"Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live." - Norman Cousins
The King has passed away. King Phillip I has passed away from some sort of unknown disease or concoction. His son and heir, Phillip II inherits the throne. Regarded as a wimpling and one that could easily be swayed. Phillip II has other goals however, and while the vassals tempt the king into being their puppet he seeks other things. Vengeance, upon those and things that took his father from him. We all should pray to Luaric and God to save his darkening soul.

As the banners raise high for the new monarch. The Kingdom of Fenbardy banners tatters and breaks. Brittle from their war with the Vudal Empire. In the North the Nors raises pillaging the Emperors shores. In the Far East the steppe people raid the Holy Entrusil Empire plundering more gold each year. South of Galeacia lies Asnya who the Isthar struggles to maintain their hold on the peninsula against pious Asnyan Rebels. The future is grim, and may end up leaving Galeacia with only a broken crown.

Welcome to Broken Crown. An RP about succession leading to political instability. This RP will cover the kingdom and residents of Galeacia. This sandbox RP will cover the beginning of a succession to the ultimate anarchy of constant political turmoil.

Image
Year is 604.

Recent Events of Galeacia
Well-informed commoners could know this sort

With the death of King Charles (564 - 602) if and no direct heir to claim the throne the crown is given to a nearby family branch of the dynasty giving the crown to a middle age man (36) named Phillip de Runate. Phillip was a pale and sickly man and dies fairly quickly ruling for only two years (602-604). Phillip II inherits the throne after his father leaving a rather young 18 year old to rule.

That's where everything comes in. His rule will be determined just or arbitrary during this RP, and it'd be up to you if for you want to revolt or stay loyal.

Long Term History of Galeacia
Might not be important unless your char is knowledgeable or well versed in history

When the Western Entrusil Empire fell into corruption and chaos in 300 GL; many Falanic tribes migrated over into the imperial borders and set up new homes. One such tribe the Galeic tribe started a kingdom in the mountain range, Stonehollow Mountains, and quickly expanded west and east. They formed a kingdom called Galeacia, and started the Gallic dynasty.

In 400 GL, they consolidated their power by inheriting the kingdom of Laglaria, and conquering the kingdom of Dethenia. Eventually taking over western Falan territory (Entrusil Empire), and forming current day Galeacia. King Alfred (484 - 564) was made King one of his first actions was working with the Church of Luaricism to clear the eastern pagans and their witchcraft ways.

In 500 GL, the kingdom was considered the super power of the western lands. It was until King Alfred died, and on his will ordered the kingdom to be split between his two sons, Charles and Fredrick. The two kingdoms become known as West and East Galeacia until East Galeacia changed its name to the Holy Entrusil Empire (or Entrusil Empire). Leaving western Galeacia to identify as simply Galeacia.
Luaricism History
Was formed by Luaric Lionsoar back in 7 BG. Luaric himself was a prophet proclaiming himself as a prophet. He was eaten by the lions in 0 BG for being a heretic in the Old Entrusil Empire. A small church which grew throughout the years grew in followers in the following years.

In 200 GL, the religion grew immensely during the civil war in the Old Entrusil Empire; even though the religion itself would result in death for those who dared follow. Emperor Laricstine I was the first emperor to make Luaricism the state religion of the empire. The empire splits itself in the near end of the century to prevent the empire from falling. A schism also occurs making two different churches, Lutholicism and Orthodox Luaricism.

In 300 GL, many tribal lords adopted the Lutholicism after conquering the Old Entrusil Empires borders. The Galeics were one of the first to adopt the faith currying favor with the Pope.

In 400 GL, a Inquisition was called and was used to force Falanic pagans and witches into submitting to Luaricist beliefs. The bloody inquisition was considered a success after forcing the conversion of the majority of Falans.

In 500 GL, the current Pope favors King Phillip II proclaiming him as the true emperor of the Entrusil Empire. With the popes backing came at a cost as Emperor Henry reintroduces witches back into society, and create a puppet "pope" in retaliation.

It could help make this RP way better than it is. Adding your own and interesting lore or ideas enriches the RP experience for everyone. It not only makes the world seem bigger, but also more involved. Maybe if it doesn't make a huge impact right away it can always be used in the future. Every idea has its own unique worth, and even if it doesn't match the time period it can be used for future plots.

Tedalonia’s Rule of Law
Now the rules, I know rules suck, but in the end of the day they keep RPs intact.

    1. OP’s rule is law. This is not a democracy, but instead a benevolent dictatorship.

    2. If the OP is missing from the RP for a good while the Co-OPs are the temporary “dictators” to prevent the RP from dying. They can even make the OP char move or act IF said char is withholding the plot.

