Location: 93 (Number on Map)
Population: somewhere around 2.1 million however due to the spread out and disconnected nature of the united provinces it's impossible to be sure.
Capital City: waterkant

Government Info
Government Type: Presidential unitary republic
Brief Explanation of Government: The legislative branch of the Kolumbian government is divided into a bicameral system with the first chamber of the legislature being the Volksraad (People's council) which is comprised of 26 representatives each from one of the 19 provinces that makes up the united provinces. The second component of the legislature is the kamer van het bedrijf (company's chamber) which is composed of 12 representatives from the Kolumbian West India company, a reminder of how the united provinces first came to be, in recent years the company's chamber has become a largely ceremonial institution under the administration of Jan Timmerman with some calling for it to be abolished and the legislative to become a unicameral system.
Ideology: Christian libertarianism, colonialism, conservatism, nationalism
Leader/s: Head of state: President Jan Timmerman | Head of government: Prime minister Dirk Baas
Relations
- Despite the treaty of waterkant, the relations between the Dutch republic and Kolumbia have remained near non-existent with a mutual distrust of one another on both sides of the border. Not to mention that both sides have continuously issued statements of how the other's territories is rightfully their own.

- On the other side of the united provinces are the native states of the Sioux Nation and the Kansas Free State both of which have continuously been involved in a long string of border incidents with Kolumbian settlers who have strayed across the border. The continuing refusal of the Kolumbian government to compensate or even apologise for these incidents has lead to an intense rivalry between Kolumbia and the native states.

- Despite the fact that Kolumbia is largely surrounded by rivals there is still a friendly relationship between them and the American union with both nations finding solidarity in the fact that they both threw off the shackles of a European master, yet the two nations don't have any formal trade deals, many within Kolumbia fear that their nation would simply become a puppet of the union if that were to happen.

Population Info
Brief Description of your people: There is little to distinguish the people of Kolumbia to their Dutch counterparts living just over the border. In the 27 years since independence was achieved Kolumbian language has remained almost entirely like their motherland apart from a few slight differences is spelling and pronunciation. In terms of national spirit however the Kolumbians have developed a strong one, they hold an incredibly strong belief in libertarianism and democracy the only thing that could possibly override these beliefs is their incredibly strong Christian beliefs which they have vowed to spread across the continent.
Religion:Dutch reformed church
Ethnicity: European
Main/Accepted Culture(s):Kolumbian Dutch, Dutch
Other Cultures:English, Spanish, a large number of native populations

Military Info
Army: The Kolumbian army is a rather small force with only 9,000 men wearing the black and white uniform, if this wasn't enough of a headache for the Kolumbian military most of this small force is equipped with weapons dating back to the revolution or even further back to the days of the west India company, the Kolumbian army is also almost entirely lacking in an artillery component with only one artillery battalion to it's name. The Kolumbian army has made up for this by using it's expert knowledge of their terrain to their advantage, secondly the Kolumbian army has placed a specific emphasis on the training of their troops, training them to the utmost degree in fact it is quite a common phrase in the military that goes " 6 months is the average training time for most soldiers, by 6 months a Kolumbian has only just learned how to salute correctly".
total number:9,000
Infantry: 7,000
cavalry:1,000
artillery:400
presidential guard: 600

Another significant proponent of the Dutch military is it's militia which consists of around 13,000 men, these men are mainly just Dutch settlers who have acquired a rifle and have declared themselves a member of the Kolumbian militia, yet these militia may still prove themselves useful as the primary rivals of the united provinces, the native states, are still in the early stages of modernisation and when push comes to shove the miltia may be what pushes the united provinces to victory.
Navy: No sea access boi

Other Info
Brief Description of your Economy: The economy of Kolumbia is almost entirely based of agriculture, it's fertile fields have the potential to turn Kolumbia into one of the leading food producers throughout North America however the poor infrastructure and disconnected nature of Kolumbia has resulted in relatively low crop yields for the nation, however this has not deterred the government from trying to encourage and exploit the sector, offering large subsidies to anyone willing to start up a farm out on the frontier. The second largest industry within Kolumbia is it's natural resources more specifically the lumber industry, the vast chilly forests of Kolumbia are slowly but surely being pushed back as Dutch colonists rush to make a living in the colonial rush. There is a small industry developing in Kolumbia's major industrial areas however the nation is still in the very early stages of industrialisation and it will be a while until it overtakes the agricultural industry.
Goals: Fully industrialise, modernise the military, attain access to the sea, build up infrastructure links within the nation, bring the native states into the fold.
History: In the early 17th century the Dutch republic began it's exploration of the east coast of America, chartering the young and eager Dutch east India company to bring the prosperity that had been found by other European natures in the new world to the Dutch people. Over the course of a number of expeditions the West India company set up a number of forts and trading posts in an area they called Nieuw Nederland, in this area they found a number of native tribespeople who they set up a trade in furs with them. As more stories filtered back to the homeland about the wealth and fortune that their friends and family had acquired across the Atlantic and soon a great migration of Dutch people moved towards the new world, cities such as New Amsterdam began to pop up along the coast and all the while the Dutch West India company grew in both wealth and strength as they began to exert more and more control over the colonies, they had their own administrators, courts and even their own military.

