The Intrenational Domestic Hockey Thread

Image

The rules of the sport:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_hockey

The Champions League of Hockey:
[strike]The number of teams that your league has is what determines how many Champions League spaces that your league will get in the first season:

    [/strike]
  • Should your league have no relegation and 11 or less teams then you will get 3 Champions League spaces
  • If your league has at least 12 teams or at least 10 teams in the First Division while having at least 1 relegation spot then your league will recieve 4 Champions league spaces in the first season.
  • Should you scorinate 2 leagues or one league of at least 22 teams then you can have between 4 and 6 Champions League spaces in your first season, whichever one of those numbers it is, is up to you.
UPDATE Now every league gets 4 places in the first Champions League unless they are multi associational, in which they get an extra 2 spaces for every nation involved in the league on the condition that every association sends at least 2 teams to the Champions League. (i.e If a league has 3 associations in it then they recieve 8 Champions League places but each of their associations recieve at least 2 places in the Champions League with 2 more places in the Champions League up for grabs by teams from any association.)

Scorination:
The Champions League will be scorinated using xkoranate though whatever Scorination you use for your domestic league is up to you.

Cutoff Date:
You must have submitted your league before 19:30 GMT on the 9th of February 2019 if you want to be able to participate in the inaugural Champions League of Hockey, at which point I will announce the format of the innaugural Champions League. (I plan on doing 8 groups of 4 though I do not know how many teams will participate so I cannot say the format for certain.)

UPDATE: A new post on the rules has been made.

I think in order for this to be taken seriously you need to put more effort into this thread and list better requirements and scorination also probably scoring your own domestic league to build rapport. Finally I’m not sure if this is even viable as field hockey isn’t really a constant in NS Sports aside from the championships and Olympics.

I'm definitely into it since Field Hockey is the female equivalent to Rugby in Lisander. Yet, I agree with the first half of Velestria words. You must improve the OP and show better work to make more people interested. I suggest you take a look at similar topics, like UICA, RUCT and IUBC.
The Principality of Lisander, a sports loving, very highly developed nation in Astyria.
Disappointing people and missing deadlines since 2013.

1) I plan on making a domestic league.
2) The lack of Field Hockey in NS Sports is the Entire reason why I made this newswire.
3)I'm using xkoranate to scorinate the results, I don't really see the need to make a long opening posts when I can say that you can submit four teams to the Champions League which will be scorinated using xkoranate wih the format of it to be announced as I'm awaiting to see if I'll get 30 or 3 entrants and anything inbetween, which will play a major factor on the Champions League.

Update - Newswire cancelled due to me to me repeatedly being kicked from the NS Sports for literally doing nothing wrong at all, making me sick off the snobs that run this place.

The way you’re handling it is sure to push potential viewers away — stay focused on just sports and not nonfactors. Perhaps check yourself before you move forth.

I don't really want to clog up NS Sports so if I made it that every nation got 4 entrants to the Champions League and the format used for the Champions League is this:
The Champions League
  • 8 teams = 2 groups of 4, top 2 from each group advance to the semi finals
  • 12 teams = 3 groups of 4, top 2 from each group advance to 6 team knockout phase
  • 16 teams = 4 groups of 4, top 2 from each group advance to the quarter finals
  • 20 teams = 4 groups of 5, top 2 from each group advance to the quarter finals
  • 24 teams = 8 groups of 3, top 2 from each group advance to the round of 16
  • 28 teams = all 7 fourth placed teams and 1 third placed team from their league selected by a random draw play in a two legged Playoff round before the same format as used for 24 team Champions League is used
  • 32 teams = 8 groups of 4, winner of each group advances to the round of 16 while second placed hosts third placed in a qualifying round
  • 36 teams = all third and fourth placed teams from their league play in a 1 legged group of 3 (totalling 6 groups) with the top two teams Qualifying for a knockout round of 30 where the 15 winners will qualify for one of 5 groups of 3 teams from which the group winners and the 3 best performing runners up qualify for the quarter finals
  • 40 teams = 3 knockout rounds before the remaining teams play in 1 legged group of 5 where the top 2 advance to the final
  • 44 teams = 2 knockout rounds before the remaining 11 teams are divided into 2 groups of 4 and 1 group of 3 where all of the groups will play 6 games before all of the teams except from the last placed team in each group advance to the quarter finals
  • 48 teams = 1 knockout round before the same format used for a 24 team Champions League is used
  • 52 teams = 4 groups of 13 where all teams play eachother once before the top 2 teams in each group advance to the quarter finals
  • 56 teams = 8 groups of 7 where all teams play eachother once before the top 4 teams in each group advance to the round of 32
  • 60 teams = 10 groups of 6 before the top 4 teams from each group advance to play in 3 back to back knockout rounds after which the 5 remaining teams will play eachother once in a group stage where the top 4 teams after 4 games will advance to the semi finals
  • 64 teams = 6 back to back knockout rounds
  • 68 teams = 17 groups of 4 where the winner of each group and the 15 best performing runners up advance to the round 32
  • 72 teams = 18 groups of 4 where the top 2 advance to two back to back knockout rounds prior to the 9 remaining teams playing eachother once in a group stage where the top 4 teams will qualify for the semi finals

