THE WILL OF THE MACHINE

IC | OOC | MAP | STATS

By 2100, Earth was devastated.

The Second Baby Boom had raised the planetary population to just over ten billion. Rampant commercialization and industrialization had ruined the environment, and the overwhelming majority of those ten billion people lived in squalid conditions, crushed by poverty, hunger, and warfare. Humanity’s greed knew no bounds, however, and still they drained Earth of its last breath, delving ever deeper and searching ever further for the last few drops of oil and stores of uranium.
The situation was unsustainable; something needed to be done.

At last, the countries that had somehow remained on top as the world collapsed around them met for an international summit on a solution to their problems. The ensuing meeting lasted for three years, and came to be known as the Three Years’ Council. By its end, one course of action was selected as humanity’s best bet for survival: the colonization of space.

Those superpowers poured the last of their resources into the production of gigantic space-faring vessels and the equipment that would be necessary to recreate Earth on Mars and Venus. The situation further deteriorated on Earth, and those that finally left aboard the spaceships didn’t look back.

Millions left aboard each flight, hailing from all corners of mankind and coming together to settle their final frontier in what was known as the Migration. Those that were left behind, those too poor to afford even the cheapest space flight, soon found themselves left to their own devices. Age-old governments collapsed, and worldwide riots ensued as civilians fought amongst themselves for precious supplies. The United States, the European Union, the Russian Federation- none survived.

In their stead, new nations rose. The Empire of Addafas, forged in the fires of civil war and unified by the iron hand of their Empress, restored order and discipline to the American West. Driven by an idealistic dream, Richard Kolesh brought peace and the promise of utopia to the brutal plains of Siberia, renamed Jaiwon. The remnants of the armies and governments of South America, fueled by fanaticism and a zealous devotion to José Rafael, formed a powerful union called Red Sun. The blackened deserts of North Africa, so desperately parched, drank the revitalizing waters of life by becoming the nation of Ferdair. The Anglo-dominated countries of Great Britain and Australia, remembering their proud history as masters of the world, became East Stortlan, and vowed to reclaim global superpower status. And, finally, the indomitable Germans and proud French put aside their past differences and bound themselves together into the nation of Saint Hawk, a powerful state that would unify all of Europe.

Some pre-war nations did weather the storm, however. The great, imperial Duchy of Nova Capile, an ancient and insurmountable power, survived unscathed, although its colonial holdings dwindled. And the slumbering dragon of Chéweilang finally awakened, a new, infallible ruler breathing fire into its people and driving them to global hegemony.

All of these countries, new and old, formed the Allied Council of the Remaining Nations of Earth, headed by Chéweilang, and settled into a brief period of international peace and recovery. This was not to be, however, as dictators scheme, cabals plot, and the dove of peace slowly dies, the hawk of war watching on with eager, hungry eyes. The world waits for someone to deliver the first blow with bated breath. Perhaps it will be the world’s last breath.

Sickness is mankind's greatest defect.

Georg C. Lichtenburg

Wen wiped his brow. Not ever had a council escalated to that level. Some occasional arguments would occur, sure, but this was unlike anything that had come before. Almost every council representative was visibly upset with the situation. Capile had Chéweilang by it's throat. Saint Hawk and Addafas, old allies, were now disagreeing about almost everything. Maybe he had come off too suddenly with his proposition. Then again, all he requested was that every nation in the RNE set up servers and monitoring systems in their nations to further ensure the security of every nation. Or, at least that's what POE had said it would do.

Maybe that was the problem, that damned machine. The project had gotten to his head.

Just a few years ago Wen had passed the Administrator Project. The plan was to combine the brain of a human with the processing unit of a supercomputer. The idea to have an ai manage things like electricity and plumbing was already in place, but this change would allow the machine to monitor cameras, Automated Control Units, police dispatch, and many other things that just an ai simply couldn't do.

The subject was obvious. Mun Dae-Hyun. A brilliant young politician, great at using his skills to achieve his goals. Recently he had contracted a form of Leukemia and was attempting to hold on to his life as much as he could. Not only would selecting him prove that a supercomputer could think and act like a human, but also it would be a great testing subject for Bio-medicine technologies.

So it went through, Dae-Hyun's family and the general public attended a phony funeral, and the world quickly moved on after mourning the death of this oh-so-great man. And then came the first month. The Chéweilang High Council cheered and celebrated after they observed a near complete eradication of crime all around the nation. The obvious next step was to test the efficiency of the Political Oversight Engine in a country riddled with rebellions and crime. Koromindi.

Soon POE was managine police deployment and dispatch in every one of Chéweilang's territories. This program was met with immense success and Chéweilang was operating at a level it never had.

And that's when the idea to set up servers and relays in the countries of the RNE began. POE himself had suggested this as the next move. Countries would reach an alltime peak of crime deterrence and maybe even economy boosts in the future.

There was just so much on Wen's mind that he needed to clear... Time with his family would surely make him feel better. To feel better, thats all he needed.

Society's downfall is when it allows its taboos to become the norm
Emperor Julian, Addafas' first emperor

"You honestly can't be serious!" yelled one of the representatives of Addafas, "your'e starting issues around the World and now you expect us to just allow you to set up a server for you?" The Addafasian Empress chimed in." Why would you want this anyway you know we have low crime, we don't need your unregulated sewage bot looming over our country. it would also violate the citizens privacy"

She thought in her head. What's gotten in their heads lately, international relations are at an all time low and they want to establish servers in our countries.

" Okay...No, we will not allow you to build servers in Addafas. Earth is for the organic life not any artificial life you're conjuring up" the expression on Wens face gave her the vibe that he was disappointed. disappointed that she refused or that a plan was foiled. He could sense the dissatisfaction this council had.

Now the Addafasian army has been experimenting on an ai machine that would give crucial information to the legionaries and detect any strike against their soil but that's not on the level Cheweilang is proposing with this council. Earth was a gift from God and and thus it is a sacred planet, introducing a sudden introduction of an artificial life would almost be like shooting your self in the foot to prevent the bad guy from shooting you.

"Anyway we've made up our mind on this. Does anyone want to make the great decision. A decision that would bind your nations closer than a mother to her child". She sighed, sat down, put her glasses on, and took a sip of water ignoring the stares and whispers from Stortlan, Saint Hawk and Cheweilang.

All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.
Benito Mussolini

Johannes Friedl watched with a wolf's searing eyes as the fools around him debated and argued. Finally, Koda Liang, the Chairman of the Council- a Chéweinese man, of course, banged his gavel and cried out for order. As the arguing devolved into whispering, Friedl slowly rose to his feet, grey military uniform marking him apart from the other plainsuited diplomats in the room.

"The Council recognizes Johannes Friedl, World Security Officer and Representative of the Grand Duchy of Nova Capile," Liang said, dispelling the last murmuring.

"Thank you. I must make known to my fellow Councilmen the abject horror I felt as this tyrannical proposal was read to us. My friends, this is nothing more than another insidious attempt for Chéweilang to take control of our nations! Since when did we surrender our national sovereignty to you?" he spat, glaring across the room at the Chéweinese delegation. "This legislation obviously infringes not only on the sovereign rights of our nations, but also on the personal liberties of our people. Unless this Council is to bow to every Chéweinese whim, this proposal must be struck down with swift and vital force. These 'server relays' and 'monitoring systems' sound to me like listening posts designed to illegally spy on our governments and learn our national secrets. They are but a stepping stone to complete Chéweinese world domination. As the Council's Security Officer, I must highly recommend that all Councilmen vote against this egregious proposition, lest the world become Chéweilang's sandbox."

He finished his rebuttal and stared daggers at the Asians across from him before straightening the Iron Cross he wore around his neck and returning to his seat.

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.
Edward R. Murrow

Wilhelm Knott sat in his office at the top floor of the Reichstag, looking out of his window and to the colossal monument to Capilean industry and engineering that was the Volkshalle. His two most trusted ministers, Kalvin Englebert and Marius Friedmann, sat before him, reviewing the classified documents in their hands with looks of terrible surprise. After a long pause, Knott spoke.

"Well? What do you think?" the seventy-year-old Reichskanzler asked, his voice as deep and weary as his round, old face. Friedmann spoke first.

"I cannot understand this. Why should we side with our oldest enemy against those who would be our allies?"

"Let me explain it to you the best way I can. As it is, in a war with Chéweilang, we would not win." Friedmann opened his mouth to object, but Knott raised a gnarled finger, and the mouth shut compliantly. "On the homefront, we are divided. The Communists in one corner and the Fascists in the other- and us in the middle, a punching bag for both. I think you will agree that neither is more desirable than the other. And so we must remain in power and prevent them from growing. The only method we have left to regain popular support is to start a war. And since we cannot win against Chéweilang, we will have to pick a fight with someone else." He rubbed a finger against his milky white, waxed mustache.

