THE STORY

In the year 2135, Earth, and by extension its colony's in the solar system, fall due to massive climate change, resource shortages, and nuclear war. All seems to be at an end for humanity. For all intents and purposes, it appears that the reign of humans has come to a close. However, despite the collapse of our home world and our fledgling interplanetary empire, we as a species were saved by an enigmatic, powerful, and mysterious alien race. Calling themselves the Shvii Hegemony, the humans saved by them learned quickly that we were not alone in the galaxy. Far from it in fact, we were just one of many, most of which lived and worked under the Hegemony. The Shvii helped the rescued humans get back on their feet, proving them with the resources and technologies required for them to become an equal player in the Hegemony, just another addition to the mass of intelligent species who made it up.

However, as the newest and least experienced race to be uplifted, as well as for our violent history as a species, Humans were looked down upon. It didn't help that humans began to find their place in this new society as mercenary's and fighters, eventually becoming the go to when there was a morally ambiguous problem that had to be eliminated. Many other species began to view humans as simultaneously a threat to the galactic power structure and dirty bottom feeders, surviving by doing the dirty work for cash.

For 800 years this was the state of things, with the aliens we had met attempting to halt the rise in human influence, and humans taking it wherever they could. For saving our species however, the Shvii were treated as almost gods, and humans were as a result beholden to them in many ways. But that is not to say that there was no push back. A large portion of humanity resented the amount of Shvii influence in human affairs, believing that they were using us to fight there wars for them, and manipulating our way of life to their advantage.

Then one day, in the year 876 in the Post Terran Era, when a young student at a university discovered a book. It was paper, something that was more of a status symbol than the norm, and was clearly very old, which was just what he was looking for as he was studying old earth cultures. The book was Moby Dick, and inside was the handwritten message, "find the Pequod, find home," and a series of star coordinates. Believing that he was on the verge of a major find in the study of Old Earth, the young man tried to get a grant from his university to find what was on the other end of those coordinates, and when he couldn't get one, he organised an expedition of his own. But once they were there, they discovered that there was a lot more at play in those star coordinates and that cryptic message than there appeared to be.

This RP will follow that expedition, with the RPers taking on the roles of various scientists, mercenary's, pilots and so on who are duped into helping on this adventure. Eventually they will discover a series of conspiracy's and cover ups perpetrated by the Shvii concerning humanity, how we came to be, the location of Old Earth, and the true nature of why so much space has gone unexplored.

HELLO AND WELCOME

Hello, and welcome the The Stars Hold The Answers. This is a personal project Ive been working on for a few months now, and ive been really looking forward to trying it out as an RP. The basic premise is as the THE STORY section details. Humans have survived the end of the earth because we were saved by a seemingly friendly alien race called the Shvii, who help us get back on our feet and begin operating as a part of the interstellar community called the Shvii Hegemony, which as the name suggests, is a society where the Shvii reign on top and are treated as almost godlike by the races below them.

Humans in this new environment form a society that operates as a confederacy, with many separate Houses, Guilds, Corporations and Country's that make it up and have agreed to work together, but who all have a significant degree of autonomy from one another. In practice, it works similarly to the UN, but interstellar, and any faction of group of factions can choose to leave whenever they please. There are many different environs present in this society, and culture can shift greatly depending on where you are, from the greatly lawless and dangerous Outer Systems, to the bureaucratic and political Core Systems, and even beyond human space in other areas of the Hegemony. There is the Central Station, where member races gather to discuss affairs, trade and communicate, and the territory's, both claimed and unclaimed, of many other factions and species and governments.

The characters will be initially regulated to being just scientists, navigators, and mercenary's hired for the initial expedition, but as the story progresses and more NPC characters and events are introduced, different character roles will be introduced for the players to have, depending on the NPC's and cultures we pass through.

So, sit back, relax, grab some snacks, and strap yourselves in for a wild ride of conspiracy, crime, adventure, and most importantly, the study of Old Earth Cultures.

