BACKSTORY

The sheer destruction of the First World War would shock the world to its very core, and would forever uproot the established Empires and social status quo of Europe forever. The collapse of the Austrian Empire in 1918 and the German Empire in 1919 would see new nations and movements spring up as the old Austro-Hungarian Empire was dissolved into Austria, Hungary, Czechslovakia and Yugoslavia. In Germany, socialist and communist revolutionaries would rise up and take Berlin, coastal cities like Hamburg and Konigsberg, and Bavaria, declaring states such as the Free Socialist Republic of Germany and the Bavarian Socialist Republic. They would receive support from the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics, led by Chairman Leon Trotsky, which had just secured victory in the Polish-Soviet War and the Finnish-Soviet War. The German Reich, declared a Republican by those remaining conservative, centrist, and Republican politicans, would receive support from the French and their allies, allowing the Freikorp and hastily raised militia's to defeat the Bavarian socialists and to hold the advance of the German FSR at the Elbe River. The two sides would then face a stalemate, eventually ended by the 1925 Hague Ceasefire signed by both sides with the expectation of a treaty which would never come. The European Powers of Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Denmark-Sweden would form the European Alliance as a cohesive block to oppose Soviet expansion. The communists, who had already formed a military alliance in the form of the Communist Internationale, would sponser communist revolts in Hungary, Greece, Romania and Yugoslavia, the last one beginning a bloody civil war which would last years until finally being ended. In China, the Nationalists of the Republic of China would crush the Communist Party of China in the Ruiji Offensive, trapping them in the Hainan provicne and destroying all but a couple thousand who escaped to the USSR. The Middle East would see fighting as the Allies occupy southern Iran after a Socialist Revolution captures the capital, and the Turkish Republic forms an alliance with Bulgaria to help stem the Red Tide in the Balkans.

Still reeling from the 1929 Stock Market Crash, the world of Red Dawn Reloaded is one of deep ideological divides and the threat of a war greater in its scope than any before it. Shall you take control of a nation and lead it to peace and prosperity? Shall you liberate those lands oppressed, or conquer the world and put all under your boot. What ever you choose to do, one thing remains certain; there will be Blood.

In 1914, the Archduke of the Austro-Hungarian Empire would be struck dead by an assassin's bullet. This single death would send a shock wave through Europe, and within months would cause the single largest and deadliest conflict in Human history, known forever as the Great War. The war would see millions dead, dragging in almost every European nation and several powers from all over the world. The war would ultimately come to an end in 1919 after the decisive Hundred Days offensive, known as Plan 1919 by military commanders at the time, would see the German Army destroyed and the Allied armies pushed up to the Rhine. This was mainly helped by the introduction of US troops with the campaigning of President Theodore Roosevelt, who had won the 1912 Ticket for the Progressive party. The Austrian Empire had been defeated months earlier, and the Hungarians declared independent and surrendered before them. The war was over, and the allies set out for their terms. Austria-Hungary was broken up into Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Hungary. The former Balkan Territories were united under Serbia, who would later on form the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Transylvania was given to Romania in return for its contribution to the war. Germany was forced to accept responsibility for the war and levied with massive war debts which would come to cripple the German economy.

Shortly after the treaty was signed, Kaiser Wilhelm II would abdicate the throne and flee to the Netherlands after hearing of several mutanies and revolts by members of the Navy and the civilian population. The German Revolution was beginning, with many “Communes” popping up in German cities. Left wing socialist and communist groups in Germany rose up, forming People’s Militias from civilian revolutionaries and former soldiers. They would soon find themselves fighting former Imperial soldiers who formed themselves into Freikorps. The most massive of these battles would be the Spartacist Uprising, also known as the Battle for Berlin. What started out as a labor protest and strike would turn the streets of Berlin into a battlefield between Socialist Militia’s and the Freikorp. The fighting would last weeks until finally the Spartacists pushed the Freikorp out of Berlin with the help of defecting military regiments and the revolting German Name, who now called themselves the People’s Navy Division (Volksmarinedivision). With the Freikorp pushed out, Liebknecht would proclaim the formation of the German Free Socialist Republic (Deutsches Freie Sozialistische Republik), starting the German Civil War. In response, several members of the former Imperial Government would declare the German Republic in the city of Weimar, led by Friedrich Ebert as President.

This turn of events pleased the newly formed Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, otherwise known as the Soviet Union. With the dawn of 1920 saw the end of the Russian Civil War with White Russian Forces defeated in the Chita Offensives in the far east. Lead by the ailing Lenin and his General Secretary, Leon Trotsky, the USSR was seeking to reclaim lands lost in the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, with the territory of Ukraine having been conquered earlier in the year. Soviet Forces under the command of People's Commissar for Military and Affairs Joseph Stalin would begin the Polish-Soviet War. In the North, Soviet troops would also invade the Republic of Finland in the Soviet-Finnish War.

In North Africa, the Rif War would break out in Morocco between the locals and the Spanish Empire, which had been in decline for decades now. The War would see tens of thousands of dead Spanish Soldiers, and this combined with the seen ineffectiveness of the Spanish Government and increased factionalism would see a clique of generals and nationalist politicians under General Primo de Rivera force King Alphonse XIII to dissolve Parliament and form a Military Government. The government would begin a reorganization of the Spanish Military and large construction and investment projects to rebuild the Spanish Economy.

The year 1922 would see the growth of the German Civil War, with the declaration of a Bavarian Socialist Republic in the south and the growth of the Free Socialist Republic in the east as it took control of Prussia. The Polish-Soviet War would reach its climax in the Battle of Warsaw which would see a surprise Polish Charge defeated after a defector informed the Soviets of Polish Plans. With the Polish Army destroyed, the Red Army swept through Poland occupying it. Both Poland and Ukraine would be formed into Socialist Soviet Republics of the USSR in late 1920, followed shortly by the bloodless invasion of the Baltic States. The Soviet-Finnish War would end in late 1922 with a Soviet victory over the young Finnish Republic. In response, Sweden and Denmark would form a personal union to provide for a common defense against the eastern communists.

With the Soviets moving further and further west, the allied powers of Britain, France, Italy, and to a lesser extent the United States would become greatly concerned. Fears over the threat of socialism and communism would be heightened after a coal miners strike in Wales turned bloody and resulted in multiple deaths. The Red Terror was beginning to sweep nations, resulting in drastic measures. Britain and France would both ban communist parties, and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation would begin a large crack down on far left organizations. Concerned over the threat from the civil war, France and Belgium would occupy the Rhineland under the reason of collecting war reparations. French and Belgian troops would clash with socialist revolutionaries in the Rhine, successfully suppressing them and receiving support from local Freikorp who the French turned a blind eye to. Arms shipments would begin to arrive from the United States and neutral nations to Hamburg in the north, arming the Freikorp in violation of the Treaty of Versailles, although the occupying French did little to stop it.

As the Soviets pushed into Poland, the Italians would see mass unrest at home. Labor strikes would result in the Italian economy grinding to a halt. Far right Italian militias would be formed and would fight the striking workers, who would form their own militias. An undeclared civil war was beginning. The Legionnaires as they were known would fight the leftists, and bring unrest. They would attempt a coup in 1922, which would be quickly put down by the Italian Army and Police, and would lead to an Emergency Coalition Government being formed to address the unrest and economic issues, with Ivano Bonue elected Prime Minister.

In the middle east, the Turkish War of Independence would come to an end with Turkey managed to keep most of Anatolia and a general peace existing now between them and the western powers. Ataturk's nationalists begin to be seen as a good buffer between the Soviets in the Caucasus and British/French Colonial holdings in the middle east. Border clashes in Scandinavia would result in the Nordic War between Sweden-Denmark and Norway.

In Asia, the United Front is formed between the Nationalist controlled Republic of China and the Communist Party of China. The alliance is formed to combat the Warlords which have dominated China since the fall of the Qing Empire in the early 1910’s. Members of the Nationalist Party and CCP work closely with advisors and support from the USSR to help improve their military and political abilities.

The Fourth International Congress of the Communist International would be hosted in 1924 by Chairman of the Council of People's Commissioners Leon Trotsky, who had been elevated to the office after the death of Lenin. The Congress would see an official military alliance formed between the USSR and the German Free Socialist Republic, along with declarations of support for several communist and socialist parties and movements in Europe and abroad by the Soviets. Soviet forces under Stalin would move into Germany, supporting the People’s Militias as they moved west. French and Belgian forces would respond by moving east word and establishing a front line on the Elbe river. While not officially apart of the war, the troops were told to maintain the border and to not let communist forces pass. The two would eventually come into contact, and a stalemate would occur with neither side willing to start another world war. In the South, German Freikorps would finally defeat the Bavarian Socialists and regain Munich, moving north to to help support the French and Belgian forces, who were now joined by the British Navy who imposed a blockade on shipping into the Baltic. The stand off at the Elbe would last months before the two sides came to negotiations in the League of Nations, eventually settling on the 1925 Hague Ceasefire. Negotiations into a later Peace Treaty would break down.

The British and French would also see combat in Persia. A coup in 1921 had seen the Homeland party take control, and now in 1925 Reza Shah attempted a failed coup to take power and establish Iran as a authoritarian monarchy. He was thwarted by a Soviet supported counter revolution in the north, which took control of the Capital, Tehran, early in the year. Fearing a threat to their Iraqi and Arabian possessions, and the vast southern oil fields, the British would land and occupy the southern region of Iran, placing it under military occupation. A joint Anglo-French coalition would also enter the country from the west, and a buffer area under Anglo-French military occupation would be formed. This area would be turned into the State of Iran, under the control of Reza Shah, in 1926. The northern area would be declared the Socialist Republic of Iran. In Scandinavia, the Nordic War would end with Norway being annexed by Sweden-Denmark. German President Friedrich Ebert would fall dead in office, and would be replaced by hard line conservative and war hero Paul von Hindenburg. The allies support Hindenburg as they believe he will be tough on Communism and on extremism in Germany.

While the Communists and Capitalists stare each other down in Germany, the Balkans begin to rumble. The Hungarian Government under Mihaly Karoly, President of the Hungarian Republic declared when the Hungarians broke off from Austria, is ousted after the Budapest Revolts of 1926 saw a coup by Bela Kuhn and his Red Militia. The People’s Socialist Republic of Hungary is formed, and immediately joins the Comintern Pact with the USSR and German FSR. In the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the Communist Party of Yugoslavia would begin an armed revolt in the north, supported by the Hungarian Republic this revolt would start a long and bloody civil war, which would see volunteers from multiple nations sent. For now, the communists manage to take control of Slovenia and begin plans to move south, with a Croatian named Josip Tito rising through the ranks.

In Asia, Sun Yat Sen dies of cancer in Beijing and is succeeded by his protege, Chiang Kai Shek. He leads the Northern Campaign which ends in failure as the combined warlords of northern China hold onto their regions, forming a loose confederation. Disillusioned with fighting the warlords, and seeing a great split in the Nationalist party between right and left, Chiang breaks the United Front and goes on to attack the CCP in Shanghai, leading to a massacre.

1927 sees the London Conference with the leaders of France, Britain, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Sweden-Denmark assembled to discuss the threat of the soviets. Italy would be represented by King Umberto, who took office earlier after the abdication of King Emmanuel III. The delegates would sign the Treaty of London, forming the European Alliance under the terms of mutual defense against foreign invasion. The Allied powers also agreed to end German reparation payments, and would begin a plan to help investment into the German Economy and support the German Reichswehr, a military formed out of former Freikorps units reformed into a proper military. The German Republic had only grown after Austria passed a referendum to join the German Republic, which had been championed by war hero Adolf Hitler, who had served in the Austrian Army on the Carpathian Front, of the Austrian National Workers Party. The United States, while officially neutral under President Hiram Johnson who was late into his second term, began large scale investment and spending in the German and western european economies. They were at the peak of a economic high which had started in the late 1890’s and had only boomed since the war.

In the same year as the London Conference, the Military Dictatorship of General Rivera in Spain would end and a constitutional election would be held, which saw Unión Conservadora-Liberal into majority power. Spain's democracy, for now, is stable. In Yugoslavia, the civil war begins to ramp up as the Soviets send men and supplies through Hungary and assist the CPY in pushing south into Croatia. Separatist movements in Macedonia and Albania draw Yugoslavia troops away from the north. Foreign Volunteers from France, Britain, Italy, and the United States arrive, being formed into multiple International Brigades to fight in the north. Despite the support, the communists move further and further south under the command of Joseph Stalin. His ruthless tactics see great successes. Wishing to increase his supply lines, Stalin’s forces invade Czechoslovakia with the help of the German Volksarmee. Divisions of the Reichswehr, supported by the French, occupy part of the southern Sudetenland under the pretense of protecting ethnic Germans in the area. Within months Czechoslovakia is occupied, with what's left of the Czech portion falling under the German FSR while Slovakia is formed into the People’s Republic of Slovakia. In asia, CCP revolts in Hainan province prove successful, and the CCP gains a foothold in China to continue their operations. The Republic of China, under Chiang Kai Shek’s nationalists, box the CCP in and begin a period of consolidation and rebuiling of the economy.

1928 sees Herbert Hoover of the Republic party beat out Robert M. La Follette Sr., the Progressive Party candidate along with Al Smith of the Democratic Party. In the USSR, Chairman Leon Trotsky institutes many reforms to introduce limited democracy and ethnic representation in the Union. In Hungary, a revolt of the Hungarian Blackshirts led by Miklos Horthy fails to overthrow the communist government and Miklos is executed along with several other prominent leaders. In Yugoslavia, the Croatia offensive by the communists breaks through the Royalist lines and the communists push south as far as Bosnia. Construction on a series of defensive fortifications along with Inner German Border (The line separating the two German states) is completed by the Federal Republic. With the expansion of the Reichswehr, the defense of the border relies more and more on the Germans and the allied powers of Britain and France begin to play a more auxiliary role.

Black Monday would rock the United States and the world in 1929. It was the day which the New York Stock Market decided to finally burst, with people and institutions losing millions in savings and worth. Within weeks millions of Americans lose their jobs and their entire worth, and the nation is bankrupt. Effects ripple out, causing economic recessions in Britain, Germany, and to a lesser extent France, Italy, and Spain. The economic hit to Yugoslavia causes revolts and strikes in Serbia, resulting in the Royal Family and Government fleeing the nation. The CPY occupies Serbia and the Socialist Federation of Yugoslavia is established under Josip Tito. The collapse of the Greek Economy leads to armed insurrections in the North, and a brief communist revolution which would turn into a full invasion by the Yugoslavians and Soviet army. Concerned with the growing threat on their borders, Bulgaria and Romania sign a defensive alliance which will later include Turkey. In South America, the Revolutionary Opposition led by Román Delgado Chalbaud deposes the leader of Venezuela and establishes an authoritarian regime in the country. In China, the Soviets invade and occupy Xinjiang, establishing the Socialist Soviet Republic of Xinjiang.

The most major event of 1930 would be the start of the Chaco War, which began as a Bolivian invasion of Paraguay over the Chaco region. While Bolivian made headway in the beginning, they were soon stopped by an intervention from the Argentinian government. The members of the European Alliance would form the European Common Economic Union, or ECEU, as an organization to help member nations stabilize their economies and recover from the US Stock Market Crash. The 1930 Colombian Elections would see the Conservative party take power, resulting in a fracturing of the Colombian Liberal Party. In Italy, the Emergency Government is disbanded by King Umberto I and a new government elected, with a Centrist Coalition taking power. This move came after a large campaigns by the Italian Police and Military succeded in arresting many leaders on both the Left and Right sides along with breaking up Militia's; this was also helped after a rebound in the Italian Campaign with the help of the ECEU and previous economic benefits from the European Alliance. US President Herbert Hoover is assassinated by a member of the Socialist Party of America; his Vice president, Charles Curtis, becomes acting President. Under Curtis, the Federal Government’s power would see expansion in terms of interstate commerce and national security, and the FBI would increase its operations against communist and socialists elements in the country after the killing of Hoover.

1931 would see the Japanese Military cross the border and annex Manchuria, establishing the puppet republic of Manchukuo. The Soviets, fearing possible invasion into the Far East Soviet Socialist Republic, deploy more troops to the Manchurian border in the Far East and Mongolian SSR’s. In the Chaco War, a Bolivian offensive results in some ground gained before the offensive was halted. Both sides begin to dig in and entrench their positions. Ecudaor breaks out into a civil war due to the economic depression brought on by the stock market crash, and pits the national government led by the Senate against a coalition of the CON Conservatives and PCE Communists, led by Neftalí Bonifaz. With the upcoming 1932 election in sight, the Republican Party merges with the Progressive Party; the Progressives put forth a bill of Charles Curtis for re-election with New York Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt as his vice president.

1932 sees victory in the Ecuadorian civil war go to the CON-PCE Coalition, with Bonifaz elected as president. The coalition almost immediately falls apart, with Bonifaz forced to cut ties with the PCE and appoint many members of the CON. He is assassinated later in the year, and his Vice President, Carlos Freile Larrea, taking over as Acting President. Larrea would see the CON ousted and the PCE taking control of the government. The Progressives sweep the US 1932 Election in a landslide due to the addition of the Republican vote, keeping Curtiss in the White House and bringing in former Assistance Secretary of the Navy and relative of the first Progressive, Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Progressives, spearheaded by Roosevelt, promise the American people a "New Deal" to revive America from the Great Depression.

1933 would see the end to the Chaco war after Brazilian intervention on the side of Argentina and Paraguay would see Bolivia defeated and occupied. Due to Brazilian intervention, no territory was gained or lost by any side, but Bolivia was forced to pay crippling war reparations to Paraguay and Argentina. In Spain, a coalition of the National Republican Alliance and the Socialist Workers Party gain control of the country. A growing movement of military thinkers, nationalists, monarchists and conservatives called “Falange Española” would begin to gain ground in Spain. In the United States, the Progressives pass a number of bills and several departments and agencies are set up in what are called the "First Hundred Days" of the Curtiss-Roosevelt Administration. Roosevelt pushes many cabinet positions forward, practically strong arming President Curtiss and leverging congressional support from his party to gain traction.

