Water Polo International Championships 5 - North Prarie

Welcome to North Prarie! The North Prarie Sports Commission is happy to host athletes from around the world competing for the title of WPIC 5 champion.
This is the thread to post rosters and role-plays. The results posted by the host (NP) will also be available for viewing in this thread. This is NOT the thread for OOC (out of context) discussion. For any such posts, the host will ask you to delete the post. OOC discussion is appropriate for the discussion thread.

What is a roleplay?
A roleplay is any post by a participant that isn't OOC. These role-plays are most commonly match reviews, but can be stories involving players, politicians, or anything as long as it isn't OOC discussion.
There is also roleplay permissions. These are rules for your opponent to follow if they roleplay before you. Put this box in your roster with the appropriate guidelines so your opponent knows what rules to follow when covering the match:
Code: Select all
Roleplay Permissions
My opponent, if they RP first, can do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes/No
Godmod scoring events: Yes/No
RP injuries to my players: Yes/No
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes/No
Hand out fouls to my players: Yes/No
Eject my players: Yes/No
Godmod other events: Yes/No

What is a roster?
A roster is, in fact, a roster. In your roster, you will cover the players for your team as in depth as you like. Many include coaches, backstory, and even uniforms for their players in their roster.

Scorination: Posting of results should occur every day at 10AM CST. Bear in mind I will be on vacation during a lot of the WPIC (sometimes with little cell service), so results might not always be delivered on time. However, I will always try to notify everyone via the discussion thread and/or the NS Sports Discord.
Schedule:
Thursday, June 21 : group draw on the NS Sports discord
Saturday, June 23 : MD1 Results posted (1v4, 4v2)
Sunday, June 24 : MD2 Results Posted (1v2, 3v4)
Monday, June 25: MD3 Results posted (1v3, 2v4)
Thursday, June 28 : Playoff R1 results posted
Saturday, June 30 : Semifinal results posted
Monday, July 2 : Final and 3PPO results posted
We hope you enjoy, so let's kick off the festivities and play water polo!

After the shock that was the fact that Darkmania won the WPIC4, Darkmania is back to defend their trophy at WPIC. The last one was maybe marred by the fact that there were boycotts, but that was last year and we hope that there will be no incidents this time.

It's time for...the Galos Conti show!
Havenic water polo will again attempt, and probably fail, to show it has more to offer than Savenna Ggalos Conti

Water polo is not the Haven's sport. Okay. In the Olympics we have a tendency to do very well, however our play in subsequent international championships has been nothing less than abysmal: and the mantra has fast became 'if it doesn't come through Galos Conti, it doesn't happen.' In fact, Savenna Galos Conti's ability to carry the team is only matched by the ability of the worlds basketball elite to realise just how to defeat the Haven: all you have to do is to mark Savenna Galos Conti well, and you have neutralised the Havenic threat in the water: until now, if you believe the hipe coming out of havenssport aquatic.
According to them, havenic water polo may have a second threat other than it's 34-year old captain. Jonathan Vintusmarius is 19...he plays on the other wing, he plays for Paventis sport club in Celeria and apparently, he might just be the answer that Havenic waterpolo needs.

And so, we present to you the roster. A roster with not just one, but apparently two individuals who know how to score goals.

Vakolicci haven and Celeria Roster
Head coach: Joseph Venkler
Style modifier: +5
The same team plays offence and defence.
Starters:
GK: Emmanuel Rentoskarie
Driver: Julia Splech
Driver: Peter Malconeia
LW: Savenna Galos Conti (captain)
RW: Jonathan Vintusmarius
Centre: Eleanor Resielma
Point: Fred Voskura
Bench:
GK: Sebastian lLopes
GK: Samantha Belton
Driver: Ismier Regonin
dDriver: Rintin Vonklari
Driver: Christian Querion
LW: Ciaran Tulips
LW: Germaine Toscardi
RW: Minty Velsor
RW: Joe Samuel
Centre: Marcus Meltzer
Centre: Beckie Spencer
Point: Gregory Roland
Point: Mary Hauss

RP permissions: Unless it's vintusmarius or Galos Conti, my normal 'go wild, go crazy, kill and maim if you want' permissions apply. If it's galos conti or vintusmarius, I'd prefer you didn't seriously injur them.