In 1664 the Dutch colonial ambitions in America came under a severe threat, an English naval expedition, ordered by prince James, Duke of York, had come to the shores of Nieuw Nederland demanding that the colonies be turned over to the English, fortunately for the Dutch colonies their government had made an alliance with the Swedish in order to prevent such a thing from happening, as both had colonies in the region they would rather like to keep a hold on. While New Amsterdam was under blockade a joint Dutch-Swedish rushed out to meet the English forces. After a short skirmish the English fleet was forced to retreat in shame and humiliation. Following this incident the Dutch West India company continued it's waves of expansion. By the early 18th century the Dutch dominion stretched from New Amsterdam al the way to the great lakes, however it became increasingly inaccurate to say that the colonies were controlled by the Dutch government.

In the years since the Dutch first landed on the New world the Dutch west India had grown from a minor colonial company into a massive juggernaut, what some would call a nation in it's own right due to the massive amount of control they had over the Dutch colonies and as the Dutch West India company exerted their power more and more over the colonies the Dutch government grew increasingly concerned that same fate the befell the Spanish colonies would befall their own. In 1819 the Dutch government demanded that the current head of the Dutch West India company step down and be replaced with a far more loyal individual. The company head ,William De Vries, refused and declared that the West India company no longer had any obligation to serve the Dutch state and so the United provinces of Kolumbia was born under the leadership of the executive council .

When the war first began the United Provinces had the upper hand, company forces were easily able to overwhelm Dutch garrisons and allow the united provinces to easily take practically all of the Dutch colonies in the new world, however one thing that William De Vries neglected to acknowledge is the strength of the Dutch navy, for when the Dutch navy finally arrived in the Americas with an army of European soldiers aboard the pittance of merchant vessel and hired privateers that made up the Kolumbian fleet was easily wiped aside and by the start of 1821 New Amsterdam had been retaken by Dutch forces who were now proceeding to take all of Nieuw Nederland. By the end of 1821 William De Vries and the rest of the executive council ordered for the retreat of Kolumbian forces to the frontier, and the capital of the United Provinces was relocated to the small town of Waterkant. As Dutch European forces continued their advance they began to grow bogged down, the original momentum of their assault was gone and the Kolumbian's greater knowledge of their environment allowed them to inflict heavy casualties upon the Dutch.

Dutch forces could no longer continue the advance yet the Kolumbian forces were unable to push back and reclaim their territory, a stalemate that neither side could overcome. Gradually the Dutch government grew less and less interested in completely destroying the United Provinces and so in 1823 the treaty of Waterkant was signed, declaring that the United Provinces was henceforth an independent state however Nieuw Nederland was to remain under Dutch control and the United Provinces was to only hold onto the frontier provinces that it had secured during the revolution. In the aftermath of the revolution the United Provinces was unfortunately extremely unstable, after only 2 months protesters were gathered outside the company house demanding the dissolution of the executive council and the creation of the democratic government. Unable to withstand the pressure from the protestors William De Vries declared that the executive council was to be replaced by a Unitary republic, the newly renamed Kolumbian west India company still retained some measure of control over the government through the company's chamber.

Today the Kolumbian state still survives with relative stability however new revolutionary ideas from Europe are now beginning to have an effect on the youth of Kolumbia. Not only this but an increasingly jingoistic streak has passed through the Kolumbian people as Kolumbian look to the fertile lands of the native states as new Kolumbian territories and there are many an opportunistic officer and general ready to protect that claim. Yet Kolumbia is but one American power among many and not a particularly strong one at that yet there is still the ever present hope of potential that one day Kolumbia will stand as an equal among the great powers of Europe and America.

Along a slow river a rather small wooden boat was carrying Hans Fischer, a recently hired employee of the Chinese branch of the Opel corporation, who had been called to the capital of the AOG by Albert Muller, one of the major directors of the AOG. The boat eventually reached a small ramshackle wooden pier that was jutting into the river like a splinter. On this pier was a German man dressed in a full black suit despite the tropical temperature of the area around him. Hans was helped onto the pier by the Chinese rower who he had payed to bring him to this rather isolated part of the AOG and when he finally managed to clamber aboard the pier he began to wish he had come better dressed for the occasion for while the man in front of him was wearing an implacable black suit, he was wearing a that of what you expect of a filthy syndicalist.

"I trust that you are Mr Fischer" was the German man's unexpectedly enthusiastic question for Hans.

"Yes I've just arrived from Guangzhaou, anyways i'm here to meet Albert Muller so could you please give me directions to the Board of director's office it would be much appreciated"

The German man then gave Hans a rather odd look and said "Ah they mustn't of told you, you see I am Mr Muller, It is common knowledge here in the AOG that I do like to meet my employees face to face, it gives a me a good understanding of their character."

Hans was at first taken aback by this new information, in Germany he had rarely got to meet the enigmatic figures who ran the companies that he had worked for nevertheless he was quickly able to regain his composure and ask his next question "Well shouldn't we be going to the board of director's office, after all I imagine the climate there is far more agreeable with us there than it here"

Mr Muller than gave Hans a cheery smile and said "Well you see I was thinking that we should take a stroll through Guilin, in order to show you the current state of things and why I brought you here in the first place."

As Mr Muller gave him a tour around the 'city' Hans began to notice what Mr Muller had meant when he said that he would be showing him why he should be here. The roads he was walking down were made of nothing more than dirt, the houses around him were ramshackle at best and looked as if one storm would quite simply cast them aside and the dejected people on the streets looked as if they had been recently mugged. Perhaps the only building within thee entire city that fell into the area that Hans would call acceptable for Human habitation which was the AOG board of director's headquarters. It was at times like this that Hans could see what the godless syndicalists were talking about.

Mr Muller then stopped them in the middle of a quite busy residential area and then produced a small folded piece of paper from his pockets and then said to Hans "I hope you can now see the reason why we need well educated Germans like yourself in order to bring the AOG up to German standards, well at least until our education initiatives begin to bear fruit, now take this."