1934 would see a coup by Republicans and Socialists ousting King Michael I of Romania from power, establishing the provisional Republic of Romania. The USSR would soon send troops into the nation, with many of the Socialists apart of the revolution welcoming them and multiple units of the Romanian Army defecting. Centrists, Monarchists, and Republicans flee south into Bulgaria and establish a government in Exile, while the Socialist Republic of Romania is proclaimed in the capital. In China, Mo Xiong is discovered as a Communist spy and executed. The Nationalist Chinese launch the Ruijin Campaign, which succeeded in conquered and destroying the last of the CCP’s hold out. Those who survive flee on foot and escape to soviet controlled Xinjiang. The power of the CCP in main China is destroyed, and it seems that the Republic of China has won the civil war. The Peru-Colombian war begins after border skirmishes between the two sides escalates. Peru begins an offensive into Colombia which begins to gain ground.

1935 would see the end of the Peru-Colombian war after the Peruvian offensive breaks the Colombian lines and digs deep into the country, taking the capital by the middle of the year. Peru annexes the Amazonian territories and forces Colombia to pay war reparations, bankrupting the country. Bulgaria and Turkey both join the European Alliance, and Turkish troops enter the State of Iran to assist in its defense. Japan and the Republic of China begin negotiations into a possible coalition between the Soviets. President Curtis and Vice President Roosevelt begin the New Deal to a slow start. In Africa, the Second Italo-Ethiopian War would start as Italian Troops moved into Ehtiopia from Italian Somalia. The Italian Army, bolstered by support from France and Britain, is able to quickly defeat the Ethiopians. While the war is over, many Ethiopians take to the mountains in a guerilla resistance to Italian rule.

Now we come to our current year, 1936. The world is on a breaking point, and only god knows what is in store for humanity.

So what is this?

This is a reboot of an older roleplay, Red Dawn: The Next World War, created by Democratic-East Asia. With his permission, I've remade it with a changed history to better reflect real history and to be more realistic. While we do have a set history for many of the major nations, you will have the ability to add in changes to your nation not mentioned in the official history, and for those who apply for Minor nations you'll have the ability to almost entirely make your own history. I believe in freedom of roleplay within the bounds of the universe and the rules; as long as what you ask for makes sense within the established logic of the universe, it will be allowed.

Rules, Regulations, and some Basic Information

  • Follow the given rules. I am willing to take criticism and make certain exceptions in some cases, but don't count on it.
  • OP's word is final. If OP is not available, defer to CO-OPs.
  • No god-modding / meta-gaming. Be realistic in what you do, and no, Switzerland is not making atomic weapons.
  • As state above, be realistic in your actions. A nation such as Belgium won't be able to field a multi-million man army, because it lacks the population to do so. Don't do things like that, or you will be warned.
  • 3 strikes and you're out. I won't tolerate flaming or trolling of any kind here. Each time you're accused of doing so, you'll get one strike and a warning to stop.
  • Please be quality in your IC posts. We aren't strict on our limits, but if you just post single sentences or have outrageously bad grammar then you will most likely be ejected.
  • NO atomic weapons until 1945, although early weapons testing can begin in late 44'. When atomic weapons have been created, their use will be heavily monitored and scrutinized. Do note that the atomic bomb isn't a war winning weapon if you don't know how to use it. Following this up, no atomic V-2 type rockets till 46' at a minimum.
  • Tech as a whole is a few years ahead of RL. This means that early war Tiger tanks are plausible, with jet aircraft being a possible mid-war occurrence. Be sure to brief the OP and CO-OPs on any ideas you have.
  • Time moves at a rate of Six months ICly passing every IRL Week. Check out the discord for more info.
  • It is highly recommended to join our discord, as you'll get better answers there than on here

Bonn
German Reich
1 January 1936

Reichskanzler Adolf Hitler sat patiently on a chair, attempting to hold a dignified, thoughtful pose for the artist standing three meters away while discussing policy with the Chief of Staff of the OKW, Field Marshal Werner von Blomberg, who was himself joined by the heads of the OKL, OKM, and OKH. Air Marshal Herman Goring, Chief of Staff of the OKL, was a fat, aging man who had been a fighter pilot in the Great War. Standing next to him, Chief of the OKH Colonel General Ludwig Beck looked as if he had been placed there specifically to contrast with Goring. Beck was a lean man, his form indicative of a career spent in the army and is uniform perfectly pressed and starched. Finally there was Grand Admiral Erich Raeder, Chief of the OKM. Raeder had been a driving force behind Plan Z and the inclusion of a vast U-Boat fleet, a stance that had made him a few enemies in the OKM. But in this room, all four men were reformers and innovators, entirely committed to bringing the Armed Forces to a point where the Communists would be unable to resist them.

"Tell me Herr Raeder," Hitler said, "what is the state of the fleet expansion?" Raeder looked through a folder he was holding before he answered. "Well, Chancellor, our first Aircraft Carrier will be laid down next month, as will be the first of the new Bismarck and the second of the Scharnhorst class battleships. Assuming no delays, we expect these ships to be launched in 1938 and commissioned in 1939. We are also looking at contracting shipyards in England or the United States to speed up the process of commissioning the surface combatants."
"Herman, what of the Luftwaffe?"
"Chancellor, I submitted a report to you last week."
"A report which I read, Air Marshal. But I want to hear from you what you think of the direction the Luftwaffe is headed in." Goring shuffled a little before he answered. "Well, Chancellor, I'm afraid that there have been delays with the development of the planned jet fighter as well as difficulty in meeting procurement quotas for fighters, bombers, and personnel."
"I see," Hitler responded. He thought for a moment before he responded, "Conduct a review of the recruiting offices and production plants. Determine what the shortfalls are and come up with solutions. If our Air Force can't meet the Reds in the sky and defeat them, then the Liberation of East Germany will be impossible." Hitler turned to Beck and said, "Colonel General, what of the Army?"
"Well Chancellor, recruitment is steady and procurement is on course. We expect to have all divisions at full strength by the end of the year. I do, however, want to broach the possibility of reorganizing several Infantry Divisions into Panzer and Panzergrenadier Divisions. Currently we project a requirement of 81 divisions, 27 Panzer Divisions and 54 Panzergrenadier Divisions, to have sufficient strength to take East Germany and secure our southern flank. Now we are currently procuring the Mark Three and Mark Four Panzers, currently armed with five centimeter and seven point five centimeter guns, respectively. We are looking into modifying the hulls and turrets to mount low velocity howitzers or high velocity anti-tank guns to support infantry units."
"Very good. Let's look into contracting foreign companies to help with production and look into the possibility of exporting arms and equipment to other nations."

The painter completed his portrait and began to busy himself with collecting all the bits and bobs associated with his profession. Hitler took that as his signal to relax and rise. "I tell you, gentlemen," he said as he walked towards the uniformed officers, "war with the Bolsheviks is only a matter of time. There is no way for us to avoid it, really. Not if we are serious about liberating our brothers and sisters in the East. It is imperative that we ensure that our alliances are strong and that we have a coherent strategy for achieving victory. I will be contacting our various ambassadors to attempt to secure manufacturing contracts and training deals, among other things. I want a comprehensive plan for war drawn up by the end of the year that can be put into action." The assembled Generals nodded their understanding. "Very good. Now let's get to it. We have much to accomplish."

Kingdom of Denmark-Sweden
Strömstad
Palace of the Royal Family

"Dance motherfucker, dance for my motherfucking amusement!" The king would bellow at the top of his lungs as a terrified older looking woman skipped around, narrowly avoiding bullets to the kneecaps or shins as her feet tapped all around the wooden boards that filled the king's bedroom. Hakkon VII had gotten rather bored this morning, so he decided to torture his wife with a few shots biting at her feet for a good old adrenaline rush. It would almost make up for the fact that he forgot his own anniversary yesterday and that he was one of many mad men in charge of the country's inevitable demise. With a click, the gun failed to fire.
Now, graduating first from his class in the art of Norwegian firearm safety, Hakkon VII looked down the barrel of his lighter feeling pistol and pulled the trigger.
*click*
"Fuck. I am out of ammunition, alright then bitch-I mean bitch wife, I want to be left alone with my cocaine."
With a slight nod and kiss on the cheek, the queen-consort of Denmark-Sweden left the room to dust off her bullet holes and maybe run away. With a wicked grin on his face, Hakkon VII grabbed a 100 Kroner bill with his face on it and rolled it between his fingers, putting the paper in between a mountain of white powdery adult goodness, he proceeded to snort the cocaine up his nose, feeling thrilled at the sensation.
"Oh fuck that feels motherfucking fantastic!"
A minor creak was heard, forcing Hakkon VII to look around at the young aide that had entered.
"Who the fuck are you?"
"I'm your aide, You're majesty."
"Oh. Hello motherfucker. Want some cocaine? too goddamn bad, it's all mine!"
"Sir, you have several things the President wishes to discuss with you.. about the upcoming election and plans for military expansion you had rambling about in your sleep that some soviet spy picked up on."
"Is he going to be shot by kitchen gun?"
"Yes sir."
"Fucking fan tastic! Now, tell him I'll be with him in a fucking second, why cant he fucking enjoy cocaine like me."
"He does sir."
"Oh. well fuck him them. Now who the fucking fuck is fucking fucking with the goddamn fucking political clusterfuck?"
"Sir, President Fleischer is waiting in the carriage outside."
With a heavy sigh, the elected monarch gave the middle finger to the average Scandinavian inbred hillbilly before climbing into the onion shaped carriage, almost as if he was in a shitty Dreamworks talkie.
"Ah, Karl. You're a pain in the ass, but I like you. Now how goes our poll numbers, or rather, you're poll numbers?"
"Well, the old piece of legislation that would allow people to fart in public was passed unanimously, so we've lost a large portion of our income via the flatulence tax. Then again, the enforcement of such a ludicrous idea was hair brained, you had police units stalk chili contests with fart detectors and arrest some old lady who hadn't even eaten any chili. Of course the cops had to turn themselves in once they accidentally let wind break. You know we're a weird country that has capital punishment for breaking wind and yet you can snort as much cocaine as you want."
"That's the beauty of corruption. and communis-I mean capitalism-I mean state owned capitalism. We'll go with that. Now the polls, how are they sitting so far?"
"We've manage to do our largest survey ever, of you and me, and it's a 100% shoo-in for the KNP/SB coallition government."
"Wow, 2 ENTIRE PEOPLE POLLED? Slow down there, could we instead poll someone who's in a wheel chair and have them count for 1/2 a person? I want to take this one step at a time. Oh, better yet, just find a decomposing arm from the military academy for dumbasses and have that count as a 1/4th of a person."
"I'll arrange that first thing once I commit stop living."
"What?"
"Nothing, nothing, Now then, once that throw away joke has been wasted and the audience of this fourth wall break thoroughly horrified with Denmark-Sweden, what were you planning in regards to the naval clusterfuck?"
"Oh, small increases, a few light cruisers and a pair of battleships."
"Ah, that's go-are you fucking kidding me."
"I'm not a joker, none of my one liners seem to stick. I'm afraid it's as deadpan of a delivery as you can get these days. Well until the telegraph is invented."
"It is invented."
"Ah, now I can get my troops to stop using signal fires and weird sounds as they attempt to learn to speak to one another. You know communication's an overrated battlefield tactic? It's all about not knowing what the fuck you're allies or yourself is doing in the heat of the moment."
"Good times. Now that we've discussed how shit our soldiers are, shall we discuss the election further on one of the Coastal Defense Ships?"
"Sure, why the hell not, actually, fuck politics, let's just have the reader be confused as to why we're now suddenly going to abruptly stop talking mid se-"

ROYAL DECREE N0.2841

REGARDING THE STATE OF THE DANO-SWEDISH NAVY AND PLANNED EXPANSION TO BETTER ACCOMPANY OUR DEFENSES AGAINST THOSE GODDAMN SOVIET MOTHERFUCKERS UP NORTH

1. Understanding that the naval strength of the naval fleets are primarily focused on a handful of capital ships to guard the coasts, shipping and interests of the elected crown, and arguing that more vessels shall be needed, I urge the Parliament to take immediate action on naval rearmament efforts in the expansion of the Dano-Swedish flotillas to be more than just coastal defense ships, but to include medium sized battleships in order to deter naval threats and to ensure Dano-Swedish domination and supremacy in the Baltic Sea against the combined forces of a potential Germanic-Soviet alliance.
2.Fully Aware of the provocative stance the decree will entail to be thrust upon the legislative branch,I can assure that diplomatic sovereignty of the militaristic kingdom will never be thrown away, and our defense is tantamount to the nation's survival against threats from all sides.

The decimal, elephant, and reference to a 50s style american rock and roll icon is because His elected majesty is currently experiencing a cocaine high right now.
3. The Armaments for such military machines will be the following: four twin 14 inch guns in super-firing positions stern and bow. DEBATE
Arguments for: "Our National defense must be the utmost priority of the nation agaisnt both the red and grey threats to our boarders! I do not wish for the laborers of the nation to rise up and topple a system of government that may oppress them violently. The Soviet Union and the German communists are in bed together, and I believe that both of them are arming themselves with gunboats. We simply need to go down to the gunboat store and get the latest and greatest model of gunboat, use that, and save the nation from the perversion of communism." MP for Freezing Afghanistan Osama Bin Laden

Arguments Against: "The government has made another wise choice as the population starves to death, instead of sending money towards social programs that work, they instead decide to play the big bad soviet boogeyman and keep the people in chains, both figuratively and literately in some instances of what I've been forced to read. This 580 million Kroner could go so well in expanding the roads of the nation, hospitals, schools and communist store-I mean glorious national propaganda stores. Instead we are squandering it on threats that will never come! Our relations with the Germans have never been better, I mean we actually made eye contact with them for once, so that's a start, oh, and we had that awkward silent stare from the soviets across the boarder when we sent a couple guys with guns to patrol the boarder, they didn't even attempt to shoot back when we burned down that village that used to have 400 Finns in it. Our relationship with these people are getting better, and we had better not jeopardize it with militarily provocative acts such as this." ELECTION DEBATE

Moderator: "Welcome to the first and only radio broadcast of the 1936 Dano-Swedish Parliamentarian debates involving Clochard Des Senges representing the second largest current party of Protectors of Mother Scandinavia, and current President Karl Gustav Fleischer, who represents the majority party of Insane Navy in the legislative assembly known as parliament. Now the way this shall be formatted will be I ask a question to either both gentlemen or address either in turn with an issue, after I have spoken each candidate will get three minutes to respond. If at any such time these rules are broken, I shall snort cocaine in celebration. Now the first question shall be addressed to the incumbent President. In regards to the recent bills passed by Parliament regarding the military expenditure on capital ships and other militarily related hardware, there are increasing concerns about the economy of the nation going into debt in order to pay for the latest shipment of military goods ordered from factories in Stockholm and Oslo. Would you do anything to alleviate this burden and debt of our economic unity?"

Karl Gustav Fleischer:"It's very simple, if we continue to print more money, destabilize our own currency and continue more and more into debt, we will have reached national enlightenment. This involves being the worst off nation economically while also preparing shit tons of military equipment that are literal debt bombs for the national gross domestic product. If we are to remain a safe and stable nation, we must continue to go into debt. We can always pay back the debt at a later date down the road. We can not pay back our mistakes in turning to a civilian based service economy while the reds knock our doors down and we'd be speaking in russia talk."

Clochard Des Senges:"I would first like to say I'm regretful that the people of this country hunger for food while our military high command has a hankering for the blood of our enemies. In terms of economic relief for the citizens, I point to a slew of social welfare programs such as allowing workers to form their own unions, repealing a bunch of taxes, replacing the fertilizers used from our own shit to actually manufactured goods from overseas, the construction of more factories within the woods, rights for logging companies in cutting down a portion of the forests that my party will happily pass on behalf of party donor-I mean our constituents. In order to pay for most of this, the military budget will proposed to be slashed in half, diplomatic overtures towards the Prussians-Russians and other possible friendly allied states will immediately be contacted and attempted, and we could perhaps be a sort of neutral vunderwaffen, I mean vunderstatte."

Moderator:"Ah, Now the second question will be on diplomatic relations, there has been a large amount of uncertainty regarding the overall path that this nation is on, there have been some that are saying that our policy of complete defense against the reds has left us morally and socially bankrupt from beneficial agreements that we might have reached with the reds, does the current administration share this opinion, and would the opposition have alternative solutions to our woes regarding diplomacy?"

Karl Gustav Fleischer:"If you motherfuckers think for a fleeting moment that the Kingdom of Denmark-Sweden would abdicate her national sovereignty to become a puppet of Moscow, those are thoughts that will probably get you killed for how wrong you are. The state will never surrender the people of this country, and we must be vigilant in this era of unwarranted soviet aggression upon the young norde. I fully support solutions regarding giving me shit tons of money and then having me fuck off somewhere else, maybe the Bahamas to pick up sexy mamas."

Clochard Des Senges: "I have said this throughout my campaign and I'll repeat it here once more. Don't allow children to starve while guns are being fired. Social welfare programs must be passed if this nation is to survive, I have taken a gander at what little education these children get, and it's all state run propaganda about the glory of the King and supremacy of the President, just like some cult of personality shit. Our educational system must be overhauled, and in regards to the diplomatic word, I suggest we start using it. Instead of firing on that Mexican patrol boat, we could of said 'hola' to it? That is why we are lacking thousands of kroner because we had to pay them off from telling on us about the incident! It's ludicrous the amount of corruption within this fair land! It will be stopped if I am put in power."

