Ri-ight.. care to give percentages of those ‘otherwise’ against those who don’t get such privilege and those who can afford private school against the number there on charity.
The tiny percentage of those who go on a grant or scholarship are a tiny proportion of the overall population against all the money spent and tax deductions that could go into general education beyond the value given to general education if everyone equally had to attend.

Yeah, generally if you go to boarding school you’re advantaged off the bat in terms of education. Likely you’re healthier, wealthier and less distracted in terms of your education. Then at those schools your options are far greater. I studied Ancient Greek ffs, which I don’t think is available in many state schools.
Then there’s the expectations, generally the minimum expectation is 8 O Levels/GCSEs.. many like me did 10. You are already set up for better results. That’s not so much the school as peer expectation, there’s something wrong with you if you take less than 8.
It’s not to say the facilities and options aren’t better, but the environment is better.. there’s less chance you have disruptive kids in class for example.
And let’s remember these schools have charity status, that is ridiculously unfair.
Yes the schools might be better but they’re also just a vehicle that gives already advantaged children an even greater leg up in life.
Good for them. If you earned your money, you have a right to use it to help your child in such a way.
In fact, isn't it kinda unfair for people to pay taxes for public schools they don't use?

Yeah, when it comes to war we must unite as one nation and the poor are drafted to go fight, when it comes to education I got mine so why should I pay for yours..

How do we know this? Because the first step toward Communism is Socialism, and none of the aforementioned are even remotely Socialist in any way, shape, or form.

I was in high school in the mid 2000's on the tail end of when school food was still utter crap, just an orgy of sugar and trans fats. Many of us would just exclusively eat a big plates of fries for lunch and there were sodas with vending machines, at the time I drank 5 or 6 Dews from the machines every day which is why I got so fat in early adulthood. I think shortly after came Michelle Obama's school food reform campaign. Had I been a student at the time I probably would have been pissed off about it, but in retrospect I see how awful my dietary habits were back then.