NOTES:
1) If I didn't mention how many legs a match or group played, it's always 2.
2) If 18 or more nations entered then I would expand this list though I feel like it's very unlikely to happen so I haven't added them because I don't feel like it's going to happen.
3) I've ended many entrants with a round before the final because that match and all of the rounds after that are 2 legged knockout rounds.

Scorination
The results of the Champions League will be scorinated on xkoranate by using the Field Hockey sport on xkoranate and the skill of your entrants will be determined by two factors:
  • Where they finished in your league (4th placed teams have around 80% of the skill of the league winners)
  • How detailed your league is - If you submit one league of 10 teams and no Playoffs or context, then your teams will be far worse than someone who submitted 6 leagues of 12 to 14 teams each, a detailed Playoff system and plenty of back story to the league and the teams.

Submitting Teams
If your league has no Playoffs, you may submit either your top four teams in your highest league or your top 3 teams in your first division and the winner of the second division and if you have a playoff in your league then you must send all 4 of your semi finalists.

Cutoff Date

Baranillian Hockey League (BHL)

After the Baranillian Federation of sports came to an agreement that another summer sports league could be set up in the 4 towns that have no Speedway team and the 4 cities that already have a Speedway team, a representative for each of these franchises took part in a vote to see whether a Second National League for Speedway should be established or whether a Field Hockey league should be set up, with the vote ending 7-1 in favour of a Field Hockey League.

8 teams joined the league, 4 of which will qualify for international hockey in the spring while the other 4 teams, will not. The highest ranked of the 8 teams will be awarded the National Shield while the team in last place will receive the Wooden Spoon.

The league will play through the 14 weeks of offseason for the football leagues, the same as what the Speedway league does, with the difference between the two sports being that Speedway holds their races on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons while Baranillian Field Hockey matches will be played on Sunday afternoons.

Bad, I had secured sometime to scorinate Hellebank League this weekend. Anyways. Let's wait for the second edition.

You must have submitted your league before 19:30 GMT on the 18th of February 2019 if you want to be able to participate in the inaugural Champions League of Hockey, at which point I will announce which of the previously mentioned formats I will use to play out the innaugural Champions League.

What happened to the cutoff date? I hoped to enter my teams, I have a field hockey league that's (ICly) pretty well established and popular.

I'd scrapped it since no one other than my 2 nations had entered and I was coming to the end of a season so I didn't want to wait 2 weeks for something that I didn't believe was going to have anymore entrants.

After reading the responses, if both of you (Lisander and Ko-Oren) are willing to submit a league, I'll keep Baranil's Field Hockey League and next time out we could have a Champions league with 12 teams should no other nations enter.

In the club competitions I run (IRLCC - Rugby League and Champions' Bowl - Gridiron), a lot of entries are posted in the last week, or even the final 24 hours. That's normal. That's why it's a deadline, it gives people time until then to post their stuff. It doesn't mean that the deadline can just be moved to two weeks earlier because you get impatient.

When's the next deadline?

Introducing a new rule for the Second Field Hockey Champions League - The Loyalty Rule
The Association of the Hockey Champions League has recently announced the introduction of a new rule in order to encourage nations to submit teams into the Hockey Champions League, with it being known as 'The Loyalty Rule'.

What is it?
The Loyalty Rule is a system built to reward nations for returning to play in the Hockey Champions League, with the format used being stated below:
First Season: 3 places
Second Season: 4 places
Third Season: 5 places
Fourth Season: 6 places
Fifth Season onwards: 7 places

2 important things to not are that if you fail to submit your teams for a Hockey Champions League then you will have your season count reset to zero and that should Lisander and/or Ko-oren choose to participate, they, like Seraxinbourgh and Baranil will have 4 places for the upcoming season as an apology from The Association of the Hockey Champions League for the events of Season 1 whilst any other nation who chooses to enter will receive 3 places into the Hockey Champions League for this season.

Reminder that the cut-off date for the Second Hockey Champions League is the 30th of April 2019.