Character App
(Do not alter the app, beyond removing things in parenthesis, please)
Name: Isra Daoud
Age: 27
Appearance: Image
Personality: Isra is bubbly and friendly, and both enjoys and is good with people. She has been called very charming, and is pleasant to be around. She is, however, a rather morally ambiguous person, who makes her living as a smuggler and thief. As a result, despite her friendly personality, she has no qualms about hurting others for her own gain.
Species/Race: Human
Occupation/Position to be filled: Isra is the captain of the Valen-Sky, the ship hired to transport the expedition.
Skills/Abilities: Skills: Isra is quick witted, intelligent, savvy and an excellent people person.
Abilities: Isra is agile and quick, and a noted sweet talker. She is well versed in both business and law, and has a knack for finding things others cant. (She would make a good hufflepuff if it weren't for her morally dubious character.) As well as this, she is equally good at hiding things as she is at finding them, and is an excellent shot with a gun.
Equipment: Isra typically carries a Zyxel-9 Revolver, which she keeps under her cloak, along with other items for sale. She also owns a Karigan & Scott 12 gauge, which she keeps in her cabin and has named "Hell Raiser." As noted, when she is not on the ship she also likes to wear a long cloak.
History: Isra was born on a small colony world in the outer systems of the Human Confederacy, far enough away from the Confederacy's core systems to be relatively left alone by bureaucracy, but close enough to military centers to be safe from pirates and bandits. Isra was an accidental child, her parents having had her when they were both 16. As a result, she was raised simultaneously by her grandmother and her parents interchangeably, and over time became more and more aware of the growing rift between her parents and her grandmother, who wished Isra's parents would pay more attention to their Moroccan heritage and follow Moroccan customs. Her parents on the other hand viewed ancient cultures as irrelevant to their lives in a space faring society, and preferred to look to the stars, where they hoped to one day own a ship and make their living as merchants. This conflict came to a head when Isra was 7, and her parents both signed on to work on a freighter in exchange for a share in it. They asked Isra if she wanted to come with them, but her grandmother instead made an effort to convince Isra to stay with her. In the end, she chose to go with her parents and see the galaxy, and together they set off for the stars. On this ship, she learned all the ins and outs of being a spacer and a merchant. Soon, it became apparent to her as well that not everything the freighter was hauling was exactly legal, and she became adept at lying and ducking the law, especially as she got older and began to take on more responsibility in the business.

When Isra was 14, the captain of the freighter that she was raised on retired, and having earned a share of the ship in their first voyage, as well as being the longest employees on the ship, he gave the ship to Isra's parents. At the same time, Isra decided that she wanted to continue in her parents footsteps as an adult, and began saving money to buy a ship of her own one day. She worked hard, both in legitimate business and in slightly more extra legal ones, and even made a foray into boxing a few times. (She was only mediocre. She was agile enough for the sport, but the vast majority of the time she would be knocked out in only a few good hits from her opponent.) By the time she was 18, she had saved enough money to buy a small, personal craft, and began running around the outer systems of the Terran Confederacy, where she continued on in much the same tradition, buying and selling anything that would turn a profit, legal or no. Over time, she began drifting closer and closet to Central Station, and eventually found herself on the station itself. Deciding that there was money to be made on the station, she decided to stay. She saved her money, and bought a dock for her ship, where she continued to stay for the next year, before her 24th birthday, when she went on to rent an apartment on the station.

She stayed for another 2 years, until a series of bad business decisions, both legal and extra legal, forced her to leave the station to avoid the debt collectors. She spent much of the rest of the year smuggling guns for a group of pirates, which earned her enough money to start heading closer to the core planets, where one could make much more money transporting and selling for the Houses and corporations who wanted to keep certain activities on the down low. She drifted closer and closer, and started taking on passengers as well, until she made it to the New Prague system, where she met and agreed to transport an archaeological expedition for a man named Valentin Petrov.
RP Sample: OP. Sorry, Im lazy.

EXTRA'S
(These are not required for you to fill out, but are things that I like to think about for my characters because I feel it helps me flesh them out.)
Worst Thing Ever Done: Isra for a time imported and sold guns and drugs to any who would buy them on Central Station. She has sold weapons and narcotics to people as varied as full grown adults looking to kill other adults, to kids who wanted to be cool. It doesn't matter to Isra, as long as she gets payed.
Best Thing Ever Done: Isra once, during the interim year from fleeing Central Station and taking the contract to transport Valentin's expedition, bought a woman and her child who had been taken as slaves by a group of pirates. She dropped them at the nearest colony, and left them to their own devices after that.
What Do They Care About: Isra cares about her ship, freedom, seeing the galaxy, and above all else, she cares about herself. However, there is one other person she cares about, who she hasnt seen in a long time, and who is none of your concern.
Greatest Fear: Isra is terrified of becoming trapped in something. She always tries to have a way out, and makes it a point to never connect herself to any existing organisation or faction outside of a business contract. If she is legally or morally bound to something, she wont take part.
A Dark Secret They Have: When Isra was 16, she fell in love with a young man who was working on the same ship as her and her family. She keeps it secret because she feels it contrasts with the image of her being a sly and dangerous smuggler, and also because, while she hates to admit it even to herself, she still cares deeply about him and worries people would hurt him to get at her if they knew.

Character App
(Do not alter the app, beyond removing things in parenthesis, please)
Name: Valentin Petrov
Age: 28
Appearance: Image
Personality: Valentin is intellegent, though haughty and believes strongly in an emphasis on etiquette. In his view, the actions of his spacer comrades is base and trashy. However, he has a strong moral compass and believes that all humans are equal, even if some are not as classy and proper as others.
Species/Race: Human
Occupation/Position to be filled: Valentin is a student of Old Earth Cultures at the prestigious Whisthall University, and is the person responsible for organizing the expedition. He is as a result the resident Old Earth expert.
Skills/Abilities: Skills: Valentin is well read, suave, thoughrough and understands the ettiquitte of high society.
Abilities: Valentin is intelligent, a strong reader, a hard worker, and is able to see the big picture.
Equipment: The copy of Moby Dick with the inscription and star coordinates, A pin marking him as a member of House Pavel, a nickel plated Worth & Knight .357 revolver, inscribed with an image of feathers, many coats, shirts, pants and shoes, all of which are expensive and beautiful.
History: Valentin Pavel is the first son of Sir Konstantin Pavel III, Lord of the Reach, CEO of Pavel & Scott Mining Incorporated. Who his mother is is a mystery, but many believe she was a maid in the household, and was sent away after his birth to protect the family name. His father has always claimed that he was a full member of the house, and due to his power in New Start System, as well as his control of the Reach with all its minerals and precious metals, none have dared to defy that order. Nonetheless, Valentins father has always been distant to his eldest son, and has shown much more affection to Valentin's younger sisters, Svetlana and Zlata. He was educated in a series of private schools around the System, and to try and cover for his feelings of abandonment Valentin threw himself headlong into his studies.

