base in comparison to the CSA. What they lack in material and industrial strength, the Unionists make up for in fighting spirit as they are rallied on to defeat the Corrupt Federalists and evil Syndicalists. Their main enemies had been the Federalists and Syndicalists, but now a third front has opened up with the Mexican Invasion.

Finally, the fourth unofficial catchall faction, is the Volunteers. The world is split between various power blocs; the International, the Reichspakt, the Entente, etc. etc. Each of these blocs has a vested interest in seeing an American nation friendly to their interests win this war, and so hundreds of thousands of men and weapons have been shipped overseas to fight as volunteers. The main powers sending volunteers would be the; Commune of France, Union of Britain, and Socialist Republic of Italy providing volunteers to the CSA. German Empire, Canadian Commonwealth, Austrian Empire, and French Republic providing volunteers to the Federalists. Russian State, Mongolian Khanate, and Brazil providing volunteers to the American Union; and Japan providing volunteers to the Pacific States of America. With all of these volunteers, bringing with them equipped such as rifles, planes, and tanks; the American Civil War has become an international battlefield between ideologies and factions vying for control over the future of America.

You, the Player, shall take control of a platoon of soldiers from one of these six (seven) factions and fight for your side. Shall you restore the Rule of Law as a Federalist, Break the Chains as a Syndicalist, Root out the Corrupt as a Unionist, or perhaps support your bloc as a volunteer unit fighting far from home in a distant land. That, my friend, is up to you. No matter what side you chose, you'll be taking part in a battle to decide the fate of America.

Platoon Leader

Name: Lieutenant Anthony Scalleta
Age: 27
Nationality: American
Appearance 5'7 with dark almost black hair and bright blue eyes.
Ethnicity: Italian-American
Biography: Anthony Scalleta was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to a mother and father who had left Italy to find better work opporunity in America. They would come to appreciate this decisions after Italy joined the Weltkrieg some years later, and would then become occupied and beset by a civil war between the Republicans, Socialists, and the Royalists in the South. Anthony was isolated from all this, and helped his father work a farm in Missouri. Scalleta would attend public school and manage to attend a technical college and find work as a mechanic in St. Louis, but his career was sidelined when Huey Long declared America a Dead Nation, and war would come to America. Rejecting the Syndicalists who had ruined his families home land and the Unionists who sided with the Klan, a group who would target Italian immigrants and catholics, Scalleta signed up for service with the Federalists who fought under the Stars and Stripes that his family had flown for years. He, like many others, was rushed through Basic training and put into a uniform. Initially, Scalleta was made a non-commissioned officer and assigned to the Mechanics corps to use his technical knowledge, but later he was able to join a rifle platoon with the 1st Infantry Division where he fought with distinction at the Battle of Lexington during the Federalist retreat from the Kentucky Corridor, earning him a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant and later Lieutenant after his platoon commander was killed and Scalleta took command. Now Scalleta and his platoon sit in Baltimore, on the front lines of the Eastern Pocket ready to defend to the last man.

I am interested. Are female units allowed? Since in the Kaiserreich lore - the CSA was the biggest supporter of equality and diversity in general.

Although would the same be applied with the AUS or the Federalists?

For when it makes sense, yes they are allowed. CSA and Syndicalist volunteers would have women. The AUS wouldn't as they are mainly populated by conservatives and far right groups like the Klan and Silver Legion, who wouldn't very much want Women soldiers. The Federalists would probably have women in rear line service.

Yeah, with how much things can shift and change 'rear line service' could end up turning into a front-line service at any second at that. Still dunno, if an entire Platoon could be made up entirely of females...

This is more focused on the Civil War and the men fighting it, rather than governments. You could apply for a character in government if you wish.

So, can I make a female-dominant / mixed Platoon - whose Platoon Type is Supply/Infantry?

Sure, although I doubt a supply unit would see action, or even be armed.

Out of curiosity: if the players' platoons can be from any side in the war, how are they ever going to be in close enough proximity to interact? Won't y'all end up telling a bunch of separate stories?
For really, I think that the poorest he that is in England hath a life to live as the greatest he. And therefore truly, Sir, I think it's clear that every man that is to live under a Government ought first by his own consent to put himself under that Government. And I do think that the poorest man in England is not at all bound in a strict sense to that Government that he hath not had a voice to put himself under.

Well i'm hoping that players can coordinate through the discord about either fighting NPC forces together or two (or more) players fighting each other. Its partly why I don't recommend the Entente.

I didn't very much account for Airborne, this is set in 1938 and the US didn't really have Airborne units. Keep in mind that the US has been in a civil war for a year, and before that was the great depression. Supply is scarce in terms of machines while the economies of all sides gear up.

I mean they have intervened, thats what the Volunteers are for. If you mean joining the war, no they won't because they know that if they declare war on one side in the civil war then one of the major alliances facing them will join in and then boom, World War. Nazi Germany didn't declare war on Republican Spain, same logic applies here.

