LIFE IN MASBURG [OOC/OPEN]

Hi all,

This is my RP Life in Masburg. Masburg is a fictional region that was occupied for a long time by a foreign power. Now it has been liberated but is divided in two separate nations. However this split was not even. The South was alot wealthier, because it consisted of the major cities including the historical capital, Denil. The terrian in the South was flat sutaible for farming and whle the North is mountaineous. The only port of the pennensula also can under Soutgern control. North Masburg and South Masburg. U can choose which country to live in. Whoever is first to join a country will be made the first leader of the respective country.

Life in North is highly militaristic. All men r drafted even in peacetime. Even women are trained to be rough. This is because not many other economic activities can be practiced due to rough terrain and absence of bid city centres. The Leader is not elected and rules for life. He is preparing the nation for war to seize the realitively wealthier South and hence is importing military equiptment and basic nessicities to survive. As the country is Communist there is not wastage of resources and all means of production r controlled by the government i.e. Supreme Leader. There is high patriotism and all the people r loyal to thier leader. The currency is the Sopee which has a fixed exchange rate of $1=20 Sopee.

Life in the South is different. There is little focus on military. The President is elected. The nation is poor now but it can become richer as it trades with other nations. It has a capitalist economy so anyone can start a business and sell in the market. There is high wastage and little control on demerit goods. Some foreigners are investing. It's currency in Hark which has a free floting exchange rate and currently at $1=170 Hark.

"Good Morning, my fellow South Masburgians. I am ur President John Nelson. On this day I am proud to announce that we will be launching our first programme since our independence. This programme, the Nelson Scheme, will focus to attract new citizens. The first three points r given below
1) No tarrifs on imported capital equiptment
2) Subsidising any new business
3) Starting some public cooperations to provide goods and services to the citizens

Additional points will be added as new citizens come but I hope this is will attract more citizens to our nation and encourage them to contribute to the economy.

After hearing about the North's plan to invade us, Generals from all over have assembled to try to defend thier nation and people from communist tyranny.

MILITARY CONFERENCE

War Room, Denil, South Masburg

Gentlemen, this is a very serious situation. Our military are no match for the communists." said the Prez "They will defeat us soon. What do u recommend?"

One general raised his voice, "It is clear that we can not stop the northern military might so why not we dig a huge line of trenches and bunkers long the border. This will not serve as a permanent line of defence but will buy us time to evacuate our citizens and military equiptment meanwhile we may gather international aid."

"Thats a good idea, it shall be implemented" said the Prez a and most men in the room accepted that.
