Are white supremacist nations allowed?

Postby Volkmacht » Wed Oct 17, 2018 11:59 pm

First off, I would like to emphasize that I am not a white supremacist, Holocaust denier, Neo Nazi or any other type of person associated with white supremacy. I detest white supremacy in all of it's forms.

That being said, I want to roleplay as such a nation, but before I do anything, I want to make sure if white supremacist RP nations are allowed on this website and how far the country can go before it becomes unacceptable to NS rules, especially when it comes to factbooks and symbolism.

I am well aware of NS rules regarding depiction of the swastika, which is why I want to use this insignia instead

Or this.

Also, in the RP forums, I will not use racial or religious slurs in any way shape of form.

The nation I want to make is basically a white supremacist hellhole. Genocides and slavery of minorities, brutal suppression of civil freedoms, etc.
(UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, IGNORE ALL NS STATS) (I AM POPULI-TERRAE)-It was deleted, now stop asking!

NationStates.net Mods should be ashamed that someone is afraid enough to ask this.

Yes, you are allowed. Loads of non-IC neonazi nations around.

Roleplaying as, I quote, a "white supremacist hellhole" is acceptable within a certain range of acceptability as defined by our rules. I've seen many, many, many made over the years, some better than others, but many within the range of what we tolerate; I've also - both as a Mod and a player - seen several go the way of violating the rules and end-up getting smacked for it. Namely: In-Character does not excuse violating the rules. It's one thing to roleplay something atrocious in a manner that is clearly In-Character; it's another thing entirely to be malicious while trying to use "I'm just roleplaying!" as the thinnest of veneers in an attempt to escape the consequences of one's actions. Keep that in mind.

Beyond this, namely with regard to flags, I will refer you to our site policy on malicious content. We don't ban the swastika, as we don't, by default, ban any mere arrangement of pixels; we ban malicious content. If a flag - regardless of what it is - appears to have been uploaded and appears to be being utilized for malicious purposes (trolling or promoting/advocating violence, as some examples) it will be removed. In the case of the often misinterpreted "Swastika Ban-That-Doesn't-Exist": if you upload a black swastika on a white disc sitting on a red field - in other words, the bog-standard Nazi hakenkreuz flag - there's really no other immediate perception except that one is promoting Nazi policies and ideologies, to include genocide (in other words: promoting/advocating violence). Saying "But I'm not a Nazi! I'm just roleplaying!" doesn't really change that.

As always, these things are, of course, judged on an individual basis.

Considering many sites outright prohibit anything within even a stone's throw of potentially "offensive" or tied even remotely to National Socialism, white supremacism, or white separatism - such as the algiz rune above, which is commonly associated with the US version of the National Alliance - no, not really; it's a fairly standard and legitimate question. A question we've fielded - and will continue to field, no doubt - countless times.

I know I'm certainly not ashamed in the least. I'd rather have someone ask and get pointed by a Moderator to the appropriate policy, than to them just assume something is "OK," post it, get smacked for violating the rules, then decide the best course of action is to yell at us, hoping that will somehow cause us to reverse our decision.

Secondly: I suggest you familiarize yourself with the fact you are posting in Moderation, and thus your posts here are subject to the bad faith rule. Similarly, given you are posting in Moderation, it best to allow Moderators to answer questions.

Hell, I think it's allowed to be a white supremacist OOC, as long as you're civil about it. (Not 100% sure though)
Some people design their sigs as a work of art, with links and colors and complex coding. To which I say...
