Star Wars: Dark Age (OOC/Star Wars)

It is a time of chaos in the galaxy.

50 years after the fall of the First Order, a period of anarchy rules over the galaxy

The Third Galactic Republic barely maintains control over the Core Worlds, while Hutt and Mandalorian warlords rule the outer rim

Planets run themselves, though inefficiently, and crime runs rampant no matter where you go.

The New Jedi have been lost and scattered to the wind as bounty hunters and mercenary orders after the mysterious death of Rey.

With the Galaxy in turmoil, it remains to be seen who will bring order to it once more.

Welcome to Star Wars: Dark Age, an RP which is set in about as close to a post apocalypse as the Star Wars universe gets. War has taken it's toll and the Galaxy is mostly in a state of anarchy and war between what remains of the Republic and various Hutt cartels and Mandalorian clans. Rey's Jedi Order was shattered from inside. Bounty Hunters are the only law outside of various patrolling fleets. Darkness has consumed the Galaxy. The RP starts about 5 years after the beggining of the anarchy. Following the split of the Jedi, multiple bands of them established strongholds throughout the Galaxy, becoming Witcher like figures. Our RP focuses on a band known as the Macists, who value order above all, something that has put them at odds with other more corrupt groups of Jedi who have begun to abandon the ancient teachings. Who are they, what will they do, will they even survive? That's up to you, the players to choose.

1. Do not Godmod, do not metagame, etc.
2. I'm the OP, and as such that means that my word is law. If not me, then my Co-OP's word is law.
3. There is a very real possibility of death later on in the RP. If your character does stupid things in the face of danger, they will die. You have thin plot armour - don't complain.
4. Respect each other when OOC!

NS Name: The Anarcho-Syndicalist Commune
Character Name: Master Tayleck Maldorei
Age: 67
Appearance: Image

Species: Human

Gender: Male

Role in the Macists: Grandmaster and Founder

Non-Jedi Skills: Diplomacy and General Wisdom font. Has some skill in piloting but has lost it to some years.

Jedi Skills: Powerful in the force, but mediocre at Lightsaber fighting. Spends most of his days meditating and ruminating on the Force itself, trying to find greater meaning in it.

Personality: Tayleck's primary and greatest concern at all times is the establishment of Order, rooted in his hate of the anarchy brought by the First Order and their inability to govern. After the fracturing of the Jedi Council, he was the largest advocate for trying to keep the Jedi together and was eventually the last one left, along with those followers who believed in him. He is a kind and compassionate soul, but he has little love for those who would spread Chaos and the Dark Side throughout the Galaxy. His greatest pride is watching those he trained continue to spread his message throughout a chaotic and violent middle rim. He has grown weary in his later years, and has spent much of his time trying unwrap the last mysteries Master Rey left him with before she was killed.

Tag, would a Jedi who encounters a Yesterday's Enterprise-esque temporal rift (or perhaps the World between Worlds, if sticking with a more Star Wars explanation is preferred) during the Clone Wars and finds himself flung into the dark age be alright? (I was thinking that might be kind of a fun way to examine the collapse of galactic civilization through the eyes of a character who remembers the more-or-less good ol' days of the Republic).

Would you be ok with Cryogenics. I don't particularly want to mess around with the World between Worlds as that seems rather wont to change and being put into cryo for emergency purposes and then found in recent years seems like a more reasonable explanation.

Sure, I can work with cryogenics. Would it be alright if I had a clone frozen with him as well, or is the RP focused more specifically on the Jedi?

You could, but it is a very jedi specific RP. There is at least a few arcs where a clone character would be doing next to nothing.

Cool, I'd be fine with the clone being on the sidelines most of the time (or maybe flying a getaway ship or something if needs be). I'll get started on apps for them :)

Tag. Looks mighty interesting.

Could you elaborate a bit more on the Macist teachings though? What specifically do they believe in? What are they trying to accomplish ala the rest of the Galaxy?