Name: Lieutenant Nicolas Roberts
Age: 29
Nationality: American
Appearance Blue eyes, 5'9, 185 lbs.
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Biography: Nicolas was born in a small town in Indiana to proud American farmers. He learned a lot from his father and mother, both of which rejected most of the beliefs of the Syndicates and their left wing allies. They also weren't followers of Huey Long and his band of racist jackasses in the South. No, Nicolas learned from his parents to love America and came to believe that the faults and challenges facing the great nation could be solved without going to either extreme. Still, politics weren't high on his list of important things, as most of his days were filled with hard work on his father's farm. However, when Jack Reed and Huey Long declared their respective break away states from America, Nicolas couldn't stand idly by and watch the nation he loved be torn asunder. So, Nicolas joined the Federalists in their fight to keep the Union together. He's served in combat a number of times, seeing action in Kentucky as the Federalists were pushed back. Zachery Collins

Image

Name: Zachery Collins
Age: 28
Nationality: American(Coloradoan)
Appearance Hazel eyes, messy dark brown hair
Ethnicity: Germanic
Biography: Zachery Collins was born in Denver, Colorado. He loved to hike and explore the Rockies and developed a love for the mountains and his country while in school. He played football while in high school and got a basic engineering degree at his local community college. Dissatisfied with being a mechanic, he eventually joined the US army and began as a gunner of a tank. He eventually became the lieutenant of a tanknplatoon and was stationed near the air force academy in Colorado Springs. While there, he witnessed the growing political divides, by noticed the strong unity the people of Colorado exhibited with their support of the true government. Inspired by that, he began to publish a small pamphlet preaching unity to the troops in base. By the time the Second American Civil war started, he was in command of an entire tank platoon. He regrouped with the other tank platoons in the Rocky’s and helped form the Rocky Mountain Marauders, one of the only Federalist tank divisions, let alone in the Great Planes. This division reported through radio to the headquarters of the main force in Federalist territory and waited for deployment to one of the fronts the US now faces. He also quickly met with smaller federalist militias in Denver while retiring to visit his family. There, he helped them set up a strong state militia whose goal was to protect their land and fight without the support of the Federalist army if they were occupied which became the bedrock for the Rocky Mohntain Resistance army. Now, his division has been sent to DC through naval troop transports and are stationed in the large field that is the national mall waiting for orders for the protection and defense of DC in a temporary headquarters set up next to the Washington monument.

Platoon Leader

Image

Name: Major Thomas "Tommy" Hitchcock, Jr.
Age: 38
Nationality: American
Appearance "Now he was a sturdy straw-haired man of thirty with a rather hard mouth and a supercilious manner. Two shining arrogant eyes had established dominance over his face and gave him the appearance of always leaning aggressively forward. Not even the effeminate swank of his riding clothes could hide the enormous power of that body — he seemed to fill those glistening boots until he strained the top lacing, and you could see a great pack of muscle shifting when his shoulder moved under his thin coat. It was a body capable of enormous leverage — a cruel body." -F. Scott Fitzgerald on Tom Buchanan, a character based on Tommy Hitchcock
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Biography:

Tommy Hitchcock Jr. was born in Aiken, South Carolina on February 11th, 1900 to Louise "Loulie" Corcoran Eustis Hitchcock, a Southern socialite and heir to the Eustis Family fortune, and Thomas Hitchcock, Sr, a wealthy investor and journalism mogul. By way of his aunt, Tantine's influence, Hitchcock was raised in Aiken, South Carolina's during the Winters and spent the summers in Westbury, New York. Constantly around horses and raised in an affluent household, the young Tommy was an avid horseman and a believer in the "Muscular Christianity" doctrine that overtook the upper class of the United States in his youth, embracing the rough sports of boxing and polo alongside of long distance running. A standout Polo player, he won the US Junior National Championship at age 16 and was soon privileged enough to hold a ten-goal handicap, the highest such handicap in the American Polo Association. He was educated in America's best schools at the time, such as the Fay School in Southborough, Massachusetts and St. Paul's School in New Hampshire, and was deeply influenced by the "preparation doctrine" circles leading up to the First World War. Influenced by this passion and his deep connection to France (like many other American aristocrats, he spoke only French at home), he volunteered for the Lafayette Flying Corps in 1917 and flew pursuit planes during the war for France, achieving five aerial victories and earning the title of Ace. He was shotdown and briefly held as a German prisoner of war before he escaped to neutral Switzerland. Deeply troubled by the events of the war and France's defeat, he returned to the United States and entered Harvard, studying Chemistry with great difficultly before being offered a position in a number of Wall Street firms in the 1920s due to his familial connections. Making a number of shrewd investments, he grew extremely wealthy, even as the Stock Market began to fail. While the country fell deeper and deeper into chaos, the mild-mannered and largely apolitical Hitchcock gained prominence as one of the nation's greatest athletes, and alongside of Charles Lindbergh, became a prominent supporter of MacArthur. In 1937, with the country in a state of near total collapse, Hitchcock used his connections to obtain a Major's Commission in the US Army Air Corps rather than accept a position on the board of his friend, Robert Lehman's investment firm. He received command of the 27th Pursuit Squadron at Langley Army Airfield shortly thereafter and ordered to ensure the air defense of Greater Washington and the surrounding metropolitan area.

"In the old days, the navigators used magic to make themselves strong, but now, nothing; they just pray. Before they leave and at sea, they pray. But I, I make myself strong by thinking—just by thinking! I make myself strong because I despise cowardice. Too many men are afraid of the sea. But I am a navigator."-Mau Piailug