Moderator: "That was an interesting evening to say the least, Now it is time for the great ballot box of an Islamic stat-I mean democracy be placed down once more, as people will head to the polls after hearing this debate and make up their minds. Allahu Ackbar motherfuckers, and goodnight."

*a muffled explosion and faint screams were heard as the moderator set off TNT in his jacket*

中國共產黨
Chinese Communist Party
Dihua, Xinjiang
1 January, 1936

"If that is to be the ultimate decision of the Central Committee, then I accept this responsibility and challenge," said Mao Zedong, rising to his feet. Arrayed before him were the several hundred or so members remaining of the Party's core elite. Over the last several years they had all been personally shot at, starved, and frozen in their many thousand miles march to Xinjiang. Yet here they still stood, battered but hungrier than ever for revolution. The path to revolution has never been a guaranteed one, with many twists and turns, but against all odds morale was higher than ever.

Mao smiled to himself and took comfort in the small reversal of fortune that had befallen him. Only two years ago he was nothing more than another guerilla commander eating bark and worms in the jungles of Hainan. Now he was comfortably drinking wine as the official Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party. He lifted his porcelain wine cup to the ceiling and bellowed forth a loud proclamation.

"Comrades! I promise to you today that just as I led the party through our bitter march, I will lead this vanguard party of the workers and peasants towards the liberation of all China!" said Mao.

The motley audience before him clapped and roared with enthusiasm and spirit. Their simple cloth uniforms were worn, frayed, and some tattered beyond recognition. Even so, the pale blue color of their fatigues shined bright and clear in the setting evening sun. As did the red stars that adorned their caps. This was the state of the Chinese Communist Party and the Red Army. Every man and women, and yes there were many among their ranks, bore hard, stony, faces rich with creases. Yet their bodies were freshly washed, their clothes laundered, and a fresh meal sat contently in their stomachs. There were few guarantees as to how long the hospitality of the local Soviet-backed officials would last, but for the moment Xinjiang provided a much-needed refuge all the same.

Mao settled the audience with a wave of his arm and continued to speak. "The Long March is a manifesto. It has proclaimed to the world that the Red Army is an army of heroes, while the imperialists and their running dogs, Chiang Kai-shek and his like, are impotent. It has proclaimed their utter failure to encircle, pursue, obstruct and intercept us. The Long March is also a propaganda force. It has announced to some 200 million people in eleven provinces that the road of the Red Army is their only road to liberation!"

"So comrades, starting today, I ask that we all redouble our efforts! We have lost many proud revolutionaries, so each one of us who stand now must bear the weight of destiny. Today we are ten thousand, but each day from here we shall only continue to grow in strength!"
Image

The next day, Mao assembled the members of the Central Military Commission and the Politburo in his humble resident built out of dirt bricks. The first few orders of business were simple, to seize complete control of their current base of operations. Next, their priority would be to expand and train the Red Army into a superior fighting force. Lastly, the people's war would once again be escalated with the aim of returning Communist forces to China proper.

Zhou Enlai, Mao's second in command and a key politburo member, was tasked with writing and delivering a letter to the Moscow Party headquarters. The current head of the Xinjiang SSR, a former warlord by the name of Sheng Shicai, was gracious in opening up the doors to the party, but his suspect class background, as well as his ties to the local corrupt power structure, meant that the current governing administration could not continue. The Communist Party needed a base, and Xinjiang was that base.

To: Comrade Leon Trotsky and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union
From: Vice Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, Zhou Enlai

Comrades,

The Chinese Communist Party thanks our brothers in the Soviet Union and the Comintern for their support in bringing about the people's revolution in China. Our cause has been dealt a strong blow over the last several years, but as we now refresh our own leadership under the new Chairman Mao Zedong, we ask for your aid again in bringing about liberation in China.

The first request is that the Xinjiang SSR be handed over to the administration of the Chinese Communist Party. As I'm sure our comrades here in Xinjiang will agree, this land has long been a Chinese province, and none other than the Communist Party of China knows the rhythms of its deserts and mountains better. We thank the work of the Soviet Union in liberating this land from the local warlords and Chiang Kai-shek.

The second matter is that the Chinese Communist Party humbly requests material support from the Soviet Union in creating a new Red Army, and provide us too with the arms necessary to rearm our guerrilla forces that have gone quiet in the rest of China. Our irregular cadres will infiltrate the lands of the Warlord Confederation, as well as the areas currently controlled by the KMT in Central China, and begin to build up guerrilla cells. When the time is right, our rearmed Red Army can launch a conventional assault and link up with our guerrillas in the countryside.

To accomplish this in detail, we humbly ask that the Soviet Union grant us 100 million rubles worth of arms, food, and supplies. Specifically, we require not tanks or aircraft, but mortars, light machine guns, and horses which will allow us to dominate the Chinese terrain. Furthermore, some of these funds shall be allocated to opening a military academy and arsenal here in Xinjiang, such that we can develop independence in our struggle against the Imperialists and tyrants.

For the people,
Zhou Enlai

As this communique went out to Moscow, preparations were already underway for elements of the 1st Red Front Army, under the command of General Zhu De, to incorporate the armed forces of the local puppet state into the Chinese Red Army. Xinjiang would be their base, and it would happen quickly with or without the approval of Moscow.

Further afield, communiques were also sent out to the Mongolian leader Khorloogiin Choibalsan. The plan was simple, the Chinese Communist Party would utilize lines of infiltration through Mongolia as well as through Xinjiang to reactivate communist guerrilla cells in the Warlord Confederation Provinces of Gansu, Ningxia, and Shaanxi. Once the Red Army was ready, their forces would incorporate the warlords into their party by any means necessary.

The fight for China was far from over, and in fact it had only now begun in earnest.

The Empire Expands

Manchukuo, Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere

Rikugun-Taishō of Manchukuo, Ichigomi Asahi, rubbed his eyes. It had been a long day, and he was looking forward to getting home and getting some sleep. He threw one last cursory glance over all his finished work, and began to shuffle them into his various binders. The time was about Eleven PM, and Asahi had been in his office since morning - allocating resources and administrating troop movements to prepare for further expansion. Nobody knew where, or when the attack order would be given, but the doctrine was clear. Asahi bowed to the picture of the Emperor on his wall, and grabbed his cap.

His assistant knocked, entered his office and bowed. "Ichigomi-San, I apologize for the late hour. New orders just came in from Tokyo." Asahi cursed internally. He knew what that meant. He took the two stacks of paper his assistant and thanked him. Sitting down at his desk, he saw the titles of each stack. The first was titled "Annexation of the Manchukuo State into Japanese Territory" and the second "Subjugation of the Unoccupied Northern Chinese Territories". Finally, he saw a notice that Thailand was in talks to become a state within the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere and be essentially subjugated, and the navy was deploying to northern and equatorial Pacific Islands to bring them under the control of the empire.

Asahi smiled to himself. The sun would rise on their new lands.

Internal Memo sent to Emperor Hirohito of the Empire of Great Japan by the Thai King

Hirohito-Sama,

On the topic of Thailand joining the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere, we agree on the necessity and the urgency of this matter. Although there are many differences between us, the Thai and Yamato people have much in common and a mutual need for prosperity and defence against both colonialism and communism. Regarding the manner in which this will take place, here is our procedure, created in concordance with your military. This method will be effective, beneficial and will leave both of our peoples happy.
    1. The King stays in place. He will remain a cultural, religious and governmental head of the Thai people. He will, however, be a tributary to Emperor Hirohito.
    2. Thailand joins the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere, symbolically becoming part of the empire.
    3. Thailand maintains all control over its civilian governance, police, policy, et cetera.
    4. There is a melding of economies to ensure mutual prosperity. This will mean some economic reform on Thailand's end to a more state-controlled method.
    5. Thai soldiers now join the IJA and IJN, are integrated into the rank structure. However, due to the symbolic importance of the Thai soldiers fighting for the King, this must happen slowly.
    6. Japanese army and naval bases are built in Thailand and Japanese military operations will be run from there.
This is a simplified version of the actual merger, but it encompasses all the changes. We thank you for your time, and salute you as our new sovereign. It is our honour, Hirohito-Sama.

Naval Dispatch to IJN Command

---conquest of Pacific Islands going perfectly
---little to no resistance on habitated islands
---suitable Naval Base candidates have been selected
---preliminary ports are under construction
---shipment of materials for full bases recommended
---Kempeitei detachment for control of locals requested

Army Dispatch to IJA Command

---war in Northern China going well
---each battleground averages 10km a day; low resistance
---many warlords have fled to china or surrender
---occasional resistance is effective, brutal
---larger territories further west, expecting costly combat
---air wing deploys with chemical bombs for nests
---morale low in some groups; recommend recreation
---armour often ineffective against suicide infantry

Announcement from the Crown

Japan has announced a cooperation pact between the Deutsches Reich and Japan today, specifically on military development. While Japan and the DR are allies and trading partners, this is the first time they have militarily cooperated. The DR will send experts to help the IJA develop better tanks and armour, and in return the IJN will help Germany develop an aircraft carrier and train Luftwaffe pilots in landing on a carrier deck.

Japan also announced that it has begun incorporating islands in the southern and equatorial Pacific to build IJN bases and ports. It was also announced that Manchukuo had been annexed, Thailand had joined the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere, and an invasion had been launched of warlord-controlled northern china, to be called Kanshō Chitai.

Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

Moscow, Russian SFSR
Kremlin Senate

A meeting with the attendance of the leaders of the Red Army and members of the Politburo, on the issue of the increasing tensions with the West. The General Secretary of the AUCP, Leon Trotsky, stood from his seat to address the meeting. "Comrades, I must stress the issue that the proletarian revolution is yet to be complete. It is evident that various Western nations have begun to posture against us, we must preemptively strike them in order for us to gain the upper hand in this imminent war, which will inspire the proletariat in the West to rise up and abolish the rule of the bourgeoisie in their states."

With the suggestion of a protracted war against the West, many members of the AUCP Politburo show worried glances. The Chairman of the Council of
People's Commissars of the Soviet Union, Vyacheslav Molotov stands up to argue to Trotsky. "The problem with that Comrade Trotsky, is that you are just trying to enforce your theory of permanent revolution once again? Wouldn't it be better to continue industrializing the Union, rather than focusing on declaring a likely long protracted war against the West, that we will likely lose?"

Trotsky glances at Molotov, "That's why we must preemptively attack them, to avoid a long protracted war. The proletariat in the West will ensure our victory, being that they will likely rise up against the state, once we begin our attack."

The members of the Politburo and the Red Army glance at each other in confusion. People's Commissar for Defense of the Soviet Union Kliment Voroshilov argues, "Do we have any reports that support the idea that the proletariat of the West would instantly rise up and fight with us against the bourgeoisie? We need solid proof that they would support such preemptive attack on the West."

As Trotsky was about to respond to Voroshilov, he was interrupted as his assistant entered the meeting room. "Sir, we have a letter from the CCP in Xinjiang."

Trotsky then opened the letter, and then said, "Hmm...I'll have to adjourn this meeting now."

As Trotsky left the meeting room, Molotov and Voroshilov took centre stage, "Comrades...It is evident that Comrade Trotsky is leading the Union into ruin. He exclaims his theory of permanent revolution, yet it is outrightly flawed and criticized by Comrade Lenin!", exclaimed Molotov.

Many in the room sounded their agreement, "His incessant delusion of a spontaneous revolution in the West is false, given the fact that they would have little power to go against an organized military.", Voroshilov added.

"Comrades, it is evident it is time for a change in leadership before Trotsky leads the country into ruin. Our Comrade Stalin in Georgia has been developing his theory of the Vanguard's Revolution, given that Georgia has even become more industrialized than most of our constituent republics. Whilst we struggle to feed our population, as Trotsky outrightly ignored our agriculture sector, leading the formation of Kulak landlords, who seem to impede any attempt by the state to collectivize their farms, at such an ailing time.", added Molotov.

Mikhail Kalinin, the head of state of the Soviet Union, who in reality held little to no power, addressed the meeting room. "I agree with Comrades Molotov and Voroshilov, we must change our ways now if we are truly capable of competing and beating the West, before its too late."

With the symbolical go-ahead by Kalinin, many in the room began to express their displeasure to Trotsky's rule of the USSR. Molotov then turns towards to Voroshilov, "Its time to get Comrade Stalin back to Moscow."

"I'll call him immediately.", replied Voroshilov.

As Trotsky came back from the meeting, he goes straight to his desk, in order to write his response to the letter from the CCP. After several minutes, Trotsky finishes the letter and calls for his assistant. "Send this to Zhou Enlai of the CCP."

"Will do, Comrade Trotsky.", replies his assistant.

To: Comrade Zhou Enlai and the Chinese Communist Party

Comrades,

The Soviet Union recognizes that the Chinese Communist Party is in need of aid after the strong blow dealt by Chiang Kai-shek's Kuomintang. We will gladly accept your request for the transfer of the administration of the Xinjiang SSR into CCP control. Moreover, we will accept your request in training a new Red Army for the CCP, in order for you to continue the proletarian struggle in China. In accordance, we will also accept your request for 100 million rubles worth of arms, food, and supplies. Hopefully, by aiding the CCP, the proletarian revolution in China will once again regain its strength, and fight back the imperialist and the bourgeoisie.

Signed,

As Voroshilov came back from the meeting with Trotsky and the Politburo, he immediately went to the office of the commander of the Moscow Military District, Marshal Semyon Budyonny. "Comrade Budyonny, its time mobilize the military district, the contingency plan on Trotsky is now in full effect."

"Oh? Very well, what about the potential issue of Marshal Tukhachevsky, being that he supports Trotsky?", inquired Marshal Budyonny.

"He shouldn't be an issue, once Stalin is in power, he will fall in line.", replied Voroshilov.

After talking to Marshal Budyonny, Voroshilov went straight to his office. He then picked up his office telephone, "Operator, connect me to First Secretary Stalin."

After several seconds of waiting, someone picks up the call, "Hello, who is this?" inquired a young girly voice.

"Svetlana is this you? Its Uncle Voroshilov, tell your father that's its time for him to come back to Moscow immediately."

"Ok.", replied Svetlana as she ended the call.

"The modern revisionists and reactionaries call us Stalinists, thinking that they insult us and, in fact, that is what they have in mind. But, on the contrary, they glorify us with this epithet; it is an honor for us to be Stalinists for while we maintain such a stand the enemy cannot and will never force us to our knees.."

An Overview of IJA Strategy in Kanshō Chitai

Diplomatic Telegram Sent to London, Washington, and Bonn

To Whom It May Concern,

We are aware of the surprise with which the world reacted to our recent conquests. Although we are still in good relations, we would like to take this time to explain our motivations as well as our attack plans and what is happening right now.

Our first action was a partial incorporation of the Kingdom of Thailand. This included a merger of our economies and an incorporation of the Thai military into IJA and IJN command structures. The King, an important symbolic head of Thailand, will remain in power, although as a tributary to the Japanese Emperor. We did this to have IJA influence in Southeast Asia and to be able to project the IJN into Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as further into the Indian Ocean.

The other minor action we took was the subjugation of several small pacific islands, on which we are currently building airfields and naval ports. This is to solidify our grip on the West Pacific and counter potential Soviet buildups in the area.

The largest action taken by our Imperial Militaries is the invasion of warlord-controlled Northern China, which, once it has been subjugated, we will call Kanshō Chitai. This was the most important strategic action for us, and it will be the most costly. At the moment, China under the control of the Kuomintang is unstable, and the threat of the Communist Party is still real. As such, we seek to cut off the large border contact that the USSR has with China. This invasion will half the border they have to guard, which will be a huge boon to the Republic of China.

Our invasion is being accomplished with mostly infantry and air forces. Due to our current lack of good armour, we have been bombing cities and outposts before sending troops in to capture strategic locations. Our forces are advancing quickly at the moment, because the warlords in this area control small areas and are insignificant. However, within a week, we expect to meet heavy resistance from big players in the region, who have potentially banded together to resist Japanese advances. However, within a few months, we expect to have the area under control and we will just need to clear the area of guerillas. Right now, suicide bombings and lone attacks against our infrastructure and supply lines are very common.

Morale is low among certain groups which have been hit hard by these attackers. We are taking a week-long break from advancing to celebrate and raise morale of our soldiers.

Thank you, gentlemen,

The Republic of China

Nanjing

Chiang Kai-Shek stood in the Republican army’s war room as frantic aides rushed around to chart Japan’s invasion of the loose confederation of Northern warlords. It was hard to keep track since the spies in Manchuria and the Northern territories were unable to do much without being noticed by the Imperial Japanese counter intelligence, but some progress was made. Ir was clear that at this moment, the Japanese were able to advance without much resistance. It seems the mo w organized Japanese army was able to easily take them out. The military command in china was starting to press this fact as a way to push the idea of a modernized Chinese army.

“Sir,” Li Zongren, active commander of the army addressed Chiang, “if you would permit me, I would like to outline our planned military developments and doctrine.”

“Proceed, general,” Chiang replied,”I would like to know how you plan on building up our army to be able to free China.”

“Thank you sir,” Li began,”our armies are currently small compared to our population, and are smaller than the Japanese forces. It is clear that if we want to unify China from the communists and Japanese, we will need to expand or forces. Our industry however is in its infant stages and won’t be able to independently produce much at all. That is why with the introduction of our standard 1935 rifle, we will be able to produce millions within a few years to equip our soldiers. However, we will also be producing simple anti-tank guns and artillery as our main support rolls. The artillery will level the battle field for our hordes of soldiers to rich in, and the anti tank will take out more heavily armoires emplacements and vehicles. Regrettably, we won’t be producing much as far as tanks go since our industry isn’t developed enough for that. At most, we could make trucks for the infantry and some lightly armored support vehicles.”