The Macist Order is largely dedicated to keeping order above all other things. This is typically a skewed view of order in favor off the republic though I would imagine there are a handful among them that favor any order over the Galaxy. Their main goal is restoring unification, or at least a system of stable states to the Galaxy, beginning with the Mid Rim. They are publicly one of the more light aligned groups of force users though there are more than a fair share of the order who see some necessity in the Dark Side. They do somewhat eschew the spiritual side of the force in favor of combat as they do act as a form of police force in their area of the Mid Rim, however that really wouldn't come into play as it's only been 5 years since the various Jedi orders split up, so not many would have been able to take on Padawans.

NS Name: Brusia
Character Name: Jedi General Martius Shan
Age: 142 (Biological age: 30)
Appearance:
Image

Species: Human
Gender: Male
Role in the Macists: A remnant of a bygone era helping the Macists to restore order to the Galaxy once more.
Non-Jedi Skills: Very talented strategist and tactician, good pilot, well-educated and well-versed in Galactic history
Jedi Skills: Coming from a family with a long history of a strong connection to the Force, Martius has a good deal of potential to develop a strong connection himself, though he currently has done little to tap into that potential; having studied under an Echani Master who had him focus primarily on perfecting his chosen lightsaber forms of Djem So and Soresu. This focus has helped to make him a formidable duelist however, and combined with his extensive experience fighting in the Clone Wars, he is quite deadly with the elegant weapon from his more civilized age.
Personality: An honorable man and devoted adherent to the Jedi Code, Martius was once a dedicated servant of the Jedi Order and the Old Republic. Having lost his Master and a good many friends during the Clone Wars, Martius can be somewhat cold and closed off for fear of making new friends only to lose them (waking to find out that almost everyone he ever knew is now gone is not likely to help that either). That said, those who manage to get past his defense mechanisms will find that Martius is a caring and loyal companion, as dedicated to the people he cares about as he once was to the Republic.
RP Example: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=423997
Bio:
Born into a family with a long history of a strong connection to the Force going back countless generations, it was no surprise when Martius was discovered to be Force Sensitive. He was brought to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant while still an infant, and was raised by the Order. Like many younglings he trained under Master Yoda for much of his youth, until completing his Initiate Trials at the age of 10 and becoming a Padawan. A natural with a lightsaber, he caught the eye of the Echani Jedi Master Meetra Fenni, who would go on to select him as her apprentice. Eager to impress his new Master, Martius was extremely diligent in his training with Master Fenni, and learned a great deal in a short amount of time. Meetra was impressed enough by Martius' performance that she even began to train him in the Echani martial arts in addition to his Jedi studies.

After learning the basics of the lightsaber forms, Martius decided to focus his studies on Form V Djem So, which he studied with his master and further supplemented with the Echani techniques she taught him, and Form III Soresu, which he learned from the Jedi Battlemaster Cin Drallig alongside a number of other Padawans. When not studying on Coruscant, Martius accompanied his Master on a variety of adventures (and the occasional misadventure) ranging from mediating negotiations to battling pirates in the Outer Rim. While studying for his Trials he also became very interested in Galactic History, particularly when he learned that an ancestor of his named Satele had once been none other than the Grand Master of the Jedi Order. History continued to be a major point of interest for him, even after successfully completing his Trials and becoming a Jedi Knight, to the point that he even once considered becoming a full-fledged Jedi Historian.

Martius still stuck with his Master for a few years after attaining Knighthood, feeling there was still much he could learn from her, and the two got in a number of scuffles with the Trade Federation in the years leading up to the Clone Wars. Unfortunately however, those small fights could not prepare them for the scale of combat they would face on the planet of Geonosis. Though Martius would survive the battle, thanks in large part to ARC Commander Maverick, the clone who would later become his XO, his Master was not so fortunate. In the wake of Meetra's death, Martius began devoting every waking moment to honoring her memory and sacrifice by doing everything in his power to preserve the Republic and the Jedi Order by winning the war they were now faced with, and putting an end to the Separatist uprising once and for all.