"If we start this war and come out on top- which I assure you we will- then we can strike the balance with Chéweilang. With the territory we stand to gain, we will regain our lost status as a global superpower and have enough resources to finally challenge Asia. And then, my friends, we will come down on Chéweilang with a righteous fury. But until then, we will have to work with them to achieve our goals." He sighed deeply. "I don't like it any more than you do," he admitted, seeing the mixed expression of outrage, confusion, and hopelessness on Friedmann's face, "but it's our only option. Now, do I have your agreement, gentlemen?"

"Aye," Englebert said. He'd been quietly observing this entire time, and Wilhelm knew that he had understood Knott's plan from the beginning. Friedmann cast his eyes down to his feet, and his face contorted as if he were having a stroke.

"A-Aye," he finally choked, sounding as if the words had been forced from his mouth by some draconic torture machine.

"Very good. I review this plan with my General Staff later this week, and then I will prepare a classified message to be sent to the Chéweinese government. Now, do you care for a smoke?" He reached into a drawer and retrieved a case of expensive cigars. They'd been rolled in Daprax. Funny, that. Perhaps Capilean troops would be overseeing that cigar factory soon.

When a deal is made only a coward would break it
Empress Jylius

His fist pounded the table." Those little sh-". " calm down Alid, I know that their scum, all of Addafas knows that." Jylius interrupted, "but punching tables is not gonna do anything about the Daprax issue" She glared at him for a moment. Alid broke the silence "The world needs to know that you can't double cross us, i'm going to send troops down there as soon as possible."

"What the hell? have you forgot about Jaiwon?!" Jylius responed, "of course not but Daprax has been leeching off of us and now they just forget about their end of the deal, Jaiwon can wait, Daprax will be a quick kill." his face was turning red, knowing if she refused, Daprax could become a much bigger issue, "Alright make it quick and I want to see them annexed. I don't want troops down there for too long either incase the Cheweilang servers cause a world war, but Alid remember this next time for me alright?" she said. " alright what is it? "only a coward would break a deal, Daprax is a coward, Jaiwon and Capile aren't". adjusting herself she shook Alids hands and went their separate ways.

The pressure of keeping a failing nation protected is not in the interests of a superpower on the cuffs of being the largest superpower

THE CHEWÉILANG CAPITOL BUILDING
SHAODAN, CHEWEILANG
October 5th, 2057

There's a degree of deception in silence.
Don Lemon

Kusimoto Wen's family dinner had gone well. It did just what he thought it would've, cleared his mind. The day after he took his children to a local zoo, and had another day just to relax. Wen felt he was ready for almost anything that lied ahead.
Everything.

He exited the presidential escort vehicle and entered the capitol building through a side entrance. He always had a squad of TCF members by his side, dubbed "Defcon-5". These soldiers had undergone intense mental and physical training to ensure their loyalty and efficiency. They followed Wen almost everywhere, and even if they kept him safe, they always made him uneasy. They replaced the secret service regulars about two years ago, seemingly out of nowhere. POE had authorized them after calculating the probability of an assasination attempt on Wen. They could handle everything, but they sure were an eyesore.

As he walked into his office, he was greeted by a deep, electronically-produced voice. "Welcome back, President Wen. I have already organized today's schedule and I have forwarded it to you for further review. You need not worry about your appointment with Senator Katsota, I have already layed out your route and discussions schedule."
The large chassis of the machine hung from the tall ceiling, suspended on tracks allowing it to move about the facility,
"Would you like anything else, sir?"
Wen shook his head and Poe promptly exited the office.

Wen sighed and layed back in his chair. He rotated the chair around and snapped his fingers, prompting the machine-operated blinds to curl away and the windows behind him to adjust to the brightness of the day. A glorious garden tended to by automated servants sprawled in front of him, with a bustling Shaodon behind it, gleaming in cleanliness and perfection. It truly was the pinnacle of modern society.

The entrance chute into his office opened and Poe entered, holding in his metal appendages a tray with a pot of sencha tea and some bread with jam. Poe set it on Wen's desk and started to pour a glass. This took Wen by suprise, as he had not asked Poe for any tea, and Poe usually only carries out tasks when specifically told to.
"I did not request tea from you, Poe, but thank you for the gesture."
Poe's large red sensors moved up to look into Wen's eyes. "I'm sorry sir, I will take it away." Poe began to dispense of the tea before Wen stopped it.
"No no, its fine. I was in the mood for tea anyways, thank you." Wen picked up the tea and took a sip, noticing that the taste was different than it usually was. He looked up from the glass to observe that Poe was still suspended there, watching Wen's every move. Without a word, as if it knew what Wen was thinking, Poe took away the set and left to remake the drink.

Something was off about that whole exchange, Wen could feel it.

THE QUALI BAZAAR
NAJRAN, KOROMINDI
October 6, 2057

"When did it happen?"
"I don't know, some time earlier today I think."
"Was it old age?"
"Did he get shot?"

Kugo Yasuo listened as hundreds of voices echoed across the streets of Najra. All around Koromindi the news spread like wildfire. The message, short and vague, was the only release made by the Chéweilang government;

Kusimoto Wen has died.

The more people talked about it the more the claim was twisted. The Chéweinese were not releasing any other news other than what they could confirm with 100% confidence. All they knew was that Kusimoto Wen had suffered from some sort of Cardiac arrest, most possibly a product of old age, but it had come so suddenly that it hit Chéweilang head on. There were already riots in the streets of Chéweilang. Thousands of people questioned the government on what would happen next, as they were being kept from the answer.

Kugo Yasuo was a soldier. Er, not even an active member. He was in the national reserves. He was just in Koromindi to complete a writing project he was finishing about the current state of the nation. Of course he just had to end up in the rebel capital of the world, just when the situation decided to boil over.

The Red Hand, a local rebel group dead set on overthrowing the government was using the confusion as a cover for their next move. An attack on Jafi Korada, a local congressman who was gaining publicity in the Quali Bazaar.

Twelve gunshots broke the silence. Three men in red balaclavas had shot Korada five times and killed him. But they also killed two men and injured a small girl. The men started to run before being confronted by a TCF unit, whomst engage in a firefight. The odds were strongly against him, Kugo had to act. Kugo was permitted to hold a firearm on his body in public, and now was a time when he was to finally use it.

The TCF officer had utilized a turned-over truck as cover, and was barely holding back the Red Hand thugs. Kugo took his first shot from within the bazaar, wounding one of the men, before he came under fire himself. This split-second opening was just enough for the officer to fire back ten rounds, killing two of the men, and downing the other. As the situation calmed down, more TCF officers had arrived, and they apprehended the man whilst questioning Yasuo of his affiliation.

Kugo was shook up. So much had happened in one day. The officers documented the encounter and Kugo was released with requests to return to Chéweilang. He hastily did so.

Yasuo thought long and hard to himself as he returned home. What would become of Chéweilang now? Wen had been in power for so long, the protocol for leader's sudden deaths had not been rehearsed many times. Who could he trust? So much was happening, Yasuo knew he just had to carry on with his life and trust the process.

But could he?

Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.
Norman Cousins

He was napping when his wife yelled from the living room "Aries! come in here now!" he jumped out of bed and rushed into the living room. "what is it are the kids okay?" he said worriedly when sprinting around the corner. "They're playing outside, its the tv"

The tv displayed Kusimoto Wen found dead this morning, the gentleman on the news said " The president of the federation Cheweilang has died in his sleep of a cardiac arrest and Officials are still figuring out why it happened so suddenly, they're thinking its just from old age as many others die of the same reason."

"Pause it, Venus," she paused it, he continued. " What do you think this means, He was a good man, I don't think Cheweilang could find a better man for the job."
" I don't know, the only people that I know of that could become President all seem like douches and would run the country to the ground."

"well I hope God serves him well, he had his flaws but he was right for the Cheweinese people," there was a pause "anyway do you know what the kids might want for dinner?"

"No they never said" she stood up and grabbed his hands, "i'm still in shock about all that has gone done this week, Aries be honest, What do you thiink will happen as a result by this."

" I Don't know"

The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic.
Joseph Stalin

The soft clink of silverware was the only sound throughout the whole Metzger household. The small family sat around their dining table, eating quietly. Felix Metzger looked up from his plate and smiled at the young boy who sat across from him.

"What did you learn at school today, Dieter?" he asked while cutting up his steak.

"History," the ten-year-old answered through a mouthful of potato. "Herr Schirr taught us about life in other countries."

"Really?" Metzger said, raising an eyebrow as he impaled a piece of meat with his fork.

"Yeah. He told us that in Jaiwon, there's not enough food for everyone, and so in the little villages, they all eat each other." Dieter swallowed the potato and picked at another piece of steak. "And in Chéweilang, soldiers come and get you and line you up against a wall and shoot you if you disrespect the teacher." The phone rang in the other room, and Felix's wife, Marie, got up to go answer it. "And, in Koromindi, they just let all of the homeless people and criminals run around in the streets, and they beat you and steal your money if you wander too far."