He then handed that small piece of paper to Hans which upon closer inspection proved to be a plan which outlined the ways to begin improving the infrastructure of the AOG. It included the creation of multiple factories in the Guangzhaou area, the building of railroads between the six provinces that the AOG controlled, the improvement of multiple urban centres throughout the AOG, the ones that were to be focused on were Guilin, Guangzhaou, Changsha and Nanchang, finally it outlined the importation and employment of a great deal of German engineers. As Hans was looking through these papers Mr Muller decided to interrupt his reading " Believe me it took a great deal if work to get the board of directors to agree with me on this proposition, most of them only want China for it's abundant resources not for the possibility of having an extremely powerful industrial state under their control, anyways I would like you to be in charge of this project."

Hans was at first completely shocked by this statement, Mr Muller continued on speaking talking all about his housing and what his wage would be however he had failed to register what was being said due to his initial shock. He was finally knocked out of said shock when Mr Muller asked "So do you accept my proposal to you, I can assure you that both the Opel corporation and the entirety of China would be extremely grateful.."

"Yes of course I accept!" Was Hans's quite immediate reply. For a long time now he had wished to have a position of some kind of importance within the em;ire and now he finally did.

State of the AOG
The Southern Chinese industrial development plan which had just been approved by the board of directors was now proceeding ahead at full speed with massive amounts of funding pouring in from all corporations who were represented on the board of directors. Companies such as Mauser, Opel and Krupp were also making efforts to introduce new agricultural and industrial techniques to the AOG's economy. The population of the AOG were now also beginning to benefit from the wealth of their corporate masters as educational initiatives and multiple public works now were finally receiving some funding.

The head of state for the AOG, Alexander von Falkenhausen, was now pushing for the greater development of the AOG's military with recruitment and training of the Chinese population and the importation of German weapons. The AOG military was also now receiving it's first armoured tank division which was to positioned with the majority of the AOG military on the border of the Yunnan clique, which many expected to be the main target for the AOG's new expansionist doctrine.

Alas not all things were chugging along so smoothly within the AOG as the republican movement was quickly gaining vast amounts of popularity as the mass industrialisation of the AOG while leaving many people very wealthy was also leaving many people in poverty and out of poverty grew dissent and crime. In order to contain this huge threat the board of directors are soon to meet in order to decide weather or not some kind of secret police should be commissioned in order to keep German control within their small corner of China. I love your app so far, though unless you really want it to be sparsely populated, the United Provinces can have more population, Ohio alone has far above your estimate in 1848.

Just lemme know what you want to do with your population, also the location of Waterkant would be nice, and I will have no issue accepting this.

I love your app so far, though unless you really want it to be sparsely populated, the United Provinces can have more population, Ohio alone has far above your estimate in 1848.

Just lemme know what you want to do with your population, also the location of Waterkant would be nice, and I will have no issue accepting this.

I've upped the population a bit and Waterkant is roughly where modern day Chicago is, and with that I do humbly present my app to you.

Symbols: Flag. CoA.
Location: 38
Population: 3,219,000
Capital City: Athens

Government Info
Government Type: Constitutional Parliamentary Monarchy
Brief Explanation of Government: The King of Hellas fills the role of head of state and has the sole authority to appoint and dismiss the Archon. Either the King or the Archon can present a bill to the Boule, which is a popularly elected legislature which was consisted by all men over the age of 20. The Boule (also referred to the House of Commons), along with the Areopagus(also referred to as the House of Barons), a hereditary body formed from the Greek, Serbian, and Bulgarian nobility and bishops, must approve all bills for them to pass into law. The Archon, along with two other Junior Archons, one of whom is named by the Boule, the other by the Areopagus, may veto any bill that the King attempts to pass.
Ideology: Conservatism, nationalism, monarchism, revanchism, Megali Idea
Leader/s: Toumazos Cochrane, King of the Hellenes, 10th Earl of Dundonald, 1st Marquess of Atacama, Lord High Admiral of the Royal Hellenic Navy, Vice Admiral of the Chilean Navy (honorary rank)
Archon of The Kingdom Anthony Gabris
Junior Archon of The Kingdom Alexandros Kontos of the House of Barons
Junior Archon of the Kingdom Bachus Mithros of the House of Commons

Relations: The Kingdom of Hellas enjoys good relations with most of Europe, having not had the time to acquire bad blood with any states and indeed having been supported in its independence war by many of them. Persia is viewed as an ally of convenience against the Turks, while everything further afield is irrelevant, although the King personally is liked in Chile, Argentina and Colombia due to his assistance in their wars of independence.

Population Info
Brief Description of your people: Greeks are a hardy and extremely nationalistic lot; after centuries under the Ottoman Empire, their newfound freedom and nation
Religion: The vast majority are Orthodox Christians.
Ethnicity: Greek is the largest ethnicity, with Bulgarians forming a notable majority.
Main/Accepted Culture(s): Greek, Bulgarian
Other Cultures: Serbian,Turk

Military Info
Army: 35,000. Although small, the Greek Army is extremely experienced from its wars against the Ottomans and motivated by the desire to see the Megali Idea achieved.
5,000 are a part of a paramilitary organization known as the "Aegan Defense League", a marine faction which is dedicated to the defense of the islands in the Aegan Sea.
Navy: 16 ships of the line, 27 smaller ships (frigates/brigs/sloops). The Greek Navy in many ways owes its position to the King of the Hellenes, Toumazos Cochrane, one of the best naval commanders of the current era.