That devotion would serve him well over the next three years as he led the 53rd in battles all over the Galaxy: from the crystalline skyscrapers of Christophsis, to the shadow world of Umbara, the dense jungles of Felucia, and most everything in between. Martius, Maverick, and the 53rd all fought valiantly in each engagement they found themselves thrust into, and the Jedi General received numerous commendations for his actions in the war. His luck would take a turn for the worse as the war neared its end however; in 19 BBY after winning a hard fought battle to liberate the planet Velmor, Martius and Maverick took a pair of BARC speeders from their base to meet with the planet's King in the capital of Den Velmor only to be intercepted by several dozen commando droids who had survived the battle and fled to the planet's forests.

Though the two fought well and destroyed many of the commando droids, there were ultimately too many to handle on their own and shortly after the two found themselves surrounded, Maverick dropped to the ground after being hit by one of the droids' poison darts and Martius followed soon after. Fortunately, the cavalry arrived and finished off the droids before the two could succumb to the poison, but while the clone medic who attended to them was able to temporarily stabilize them, he could not cure the poison entirely. As the poison incapacitated Martius, leaving him unable to heal himself, the clones rushed their commanders off to the nearest hospital, which unfortunately was unable to cure the two either, determining that only a Jedi trained to heal with the Force would stand a chance of saving the men's lives.

The hospital put the poisoned Jedi and Clone Commander into cryo-cycle stasis pods to keep them alive while the 53rd returned to Coruscant in the hopes of retrieving a Jedi healer. Before they were able to do so however, they found themselves embroiled in a massive battle above the skies of the Republic's capital, where they learned the Separatists had managed to capture the Supreme Chancellor. The 53rd's flagship Victory sustained damage in the battle, and was not able to be repaired before the execution of Order 66, which would leave Martius and Maverick without any healers available to aid them.

A few months after the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire, a freshly recruited battalion of stormtroopers was sent to the planet to locate and eliminate the Jedi, but the by this point the planet's locals had learned of Order 66 and sought to protect the men who had liberated their world. The hospital employees managed to develop an elaborate ruse to fake the deaths of Martius and Maverick, and moved the two into a secret underground research lab while infusing two fake bodies with the Jedi and clone's DNA before desiccating and burying the corpses to fool the Empire into believing that they were dead. The plan worked as intended, and the young Imperial officer sent to find the Jedi bought the ruse, but turned out to be more zealous than the hospital staff had anticipated; even though they had aided the Jedi before it had been illegal to do so, he ordered the entire group publicly executed to show the Galaxy what would happen to anyone who dared help any Order 66 survivors.

With Martius reported dead and the only people who knew his location deceased, he and Maverick would go undiscovered for over a century. The chaos that had affected the Galaxy in that time left the planet of Velmor destitute, and many of its people were forced to scavenge whatever they could find to survive. It was a group of these scavengers which would finally manage to stumble into the research lab where Martius and Maverick were being kept, and after seeing the former's lightsaber, the group assumed he must be a Macist and informed the Macists that they had located a member of their order in the hopes of getting a reward. Now the two men await the arrival of the Macists to finally free them from their frozen tombs and heal them of their poison so that they may return once again to aiding the Galaxy...

NS Name: Brusia
Character Name: ARC Commander CC-1776 "Maverick"
Age: 130 (Biological age: 18, or roughly 36 in clone years)
Appearance:
Image