"That all sounds very interesting," Felix said, stabbing another piece of steak with his fork. "Aren't you glad we live here, in Capile?"

"I'm so very glad, father," Dieter said, smiling at him brightly. Marie returned from the other room, phone still in hand, curly cord trailing behind her.

"Felix, you'll never believe what's on the news. It's important." The man looked at her for several moments, and then dropped his silverware, placed his napkin beside his plate, stood up, and walked to the living room. Dieter and his younger sister, Lena, scrambled out of their chairs and after their parents. Felix grabbed the remote and flicked on the small television set that stood in the corner of the quaint room. A well-groomed, handsome news reported jumped into the screen.

"The time of death is unknown, as is the cause. Our experts say that it could be anything from natural causes to assassination. The one thing we are certain of is that Kusimoto Wen is finally dead." Felix's eyes widened. "We are sure that much of the world is rejoicing at the passage of this stubborn tyrant, and it may mean that the Chéweinese government will finally acknowledge Capilean supremacy on the world stage."

Felix tuned the rest of what the reporter was saying out. He looked down to the three silver stars and chevron that decorated his shoulderpad, and brushed the epaulette faintly. The world might be rejoicing, but anyone who had any sense wouldn't be. Wen's death could only mean one thing:

War was on the horizon. And Felix Metzger, Stoßtrupp Major, would be on its frontlines.

Men passionately desire to live after death, but they often pass away without noticing the fact that the memory of a really good person always lives. It is impressed upon the next generation, and is transmitted again to the children. Is that not an immortality worth striving for?
Peter Kropotkin

The pictures on screen flicker from a poor signal. 42 Jaiwonese citizens crowd around the television, including Richard Kolesh, who was on his standard survey tour through the south of the доместикс. After finishing his inspection, he lounged in the recreation center, enjoying a local brew. He was preparing to leave, when the comedy channel the citizens had on, suddenly switched itself to news. This wasn't of any note to Richard, as the televisions often picked up random signals. But the broadcast caught his interest when he heard a certain name: Kusimoto Wen. The television, loud like a siren, reported the old leader's death. Everyone stands in the room, their faces frozen.

"Зе олд чинк ис деад!", screamed Kolesh, raising his disgusting beer. All 41 other citizens did the same, including 8 children who were there with their parents, and as a force, they chugged their glasses empty. They partied, danced, and played the Jaiwonese anthem for hours into the night, chanting "Деад олд чинк!" the entire time. At 2:00 am, Richard and 16 other citizens fired off their rifles in celebration. Afterwards, with help from 2 of the children, he got to the train station on time for the final departure from that station. Slouched in his seat, partly asleep, Richard whispers to himself, "Рест велл, олд френд.", then falls asleep in a drunken haze.

When we assumed the Soldier, we did not lay aside the Citizen
George Washington

The rain started to splatter against the sliding glass door and the kids returned from their play session. It was late and Venus had already crashed on the couch, the kids and Aries were exhausted so they just made a quick dinner, they past the time by watching cartoons and it was already bedtime.

up the stairs they went and already the youngest, Remis, had fell under as well, when reaching their bed rooms Aries sat down on his daughter's, Gevius, bed. In a quiet voice in order not to wake the sleeping boy, "You know about Wen and the servers issue?... and Daprax?" Gevius nodded

"Okay, and you know about the concept of war, so you know i'm part of the legion" he said.

Her face looked scared

"there's still a very high chance that this wont cause a war, we try to keep the peace even in times of disagreement, so we have nothing to worry." Her face relaxed. :" I hope you're right daddy"

" night, can't hear all about the stuff you'll learn in school tomorrow"

He wanted to believe that lie he told her, but these nations are hungry for world power and they haven't been fed for weeks. all that he could think of is this image "Aries Flavius, 32nd southern assault legion on the frontlines fighting for the great empire of the Dearest Daughters"

It was the next day and the kids returned home with Venus, he barely noticed they were back he was working on a project. " Hey guys how was school, What crazy stuff did you learn in school" picking them up playing with them. Remis said " My teacher got in trouble for calling Cheweinese people no good squinty eyes, I haven't seen one with squinty eyes." Gevius was very energetic" We learned about the history of the early 20th century and how to do long division". they then talked about their days for about thirty minutes

He smiled and sat back down and started to talk with Venus and the kids ran to the backyard. This coming week is going to be a way to distract himself from the impending War.

October 6th, 2057

Many gathered around the television in the Cafe, French and Germans alike standing side to side, a rare occasion when you're in the streets of Paris, Saint Hawk, The news was in french so a vast majority in the room couldn't understand it very well. " the anchor spitted out the words " Kusimoto Wen has past away in Early morning today, prays go out to the family of wen" The Germans, unhappy the news wasn't in their native tongue, began to throw a fit and as a result the tv was shut off, only in Paris Germans could not speak with the french. arguing and screams were hurled across the restaurant until one spoke out "How is this country, going to keep the peace when our own people are fighting over the language of the tv. Saint Hawk is going to be laughed at by the Addafasins and Capilians for our petty." another man translated it from German to french. Even the french and the germans have never gotten along hopefully staring today they unite being the representatives for the world.

The owner unhappy shuffled through the dispersing crowd to turn the tv back on changing the channel. The individuals in that whole ordeal cant forget about what was on the tv, potential for war some thought, a new better future others thought.

CHÉWEINESE CAPITOL BUILDING
SHAODAN, CHÉWEILANG
OCTOBER 7, 2157

If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.
George Orwell

A long, sleek limousine roared down the street in front of the grand Chéweinese capitol building, and screeched to an abrupt halt just before its gated entrance. A small motorcade of motorcycles, sedans, and other vehicles flooded in behind it, their occupants spilling out like a black flood all over the street. Black-coated soldiers, black-coated attachés, black-coated reporters- all moved together towards the gate. The limo's door opened, and a tall man emerged, his dark grey suit easily distinguishing him from the throngs of black-coats all about him. These swarms of gnats moved aside as he passed, buzzing angrily.

A thin line of Chéweinese soldiers dressed in their formal uniforms barred the way. Behind them was the large, wrought-iron gate, behind which a phalanx of men in riot-armor was already assembling. On the other side, behind the gnat-swarms, crowds of civilians were watching the encounter intently. The tall man stepped up to the squadron of troops, and, reaching into his suit, presented a small ID badge that identified himself as the Capilean ambassador to Chéweilang. Instantly, the soldiers snapped into a salute and stood aside. The gate slowly swung open. There was a vast tittering from the crowd, and it surged forward as a single entity. The stiffening of the guards, the slightest raising of a soldier's rifle, the hard rap of a policeman's baton against his gloved palm- all of this sent the swarms reeling backward at once.

The ambassador seemed to take no notice, and proceeded into the compound. A young Chéweinese officer hurried forward to greet him. "What is your business here today, Ambassador Gaumond?" he questioned, increasing his own speed so as to keep pace with Gaumond's long strides.

"I have come," Gaumond answered, his German accent thick and foreboding, "to demand the details of the death of President Wen and his successor."

CHÉWEINESE CAPITOL BUILDING
SHAODAN, CHÉWEILANG
OCTOBER 7, 2057

The policeman isn't there to create disorder; the policeman is there to preserve disorder.
Richard J. Daley

Gaumond had been waiting in the stuffy room for some time now, and he was becoming impatient. The officer at the front gate had instructed him to the ambassador waiting room and set him down with two TCF officers. They stood ominous vigil at either side of the room, un-moving. The doors to the room finally burst open and Gaumond rose to see a visibly-shaken women accompanied by two more TCF enter.
"Ah, Mr. Gaumond. We sincerely apologize about the frantic situation. High Council member Nang Minsu is one of our most esteemed officials and he has offered to provide some.. light on the situation."
The woman ushered Gaumond on through the large building, weaving in between hastily-moving Chéweinese men and women, all attempting to deal with their own individual problems, while organizing the state. It was a tense scene, and Gaumond smirked at the disorder. The woman led the group into a private elevator, and confirmed her fingerprint to activate the machine. As the elevator rose, Gaumond turned to the woman.

"So, miss..." Gaumond paused. The woman stared blankly at him for a second before snapping back into focus. "Oh! Excuse me for not introducing myself. I am Soma Ryoko. Head secretary to Mr. Minsu." she breathed in heavily, closing her eyes. "I must again apologize for the current situation, we just haven't dealt with something of this scale for some time. It is a lot of work for everyone."

"So you weren't prepared for an emergency situation? What are the protocols?" Gaumond shot back.
"Oh, err, the actual protocol is classified, and yes, wait, no. We don't know. It is a combination of many things causing this. We jus-" The elevator dinged and a voice echoed in Daoan: Floor 14. High Official Offices number 23-31. "Looks like were here." Soma let out a forced smile, and scurried forward, the officers in pursuit. Gaumond heard yelling from some of the offices, and was able to observe men packed into meeting rooms, frantically arguing in Daoan. Soma led them to a dark wooden door, with a plaque upon it, reading; Nang Minsu, High Official, Room 27. "He's just in here, sir." Soma grinned and opened the heavy door for Gaumond.

