As many of you are aware, Twitter recently banned "misgendering" people, i.e. referring to them by sex.

Putting aside the question of whether amputation of male genitals actually turns one into a female, I bring to you something perhaps more critical: while Twitter is privately owned, what they're doing is quite possibly indicative of future state law. That is, making it criminal hate speech to "misgender" someone. The questions here are: is this likely, and do you support it?

My answers are that it is likely to happen in some countries (not the U.S.), possibly even become an EU law.

As to whether I support, I don't. It would be forced ideological redefinition of our words, which is a very bad precedent.

I'm going to point out that this site actually will punish you for purposely misgendering people when you know what their preferred pronouns.

Also, I find it kinda stupid that you think misgendering people is the same as referring to them by sex.
I'd argue that most people don't refer to others by sex, they refer to them based off of gender.

As for Twitter, if a baker can legally but unethically make the poor business decision of refusing to do business with a gay couple, then Twitter can change its Terms of Service to ban those who deliberately misgenders people.

But why do you want to force your speech onto a person you don't like, but you don't want to just avoid talking to them? Those in power or ascending to power can control the use of words, just like how Christianity inverted/distorted the meaning of Good and Bad in comparison to the Greeks. The precedent has already been set, you are a few thousand years too late.