Other Info
Brief Description of your Economy: The Greek economy is highly agrarian/artisan-based; the Industrial Revolution has yet to take off in any way whatsoever. A single small railway, between the port of Piraeus and Athens, mainly used to bring goods inland, does exist however.
Goals: Achieve the Megali Idea. Educate South Slavs about why they are impossible and they're just confused Illyrians and Thracians which are just Greeks who happen to live outside of Hellas proper, just like the Ionian Greeks or the Cappadocian Greeks.
History: Greek history itself only begins with the Hellenic Revolution of 1822, and the following Independence War until 1833. Before 1822, Greece was under the rule of the Ottomans, another province in their empire, conquered in the years after the fall of Constantinople in 1453. In the years after the fall of Byzantium, some Greeks became bandits, known as klephts, who fought the Ottomans in the mountainous regions of Greece for some time afterwards. Although little more than bandits, klephts could be suggested to have kept the idea of an independent Greece alive. Over the 1700s lands previously held by the Sultan were given out as hereditary estates, ending the status of many Greeks as freemen and effectively turning them into serfs. The Napoleonic Wars destabilised the Dual Kingdom, and Greeks on both the Ionian Islands and Crete rose up in revolt, seeking to establish their own independent states as the first step on a road to an independent Greece in 1815 after the Congress of Vienna returned the islands to Dual Kingdom.

Although the Dual Kingdom crushed the uprising, the ringleaders escaped to mainland Greece or the Aegean Islands, where they began to agitate for an uprising against the Ottomans.

At this point, Thomas Cochrane must be mentioned. A British aristocrat who served first in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars until he resigned his commission in 1809 to focus on domestic politics; however, his failure to achieve his aims of parliamentary reform, along with his lack of allies over his criticism of the conduct of the Napoleonic Wars and corruption within the Navy led to him retiring from British domestic politics after his expulsion from Parliament over his involvement in the Great Stock Exchange Fraud of 1814. He traveled to Brazil and fought in the wars of independence of Chile and Argentina against the French, being named the first Vice-Admiral of Chile for his conduct in that war. After the conclusion of those wars he fought with the Colombian Navy in the Colombian Revolution of 1819-1821, fighting alongside Simon Bolivar and absorbing many of his political ideas. In 1821, with the end of the Colombian Revolution, Cochrane returned to England briefly before the Greek revolutionaries, having heard of his service in South America, approached him with an offer to lead the Greek Navy in a war of independence against the Ottomans. Cochrane agreed, and traveled to Greece in 1821.

He spent the rest of 1821 as a tourist, learning Greek, travelling to the ancient sites of the Parthenon, Sparta and Mount Olympus while meeting with local revolutionaries and those who had fled from the Ionian Islands or Crete after the attempted uprisings there. After mainland Greece, Cochrane traveled the Aegean Islands, meeting those who would later form the core of his navy. He got into contact with those he remembered from his wars in South America and a few remaining political contacts in the UK, asking for their assistance in the coming war.

The revolt of 1822 was meant to be a short affair; it wasn't. Alexander Ypsilantis and his Sacred Band, formed from Greeks in Moldavia, Wallachia and Odessa, invaded Wallachia from the Commonwealth, calling on all 'Christians of the Danube' to rise up against the Ottomans. The Prince of Wallachia declares his support for the revolt, and Ypsilantis and his army march southwards to seize Brăila while Theodoros Kolokotronis, having unified and trained several bands of klephts into something resembling a modern army rose up in the Peloponnese. Demetrios Ypsilantis took the fortress of Larissa from the Ottomans while Athanasios Diakos led an uprising in Central Greece, taking Thebes. Cochrane spent the first year on the island of Hydra, forming the Greek Navy, which primarily used fireships and the experienced seafarers of the Aegean Islands to achieve several notable victories over the Ottoman Navy early in the war.

By the end of the year, despite several defeats including the Sacred Band being forced to withdraw into Macedonia after a defeat at Brăila by the Ottoman Army and at Alamana, the victory of Odysseas Androutsos at Gravia and the martyrdom of Athanasios Diakos inspired the revolution further, in addition to the fall of Athens in June. Throughout 1823 and 1824 most of the battles were naval as the Ottoman Navy attempted to reinforce the Aegean Islands, attempts that were continually frustrated by Cochrane's navy and led to many of the islands being taken by the end of that year. The joining of the Dual Kingdom into the war in 1824, alongside the revolt of Albania, saw the balance of the war shift in favour of Greece.

Thessaloniki fell in 1826, and the Sacred Band entered Bulgaria in 1827 but had limited success. There was some debate within the Greek revolutionaries about whether to push on to Constantinople; the Albanians has achieved their independence and occupied Northern Epirus, which many claimed as rightfully Greek, while the Bulgarians appeared to be unlikely to launch a revolt of their own accord. An Ottoman counter-offensive in 1828-29 forced the Greek armies back to Central Greece, cutting off the Sacred Band in Macedonia. The Sacred Band held its own against the Ottomans until 1832, aided by probing offensives against Ottoman armies further south and naval raids on the Asian ports of the Ottomans, and were able to fight their way back to Central Greece in 1833 although Macedonia was lost.

By 1833, under pressure from the Commonwealth, Dual Kingdom and United Kingdom both sides agreed to peace on the terms of status quo uti possidetis in the Treaty of Samos. The forces behind Greek independence, having not organised a formal civilian government until this point, convened the Convention of Athens, at which Thomas Cochrane, taking the name Toumazos Cochrane was named as the first King of the Hellenes as a candidate acceptable to most great powers, having become extremely hellenised during his years fighting there.