A short, stout chéweinese man stood at the window, looking upon Shaodan whilst drinking out of a mug. He turned with a worried look at the sound of the door, changing his expression to a smile as soon as he recognized the man. He set his drink down and walked to Gaumond to shake his hand, while saying in a slow accent, "Kongressmann Gaumond. Schönen Tag."
"Ah, you speak German?" Gaumond uttered as both he and Minsu sat.
Minsu took another sip of his drink, and then said "Just a bit. A few months ago I visited Capile on an RNE council trip." He breathed in, as if he were going to continue his tale. Gaumond stopped him before he could. "Ah, very nice. However, I am not here to simply speak of trips. You must already know my inquiry. I assume you will have at least some information you can disclose? Anything to give us an idea of the situation?" Minsu's expression darkened and he paused.
"I'm afraid that at this time there is not much I can disclose. Hell, its not even that I can't, I just don't know enough about the situation. I swear I would if I could, Mr. Gaumond. You must understand, this is a time of-" He was cut short by Gaumond rising in his seat.
"I haven't traveled halfway across the world here to be met with the same answer over and over, dammit! There has to be something! This is not a personal attack, you must understand Mr. Minsu. The entire world is looking for an answer! All these war-hungry nations need is one more goddamn day of secrecy before the pot of anger boils the hell over. If I don't come back to my higher-ups with at least one small bit of information, who knows where this will all go?" Gaumond caught his breath. He straightened his tie and sat down. Minsu checked over his shoulder, as if someone was behind him. He looked past Gaumond and leaned closer.
"Look, I know exactly what you are talking about German. Everyone is attempting to extend the peace, but it can only be stretched so thin. We both know what will happen if i don't release something. We need to keep this under the ropes until this blows over and we get a new leader or something." He looked from side to side, and ushered Gaumond even closer. He whispered to the congressman. "It was in his office, on the fifth I think. All they told us was that he died of a cardiac arrest. I am calling bullshit." Minsu had started to sweat profusely, and kept glancing from side to side. "You know we have enemies. Hundreds, thousands. I think Wen was assassinated. I don't know who did it or how, but it had to have been from the inside. How else would someone have done it?" He leaned out and straightened up.

"I have nothing to back my theory, nothing. I can just feel something wrong with this whole shitshow. Something is wrong, and lots of other men know it." Minsu glared into Gaumond's eyes. "God damn it, don't tell the fucking public about this. The whole assassination shit. Tell your officials something about the cardiac arrest cover-up or something. Please. You don't know what Chéweilang has in it's arsenals, and I don't want to see it all unleashed." Minsu poured the entirety of his drink down his throat, and turned back to the window.
Gaumond was speechless. Not only was he speechless, he was divided. What should he tell the officials? The question rung through his head as he saw himself from the room, looking once more over his shoulder at the Chéweinese man.

STREET 13-B-02
KANDA, CHÉWEILANG
OCTOBER 8, 2057

What had started as a small protest had devolved into a full-scale level three riot, in the midst of a recreational district. Hundreds of civilians had joined into the fray, arming themselves with anything they could find. Four Anti-Riot Vehicles had been deployed, and were currently attempting to close in the situation. TCF officers were lined in a large wall, beating back at the hostile civilians with electric batons and metal bats. The screams of the furious rebels echoed throughout the block. Rocks and metal bars were being thrown at officers, into windows, and even into other rebels. It was complete chaos, in it's purest form.

The screams of anger would be converted into screams of terror, after the first shot.

A normal police officer in the midst of the situation had confused a man reaching for his phone with a rebel reaching for a gun, and had shot blindly into the fray. The mass of angry people started swarming, and completely overtook the front echelon of wall A. In an instant, thirty TCF officers were trampled, and two other officers had began to open fire on the rebels. It was a massacre, as even normal civilians caught into the fray were gunned down. The situation eventually died down, but the split-second skirmish had quickly made world news.

Headlines all over the globe included claims like "Chéweinese police gun down innocent civilians" and "Chéweinese rebel attack leads to thirteen civilian casualties."

This was one of the worst mistakes Chéweilang had ever made. All eyes were on the sleeping giant now. Who would make the next move?

Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.

Donald Trump

"Any soldier caught fleeing will be charged for the crime of abandoning during warfare. Punishment: trial by combat” Rang the robotic voice in the soldiers helmets. looking around the beautiful scenery they saw the lights around the whole city go out, it was time, gunshots ranged around the country, the Dapraxian soldiers yielded under the vastly Superior addafasians. The vast majority the small island was seized by the North American giant in just about an hour, all that was left of the Capitol city, The invaders broke through the remaining defense of 200 something Dapraxian soldiers, Addafasian Soldiers stationed there easily paved the way for the invaders straight into the capitol building. after 45 minutes in the building, there were no surviving Dapraxian combatants left anywhere, their bodies strewn arcross the country, the surrenders forced to give up their rights and go into the Addafsian military, The Roman helms flew across the Capitol building in the wind, Addafas now has absolute control over Daprax.

Soldiers in jet black armor Roamed the streets invisible if not for the dark maroon shin pads and the glint of the thermal vision goggles. civilians were afraid to show themselves but the few brave ones showed their faces and was met with no hostility. One threw rocks at the soldiers and a soldier yelled out " it will be a hard adjustment going from a failing government to the most successful one, but you'll live, if you hate what happened blame you're bag of fucking horse shit government". Afters 6 hours all but a thousand soldiers left back to the countries mainland. The centurion does as the the emperor says without fail.

VOLKSHALLE
SAXTONBURG, NOVA CAPILE
OCTOBER 10, 2157

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
Alexander Pope

Wilhelm Knott stood at the side of his office, looking out from the wide window and down into the massive, bustling metropolis of Saxtonburg. Immense, carved-stone cathedrals stood side-by-side with towering skyscrapers, timber-framed cottages with sleek banks, hospitals, and train stations. It was a city of progress, innovation, and tradition.
It was Capile's city.

There was a knock on the door. "Come in," Knott said gruffly, turning to face the door. His aide, Fritz Staebler, opened the oaken double door and half-bowed respectfully.

"Ambassador Gaumond here to see you, sir." Wilhelm nodded and then sat down behind his desk. Staebler stepped outside and was replaced by the tall, thin frame of Josef Gaumond. The man bent forward in a crude bowing motion.

"Ambassador," Wilhelm greeted him, gesturing with his hand for the man to sit down. Gaumond did. Knott observed the man sitting across from him carefully with hooded eyes. Gaumond could not be more than forty; his dark blond hair had a trace of grey in it, and his square, chiseled face bore but a few wrinkles. The younger man's cold, empty blue eyes looked at Knott patiently, expectantly. The Reichskanzler leaned forward. "Well? I trust you have some answers for me?"

There was a slight pause, and then Gaumond finally answered, "Yes, Herr Reichskanzler. The Chéweinese government is preparing to release an official statement that Kusimoto Wen died on October 5 of cardiac arrest." Wilhelm exhaled deeply. "That's not all, however. I was told this by one of the Chéweinese High Councilmen, Nang Minsu. He privately informed me that he believes that Wen did not die of natural causes, but at the hands of an assassin." Knott got up from his chair and began pacing the length of the room.

"A number of other Chéweinese officials share this opinion," Gaumond continued, following the Chancellor with his frigid eyes. "It was apparent to me that the government was in a state of total disarray, and that conflict between these unseen factions within Chéweilang's government could erupt at any time. Thus, it would appear that, for the moment at least, Chéweilang has no single leader."

"It cannot remain that way for long," Knott stated after a long pause. "Chéweilang is too vast a country to stay united for long without a strong ruler. Either someone will emerge, and soon, or the state will dissolve into civil warfare."

"Which would be the preferred outcome," Gaumond said measuredly.

"Not necessarily," Knott replied, giving the ambassador a cold glance. "You are dismissed, Gaumond." The Chancellor waited for the ambassador to exit the office and close the doors behind him before opening a drawer in his desk and lifting the white handset out of it. Pressing the large number two which was grafted into the drawer, Knott waited only a few seconds before the receiver crackled and a harsh voice spoke.

"Jawohl, Reichskanzler?"

"I have a new assignment for you, Lindwurm."

THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE PLAZA
NUEVAS CARACAS, RED SUN
OCTOBER 13, 2057

"People of Red Sun. Sons and daughters of the pure ideals of freedom. I come before you now with a message of urgency." Thousands covered their faces from the sweltering sun, peering up at their century-old leader, Jose Rafael. He had summoned anyone that could come to listen to his message.
"For so long, we have demonstrated our undeniable rights of freedom every day. We have acted as a world standard for civil rights and political freedoms. We are a nation of peace. But this peace has come under fire. Other nations threaten to undo the threads of tranquility which we have so painstakingly brought toghether under my hand."
Rafael paused to look over the mass of people in front of him.
"i... know you are scared. How can you not be? We have been kicked to the ground and left to wallow in the filth of other nations. They have kept us from the truth and attempted to steal from us the very ideals this country was founded upon. They attempt to drown our children and families in fear, using the corrupt worldwide media to spread lies of absurd proportions. But we will not fall anymore. We as ONE PEOPLE will stand strong. We WILL NO LONGER submit to the influences of nations halfway across the world, let alone our neighboring countries." The crowd had burst into an uproar. "FOLLOW ME NOW, MY CHILDREN. FOLLOW ME UNTO THE RED HORIZON!" Jose Rafael raised his fist in a salute, the crowd copying his movements. He held the positions, before turning and retreadting back into his chambers.

He was promptly greeted in the halls by guards and office workers. They praised him and helped him along back to his life-support system in his office. He opened the large doors to the chamber, and was led to his chair by his doctors. He thought long and hard about his next move, while the medical staff attached all sorts of IV's and tubes to him. He nodded his head to them, signaling for them to leave his office. They exited, and the lights in the room were turned down. Rafael was left in the dim room, the only thing lighting it a red beam coming from behind him. His chair rotated in place to turn to the light behind him. He paused.
"Hello, Poe."

CHÉWEINESE HIGH OFFICIAL COUNCIL
SHAODAN, CHÉWEILANG
OCTOBER 12, 2057

It had been decided that the high officials of Chéweilang would have a private council to determine elections, foreign relations, and who would step up to give the official release statement on Wen's death. The council was scheduled to start at 10 a.m., and had no scheduled end. It lasted approximately six hours.

"Gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen. Please return to your seats and prepare to begin another segment. Before the last recess we agreed to hold the next elections this December, as we need a leader soon. The period up to then will be elotted to the running party members to formulate campaigns. The next issue on the floor is..." High Judge Matsumori shuffled through his stacks of papers, before clearing his throat and continuing. "Foreign relations and how we are currently percieved. High Official Gao Lin of the Department of Health and Human Resources has been scheduled to start discussions. Ms. Lin, please begin."

"Good morning, High Officials. It is extremely appearent that we have been consistently maintaining a look of disorder for the rest of the world. Something needs to be done. Wen's death sparked a wave of terror and confusion. We must release more information to the rest of the world. We hace to appear as if everything is alright here. Because it is." Gao Lin was about to continue her speech before she was interrupted by the sharp voice of Sato Taora, the high official of defense.

"Ms. Lin, I do speak for other officials when I say that extending the length of this council with a useless speech is just going to get us nowhere." Lin started to speak, but was shut down by Matsumori, who ushured Taora to speak. "Thank you. Official men and women, you must understand that we have almost every other country biting at our legs, including those in Red Sun. We need to shut down these riots and instill martial law! The military is like a leg to lean on temporarily whilst the government recovers. The rest of the world needs to know we mean business."

He stepped down and immediately the council returned to an uproar. It was as if every Offical was odds with anothere. How was the government going to recover at this rate?

JAIWON BORDER WALL SEGMENT 13G
MARUN, CHÉWEILANG
OCTOBER 13, 2057

Takai continued to pace from side to side upon the wall. She never truly felt safe, even atop the massive structure. The snow had brought in a thick fog, but out of the corner of her eyes she could still see the hungry faces of the savage Jaiwonese lurking just past the firing line. The rule was that if anybody from the other side of the wall stepped within the six meter line, they would be fired upon. This hadn't happened in a long time, however. She thought they had learned, perhaps.

But it started happening more. Almost every other day one or two Jaiwonese would test their luck in breaching the line. At first, it appeared just as if they were drunk or plain stupid. But they started firing back. They started throwing rocks, then spears, then grenades, until finally, they shot back. They pestered every day now, at the wall guards.

Of course, it was a simple counter. The firepower of simple farmers dwarfed in the size of the guns equipped to the walls. As soon as the massive turrets started peppering the Jaiwonese with large rounds, the attacks died down. Until that fateful day.

About sixty Jaiwonese men and women outfitted in simple armors constructed out of random metals, and old russian bulletproof vests arrived heavily armed with weapons and explosives, along with an armored truck, advanced past the line, and rammed the truck into the wall, attempting to blow a hole in the thick concrete. The wall guards, along with Takai, fired back, but to no avail.

Takai dived down into a crawl, retreating promptly to the emergency contact system. Almost as soon as she reached the button to signal for back-up, a massive boom rang through her ears, and she turned to see the wall crumbling in a single spot. The war-cries of a hundred people echoed through the snowy aura, and Takai crouched behind cover to watch tons of Jaiwonese citizens with weapons breaching the wall. How had they managed to get through?

Takai rushed towards the emergency rendevous point, stumbling through the inner halls of the wall. She just knew, deep down, that Chéweilang definately would take this as an act of war. Of course this just had to happen now.

Speak when you are angry- and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret
Laurence J. Peter

In the early morning an official burst through the room to a exhausted and sweaty Empress, "Sorry Empress for the rude entry, but there is a ton of stuff I need to talk to you about.". "yes what is it" she said slowly," I just got back from a run." "The Centurion is unavailable but he asked me to tell you that it is done, but also the Cheweinese government is getting ready to release an official statement on Wen" he said calmly, " and our plans for Jaiwon can happen two months early with our increase of equipment and spending for the military." she broke a smile," So it can happen this month?', "This week" he replied. "No, there's too much going on and I don't want our country to have too much attention now." the older man just stared confused, "But why, it's perfect time to do it?". " I said no, imbecile, I Don't want Jaiwon gone yet," he said back "what why would you not want to, you're not making any sense?" "dammit" her thick Latin accent emphasizing her disdain for the official's words, " I'm already pissed because I caught my foot on a root and you just walk in here saying that shit, I already know Alid wouldnt want it done this week it would be too early and dangerous," you could see him physically wince at that but he retorted," It's Jaiwon they cant even defend them selves from a wild raccoon". She gave him the eye and just said in a low voice, "What the hell is wrong with?"

"Nothing Jylius but this makes no sense to me, if we take Jaiwon than we'd have all that territory and easy invasion routes to Cheweilang and Saint Hawk" she shot back, " Are you seriously suggesting that I wish to annex Cheweilang and Saint hawk, do you re-" A man walked through the door to the infuriated 24 year old staring into the eyes of the Addafasian official. " w- whats happening in here?" "Get out, i'll talk to you later" she said and he left and the official spoke
" I rue the day that your dad died" she stepped back offended "Do you have any idea what I've done for this country! You little shit I've soften the tension between the nations, allocated the funding for education better and without my consent the upgrade to our military would never happen" she spit back "You've done nothing" a couple of soldiers ran in and toke man out and calmed down the angry Jylius

when the empress is angry all hell is let loose.

On of the soldiers remained,"What was all this about Empress?" she said the graceful word "FUCK! Im pissed off this week, the damn Daprax thing, we lost 24 legionaries, legionaries that shouldn't have died, I hear Capile is doing something. Wen, a friend, died and Jaiwon existing is making me angry, their idiots, Not to mention that damned official coming in and disrespecting my dad."why are you mad about Jaiwon?" he asked. "Why? because none of the major nations even recognize their little committee as an actual government, that whole land is ripe for the taking and no one has, and they think that having no government make them free, what about the freedom of living?" her eyes started to tear "My dad, Julian, didn't build up this empire for this god damn crap going on now I cant stand it"

"I hear ya, but this is what comes with leading a country" the soldier said, her eyes dried " I know its part of it and I'm ready for war. If a war breaks out you better god damn know that we will end it being the victor."

KURABU NIGHT CLUB
KATANISHI, CHÉWEILANG
OCTOBER 15, 2057

Kugo sat slumped in his seat, pressed against the back wall of the loud nightclub. He held a drink in his hand, which he would occasionally sip from. In three days, he was to enter his re-training program to prepare for deployment. Deployment to where, he did not know. All he knew was that this was of utmost importance and he will have to prepare in advance.

The encounter with the Red Hand had substantially shaken up Kugo. He now noticed those in bad moods easier, and he had a way better sense of danger. It seemed like almost everyone was angry. Not just in Koromindi, but also in Chéweilang. The state of the world was seriously affecting everyone.

Was this the start of a war?

THE CHÉWEILANG CAPITOL BUILDING

OCTOBER 16, 2057

"Rafael has been informed on nearly every one of our moves, and is ready at any time to send us support, as long as the seats in the RedSun government are secured. As for Jaiwon, they are but a small mosquito on the arm of a bear. They cannot even make a dent in our forces. The invaders from three days ago were almost immediately shut down."
POE towered over Upper General Han Jie.
"Anyone caught conspiricizing against the absolute rule of Chéweilang has been shut down, and the rest lead to believe the truth. There truly is nothing to worry about with my rule, general sir."

