The year is 2099, Shambhala city is home to 33 million people, descendants from 13 nations, over 30 religions, and at least 100 different ethnicities. The last two generations have been difficult - most communities in Shambhala practice segregation, making cross cultural and religious relationships something of a taboo for many; crime has become rampant in the dark and musty streets of the city, seeming by many as the easiest way to escape the slums with very little chance of being caught; overpopulation is finally beginning to finally catch up with the city, as millions are crowded into unsanitary neighborhoods, food becomes more scarce, and public services become continuously more strained; sectarian hostility makes cooperation a complete nightmare for local government's and police districts; terrorists threaten daily the daily life of thousands, pushing to have the city succumb to their radical and dangerous ideologies. Shambhala City has also accomplished feats of magnificence too though: cybernetic prosthetics have become freely available to the hundreds of thousands of people who might have otherwise died during the harsh years prior to Shambhala, and the turbulent times during it's founding; the city revolutionized self sustainability, learning how to grow food for millions in the massive hydroponic farms below city streets, and using the Ganges river to give power to millions; computer and recycling technology have managed to completely revolutionize industry in the city, allow it to reuse the same material hundreds of times for a variety of purposes before ever having to replace it; though dysfunctional, the city government` has managed to keep the most racially, politically, ethnically, and religiously diverse population since the Mongol Empire under control for over two generations.
As the golden, red, and green skyline of the city continues to grow brighter and brighter with each passing night, the denizens of the rebirthed kingdom begin to look outside their walls once more, to the poisoned world they once left behind. With the last vestiges of the Hoesaeg virus supposedly having dissipated by this point, there is a call by some to go out and retake their lost home. This call to action is placed upon uneasy ground though, as things have become far more complicated in the city than what they once had been. Shambhala isn't just an ark meant for survival anymore, it's becoming something else - the catalyst, the epicenter for a new age, one which it sets. What this age will become will depend upon the the mythic city set in the sky, reborn and renewed in a world destroy and set before them.
Synopsis
Welcome to Shambhala city, reborn and renewed! Located in what had once been Kashmir, we find a technologically advanced, yet economically and culturally divided city housing the survivors of a biological weapon which devastated the world some 60 years ago. Envision for yourself a kind of cyber-punk city, but with a central Asian/Islamic/Indian theme ( I call it Hindu-punk ). You will be playing as one, or more, Shambhalese living in the mega city. You can be anyone, from street thief, to cult leader, to city councilor. This is an uneasy time for the city, as the idea of finally being able to move out and retake the continent has left many questions as to the future. You are welcomed to partake in this time of change!
1. General NS rules
2. You may play as the NPC's, but not extremely important ones, like a city councilor or something of that nature - unless you receive permission from myself of course.
3. You are free to make up the history of Shambhala city within your posts, but you can't change any of the things which have been previously stated.
4. You are free to kill the denizens of Shambhala as you wish ( within reason of course ), but you are not free to kill other players; the caveat to this being if you have asked me or the other player.
5. You are free to somewhat push the barriers of what kind of tech is currently available in game, but you must stay within the general theme of the game.
6. There is no official method of time progression, just keep in mind the actions of other players. I may, on occasion, just start a single mass jump in time to further the story of the game, but I will inform everyone ahead of time about this.
7. Put 101 at the end of your app to show that you have read the rules.