Greece spent the next 6 years repairing and most importantly rearming in preparation for a second war against the Ottomans while Cochrane, with his ideas of democracy inspired by his time in the British Parliament and South America, set up a system of government modeled loosely after what Boliviar envisioned. The Second Ottoman-Greek War of 1839-1843 was incited by an uprising in Thessaloniki. The reorganised Greek Army and Navy recaptured much of central Greece in 1839-1840, with Thessaloniki being liberated in 1841 after Cochrane defeated an Ottoman fleet sent to relieve the city. The Sacred Band marched again into Macedonia and then Bulgaria in 1842 while Greek armies marched on to the Évros river, but an Ottoman victory at the Évros and great power intervention in 1843 again saw a second peace signed at Samos.

In the years since, Greece has prepared for a Third Ottoman-Greek War, as the Megali Idea has not yet been achieved and only then can Northern Epirus, the Ionian Islands, Crete and Cyprus be returned to Greece proper once the Great Enemy has been defeated.

Generic Info
Nation Name: Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
Symbols:
Image

Location: 85
Population: 1,732,411
Capital City: Caracas

Government Info
Government Type: Federal presidential republic
Brief Explanation of Government: The Venezuelan government is ran slightly similar to the US political system, as it is a federal republic too. However there are several deviations.

Executive Branch
The President and his Cabinet are the sole inhabitants of this branch. The President, the leader of the branch and the nation, is the head of government and state. He has the power to pass, reject, and edit all bills, treaties, and foreign communiques. He is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces but is subject to the discretion of the Board of the Commanding Officers, a group of the highest ranking officers of the Armed Forces. The President is also capable of dissolving the Bolivarian National Assembly should a majority of the Justices of the Supreme Court and the Leaders of the National Assembly’s two houses support it (six people).

The President also has several other basic functions, common in the presidential system, such as the power to create executive orders that have the force of law; to declare a state of emergency; preside over traditional and ceremonial events; to appoint his cabinet members and/or reorganize the cabinet with the permission of a majority of the BNA; to preside over the National Treasury and economic/fiscal policies; to grant pardons; and more.

The Cabinet has a role nigh-identical to the United States Cabinet, namely advising the President on matters related to the purposes of their respective Federal Ministries and on new laws and policies passed by or circulating in the BNA.

Legislative Branch
The legislature of Venezuela is called the Bolivarian National Assembly. The National Assembly is made up of 165 assemblymen (montador(es)) that are elected by proportional representation. Voting is limited to universal male suffrage. However there is a movement in favour of universal suffrage that is growing.

The Assembly meets in legislative sessions that last from Janurary to November, with the two-month interregnum covering the time that the triennial General Elections and quinquennial Presidential Elections/inauguration occur. The Assembly meets weekly (about fifty times) throughout each session to debate, draft, and pass legislation.

The Bolivarian National Assembly is split into two houses, the Bolivarian Senate and Bolivarian Chamber of Deputies. The Chamber, like in the US House of Representatives, is the lower house of the National Assembly and has 101 members. The House has some powers such as being able to block the Senate’s bills with a two-thirds vote; proposing bills regarding revenue, budgets, etc.; vote to impeach a President (which requires unanimity); and standard voting and debating rights on a variety of topics covered by Legislative Committees.

The Senate is also partly modelled off the US Senate. It has the power to review Presidential appointments and foreign treaties; call for impeachments; vote on legislation after the Chamber does (although it can't propose them itself); amongst other basic powers.

The National Assembly has three political parties as of 1848—the Conservative Party (the largest, with 76 seats), the New Age Party/Liberal Party (with 53 seats), and the Sempre Revolução Party (with 36 seats).

Judicial Branch
The Supreme Court of the Republic of Venezuela is the highest court in the nation. It has eight justices based off of seven Judicial Districts and a Supreme Justice. The court hears all cases that test the Constitution, which are recommended to it by all subordinate levels of courts in the Venezuela judicial system, that directly affect the stability of legitimacy of the Venezuelan government, or which require major changes to national laws/legislation.

The justices of the Supreme Court serve life tenures and are appointed by the President, upon review by the National Assembly. While described as a nonpartisan institution, many justices have gone through polarized appointment procedures and even have/had membership in the ruling party or the party of the President. The Sempre Revolução party and a faction of the Conservative Party seek to reverse this.

Ideology: Social conservatism, nationalism, Catholicism, republicanism, federalism, patriarchism, industrialism, capitalism
Leader/s: President José Tadeo Monagas
Relations
Good relations: Britain, France
Neutral relations: Most neighbor-countries, Iberia, Columbia
Poor relations: Brazil

Population Info
Brief Description of your people: The Venezuelan people, originating from Portuguese settlers, share many similarities with Portuguese culture. Families, traditions, etc. have been shaped and built around Catholic morals and traditions. Families and society at large are patriarchal and conservative. However due to years of Venezuela being an underdeveloped nation, more liberal views have entered Venezuelan households and other parts of life as the need for and interest in modernization has swept the nation.
Religion: Christianity (predominantly Catholic)
Ethnicity: Portuguese
Main/Accepted Culture(s): Hispanic cultures
Other Cultures: English and Chinese cultures

Military Info
Army: 43,376 soldiers; supplemented with common muskets as the standard issue rifle; several thousand cannons are owned by the Army; >300 caravans are used for logistical support.

The Bolivarian Army of Venezuela is not the best Army, however a combination of its strategists’, officers’, et cetera’s knowledge of the Venezuelan terrain and inherited Portuguese tactics ensures it is disciplined and trained well enough that it can perform its duty at the bare minimum.