Seaponies Open WPIC Campaign with a Win
by Lisa Lavender

Water Polo International Championships
Image Equestrian States 10, Image Banija 8

COBBLESTONE LAKE, North Prarie - Runners-up in the first (and final) Baptism of Water, quarterfinalists in the third and fourth editions of the Water Polo International Championships, the Equestrian States national water polo team enters the latest edition of the WPIC with high expectations among their small but dedicated band of followers. Semifinals or bust! they say. The Equestrians certainly have the talent to pull it off too, despite falling short of that goal in the last two WPICs, most recently to eventual tournament winners Darkmania. This time around, the Seaponies were drawn into a group with debutante hosts North Prarie, consistently mediocre Devonta, and - oh sweet Celestia, not these guys again - Banija, the 4th-ranked team in the small pond that is international water polo. Yes, that Banija, the same nation we opened the 80th World Cup against not so long ago and also had some slight disagreements with that we resolved tactfully by annihilating their military. How delightful.

As it so happened, the Seaponies would open their WPIC campaign against the Banijans, and it seems the Equestrians' "Glorious Southwest" rivals just can't beat them in anything lately. In a hard-fought back-and-forth duel, the Equestrian States overcame Banija yet again, much to the delight of those Equestrian faithful who made the long trek to the sprawling South Pacific to support the Seaponies in their quest for glory. Coralita was the Seaponies' top player in their opener, scoring four of the Equestrians' ten goals. The win puts the Equestrians' in excellent position to advance in the tournament, with their first and biggest hurdle safely cleared and behind them. The Seaponies can't relax just yet, but knowing head coach Haile's style, complacency doesn't seem like something fans should be worrying about.

Next up for the Equestrian States is Devonta, who opened their own campaign with an 8-8 draw against hosts North Prarie. A win would almost certainly clinch the Seaponies a spot in the knockouts, so expect the Equestrians to go for the jugular against the Devontans to secure advancement with a game to spare.

After a very controversial 4th season of the Water Polo International Championship that saw the West Phoenician Mermen boycott the event, the team is back on the scene to recapture their third win and thrust themselves back into the number one ranking, after slipping into the number two spot.

North Prarie is the host of the 5th edition of this water polo event. Vollaba Arena, Wescott is home to the first match for the Mermen who played and defeated. Kannap 8-6. This win allowed them to share the number 1 spot with Aggrey-Fynn Land, there biggest competition in their pool who also ended up with a result of 8-6.

The Lighthouse Retirement Center, Stonebridge will host the match of West Phoenicia vs Aggrey-Fynn Land which will show which of these top teams will end up on top. Stands are expected to be jam packed as fans come to cheer on their heroes.

After missing out on a cycle, Mermen fans travelled far to watch their team dominate the pool again. For those unable to make the trip WP Sports 1 will air all West Phoenician games as well as highlights from other pools. As West Phoenicia braces for the Mermen to bring their nation home a win.

For the Water, For the Polo: Free Republics win WPIC debut match 10-8
by: Gloria Trentini

The Free Republics National Water Polo Team exuded style yesterday as they defeated New Lusitania and the Algarves 10 to 8 to win their WPIC debut. Unfortunately, I have been unable to obtain a copy of New Lusitania's roster as I was too busy having fun partying with our team after the win. Unlike those old geezers on that football team I used to cover, our National Water Polo team knows how to have fun with wild parties. Coach Claudia Kappel has no problem with her team enjoying life. She told me after the game that "Whatever the players do to relax on their own time is their own business. All I care about is that they're in the pool and ready to win whenever its game time. Sometimes, the way to succeed in life is to just enjoy yourself and not worry about tomorrow. Lots of coaches like to stress their players out but I've always believed that athletes play better when they're calm, relaxed and enjoying themselves." Coach Kappel, a native of Falatulu, certainly shares the view of life that is commonly associated with the islands.

One of the more striking facts about this National Water Polo Team is the team's commitment to gender equality. 9 out of the team's 17 players and both of the team's coaches are ladies which is ideal in the post-Stand Up to Sexism world we now live in. Going forward, I imagine most Republican National Teams will be more mixed when it comes to gender as our society continues to repudiate the backward views on gender expressed by scumbags like Jak Hamilton and embodied by that cancerous tumor Jasper Chuter. Speaking of ole Jasper, I hear he's still unemployed which serves him right after the things he made me do. Yes, under Jasper Chuter, women reporters like myself and like my lovely editor Nova Hellstrom-Hancock (Nova, if you're reading this, you're like a second mother to me!) were forced to perform sexual favors for that piece of shit just to keep our jobs!