Vlentin was a good student, and did well in school. His teachers loved him, and he was always popular, though many said that it was because they wanted access to his family's clout and were simply trying to gain favors. Because of his uncertainty in his friends, Valentin became increasingly bitter and frustrated, and started to look more and more inward for his satisfaction. Though he tried to convince himself otherwise, he was becoming increasingly lonely, and started to lash out at the world. After a series of fights, he was nearly thrown out of his school, and in response his father took him out of school himself and had him tutored at the family's home. He continued to be successful academically there, and began to connect with his sisters, but his relationship with his father remained distant to practically nonexistent.

When Valentin turned 18, he applied and was accepted into the prestigious Whisthall University, where people from all over the Hegemony gathered to learn and study together in peace. Valentin arrived, and in his second year there began studying Old Earth Cultures. It was a small part of the greater Archaeology Department, and was not exceptionally well respected by many outside of the human student body. Valentin's father was particularly upset about his choice, feeling that such an unremarkable part degree would not reflect well on the Pavel household, which had earned its respect through both business and war. He threatened to cut funding for Valentins schooling, and in response Valentin began using his newly accessible trust to continue work at Whisthall. While studying, Valentin was taken under the wing of a Professor Peng, who was also from a powerful family within the Confederacy. Peng became a mentor to Valentin, and encouraged him to pursue his passions.

While in his second to last year and studying for his doctorate, Valentin journed into the librarys to read up on Old Earth Literatuyre for a paper he was writing, and discovered a paper copy of Moby Dick. Considering that most things were stored digitally, and possessing paper books was a status symbol rather than for any practical reasons, he was intrigued and took it down to flip through it. It was clearly very old, though well preserved, and on the inside cover the words "Find the Pequod, find your way home" was written, along with the star coordinates, 1121365.34435.88777568. Feeling that he was on the brink of discovery, Valentin brought it to Professor Peng, who told him that he had never seen either the quote or the star coordinates. Peng told him to look into it.

Valentin, intrigued by the mystery, began reading all he could about Moby Dick, Hermin Melville, and looking for the quote anywhere he could. Eventually, having run through all of the possible sources he could think of, Valentin decided to try and get a grant to lead an expedition. He brought his discovery to the Board of Expeditionary's, and asked for a grant. They refused however, stating that his claims were based on little to no grounds, and that the University could not fund an expedition based on what they believed to be trivial Human culture that would have no effect on the Hegemony's society as a whole.

And so, using the same tactics he had as when his father cut off funding, Valentin simply dipped into his trust again. After asking around, he found his way to a woman named Isra who owned a ship and agreed to take him on his expedition. He set out to find anyone he could, mercenary's, historians, archaeologists and anyone else willing to help.
RP Sample: (Link to the specific post is preferred, but if you cant just writing an example for your character in this RP will be acceptable.)

EXTRA'S
(These are not required for you to fill out, but are things that I like to think about for my characters because I feel it helps me flesh them out.)
Worst Thing Ever Done: Valentin grew up rather isolated from his peers, and throughout much of his young life began lashing out at others to try and compensate. As a result, he was a noted bully, and took pleasure in putting others down and beating them up to try and make himself feel better.
Best Thing Ever Done: When Valentin got older, he began to come to terms with himself more. During his time at Whisthall University, he spent a good portion of his time championing Old Earth Cultures, as well as humans importance as a species.
What Do They Care About: Valentin cares deeply about learning, especially about Old Earth.
Greatest Fear: That he will be along forever, and die a bitter old man.
A Dark Secret They Have: None really.

Name:Dr. "Bass" Monroe (Full name is Sebastian Alexander Monroe)

History: Sebastian was born in the heart of Human confederacy space to his parents Robert and Jenna Monroe. Born into wealth and luxury afforded to only the most powerful and influential in human society could have did not soften the young man. His father being a military man instilled a strict aura of self discipline and honor that carries with him to this day. Being natural extremely intelligent and his parents extreme wealth Bass attended the best schools then universities in confederacy space. It was in his young formative years that Bass became fascinated with humanity's past and cultures, writing his first college thesis on what he saw as a common human culture for the species to rally around and the inherent weakness of the de-centralized state of humanity's government.