    3. As far as magic is concerned it is rare or non-existent (for now). If you want to be a grand wizard then you have to be accepted by the OP alone. While Co-OPs can help accept applications I feel it'd be in everyone's best interest if I do the magic related chars myself.

    4. Inactivity is fine to me unless your withholding other people's time. As such we will deal with inactivity in various ways from simply assisting someone to get away from your inactivity “black hole” to removing your character. Don't worry a action like removing your character cannot taken lightly, thus only the OP can do it.

    5. Posts should be decently long unless your in a discussion with another char. Depending on length it might be advisable to coordinate one "mega" post to put on the IC by using a google doc.

    6. You can only have one char, however you can make an infinite amount of NPCs. These guys should have their own goals, but should ultimately spare you from being overrunned with chars. As such NPCs will never be feudal lords (due to the fact that most PCs will want land).

    7. Follow game mechanic rules unless your doing a duel. Duels can be decided via discussion with the two combating individuals unless they insist on using said mechanics.

    8.Have fun. Yes, that's a rule.

General Mechanics

Leader/Army Values -
Diplomacy: Allows your trained morale raising skills to play into effect. Diplomacy is affected by the morale of troops, peoples opinion of you depending on who their from (if you got peoples support they'll fight harder), and the inspiration you give them to fight on. This determined point value is decided before the battle starts, based upon the exploits and decisions you have made up unto this point. Ultimately the diplomacy skill represents the entire armies morale, where as the to classes morale, knight and peasant are individually decided based on their interest. Knights care about they're campaign meals and pay, while the peasants care for the prosperity and food. Low morale causes a route. Peasants will desert, but knights won’t unless the realms in a poor state, typically to run is to bring dishonor. Companies will desert if they see no money in continuing to fight.

Economics: The monthly cost of fielding a military is great, and rarely had professional military to bolster the strength of the nation. That being said there were however trained warriors, knights. These warriors were either paid in land or cash, depending on the region, to represent this you can grant land or pay them, granted you can only grant 12 fiefs per county. You can do multiple fiefs to knights to raise knights morale. After that you will have to pay. You must feed your military too.

Peasants are the limitless masses, but bringing them to war can cause a toll on the economy. Every thousand peasants you bring out hurts your prosperity by one. A permanent damage to the land scar the land. These masses however you don't have to pay, but they still need to be feed. You'll come across casualties, Casualties will remain hurt or dead even after the war. While untrained they do have familiarity to the regions they live in and their environment, making them have regional training to the environment their used to. So if we got mountain dwellers, they are trained to live and survive in the mountains naturally. Navy training is received by those who live on the coast, which the populace has at least some experience on the sea.

Companies are bands of about 20 - 1,000 men who look for pay among lords and merchants. They're only loyalty lies with gold and profits, and will likely backstab you if they see profit in it. Since they aren't your vassals like knights they are harder to control, and some will raid the regions they are attacking, dropping the prosperity of the region regardless whether you told them to or not. If you decide to hire mercs, keep in mind your prestige and fame would be a risk. To represent a decent number of troops the basic cost will be .10 geld for every 10 troops. Although Player costs can vary.

Combat: Every leader should fight, if he wants to inspire his mean. Train, fight, or get better gear to raise this point value. It is decided during the beginning of the battle like diplomacy. Better fighters, are not only more likely to no die fighting, but also raise diplomacy for not staying in the sidelines. It also (should) get the respect of the peers. It should be noted that this also applies to small combats to (1v1) and would be the leading point value to determine victory on small scales. And how you use combat is up to you. You can join the men in the fight, but within the masses of men makes it harder to control your troops and tactics. Making tactical maneuvers near impossible.

Troop Power - The strength of troops rely on their individual power. Their inherit strength is based off of a levy infantries strength. So if a levy is one a professional would be logically higher.

Levy Infantry: 1
Professional Infantry: 3
Knight: 4

Troop Types -
Levy Infantry: Can be what you decide, your equipping the peasant weaponry afterall.
Professional Infantry: You have to higher these chaps, which means you won't equip them. Spears, swords, and bows, their equipment is decided upon when you purchase them.
Knights: The men who fight for honor and glory. They have their own equipment sure, but they always have their trusty steeds, and blades.

