The food is too repetitive and disgusting.

A politician is just another job.
Capitalism, single-payer healthcare, pro-choice, LGBT rights, progressive personal taxation, low corporate tax, pro-business law, welfare for those in need.
Nazism, edgism, dogmatic statements, most of Abrahamic-derived morality (esp. as law), welfare for those not in need.
We are not Albania and I am not Albanian, FFS!

Not sure if left-libertarian, ex-libertarian or without a damn clue.

Ri-ight.. care to give percentages of those ‘otherwise’ against those who don’t get such privilege and those who can afford private school against the number there on charity.

The tiny percentage of those who go on a grant or scholarship are a tiny proportion of the overall population against all the money spent and tax deductions that could go into general education beyond the value given to general education if everyone equally had to attend.

It depends on the school. Most boarding schools don't give enough scholarships and tuition aid and they should improve that.

There's nothing wrong with being a politician.

I can't really disagree with that. You do have a point.

Yup, many high schools that I know of have a policy of letting the turds out and about at lunchtime to get their own meals from places outside the school grounds, whether it be a local cafe, shop, or fast food place.

Yeah, generally if you go to boarding school you’re advantaged off the bat in terms of education. Likely you’re healthier, wealthier and less distracted in terms of your education. Then at those schools your options are far greater. I studied Ancient Greek ffs, which I don’t think is available in many state schools.

Then there’s the expectations, generally the minimum expectation is 8 O Levels/GCSEs.. many like me did 10. You are already set up for better results. That’s not so much the school as peer expectation, there’s something wrong with you if you take less than 8.

It’s not to say the facilities and options aren’t better, but the environment is better.. there’s less chance you have disruptive kids in class for example.

And let’s remember these schools have charity status, that is ridiculously unfair.

Yes the schools might be better but they’re also just a vehicle that gives already advantaged children an even greater leg up in life.

Good for them. If you earned your money, you have a right to use it to help your child in such a way.

In fact, isn't it kinda unfair for people to pay taxes for public schools they don't use?

Yeah, when it comes to war we must unite as one nation and the poor are drafted to go fight, when it comes to education I got mine so why should I pay for yours..

I was just talking about it in terms of what seems more fair.

But I think that people should be able to put their resources into their family.

The Viet Cong were hardly a threat to the USA's existence on the USA's own home turf.

Other schools have you buy recess and lunch there. Not breakfast, supper, and nighttime snack.

Also, I think there are some schools in Alberta that have home ec students help cook the lunch or something like that. Doesn't seem to unreasonable an idea, as long as they're tested for pathogens before being served.

How do we know this? Because the first step toward Communism is Socialism, and none of the aforementioned are even remotely Socialist in any way, shape, or form.

I was in high school in the mid 2000's on the tail end of when school food was still utter crap, just an orgy of sugar and trans fats. Many of us would just exclusively eat a big plates of fries for lunch and there were sodas with vending machines, at the time I drank 5 or 6 Dews from the machines every day which is why I got so fat in early adulthood. I think shortly after came Michelle Obama's school food reform campaign. Had I been a student at the time I probably would have been pissed off about it, but in retrospect I see how awful my dietary habits were back then.

You didn't get fat because your school offered Mountain Dew, you got fat because you drank 5-6 Mountain Dews a day.
