[Q] Store Help

Postby The Chuck » Thu Dec 13, 2018 7:56 am

Hello,

I'm assuming yes but is it possible to buy stuff from the store with Visa prepaid gift cards? Secondly I assume there is no tax with the purchases correct?

Thanks!

Sincerely,

T.C.

No idea about whether the store accepts VISA gift cards. If they're like VISA cards in any other way, I don't see why not.

I don't know if we charge sales tax, but your assumption is incorrect. You don't pay sales tax when you load the gift card, you pay it when you use it. According to Google, this is common practice across the USA. Can't speak for other countries.

Thanks Frisbeeteria for the information. Unfortunately I already purchased Postmaster General. I paid an activation fee and taxes getting the Visa card and didn't have to pay any more taxes when purchasing it. Thanks for the help though! *leaves a plate of sugar cookies with a glass of milk*

That's more likely because we don't charge sales tax, even though there are probably jurisdictions where we should be charging. It's not because of some gift card policy.

The activation fee is between you and the card issuer. If you buy goods in a brick-and-mortar store, I pretty much guarantee they will charge you sales taxes. If you paid sales taxes on a gift card, your merchant is probably doing things wrong. You might want to take your receipt and talk to a manager or corporate office.
