You are an Explorer, part of a proud dynasty of privateering merchant princes known as Rogue Traders. You are empowered by an ancient warrant of trade to seek out profit and plunder amongst the unexplored regions of space. You will discover forgotten mysteries, find lost human worlds, and behold sights never before seen by human eyes.
You must survive the dangers of space, not only the threat of vacuum, cold, and deadly radiation, but the things that lurk in the dark void between stars that Man was never meant to find.
Ambition Knows No Bound
Welcome to Rogue Trader, a roleplay of exploration, risk and savage might set in the decaying far future of Warhammer 40,000.
Vast fortunes await on the edges of the galaxy, if you and your fellow Explorers can muster the courage to find and claim them. Renown and riches reward the bold, but the unwary find only anonymous deaths. A Rogue Trader who can wrest profits from a dangerous universe through luck, cunning, or sheer force of will enjoys something few humans in the 41st Millennium even know - a life of adventure and true freedom.
Such a course, however, is often fraught with peril. Foul aliens, pernicious raiders, and even other Rogue Traders stand in your way on the path to greatness. Your wits, luck, skill, and courage will be tested to their utmost limits. To survive is to face even greater challenges - and to wield even greater power.
What Is This Hersey?
Knowledge of the Warhammer 40K setting is required.
But the basic premise of the game has the players take on the roles of a Rogue Trader and his retinue of trusted officers (altogether referred to as "Explorers" by the system) as the command staff of a starship. With wealth, privilege and power undreamt of by the average Imperial citizen, Rogue Traders are free to explore the galaxy at the edges and, indeed, beyond the boundaries of established Imperial space. Far from the prying eyes of the Inquisition or other Imperial authorities, any method of furthering their interests and making profit is on the cards; strip-mining, enslaving, or depopulating entire worlds are within the realms of possibility, and many crews are not above consorting with xenos or even turning to heretical means to achieve their own ends.