When Bass was 22 and fully graduated from his university he enrolled in the preserve Humanity project, a large interstellar collection of human intellectuals, historians and archaeologists dedicated to preserving human culture threw out human space. It was working threw this organization that Dr. Monroe's name started to become respected in certain circles of human society as a protector of pan-human culture. During this period of time Bass started to realize he needed to defend himself as the occasional archaeological dig did fall prey to smugglers and thieves. Almost being killed on several occasions until he was able to convince his parents to pressure their friends in the confederacy to provide security to the P.H.P. It was after another brush with death his parents demanded he return home and fallow in their footsteps into the world of politics.

Bass when freelance after his fallout with his parents and has only recently re-connected with them, writing letters at least once a month, tho they have not given up on their quest to get him to come home and join the family dynasty. If bass was honest with himself he's admit that he was close to doing what they said after all his plan was always a life of politics like his parents he was charismatic and seemed to go against the grain of stereotypical human behavior. But he had a lead that supported a theory he had as a grad student as a history major, a man named Valentin Petrov found potential evinced of earth. A almost child like fascination leads Dr. Monroe to join the expedition to see if MR. Petrov's evidence has anything to it.

Going to go with Theanor again, if that's alright.
Species App
Name: Quihansu
Appearance:
Image

Having evolved on a planet with an abnormally extensive cloud cover that exposed the native species to very little sunlight, the Quihansu developed pale skin, with grey hair and piercing silver eyes. They also have small, bony ridges on their forehead and pointed ears which contribute to their sensitive hearing.
Government type: Ostensibly an elective absolute monarchy, though the Senate has gained considerable power over the past few generations and the increasing checks and balances they've been gaining has rendered the government closer to a constitutional monarchy.
Technology of Note: The Quihansu possess advanced cloaking technology
Information: The most notable feature of the Quihansu is their prodigious lifespan, it is not uncommon for members of the species to live for as long as 10,000 years. They are also quite strong, being roughly three times as strong as humans on average, as well as being quite agile and dexterous. Additionally, most Quihansu have some basic telepathic abilities, though they require physical contact to use. The most famous of these abilities is the merging of minds, which enables Quihansu to temporarily unite their consciousnesses or probe another's mind.

On the downside, the Quihansu have an exceptionally low chance of conception, such that over a millennia long marriage a couple will seldom be able to have more than three or four children. This has kept their species population relatively stable over their history, and is the main reason they've never attempted to colonize other worlds. Additionally, due to the conditions on Mol'Kiarda, the Quihansu have a low tolerance for bright light, and are highly vulnerable to radiation injury. They also possess sensitive hearing, which makes loud noises particularly disorienting.

The Quihansu are an ancient species native to the planet Mol'Kiarda, and the only sapient species to evolve in their solar system. A peculiar anomaly in their system's star blocked all scans of the system and effectively hid it from all exploration vessels, which allowed the Quihansu to evolve and develop with no interference from other species. This resulted in their developing at a much slower rate than many other species who were uplifted by more advanced civilizations, but it also meant they were entirely self-reliant for their technological and social advancement.

After settling their first civilizations, it wasn't long before nations began to form and war against each other. For thousands of years, Empires would rise and fall through wars, revolutions, plagues, and the usual causes while the Quihansu continued to advance their technologies and culture to better meet the threats they faced. Eventually technology advanced to the point where all surviving civilizations on the planet became embroiled in a final conflict known in their language as "Na Daer Aish" or "The Greatest of All Wars." The war dragged on for four decades and resulted in the deaths of nearly one-tenth of their entire population, but one civilization finally emerged victorious: the Elenath Empire.

Fortunately, the Elenath Empire was by far the most rational of the competing factions in the war, and upon annexing their former opposing civilizations, they sought unification rather than punishment, and began the "Saith Elenath" or Elenath Peace which lasted for some 30,000 years. The end of the war and the ensuing peace brought about a golden age for the Quihansu people, and great strides were made in technology, art, craftsmanship, and philosophy. Before long, the Quihansu began a space program which would culminate in their first FTL capable starship.

Ever cautious, the Quihansu vessel was equipped with a cloaking device to minimize risk of revealing their civilization to more advanced civilizations, and rather than make official first contact with an alien government, the crew met with a merchant who agreed to exchange data on numerous species for some of the perfectly-crafted Quihansu goods. The unique and beautifully crafted Quihansu goods would go on to become priceless treasures throughout the Galaxy, and the flawless jewelry in particular would go on to become status symbols for the wealthiest of the wealthy.

The now very wealthy merchant naturally wanted to continue getting supplied by the Quihansu, and so collected a great deal of data on hundreds of species and systems, as well as technological data, to exchange for more of their jewelry. In this way, the Quihansu were able to explore much of the Galaxy and greatly improve their technology without ever having to do much exploring themselves. When the merchant eventually died, the Quihansu continued their arrangement with his descendants, and over time the question of the Quihansu's existence became a popular mystery in many systems, and countless theories were made and debated as to who or what they might truly be, if they even existed at all.

