I definitely see that it's very heated, and probably even actionable, but I'm not really sure how it's flaming. It wasn't a personal attack, I was just telling him, in very heated language, that I didn't care what he thought about the matter.

I mean the same could be said for telling someone to “fuck off” or the like. We put such personal and incideniary language under flaming. The clear purpose is to insult the value of the other poster. Appeal denied.