“Good,”Chiang replied optimistically,”China’s industry will need to expand anyway. I believe that this year, the Republic will focus on industrial and military expansion. The state will encourage foreign enterprise to create factories here for better prices and will be expanding our anti-communist police force. The establishment of the Fǎngòng jǐngchá will stabilize this country. However, I need you to make sure that the police don’t act too brutal. Make sure they remain helpful and care for their communities. Excessive brutality will only alienate our cause.”

With that, they parted ways and a few days later, a couple proclamations were released:

The Formation of the Fǎngòng jǐngchá

As of today, this new police force (FJ)will be created under the objective of helping the people of China and eradicating the Communist menace. They are under the authority of the police force and will act under their discretion. Standard gear will be given and speciallized units with heavier rifles will only be used in situations deemed dangerous for the people.

A formal Invitation to any Western Aligned Nation and their companies

To all nations that are not communist and wish to participate, The Republic of China invites you and your companies to invest in our land and create factories there. Our only conditions are hat you employ Chinese people, you help develop the land around your property and you supply a small 5% tax with money or goods to the government. The seal is negotiable as needed.

Secret message to Reichskanzler Adolf Hitler

Honorable Chancellor,

We understand that while your nation is at peace with the communists, you wish to soon reclaim your German homeland. We are in a very similar situation as you, but we don’t just have communists on our soil. Nevertheless, we have a proposition for you. We wish to exchange commodities we both need. We can provide land for you to test and create your new weapons of war without aggravating the Communists across the Elbe, and we can provide workers and tax emeptions gor your arms manufacturers. All we would request in return is some military advisors to help us improve our army and we would like to purchase some of your artillery and armor. We hope to hear from you soon,

President Chiang Kai-Shek

Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic

Baku, Azerbaijan SSR
Chairman's Residence

Majid Afandiyev was not expecting to be face to face with the man himself, Stalin. He was told Stalin was coming and simply dismissed it, Stalin would have no reason to be coming to his residence, there simply wasn't. Yet here he was, the former leader of the entire Soviet Armed Forces within the doorway. With a smile that would slice into him like a sickle, then to be pounded by a hammer.

"Comrade Afandiyev, it is a pleasure to see you. May you let me in."

The question was unsuspected and caught Afandiyev off guard, surely this was just something that would be beneficial? "Of course...of course. Come in."

The two would then enter, of course unknown to Afandiyev, the door was propped open by the slimmest of wooden blocks to keep the door open. So that if it needed to be open, it could do so without a sound. But, back to the two. They sat down at a table with two comfortable chairs, an aide brought both of them drinks, Stalin's request. Now, it was a tricky game that was to be played.

"Now, Chairman Afandiyev....You know that the current situation both outside the Soviet Union and within are rather tedious, that alone little can be done..."

A nod was given in return to that statement, "I know First Secretary Stalin, but what does that hav-"

"I am not finished, Chairman." The room was silent, the words cut through Afandiyev like a knife, "What I am saying our fellow republics must work together, so that we can properly prepare ourselves for such instances that will be necessary to fight again. Don'y you agree?"

Afandiyev breathed a sigh of relief, seeing it was simply talks of cooperation. "Of course I do, working together is always a good thing to do. Now, what did you have in mind?"

Stalin smiled again still unsettling to the Chairman, "Simply put it. That I wish to take Governmental control over Azerbaijan, which you are going to give me."

And that is what it was, the room was silent as Afandiyev stared at the Georgian First Secretary. Shocked by the words he spoke, words of take over. Words of aggression, it only caused him to laugh. All a ruse. "Surely, Comrade Stalin that you are simply remembering days of old. When you could lead some men to take some land."

Stalin looked up behind Afandiyev, because the sound of a pistol being loaded and pressing against the back of the Chairman's head proved himself wrong. The door was silently pushed open by Stalin's secret service, whom now filled the room and giving dominance to Stalin. "Why yes, Comrade Afandiyev. I am indeed leading some men to take some land, specifically yours. Which you yourself will be announcing that you will be giving it to me."

With those words, it was a clue as to what to come next.

Radio announcement of the people of the Azerbaijan SSR
It has come to fruition that the need to stay strong in these tough times. With chaos in Iran and the threat of invasion from Turkey, that we must find means of making ourselves stronger. That we must do everything within our capable power, as workers, farmers, and the proletariat to find strength against those that wish to become our masters. Making us slaves. And abusing our position as the people, for their own gain.

With such a thing, a friend has given us this means. Given us the chance to survive against the upcoming threat of the ones that wish to make them our masters. One who has fought them for so long and lead the armies we so needed to victory, to success. First Secretary Stalin has come to me, with an offer that is more needed than ever before.

We are to unite with the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic and become one. Where both our nations are to be run the same, so that we may rise against the threats from both within and without. A Transcaucasian Soviest Socialist Republic, where we may rise again as one united entity. As a united people. As the united workers of the world! For this, I wish to thank Stalin for his generosity. For his kindness and bravery. May we move forward with him forever more.

"T-There....I did it...What's going to happen with me now?" The Chairman looked over at Stalin who held a glass filled with alcohol in his hands, his secret service men standing beside him.

"Now, comrade Chairman. You will be arrested after finding documents within your room, for plotting against the Union."

"Y-YOU CANNOT DO THIS TO ME! YOU CAN'T DO THIS STALIN!"

He simply smiled, then it faded. "I am going to do what I need to do, now goodbye. Men." -He waved his hand towards the Chairman's direction- "Take him away."

The agents stepped forward, the Chairman tried to resist but was then beaten by clubs when he continued. He was then dragged away when one of the agents brought Stalin a phone, taking it he held it to his ear. "Yes? What is it, I am currently busy." He listened to what the one on the other side had to say, nodding thoughtfully before setting the phone down.

"Alright, get me a train ready. We are heading to Moscow, it seems that my plans are going to be moving faster than I would have thought. Guess my support was larger than it would've seen....and now...Trotsky...You are going to be the one who falls to me." He snapped to attention and walked out the door, followed by his guards. A car was already long awaiting for them, they were heading to the train station either way. But it seems Stalin had a different destination to head to, he was heading where he rightfully belonged. Stalin is heading to Moscow, where the plans will be set in stone. Now, only time will tell what will truly happen.

Kingdom of Denmark-Sweden
Strömstad
Palace of the President

The bitterly cold winter air filled the skies as the thousands of politicians, press and military members all huddled in their seats and stands as an elderly clock tower chimed twelve times. With a slight nod, two soldiers march in a straight line while holding their pistols gangster style with the 'slightly less loud safety' off, the one and only firearm choices for the Dano-Swedish military. To contrast with the shocking display of formality and pomp circumstance was the stumbling and booze smelling President-elect, who swore at a lamp post for existing and had a lengthy debate about tax reform... to a brick wall. Needless to say that the bricks were now well informed about how there should be a Peanut Butter and Infidel tax as well as a fart tax. As one foot was surprisingly put infront of the other, Fleischer stumbled his way up the stage and burped loudly, the microphone echoing that to turn the muttering and giggling crowd still as my grandmother's pickled lamas.
"I'm drunk as fuck, so Let's get this over with." With a turn, he took notice of King Hakkon VII, who was in a pink tutu while holding the royal cheese dip.
"Repeat this shit after me. I, Karl Gustav Fleischer."
"I, Karl Gustav Fleischer."
"Swear an oath of loyalty to the State, the Crown, and Billy Mays."
"Swear an oath of loyalty to the State, the Crown, and Billy Mays."

"Knowing the responsibilities of the head of government of the Kingdom of Denmark-Sweden, and being responsive to the dumbass voters that elected you."
"Will vow to use the military as a tool to both defend and oppress the citizens of this shithole country."
"Will vow to use the military as a tool to both defend and oppress the citizens of this shithole country."
"Accept this political position of President."
"Accept this political position as President."
With a smile, both men shook hands and high fived one another as a banjo concert jammed Smash Mouth, the new national anthem of Denmark-Sweden. Once that was done, he turned his still drunken form (after two failed attempts) towards the microphone and began his rant.

"You know who's my bestest friend, the king. And you know who's an asshole? Those goddamn Soviets. I think it would be easier for all of us if we just decided to attack them. You know what, That'll be my first official act as President. I'll declare war on the Soviet Union. Oh, and my second official act as President will be to order the execution of any dumbass soviet citizens that attempted to enter glorious Denmark-Sweden. Now that I've screwed everyone that I know, I'm going to sum this up by snorting a baby up my no-wait what do you mean I'll get sued for that? Fine itchy and twitchy, I wont snort a baby up my nose, I'll snort two. Now then, I am ordering general mobilization of every man, woman and child into the armed forces. And If they're crippled, we'll use them as landmines. Every man's gotta purpose, right? No? well fuck you then, you die now!"
*bang*
With the annoyance dealt with, Hakkon VII stepped forwards into the microphone as Fleischer took a step back.
"Now that mista motha fucka's been iced, I vow to the people that we shall die with honor and for my amusement, mostly the latter because running a country is boring. You know what's fun? Starting wars and blowing shit up. That's fucking fun. Oh, and every man and women shall receive a presidential blunt and a bag of cocaine as a parting gift for the front. I have not consulted any military experts. Hell, the last sane one fled a year ago to Switzerland! The Insane military leadership just hates drinking vodka and eating potatoes, and last night we went to a diner and I saw some Russian motherfucker doing those two things. Holy shit they were pissed, they wanted me to declare war on them at once, so I said, 'why the fuck not?' and that's why I'm doing this. Long Live this shitty country, Death to Zimbabwe! Death to Skinny Jeans! Long Live Soft Serve Ice Cream!"
Once the speech was given, both men snorted a full line of cocaine in front of the crowd.

Gotland Naval Base
The sounds of anchors being lifted out of the water, their chains dragging vertically up their metallic and iron plated hulls was a soothing sound to Admiral Wilhelmina Packard as she started another cigarette. Packard, who was one of the few female admirals within the Navy, had been addicted to the cigarettes from a young age, piratically sucking on a cigar when she was kicking around in her mother's womb. It looked perfectly healthy besides problems with her teeth falling out and more wrinkles on her skin than usual, along with bad breath, breathing difficulties and the occasional stroke, she felt great. Soon the nice sound ended as an officer entered the bridge.
"Report."
"Admiral, all ships have lifted anchors and are begining to maneuver into battle formation."
With a slight smile, Packard took another long drag on her cigarette before blowing smoke in the young ensign's face, causing him to react in a fit of harsh coughs. To think a couple minutes ago she was cursing at the sky about the direct order she had received from the capital in the wasting of military resources on such an endeavor that would probably kill them. She was forced to suppress a chuckle at a thought that anything would be sunk or even damaged by the 'expert' Swedish gunners, most of whom got their information from watching the Muppets on the radio.
"Excellent. This flotilla of misfits and drunken captains is to sortie from the harbor and sink whatever other ship we can see. From the direct order I received from Strömstad, this fleet is to raid enemy shipping until ammunition is exhausted, fuel is spent and blood is spilled. We are to become the new vikings of a new age, an even shittier age than beforehand! Long Live the King! Death to Mexican Wrestling!"
"Yes M'am."
With that, the howl of approval from the crews of the ships were heard as the fleet began it's movements towards the Soviet Union, guns at the ready to sink anything that floated and didn't sound like an Ikea or Lego product.

Oh Hiel Hitler my friends! I would love it if my navy had like a battleship. I would expect my fleet to get working on it, but they're busy snorting cocaine up their goddamn noses! A goddamn shame really, so that's where you come in. You get to build my ship, and I'll cut you a deal of like 10% of all minerals that we mine go towards you, no fuck that... um, 15% of all metallic alloys, metals, and shiny rocks we find in the ground goes towards you, no no, fuck that... um, How about 30%, yes, yes indeed this will do nicely! All you have to do is build us two large ass battleships. These vessels will be armed with 4 twin 15 inch main guns, six twin mount 6 inch side guns, twenty two 1.1 mm Machine guns, 12 flak cannons and other details that I'll go over once I ship my most trusted ambassador of Squidward Tentacles down.

Kolmården Forest

A little bunny was happily running along the road, minding it's own business, sniffing flowers, shitting everywhere it pleased, it was great to be this rabbit. He has a name, this rabbit's name is Hops. Hops the Rabbit loved shitting everywhere and hopping along. One day, the rabbit was shitting and hopping when a black limousine crashed into the narrator's house-wait what the fuck-
"What the fuck did we hit?!"
"I think we hit the goddamn narrator. I can still smell his under cooked batch of pork ribs in the oven. Fuck him. Now then, hire a new goddamn narrator and let us continue on with the story."
With a curt nod, a new narrator is now narrating the story and the actions of the king and the convoy as they made their way towards a wooded enclosure, the convoy soon stopping as the king got out, followed by several military leaders.
"General I Ama Dumbass. How goes the armored initiative?"
"Excellent, your elected majesty, I have a total of three prototypes readied for testing. The first shall be a light tank, the second will be another light tank, and the third will be a proposed armored car design I've been thinking of.Now if you will just follow me to the bunker.."
With a smile, the ten generals and the king entered the bunker, peering through sets of binoculars at a rumbling tank that appeared.
"Now this tank is called the skitbehållare Fyra , or shit tank-4. It's got a 37mm main gun and a single vicker's .303mm machine gun housed in front. It's based off some modified Italian Interwar era designs that we snorted cocaine on. We've expanded out the hull to put a 6 cylinder gas powered engine inside for a top speed of 20 miles per hour, though It's range is limited at 70 miles. It is manned by a single gunner and driver. The driver also is the operator of the ball mount machine gun next to the steering wheel and controls of the tank. It contains thirty eight 37mm Fixed QF shells and 900 rounds of ammunition for the .303mm machine gun."
The skitbehållare Fyra rotated it's turret around slowly as it continued to move, managing to avoid getting stuck in a ditch. Soon enough, the tank halted, slight squeaks being heard between the riveted armor as a stunned delay soon gave way to a bite of the gun, firing out at an old ladies car that was parked illegally on the tracks. The car exploded in several directions as a small fireball erupted, followed by a cloud of smoke from the shot at the civilian dumbass. With that, the tank then turned around after twenty six seconds and fell into the ditch that it had avoided before, the driver getting out and killing himself for the incompetent display as two reindeer were hitched up as tows to get the tank out of the ditch.
Hakkon VII soon removed the binoculars from his eyes and smiled.
"This tank is a piece of shit. It's our piece of shit, and I shall demand enough tanks for two companies of 40 vehicles of this design. Congratulations, you just got your first production order. The Dano-Swedish King wishes to put a payment of 2 million Kroner down as a payment."
"80 tanks sir? Are you sure you wish for that much, I mean, our company's a moderately sized force, but we're going to need distribution centers, the actual 37mm main guns, workers we can hire and-"
"I shall have that arranged before you leave. Oh, and make it 5 million Kroner for another company on top of the two I'm already wanting. The Dano-Swedish royally inbred family shall eagerly back you financially in the military's great crusade against communism."
The King then took a look at the reindeer that had helped pull the tank out of the ditch. Approaching their owner, he sniffed their hides.
"How much for the reindeer?"
"It's not for sa-"
*gunshot*
With a whistle on the smoke emanating from his Colt 1911 handgun, the King put the firearm away and dragged one of the generals over to the reindeer.
"Two words. Reindeer Calvary. That's fucking awesome! I want you to be the one that domesticates and trains them for anti tank operations. We're going to have suicidal Reindeer drivers with bombs on their chests. It'll be fucking awesome."
"Sir. That's completely cruel and inhuman-"
*another goddamn gunshot*
With a smile, Hakkon VII took several notes about reindeer Calvary as they got back into the limousines, leaving with the orders of the light tank and Calvary in the mental notes or nightmares of every eyewitness to the event.

Reichskanzler's Office
Reichstag
Bonn
26 January 1936

Hitler read the letters from China and Denmark-Sweden and then looked up at the young woman who delivered them. "Danke, Fraulein. You may return to your work. I apologize for keeping you waiting." The young woman nodded and turned away, saying, "Danke. Have a good day, Herr Reichskanzler." As she walked for the door, Hitler couldn't help but watch her, her hips swaying in an intoxicating, feminine manner that made him yearn for the more vigorous days of his youth. He shook his head as she left his office, thinking to himself, Really, Adolf, you are much too old for such a young woman. He returned his gaze to the two letters on the desk in front of him and then reached for his telephone. He quickly dialed his secretary and waited a moment. A smooth, warm female voice answered. "Ja, Herr Reichskanzler?"
"Brigitte, please call Stefan. I have a few things I wish to discuss with him."
"Of course, Herr Reichskanzler. Should I ask him to rush?"
"Yes, please. Thank you, Fraulein." Hitler hung up the phone and returned to the letters. He wasn't entirely surprised by the Dano-Swedish letter, nor by their declaration of war on the Soviet Union. His main concern was the risk of losing the Dano-Swedish ports to the Soviets, which would give them access to the North Sea in the event of war. He slammed his fist on his desk, shouting, "DAMN YOU, Hakkon. What the fuck is wrong with you?"