A few decades ago, one man in particular, the Regent of the Urokrah Imperium, became particularly interested in the existence of the Quihansu, but not for any scholarly reasons. The Urokrahn Regent was determined to invade and conquer a neighboring enemy civilization, but his treasury was virtually empty so he needed some means to fund a major war. Having inherited a priceless Quihansu artifact upon his coronation, he learned of the great value of such Quihansu trinkets, and decided that finding and conquering the mysterious race would give him all the finances he'd need to carry out his war. It took his spies years to sift through the mountains of theories on the Quihansu and separate the facts from the many fictions, but eventually they managed to track down the merchant family the Quihansu dealt with. Capturing several members of the family, they tortured them for information on the Quihansu until they broke and revealed their centuries old deal with the species. Keeping the family members hostage, they forced the merchant family patriarch to sneak a tracking device into a datachip in his next trade with the species.

The device worked as intended, and after executing the entire merchant family so they couldn't reveal any information on the Quihansu to anyone else, the Urokrahn Regent ordered an expeditionary force to invade and conquer the system. The Regent had mistakenly assumed that the Quihansu would have little in the way of defenses, given their reliance on trade, and his force was expecting little resistance, but they arrived to find an extensive orbital defense system and entire fleet defending Mol'Kiarda; the Quihansu had been putting all the data they'd received to good use.

The Quihansu ships and weaponry were as flawlessly designed and constructed as their goods and jewelry, and the poorly built Urokrahn spacecraft stood little chance against them. Only a single corvette managed to survive and flee back to Urokrahn space to report on the expeditionary force's failure. Furious at the news, the Regent had the ship's Captain executed, and ordered half of his entire military to mass for an attack on the Quihansu. Thus, the Urokrahn War began in earnest.

Despite being heavily outnumbered, the Quihansu ships utilized their superior quality, cloaking devices, and more talented commanders to fight the Urokrahn fleet to a standstill, though the militant race's sheer numbers allowed them to land numerous troop transports on Mol'Kiarda's surface during the battle. The Urokrahns would learn the hard way that the Quihansu legions were no less effective or determined than its fleet, and the invaders sustained heavy losses in the brutal battles on the planet's surface. When news eventually broke out that much of the Urokrahn fleet was tied up fighting the Quihansu, the Urokrahn Imperium soon found itself beset by multiple foes, which left them unable to reinforce their troops attacking Mol'Kiarda. It wasn't long before the Quihansu realized this, and in a final great battle they drove the last of the Urokrahn forces from their system; though at great cost.

Having failed to conquer the Quihansu, and sustaining heavy losses in the process, the Urokrahn Imperium soon fell to its enemies, and the Regent was executed after being found guilty of a myriad of war crimes. Though after-action reports revealed they'd killed over 100 Urokrahns for each Quihansu lost in battle, hundreds of thousands of their people still died in the conflict, and it would take millennia to replace those losses. With their location now revealed to the Galaxy, the Quihansu knew they'd need allies if they were to have any hope of surviving another conflict with alien species in the future, and not long after the Urokrahn War came to a close, they decided to ally themselves with the Shvii Hegemony. Though there is still concern among some over the recent alliance, most of the Quihansu are hopeful that a bright future is on the horizon for their people...

Character App
Name: Theanor Jarak
Age: 2,957
Appearance:
Image

Personality: Theanor is a dedicated physician who cares greatly about his work and the patients under his care. Like most of his species he tends to be perfectionistic and is prone to strong emotions, though his time in the military and his personal losses did help him learn to somewhat dampen the latter.
Species/Race: Quihansu
Occupation/Position to be filled: Ship's Doctor
Skills/Abilities: Theanor is an exceptionally talented physician and surgeon, with extensive knowledge of the Anatomy and Physiology of hundreds of different species. He is also well trained in Quihansu martial arts and swordsmanship, has basic psionic abilities and can perform the Quihansu merging of minds, and is proficient in the use of energy weapons.
Equipment: Quihansu energy pistol, Quihansu energy blade, pictures of his family, medical scanner, surgical equipment, priceless Quihansu necklace which once belonged to his wife.
History: Theanor was born in Mol'Kiarda's capital city of Rahaen Taen to a mother who was a prominent physician, and a father who was a Legate in the military. Growing up, he learned a great deal from both parents as each tried to sway him towards their profession; his mother taught him the basics of medicine, while his father instructed him in the Quihansu martial arts and taught him how to shoot and use an energy blade. After completing his basic education in school and coming of age, he decided to follow in his mother's footsteps and attended the finest medical school on the planet (though he still continued studying martial arts with his father).

After graduating as valedictorian of his medical school class, he spent over a thousand years studying, researching, and practicing medicine in one of the finest hospitals in the capital. When the first data on different alien species arrived a few centuries ago, Theanor began to study the information on their Anatomy and Physiology, and became quite fascinated with it. During these studies, he began to work with a Xenobiologist named Tiadriel, whom he fell in love with and later married.