The BAV has four types of military districts, called Levels in Venezuelan military lingo. The Level System was created in 1843 to organise the units of the BAV and ensure simple and efficient command-to-unit and unit-to-unit communication across the country.

The first and largest is the Provincial Level, which coincide with the actual provinces of Venezuela. There are thirteen Provincial Level districts in Venezuela.

The second level is the Regional Level, which take up an equal amount of space in each PL, around a sixth. There are seventy-eight Regional Level districts in all of Venezuela.

The third level is known as the Local Level, and they all take up an equal amount of space in each Regional Level (an eighth of each Regional Level). Therefore a total of 624 Local Level districts exist in Venezuela.

Finally, there is the Municipal Level. This level usually includes one or more settlements, sometimes none at all besides a barracks or other military facility that the constituent units of this Level reside in. They all take up an equal one-twelfth of the superseding Local districts, and - nationally - one-five hundred seventy-sixth of the country. The Municipal Level districts number 7,488.

Alongside the military districts are the Venezuelan formation system. There are a total of five formations in the BAV. Each formation is ten times larger than the prior, but each constituent formation can have a varying number of members. This is called the Venezuelan Metric. The formations, from largest to smallest, are a division, regiment, company, platoon, and squad.

Divisions contain 3,000 to 5,000 soldiers each. Due to their size it is rare to see more than two divisions in a Provincial Level district, and all PL districts (excluding Caracas and Guiana) have one division.

Regiments contain 500-800 soldiers. Several regiments make a division, four at minimum and eight at maximum. There are ninety-two regiments in Venezuela, and most are situated in strategic geographic positions and in between cities, as they are large enough to sufficiently protect either.

Companies have 100-250 soldiers. Two to eight companies can form a regiment. Although most regiments contain three to six companies. There are a total of 536 companies in Venezuela.

Platoons are the second smallest formations. Only 20-60 soldiers make up companies. Around six platoons make up a company. Platoons are usually used, individually, for small raids or domestic/foreign incursions on hostile installations. 3,216 platoons exist throughout Venezuela, and due to their numbers they are not categorized simply by being given numbers (i.e. there isn’t a 453rd Platoon). They are split into twenty-four groups, designated A-Z, which contain 134 platoons each. So fictional platoon 453 would be designated Platoon C83. This system was implemented in 1844.

Finally, there are the squads. Squads have 5-20 soldiers each. Squads are not frequently used in strategic planning and day-to-day military operations, and their function is set more towards military organization. Squads have no designation system and any systems which do exist likely vary on a platoon-to-platoon (or larger formation) basis. While hard to number, it is estimated that at a given moment sixteen to seventeen thousand squads exist.

Navy: The Bolivarian Navy of Venezuela is the official naval force of Venezuela. It is composed of 3,154 seamen. It only has thirteen ships. They are decent quality facsimiles of Portuguese ship designs. Two are fourth-rate ships, four are fifth-rate, and the remaining seven are sixth-rate ships.

The sailors of the BNV are, like the soldiers of the BAV, trained off of reproduced Portuguese naval tactics - their ability to execute this tactics are good enough, making the BNV of good enough quality that their sailors can perform their duties loyally and as best as they can.

There is no standard organization of the BNV as it is too small to have one. Due to its size the terms Venezuelan Fleet and the Fleet of Venezuela have become synonymous with the entirety of the navy. The only organization in the BNV is the Naval Sector system, which splits the coastline and sovereign waters of Venezuela into forty, seventy kilometer long Sectors. These Sectors are subdivided into 100 forty-nine square kilometer Regions.

Of the forty Sectors only Sectors 1, 2 (the Gulf of Venezuela), 5 (in between the ABC Islands), 7, 8 (Puerto Cabello, Caracas, and the important parts of the Caracas Province), 11, 12 (Puerto La Cruz and the Ilha de Margarita), and 15 (the Gulf of Paria) are permanently guarded by the Venezuelan navy due to their strategic, geographic, and politico-economic importance.

Other Info
Brief Description of your Economy:
Type of Economy: Venezuela is a primarily agrarian country. There are nearly two million acres of farmland and rangeland in Venezuela, which feed the 1.7 million inhabitants of it. All of this produces around a million and a half pesos worth of agricultural goods, nearly three-fourths of the economy.

The remaining quarter, around several hundred thousand pesos, is produced by the small but growing industrial sector of the economy. Nearly thirty percent of the workforce is employed by the industrial sector. Due to Venezuela’s increasing interest in industrialization, the industrial sector occupies two percent more of the economy biannually, or if it is a good year, annually.

Exports/Imports: Venezuela has vast, proven deposits of gold, iron, and gems. These resources are heavily sought after by foreign powers, such as Britain, Iberia, France, and some American countries. Venezuela is also rich in coffee, cocoa, fish, and some other high-demand agricultural products. In recent years Britain has become a major importer of Venezuelan coffee, with France starting to following suit.

Venezuela primarily imports products used in industrial applications and medicine, plus luxury goods. Most industrial products are imported from Britain, medicine comes from France and Britain, and luxury goods are imported from all across Europe (Britain, France, the Italian states, Iberia, etc.).

Currency: The Venezuelan peso is the current currency used by Venezuela. The peso’s symbol is $. It has a purchasing power of $26/£1.

Goals: Industrialize Venezuela; liberalize (or centralize (varrying between factions)) the government; open up Venezuela to the world as a hub for trade; re-establish a superstate with Colombia (Bolivarian Republic of Gran Colombia); improve relations with the British; reconnect with Europe; become a major power in South America; develop infrastructure

History: What is today known as Venezuela was colonized by Portugal in the late-18th century. It remained a colony until the early-19th century, when the famous Venezuelan revolutionary Simon Bolivar lead the War for Independence.