Terrain bonuses (for defenders only) -
Plains: 0
Desert: 1
Forest: 2
Mountain: 3
Sea: -5

Knight Wages (Per knight) (monthly costs) - A knight deserves a decent wage, while you can pay them, however you like this is a rough idea of how much affects them in a “basic wage” format. What's to low and what’s considered to high.
Land: 0 knight morale on first fief, but +1 for each additional.
Low Wage: .10 geld
Basic Wage: .20 geld
Decent Wage: .40 geld

Prosperity
The measurement of how effective your county is being runned. Unless your a unique County typically you'll have 1 prosperous and the rest average. Every prosperity equates to one geld, and you can't store geld due since it be a pain to keep track of. Its really a representation of the state of your realm too.

Rich - produces 5 points
Prosperous - produces 4 points
Average - produces 3 points
Undercultivated - produces 2 points
Poor - produces 1 point

Character Application and NPC Application

You can own land as a duke, vassal, etc or you can decide to play a mercenary leader it's up to you. Religion and culture is a notable issue, since if your not part of the Galeic culture or Lutholic religion you are liable of being oppressed by the ruling class.

You can also have unlimited NPCs, but they can't start with or obtain land unless a main character you have dies, which they can in turn become your main character to replace the old. The reason this is to prevent one chap having half the kingdom. You should also consider giving chars to other players. Like if "Jimmy the Raider" chose to move onto other lands to raid you can request for someone to use him for their story.

Any of you chaps you played the previous RP, are allowed to replay your nation and are reserved. Ofcourse those who don't come will end up as NPC's

His father although a bastard of King Alfred in the later years inherited the throne when the Emperor could claim the throne. Luckily vassals favored his father over the foreign Emperor leaving the de Runate line as king. A war might've broken out, but fortunately for Galeacia the Empire was facing a increase in raids. Unable to mount a war and claim their rightful throne the Emperor left the Runate line the throne.

Phillip II however lead a simple life during this time fawning over his love, ---. His father didn't take to kindly to Phillips fawning and quickly forced him to attend political meetings and administrative. This allowed Phillip to understand politics with ease as his father guided him through.

This wasn't to last however, and Phillips father died of an unknown cause. Many said he was poisoned to die of an illness, others say he simply died. County of Astua (16):

Appearance: He has a very round face with a red well trimmed goatee, sleek constantly combed red hair, and a very wide nose. Otherwise he is a bit pudgy and has feet that are a bit too big for his size.
Height and Weight: 5’9” 190 lbs.

Biography: Diter inherited the county at the young age of 14 when his father died from an infected wound, because of this he was mentored by the steward of King Phillip I, Lord Rowland, and his studies focused on relm management and stewardship rather than warfare. Diter still learned how to hold a sword, but never really mastered it, preferring to design his “perfect little realm” in the way he saw fit. Because of this Diter created a prosperous and safe realm, a perfect bastion when the kingdom was at peace. However, with the death of the king, turmoil will soon come, and might shake his lands to disorder.

Lady Hilda (sister, widowed)
Lord Gerard (brother, Diplomat and Advisor)
Lady Frig (eldest daughter)

Goal:
-Protect my lands from devastation and make sure it stays mostly intact
-Become a advisor/chancellor to the king (or new king)
-TG other goals
Owned Counties: 46- County of Bryn (Primary title): Bryn is a heavily wooded county with very little in terms of open fields or fertile land. However, in Bryn lies the city of Old-Trees, a major trading hub for many of the south-western counties, both because of location and because the roads are constantly monitored, seeing as it is so valuable that trade flows well.
45- County of Frisie: A land of rolling hills and fields as far as the eye can see. Out of the two Counties, Frisie is the land that produces all the wheat and vegetables to feed the two. It is also known for its great pastures of cattle and horses. There are very few villages in the county, for it is mostly farmland.

Nice to have you! Accepted. Although ill have to keep an eye on loyalists since we have yet to see any plotters planning to overthrow the throne.

Tag. I'm thinking of having a character from a foreign land sent as a courtier/hostage to the kings court. Would it make more sense to have them be from some nomadic tribes conquered by the crown or a distant eastern/middle eastern themed land? Or would you recommend steering away from this idea? :)

Hmm well, as long as you can make it logical im up for it. My suggestion is since the Asyan Peninsula was conquered by a distant eastern culture, you could be a noble from there, then your hostage situation could work.

If you want real origins in the middle east, perhaps you wrre a mercenary leader who was captured by the crown, or simply a merchant entering new strange lands.

Got the map updated, and it now has the Updated Rayhaven and the Counties the Brendislav has requested. Did names separate to represent the individuality of the counties, however kept the colors the same for both, so you can tell they belong to the same person. Let me know if you don't like something about the maps and I will change it.