Several hours had gone by before Stefan Frueh finally arrived in Hitler's office. "I apologize for the delay in my arrival, Herr Reichskanzler. You know how difficult the Dano-Swedes can be." Hitler chuckled and said, "As a matter of fact, the Dano-Swedes are part of the reason I called for you. Apparently, the brainless fuck that they made king, Hakkon, has decided to declare war on the Soviets." Stefan just stared at Hitler, his mouth agape and his eyed wide with bewilderment. "For the love of God, why?"
"Damned if I know, Stefan. But it's another fire to put out, much like the Japanese invasion of Northern China a few weeks ago. Speaking of China, they want to discuss arms shipments and the provision of military advisers. I wanted to get your input on this before I talked to the OKW."
"Well, Herr Reichskanzler, I'm sure that it will beneficial in the long run to arm and train the Chinese. It's a large country and it can either be a big help or a big hindrance to any war with the Soviets."
"Precisely my thoughts, more or less. My primary concern is what the Japanese will think. They are, officially, allied with us and I'm worried they'll take this as the Chinese gearing up to attack them and us siding with the Chinese. The last thing we need at such a time is internal strife with our allies."
"That is true, sir. Personally, I think the Japanese will be alright with it. I'll still speak with their ambassador, though. Make sure that there is no confusion."
"Excellent, Stefan. Now, back to the Dano-Swedish question. I imagine that the Soviet Ambassadors will be beating down your door with protests in a few days, demanding that we bring them under control. I have a simple response I want you to give them."
"The Dano-Swedish decision to seek war with the Communist International is not sanctioned by the German Reich or the European Alliance. We strongly condemn the actions of Denmark-Sweden and demand that they cease and desist all military operations against the Communist International or face reprisals from the European Alliance."
"Pretty much. I knew there was a reason I picked you as Foreign Minister. Do what you can to smooth over the Soviets and the Japanese. I'll talk with the OKW about a potential military response. Can you put together a statement to give to the League of Nations?"
"Of course, sir."
"Good. I'd like it on my desk by the first."

Feldwebel Dominik Bach stood in the open turret hatch of his Panzer IV, looking through his binoculars as the Pioneers raced their Hanomags to the Rhine. It was imperative that the Pioneers be able to rapidly install their bridge sections across the river, since if and when a war with the Soviets broke out, Bach and his fellow Panzers would be useless until the pioneers bridged the Elbe. Unless they could bridge the Elbe, there would not be a liberation of their fellow Germans in the East.
First Panzer Army, a collection of over 400,000 men and 3,500 tanks in 15 divisions, had been running this same drill for the last two weeks and each day the Pioneers were faster. They were learning new ways to cut down on the time to deploy the bridge and he had even heard them talking about ways that the Army could make it even faster. Hydraulic rams attached to pivot joints that would hold a bridge on a tank chassis before lifting the bridge off the tank and over the river or other obstacle. He had to chuckle at that idea. The Army was still in the middle of replacing a large number of undersized, underarmed, and underarmored tanks. Adding a new vehicle procurement line to the mix wasn't going to happen, no matter how useful it might be.

Well, for the most part, he thought. The powers that be were finally getting around to upgrading the Panzer IIIs with a 5 centimeter anti-tank gun and rumor had it that the Panzer IVs would get a 7.5 centimeter gun next year. He looked down at the stubby L/24 gun in his turret and sighed. Reichskanzler Hitler had watched a test as the then new Panzer III and IV tanks fired at various targets. Infantry targets, trucks, tanks, bunkers, MG nests, the works. The Panzer III's little 37mm gun could do in the trucks just fine but it couldn't do anything to the other targets, including several Great War era designs, like the Mark V and the A7V at most ranges. It was virtually ineffective against tanks at longer ranges, despite having a good chance to hit them at almost two kilometers distance. His own tank's short 75mm howitzer performed even worse against tanks but much better against the other targets. While Hitler had been quite impressed and congratulated all the tankers on their fine work, the Army itself was quite concerned. The Panzer III and Panzer IV were, in 1934, intended to be the best tanks in the world. The future of armored warfare and the tip of the spear for when the Reich liberated East Germany from Soviet oppression. And now they realized that their tanks lacked the firepower to defeat even Great War relics and one of them couldn't even hurt infantry well.
So it was there that the Panzerkommission, the Army's Tank Research and Development Board, decided to begin developing larger, high velocity cannons. Some tanks, it was decided, would retain the stubby 75mm L/24 gun for infantry support but the majority of tanks would be upgunned with proper, high velocity anti-tank guns that could reliably defeat armor at long ranges while still being easy to operate. It had been a bumpy road, to say the least. For some reason known only to Panzerkommission, putting a long barrel, high velocity gun in either tank was a three year task that had plenty of hiccups and shortfalls. It seemed like every month they had a new reason why it didn't work. "The recoil is too long." "The turret ring is too small." "The breech is too large." "The shells don't fit." "The recoil damages the radio." On and on it had gone until they finally came up with one that worked in the Panzer III.
The 5 centimeter KwK 35 that was now being fitted to new production Panzer IIIs and would, eventually, be retrofitted on the ones currently in service, could reliably kill any tank currently in service (according to the brass) at up to 2,000 meters. Bach didn't know if that was true and he didn't really care. He commanded a Panzer IV and his tank wouldn't see it's 7.5 centimeter KwK 36 until next year, because they still had testing to do, for some reason. He had also heard a rumor that they were making dedicated assault guns to carry both the 7.5 centimeter L/24 gun and the new 7.5 centimeter L/43 gun. He had no idea if these were true but if they were, it would certainly make assaulting the Elbe Line much easier.

"FELDWEBEL! Signal from Company. We are to begin the crossing!" Bach dropped into the turret and looked at the radioman, Jörg Fink. Fink just looked up at him and Bach turned to the front of the tank. "DRIVER, FORWARD! FOLLOW THE COMMANDER!"
"JAWOHL!" was the shouted reply from Stefan Nacht as the tank's 300 horsepower Maybach HL-120 petrol engine roared and the tank lurched forward, racing to the bridge at 16 kilometers an hour. Bach stood back up, gazing forward at the bridge as his tank joined hundreds of others on a mad dash for the Rhine River. He had no idea why the OKH decided that the Rhine was a good place to train to cross the Elbe. The Elbe was fortified with sea mines, land mines, machine gun nests, artillery pieces, barbed wire, and more anti-tank obstacles than could be counted. The Elbe had been fortified with the aim of making any crossing suicidal and that's exactly what it would be if and when the First Panzer Army ever had to cross it.

As news reaches Moscow of the Japanese aggression on the Warlord Confederation, Trotsky called forth a meeting of the Politburo and representatives of the Red Army once again. Before entering the meeting room, Voroshilov conferred with Molotov. "I have reports that Comrade Stalin is on his way to Moscow, around 1-2 days."

"Good, we can finally get rid of that fool, Trotsky.", replied Molotov.

Trotsky stood up to speak, "Comrades, the imperialist of Japan have begun a new offensive into the territory of the Chinese. We must stop their aggression and pre-emptively invade Japan, in order to stop their aggression against our Chinese brothers."

Marshal Voroshilov stands up and exclaims, "Comrade Trotsky, you must understand that fact if we were to attack Japan, we will drag into the Western nations to aid them."

"Well Comrade Voro...", as Trotsky was about to reply to the Marshal's remarks.

He was then interrupted by his aide, who seemed to act quite anxiously. "Sir, you need to look at this immediately," said the aide hurriedly.

As Trotsky opened the letter, his eyes widened. "What is it about, Comrade Trotsky?", inquire Molotov.

Trotsky put down the letter on the meeting table, "Comrades, it seems like we are at war."

"At war?!", exclaimed Voroshilov, as he grabbed the letter.

"It seems the Kingdom of Denmark-Sweden has declared war on us, for no apparent reason.", exclaimed Trotsky.

The sound of bewilderment is heard across the meeting room. "I call for a vote on the temporary suspension of the leadership of Comrade Trotsky.", exclaims Molotov.

All hands are raised, and the many begin to rush out of the meeting room, "You exclaim that we must preemptively attack the West, and now they preemptively attack us! What's the grand plan now?!", exclaimed Voroshilov as he left the meeting room.

With the war against Denmark-Sweden, Voroshilov declared the entire mobilization of the Finnish military, and the Leningrad, Volga–Ural, and Moscow Military Districts. In accordance, in the war room was bustling with activity. With the commander of the Leningrad Military District, Boris Shaposhnikov, coordinating Soviet Forces in the district. "We need to move our forces into Finland immediately, which armies are to closest?", inquired General Shaposhnikov as he overlooks the map.

"It seems its the 9th Army stationed in Helsinki and the 14th Army stationed in Murmansk. We also have the 7th Army here in Leningrad.", replied Shaposhnikov's aide-de-camp, Aleksandr Vasilevsky.

"Good, have them move towards the Swedish border and fortify their positions and have any available air wings mobilize immediately."

General Shaposhnikov then looked towards the Baltic Sea. "As for the navy?"

"We have received a telegraph from Kronshtadt, they ordered the entire Red-Banner Baltic Sea Fleet to patrol our coast, with key emphasis on the protection Gulf of Finland and Riga. Moreover, they have ordered our submarine contingent to patrol the Baltic Sea to prevent any attempts of Danish-Swedish ships from entering our territorial waters.", replied Vasilevsky.

"Hmm...very well, have Marshal Voroshilov updated with these reports. Tell the commander of the 7th Army to move to Finland as well and immediate snap drills for our coastal batteries.", replied Shaposhnikov.

"Will do, General."

Panzerkommission Headquarters
Munich
German Reich
21 February 1936

Generalmajor Heinz Guderian walked through the motor pool, looking at the collection of Panzer III and IV assault gun variants that had just been delivered by Krupp for testing. The Sturmgeschütz III and IV, based on the Panzer III and Panzer IV respectively, were blocky, turretless beasts, armed with two different guns. One was the 7.5 centimeter L/24 low velocity gun, which the Panzerkommission had decided was excellent for infantry support but poor for anti-tank warfare. The second was the 7.5 centimeter L/43 gun that they were currently installing on new build Panzer IVs. Looking at the dozen trial vehicles in front of him, he found it difficult to tell the difference. The StuG IV had a rounder gun mantlet and a flatter rear superstructure while the StuG III was tapered at the rear and had a square, flat gun mantlet. Both had the same guns. Three of the StuG IVs and three of the StuG IIIs were armed with the L/43 guns while the other three of each type were armed with the L/24 guns. On paper, the L/43 gun variants were called "Panzer Jäger" or "Tank Hunter", due to the effectiveness of the L/43 gun against armor. The L/24 variants were called "Sturmgeschütz" or "Assault Guns", due to the effectiveness of the L/24 against infantry and fortifications. In practice, Guderian and his fellows had taken to calling all four variants StuGs.
He smiled inwardly. StuG. It had a nice ring to it. It rolled off the tongue easily and was easy to remember and could be said quickly if needed. Perfect shorthand, assuming these vehicles passed their trials. The Panzerkommission took no chances with vehicle testing. These 12 StuGs were about to undergo rigorous tests, including a third of their number would be used as targets to see how well the armor performed against various anti-tank guns. The vehicles that didn't get shot would be driven across Germany on a reliability test, half of them entirely on road and the other half entirely off road. From the Sudetenland, across Austria, along the French border, along the border with Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands, up to the North Sea Coast, over to the Elbe line, then back down to their starting point in the Sudetenland. Each vehicle would have a maintenance crew with them and the maintenance team would take note of all breakdowns and malfunctions that occurred during the test. Everyone at the Panzerkommission knew how important it was to get everything right. After all, when the Army crossed the Elbe, there wouldn't be a range officer to save their lives.

Reichstag
Bonn
German Reich
23 February 1936

Hitler stood at the podium in the center of the Reichstag and shuffled the papers in front of him. "Ladies and Gentlemen, People of the World. Last month, the United Kingdom of Denmark and Sweden declared war on the Soviet Union. This is an action that is not supported by the German Reich nor by any member of the European Alliance. It is the hope of the German Reich that this conflict can be brought to a swift end with minimal loss of life and economic destruction and that both Denmark-Sweden and the Soviet Union are able to reach an agreement that will ensure peace in the Nordic Regions for many years to come." He shuffled the papers again. "I have a few other things that I want to discuss, now that Denmark-Sweden is out of the way. First, to the Nation at Large, the Reichstag has voted and passed a law that will impose economic sanctions on Denmark-Sweden until they agree to cease hostilities with the USSR. The Reichstag has also passed a law that will allow German companies to open factories and facilities in the Republic of China. Finally, the Reichstag has passed a law that will reorganize a large number of Infantry Divisions into Panzer and Panzergrenadier Divisions. Now, I will personally introduce a new bill to the floor for consideration." He lifted a collection of papers and said, "This bill will, if passed, allocate funds for the procurement of military equipment to be sent to the Republic of China as a gift, in exchange for a Chinese promise to purchase more such equipment from German manufacturers. It will also allocate funds for the transport of military attaches to the Chinese Army, Navy, and Air Force to train their personnel to make best use of their new equipment."

Outside Nanjing

The new construction projects were progressing quicker than expected. Hundreds of workers busily scrambling to construct new arms factories. The undustrial center outside Nanjing was currently able to produce around 20 artillery pieces, 20 anti tank guns and 2,000 model 1935 rifles a day. Most of these guns were being sent to training camps where the new recruits were being given their weapons. Aith these new factories, the output would be doubled without even considering other industrial centres. As of now, China’s army was expanding by at least 1,000 members a day.

In Shanghai, the Chinese board of naval defense was coordinating the naval forts that were being constructed in case of any naval invasions. These works were meant to employ the populace to satisfy them with the government and to strengthen their defenses against the Japanese navy. The only problem was that they weren’t capable of making large naval guns to use.

In a rural village in the Western mountains, the anti-communist police were carefully checking all of the villagers for communist leanings. New reforms had given them more power over the border regions near communist nations. The CCP wasn’t going to just waltz into China without a damn big fight.

Finally, in the capital, a few telegrams were sent to Sarawak, Japan and America.

Sarawak

Most serene Kingdom of Sarawak,

We understand that you are a small nation that is currently under the control of the British Empire. Regardless, we cordially invite you to a small conference in Nanjing to discuss the Future of East Asia. We have also sent an invitation to Tibet to see if they wish to participate. If you do not wish to parto ipate, We shall not stop you.

Japan
Most kind emperor,

The Republic of China just wanted you to know that at the moment, we approve of the invasion currently occurring to the North of our borders. We just request that you respect our sovereignty.

America

Mr President,

We understand that the neutrality act prevents you from supporting nations at war. However, is it possible that you could sell us older rifles so that we could equip our army? We would be willing to also offer land for some companies in China.

Leningrad, Russian SFSR
General Staff Building

With the threat of a possible Western intervention, Moscow sent the General Staff of the Red Army, Marshal Alexander Yegorov to Leningrad, to oversee the operations of the war. Marshal Yegorov approached the war room and is greeted by General Shaposhnikov. "Comrade Shaposhnikov, what is the current status of our operations.", inquired the Marshal as he walked towards the table, with the map detailing several Soviet formations.

"The 9th and 14th Armies have stopped the advance of the enemy, they have reported that the enemy seemed disorganized and used very unorthodox tactics. We also have the 7th and 8th Armies on their way to reinforce their position, and to prepare for a counteroffensive.", said General Shaposhinikov, as he is handed a report by his aide-de-camp.

"Hmm...what is the status of the air force?"

General Shaposhnikov looks at the report, "They are encountering very minimal resistance, only encountering biplanes for the most part. As for our bombers, we have bombers to our airbases in Finland and Estonia, and are set to begin initial bombing raids into Sweden."

Marshal Yegorov then glanced towards the Baltic Sea. "What is the immediate status of our navy then?"

Admiral Lev Galler, commander of the Red-Banner Baltic Fleet glanced at the Marshal. "According to our reports, we have continued patrolling our territorial waters and the Baltic Sea, and have not encountered any enemy ships as of yet. We have received reports from the North Sea Fleet, that their submarines they have begun raiding Danish-Swedish shipping."

Shaposhnikov then approached the generals, "Sir, we've received a telegraph from Moscow, they are forming the 1st Shock Army led by General Zhukov, under the recommendation of Marshal Tukhachevsky, and also authorized the use of the 3rd and 13th Airborne Brigades to support the counteroffensive."

"Very well, have our armies prepare for this counteroffensive, once the 1st Shock Army arrive we will start the operation. Also, have those airborne brigades moved to Helsinki immediately.", ordered Marshal Yegorov

P1 Pravda, Pravda-class Submarine

In a snap patrol of the Baltic Sea, P1 was sent to sink any Danish-Swedish ships they encounter. "Captain, I see ships in the distance, looks like an entire task force.", exclaims the signalman as he looked through the periscope.

The captain walks towards the signalman, "Can you identify who's ships are those?"

The signalman focused closer on whether he could identify the ships. "They are definitely Danish-Swedish."

"ALL MEN, BATTLE STATIONS.", exclaimed the captain as he takes a look through the periscope.

The submarine orientated towards the Danish-Swedish taskforce, "Contact Leningrad immediately, detail them our immediate position.", ordered the captain, to the operator of the submarine's telegraph machine.

"Captain, the bow torpedo tubes are ready.", says the quartermaster.

"Very well, prepare to fire at these bearings.", says the captain, as he aimed the periscope at the destroyer and cruiser escorts.

Once the bearings were set for the torpedos, targeting three destroyers and one cruiser, "Fire all tubes." ordered the captain.

After several minutes, black smoke and panicking Danish-Swedish ships can be seen in the distance. "Captain, the torpedo tubes are reloaded."

The first mate approached the captain, "Sir, we have received a telegraph from Leningrad, the air force have sent a large bomber wing to deal with the enemy task force."

"Good, set the torpedos to these bearings.", ordered the captain, as bearings are set, targeting another cruiser and three destroyers.

"Fire all tubes."

Explosions are seen in the distance. "Dive immediately, and set a course home. Our aircraft will deal with them.", ordered the captain.

Kingdom of Denmark-Sweden
Strömstad
February 24th,1936

Hakkon VII stepped out of the elongated limousine to be lifted by his feet up a flight of steps, with several military generals saluting per step as he made his way into the government building. Now, being the capital, he had a longing for the old vikings, and so decided to transform the former brick and marble building into an elongated viking warrior home, complete with indoor pluming ( the first building within the city to have such a revolutionary device) and heating. (The second building after a library to have that wonderful technology.) Soon feeling the warmness of several heated coils and large fans that blew the warm air throughout the building, Hakkon VII disappeared down a hallway and made his way into one of the conference rooms that had been established, taking a seat and looking at the cabinet officials that were punctually late for the meeting.