Since I'm talking about what's going on around the office anyway, I should probably mention about how that snotty bitch Henriette Lecuyer has been fired from Sporting World. Oh my God I absolutely hated her! She was so high and mighty all the time always going on about how great "Coach Hamilton" was and about how hot the sex she had with her loser boyfriend. You know, the talentless "quarterback" for Hamilton's sorry excuse for a National Team that couldn't even complete a pass to save his life! She was always absolutely obsessed with that clown and wouldn't shut up about him around the office. Well, Miss Lecuyer, now you and your jackass of a boyfriend are both unemployed! Hell will freeze over before Consul Nicholls will let him anywhere near the National Team because next year's National Football Team will actually be built to win football games without putting everybody within 1000 miles of the stadium to sleep in the process.

But that's enough about what's happening around the Sporting World offices for the moment. Now, I want to focus on the match. New Lusitania jumped out to an early lead as the Republican team started slow. Some would say the team didn't practice enough since Mrs. Kappel only scheduled one practice for them prior to the game. As the match went on, however, they slowly clawed their way back in as Veronika Corvers and Eveliina Merikanto each scored 4 goals apiece, including Merikanto's goal with a minute and a half left to finally put the FFR up 9 to 8. Shortly thereafter, Shihomi Narita would score a clinching goal and the Free Republics had won the match 10 to 8.

The next Republican match will be against Nicana, also an unranked nation. Nicana is coming off of a loss to #1 ranked Vekaiyu. You can watch the WPIC live on the Watch Freedom Sports app or on WatchFreedomSports.co.republica. Unfortunately, the contract Freedom Sports signed to broadcast the WPIC does not require them to actually broadcast it on television and my sources inside the Federation-Wide Leader in Sports told me that they may consider broadcasting knockout round games on television if the Free Republics is playing in them. Otherwise, you will have to stream the games through their app which works from anywhere in the multiverse if you have a cable or satellite subscription in the Free Republics.

Originally our international football correspondent and more recently a domestic football reporter, she requested a transfer to the water polo beat. She has appeared in 2 Sporting World Bra & Panties issues!

Lighthouse Retirement Center, Stonebridge The stadium was jammed packed with fans of both West Phoenicia and Aggrey-Fynn Land filling the stadium to watch the number 2 ranked team, take on the number 6th ranked team.
The West Phoenician Mermen were truly back in fine form. Wanting to show their fans and the Water Polo world why they were truly number one. From the beginning of the game it was clear the Mermen had come to show their dominance, which they did for the entire length of the game beating Aggrey-Finn Land 14-5 to a roaring crowd that dominated the stands 5 to 1.

Head Coach Paul Heavenwood praised the the team, saying they were back in form after the previous boycott which saw the team drop from the number 1 spot to number 2. There was a fear that after a season off the passion to win may have vanished. But the Mermen have ceased all doubt with 2 victories under their belt. Nothing short of a third title win will satisfy the Mermen on their fans.

Seaponies Cruise Past Devonta into Quarterfinals

COBBLESTONE LAKE, North Prarie - The Equestrian States became the first team to clinch a spot in the playoff rounds of the WPIC this afternoon with a comfortable 8-5 victory over an unremarkable Devontan team that had struggled to a draw in their opening game against unranked hosts North Prarie. The game itself was rather unremarkable, with the Seaponies establishing dominance early, scoring the first five goals of the match before Devonta eventually got on the board, three of which were scored by standout forward Coralita. The young seapony would add another two to that before the end of the game, bringing her to nine on the tournament. Devonta rallied late to make the result a bit less lopsided, but the Equestrians shut them down and the game ended with the Seaponies celebrating a spot in the next round of the tournament.

The Seaponies will now travel to Durham for their final game of the group stage against hosts North Prarie who still have a chance to advance with an upset over the favored Equestrians, but will need help from Devonta to progress. For their part, the Seaponies will likely rest some key players but will nonetheless be looking to close out the group stage with a win according to head coach Haile, giving the Prarieans some hope that they might be able to pull off a surprise victory with the support of the locals behind them and the Equestrians' attention shifting to the next step in their quest for a first title.