Player Character: Sarangerel Pallas
Title: (In Order of Rank) Khatun, Purse of the King, Duchess, Marquess, Countess
Full Name: Duchess Sarangerel of House Pallas, Duchess of Wyster, Marquess of Delos, Countess of Tauris, Purse of the King, and Khatun of the Tsakhiagiin Khanate.
Age: 36
Appearance:
Image

Height and Weight: 1.61 m, 57 kg
Religion: Some witchy leanings, though when she leaves her lands she makes a passive attempt at being Luaric to appease the King and Pope.
Culture: The unique culture of Wyster, a near equal mixture of Galeacic and Wiquan, with dozens of other subgroups mixed in.
Biography: Born in the Grand City of Wyster, hidden deep in the heart of the mountains dividing Galeacia and the Entrusil Empire, Sarangerel was the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of House Pallas. Her mother was a descendant of Ereco the Destroyer's sister, and the Khatun ("Queen Chief") of the Tsakhiagiin Hordes (also known as the Tsakhiagiin Khanate), the very same Horde that led the various clans of the Eastern Lands against the Empire hundreds of years ago. Her father was the current head of House Pallas (a house older than Galeacia itself) and Duke of the City of Wyster, a ducal territory in itself, as well as Delos and Tauris, eastern states in the kingdom. She grew up in Wyster and received her education there as well as in some of the major cities of Galeacia, even spending three years in the Eastern Lands in one of the few cities there, Baruun-Urt, while she underwent the process to become the Khatun herself, a duty every heir of a Khanate must undertake once they turn 16. She has always been seen as an outsider in Galeacia despite descending from one of the oldest noble Houses in the kingdom and knowing more about the history and culture than many. Ever since her father died when she was 32, she has ruled as Duchess, content with her position and great wealth, happy to live peacefully in her seat of power in the sky. She faces no current threats to her power, her father dead, no siblings or cousins, and her mother having retired to live the rest of her life with their people in the Eastern Lands. However, with the new weakness of the throne she now faces a unique problem. Along the mountains on the border of the two nations there are about a dozen safe paths that can be crossed, and five come through her lands. In the entire mountain range there is one pass that is large enough to march an army through. The City of Wyster is built on a large cliff, a few dozen yards above this pass and has grown rich from the trade passing through. If the Entrusil Empire were to launch an attack on Galeacia, it would most likely have to start with conquering Wyster.
Notable Relationships: None so far.
Professional Skills: Trained in the ways of the Eastern Lands (more specifically of the Tsakhiagiin Region, the southwestern region of the Eastern Lands named after the Khanate that rules most of it) and Galeacic Court Practises, very good with balancing the books, skilled in witchcraft (more a set of rituals that are said to provide results, not that any have been confirmed as "successful").
Strengths: Intelligent, knows many languages, cunning, obscenely wealthy, cultured
Weaknesses: Her Eastern appearance makes the more conservative nobles wary of her and has kept her from making many allies among the ruling classes, as a woman she is not well respected by those not under her rule, her Duchy is right at the forefront of war if it were to break out, she is a very delicate woman and is unskilled with most weapons
Goal: Protect her Duchy from invasion, keep the Church out of her lands, acquire the power in the Court necessary to ensure she will not be bothered by this new King, somehow bring her two separated lands together as one.
Owned Counties: 31, 32

31: Delos

The House of Delos was an independent house for over 200 years before it's line ended due to a lack of legitimate heirs and its lands were given by King Harold VI to the Duke of Wyster 130 years ago as a wedding present. These lands are known for their culture of raising some of the best knights in the land, the elevation of 3,500m lending them a certain heartiness not found in the rest of the low lying kingdom. Indeed, Delos is where the Duchy of Wyster gets most of its soldiers. Delos is also known regionally for its unusually large potato crops, and it is the breadbasket of the Duchy, though their true money comes from the trade of fabrics. Silk worms are able to survive only in these mountains and the high plateaus of the East, with the knowledge of silk cultivation provided by ancestors of the Eastern Lands, making this the only place in the world outside of the Eastern Lands that silk is cultivated. The citizens here are content with their lives, living prosperously on the edge of the lands of House Pallas.