"Welcome to this meeting of the Dano-Swedish Cabinet, whose job is to offer 'bad advice and ways to get the good shit from your friendly neighborhood drug dealer' according to the constitution I snorted cocaine with. Now I want to be informed of the food production levels that are estimated to occur."
With a curt nod, Minister of Starvation Harland Sanders stood up from the seat.
"Now, being a polite southern gentlemen as I am, the food's fucked. This years production is around 30% of last years production, forcing the rationing to be from a single 9 ounce thing of cornbread to be reduced again to a 6 ounce box of cornbread. Also included will be restrictions on actual crops, such as vegetables and fruit, which shall be curtailed to a single plant of green beans to be purchased by the local growers. In terms of canned goods, the recent switching of military production ordered a few months back has forced the sale of canned baked beans, yams, spiced Ham, candy canes and roast beef to be limited to two cans of either within a week's shopping experience. Rationing cards will be handed out for all citizens with daily calorie requirements of the following: 900 for factory workers, 1,400 for training personnel, 1,000 for reserve personnel and 1,800 for active duty military personnel. Government administrators, bureaucrats and hobos are exempt from the rationing restrictions, and classifications of such groups will be more tightly monitored in the future."

"I see... Now that we know we're starving, I want to hear from Robby about the military production side of it."
"Well, the tanks you ordered have begun to get produced, though it will take some time before the first units are actually fit for combat. We could hasten this process by throwing in manuals for the tanks, a single driving instructor and some civilians inside to crew them."
"I want that initiated immediately, I don't care if our tanks can fight very well, just that they can fight now, these soviets are quite terrifying. Now, Minister of War, I want old people to serve in the armed forces, I believe we have a handful of ancient relics and war veterans from the last great conflict we fought in?"
"We have some old museum curators-"
"press them into service at once, along with the weapons in the museums!"
"Sir, I was going to say that we haven't fought an actual war in a long time, and that while the elderly do own more firearms, they also suffer from dementia, paranoia and arthritis."

"Then send them off with cocaine to the front, I want our morale to be high as our troops will be!"
"Yes sir, I shall order cocaine and razor blades to be shipped for each soldier as a gift."
"Fan fucking tastic, now then, we are to discuss the proper storage of suspicious briefcases that are a few chairs down from me that may or may not contain explosives to ki-"
Like a comedicaly timed joke, Hakkon VII's person was tossed across the room as an explosion and smoke ripped through the hut, slamming his self into the wall nearby as several generals were impacted by the explosion depending on proximity to the device.

Local Radio Station KBBL-62.305, Stockholm Jazz and National Propaganda inc, LLC. *patent pending*
General Maus von Ikea Thoringer's face curled into an evil smile as he barged into one of the local radio stations, shocking the announcer who had been doing shots of whiskey by the bottle singing sweet home Alabama all summer long.
"Who the fucks is yous?" the announcer would slur in between hot burps and gassy farts, you know, kid humor. Thoringer would reveal a trusty WWI era Luger pistol that he had gotten from a state visit to the German Riech a few years back, the 8mm round sliding back into the breech as it clicked readiness.
"Listen very closely and you will not die now, I want to broadcast my voice all over the nation."
"Oh ta hell wit me life, I dos its."
With a snap of his fingers, the drunken announcer hit a switch, warming the room in an "ON AIR" sign as Thoringer entered the announcement box.
Clearing his throat, he began his small speech.
Image
"People of Norway, I am Maus von Ikea Thoringer and I have solemn news on this day. Our beloved King was assassinated by a Jewish plot to Christianize the state! Do not weep for too long, as I have been sobbing before hand at his peaceful passing away in his sleep. The royal family, in their stress and anguish, asked me to take personal leadership of the nation, and I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Emperor and a declaration by the Royal Family has been signed designating me as acting Emperor until elections can be held.

My first official acts will be to order all soldiers to surrender and for this government to begin entering immediate peace talks with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. I fullheartedly apologize for the bullish aggression that the predecessor King has caused on our relationship between Denmark-Sweden and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. No Blood will be spilled today, and I expect a new era in Soviet-Dano-Swedish relations to flourish with this announcement. Peace will be declared once more!

To our brave soldiers fighting a politicians war, throw down your weapons and rise up in revolution for the red banner! These radical militants within the government wished to spark a war under the assumption that our allies would smash the soviets! Our allies have stabbed us in the back! We cannot rely on such traitorous foes in our misguided crusade against the reds. Perhaps, the german Reich and the soviets were right in denouncing us, perhaps, but I do declare a new begining for everyone invo-what the fuck do you mean he survived?! The King's still alive?! Hunt his ass down later on, I have the common people to fuck over and make me president!"

Meeting Room
King Hakkon VII breathed heavily as he limped up, with the assistance of several aides that rushed to his assistance, repeatedly worried over the health of his majesty.
"I'm... I'm fine right now.. Just a bit out of breath, I haven't had to do that much exercise in being flung like a rag doll since the war of 1812, which I could have sworn I fought in. That might just be my dementia setting in. Oh yeah, it's the dementia. Now get me to the actual radio broadcast center! Do we have any idea who attempted this shit, and get a body count going, I want to figure out who I have to send cards to."
"Sir, you might want to listen to the radio, there's an attempt of a coup."
"What?! Goddammit to fucking hell! I want his ass arrested at once!"
"Yes sir."

With the new assistance of a cane, he hobbled out of the room, shooting a wounded aide in the head with his trusty Colt 1911 sidearm with a bang.
Once he had been escorted outside, several military leaders saluted hurriedly, with a few sweating nervously in the cue of armed dumb asses known as generals. The King of course took notice of this fact, his eyes looming over a handful of members that blinked panickadly.
"Guards, arrest him, him, and him."
With quick salutes, military soldiers grabbed the arms of a couple of generals, throwing them into a truck and driving off, the spurs of the horses neighing as the carriage galloped away from the incident.

Ministry of Propoganda and Misinformation Headquarters, Oslo
The exhausted body of President Karl Gustav Fleischer soon was forbidden to have a moment of rest, as he crashed the limousine through the front desk, getting the local secretary under the car. Leaping out, he had a pleasant conversation with her.
"I have a radio broadcast to make in response to some government coup that's attempting to transpire."
"Ah, do you have an appointment?"
"Yes, I made it under the in case shit goes tits up broadcasting slot between the times of fuck and off."
"Fuck and off... ahah, go right in sir, You're booked for right now."
"Thank you my dear, and apologizes about the limousine, I've never driven a car before."
"Oh, that's just fine, last week, some drunk german did the exact same thing, you kinda get used to being run over. It's actually quite the adrenaline rush to be perfectly honest."

With a quick handshake between the person that ran the lady over and the victim, Fleischer ran up the stairs to the main broadcasting station, where a program of the Howdy Doody Show was executed with his six .45 caliber rounds as the bodies were swept aside as he began his counter speech, reaching more of an audience than the attempted plotter.

"Motherfuckers of Denmark-Sweden,it is with biting confidence that say you have been lied to. Not by the government, not yet anyways, by the way little kids, Santa's fake news. Now that the children are crying, turn up your stations to hear this news and to drown out their tears. I have just spoken with King Hakkon VII on the phone, and can confirm that he is still alive. The people of this country have been lied to by anti semetic left wing forces and revolutionaries that seek to upset the social order of the state!

They seem like anarchists, attempting this underhanded and misguided attempt on His Elected Majesty's life! I have no doubt in my mind that the Moscow goons have fully supported and funded this moment of anarchy within the state, and seek to take full advantage of it with a general offensive against us! Do not let this happen, brave souls at the front! You will fight to the death, and I expect 5 soviets to fall before 1 of you dies in battle! or vice versa, our troops are rather shit at fighting to be honest.

Anyways, Just to recap, the King is still alive! I am still alive! Only a few cabinet members were killed in the attempt on his life! Do not listen to the fake news of propaganda that the soviets and the usurpers claim is the truth. Long Live the Kingdom! Long Live his elected Majesty! May Allah have mercy on the enemy's souls! Oh, by the way, Hakkon VII says he likes Islam for some reason. I think it's a jihadi phase he's going through, or a mid life pilgrimage to mecca. Hell if I know for sure."

Baltic Sea
Admiral Wilhelmina Packard's fingers shook from her arthritis as she took another long drag on her precious tobacco product. Blowing out yet another cloud of smoke that lowered the life expectancy of your average swede while also increasing their IQ by a decimal point, she took in a deep breath as the fleet continued to sail on. The relative calm of the naval waters soon became a shattered memory as columns of water shot up into the air, breaking the eerie quiet with the shrill sounds of alarms being set off and shock waves from the explosions combining together among the panicked screams of crew members. She gripped the railing tightly as her head spun around to take notice at fires spreading on a pair of destroyers and one of the light cruisers, with those ships begining to slow down out of formation.

"What the fucking fuck is fucking going the fuck on?!"
"M'am, we're under attack!"
"No shit Sherlock, by who?! The Germans?! Do you think those goddamn Russia people know what the fucking fuck a goddamn submarine is?! If so, then I want the destroyers to peel off and depth charge the motherfuckers!"
"Yes M'am ,immediately!"

With the taste of coffee on one of the officer's lips, he ran from the lunch room upon the first column of water and grabbed two flags, waving them around for the fleet's supposed sub killers to acknowledge, which was delayed, but came in nonetheless. As that was said, the destroyer in front of the one that got the order shuddered, being lifted out of the water from the force of the explosion and settling back down, now listing to one side and slowing down from normal battle speed, which was noticed as it got further and further away from the fleet. After a handful of minutes, a bugle was sounded and men leaped into the seas, with a handful of the piano players drowning from not knowing how to swim or tying their heavy grand pianos to them in an attempt to float, failing to pay attention in first grade science class.

A little bit of good news was that the insane maneuvering preformed by some destroyer captain actually managed to avoid getting hit by a pair of torpedoes aimed at it... only for them to slam into a neighboring Coastal Defense Ship, which shuddered from the hit and lit up like a Christmas tree with explosions, tearing the ship apart.

Packard could only watch with muted horror as one of her prized vessels, the ship named Eisdvold, was sent to the bottom of the sea within a short period of time. Visibly shaking not for her arthritis but in fear, her mind froze for a handful of seconds as she attempted to process what the fuck was happening.
"M'am?"
"M'am?"
"M'AM!" The snapping of an aide brought her out of the shell shocked state that she had been enveloped in.
"What?"
"Observers have taken notice of enemy planes incoming. In your delay I have ordered the Anti Aircraft weaponry prepared to fire. Further Orders M'am?"
"All ships come about 180 degrees. We are to reverse course immediately back home. We have failed in our mission. Oh, and get those AA guns to let loose once they are in range, and contact home for fighter support, perhaps a single wave of fighters."
"Yes M'am."

At a nearby Dano-Swedish airbase, a handful of pilots were given an abrupt wake up call as they were barked out to assist allied warships in the Baltic Sea. With several of the pilots either drunk or tired, a handful of planes crashed before take off, some without weaponry and others with only a fraction of fuel, soon finding that fact out as their biplane would plummet from the sky like a graceful rock, killing all on board. Of the 39 fighters and 15 bombers sent as a relief force, only 17 fighters and 8 of the bombers managed to actually clamber into the skies without crashing, soon gunning in towards the enemy planes like a bat out of hell.

The ratatatat sounds of machine gun fire would echo in the ears of the pilots as they dodged and weaved to the best of their brain's 6 hours of sleep abilities all while the machine gunners let spray .303mm and 50 caliber ammunition around, with a handful of shots actually impacting enemy planes and a rare occurrence of watching a soviet fighter slam into the sea to join the large majority of the Dano-Swedish force that began to have it's already small numbers thin and thin more by increasing Soviet fighter aces, akin to a Baltic version of the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot.

"CHARGE!"
AT Calvary mounted gunner Joko Turnip blew a whistle that saw over eighty of his comrades gallop out of the woods towards soviet tanks, their barrels a glow with hot shells that were introduced to the once tight formation of Calvary, obliterating ten of them before a proper battle cry could be shouted.

"Spread Out, make yourself less of a target! Close in with grenades and AT rifles and happy hunting!"
Cheers were heard across those not dead already as Turnip laid the rifle on his shoulder, getting a steady sight of a soviet tankette advancing. He squeezed the trigger and watched the tankette come to an abrupt halt, with a hole being seen in the armor. Smiling, He readied another shot as he took in the battle situation. Soviet machine guns echoed in the distance, then got closer as he was tossed from his mount by a handful of soviet bullets into the trusty steed. Eating a face full of snow, he quickly got up and ducked beneath a pair of rocks, leveling for another shot at a soviet tankette that was advancing.

Squeezing the trigger again, another tankette enjoyed a large hole inside of it, with no more movement or machine gun fire detected from it. With a smile that soon turned to horror as the piles of killed Calvary men soon built up, and more soviet firepower was heard, along with a decreasing number of Dano-Swedish rounds being squeezed off and larger screams of the wounded being heard. He soon became one of those as a soviet AT gun positioned near a hill ended his life prematurely, his last thoughts being of his wife and family, how he would repay them for the nice suit he was going to wear when marrying his brother.

Field Marshal Blomberg laid down the communique from Hitler and looked at the other Chiefs. "Well Gentlemen, it is official. The Reichstag was convinced by the Reichskanzler to approve the occupation of Denmark. Colonel General Beck, gather forces to be ferried to Esbjerg from Brake. Ten Infantry divisions, I think, will be sufficient to occupy Denmark. We shall ship First Panzer Corps with you, of course. Admiral Raeder, put a few destroyers with them to make sure they get there. Marshal Goring, I would appreciate it if the Luftwaffe could ground the Dano-Swedish Air Force ahead of the arrival of the Army. Beck, how long will you need?"
Beck thought for a moment before he answered. "At least three weeks to gather the men. First Panzer Corps is in the Rhineland right now and we will need to call them back, ensure the vehicles are all in working order, et cetera."
"Very well. Goring, you have three weeks to establish air dominance. Admiral Raeder, if at all possible I would also like the Dano-Swedish Navy to no longer have a presence in the area." Raeder nodded while Goring looked uncomfortable. "Marshal Goring, if you have something to say, speak up."
"Um...uh...I...it's nothing."
"Fucking hell, man. If it's nothing then don't sit there looking like I shot your fucking dog. Something is bothering you so speak the hell up."
"Well, it's just that, I mean, I'm not sure the pilots are ready for this. None of them have seen combat before."
"God damn it, Goring. With an attitude like that, they never would. There is a first time for everything and the Dano-Swedes are losing to the fucking Finns. I think your pilots will do fine." Goring sank back into his shell as Blomberg finished briefing the Generals on their requirements.

Dominik Bach watched as his Panzer IV was lifted onto the massive cargo ship for transport to Denmark. Fucking Denmark. He shook his head. Until two months ago, he'd thought Denmark-Sweden was an ally. A rather deranged ally, but an ally. And now he was going to be part of the force INVADING Denmark. How strange was this year going to get?
The buzz of airplane engines overhead woke him from his day dream and looked up to see hundreds of Luftwaffe planes overhead. Bf-109 fighters, He-111, Do-17, and Ju-88 bombers raced for Denmark, continuing the campaign of bombing that had been going on for two weeks now. He had no idea how it was going but he couldn't help but think it was going well. It was only Denmark-Sweden, after all. A starving, brutally insane country for whom a German occupation would be a massive improvement. He didn't even know why they were sending tanks. It wasn't like they had anything the infantry couldn't handle. Or maybe they did.
"So, how far is Esbjerg from Copenhagen?" asked Stefan, in quite a giddy voice. "I'm not sure, Panzersoldat. I guess we find out when we get there." Now it was Jorg's turn to speak up. "Aw come on, Feldwebel. Do you at least know if the girls are pretty?" Bach smiled and said, "I think they are. But not nearly as pretty as the girls in Paris. Those French broads will BRING the man out of you, boy!" Stefan laughed and said, "You want an experience, you have to go to Amsterdam. Those girls have TALENT!" The other two members of the crew, loader Lucas Schwab and gunner Uwe Holzmann sat over their chess board, ignoring the three raucous members of the crew until Stefan walked over to them. "I tell you one thing, lads, Uwe here NEEDS to experience the girls while we are there," Stefan said, clapping Uwe on the shoulder as he did so. The young man blushed a deep, cherry red and Schwab quickly came to his defense. "Leave him be, Stefan. If you want to damn your soul, that is your business but do not bring the innocent down with you!"
"Jesus Christ, Priest, relax. It ain't a sin to know a woman. It's practically a commandant, isn't it? What was it? "Be Fruitful and Multiply", I think?" Schwab pointed to the ring on Holzmann's finger and said, "Adultery is a sin, however." Schwab then turned his attention to Holzmann. "Don't let Stefan lead you astray, young man. You are a Child of God and God will never lead you wrong." Bach laughed and said, "Schwab, you believe that all you want. I fought in the Civil War and I learned one thing about God. He doesn't give a shit about you," he jabbed a finger at Schwab, "Or you," he jabbed his finger at Holzmann. "All God gives a damn about is the dead. While you are living, he doesn't care. So go out. Drink, gamble, and whore. Life isn't worth living if you let a fucking book dictate your life." Schwab lept to his feet. "HOW DARE YOU BLASPHEME IN SUCH A MANNER! YOU THINK THAT BECAUSE YOU HAVE A FEW EXTRA BITS OF TINSEL ON YOUR FUCKING ARMS THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO DENY THE ALMIGHTY? I WILL PRAY FOR YOUR SOUL!" Schwab stormed off towards the tents that housed their battalion while Bach looked over at Stefan. Stefan grinned widely before the two men roared with laughter.

