Government of the Royal Republic of Bruke
Statement from the Office of the President:
We welcome those from near and far to witness the inauguration of the new Prime Minister, and hope their stay is a pleasant one. Those in attendance should feel free to discuss matters of various importance with the officials present at the Parliament and the Royal Palace.
President Bereket Abera
Statement from the Royal Palace:
The Crown and the Government welcome the results of the recent general election. The fact that an election was able to be held in spite of ongoing conflicts which posed an existential threat to the nation speaks to the resilience of our democracy.
In a celebratory spirit, an inauguration will be held in which the new Prime Minister and the Cabinet will be sworn in. His Majesty and the President will be in attendance, along with various figures from politics, culture, business, and other areas.
Officials and dignitaries from other countries will be welcomed, not just as representatives from abroad, but as esteemed and honored guests of the Royal Republic.
Issued in the name of he who is a servant of the the Most High, saved from sin and death by the Son, forgiven by the Father, and renewed and restored by the Holy Spirit, pride of the Prince who was made King, His Majesty Ras-Hoy and Negus Emmanuel the 2nd, of the Royal Republic of Bruke
Inauguration Schedule
At the Church of the Nine Saints, in Brukeville: Special Service for the Inauguration (9:00-11:00 am)
At the Parliament, in Dub City: Inauguration Ceremony and Prime Minister's Speech (midday-2:00 pm)
At the Parliament, in Dub City: Inaugural Session of Parliament (3:00-6:00 pm)
At the Royal Palace, in Brukeville: the Prime Minister's Ball (7:00 pm-midnight)
This is a diplomatic RP intended to introduce the new government, and more importantly, to tie up loose ends, so to speak, regarding diplomatic relations between Bruke and the various nations it has come into contact with. A third and final purpose will be to flesh out the various details of my nation that I have scarcely had time to think through.
Given these purposes, this RP will be intended primarily for players who have had IC contact with me throughout my time on Nationstates, though not limited to those individuals if space allows.
If one wishes to have your characters explore the city/country (the country is relatively small and easy to get around), there is built in time to the schedule to do so. The two major events will be the ceremony and the ball, other events are secondary.
The standard expectations of good RP behavior, especially as it pertains to a diplomatic RP, apply, meaning:
Do not engage in god-modding or meta-gaming.
OOC concerns should be handled OOC. (Also, we should strive for treating each other respectfully both IC and OOC, but especially the latter).
When writing an IC post, [repetitive] one-liners should be avoided unless absolutely necessary. (If you hit a brick wall in terms of what to write, TG me and we'll work something out).
Keep the language and imagery of your posts at a PG-13 level, at most.
No violence except with the consent of the involved parties and myself. (As an IC note, keep in mind that Brukean security forces will be out and about in full force, so don't get carried away and no murder.)
On the matter of security, Brukean security forces will be responsible for the safety of all attendees, but bodyguards (up to 2) are permitted. If you do bring bodyguards, do keep in mind that heavy and/or excessive weaponry will not be permitted.
On the matter of gifts and/or other items: gifts are welcome, but if you bring gifts be sure they are not of excessive size or of an inappropriate nature. Weapons of the guests cannot be anything other than ceremonial.
Note on NPCs: All NPC characters, from government ministers to palace servants, will be RPed by me and me alone.
Regarding non-human characters: as this will be canon, I am currently undecided on whether or not to allow non-human characters. If it turns out that a substantial number of players that I have interacted with in the past have non-human nations/characters, they will be allowed into the RP.
Note on OOC timing: If a nation with which my nation has had substantial interaction with is unable to attend, for IC purposes it will be as if they were too busy to send a representative. Real life comes before RP matters.
As for the application itself:
An RP sample, of almost any length, is required with the application; ideally it will be from a diplomatic RP.
Images of your characters should be spoilered.
The RP will begin on this Saturday (December 15th), so that everyone has time to make arrival/introductory posts and I have time to respond with posts setting the scene and the like. OOC, the inauguration itself will likely be on Sunday to allow me to have a block of time set aside to RP my characters, both important and minor. At a time on Saturday (which will probably be in the evening) the IC thread will be up and I will post the link in this thread. Depending on how the RP is going, it will last anywhere from this weekend only to a full week (all of next week).
Note about attending events: You are encouraged to have characters stay for both the ceremony and the Ball, but if that would not be possible (OOC-wise), let me know ahead of time.
One last note! The events schedule is purposely structured so that there is ample opportunity for diplomatic interaction on the sidelines of (in the case of the Inaugural Session of Parliament) and during (in the case of the Prime Minister's Ball), but feel free to interact in the gaps between events also.
P.S.: the inauguration schedule is IC only, OOC time is ignored. Meaning, if it's afternoon IC and evening OOC, consider it to be afternoon, and vice versa.
If there are any questions that have not been answered, or concerns you have, please let me know and I will get back to you, either in this thread or through TG.
IC is here!