32: Tauris

Tauris had long been a land free of any official rule, being such a small speck in the high mountains, but 100 years ago King Alfred passed through on his way to the east and spotted the potential of the small villages that were scattered about. Everyone there seemed to find nothing special about the fact that their clothes were adorned with rubies the size of fists and glittering with diamonds, or that their houses were made of bronze, gold, and silver bricks. Two years later he visited again and established the first true mines, as the natives has simply been digging off of the surface of the surrounding rocks.. He gave the lands to House Pallas, as Tauris was surrounded by their holdings, and made Tauris the official treasury of the Empire. When the split came, Tauris fell into the hands of the Galeacian Kingdom, and now provides over 80% of the coinage for the kingdom. The lands of Tauris are mostly rocky and provide little in the way of food, relying on Delos to provide this much needed resource. However, Tauris does have one resource that most would consider far more valuable: precious metals and gems. Silver is in the most abundance, with a still-respectable amount gold, copper and iron mines, and several diamond, sapphire, and emerald mines as well. Precious stones here are so common that they are used in clothes, shoes, and even as toys for children. Traditional silver and gold currency is so devalued here that they trade amongst themselves using a barter system. The mines of Tauris are technically controlled by House Pallas, and because of the fact that the currency of Galeacia is silver, House Pallas has long been recognised as one of the richest Houses, though most of the coin production must be sent to the King. The House that controls Tauris is known as the Purse of the King. The people of Tauris are happy with their lives, living in extremely beneficial conditions given the propensity of outsiders to go to great lengths to sell them things like "plumbing" and "medicine", things that only nobles in other lands could even think about.

The City of Wyster

The largest border city in Galeacia, Wyster is even older than either nation it bridges. Wyster is filled with artisans, scholars, travellers, and most of all, traders. It has grown rich over the years by using its unique position to extract heavy tolls from merchants who have few other safe ways across the treacherous and cold mountains, as well as its control of several luxury goods markets for the entire kingdom. Perhaps most famous for The Library of Wyster, it is home to over 20,000 scrolls and 3,000 bound books, the largest library in the world. Hundreds of years ago, when Ereco the Destroyer blazed a path through the Empire, he was stopped just on the other side of the mountains, and Wyster was his last base camp. When he was forced to retreat, thousands of men and women remained in the city, and ever since Wyster has been a bastion of multicuturalism, creating the most progressive city, culturally and scientifically, in the world. The Church has never been able to establish a foothold here, and despite the enormous potential of this city and their lands, they see no reason to expand, for their mountains are the only land worth ruling, high above the rest of the world. The citizens of Wyster are worried by the new instability of the Kingdom, as it could mean armies knocking at their door, though they trust in Sarangerel to keep them out of any conflict that may arise.

The Tsakhiagiin Khanate

Far to the East lies the Tsakhiagiin Khanate (a Khanate is a matriarchal society of roughly 30,000+ people that consists of many Chiefdoms that have been brought together; a Chiefdom is a patriarchal society of roughly 3,000+ people that rules over several Clans; a Clan is a collection of families that live together in groups of roughly 400+; there are very few Khanates, with most groups being independent Chiefdoms or Clans), the largest and most powerful of the Khanates, descended of the Khanate Khan Ereco led to conquest across the Empire. Numbering roughly 80,000 people with an army of 20,000, its people are proud and culture rich, most residing in the Wintermere Mountains and the lower plateaus of the southwestern Eastern Lands. While roughly 50,000 (including the army) citizens are largely nomadic, moving in predetermined patterns with the seasons, 30,000 live in three cities where wheat and other crops are grown to sustain the population. Cows and sheep are very popular animals, with husbandry being a way of life. Outsiders see little value in their culture or anything in their lands except silk, which would have been long stolen except for the fact that silkworms can only survive in the high mountains, only the Stonehollow and Wintermere Mountains reaching high enough to provide the proper conditions. While obviously a populace and army of this size makes Khatun Sarangerel the most powerful noble in Galeacia, even on par if not above the King, Wiquan culture is looked down upon in the west, her Khatun title seen lower than even a Baroness; and her lands, people, and army are on the far side of a hostile Empire, thousands of kilometres away, taking almost eight months to make a round trip journey with a small party, much less an entire army. Nevertheless, she is proud of her heritage and titles, and longs for a day when her people can come together at last, without having to cross endless enemy territory for months.

RP Sample: The orange was sad. Here he was, on a vine, and all of his brethren had been chosen. One by one they were taken to fulfil their true purpose, while this orange had been passed by. Whether he had been not noticed or simply ignored was unknown, what was known was that he had to do something. He had heard horror stories, fruit left on the vine to rot. To simply imagine it was almost too much. As the sun set and a new dawn broke, the orange began to lose hope. But then - what was it . . . a sound! The orange peeked around a large leaf obstructing his vision and saw a sight that made his pulp leap. A lone farmer with a bucket and a stick, beating the trees for any oranges that had been missed. The orange was saved! He would have a purpose. He would have a life.

