Statistics before February 29th, 2016?

I'm aware that a significant world census update took place on 29th February, 2016. Were all nation/region statistics logged before this point in time permanently erased?

Stats were not logged at all before that point. Although looking at old newsposts it was actually February 10th that historical statistics started being sorted. So nothing was deleted, because there was nothing to delete

The new features were unveiled on that day but the rollout took place on 28 February 2016: I know because my census score histories only go back that far.

As others have said, the detailed stat history we have now didn't exist before that time. The only thing we had was the Civil Rights/Economy/Political Freedom graph that you can see on your basic trend page. If I remember correctly, this change was part of the "Fast Issues" overhaul of the issues system.