Species: Mandalorian Clone
Gender: Male
Role in the Macists: Faithfully serves Martius in his attempt to help restore order to the Galaxy.
Non-Jedi Skills: Elite ARC and Clone Commander training, talented tactician, excellent shot, demolitions expert, decent pilot
Jedi Skills: None
Personality: Born and bred solely for the purpose of making war, Maverick is a soldier through and through. While more independent than many of his brothers, Maverick is still every bit as dedicated, loyal, and honorable, and is a great asset to whatever force in which he serves.
RP Example: (Same as above)
Bio:
Like all Clones, CC-1776 was born on Kamino and cloned from Jango Fett's DNA. Like other Clone Commanders, he had been bred to be more autonomous and intelligent than standard clones, but CC-1776's autonomy ended up being considerably greater than most of the other commanders, and he ended up with an independent streak that earned him the nickname "Maverick." Maverick initially received poor ratings during his basic training due to his difficulty working well with others and his outright refusal on several occasions to follow orders he deemed to be "stupid." Still, his exceptional combat and tactical prowess managed to get him through basic by the skin of his teeth, and when he began his Clone Commander training, he truly excelled. Where many Commanders lost men in simulations while holing up and waiting for orders when presented with a tactical opportunity to outflank the enemy, Maverick's natural independent streak allowed him to press the advantage as soon as it presented itself, regardless of orders. While this might've made him a lousy trooper, it made him an excellent leader, and he passed his Commander training with top marks; leading to his being selected for additional training as an ARC Commander.

He completed his ARC training just in time for the Clone Wars to kick off, and he was selected to be among those in the first wave deployed to Geonosis. His first taste of combat was in the planet's arena, where he destroyed over a dozen droids and helped to extract a Jedi Knight by the name of Martius Shan. Once out of the arena, Maverick and the rest of his regiment landed on the main battlefield, and were placed under Shan's command. Though a formidable combatant, Martius had no prior experience fighting an all-out war, and just instinctively ordered the regiment to launch a frontal assault against the droid forces. Maverick immediately pointed out what a terrible idea that was, and after bringing up a map of the battlefield, pointed out a natural trench along the enemy's left flank which would both provide excellent cover and allow them to outflank the droid forces. Martius wisely listened to Maverick's suggestion, and led the regiment through the trench, where the narrow space further gave him an excellent advantage against the battle droids stationed there.

Once they'd reached a good position, the regiment laid down covering fire for the clone troopers advancing against the droid army, which now found itself caught in a crossfire. The droids were soon ordered into a full retreat, and as they fell back, Martius, Maverick, and the rest of the regiment left the trench to aid the rest of the clone forces which were pushing forward to gun them down. As the battle neared it's end however, a B2 super battle droid managed to get a lucky shot off which hit Maverick directly in the gut. The clone collapsed to the ground in pain, but when the B2 moved in for the kill, Martius jumped directly in front of Maverick and deflected its blaster fire away long enough for him to close in and slice the droid in half. Using his Force heal ability, Martius was able to stabilize Maverick's injury, then carried the clone back across the battlefield to a Medevac transport.

The battle was won, and in the aftermath Martius given the rank of Jedi General and placed in command of the 53rd Legion for his actions on the planet, and he quickly chose the now recovered Maverick as his executive officer. The clone had earned the Jedi's trust, and the Jedi had earned the clone's unwavering loyalty. In what little downtime he had, Martius read every text and studied every holocron he could find on the subject of military tactics and strategies, and drilled constantly with Maverick and the rest of the 53rd to be as prepared as possible for whatever battles may come.

That preparation paid off, and along with the infinitely more valuable lessons that firsthand experience on battlefields throughout the galaxy taught, the two became excellent and well regarded commanders. Unfortunately, that experience did not make them invincible however, and a commando droid ambush would leave the two poisoned and nearly dead. For over a century, Maverick and Martius remained sealed within cryo-cycle stasis pods, where they currently wait to be woken once again and return to fight for the good of the Galaxy once more...

I'll have some more resources up tommorrow regarding general timeline of events of the Anarchy leading to the time the rp starts.

Personality: Varian's outlook is more militant and harsher than many of his colleagues, perhaps the result of his upbringing aboard the starship of his father, a Corellian mercenary. I didn't even look at the OP post date, only the more recent one.

I doubt there'll be an RP then. Oh wells

I mean, if there's this much interest, I could whip one up myself!
I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.

Support: Paleo-imperialism, conservatism, libertarianism, Christianity.
Against: Stupid people, resistance to industrial progress, alt-right, any form of government at or beyond socialism.
