DEBATE: Mental Health Awareness

Postby Kand Sovi » Thu Jul 19, 2018 3:53 pm

DEBATE: Mental Health Awareness
Category: Health
Area of effect: Research

It is time to talk about mental health.
Mental illness could cause some problems by the individual includes the following:
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Anger problems
  • Suicide
  • Violence of self or others
  • And many more
There are ways to start something new. We will have:
  • Open and expand mental health research facilities
  • Hire a big number of researchers and psychologists to staff the facilities
  • Hire health analysts for research purposes
  • Speak with mental health patients to help tell their story
We are looking for to put our effort in mental health research.

"So, your options are 1) throw money at the issue, 2) throw money at the issue, 3) throw money at the issue, and 4) solicit stories the majority of people don't have an interest in hearing. Effective.

"You should try finding a specific issue to address, not just 'mental health' but a specific mental health issue, and then write a policy to fix that issue. Not...whatever this is."

OOC: This one sounds veeeeery much as violating patient-doctor confidentiality. And what if the patient doesn't want to tell their story or participate in mental health research?

In real life at least your consent is asked before your case can be included in any study, and even then all traces of any identifying information must be removed. Same in the existing PRA resolution in here, which also allows people to refuse treatment.

I know from personal experience, because trans evaluation falls under mental health category, and just because I agreed to the study involving the evaluation process (we are rare enough as is, so I figured that anything that can help people going through the evaluation later, would be a good thing), doesn't mean my name would be mentioned in it, nor that anything that could identify me personally could be legally used from the interview, so I can't really think of that as being something to "tell my story".

Apologies for absences, non-COVID health issues leave me with very little energy at times.