Oval Office, Washington D.C.
March, 1936

The sound of the solid door to the office closing echoed through the room, cutting an erie silence through the regal room only broken by the sound of a wheelchair going across the floor and an aides shoes. President Curtis gave a nod and a smile at Franklin Roosevelt as he was wheeled from the door to the center of the room where several members of the Cabinet were assembled on couches and chairs. The aide helped move the Vice President onto a couch next to several Cabinet members, and then left the room. Roosevelt nodded to the President, taking a binder out from under his arm and placing it on the table in front of him.

"Apologies, the Campaign has been keeping me occupied. Carry on" Franklin said. It had only been a few months since he had announced his intentions to run for President, supported by Curtis who didn't want to serve a third term. He hadn't receive the official nomination yet, but it was expected that he'd receive it; he was the architect of the New Deal, and a relative of Roosevelt.

"No worries Franklin, we've only just gotten started. I believe we were going to begin with a briefing from Henry and Daniel?" The President said, motioning with his hand to the Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary for Commerce. Secretary Morgenthau was the first to speak, "We've been seeing an increase in our defecit from spending on the recent programs, mostly from the PWA, WPA, CCA, and the NRA. We're hoping to see a reducting in spending starting in 1937-1938 to help balance our budget more."

The President nodded along, generally agreeing. He was onboard with Roosevelts New Deal, but was still more conservative and cautious then the rising Roosevelt. Franklin, for his part, did heed the words of the Secretary and took his opinion seriously, but still considered that more government spending rather than less will fix the economy. "The spending has reaped benefits though, Mister President" said Secretary of Commerce Roper, shifting attention to him. "We've seen an overall recovery in the economy. The Banks are back in operation, factories are reopening and businesses are taking the shutters off their windows. We've seen a 45% increase in manufacturing output and production since 1934, and it shows. I believe that the New Deal is working, and that our economy will recover by the end of the Decade." The Secretary said confidently, earning an approving nod from Roosevelt.

"That may be, but our unemployeement still refuses to lower. Its been hovering at 14% for the past year, and refuses to reduce. While, of course, this is an immense reduction from when this administration began, it still remains that millions of Americans are out of work. The Work Programs from the CCA, PWA, and WPA are helping but their not long terms and there just simply aren't enough Federal jobs to go around. The passage of the Social Security act is tantamount to our efforts moving forward, as it will provide aid for millions of Americans unable to work for themselves. This administration has made great strides, but we're still long away from our goal of full recover." said Secretary of Labor Frances C. Perkins, a personal choice of Franklin Roosevelt after having seen her work on the Triangle Factory Committe in New York.

"Yes, unemployeement is something the Reds throw at us. Americans support the Progressive party, but so many workers know nothing but the fact that they don't have a job and turn to the Socialists and Communists for a solution. It's why theres a dozen Socialist seats in the House, and if we don't do something that number will grow, mark my works Mister President!" said Attorney General Cummings, who'd worked to strengthen the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He had a personal hatred for Socialists and Communists, and had worked with FBI Director Hoover to oversee prosecution and raids on known Socialist and Communist groups. Half of the Socialists in the house of Representatives had receive a visit from the FBI on orders from Cummings, which earned him a mean reputation with the left and a solid one with the Anti-Communism Progressives and the Democrats.

The Attorney Generals comments earned from silence from some members and nods of agreement from some. Both the President and Vice President seriously considered the possibility of war with the Soviet Union, as it was a common belief that Trotsky and his band were supplying and helping Socialist movements in the US, and that the USSR's policy of spreading communist governments posed a threat to the US. However, many of the Progressives considered themselves Social Democrats or generally left leaning, not to mention many had seen the destruction of the Great War and there was very little support at this time outside of the Democratic Party for war with anyone, let alone the Soviets. This split could be seen in the cabinet.

A cough would draw attention to a man in a dressed black suit and white shirt, a binder laying on his lap with his legs crossed. "I'm afraid there are certain Foreign concerns. It seems that the Kingdom of Denmark-Sweden has declared war on the Soviets. There is already fighting in Finland, and the country Generally is unstable. We've had tens of thousands of refugees pouring into the country, but most importantly is what this means for Europe. The balance of power over there is delicate, and theres no knowing what this could mean. We may very well see the beginning of another Great War..." Secretary of State Cordell Hull stated calmly. They had all heard the news from the TV, but the implications of the war rested heavy with them all.

"Surely the powers of Europe wouldn't develop into a war over Sweden?" said the Attorney General.

"The Great War started with an invasion of Serbia..." said Vice President Roosevelt, his eyes fixed on a point far away as he thought.

"This is why we must expand the army! With this development, war could come at any time! If another Great War were to happen, then it would only be a matter time until we were dragged in. We must be ready, or present a strong appereance to deter invasion!" Said Secretary of War Henry Stimson. "Allow me to call up the Organized Reserve, Mister President."

"Surely such an action would provoke the Soviets or maybe even the British into thinking we are planning an invasion or intervention! We cannot drag ourselves into a war in the name of preventing one!" objected Henry Ickles, Secretary for the Interior. President Curtis held up his hand, a sign to stop the arguing. "Deployement of the Reserve is a serious matter which I will consider later. As for our defense, I think that can best be assured by our Navy. Secretary Swanson?" The President said.

Said Secretary of the Navy, Claude Swanson, cleared his throat and spoke. "Our plans for expanding the navy are coming along nicely Mister President. The Yorktown Class of Fleet Carriers, in construction since the early 30's, are scheduled to be completed this year, with the USS Yorktown to be completed and commissioned this month. This year we're planning to commission two new Battleships of the North Carolina class, seven Cruisers of the Brooklyn Class and Eight destroyers of the Bagely Class. We've also plans to launch several destroyers of the Sims and Benham classes by 1938. We're working on developing a new class of heavy crusier and fleet carrier to hopefully be launched by 1940. Otherwise the Navy remains at a good strength to defend out shores." Swanson rattled off, peaking at the folder in his hand every once in a while for numbers. His report seemed to satisfy the President greatly.

"Thank you Gentlemen, I believe that we can adjurn this meeting. Its almost lunch, and I am indeed starved!" The President said, chuckling. The members of his cabinet picked up their files and moved out of the Oval office, each offering a smile and goodbye to the President. All had left but FDR, who was still seated on the coach, looking at the President. "This whole situation in Europe is worrying, but I don't know about activating the Reserve. The Democrats will lampoon us as Warmongers." Curtis said.

"Let them, they called us Communists during the election and now look! We've got the majority in the House and Senate, and the Executive. The people are on our side, and this is what we need to do. War in Europe is inevitable, and we need to prepare for it. Activating the Reserve will allow us to prepare, and imagine the boost to the economy which will come from all the war materials needed. It might just be the ticket to reducing unemployement.." Roosevelt said, leaning on the side of the couch as he implored the President. Curtis for his part, mearly grunted as he looked off into the distance. "I'll have to think about it..."

Roosevelt nodded, expecting nothing less. Charles was cautious, a reformer and supporter of the New Deal he was but he was also an Isolationist like many in the government, and didn't want to upset the majority they had by giving the Democrats any fodder. As the two sat in silence, Roosevelt suddenly remembered something from earlier in the day. He pointed at the Presidents desk, "Have you read the letter from the Chinese President?" he said, surprising the President who now looked to said letter. "No I haven't, been preoccupied with the war in Europe. I'm assuming you've been briefed on it by Hull?" Curtis said as he picked up the letter and brought it up to this eyes to read it.

"The Chinese want materials, small arms and such. Might be a good way to make a profit for the government, we've plenty of rifles from the Great War still in inventory. Pershing had them keep everything from that war, didn't throw anything away. I'm sure the Chinese could do well with them, for a price." Roosevelt said, proding the President.

"Selling arms to a foreign nation? Now THAT is something the Democrats will use against us. Might even be illegal..." Charles said, putting the letter down. Roosevelt shrugged at the Presidents cautiousness, "Not illegal, China isn't at war with anyone, they've won their civil war, so it doesn't break the Neutrality Act. Plus, we can paint it as getting rid of old Federal assets to improve and balance the budget, might even win us some more respect." The Vice President said, spinning this as well as he could. Charles Curtis knew what Roosevelt was doing, but still found merit in his arguemet. "Alright, tell Hull to send a letter to the Chinese Ambassador, make it a decent fee too, no free hand outs." He said, putting the letter away in a drawer.

A bell rung and the doors to the oval office opened and a handful of men in white uniforms came in, holding silver platers and trays. It wasn't often that Curtis took lunch in the office, but today was a busy day. The two men looked on eagerly as a brown skinned servant placed a tray of ham, cheese and cucumber sandwhiches on the desk.

Trumpets blared L'Internationale as the flag of the Soviet Union and the Xinjiang SSR was lowered, and the flag of the revived Chinese Soviet Republic was raised over the newly renamed People's Square of Dihua. The flag of the Xinjiang SSR was then carefully folded up by a Soviet Honor Guard and placed into a small box which would be retired to be displayed at the Xinjiang Revolutionary Museum. The Soviet Honor Guard then solemnly saluted as the Chinese Red Army Honor Guard took its place in the square.

A tight column of cadets from the newly reformed China Red Army College marched with Soviet rifles in proud display. The cadet at the very front carried a square piece of red cloth. When the column reached the central flagpole, the lead cadet unfurled his cloth with a flourish, revealing a red flag, the banner of the Chinese Soviet Republic. Again, the trumpets blared, and the audience of revolutionaries clapped as the symbol of the Communist state now hung proudly once more.

Immediately after the transfer of power was certified, things began to rapidly move all around Xinjiang. The Chinese Red Army assumed control of the bases and checkpoints once manned by the Xinjiang warlord army, and a flurry of orders integrated local forces into the Red Army. Under the orders granted by Trotsky himself, Red Army commanders moved quickly to seize and replace all institutions of state once operated by Xinjiang.

They had full permission to seize administrative control, but no room for possible dissent could be allowed. There was no telling if the Xinjiang SSR, which was essentially a converted warlord state, might still hold local loyalties over their new national duties. Yet by the end of the day, control was transferred without a single shot fired. All that was left was to ensure the loyalty of its former leadership in joining the national revolutionary cause.

Sheng Shicai, the warlord general of Xinjiang, a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, wondered if he had played his cards right or wrong. He was anxiously awaiting a meeting with Chairman Mao, but he was unsure of the treatment that would be lurking behind the wooden doors of his own office. Shortly after he had woken up that morning, he had received the telegram notice informing him that Xinjiang, his own provincial holding, would be handed over to the Chinese Communist Party. His own loyalty to the Soviet Union had seemingly resulted in him losing all power.

He had not the time to even curse his misfortune before Red Army guards had disarmed his own personal bodyguard, and ushered him into a rickshaw headed for his own government center. To his shock, his office was now occupied by Chairman Mao, and his former soldiers were now the ones frisking him before allowing him to enter.

"Comrade Sheng! Good to see you, good to see you! Sit! Sit!" Said Mao with a broad smile on his face.

Sheng Shicai's dazed shock throughout the day was finally replaced with anger. "What in the devil do you think you are doing man! This is my office! How dare you all barge into here and make a mockery of me? What would you have done if I hadn't taken you wretched lot in?" It took a moment before Sheng realized just how dire his own personal situation was. His pride was not an easy thing to swallow, but if he was to be shot, then he had to try and stand firm.

Mao was unfazed and handed over an envelope. "Your contributions to the Party are of great value to us, and that is why I have appointed you as a professor of the Red Army College. Sheng Tongzhi (comrade), your first task is to travel to Moscow for a two-year observational study on the ways by which the Communist Party can establish its own independent navy. "

"You've got to be joking!" said Sheng.

"I'm dead serious, either you return as a loyal party member with valuable new contributions to make, or you can join the next guerilla expedition against Japan," said Mao.

Sheng's choices were few, and it was clear that before he had realized it, he was already sidelined as a political player. He was, in fact, lucky to get away with his life at all. His loyalty to the Soviet Union over the Chinese Communist Party had done him few favors. Swallowing the lump in his throat, Sheng nodded and stepped outside. He would be joining the next caravan to Moscow the very next morning.

"I call this meeting to order! With the Chairman, Mao Zedong, presently occupied in the reorganization of the Soviet Republic, I, General Zhu De, will be tasked with issuing the new strategic objectives of the Red Army."

"As you all know, yesterday, the Japanese devils formally announced the annexation of Manchuria into their empire and began a full-scale assault on the provinces of Shaanxi, Ningxia, and Gansu. In response, the KMT has only bent over backward. We believe they may be directly cooperating with the Japanese," said Zhu.

At this news, concerned murmurs broke out amongst the assembly of generals and commanders. In the back, Zhu De could see a man clutching his fist so hard that his knuckles shined white. If memory served correctly, that man was probably was Shenyang, and lost his whole family during the Japanese invasion.

"I feel the same pain as every one of you, but I promise we won't be skulking out here in the backcountry for long. We are going to be the army that saves China. Right now there are millions of people who are outraged just like us, but they lack the arms and organization to launch a successful revolution, which is why we as the vanguard of the people will need to make contact with these groups and coordinate their war plans with us."

Zhu handed out a series of envelopes with written orders to the commanders of the Red Army. "In our deliberations the previous night, the Chairman has confirmed these strategic orders. Execute them to the best of your ability, and look to your political commissars for guidance should the road grow difficult."

To: Comrade Deng Xiaoping

You are hereby appointed as a vice-chairman of the Central Revolutionary Military Committee. Your task will be to oversee the Leading Small Group in charge of equipment appropriations and military rearmament of the Red Army.

The Soviet Union has approved our grant of 100 million rubles, and the Party wishes to see to it that these funds are used to expand the strength of the Red Army. Soviet military equipment shall be reviewed and adopted, and where possible the Xinjiang Arsenal should begin to produce standardized equipment for our own armed forces. The Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army can not afford to sit idly by while Japan begins a new campaign, so your task must continue even as our forces are engaged in active combat. Maintaining this supply line will doubtlessly be a difficult challenge, but we can only achieve victory with superior organization.

Your second task is equally as important as the first, for you must also coordinate with our benefactors to infiltrate arms and ammunition to guerrilla groups in Manchuria and Central China. We are waging an active people's war, and where ever possible our weapons must reach the hands of our revolutionaries. Coordinate with Moscow to infiltrate via Mongolia and the rural Soviet border if necessary. Where the KMT and the Japanese control the roads, then cut through the countryside.

The revolution's success will in no small part rely on your success comrade.

Signed,

To: General Lin Biao

Your orders are simple comrade, with the Japanese invading the country and the KMT abandoning any pretense of being the defenders of China, I order you to establish the 8th Route Army as a combatant command responsible for managing all CCP guerrilla forces. We have ample supplies of armaments thanks to the aid of the Comintern, but your job is to bring it into the countryside and activate the peasant militias in the provinces of Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, and the Beiping-Tianjin metropolitan area. Concentrate first on the areas which we have immediate reach, and continue to boost the infiltration of our cadres into the more far off regions for activation at a later date.

China shall be filled with news from the People's Daily. Let every town, village, and city in the Middle Kingdom know the facts: that Chiang Kai-shek now betrays the country to the Japanese and the only defender of all Chinese people is the Communist Party. We will denounce all who aid the Japanese and their running dogs as race traitors to the Han people. Let it be known that what comes at us now are the minions of reactionary Imperialists. Until the Revolution can be saved, even the Bourgeoisie may be allowed to join the Peasants and Proletariat army that strives to save China.

Deny the Han traitors comfort and refuge where ever they may be, harass and attack them as they sleep in their homes or as they go to the toilets, and torch your own fields if it means burning the enemy with it. The Communist Party of China asks for nothing less than the full mobilization of our ideology to rally the people. The Nationalists and the world believe that they have won the Civil War already, but I believe that recent events will have handed the momentum back to us.

Prepare these efforts, and have the 8th Route Army coordinate with our conventional formations as the need arises. It may be a long time until we will communicate again. If all else fails, your standing orders are to continue the guerrilla campaign and grow the moment, emphasizing survival over confrontation until the moment arises for a mass uprising.

Signed,

Finally, the last letter was to be sent to General Zhang Xueliang, a warlord whose father once commanded all of Manchuria. Although he was now only one of the big players in the confederation of warlord states, it was believed that he could be convinced to join the cause.

To: Comrade Zhang

I know you have had no love for our cause, but I speak to you now as countryman to countryman. Is there possibly any question remaining as to who the righteous party to guide China is? In China's time of need, Chiang has left you and your army to the Japanese, and our people will suffer for it. I ask you now for only one thing, with no terms or preconditions. Join forces with the Chinese Red Army, and we will do everything in our power to protect this country, and liberate the homeland of your forefathers.

Some of the generals who once opposed us are now an integral part of this revolution. Allow us to combine forces, and we can stop the Japanese in Shaanxi before they can be allowed to enslave more of our people. Protect the Yellow River, protect Shaanxi, and protect all of China. Our troops are already on the march to join the fight, let us join in this new United Front.

Signed,

With a flurry of activities, the orders were sent, and the plan put into motion to save the nation.

The Rise of the Man of Steel...

Moscow, Russian SFSR
Kremlin Senate

It was time, Stalin knew it of course. Bringing together those of the Supreme Soviet, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Where so many years of hatred and planning, albeit undone by the pacing of what he thought of been an elaborate plan to place him above Trotsky. He was untrusting due to Trotsky that Stalin himself hadn't realized the size of those that too saw his ideals and wishes, especially with Trotsky's failure as a General Secretary. He was now within a room of like-minded men, who wished to see to it that the Soviet Union and those already within their influence were strong and prepared for war that coincidentally had came early from the Scandinavians. But that mattered little now, for now Stalin simply had to play the part of a returning warrior to take the reins.