Notable Staff

LPA President- Jacob Valeri (age 64)
He took over from the interim president going into WPIC 3. Not hired because of his water polo acumen, but rather for his showmanship; he was expected to bring more credibility and popularity to water polo domestically. Whether he has done his job effectively is debatable but one thing is for sure; he kept his name (and by extention, the LPA and the national team's) in the headlines from the beginning. However, at times he stole the spotlight from the team or the coaches with his own antics. He became known for his very bold, opinionated statements and his inclination to disrespect other teams and countries. At times, this has gotten him into trouble; for example, he got Vekaiyu to protest the Newmanistani national anthem in the WPIC 3 semis because of his decision to back a bylaw which would have prevented non-humans from competing in the Star League. He is a very polarizing figure, but as long as Aggrey-Fynn Land continues their winning ways and the popularity of water polo skyrockets, he appears to be here to stay.

Head Coach- Arthur Martin (age 38)
A skilled water polo player when he was in school and a rabid fan as he grew up, Arthur had to content himself with coaching his local high school team, as Aggrey-Fynn Land had no professional setup for the sport. When he was hired, he didn't have any professional experience with water polo (like most Landers), so his coaching skills were not the best. However, his passion and determination has lead him to great success early in his career, and he has not only succeeded in making water polo a popular sport domestically, but making Aggrey-Fynn Land a water polo powerhouse in the multiverse. His strong suit is his love for the game, positive energy, and his ability to connect with the players. He is his players biggest supporter, and has been known for cheering even louder than the fans when his team scores!

With the help of his assistant, Beverly Lambert, he has created a team based on explosive speed and unrelenting stamina. Speed is the key to their offense, with quick movement, passes, and shots utilized in the hopes of catching the opponent off-guard and getting goals. Their defensive play prizes strategy over aggressiveness, and aims to cause turnovers using high pressure and create counter-attacking opportunities. His preferred formation can be found below.

Style Modifier (if applicable): 3.5
Image

Assistant Coach- Beverly Lambert (age 30)
Not a polo player as a child, but a champion swimmer, so she handles the conditioning side of things and makes sure that the players are always in top shape and form and can properly execute the Fins' high-octane gameplan. Has a naturally calm disposition, and is great at motivating her players; she gives many a pep talk before and after the games. She can be found drinking chamomile tea during the games on the sideline.

Seaponies Drop Group A Finale, Darkmania Awaits in Quarterfinals
by Lisa Lavender

Water Polo International Championships
Image North Prarie 9, Image Equestrian States 8

DURHAM, North Prarie - The Equestrian States lost to hosts North Prarie in their final group stage match this afternoon after a half-strength Seaponies team conceded a pair of late goals in what was a meaningless game for the Equestrians. Having already clinched a spot in the tournament quarterfinals and the top spot in the group after victories over Banija and Devonta, Seaponies head coach Haile opted to play things safe and rest most of her key players against the Prarieans. Still, the Equestrians started strong, took the lead early, and controlled much of the game, the Seaponies' reserves clearly capable of dominating the inexperienced Prarieans despite the hosts keeping the score close with a bit of luck and some timely blocks. It was near the end of the game, when the Equestrian backups let their guard slip, that the desperate North Prarie team seized the opportunity to rally past the Seaponies and take their first - and only - lead of the game, much to the delight of the local supporters.

The seemingly half-hearted Equestrian attempts to equalize came up short, and the match ended win a 9-8 North Prarie win, giving the hosts a brief glimmer of hope before their dreams of advancing were dashed by news of the Banija-Devonta game out of Wescott. Banija had, not unsurprisingly, left nothing to chance and went all out against a mediocre Devontan side and systematically dismantled them with an 11-4 scoreline that was generous to the Devontans, securing Banija advancement as runners-up behind the Equestrian States in Group A.

Next up for the Seaponies is the quarterfinals, where for the second straight year they will face Darkmania. Last year, it was Darkmania who eliminated the Seaponies at this same exact stage of the tournament before going on to win it all. This time around, the Darkmanians enter the playoffs after finishing second in Group C behind free-scoring Razenthuria, hardly an ideal start to what has thus far been an underwhelming tournament for the defending champions. Meanwhile, the Equestrians are chomping at the bit to get revenge for their quarterfinals exit last year. With a well-rested squad, the Seaponies will be certain to put up quite a fight as they attempt to reach the WPIC semifinals for the first time in team history.