Life was going well for Theanor: a good job, a loving family, but everything changed when the Urokrah Imperium attacked. After the initial attack by the Urokrah's expeditionary force was repelled, Theanor was drafted into the military as a combat medic and after completing basic officer's training, was assigned to his father's Legion. In the brutal fights that were to come, his father's training would serve him well and helped save his life on multiple occasions. Unfortunately however, when the Urokrah launched a surprise attack on Rahaen Taen, all the skill in the world couldn't make him fast enough to get to his family's estate before Urokrahn soldiers arrived and murdered his wife, mother, and only sibling. With her dying breath, Theanor's wife told him she loved him and handed him back the necklace he gave her when he proposed to remember her by.

Outraged and forlorn, he butchered every Urokrahn soldier he could find until the Quihansu forces finally drove them out of the city. Countless others had lost family in the attack as well, and after burying their dead they all longed for vengeance. Fortunately, that vengeance would soon come in the Battle of the Alfirin Plains: the last and bloodiest battle of the war. Knowing at this point that the Urokrahns had been attacked by other enemies and could not be reinforced, the Quihansu committed all available forces to a final push into the enemy's main camp. Theanor's father led the battle from the frontlines, with Theanor fighting right beside him. The battle dragged on for hours as the Quihansu took their revenge on the Urokrahn forces and drove the last of their enemy off their world. Tragically, though the Legion won the battle, it lost its Legate as Theanor's father was shot dead by an enemy soldier after killing the Urokrahn General in single combat.

Though he tried every medical trick he knew, there was nothing Theanor could do to save his father and the last member of his family died on that battlefield. As the planet he once loved now only served to remind him of the people he lost, he decided to leave and when the Emperor and Senate made the decision to join the Shvii Hegemony, he set out wandering through the Galaxy. After spending some time rambling aimlessly, Theanor found himself in need of funds, and while looking for a job he found a position for a ship's doctor on a fascinating-sounding expedition which looked to be a good fit. He decided to apply for the job, and with his medical and military experience, Theanor was quickly selected for the position, where ever since he has been preparing himself for the coming voyage...

Character App

Name: Ascot Rider

Age: 16

Appearance:
Image

I noticed Rupduska posted an Anime Avatar, so I hope it's allowed here. If not, I can change the picture.

Personality: As a sixteen-year old who's spent most of his life training and fighting, Ascot tries to project the image of a young man smart and competent beyond his years, with knolwedge of Old Earth History and Culture that gives him a 'classier' style than most child soldiers. Though a fighter and killer, the boy has - or hopes he has - a kind heart underneath it all, and deep pain inside that he finds hard to hide. Nevertheless, the burden of trying to project a mask of competence, lethality, and a 'cultured' style makes Ascot more awkward or even at a loss when confronted with things outside his skillset. But deep inside is a well of resentment at how those with power mistreat those who don't have it, including himself, and this resentment will be hard to keep in once realized. And finally, there is a loyalty to those who show him friendship.

Species/Race: Human.

Occupation/Position to be filled: Mercenary and Psion; can double as Cabin Boy or Busboy if needed.

Skills/Abilities:

Skills:

- Guns.
- Bladed Melee Weapons such as Swords and Knives.
- Old Earth and Galactic History.
- Literature (Or at least the cliffs notes versions)
- Languages (unless translator implants exist)

Abilities:

- High Intellect.
- Average Strength.
- Above-Average Physical Endurance.
- Psionic Implants placed in his brain in Early Childhood which allow him a measure of telekentic abilities, but fail to give him telepathy or similar powers.

Equipment:

- Meta-material fabrics and ceramic plates underneath that can withstand energy weapons and small arms fire.
- Plasma Pistol.
- Railgun Assault Rifle.
- Meta-material blade.
- Flash-Bang Grenades.

History: Ascot's earliest memories were two loving parents smiling at him, followed by the sensation of hunger. More vivid were the men and women in white armor, some humans, some aliens, who came for him; he would later find out they were 'acquiring' test subjects. He remembered his parents shouting, as well as the sounds of hurried negotiation. Then he heard one of the men say:

"Your boy will never go hungry again," causing his parents to yield him up to the goons. The young Ascot had to admit it; it was the best way to convince his parents and him to submit quietly. He was six then.

It turned out that the boy had been sold to the Myriad Star Corporation, a joint Shivii-Human venture dedicated to reasearch on Psionics, specifically the creation of Human Psions. What happened next was a blur; injections, pain, and waking up to find that he can now move objects with his mind. Next was education with other children, education in a variety of subjects; math, science, history and literature. The intent was to create psionic mercenary bodyguards who can keep up with their 'masters' in intellectual gifts, so as not to insult their intelligence. For that was what the test subjects essentially were: Slaves who were trained to be good companions as well as fighters.

And fighting was their primary purpose, as Ascot found out at the age of thirteen, when he was judged to have sufficently developed his skills enough to kill other people. When sent for his first combat situation, the boy remembered going up against trained soldiers, and having to massacre both humans and aliens. It was sick, disgusting, and yet, thrilling at the same time. He would be sent again and again and again, even as his training continued. All the while, he was told that he would eventually free himself from the Corporation's 'indenture' if he managed to succeed in enough missions. He knew it was a lie; but there was no other hope.

Then this latest assignment, an assignment to find Earth, the Homeworld of Humanity, came. And with it, Ascot saw a chance to escape.