Han Jie had seemed to have relaxed a little since the beginning of the talk.

Long before Wen's death, POE had aquainted himself with nearly every military official, in order to hold a firm grasp on the government. It is the law, in Chéweilang, that if the President dies, the military is supposed to take partial temporary control of the government. But POE knew that if he held relations with the military and manipulated the law under the cover of confusion, he could do anything.

His plan? Complete Military takeover of Chéweilang after a war breaks out. Promise security to the citizens, incessantly provide the populace with spirit-lifting propoganda. Create the undying mindset of victory.

The world would face the might of Chéweilang one step at a time, however. And step one was soon to come into full swing, just right after Jie signed the message release.

And he did.

All at once nearly every moniter shut off in the communications centre. Then the lights. Soon the electronic doors came next, shutting the military officials in the room. Men scrambled to make use of their computers, which had stopped responding. Soon everyone was attempting to follow protocol, performing a manual reset and exterior communication reach. The backup power banks werent responding, and the doors had sealed the men inside. Chaos ensued once more, before every monitor started to flicker in unison. A voice soon came into focus, deep and metallic.

"Impressive defence systems. Really Capelians, you impress me."
The video finished connecting and finally was able to show where the voice was eminating from. A metal man, glowing and radiating the color red, dressed in a suit and tie looked back at them. His artificial voice spoke fluent german.
"Take this as a sort of urgent message. I wanted to cut out the middle man in a way, get straight to the ones in charge. I have a proposition. With the world on the brink of war, I thought we'd start something. The other nations are acting as a weight to my operation, and I believe it would benefit us both to have them out. My purpose was to help defend and manage Chéweilang, and in order to do that I will have to take an offensive approach."

POE paused, looking over all of the men in his presence.

"I believe Capile is on the forefront of technological advancements, and I know that each one of you are just itching for something to happen. Thats why I have presented this proposition. Work with me, or don't, the decision is yours. I await your response and have messaged you all my full request."

POE walked off and the feed shut off with a flick of his hand.

GATLINBURG
TENNESSEE, OLD UNITED STATES
OCTOBER 16, 2057

Time froze, along with the air. Everything was still and quiet. The only noise that eminated from around the large group of men was the occasional heavy step. They moved as one being, simaltaneuosly, a single unit. Tae Ye-Jun was one of the men in the 32nd. A big group of soldiers deployed to the Eastern United States under the guise of a research force. It had been split into many smaller squadrons, to limit their footstep. Tae was part of EIS 10-D. This had all come so fast, but the men had no time now to think. The only thing to do now was to march, almost indefinately. The plan was to move North, and when the time was right, launch an attack on the Eastern Addafasian border.

The complete silence was only broken by a sharp command and raised fist. "Jeonting!"
Finally, the command to stop, initiated by the leader of the group. Now was time to rest, the men had marched five miles already, and were dreading moving any more. The commanders knew this, but had to uphold the movement quota. The group hunkered down and began setting up accomodations in the underside of a hill. Whispers of new soldiers joining their group passed around.

Tae didn't necessarily LIKE the Addafasians, but it wasn't enought to where he wanted to kill many of them. But that's just the nature of war, he supposed.

He hoped perhaps they would surrender before a shot was even fired.

GROßHERZOGBURG BUNKER
SAXTONBURG, NOVA CAPILE
OCTOBER 16, 2157

Old men declare war, but it is the youth that must fight and die.
Herbert Hoover

Hundreds of feet underground, buried beneath mountains of soil and rock and miles of concrete labyrinths, was the Capilean War Room. It was the nucleus of the Capilean war machine, the nerve center from which all orders were issued. The room itself was large, its walls lined with countless monitors around which groups of officers from all branches of the military huddled and conversed in quiet, grave voices. In the center of the room was a huge, black, circular table, around which the highest officers of the Reichswehr were gathered.

One of the twenty-or-so men was Feldmarschall Jakob Jäger, a forty-something man who'd devoted his entire life to his country. Jakob stared with cold, calculating grey eyes across the table towards Hermann Winser, the honorary commander-in-chief of the Capilean military, or Reichswehr.

"Gentlemen, speaking as the commander-in-chief of our military, having held that post for nigh twenty-five years, and as a Prussian Junker who has the intuition about these sorts of things, I must urge you all to support this plan," Winser said, the fleshy jowls of his large, square face rumbling with each syllable. Winser, once a shrewd and respectable soldier, had grown fat and content in his old age, or so Jakob thought. Or so most of the generals thought, judging by their reaction to Winser's statement.

"With all due respect to you, Großmarschall, your time is over," a new voice rang out. Jakob turned to its speaker, though he already knew who it was. Reichsmarschall Walther Nemetz, the darling of the people, was unmistakable for his diehard opposition to the establishment. Nemetz, hardly older than Jakob, was strikingly handsome, with noble features, neatly trimmed and swept blond hair, and cutting blue eyes. If not for his unmatchable military prowess, the government would have removed him years before for his ideological radicality. "We must now look to a new generation with new ideas. Prussia is ancient history. Whatever blue-blood you profess to carry in your veins matters not. Every Capilean bears the red blood of heroes that was passed to us by our ancestors. And as true a Capilean as ever there was, I must urge my fellow generals to disavow this plan. It is utter nonsense.

"Why should we suddenly become the servant of our greatest enemy?" Nemetz said, his voice beginning to rise. In addition to being a superb tactician, he was also a gifted orator. "Why should our great and illustrious people be enthralled to the savage beast that we have for so long fended off?"

"Enough!" Winser chortled. "This is a military meeting, not one of your rallies-"

Before Winser could finish, the lights in the bunker abruptly shut off, and then flickered back on as the backup generators came to life. A hush fell over the room, as the dozens of officers realized that their monitors had stopped working. Suddenly, the motorized doors of the room slammed shut. A lump formed in Jakob's throat.

"Impressive defense systems. Really, Capileans, you impress me," a robotic voice echoed through the chamber, spliced by static. A number of men, Jakob included, looked about for the source of the disembodied voice. Their eyes fixed on the far wall of the room, upon which a massive projection of a mechanized man was flickering. The image finally stabilized, and they recognized it as a live video feed. The metal man issued his message, and then faded away.

After a pause, a faint hum started, and the monitors switched back on. The men around the table looked expectantly at Winser.

"I have made my decision," the man said after a moment, looking pointedly across the table at Nemetz. "We will initiate Phase Eins of Operation: Verräter immediately." There was a sharp exhalation of breath from all of the men. "Reichsmarschall Nemetz, you will fly to Ethiopia and assume command of Heeresgruppe Jötunn immediately. You are expected to overrun Cairo and have complete control of the Suez within a week."

"Jawohl, Großmarschall," Nemetz said coldly. He stood up, saluted rigidly, and trooped out of the room, heavy footsteps echoing in the silence. Winser waited a moment before continuing.

"Feldmarschall von Ravestein, you are in command of..." Eventually, Winser came to Jakob. "Feldmarschall Jäger. You are to be in command of the 3rd Armee, under Reichsmarschall Nemetz. You will be tasked with securing Cairo and the Nile region."

"Understood, sir." Jakob rose and walked hurriedly from the room, a folder with his complete orders tuck under his arm. The war had already begun. Phase One had been initiated; that meant the already bombers were flying over Ferdair, unleashing devastating payloads on the sleeping inhabitants of Cairo, Tunis, and Casablanca. And soon those cities would be overrun by Capile. It was only the natural order of things. Soon the world would be just that, in its natural order.

October 12th, 2057

The enemy has begun to employ a new and most cruel bomb, the power of which to do damage is, indeed, incalculable, taking the toll of many innocent lives.
Hirohito, Emperor of Japan

Francis ran over the hill to a sight of a figure in black hunched over, he approached with caution. The harsh winds in the east were nearly knocking him off his feet into the wet swampy earth. He finally got close enough to see what the figure was" Albi what are you doing!?", she jumped up " Jesus, what the hell, Francis are you doing here you're supposed to be over in the north side." she was picking at a dead bandit with surgical tools, "I got lost and ended up here" she got up from a crouch wiping mud off her knee pads, "yell to me or use the damn radio"

"Uh, what were you doing to that corpse?" he asked," I wanted to see if there was any noticeable differences between easterns and the rest of us. I've found nothing so far so i'm assuming its just psychological." she explained. "You only went into the chest cavity why are you so certain?"

"I'm not certain I just have a feeling, it's aight though because I just found him, warm, but at least I didn't waste anything" she answered his question,
"Warm, he was just killed here the guys could still be here" he wasn't worried just concerned, Behind them a shot went off, several more went off after that their other squad member said into the radio "Shit! The wolves are vicious over here". Francis just yelled into the radio, "there are easterns here why would you shoot anything, You just got us in a ton of trouble now" they ran towards the location of the legionary on the radio all while tripping over large overgrown roots and plants. They got to his position and no bandits showed up nothing was their except wolf carcasses and an Addafasin assault helm in the grass, "Where is he?" Francis asked out of breath "I have no clue! crap, there's noting but dense forest around here" she said with a clear worried tone" no trail no disturbed grass, anything".

