The Fall of Quintipoli

The short lived Republic of Quintipoli, often overshadowed by its dominant neighbour to the north, is finally beginning to suffer from the damages of internal struggles and international military pressures, namely from the Soviet Union.
Once a major player in the Middle East, the oil rich nation played a vital role in the downfall of Supreme Leader Sadat’s Turkish regime, and brought stability and prosperity to the Caucasus. However, the end times are expected to come for this nation, and the events over the near future are likely to bring it to a fateful demise, and return the cultured region back into he odious grip of the Soviet military machine.

This thread is only for use of Imperial Fatherland Role Play. If any nations of Imperial Fatherland wish to post here regarding Quintipolis’ collapse, they must pass their post by the Culture Secretaries before posting.

Tensions rise in Quintipoli

First Secretary supports courageous revolutionary comrades in Astrakhan

Recently, in the German satellite of Quintipoli, several brave Communist groups rose against the oppresive government, forming their own government in Astrakhans. Our Comrades had been unhappy since its imperialist dismemberment from the motherland, after which Quintipoli's despotic regime had imprisoned several Communist political activists and rigged elections to take the power from the people. Discontent with this so-called "Federal Republic", these courageous proletarians took up arms and openly rebelled, forming the The Soviet Republic of Astrakhan.

First Secretary Anton Yaneznayu has been vocal about his support of the Revolution in Quintipoli, promising arms, protection and trade deals with the newly-founded state. Our Great Leader has sent several high-level Red Army and Spetsnaz officials to train the Astrakhan Soviet Republic as well as firearms and military vehicles to take full advantage of their training. Several hundreds of Soviet soldiers have also volunteered to help the Astrakhan regime, with hundreds more to surely follow.

    April 28th 1965

Nagorno-Karabakh, also known as Artsakh, is a small, mostly Etenan barrnen in the south of Quintipoli. Amidst the ongoing chaos, with the national government preoccupied with a possible Soviet annexation, pro-independence groups, namely the Artsakh First Movement, have taken advantage of the situation to gain support for their cause. The AFM have published a number of recruitment posters- it's hard to find shop windows not lined with them- and they seem to be doing the trick. AFM membership has increased by 15% over the last two weeks.

The population of the Barren is 95% Ethnic Etenan, so it easy to see why the movement is so popular. President of the Barren of Nagorno-Karabakh, Mleh Andodian, has condemned AFM and has advised citizens not to join or support them as they are - we quote - "Radical Extremists wanting us to be clung to an undemocratic monarchy which would see our towns burned", dispute having lived the first sixteen years of his life growing up in Yerevan, and being Etenan on his fathers side.

Varak Babolian, Chairman of the AFM, says that the aim of his movement is to either make Artsakh an independent state, free from Quintipolian rule, or for the barren to become a part of Etena proper. Babolian said "All of us in Artsakh remain close to our Etenan brothers, despite having been divided for nearly half a century and without self-determination for even longer." The Etenan government is yet to comment.