The nation of Gran Colombia was established afterwards by Bolivar shortly after. Existing from 1824-1839, it became progressively more unstable following Bolivar’s death. In 1839, Gran Colombia’s build up of internal strife caused it to collapse and it devolved into a one-year civil war.

Venezuela emerged as its own nation in 1840, lead by the old but renowned Independence-era General José Monagas. Since 1840, Venezuela has grown as a nation. It has pursued industrialization, reconnection with the Western/European world, and its growth as its own nation. President-General Monagas rules the country through a centralized government, but who's old age has created a semiofficial oligarchy ran by the Cabinet.

As Monagas’ hourglass empties, Venezuela teteers on the brink of chaotic modernity or hectic dissolution.

I know ya want to increase OOC activity, so how about an interesting, but minor question?

What would you say are the most notable demographic and cultural shifts in the Old World compared to IRL? Or, at least the most interesting.

imo the most notable would be the demographics in the New World, specifically the places colonized by the Far East especially. The philosophies and ideologies that would develop based off of the cultural and ideological systems of the East in the New World would definitely affect the interactions with say natives and settlers.

While this isn't too much a thing yet, one thing I find interesting is the fusion of Asian and African cultures found in East Africa. We have seen some Asian influence in Africa irl, Churchill himself described Cape Town in the late 19th century as being "Denver with a slice of Delhi." But this influence was mostly limited to the presence of Asians, rather than them affecting native African culture or linguistics directly. But, with the East African colonies, we will see Africans adopt Asian religion, customs, and language as their colonizers solidify their influence in the region. It does certainly bring some variety to African culture, which in our world was dominated mostly by French and British customs and language.

Government Info
Government Type: Monarchy with some democratic features.
Brief Explanation of Government: The government is first and foremost a hereditary monarchy. However many people have experienced more than one bad chief and the kings and emperors can be no different. As such there exists a hall of advisors. Each village Chief sends a representative to represent his views on the Advisory Council. The Advisory Council has a constantly fluctuating number of Advisors but there is usually between 500 and 600 active advisors. This council has the job of advising the emperor on activities and assisting him where need be whether it be as advisors, diplomats, bureaucrats, and other officials. If the king has proven to be uneducated or unable to rule, then after a year of rule the Advisory Council may call a National Gathering requiring all advisors to come to the capital for a grand meeting. This meeting has around 900 advisors (The reason numbers fluctuate is because sometimes advisors may have to tend to matters at home, or the Chief may merely choose to make an advisor already on the council his representative) If the council has a 65% vote for reselection then the Advisory council may take power for a year. If the council has a 95% vote for reselection then another member of the dynasty will be chosen based on merit, education and experience. At National Gatherings an Advisory Chief will act as a sort of prime minister and will be selected by popular vote among the advisors. National Gatherings may be convened for other reasons such as Wars, National Emergencies, and most commonly the Biennial Budget which sets the budget for the government every 2 years.

Local government consists of the Chief and his village. Chiefs have the power of Judges, Chief Executives, and Chief of State. If a citizen doesn't like a decision made by the Chief, then a council of the 10 oldest and most experienced members of the community will be selected to review the decision (Some villages have switched to a method in which every year a different member of the council is elected and this cycle with go on for 10 years before repeating itself). If the decision made by the council is still disliked then an appeal can be made to the local advisor or a neighboring advisor (This is to prevent possible Bias), and that will then be taken to the Advisory Council for a final decision.

IN regards to safety each village has a Chiefs Gaurd which act as the Police and Firemen for the Village. Each village will also have its own Doctor. Education is publicly provided up till 14. Several Public Libraries and public works exist throughout the country. The National Treasury and Bank are run directly by the Advisory Council and Emperor and mint money. The currency is all coinage known as the Kwacha. Coins come in the following values: 1/10 Kwacha, 1/5 Kwacha, 1/2 Kwacha, 1 Kwacha, 2 Kwacha, 5 Kwacha, and 10 Kwacha. 1 Kwacha is worth about 1/2 of a 2018 Dollar. The economy is capitalist however it is becoming more mixed as the government begins to create agencies like the Shona Medicine and Safety Council which makes sure that proper medicine and work regulations are upheld. The country is beginning to become more and more consolidated. All this information and more is contained in a 30 Page Book known as "The Great Guide" it is basically a constitution.

Military Info
Army: 64,000 Active, 210,000 Reserve
The army has been in the process of slowly modernizing toward gunpowder technology, many Europeans have been happy to give away old muskets and early rifles for cheap prices which the army has taken advantage of to train the troops in the use of ranged guns and weapons, the missile troops are currently equipped with early rifles such as the needle gun and the muskets like the brown bess. The army can be divided into 3 separate forces: Artillery, Ranged, and Melee Troops. There are about 1,000 Cavalry soldiers overall who mainly serve as scouts and messengers, there are so few since horses typically don't do well in African climates and any that do are horrendously expensive. The Artillery Force comprises of around 3,000 Troops, Artillery Soldiers are the most educated and have been trained in engineering and mechanics, in addition to operating artillery they serve as field mechanics and engineers usually in charge of creating defenses, and repairing modern equipment such as guns. The Ranged force comprises about 15,000 Troops and often wear camouflaged uniforms. They are well versed in tactics and often operate as small units. Ranged units are told the battle plan at the beginning of the battle and then are free to move throughout the battle as they please using their ranged weapons to flank and support their main forces. The rest of the army including all of the reserves are Melee troops with the job of acting as the main troops. They carry shields, two javelins, a spear and a sword and often wear light armor to blunt the attacks of bayonets and swords that are used by Europeans and Asian powers.