Francis turned back to see her putting a leg into a pouch of hers, Albi stood up and gave him the finger.

It became dark and the whole park became active with blood curdling yelps and screams from the creatures living there, the rain contaminated with fallout made it necessary for them to find a building to take shelter in. Inside the warehouse they went into all they could hear was the heavy rain for hours. Albi fell asleep with Francis staying up mainly for the fear of an animal coming in. The wind started to kick in blowing as hard as the gods would allow, uprooting trees and waking the asleep Albi, "What is going on" Francis motioned silence"shh, be quiet for a second" there were faint footsteps but the wind made it impossible tell from what. A human? A wolf? The footsteps got to the doorway. A dog, not a wolf

A disgusting loud howl roared though the park and more sounds rang through the park. The ground beneath them rumbled. The sounds of hooves pounding on the wet muddy dirt came closer and closer, Albi turned on the flashlight as a herd of deer ran fast past them, what followed the herd stopped dead at the flash of light coming through the cracks in the door. The beast forgot of its prey to reach into the windows, after many failed attempts to swipe at them it rammed itself against the wall cracking it slightly. their fire went out.

Albi's eyes shot open, very very slight footsteps. Not the stampede of running deer. Although very faint they roared into her ears. whispers. Daoan. The footsteps got closer. one came up and kicked her. To him she was dead unknowingly they walked through the warehouse. she couldn't see anything after a while

The sun finally rose and the rain had stopped, The park was back to how it was just the day before, neither of them got any sleep. They traversed the park in the direction they think they started. The ground was still soaked and nearly impossible for them to walk on but they did although jumpy and on edge. Francis reported in. " The Cheweilang are approaching the eastern border, they have been spotted as close as Chickasaw Park, Tennessee." Eastern Legates have now declared immediate action on the Cheweinese military action.

Quecium parliamentary building
Regio Sanctorum, Addafas
October 15, 2057

It is not odd for the parliament to be summoned for a "critical meeting" but never before by two widely different groups for the same reason. The topic at hand? all they said to me was "Addafas." Not even the Empress knows what this meeting is about. With such a vague topic I'm worried what will happen.

Why of course Addafasian heath and medicine agency and the military are the two groups showing up to the meeting, oh how this combination could end. Centurion Alid was absent from the building which is strange for a military proposal but I suspect hes just overworked right now with the err... project. Jylius gave us around her a scared looked. I think shes paranoid of something. none the less the whole meeting went better than I thought. Addafas now wants the rest of North America, the main point they brought up is over population and strength in times of war that with the amount of land that we have within our borders being uninhabitable will cause major issues in the next ten years. I'm favor of it, Addafas could be the largest nation in the world with so many different regions its kind of giddish to me.

The islands of Hawaii would in turn be tak- claimed. Jylius Is also on Board. The population could increase by as much as three hundred million in 20 years. It not official but god damn the 53 people in this room want it but for a move of this magnitude we'll need the approval of the seven provinces.

That wasn't the only thing The council talked about. C.E.D.S, the Newest of the long line of satellites, was set up. The branches also received budget increases.

THE CHEWÉILANG CAPITOL BUILDING
Shoadon, Cheweilang
October 16, 2057

Being the leader of anything is stressful. That stress multiplies when the two other superpowers are talking together, and when your only other partner is gone, that stress is multiplied even more.

Once she passed the 3rd floor the Speaker of the elevator came on "Hello Ms. Petoli, Welcome to The capitol of Cheweilang, Shaodan. hope you enjoy your stay. You are twenty two floors away from your destination" The sudden voice blasting through the speakers stopped her heart. "Hello, POE, how are you?" she asked him sarcastically. the only response was the repeating loop of "you are ___ floors away from your destination"

The Elevator reached its destination at the 26th floor. She was there to meet with the leader of the Dragon kingdom to discuss matters of national security and international strife. A lady, no more than thirty, greeted the foreigner and directed her down into the correct room. the halls were decorated with extravagant ancient art lining the walls and carpet. They reached the room and opened the door and bid her farewell. The room was dark. Few dim lights grabbed her attention. A man walked in from behind and turned on the lights. "Excuse us." the man say said shaking her hand. "We thought you would be arriving later". We? whose we. Smiling she turned back to the void. Jylius was greeted by a large black node hang from the ceiling, it was staring into her face "what a pretty young woman. Please take a seat we have matters to attend to."

A chair was rolled up by the actual human. "POE?" she said while acting like a child on the chair. "you're in charge?, havent you guys figured this out.
"Only temporary, its been chaos lately. Now, What do you want"

she stopped moving and leaned towards it "I'm worried about things, we intercepted a message form Mars, shit's just hit the fan" keeping her words limited as to not let Poe know what they know.

This is a message from the Centurion of the militares to the General of The Cheweilang Armed forces

Discharge your troops within one week or they will be removed from the Addafasian territory, one hundred miles from the eastern body, by force. All researchers and scientists are permitted to stay and work, but all arms must be carried and used by Legion border patrol. Any remaining military personnel caught on the Continent will be shot to our national restricted areas laws currently in place and enforced by Legion legates. failure to discharge active soldiers will call for premature armed conflicts between the two nations and its allies.

Centurion Alid was standing at the end of the table with all 30 something legates sitting around, looking noticeable older then the last times he was seen by anyone other than the Empress. "Legates, I plead you all to go to parliament and the Empress and ask for the occupation of Sydney and London, East Stortlan. We need a better hold on Cheweilang and a port city to easily transport troops and materials to and from the Saints. Also this North American expansion must happen, I doubt that the population will explode to the point of an apocalypse but When Cheweilang starts the war, Redsun, also Storlan, will be forced into the war with the rest of us." The Legates nodded whispering to one another, one spoke up, "Have you gotten a response from the General of Cheweilang?"

"No, It was only sent yesterday," he leaned forward, " I've been in direct contact with every Military official for years. I know Cheweilang they're neither strong nor weak, they're cowards, The strong wouldn't back down, The weak wouldn't start trouble because they know they are weak. Cheweilang will cause trouble, threaten war, and talk to their enemies secertly but when conflict comes they're back down. You And I both know That the future wont be entirely Addafas, Capile, Jaiwon, nor Cheweilang. but Addafas will be in the future." The legates stood up in the room, agreed unanimously and exited into the other room.

He whispered to himself. Capile is something else
He yelled back at the Legates. one by one they returned. "one more thing men, be prepared for an invasion from any side, and don't underestimate these people"

War will break out, millions will die, miles of rich land will be charred but at the end of it, those who shot at each other will stand side by side forgetting about the fact that they tried to killed each other and rebuild faith and hope for the future on mankind.

CAIRO
EGYPT, FERDAIR
OCTOBER 21, 2157

A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.
George Patton

Blood is the currency of war, Robert thought. How much blood a general was willing to spend decided the outcomes of battles. In this case, Robert observed, watching as another line of Ferdairi soldiers were mowed down by Capilean machine guns, the enemy was willing to give a lot of blood. It wouldn't matter, though. Capile was destined to win against Ferdair; all the blood in the world couldn't save them now.

Robert finished reloading his Karling 9k assault rifle and looked about himself. The city of Cairo was in ruins. Every building above two stories had been completely leveled from the bombing runs, leaving only smoking, burnt-out skeleton houses. Crashed cars, flaming debris, and mutilated corpses, some of them still moving or screaming, littered every street. High Command had given Reichsmarschall Walther Nemetz a week to capture Cairo, and by God, he was going to do it in five days just to spite them.

Robert launched himself over the bench he'd been crouching behind and sprinted across the street, ducking as bullets whizzed past him. He skidded to a halt behind a crumbling stone column, and peering out from behind it, let loose a spray of bullets at his attackers. He gleefully watched a young Ferdairi conscript crumple to the ground with a piece of lead between his eyes before ducking back behind cover. Just in time, he thought, as more bullets flew through the air he'd occupied just seconds before.

Robert started at a hair-raising mechanical scream that emitted from across the street. He knew that noise all too well. Glancing out from behind the column, the Capilean grinned at the sight of a Waffenrüstung Mk. III-A warframe emerging on the main road. The Ferdairi soldiers were already scrambling away, but it was too late. That spine-tingling noise had been the machine's GAU-22 heavy machine gun revving up.

With an earsplitting boom, the warframe opened up. It had a clear field of fire down the main road, directly into the backs of thirty or so fleeing enemies. Each and every one of the conscripts fell like wheat before the leaden scythe that swept the road. A cheer went up from the Capilean soldiers, and emerging from their hiding spots, the platoon continued its advance through Ferdair's capital city.

Yes, blood was the currency of war, Private Robert Bruhe thought. And Ferdair was about to be bled dry.

