About MAH Mikroelektroniyat
MAH Mikroelektroniyat is Riysa's leading electronics company and its only major commercial electronics manufacturer. Founded in 1936 by the Riysian government as a special government factory for manufacturing early computers, it was privatized in the 80s and has since grown into an innovative, leading company with over 45,000 employees. MAH Mikroelektroniyat focuses primarily on enterprise electronics and related chipsets, such as mainframes, network servers, and high-performance computing, as opposed to consumer electronics such as tablets and PCs.
Using its decades of experience and skill in electronics manufacturing, developed good practices, the best manufacturing equipment importable, and most importantly, friendly and helpful staff, MAH Mikroelektroniyat is poised to enhance the electronics infrastructure of its customers, providing them a decisive advantage in the highly networked modern world.
History
The history of MAH Mikroelektroniyat starts with the northern Riysian town of Haraytan, located 17 km to the north-west of Halab, one of Riysa's biggest cities. Famous for its large, picturesque fields, this town traditionally provided agricultural produce - largely various kinds of fruits - for Halab. It still does today; however, it has since become one of Riysa's central hubs for a vitally important industry - electronics.
By the mid 1930s, the Riysian government had become increasingly interested in the rapidly advancing fields of electronics and computing, due to their potential for both civil and military applications. A couple of "radio engineering" factories had sprouted up in the late 20s and early 30s under government control, but had limited output due to lack of experience and equipment. So, in 1934, a directive was signed, ordering the creation of the Riysian electronics and electromechanical computing industry, placed under the control of the government. Examples would be licensed, machinery would be imported from overseas, and engineers would be sent abroad to learn; all that was needed now were the research facilities and factories to produce them.
Identifying a site for these facilities wasn't easy, as they had to be secure and obscure enough to protect secret government projects, while still being accessible to employees and the supply chain, all without straining the Riysian economy and budget. After a brief survey, Haraytan was picked as one of those sites; it was a relatively small, unknown village, but it was very close to the major commercial hub of Halab. On top of that, Haraytan was known for its natural beauty - a great bonus for those who were going to be working there! The foundation for a combined electronics factory and research facility was laid in 1936, and in 1937, it opened its doors as MAH (Masnaa' Alat Hasoub - Computing Machine Factory) Haraytan. By the end of the year MAH Haraytan had made its first delivery, an electromechanical computer for census tabulation requested by the provincial government in Halab. A year later, the Haraytan Polytechnical Institute was set up by the Riysian government to train qualified personnel for Haraytan and other factories in Riysa. Together with this new source of employees, MAH Harayatan laid the foundation for what would eventually become MAH Mikroelektroniyat.
Through World War 2 and into the 1950s, MAH Haraytan was an active participant in almost every government project, many of them secret - such as developing an electromechanical "bombe" for the Riysian Air Force Intelligence Service. However, as Riysa became wealthier, priorities changed, and more skilled personnel and facilities came online, the system of factories began to specialize, to increase efficiency. Thus, while some factories chose to specialize in military electronics, Haraytan chose to focus on large scale computers, data processing, intended for the civilian side of the government. Through the 50s and into the 70s, Haraytan worked on developing all-electronic computers and microelectronics, releasing its first computer - a licensed modification of the IBM 704 - in 1958, starting a tradition of producing high-quality mainframes that lasts to this day. Due to its important work on microelectronics, MAH Haraytan was renamed to MAH Haraytan Mikroelektroniyat in 1968.
In 1980, the digital revolution was in full force across the world, and MAH Haraytan Mikroelektroniyat had outgrown its old facility. The demand for computers in the private sector, big and small, grew exponentially compared to previous decades, quickly outpacing the Riysian government's limited ability to supply commercial electronics. As an already prominent manufacturer of civilian electronics, and combined with its need for a bigger facility, it was decided to begin privatizing MAH Haraytan Mikroelektroniyat. A newly constructed manufacturing facility in the Ramouseh district of Halab was handed over to it during this process, with its whole manufacturing team moving to the new location by 1983. With the Ramouseh facility opened for production and the company now privatized, it changed its name to MAH Mikroelektroniyat - a name it proudly bears to this day.
Commercial Operations
MAH Mikroelektroniyat focuses on manufacturing what is known as enterprise electronics, in particular mainframes, network servers, and high-performance computing, as opposed to consumer electronics such as tablets and PCs, as well as related integrated circuits and peripherals. This is a result of both its long history and experience in manufacturing this class of products, and of market pressures in Riysa favoring this segment domestically.
However, other markets are not being neglected; MAH Mikroelektroniyat is also gearing up for the massive embedded/IoT and mobile personal device market, recognizing the need for ever more microelectronics in an increasingly networked world. In particular, the company has launched a number of universal chipsets - such as the Azimuth SoC - based around the proprietary "Constellation" 64-bit VLIW architecture, utilizing the high power and efficiency of VLIW, along with backwards compatible x86/ARM emulation, to provide competitive solutions for the future.
Thus, MAH Mikroelektroniyat activities can be broken down into the following fields:
- Mainframes - Powerful computers designed to process large amounts of data and transactions, they are traditionally MAH Mikroelektroniyat's flagship products. Mainframes can be found here.
- Servers - General purpose servers, both high and low end, and rack and blade mounted for a variety of commercial purposes. Servers can be found here.
- Microprocessors - CPUs used in other MAH Mikroelektroniyat products, many of them sold independently as well. They can be found here.
- System-on-a-Chip - Fully integrated chipsets used for consumer electronics and other embedded devices, from smartphones to automobiles. These products can be found here.
- Workstations - Computer stations optimized for work related tasks such as computer aided design and industrial automation, which are typically more powerful than your average personal computer. MAH Mikroelektroniyat's workstations will be uploaded to this storefront soon, so keep checking back!
- Personal Devices and Peripherals - Additional devices that rely on MAH Mikroelektroniyat's technologies, such as high-end tablet computers, SOHO internet routers, and even networked printers. MAH Mikroelektroniyat's range of personal devices will be uploaded to this storefront soon, so keep checking back!
- Additional Chipsets - Miscellaneous chipsets such as RAM memory, GPUs, FPGAs, and more. MAH Mikroelektroniyat's full selection of ICs are still under development, but it will be updated soon, so keep checking back!
- Storage - Storage solutions for small businesses and big data centers alike, including hard disk drives, tape storage, and SSD/flash storage. MAH Mikroelektroniyat's full storage selection is still under construction, but it will be updated soon, so keep checking back!
MAH Mikroelektroniyat is completely vertically integrated, owning all of its research, design, and fabrication facilities, unlike most manufacturers, which are fabless. This ensures high production efficiency, and guarantees customers that MAH Mikroelektroniyat's products will all be held to the same exactingly high standard of quality.
Leadership and Structure
MAH Mikroelektroniyat uses a two-tier structure for corporate governance, with the Board of Directors as a governing board, and the Management Board as an executive board. The Board of Directors oversees general operations, appoints and/or removes members of the Management Board, and reviews company policies and major operations. The Management Board carries out day-to-day management and execution of all MAH Mikroelektroniyat activities, except that which falls under the jurisdiction or review of the Board of Directors.