Character App

Name: Elias Therrion
Age: 67 (physical age 31)
Appearance:
Image

Personality: Gloomy and brooding, Eli has developed a strong sense of pessimism that goes hand-in-hand with his profession and life experience. Those that know him extremely well are aware of some black humor that can arise on occasion.
Species/Race: Human (modified)
Occupation/Position to be filled: Pilot/mechanic
Skills/Abilities: Innate piloting ability, especially in smaller craft, that has been honed by decades of warfare. Also possesses a thorough understanding of the inner workings of spacecraft, allowing him to moonlight as a mechanic. Has a good head for tactics in space combat.
Equipment: Carries a Lorrigen Mk. 8 needle pistol and several carbon steel knives. Wears a worn but serviceable travel outfit.

History:
Everyone knows that life in the Kundell Sector means war. For centuries, a plethora of houses have struggled for supremacy over eleven star systems, containing 47 inhabited planets and moons. Where someone is born determines which house they must serve unconditionally for life, with few rights or liberties underpinning their service.

Elias Therrion was born in the 809 on the storm-ridden planet of Sorillia, at the very center of the Kundell Sector. From birth, his father, a minor merchant, and mother, a pilot, raised him in the service of House Margedeon. Although his older brother Kyle followed their father and learned the intricacies of galactic trade, Elias was always more interested in what his mother did. He wanted to get behind the controls of a spacecraft and zoom off to explore the wonders of the universe.

As it would turn out, Eli would get to do that - but not in the fashion that he imagined. His parents took note of his prodigal ability piloting speeders and small atmospheric craft, and packed him off to Sorillian flight school at the age of 17. After two years of training, he became a full-fledged fighter pilot in the navy of House Margedeon.

And not a moment too soon. Within a few months of his graduation, House Margedeon went to war with its arch rival, House Vallas. The conflict was brutal from the very beginning, and Eli was thrust into the middle of it. Behind the controls of his dated but dependable Kozma-9 Lancer fighter, Eli soon distinguished himself as an ace, known for relentlessly going on the attack almost to the point of stupidity. He amassed 27 combat, or 'hot' kills through the first two engagements of the war.

But what began as a feud between the Margedeon and the Vallas soon escalated into a sector-wide war involving nearly all the great houses, each caught in the web of one of two complex alliances. Eraintine joined with Margedeon, Andorac with Vallas, while the Caladur opened up a complex war against both, while their resources were tied down in fighting one another.

The war dragged on for year after year. Tens of millions perished during lengthy sieges or sprawling space battles. Eli became one of the most recognizable heroes of the Margedeon cause, such that his comrades and enemies alike began referring to him as the 'Void Devil.'

Although Eli was witness to a great deal of death and suffering, that was not all he experienced during the war years. While on leave on the temperate moon of New Sidon, he met Bethany Mullen, who was stationed there as a militia officer. The two of them developed a friendship that soon turned into love. Even though duty separated them after several months, they vowed to return to one another.

The conflict would not end. An endless list of battles pervades the history of the Kundell War, but a few in particular were known for their loss of life and viciousness: Noah's Gap, New Leon, St. Morten, and Buenaventura. Eli Therrion fought at them all, in victory and defeat. His personal achievements were many-fold: foremost perhaps was his single-handed destruction of the battleship Noble during the Battle of New Leon.

The war was still on in 855, when the decisive engagement unfolded in orbit of the moon Keyres. Although it lasted for several days, it eventually ended in the total destruction of the Margedeon fleet. Bethany was killed, and Eli's fighter was shot down, forcing him to crash-land on the surface of wind-torn Keyres.

Eli willed the inhospitable winds to kill him, but they did not. The crash and its aftermath merely maimed him beyond recognition. Indeed, he would have died, left out there on the wastes, had not a traveling Shvii lord happened upon the wreckage.

The next thing Eli knew, he had woken up in a bed with a new face and a much younger body, literally reconstructed through painstaking surgery and organ regrowth. His Shvii savior revealed himself: he was Ul'Toss, and the price for Eli's life was that the veteran pilot must serve him for life.

This Eli did for a number of years, serving as pilot, courier and bodyguard for the Shvii, who, he soon discovered, was a prominent crime lord. After a decade of serving Ul'Toss' every whim, an impossibly jaded Eli grew tired of his master, stole a light freighter, and fled the Core Systems for the Outer Systems. There, he made ends meet as a small-time smuggler and speeder racer, until he heard about an expedition organized by a certain Valentin Petrov out of New Prague. In chasing the whimsical dreams of a university student, perhaps Elias will find a purpose again.

RP Sample: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=445172&hilit=Therron&start=175

EXTRA'S

Worst Thing Ever Done: During the Siege of St. Morten, Elias and his fighter squadron was ordered to shoot down fleeing transport ships full of civilians, on the suspicion that House Vallas might be smuggling special forces personnel and several generals aboard. Eli carried out these orders to the letter, shooting down each and every one. As many as two hundred thousand people might have been aboard.
Best Thing Ever Done: Towards the end of the war, House Margedeon instituted a policy of killing prisoners, based on the inability to provide for them with resources stretched extremely thin. Rather than see this fate befall hundreds of women and children who were family to Vallas soldiers, Eli used his clout as the best Margedeon pilot around to have them released.