All through the short walk to the factory the orange was nervous, too much so to speak to the half dozen other assorted oranges. Several were quite small or deformed, but a few were like it: perfect. Eventually the farmer finished the row he was on and made his way to the nearby orange juice factory. When the orange saw the sign with a hand squeezing an orange, he was overjoyed. Free massages! What a treat! I had no idea that our true purpose was to lounge around all day. However, this was not to be.

As soon as the doors to the factory opened, the screams of his fellow oranges could be heard. To every side of him he saw horror and gore. Oranges were being squeezed to death, put into massive blenders, pumped full of artificial syrups, dumped in vats of boiling water. Orange was horrified, and he was next.

I would like to be a tribal vassal, or at least a vassal that holds close to tribal traditions that they keep discriminated, inquisition on their leader's ass all the time, but they remained loyal till they had enough of the cultural differences. I don't know where to put them at though.

A Work in Progress [Update 2]

Postby Benuty » Wed Aug 15, 2018 10:46 pm

Player Character:Audwin von Richter.

Title: [Legal Title] The 5th governor of his majesties mandate, and concession of the Lamist Territories.

[Abbreviated Title] Lamist Territorial Governorship.

[Ceremonial Title] Ceremonarch, and Hegemon of the Lamist Confederacy.

Governor of His Majesties Mandate of the Lamist Confederacy.

Full Name: Audwin von Richter "the ever wise" of the Lamist Territories

Age: 36.

Appearance: A tall jovial man left bound in a chair following a crippling accident with a horse in a sports competition. His position and wealth afford him the finest clothes, food, and drink, but instead, he chooses to spend his praying, seeking, and giving advice. His face shows the years, but often his name affords him great respect. The most noticeable aspect about his feature is the incredibly large beard that goes down to his arms.

crippled by an accident during a tournament his pride has withered away leaving a man who finds solace in wisdom. While physically he is no longer a threat to anyone it is the position he represents that gives weight to his threats. With the backing of the Dissenters, he has continued the family legacy of codifying their scriptures, theology, and doctrine in order to maintain their weight against the mainstream faithful. The Eastern Territories Company keeps his families pockets lined, but

Height and Weight: 6'1, and 200 lbs.

Religion: The Dissenters Church
The Luaricist faith ultimately is sometimes its biggest enemy, and attempts at reform would often be crushed before they reached heights that could make them too much of a threat. In the first war (446-468) Peter von Richter led an expedition against the then independent Lamist dissenters who he believed were funding rebellions in the homeland. The war ultimately ended in a stalemate with only a quarter of the territory ruled, and by 478 the man was dead. The second governor (478-499) Hermann von Richter converted to the dissenters and made peace with the Lamists in the Treaty of Laierpo (479). He was named governor over the territories, but for all intents, and purposes ruled independently for the time being.

The second (480-484), and third (489-493) wars bled the southern lands dry of any fight in them and caused a flood of refugees into the lamist domain. The realm solved the most pressing question of its time through the Council of 494 recognizing the Richter's sovereignty over their lands in exchange for fealty, and payments to the realm as subjects. In, return the area would be a haven for the dissenter' faith and be unmolested by the faith so long as the terms were kept. The same could not be said of the dissenters outside of the area, and ultimately this possibly leads to the death of dissent outside of the Lamist territory (for now).

Culture: Lamist-Galeic (Minority mixed culture established by the expedition)

Biography: The 5th descendant of the Richter Family they have served as "governors" of the Lamist territories for several generations now. His family was given a noble house grant and men in order to bring judgment upon the heretics of the Confederacy only to be bogged down in a long war. The second son converted to the very branch of the faith they had been sent to quash and reunited the Confederacy under his leadership by a treaty marriage. The Richter's were brought into the fold not by war, but treaty essentially rendering them "vassal kings" of a heavily autonomous area. The governors are kings in the lands and abide by thousands of years of tradition in a complicated legal framework.

Royal attempts at putting the territories on the same level as the rest of the realm have failed in part due to the fact treaty forbids it. They house the only legal zones where dissenters can practice their faith freely, and the various cultures here don't take too kindly to foreigners attempting to impose "direct rule". The Richters operate in the name of the king while legally contain all the rights granted to kings and rulers, but choose the title "governor" to offer up some semblance of vassalage. It also prevents the royal government from attempting politically suicidal reforms from the outside which could send the realm spiraling into war. In Audwin's case, he seeks to preserve the current political power his family has amassed, and keep the peace in part of the realm.