Elsewhere in North Prarie, two-time winners West Phoenicia have returned from a one-tournament hiatus and shown few signs of weakness while top-ranked Vekaiyu effortlessly obliterated their group to punch their tickets to the playoffs. Banija and Aggrey-Fynn Land, both regulars contenders in the WPIC, also reached the quarterfinals, with the only real surprise qualifier being the Republicans, who somehow managed to escape Group B. At this point, the Equestrians will likely be underdogs for the rest of the tournament despite most experts predicting their quarterfinal against Darkmania as too-close-to-call. A semifinal berth is realistically the best result Seaponies fans can hope for, but as last year's WPIC showed: anything can happen.

And like that the West Phoenician Mermen have progressed in the Water Polo International Championships after drawing with Northwest Kalactin in game 3 with 8-8. The Mermen played a great game against Northwest Kalactin who seemed determined to win the game in the hopes it would progress them into the competition. The Mermen simply had to attend as they were progressing due to their first 2 games win.

The goals were tit for tat? No team allowing the other to get too much of a lead before the other team caught up. It was not a live or die moment for the Mermen, but it did keep fans happy in the stands watching both teams play a great game of Water Polo.

West Phoenicia next takes on Free Republics in the quaterfinals after a terrific play boosted the into the second spot in their pool, literally knocking out New Lusitania of the game who are ranked 8th and even beating them in their first meet match.
The Mermen have applauded such a great drive the Free Republics team have shown at these Water Polo Championships, but have also said that drive must come to an end if the Mermen are to obtain their third championship win.

Meanwhile in West Phoenician Water Polo news, after this edition all Mermen contracts will be up for renewal. There is talk that some of the squad will retire and allow some fresh West Phoenician blood in the pool. Among those are Kamal Singh who plans to marry and move into sports broadcasting, where he has rumoured to have been offered his own sports show on WP Sports that will have him broadcast Water Polo, Swimming, Diving and other Aquatics Sports.

While other team mates are planning to remain with very lucrative contacts for the next two editions of the international Water Polo Champion.

DISSAPOINTING PERFORMANCES - New Lusitania Exit in the First Round

New Lusitania entered North Prairie with the hope of bettering their record in Water Polo, in their 4th presence, being that the nation did not participate in the 2nd edition in Veikayu. This would be after all, the 5th edition of a struggling tournament, with the debutant North Prairie winning the rights for the tourney unopposed.
However, the point of entering was to reach further than before, namely the final. The same team would be used for the 3rd edition, bar some changes. An altercation in this tournament would be the change of the positioning criteria, following the points the result of games between both teams in this predicament, instead of Goal Difference.

Eastview - No Sight of Glory: New Lusitania 8-10 Free Republics

Their first match would bue in Eastview against the Free Republics, which would be their biggest foe. This nation was also This match was their best by far, the Adamastores entered the tournament winning, scoring the first point, however it would not turn into one way traffic - at least not for us. The Free Republics turned it around, with the halftime result 1-5. New Lusitania responded, leveling the result, 6 all. The result was a cat and mouse game from here on out, in which the Free Republics came on top, with 10 points over 8.
Both Salinas and Jorge da Cruz, said that the team fought well, but that it lacked "something" in defence, but that they could " still go through" and there was " no need to press the panic button, just yet".

THE PANIC BUTTON: New Lusitania 5-9 Veikayu (from Familysave Arena, Durham)

The press in general had given Salinas leeway and not pressing the panic button, just as da Cruz had advised, but a bad result here meant trouble, specially as the odds for a defeat for the Free Republics were unlikely. Unlike the Free Republics, the Veikayu match didn't fool anyone , with them dominating the nation. New Lusitania occasionally butted in with a point or two, but the result did demonstrate what the match had brought to its viewers.