When Bass was 22 and fully graduated from his university he enrolled in the preserve Humanity project, a large interstellar collection of human intellectuals, historians and archaeologists dedicated to preserving human culture threw out human space. However, I am going to ask that you increase his age, as I feel that 24 is too young for me to be able to believe all of his accomplishments at this stage in his life.

8 needle pistol.

Species App
Name: Quihansu
Appearance:

Name: Theanor Jarak
Age: 2,957
Appearance:

Age: 16

Appearance:

EXTRA'S

Worst Thing Ever Done: Well, does mass murder count, even if it's enemy mercs and soldiers?
Best Thing Ever Done: Socialize with the other child soldiers in his spare time.
What Do They Care About: Well, getting out of this situation.

A Dark Secret They Have: Repressed rage.
Them Song, Of Course: Nothing Yet.

Government type: Militaristic Republican Oligarchy
Technology of Note: Because of their previous state as a rather isolationist culture, mixed with their superiority in terms of intelligence and mindset, the Chiss are technologically quite ahead compared to other races, having many advanced and refined techs. Including faster engines, sleeker and deadlier blasters, etc.
Information: (Culture Summary: imagine if a Mandalorian, a Roman, Thrawn and a bit of Vulkan had a baby together, that's basically Chiss Culture)
-The Chiss are a progressive yet militaristic society, though they hide that part of their culture a bit better than the humans. The Chiss originated on the edges of known space, where some of the harshest conditions across the galaxy can be found. With raiders and pirates both outside and inside the boundaries of the known galaxy, to extreme weather conditions and terrains on the border planets they inhabited, the Chiss fought through and overcame many challenges throughout their long history. There they formed the Chiss Ascendancy: an oligarchic, militaristic and progressive intergalactic regime that holds the values of the people and the military close to heart. They have, as previously mentioned, a very progressive and militaristic culture, progressive to the point of having no gender or racial inequality, always willing to adapt and change, and militaristic to the point where every member of the species has not only a deep military tradition in their hearts, but has also had some sort of military training in the past, as required by the Ascendancy. And in Chiss Culture it is more the social norm to rely on logic rather than emotion (though emotion still is a major factor), allowing for decisions to be made without the interference of emotion and reliance on pure logic.

This allowed them to progress in technology faster than some other races as their ability to thrive in harsh conditions paired with their higher intellect and their willingness to learn unimpeded by something like religion because of their logic. By the time some races had just discovered light speed the Ascendancy was already travelling between worlds as a norm. When the Ascendancy was discovered by the Hegemony, the Chiss were, at first, also ridiculed like humanity because of their ways of thinking as well as extreme militarism. However, this was soon overshadowed by the Chiss's contribution to technology and society, as new inventions helped the Hegemony to become more advanced thanks to the Chiss, and the Chiss made reliable managers and security having a much lower chance at being corrupted compared to other species. However, not all was sunshine and rainbows, as many species started to try and not only impede Chiss influence, but also infiltrate it, some seeing the Chiss's lack of religion and scientific devotion as "heresy," others wanting to take over the Ascendancy from the inside to try and claim such technology. With this attempted "corruption" of the Ascendancy, the Chiss Tetrarchy Council (the four ruling joint rulers of the Ascendancy) created the Ascendancy Bureau of Security Intelligence (ABSI), an organisation formed to keep order and safety in the internal affairs of the Ascendancy. Perhaps most famous, yet secret, was one of the Bureau's security wings, Chimera, made up of elite agents and, if ever actually fully uncovered, could potentially be described as sharing the same role as the Einsatzgruppen or the Gestapo (though natural Chiss logic embedded in their heads allowed that the organisation not be impeded by racial bias). Soon, potential anarchists and revolutionaries disappeared overnight, many of them foreign peoples.

Upon the discovery of humanity, the Ascendancy and Chiss were some of the only ones not to ridicule them, seeing them as an interesting species that the Chiss shared several common traits with, including their mainly previous tension between other races. Now the Ascendancy will do as they have always done: progress, advance and ensure security, with a little new addition: the study of other civilisations that may or may not be threats.

The Chiss species themselves, though similar in appearance with humanity besides their red eyes and blue skin, are radically different from the human counterparts biologically. The Chiss had evolved from the harsh conditions of their homeworlds in many ways including: having naturally stronger muscle fibres, being able to run much faster, having a much higher natural stamina and larger energy reserves, as well as requiring less food to keep their bodies nourished, having a natural resistance to extreme weathers on both spectrums and more. This comes with a plethora if physical inside changes as well, such as larger lungs and hearts. In terms of mental power, they also are physically superior in that, having larger brains with naturally higher processing power. There's also the fact that in Chiss Culture it is more the social norm to rely on logic rather than emotion (though emotion still is a major factor).

ACCEPTED. Though I would caution you to make sure that the Ascendancy isn't too powerful, as much of the conflict in this RP is based around Shvii dominance of the know galaxy.