Audwin has earned his nickname in part due to his fervent desire to attend any negotiation big or small from all over the realm. His status as a cripple hasn't slowed him down one bit, and as such, any affair will often draw Audwins interests no matter what it is over. Now a young man claims the crown, and whether his iron grip will ensure peace or fracture the realm remains to be seen.

Notable Relationships: (optional)
Professional Skills: A politically savvy genius heavily into scholarly matters, and maintaining a balanced budget.

Strengths: Invests much time in scholarly subjects and debates. Is often sought for diplomatic matters no matter how big or small.

Weaknesses: The obvious weakness is the fact he is crippled. Another is his constant obsession to involve himself in diplomatic matters which hasn't gotten him into trouble yet but could. Is viewed with suspicion due to being the patron of the dissenter movement as well as its protector ensuring interfaith-relations are murky at best.

Goal:
-A well-known advocate of the royal confederacy model arguing for a decentralized monarchy with the greater power invested in the nobility. Many are attracted to his ideas, but the idea of establishing systems to represent the people are either quaint at best or threatening to the system at worst.
-Encouraging reform within the mainstream faith now that the papacy is splintering into two, and wants a new treaty to protect dissenters all over the realm.
-Expand the influence of the eastern territories company, and preserve the areas neutrality unless war involvement is absolutely necessary.
-Expand the autonomy of the area he serves as governor over as well as the autonomy of the nobility.

Owned Counties: 36, 41,42,43, 48, and 49
*Personal demense is province 42, but the rest of them are subject to the Richters owing them fealty.

Regional History:

County Color: (put a color down any color that hasn't been taken)

RP Sample: (Write a story, or link a previous RP post. If you do write I demand you write a story about a orange for my amusement, but in all seriousness make anything up)

Player Character: Lord Reaver Warwyck III
Title: Lord Reaver of the Barren Coast,
Full Name: Warwyck Crossman
Age: 27
Appearance: A tall man, gigantic even, topping off at 7 feet tall, and muscular as well. Has a long beard reaching his collarbone, and has even longer hair reaching past his neck, both are colored jet black. Has pale sky blue eyes.
Height and Weight: 7’1”, 187 pounds
Religion: Sea Gods
Culture: Nors(debatable)
Biography: To know Warwyck, we must know the history of his family. Way back when the West Entrusil Empire fell, foreign ships bearing a jet black cross on their sails were spotted of the barren coastlands of the south(near Blackedge), and when the drumming of war drums was heard, it was known, these people, whoever they were, were here to stay, and they would enforce that in a bit. Longships landed on a muddy beach on the usually barren coasts, and when an army came to meet them, they were slaughtered to a man, and the foreigners from the sea entered the town and slaughtered all those in it, eventually, their conquest reached the entire coast, with the least bastion of resistance in Dryriver Valley being assaulted and executed to the last man.

These sea people carved out an empire of raiders, and it was found out they worshipped gods of the seas, and in reverence to them, and in obedience, they raided the coastlines of the chaos embroiled lands for centuries, they also claimed to be of Nors descent. They stayed in power, until the rise of the Galeacians, who invaded them and set fire to their ships, and on that day, the Sea Emperors of Neuflandr bowed, and became lowly dukes, and first of them was Oswyck “the Emperor-who-Bowed” Crossman.

We continue onwards through time, to the birth of Warwyck to Lord Reaver Warwyck II, mocked by many as “Manydaughter”, due to his massive libido being unable to produce one son, until Warwyck’s birth of course. He quickly was taught to be a worthy successor, trained in sword and axe when he was able to walk, told to be as fluent as can be when he was able to talk, and teached by many to be a brilliant strategist, in all of these, he exceeded, perfecting them. He was granted Barren Beach as a way of training him in rulership when he came of age, and he excelled again, building a vibrant trader’s town in that barren coastland, and when his father died, he sought to improve his new domain.

Now, he is a just and able ruler,
Notable Relationships: None, who would want to consort with foreign rapists?
Professional Skills: Well-trained swordsman, can hold his own in a fight, whether it be 1v1 or in battle. Administrator and architect, likes to apply both in wars, to great effect. Mediocre schemer, the fool wants to kill people, but has bad wording and luck, plus nobody likes an infidel.
Strengths: Good commander, highly aggressive on the field, but also highly random, preference for leading from behind and on the flanks. Builder, likes to make towns and castles, and siege equipment.
Weaknesses: A foreigner with a foreign religion exclusive only to his domains, good luck doing any conquest, and even more luck in administering those conquests.
Goal: Restart the raiding tradition, become emperors once more, and sow anarchy in the empire.
Owned Counties: 67, 68, 69, 70, 71
70, County of Seastone Hall
67, County of Barren Beach
68, County of Deadtree
69, County of the Grays
71, County of Dryriver Valley

Player Character:

Title: Duke of Pascay, commonly known as Larranna.

