Welcome to Kalosia!

Kalosia won the World Hit Festival for the second time since the 25th World Hit Festival. With 37 points, Corpus Calosum stormed their way to victory in Polumisec, Izmedu and gained their space in the WHF history books. RTVK [Radiu-Televižio Kalosia] were quick to announce their intentions hosting their fourth World Hit Festival, this time hosting in the city Corpus Calosum hails from; Altan.

What is the World Hit Festival?
The World Hit Fesitval (WHF) is a multiversal song competition. Each nation shall enter 1 song and 1 artist, and it shall be 'performed' via roleplay. Most nations tend to use a real life tune as a musical backing, but every entry submitted to the World Hit Festival is required to have original lyrics (ie. if you submit a tune, you must re-write the lyrics), so this does mean that instrumental entries are blocked from entering the contest.

WHF operates with three threads, the OOC, Draft, and IC threads. The one you are seeing now is the OOC/Sign-ups thread, the main place for you to discuss the contest, reveal your entrant, etc. All OOC chatter goes here. The Draft Thread, opened by the host, is the second thread opened up during a WHF contest, and this draft thread is where nations will post and work on their entries until a deadline determined by the host. The IC thread, also opened by the host is the third and final thread attached to a WHF, and it is where the host will transfer your entries.

The World Hit Festival has had a very long history in NationStates, and a thread by the second overseer (Euskirribakondara) has been created to compile this long history. It's a lot to take in, but as I've mentioned before, there are nations here that are willing to help. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask them on this thread or to TG any of us. Most importantly, enjoy your time here and enjoy the music.

Rules and Procedures

Contest
A nation is allowed to submit 2 puppets maximum to the contest, meaning that a user can be controlling at most 3 nations in the contest.
Nations must send a full ranking of all nations on the IC Thread to the host of the competition when the voting opens.
The nation ranked first will receive 5 points, the nation ranked second will receive 4 points etc. Nations ranked 6th or below will not receive any points.
Users are allowed to receive 8 points maximum from their puppets. Meaning, a user with three nations can use Nation B and C (with B and C giving 4 points each) to give Nation A 8 points total, but nothing more.
A nation is also expected to vote, but there is no penalty for not voting. The host will make up your votes in the event that they do not have your votes.
All or at least most of the written lyrics must be original. Should any user spot any concerns, don't hesitate to let the overseer or current host know.
In order for Semi Finals to be initiated, there must be enough nations for there to be 14 nations per Semi Final. The number of participants before Semi Finals are initiated will be dependent on circumstances.
In the unlikely event of there being 40 or more complete entries, the top 5 from last edition (including the host) will qualify automatically to the Grand Final.
The maximum amount of nations that can participate at any World Hit Festival is 47 (including the host).
Hosting
The winner of the competition will automatically be given the right to host the competition. The winner will have 72 hours (maximum) to announce their interest in hosting the Festival to the Overseer.
The host must not reveal their acceptance of hosting until the Overseer has announced it on the WHF Network.
If within the first 72 hours, the host either doesn't announce their interest of hosting the proceeding contest or declines hosting rights, the nation who came 2nd will be asked. If declined five times, the World Hit Overseer has to host the World Hit Festival.
If the host abandons their host duties, the World Hit Overseer will be responsible for what left needs to be done.
We would like to ensure all World Hit Festival hosts can host the competition to the best of their ability. If you have any concerns about hosting if given the opportunity to, don't hesitate to speak to the World Hit Overseer.

Changes to the World Hit Festival...

Participating Nations- There has been a small reform on how many nations can participate at the World Hit Festival/initiate a World Hit Festival Semi Final. In the past 30 nations needed to post on the Draft Thread before Semi Finals were initiated. From now on, there needs to be enough nations for 14 nations per Semi Final in order for the Semi Finals to be initiated. This means that if you include the hosts, 29 entries (completed) need to be posted on the Draft Thread before the Semi Finals are initiated. If the winner of the previous contest doesn't want to host, while they will go through to the Finals in the next edition (alongside the host), 30 entries (completed) need to be posted on the thread before Semi Finals are initiated. 47 entries (including the host) is the maximum number of entries that can participate in the World Hit Festival. There is also a new rule regarding automatic finalists which you can read here
Full Ranking- This rule is not necessarily new to the World Hit Festival actually. Already done at the 40th World Hit Festival in Izmedu and due to be done at the 5th Junior World Hit Festival in Togonistan, we are going to ask for a full ranking of each of the nations that participate in the full contest to hopefully avoid any World Hit Festival 26 situations happening again. I think it would also be a great addition to the Festival to see how highly each nation ranked an entry compared to all other entries. A nation coming 6th in everybody's ranking but finishing with 0 points doesn't mean it's the worst entry! If the somebody doesn't post a full ranking, that's ~~annoying~~ fine (similar to not sending a vote at all!), but their nation's vote will just be discredited if we ever go down to 6th tiebreaker. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them and don't let it stop you participating!
WHF Network- The Network will give you behind the scenes and exclusive content to the World Hit Festival. I would greatly appreciate it if the hosts under my "Overseership" would interact with the Network as they please. As a participant, you can post things like reviews, interviews/press conferences of your participants, plans for upcoming contests with your host broadcaster, a day in the life of... - anything you want! The Sign Up Thread should be more for the signing up of entries and other announcements whereas the Network will focus on the character development of the participants all in one website!
WHF Round-Up! - Where this page is, there will be a World Hit Festival Round-Up which will speak briefly about what happened during the last contest, including the full scoreboard of last edition and all necessarily links. I would hate for the recent winner or host to just get forgotten or the spotlight they deserve! Let's never forget them!

WHF 42 INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPATING DELEGATIONS

The 42nd World Hit Festival will be held in the Altan Arena in Altan, Kalosia. Altan is a town located in the Kalosian highlands. It overlooks Lake Altan. It is also the hometown of WHF41 winners Corpus Calosum.

Stage Pics

The parts that display the same graphics as the theme (basically the yellow sun and the pink-purple gradient) are LED screens. The purple lights on the dark background are LED lights but it does not make a screen. The stage itself does not have LED lights or screens but I won't stop you from bringing your own, or even a projection.
You can use the white pathway that circles the main stage, although performers are expected not to. You can definitely make use of the white pathway that leads to the satellite stage; that is the catwalk and performers who want to get from the main stage to the satellite stage or vice versa are expected to have to walk through it. On the left (your left) side is just the path to get on/off the stage, and to load/unload props. There is a staircase behind the catwalk, which is visible in some of the graphics but is mostly meant to be invisible. Your performer can get on the stage this way too.
There won't be an orchestra to cut costs, but you are free to perform instruments live and bring your own musicians. Pyrotechnics and smoke are available. Holograms are available. Digital effects are available. Pretty much all special effects typically available at Eurovision are provided here. Please do not RP stage invasions without the host (Kalosia)'s permission.
If you still have trouble imagining the stage, think of it as the Oslo 2010 stage but with mountain- and sun-shaped LED screens — this design was inspired by it, after all. No, there are no string lights like Oslo did.
