Rise of the Volksfront(New Eastland)(MT:IC:OPEN)

Things had changed in Neues Ostreich. Slowly, the sense of community and national pride gave way to materialism and greed. The crown was outraged. Slowly, the royal family had been stripped of its power. A Constitutional Monarchy was now in place since the early 80's and the dissolution of the old Imperial power of Ostreich(Eastland), but parliament was now a sham, a den of corruption and terrible apathy toward the general populace. Sure, the defense budget had been recently inflated, but not to defend the citizens. Offshore oil reserves and ships needed protection from piracy. The election of 2018 changed everything. A new candidate had emerged from the woodwork. She was Frau Heidi Grüber from the KAP(Communal Workers' Party). Born in a humble village called Schwarzfeld, she had been raised as a poor farmer. To many, she embodied the true spirit of social justice and personal freedom. She was seen as a true hero of the working class as well. Her platform consisted of things like lifting the federal ban on same-sex marriage and abortions(at this point legal only in very especially extenuating circumstances). More housing programs and welfare were on the agenda as well. Many of the youth flocked to her hoping to receive things like free education and healthcare.. The Federal Government had opened the borders to refugees and other immigrants for the past 15 or so years. They did this on behalf of their corporate masters, looking to import the cheapest possible labor. Wages were driven down. The job market became highly competitive, and unemployment skyrocketed. Leftist parties all promised more social institutions to combat the growing economic instability and suffering. With the immigrants came crime. Rapes and murders had increased more than 10 fold in many areas. The people seemed hopeless.

Disenfranchised white youth flocked behind a man known as Michael Gunther from the SIHP(State Industrial Homeland Party). He was expected to do very well in rural areas. The Capital of Neues Ostreich was his native city. It was a large city of over 2 million people called Sturmburg. He had only just stepped down from his position as a military General to run for the highest office of the new democratic government. His followers wore silver dress shirts and black ties. Their outfits made them seem grim, uniform, and intimidating. Immigrant rape gangs were beaten in the streets by angry young men. In many cases they would disappear entirely. On behalf of their corporate masters the state intervened. The prisoners were now full of members of Volksfront. On the night of the election, Prime Ministerial Candidate Michael Günther delivered an address:

"These traitors have allowed our women to be groped and prodded by these immigrants like cattle. Young men are being arrested for doing their duty in defending our own people from these abominations. The Parliament are all traitors. I will execute the rights enabled by me of this office to prosecute every God-forsaken traitor in this shame of a Republic!"

The crowd cheered thunderously, as they gave him an enormous applause.
"They will pay. They will pay with their blood, and the time they have stolen from our youngest and brightest citizens by incarcerating them!"
The man visibly shook with anger. The crowd before him was stunned. They stood in silence, in a trance-like state awaiting his next word with great anticipation.
"I swear this to you, my brothers, and when I am elected, immediately, you will all be pardoned! Even those of you who have killed these scum, for it is only to expected that when this infestation of horrid swine is unleashed upon us that we must purge our streets of their filth!"

The cheering of the crowd could be heard from some distance. It was both awe-inspiring and Earth-shattering. They began to chant.
"BLUT, SIEG, UND BODEN!"
It was a line from the famous national anthem of the old Imperial Eastland(Ostreich). Herr Günther descended from the stage and disappeared somewhere behind it.

The whole country awaited the election results. If the populist and socialist parties both polled too high, a Coalition could be impossible to form. The left and right were equally divided. There was a long list of much less interesting and popular candidates representing various libertarian, conservative, and left-wing parties. The left and right both hated the various factions within their respective political spectrum almost as much as one another. In the Capital the premier news broadcast station was the first to reveal the ELECTORAL RESULTS

Various parties now knew how much support they truly had. It remained to be seem what Coalitions would form. Any party would need a majority to rule.

Coalition Talks

The discussion forum would be internationally broadcast. There were diplomats from other countries observing the proceedings as well. The whole nation, and the world watched to see what party alliances could possibly be formed. Either party could form a majority if they allied another party. In a huge upset, the diplomat from the NCB took the stage to make an announcement:

"NCB will dissolve it's party and join the SIHP after long negotiations result in both mutual understanding and the alignment of our agendas"

Many in the crowd cheered, but rowdy communist youth began to march toward the representative with an aggressive posture. The anthem of the Volksfront began to play on the loud speakers as Silvershirt Stormtroopers confronted the communists. A massive brawl was about to erupt. The NU and FUP both found themselves caught in the middle.

Armed soldiers attempted to get between the two factions, but failed. The soldiers didn't know what to do. King Hans von Reinfluss II ordered them not to interfere, lest they further escalate the situation. The communist ranks were full to the brim with black and Arab immigrants. The fascist legions were all typical Germanic looking people with piercing colored eyes and vibrant light hair. Both sides carried an imposing presence. The battle ahead would be bloody.

Day 2 of the New Eastland Coalition Talks
Tensions could not have been higher. Today, it was highly anticipated and projected by the news that the Green Party would form a Coalition with the left, thus establishing enough of a majority to rule. Actually though Heinz Ulrich, the President of the Party was not in favor if the mass immigration. It was suspected however that he did not sympathize with the populist party either.

The stormtroopers and communists had brawled the previous night until soldiers finally managed to break it up. There were only a few major injuries, but many minor ones. The communists were decisively beaten and chased out of the conference. This time armed soldiers stood and awaited the arrival of the various political factions. Members of KAP had waited a few hours for the Volksfront Nationalists(SIHP) to arrive. Finally, they stormed through the doors, just as it seemed they were no-shows. This time something was different. Not only had their numbers now swelled, but they carried rifles. Violence might erupt with what happens next.

Heinz Ulrich took the stage in his navy blue suit and spoke before the audience,
"The NSU will not form a Coalition with the KAP. Instead, we have come to see eye-to-eye with the SIHP and will form a coalition to govern from the right"

This was a huge upset. No one had suspected the greens to turn on the left. Newspapers would speculate they had some form of leverage over him. Claims of foreign interference and demands for a recall would be ignored. Michael Günther was the rightful Prime Minister of New Eastland. No one could possibly dispute that. The Libertarian Party of course refused to form a Coalition with either side, for they represented the absolute center and economic freedom/individualism. They could not bear to associate with either collectivist faction, for it opposed their fundamental principles.

The Communists were outraged. Suddenly a loud commotion is heard. Trucks full of Volksfront Nationalists with body armor and assault weapons descend upon the conference. The Communist leadership are surrounded along with the other opposition party. Michael Gunther took the stage and delivered his acceptance speech:

"My first act is to arrest all opposition party leaders, and declare a state of martial law. No longer will communism be tolerated in these lands"

Every opposition party member was arrested. The right wing faction had declared an absolute dictatorship of the executive branch of the government. Parliament was suspended, and arrests were expected. Many would try to flee the country. It was highly anticipated that the Nature Conservationist party would dissolve entirely, and simply become an environmentalist wing of the SIHP. Only time would tell, but it seemed the Constitutional Monarchy was no more. It was highly suspected that the Royal family had been funding the populist far-right. Some suspected a the restoration of the monarchy's power and possibly even the reinstatement of the old Imperial Kingdom. Time would tell. For now, it seemed no one could stop the new far-right government.