Full Name: William Alexandre de Pascay.

Age: Nineteen.

Appearance: Picturo.

Height and Weight: Five feet and eleven inches, eighty-one point two kilograms.

Religion: Lutholic, dedicated to both his God and his King.

Culture: Galeic by birth, and by maner.

Biography: A twin at birth, eldest by only a few minutes - William was born into the wealthy, albeit not overly prestigious house of de Pascay. He was only four years old when he and his sister were given their first tutors, at first their education wasn’t overly different - it was merely the recreational activities they partook in that divided them. But by around eight, things began to change - she was taught tailoring and basic household skills, whilst he was sent to the Maritime Academy, where he learned how to sail, fish and how to handle a sword. They continued to remain apart until his fourteenth birthday when he was brought back home to study military strategy, accountancy and more noble-specific duties. Allowing them to rekindle the friendship they had when much younger.

At fifteen, he attended his first courtly visit with his father at the Royal Court, where he quickly garnered an understanding of the fragile situation of the Kingdom and overheard much of the goings-ons of the neighbouring realms and other Counts and Dukes. But he was never really invited to speak, his youth really excluding him from the majority of courtly conversations unless it was another lord or lady expressing what a spitting-image of his father he was, or how pleasant and polite he was. It was a real miracle, really - that he wasn’t obscenely more confident, as he’d always been on the receiving end of praise.

Then, halfway to his nineteenth birthday - in a similar fashion to their new-King Phillip II, he lost his father to the pox. And soon he was baptised, in the chapel of St. Richard, just outside his birthplace as Duke William I de Pascay of Calailles and took up the mantle as head of his household. His mother passing shortly after; her death, due to the rather ignorant nature of medicine, placed on grief - for it’s said she never truly recovered from the loss of her husband.

Notable Relationships:

  • Duke Richard de Pascay (Father - Deceased)
  • Duchess Adelade Anne de Artoise (Mother - Deceased)
  • Lady Adelade Privy de Pascay (Sister - Living - Nineteen)

Professional Skills: He received a rather costly private education thanks to his father’s prime position, and as a result has an intimate knowledge of various languages, numeracy and even received a martial training as is expected of a future border-lord.

Strengths: Has a knack for melee combat and sailing, as well as numeracy. He’s won numerous melees and jousts throughout his local region and is relatively well-known for his abilities. His lack of a marriage, and the fact that he does have an heir in the form of his sister - means he can be quite the political asset in himself.

Weaknesses: He lacks practical experience in many of the fields that he’s been educated in, the only area in which he can say he’s really been hands-on in is melee combat, with the various opportunities he’s had to spar and compete in contests. He however, lacks experience in the commanding of men and courtly diplomacy - as generally speaking, his father handled such tasks.

Goal: William is a young, and apt individual and has the goals to reflect that. Primarily he wishes to see his family’s status maintained above and beyond anything else, but he does have some more personal ambitions of his own - to see himself married and to produce an heir of his own, among the most significant of them. Other than this, he merely wishes to do what he views as right - he’s new to the ‘game’ as it were, but not totally ignorant. He’d joined his father on many courtly journeys and witnessed much scheming, he knows his faith and virtue will be tested.

Owned Counties: (6) Calailles home of the family’s seat of power and most densely populated region of their holdings, (5) Dasconny the least populated region of the Duchy and most densely wooded, (4) Vertois the second most densely populated region and home to the Vertois Naval Institute, (11) a small agricultural province, with a significant interest in the production of fine wines - among the wealthiest regions, and perhaps one of the more largely populated & (12) Bretsace the largest region of the Duchy and the most agriculturally oriented of the four provinces.

County Color: Burgundy Red.

RP Sample: My most recent post on Nationstates.

I like it, but wouldn't you want to be part of Nors culture, the people from a northern peninsula of ancient traditions known as the Norslands? They even today pillage and sack the Entrusil Empire.

Also there's always Falanic paganism in Norsland, but you can keep your religion if you desire. Other than that your good.

Nors-Gaelic are those of Nors descent with Nors blood, however Falanic across the border are more tribal, so you could be a border vassal. However I think the coast and mountain ranges are fairly crowded.

Ok, then can I reserve 47,48,50, and 51 as some giant forest in that area?