Since Buddhism preaches pacifism Buddhists are not allowed to fight. To fix this problem the priests and leaders created the imperial cult, a sub group of Buddhism which prioritizes the protection of the people so that they may reach enlightenment, when the soldiers die and are reborn anew they may reach nirvana in the next life. All soldiers either follow native African religions or are part of the imperial cult.

The army is organized into Battle Groups, each battle group contains around 10,000 soldiers and their are 6. Battle groups are lead by generals and contain command structures that shift to meet expectations, thus instead of being assigned ranks each officer is merely put into a pool of officers and careful records of their experience and training are kept with each battle group, thus they can be readily assigned to meet the expectations and needs of the battle group. The army prioritizes adaptability and flexibility over the rigid structures of European and Asian militaries.

[b]Government Info

Government Type: Presidential Constitutional Federal Republic
Brief Explanation of Government: the main government body of the Union States is split into three separate powers that keep watch over each branch. Ensuring one branch doesn't get more power over the other.
A requirement however to serve in the government is to be a Union citizen
Executive Branch
The executive branch is where the president and his advisors reside in. The president serves a four year term limit and can run consecutively if possible. The president is in charge of enforcing laws drafted by those in the legislative branch. When bills drafted by the legislative branch come through to the president, he has the power to pass the bill into law or veto it where it undergoes a vote to either override the veto or get revised. The president is the head of the government however is bound by law to follow the laws passed and to progress the Union into further prosperity. When in wartime, the president also serves as the commander-in-chief of the Unions military.

Legislative Branch
This branch is made up of two bodies. The house of Representatives and Congress.
The house of Representatives has 163 seats, each state having representatives based on the population of the state. In the house, the representatives draft soon-to-be laws that then go through congress for a final draft. Each representative has a two year term limit, with unlimited consecutive terms. In Congress, each state is has two senators. Each senator serves a six year term with a limit of five consecutive terms. There bills are finalized and sent off to the president to veto or pass the bill. Should the president veto a bill, should congress have a 2/3 vote on passing the bill can override the presidents veto and pass the bill to become a law.

Judicial Branch
The Judicial branch consists of 6 justices (1 chief justice and 5 assistant justices). The amount of judges is determined by Congress and can change if need be. Here the justices operate as a federal court and when reviewing laws, can deem them unconstitutional if contradictory to the Constitution of the Union. Each justice is appointed by Congress, while the chief justice is nominated by the president and later put into office. These positions are a life long term, and should the president act in a Manor that endangers the Union and it's constitution, can enforce an empeachment of the president.

Other Info
Brief Description of your Economy: a vast majority of the Unions economy lies within the agriculture business. Growing tobacco, cotton, sugar cane, and other assorted crops that grew best in the tropical climate. Along with this comes lucrative trade opportunities, expanded by Jesus Martinez, the ship-building industry has recently seen a skyrocket. However in the past years, the union has sought to industrialize immensely, with the investment into manufactorries and railroads now starting to make headway in the Union. In the southern point of the Union, the Silver mines continue to bustle away, although under-industrialized the union is looking to go through an industrial revolution to increase productivity
Goals: Unite proper America under a single flag through both military and diplomatic means, become a strong industrial power on the world scene. Exert a sphere of influence over the new world.
History: In the year of 1775, was the moment that the world of revolutions truly began. With a shriek and a blast, the muskets and cannons bellowed on for years. Men killed for believing in a cause much greater than themselves. For eight years, this war waged between master and servant, father against son, brother against brother. The toll was great, but the outcome was even greater. For the colony of the once Iberian Crown, now the independent American Union, the country roared with joyous occasion. As for the price, it seemed like it was the worst of it, but future conflicts can make it different. With the separation came new challenges and tasks ahead of this new found government.

1795 was a year of many reform changes. The election between the Democrats and Republicans was at an all time high, with majority of the Catholic community calling for an end to slavery. Democratic elect Diego Sanchez promising to bring an end to the slave trade within the American Union. While Republican elect jesus Martinez advocating to build up the industrial sector within the Texas and northern regions of Mexico. And when it came down to the ballot, Diego had come out the victor. 7 months later and negotiations with European tradesmen, the American Union ceased any and all involvement in the Atlantic slave trade. Meanwhile Jesus began to travel to the port cities of the country, buying several shipyards within the Gulf of Mexico. Accelerating the growth of America's naval infrastructure and increased investment in trade with the outside world.

1820 sought the greatest of all changes. This was a time when the question of slavery was asked once again, should it stay, or should it go. With Union undergoing industrialization, the use of slaves slowly started to wear off as machines and tools became more efficient then slaves. On January of 1820, president Carlos Castro passed the anti-slavery act, outright abolishing the usage of slaves within the Union. But the trend continued to grow, as when 1823 came rolling by, Carlos began to press the issue of giving the people, regardless of their ethnicity or race, a place within the Union as citizens. The issue brought many Americans together, to where Carlos was able to be elected for a third term in office. However this term was short-lived as he was shot and murdered by a former slave owner in his hotel room while staying in Alabama. That year, the country mourned, but this only strengthened the resolve of those that Carlos had once rallied. Carlos Vice-president, Pedro Hernandez puked up Carlos torch and carried it on through the rest of the term. Then in the year of 1826, the equal rights bill was signed by Congress and passed, granting those that once couldn't have rights the ability to run for office and other important governmental jobs.

1847 Republican candidate Jose Martinez