HOPE, HONOUR & REGULATIONS: New Lusitania 18-5 Nicana

New Lusitania came into the last match in last with no points, though a victory would mean qualification. Oh so we thought, one day before one of the assistant coaches remembered about new regulations, figuring out that the Adamastores were playing for Honour and Pride instead of Qualification, as goal difference didn't matter, although a even a win of a 8 win margin would mean anything when you're entering a -6 point difference.
In the pre-match interview, a few of the players assured they would play for the win. One of them said that if they had to play somewhere for pride it would be there.
But where was there? There was the Mountainside Centre @ the lake, a beautiful natural venue, in the nation's largest lake. A game against Nicana would be played here, Salinas tried some of the youngsters he had brought in to give a rejuvenation to the national side. When the time came to play though, the Adamastores found themselves in the zone , and a team that surprised viewers against the Free Republics, as well as a team that could still qualify, was just surprisingly easily to break.
"It just came like second nature, beautiful play. I just wish we'd felt like that against the other two sides. Who knows, maybe it was this outdoor beauty of this venue that inspired us" - said Peixinho in a post- match interview
This second nature that was referenced, turned the green and blue of a mountainside prairie against the lake, into a green and red - national colours of New Lusitania - as they, quite simply slaughtered the opposition.
" They fought valiantly but at one point you could just see they were tired. I would like to say that they should exit with their heads held high, as they have done more than most" - commented the goalkeeper Peixoto - " Though the same advice could be given to us, I feel that although our entry was dissapointing, truth be told, but in the end we actually played well. We'll be getting ready to better for the 6th edition already.
In any normal case we would qualify on goal difference ahead of the Free Republics after the biggest win in the national side's history, but the head-to-head criteria preferred by the hosts, had, as per our quintessential luck, knocked us out of the tournament prematurely. A good tournament up to now in all however.
---
Although we are eliminated, the quarter finals are tomorrow. Stay tuned for a national favourite the Equestrian States, as they play Darkmania in Eastview, as well as favourites West Phoenicia against the "lucky" (so say some people in the Lusitanian streets) Free Republics, which have been a strong side all tournament long, from the beautiful Cobblestone Lake mountainside on STL 4. Follow the other two matches which are no less of quality clashes on STL Sport 3, with two other title contenders, Aggrey-Finn against Veikayu
from the capital, Stonebridge; and Razenthuria against Banija from Spring Lake in the PUC Entertainment Centre. Still lots more to come in the road to the final, as well as another quality sports weekend with International Football and Racing coming to you as well on your national broadcasting company, the STL. Have a nice weekend it's all from us, stay tuned for today's roundup...

OOC: Didn't even know this was happening, only discovered because of Newmanistan's comment in the Discussion thread. I think North Prairie has done a good job hosting, but I feel that in future the tournament needs to be better publicised - both this and the previous editions had low amounts of RPs, proving the lack of general knowledge that the competition is taking place at that moment.

The West Phoenician Mermen are one step closer to the grand final after going up against Free Republics in the quarter finals and beating them 12-9.

Scott Mare was the star of the day scoring 6 of the 12 goals for the team. Time and time again Scott Mare has proven to be one of the best players on the team. At one point 2 Free Republic players were guarding him from obtaining the ball.

As Captain of the team Scott Mare's continued involement in Water Polo is still up in the air, with no word of whether he will resign a new contract. The West Phoenician Olympic Commitee is putting pressure on him to stay involved with the sport in the hopes that West Phoenicia can pull off a gold win in Water Polo at the next Olympics.

Scott Mare and his agent are in continued discussion. A grand final win with Scott Mare at the helm would surely add perks to woo Scott to stay with the Mermen for another season.

The Mermen will next take on Banija, a nation that has clobbered them in Lacrosse, so it is always a delight to clobber them back in Water Polo.

Fans are bracing for the Mermen to take the win in the semis and for Vekaiyu to beat Equestrian States. So the Mermen can step up and take revenge on Vekaiyu for the 3rd cycle defeat that saw The Mermen lose against Vekaiyu.

Seaponies Oust Defending Champions to Reach Semifinals
by Lisa Lavender

Water Polo International Championships
Image Equestrian States 8, Image Darkmania 6

EASTVIEW, North Prarie - The Equestrian States national water polo team has qualified for the semifinals of the WPIC for the first time after upsetting title holders Darkmania 8-6 in the quarterfinals. The Seaponies built what would prove to be an insurmountable lead early against the Darkmanians, powered by standout forward Coralita's five goals. A valiant late effort by the defending champions fell short and the Equestrians finally clinched a spot in the tournament semifinals after being eliminated in the quarterfinals the previous two years.

Next up for the Seaponies is none other than Vekaiyu, the multiverse's current top-ranked team that is heavily favored to not only beat the Equestrian States but win the whole tournament. Most experts are predicting this will be the end of the line for the Seaponies as the gap in talent between them and Vekaiyu will likely be enough for the favorites to reach their third final in four tournament appearances. Meanwhile, Banija and West Phoenicia will be battling for the other spot in the Final, the latter determined to prove their absence from last year's tournament was little more than a hiccup in their path to what they hope will be a third WPIC title.
