A u d i wrote:Apparently, the Zambians suddenly despise the Chinese over "corruption and opposition", according to the Economic Times. Zambian public debt is supposedly around $10.6 billion. The Zambian Prime Minister, Edgar Lungu, has hit right back out at critics over this.
"I implore you to ignore the misleading headlines that seek to malign our relationship with China by mischaracterising our economic cooperation to mean colonialism." Lungu recently told the world. The leader of this, James Lukaku, says this: "I want to bring the attention of the international community the Chinese influence and corruption in Zambia.
I'm curious to know, NS, what is your opinion on the situation?

You laugh but this is a powerful mindset in Africa

I remember Malians calling me a colonizer while I built a dig a well. It’s far better in the eyes of many Africans to suffer under rule of their own people than to prosper under the rule of another. And they are very wary of how quickly that rule can come

Obviously they're looking at things wrong. Investment is not "falling under the rule of others", it is literally their only way to not be impoverished and starving.