"Comrades, workers, veterans, and those loyal to the calls of change and revolution. You all know why it is that we have been forced to bring forth the Committee, to bring together the most powerful group of men that the world has to see of the revolution we hold so dear. Yet, it is that revolution we had fought for, from both the front lines and those at the table of strategy that is in danger due to the policies and the ignorance of Trotsky! For he is the one and those that support him that we are unprepared for possible war.

He wishes to bring forth a revolution to the world, but with a weak base. How do you bring a revolution when you cannot defend the revolution you already have fought so hard for? It is shown that he neglects our own country for those that have yet to organize into the necessary forces to bring the revolution, so cannot carry out his plans of permanent revolution he so dearly clings to. Instead, we must bring forth the strength of our people of our revolution. So that we may defend it and become stronger, to become the vanguards of the revolution and ensure our nation's ability to destroy any invaders that come into our lands. And the only way we may do this, is by removing those that are leading us to disaster.

And such, I demand that we arrest Trotsky and those who still cling loyalties to him. For they are traitors to the revolution and those being swayed by the bourgeois, leading us down to destruction Trotsky shall do no longer. But to rid ourselves of Trotsky, also means we must bring forth a replacement. With such, we shall while we are at war set forth a troika. Three men who are to lead this nation, those worthy to lead the Revolution. As such, I Stalin take charge as one of the men. In which I deem only two others worthy of this post beside me, men worthy and capable of leading. Kliment Voroshilov and Vyacheslav Molotov, two members of this Committee who shall lead with me! Now! We must go onward to carry it out! Arrest Trotsky and those loyal to him, we must act quickly to ensure our nation's survival!"

But it wasn't over, once the Central Committee was dealt with it was time to reverse the damages of the permanent revolution. The nation still needed time, it needed more time before it could truly be ready to face the threats that were near her borders. A message to the world it was deemed, one that he played the role of a humble and friendly leader.

"Members of the world, members of those nations who are along in their existence with our own. The ideas of Trotsky, are ones of failure and consequence. With such, must be reversed and dismissed. Support for those who won't be able to lead such revolutions across the world? It is impossible, if those that wish to bring change cannot act upon, they cannot expect change to come.

With such, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, her leaders and her people....No longer wish to support those that wish to bring change and refuse to act, the nations of the world no longer need to worry about such people who deem themselves revolutionaries. A sign of goodwill that we wish to show, a sign that the people of the Soviet Union wish to can do without the need of violence. Which, I hope that those across the world in any country may be able to see such things."

It wasn't the end, more work was to be done to ensure that Trotsky's influence will be erased. First, was fixing the situation of agriculture and the industry.

"Ensure the People's Commissariat obtain these, they will be needed."

"At once, I will ensure it." The aide rushed out the door.

To: The People's Commissariat of Agriculture, People's Commissariat for Trade and Industry, People's Commissariat for Labour.

Commissars,

The influence of Trotsky is no longer, we must ensure that the damage Trotsky has inflicted upon our nation is undone. Where our work will never end unless we act now before it is much too late, for which I require your full and devoted support for these plans. We are to engage once more into a five-year plan, but this on the basis of fixing our weakened nation. Farms are to be collectivized and put under state control, roads and industries must expand heavily if we are to succeed against our enemies. Not only that, but I also wish for many new industrial plants to be built east of the Ural mountains. To ensure that the invaders who may come to strike us cannot cripple us, to ensure we survive.

We must act fast and you will carry out this order.

To: People's Commissar of Defense

Commissar,

due to the ever changing predicament in Europe and the need for time to prepare and fully be ready for war, we must be prepared for anything that is to come. In which I am placing you in charge for the creation of the defensive lines that will defend our Union, a forward line of fortifications which shall be known as the Molotov line and a secondary line behind that which shall be known, as which you should understand, the Stalin line. But one must ensure that the German proletariat do not surrender, so we will be placing the start of the defensive line several kilometers west of Danzig.

You are to ensure these lines are built and prepared by the time the invasion starts, or it is you that will be to blame for any failures.

Moscow, Russian SFSR
Trotsky's Residence

Both Natalia and Trotsky were sat in their living room having their afternoon tea. The quiet tranquil nature of the room was suddenly intrupped, the radio had suddenly begun to broadcast. Trotsky turned towards the radio, "Hmm?! Must be another statement of about our ongoing war with the Dano-Swedish."

"Okay dear, I'll just turn it off.", says Natalia as she got up from her seat.

The radio continued to broadcast, "Having trouble dear?", inquired Trotsky.

"Honey, I don't think this is just another broadcast about the war.", exclaimed a bewildered Natalia.

Trotsky stood up and went to the radio, "What else wou-"

Trotsky heard the radio exclaim, "ideas of Trotsky, are ones of failure and consequence."

As Trotsky was about to turn off the radio, then suddenly their apartment door was broken into, with a troop of NKVD officers invading through.

"What is the meaning of this?!", shouted Trotsky, as he shielded Natalia from the officers.

"Under the orders of the General Secretary of the All-Union Communist Party, Joseph Stalin, both of you are under arrest under the charges of treason and anti-Soviet behaviour.", exclaimed the NKVD captain.

As Trotsky was about to try to reason himself out, he is immediately knocked out by a butt of a rifle, only hearing Natalia's screams before passing into unconsciousness.
Leningrad, Russian SFSR
General Staff Building

With the start of the Soviet counteroffensive into the Dano-Swedish territory, Kliment Voroshilov is sent to Leningrad to oversee the start of the operation. Kliment Voroshilov approached Marshal Yegorov."Marshal Voroshilov good for you to grace us with your presence, the counteroffensive has begun smoothly for the most part. We've encountered a few problems though.", said Marshal Yegorov.

"What kind of problems?", inquired Voroshilov.

Marshal Yegorov hands a report to Voroshilov, detailing updates from the front. "For the most part, our troops have been able to pierce through Dano-Swedish defences at their border with the crucial help of the 1st Shock Army, and also the use of our 203mm B-4 howitzers. But it is stated that around 8 BT cavalry tanks and 4 T-35 breakthrough tanks have been easily disabled by enemy AT rifles. It is evident our tanks are substandard to even Dano-Swedish anti-tank rifles, we should invest in developing more heavily armoured tanks.", stressed Yegorov.

"Hmm...I will take note of this. Anything else Marshal?"

Marshal Yegorov is handed another report from the front. "Well, our air force has continued their bombing of strategic targets in Sweden, and our navies have begun to blockade some ports. But more surprisingly, our Finnish comrades seem to be doing very well against the Dano-Swedish."

"Is that so?", inquired Voroshilov.

"According to this report, they innovatively began to uses skis for the troops to get through heavily snowed in areas. Also, it is reported that they have created a successful improvised anti-tank explosive, which they dub as the 'Haakon's cocktail'. Lastly, there have been several reports of a Finnish sniper having around ~150 confirmed kills, they dub as the 'White Death'."

"Interesting, have our logistical officers investigate their use of skis and this 'Haakon's cocktail', they may prove useful."

An NKVD officer approaches Marshal Voroshilov and is handed the telegram. "Sir, you have a telegram from Moscow, it is extremely urgent."

Voroshilov grinned as he read the telegram. "Hmm...It seems the plan is set in motion then."

The Marshal then approached Marshal Yegorov, "I have new orders from Moscow, have any available Sapper Armies begin the construction of static defences in these locations, these are the orders of our new General Secretary, Stalin."

"Stalin? Hmm...Very well, then I guess celebrations for our new General Secretary are in order, Marshal Voroshilov.", said Marshal Yegorov contently.

"It seems so."

Republic of China War Room

Soon after 12:00, the order was given. The Northern army would march into the Northern warlords’ territories until they ran into Japanese troops or the Communist borders. If they met Japanese, they would show that they came in peace and offer some cigars. If they came across the communist border, they would set up machine gun emplacements, artillery and anti tank guns to protect against insurgents. Any suspicious figures crossing those borders would be shot withoit hesitation. Meanwhile, the Western army moved to the existing Xinjiang border to prepare for a defense. They knew that the communists must be spoiling for a fight, so the time to prepare was now. News from the US embassy shocked the Chinese. The equipment offered for sale was easily enough to get the army to almost a million men. Soon, the communists would be purged from China.

To American Ambassador to China

Mr Ambassador,

We would be overjoyed to buy these weapons out of your hands. We assure you that these weapons will be quite handy against the reds. Americans will always be welcome on the Republic of China’s soil.

To the Japanese Ambassador

Mr Ambassador,

We would like to inform you of the Republic of China’s occupation of some of the Slutherb warlord territories. Do not be alarmed. Our men have no orders to attack yours. We understand the need for a stable Northern neighbor. We in fact would like to discuss the prospect of a defensive pact against the communists. In the case of one of our nations being attacked, the other will come to their defense. We would like to invite you to Shanghai to discuss said treaty if you would like to be a part of it.

Central Denmark
Denmark-Sweden
30 March 1936

Generalmajor Erwin Rommel, Commander of First Panzer Corps, looked at map that showed the area known as Midtjylland and frowned. So far, the Dano-Swedish forces hadn't been very impressive. A few scattered groups of men with limited arms and ammunition, horsemen with Anti-Tank rifles. He'd lost thirty of the 1,044 tanks he'd started with over the last seven days and most of those were as a result of accidents when they were being offloaded. Five had thrown their tracks during the march and two had been disabled Dano-Swedish suicide bombers. Only three had actually been killed by the anti-tank rifle cavalry, though at the cost of an estimated five hundred cavalrymen. Personally, Rommel was alright with that trade, especially since only the suicide bombers had actually killed anyone, killing all 10 men in the two tanks they hit. 5 tanks and 10 men dead in exchange for around 500 to 2,000 enemy troops killed was an entirely acceptable rate of exchange to him.
"ALARM!" Rommel's head shot up as the alert bell started ringing. He ran over to his command tank and climbed onto it. "Report!" he shouted to the soldier sitting in the hatch. The young man raised his binoculars and replied, "Dano-Swedish forces approaching, appears to be old men and women. Varied armaments. Rifles, pistols, grenade vests, a few shotguns." Rommel shook his head then grabbed the radio. "ACHTUNG! WEAPONS FREE! REPEL THE ATTACKERS!" Machine guns chattered and rifles cracked. Rommel reached into the command tank and grabbed a MP-40 machine pistol. He extended the stock and lifted it to his shoulder, taking slow, disciplined single shots, only using more than one if the target didn't drop the first time.

The guns chattered for hours, machine guns being joined by howitzers, tank guns, and Luftwaffe fighters and bombers. The field was littered with Dano-Swedish corpses and yet despite the casualties the bastards kept coming. Rommel dropped the stick magazine out of his SMG and was loading another one into it when a freight train slammed into his arm. He spun to the side and fell, his head smacking onto the metal tool box before he rolled off the tank and slammed to the earth. His vision starred and blurred, the voices and gunfire sounding distant. "GENERAL! ACHTUNG! MEDIC! MEDIC!" Several people were standing around him, talking hurriedly with each other. He didn't quite notice as they lifted them onto a stretcher and took him to the ambulance truck.

Republic-Socialist party of Spain

There was celebration by both Republican and Socialist politicians up north in Europe. Drinks and toasts were shared as well as laughter as cigars were smoked, both even with this the people of either political separate, be it individual Republicans or Socialists were never in the same room but rather were rather accompanied with their own fellows.

As their food were served there was a great discussion with all of them in terms of economy, though the stabilization and return of the Spanish economy through projects an idea had come to the minds of some Socialists as the news of the war at Dano-Swedish could bolster their political party.

"The Soviets have been doing a good job taking care of whoever those nonsensical Dano-Sweds are being led by. Not only have they declared war against a large major nation but they barely have the equipment and manpower to do anything!" The whole room burst in laughter at the mere mention of it to the point some even pounded on the long table.

"But seeing as we care not for those bumbling, suicidal fools and the recent news of China needing guns I don't see opportunities being opened to further the Spanish economy nor the influence of Socialism. I am yet too afraid to trade with their Communist counterparts as that may spark blockades and sanctions against us, but though traveling the Pacific Ocean is suicide, I see chance in helping the Soviets by sending volunteers directly at Denmark itself." The party member drank his long glass of beer and prepared his utensils, "As long as the enemy doesn't have any anti-naval weapons our troops shall be fine."

"That is a fine idea." Another member says cutting his steak into two, "And who shall stop us? Send a telegram after lunch, I feel like our troops should learn a thing or two about fighting in the snow or war in general, just in case anyone up North think it would be funny to invade us even if they had to trek through France or invade us in the Mediterranean."

Nods and low whispers in unison were shared throughout and just as it was suggested, after lunch a message was sent to Soviets with the Left-Wing party leaders being told so after on.

To:The Soviet Embassy at Madrid, and People's Commissar of Defense
From:The Republic-Socialist party, Popular Front, International Workers Association.

Greetings.

Many news and events have been happening at the Finnish border, more specifically, at the Dano-Swedish border which have taken massive tolls on their part. To spread the ideology of Socialism all throughout Europe we see this as an opportunity to educate the rest of the world the ideology that has been so thoughtful, so selfless, and thinks much of the people first rather than themselves!

Who could turn down such ideology? But for Socialism to spread the rest of the world must be convinced first, let us conjoin our troops together in the invasion of Denmark-Sweden from both East and West, by land and sea, with blood and steel together all for this selfless crusade against the imbeciles that hold power in there.

Multiple signatures, though meaning nothing to the rest of Left-Wing parties, signed the bottom of the letter as if to say that they were all in agreement beforehand. A declaration of war was being made as well as a speech for Manuel Azaña for the following days and preparation of war against Denmark-Sweden if they're still alive.

For now the military was being arranged, officers loyal to the left wing and leading parties were training in troops on their gun maintenance, shooting, and manufacturing winter clothing for them though the military was hoping they would be supplied before they were prepared. As for the navy they were preparing their landing crafts themselves, battleships, cruisers, and destroyers, everything they had with their submarines being the only exception were being prepared in the docks, being fed fuel as repairs for their long trip.

As this was happening, the military's mountaineer divisions themselves were driving trucks and supplies as part of their training. Armed with machine guns, the El Tigre rifles they had massive stock off, and sub machine guns as well as proper uniforms that battled against the climate and weather of the mountains.

Image
Falange Español

Unloading their crates and more recruits that secretly defected were trained to deal the harsh conditions they were about to face. Others were practicing fieldcraft, mortar support, and more climbing of the nation's mountainous terrain for weeks now with agents being sent to major cities like Madrid, Valencia, and Barcelona both recruiting and planning the disruption of peace against the left-wing parties.

Chaplains were invited to host mass to some of the soldiers but for the most part they were there for morale, both spiritually and mentally while trying to convince them of their cause. Radiowaves traded all across the country as constant updates were being sent and received to different camps with transmissions updating local news and events happening faster than telegram, a written message , or any means used in the past.

"Troops training at Valencia."
"Troops training at Madrid."
"Troops training at Salamanca."
"Ships docking at Viviero."
"Ships docking at Gijón."
"Ships docking at Santander."

And more were communicated by radio though with the region being covered in mountains, took a while to recieve. José Sanjurjo listened to all of these with his arms tucked paralleled under his armpits trying to formulate what exactly is being planned. Though in the military they barely knew just what they were preparing for but with ships involved, it seems like it's a naval invasion or a foreign invasion and there mere thought makes him worried as troop movement was being mapped behind him.

"This is madness," he says to himself, "just what does the government think would be achieved if they're going to invade somebody? The sovereignty of Spain itself is in danger, that and the Communist, the very people they think that support them, are growing more and more of a thorn with each passing day.

"If they even think of supporting them then all hope is lost in trying to protect our borders." The tent flaps were opened and quickly the silhouette of Brigadier General Fransisco Franco came into clear view, walking up to the general he was confused to the tensed and stiff body standing there.

"Sir. What are you thinking exactly?" Taking a step back after tapping his shoulders Franco was then faced by the chief of the customs officers .

"That we must act now, while the rest of the country's military prepares to ride the waves we must prepare the troops everywhere to conspire against now. As we might not have any other chance to strike at the heart of these so called leaders that's been hellbent on trying to get us all killed. "

He looked up into space, staring at it until his head slowly descended on the brigadier general.

"I think it's time. Tell the men to send a letter to the German embassy, to see any officers, much less high ranking officers, enter an embassy would look suspicious.

"No. It's almost time, send a chaplain if you must or any of our soldiers hiding in civilian uniform." Nodding Franco turned towards the radio operators and recited a message over a hideout in Madrid."

West German Embassy, Madrid

It was just an ordinary day, the streets were busy with cars and people as they lived their lives. The embassy itself laid West of Madrid and kept under watch, a popular hotspot for communist propaganda posters being tossed at the other side of the fence with the police having tried to put down said incidents countless of times with increasing Right-wing support and even unofficial military support as well.

Those were not the days, rather a man in a flannel walked towards the doors of the embassy, was greeted by the receptionist and handed her a letter with a smile.

"Give these to your leaders would you kindly?" And left.

In it the letter contained no wax seal but a word that said "El León del Rif."

To:The Reichstag, to Whom it may concern.
From:Falange Español

I fear for Mother Spain and fear my very neighbors, many of whom preach the name of Socialism and Communism.

They do not realize the trouble they're sending us in and the grave they dug is both rough and deep. It seems that once inside you shall never go back to the surface even if it was left uncovered, they buy gravestones and hire gravediggers but have no idea for whom their funeral holds nor what their gravestones read.

Troops and ships have been mobilized on the Northeast of the country, if theories are correct then they may make for Denmark-Sweden to help with the inevitable victory over there but to attack these convoys would be a declaration of war on its own. For whoever reads this, I musk ask you to wait for the opportunity once most of the nation's army has been sent oversees.

This may be the only chance for the rightful to return and for democracy to continue. Please, help us.