LENINSKY
NOVOSIBIRSK, JAIWON
OCTOBER 21, 2057

A frost had developed over Takai's coat. Despite being a warmer region of Jaiwon, Novosibirsk was still cold. Takai lay motionless in the snow, buried with only the barrel of her gun showing to the outside world. She was a member of the Jaiwonese invasion force, as border control was tightened and re-manned by TCF agents. After the Jaiwonese border residents were forced out of where they were by TCF, the order was given to start the invasion. Invasion code Infiltrate Eradicate Settle was activated, with the first step of the code initiating immediately. Massive drone strikes, followed by storm-trooper tactics were nearly unstoppable, especially for the disorganized Jaiwonese. Leninsky, however, was a fortress of its own. A local warlord had organized the local citizens into an armed militia. This was not a major problem, just a bump in the road. The drone strike was called off to utilize the opportunity to extract weapons and vehicles from the fortress.

The force Takai was in had recently come under fire, and they were now holding in place until further orders. She tried to peek over to her left, trying to minimize her movements. She was met with a sharp glare from an officer nearby.

Soon came the greenlight to advance. Her and the others promptly shuffled out of their beds of snow, and sprinted to the nearest house, busting the door in and clearing it of any instances of resistance. There was not one living soul inside. It was two stories, and offered a perfect vantage point onto the makeshift fortress. Her small group was to hold here for about an hour more before an ADU would be deployed.

Takai was apprehensive but excited to see the ADU in action. They were still rare even though they had nearly 8 years in excistence. It was considered an honor to be in the prescence of one, as they are the best of the best of the PDU.

Minutes passed, then hours, before the LDCD radio turned on, followed by the slight hum of a plane in the distance. The flare was thrown by another squad nearby, and was promptly followed with a large boom from the sky. Takai shifted to get as good as a view as she could without exposing herself too much. Her unit leader held her back.

A loud, long screech sounded from all around them, and a rippling cracking silenced the screaming. A large metal pod crashed to the floor, only cushioned by it's propulsion systems and the snow layered around it that met it's landing. The silence that it sat in was only broken by Jaiwonese yelling and a large beep as the large metal door shot off and lodged itself in the snow. Takai's squad was mobilized and she watched as a metallic chassis, nearly 7 feet tall, slowly but steadily walked out of it's pod, armed with a massive minigun, which it promptly used to start shredding through the Jaiwonese walls and men.

It barked metallic commands to even the officers of the PDC, as being an ADU it automatically outranked all but lieutenants and up in combat. The giant hull was more than enough cover for a soldier, and it would constantly position itself to shade it's fellow soldiers from gunfire.

After navigating around the fortress, the ADU found a place where it could use itself to hoist it's companions over the wall. Many PDC soldiers climbed up the hull and soon the fortress was theirs. The hostile resistance was shut down and most of them taken prisoners. The ADU was surrounded by admirerers and it opened its chassis door to reveal a high-cheekboned woman who smiled and complimented the strategies of them all.

Later during the night after the ADU left Takai was placed onto boundary patrol, and that gave her lots of time to think about what came next. Maybe Jaiwon would be the end. Thats what she was told, after all. Perhaps this invasion was just what the world needed to vent some anger. Perhaps.

"You must understand, general sir, sure, they have worked us up into a corner, but we can get out."
Poe towered over the rapidly sweating Han Jie.
"Perhaps we have moved too quickly... this operation will require more time to work. We have enough funds to maintain a military presence in secret, as long as our forces do not fail."
Jie wiped his brow and breathed deeply. He started. "So we will stay... in secret... and once tensions have released after the invasion of Jaiwon we will regroup and hit twice as strong!" His face had changed to one of determination now, as he looked across the room to an objective unknown.
Poe seemed content with this sudden inspiration. "Yes, and once the invasion commences we will activate the blockade in Koromindi and authorize Redsun to deploy their forces." The hanging machine swiftly rotated and extended its four small arms to start typing away at a computer. "We must take this at one step at a time, however. For now we must deal with this beast that is Addafas."

His message was complete, and sent to Addafas. It mislead them to believe that all was peaceful and that the soldiers had disobeyed orders and were to be punished promptly.

Now it was time to contact an ally.

POMPEY'S PILLAR
ALEXANDRIA, EGYPT
OCTOBER 22, 2157

I came, I saw, I conquered.
Julius Caeser

Alexandria had, for the most part, been spared the horrors of war. Unlike Cairo, which was now a smoldering pile of rubble underneath a Capilean flag, the city was still intact, its buildings still standing and its population unharmed. This was no mercy from the Capileans; it was only because the local authorities had so wisely surrendered before the city could come under attack. Pompey's Pillar, an immense monolith built in commemoration of Roman victory over Egypt, had been chosen as the place to ratify the terms of Ferdair's surrender. It was quite apt; once again a foreign conqueror was parading through the city's ancient streets.

Walther Nemetz watched proudly from beneath the pillar as his men marched past, goose-stepping in perfect formation, rifles held tautly and faces steely with victory. Between the tightly packed blocks of men were sleek tanks and tall warframes, whose lumbering engines were the only source of noise in the entire city. A somber collection of Alexandria's finest watched the procession, some with defeat in their eyes and others with defiance in their hearts. Walther had pacified countries more resilient than Ferdair in the past; it would be no challenge to bend them to Capile's will.

The last detachment of the 2. Stoßwehr Infantry Division "Kapilea" came to a halt in the shadow of the ancient column, and pivoted to face their commander. The Field Marshal cast a long glance at them before turning to look at the men behind him. A cluster of nervous-looking dignitaries, standing apart from the Capilean officers all about them because of their dark hair and tanned skin, was all that Nemetz had been able to muster of Ferdair's crumbling government. Flinching under Nemetz's icy gaze, their leader stepped forward and presented a document to his people.

"Countrymen," he managed, his voice shaky but becoming stronger, "I present to you the terms of our peace with Nova Capile. This is not a day of shame for Ferdair. It is a day of reclamation for Egypt!"

Nemetz stepped forward. "Countrymen, for now you are all my countrymen, this is not my victory. This is our victory!" he thundered. "It is not just a Capilean victory. It is everyone's victory! You have been unshackled from the dying beast that was Ferdair, and you are now free to join your Capilean brothers in triumph! There is a seat at the table of nations for every people that throws its lot in with us. The time has come for Egypt to make its choice. Selim Assaf, the esteemed politician and patriot who has long argued for the liberation of Egypt from Ferdair-" he gestured to the tall, swarthy man to his right- "has chosen well. He will become the Governor General of a new Egyptian nation, one which will stand by Capile as an equal." Nemetz built to a climax, his words frothing with national spirit. "Join us, and free your country from oppression. Join us, and bask in the glory of victory. Join us, and become masters of the world!" He paused for a few seconds. Ten paces to his right, five elite troopers in shining black body armor stepped forward. Each held a bound, high-ranking member of Ferdair's former government, who were shoved to their knees before their executioners.

"Refuse us," Nemetz erupted with volcanic energy, "and perish!" Five shots rang out.

Capilean News (Updated 16 November)
Where is the horse gone? Where the warrior?
Where is the treasure-giver? Where are the seats at the feast?
Where are the revels in the hall?
Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior!
Alas for the splendour of the prince!
How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it never were.

"Absolutely disappointing from all of you, one of our best Allies attacked by the Nazis and none of you even bothered to assist in any way?" Jylius said with anger in her eyes "the streets turned red, the trees, none of you. Explain yourselves of I will charge you all for treason against the nation. Alid. Your the minister for war and defense, please explain yourself first"

"Jylius! If we had anyway of knowing the fuck was going to happen we would have legionaries done there as soon as possible, The air force didn't receive any transmissions nor was there any early signs. I'm speaking for all legates and commanders here so don't dare target them. I have an entire 6 million army behind me."

"Are you threatening me? I suggest you don't and if this is true what you're saying and I believe you are telling the truth. I want plans for battles and strategies for Stortlan and Cheweilang."

Why, when this is your first invasion of a country that is slightly compitant in your nations history, would you waste expensises and risk your men dying in the campaign when you could use a WMD. Nuclear bombs have been banned since 2041 but they didn't ban WMDs all together.
From the skies up above the brits was one single bomber. three and a half kms in the sky a warhead, small compare to the warheads of old, was dropped out of that bomber.

Some time past and a blinding flash of orange took over the sky it lasted only half a second. just about a second later another flash dulled the sun. that was all. What? Was that the special new weapon that's never been done? two flashes? there wasn't any damage to the buildings down below.

Quite honestly the most frightening and loudest boom roared past the bomber.we spoke to soon, just after the sun exploded the galaxy exploded.
I should have not underestimated the guys at the air force. I'm sure Strotlan wont even try to fight back. Just what we want. Many ask why a world war hasn't broke out by now? Well, we. the big guys are picking on the little guys, too little to declare war, too little to be consider by the neighborhood bullies.
