The Year is 1881, As the industrial age carries on, the nations of Europe gather together for a meeting that would change history forever.
In this RP, you will be playing as a nation during the scramble for Africa, you can either be either an African Tribe/Nation or a Foreign Colonizer.

This is part one of four part thread, going from 1881 to 1964. So the claims you make in 1881 might not help out but by 1941 it may pay off!

Rules

Actions are done through rp and actions involving other players require their consent.

Everytime you RP your are doing an Action, you are allowed to do 3 actions a day per individual posts.

War must be somewhat realistic. [ Don't expect a Spear to take down a tank...]

As to other territorial claims, india, oceania, parts of antarctica, central america, and malaysia are all part of the british empire, therefore parts of my country, and I would like to request that nobody claims these countries to RP as without asking me first

Nation Name: the Free Cape Territories

Real Life Country(Location): Around what is now modern-day Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa. The green area (and outrageous cluster of blue) in the maps to your right.
Economic System: Constitutionally-enshrined capitalism, mostly of the free-market variety.
Ideology: As of 1881, a social-conservative majority, although not as outright authoritarian as the Holy British Empire.
Form of Government: A democratically-elected Council of thirteen councillors. They are not called "Free Cape Territories" for nothing.
Population: approximately 25,000
Military Power: In theory, a couple of hundred highly-trained officers; in practice, a couple of thousand armed citizens.
Size of Economy: Approximately £192/10/- (or, in 2017 terms, ~£22,250) per capita, or £4,812,500/-/- (as of 2017: £556,250,000) in total. That said, the top 1% of the population hold one-sixth of the wealth, and a good 6% are deemed to be impoverished.
Economic Stability: In theory, the nation has enough money to keep it going; in practice, the Territories are dependent upon agricultural etc. imports from the Cape Colony itself, and many wealthy Territorials have benefitted from exactly that.

Well I've already worked out some deals with Tinhampton for some of my african territorial holdings, and so it's unlikely the empire would be willing to give any more up.

Having some sort of territorial dispute and the whole thing turning into a vietnam-like affair that overshadows our northward expansion and having you as a sort of resistance group would be kinda fun, if you're down
