American Alt-His World building RP

Would anyone be interested in an alt-his RP set in the past of the United States. Details are not really put together for a moment, but the idea is something along these lines: political and economic turmoil take hold of the United States and the Union begins collapsing into anarchy and warlordism. We would play individuals characters or factions having an affect on the United States. Below I will establish a couple of setting questions and I will spend the next 3-4 days collecting answers to decide the final ideas of the RP. Any suggestions or ideas would be great!

1. Time period
A. 1814, post defeat by the British in the war of 1812
B. 1860, the tensions between south and north over presidential election begin internal chaos even before final outcome
C. 1901, post assassination of William McKinley by anarchist assassin.
D. 1931, Great Depression
E. 1968, height of the counter-culture movement
F. 1981, threat of the Soviet advances during the 70's leads to a failed coup by the military against the outgoing Carter
G. Other ( give your thoughts )

B. Middle of the chaos
C. Right after it's calmed down a bit

This rp is intended to focus around America post total disaster

I like the 1931 scenario.

Dustbowl warlords, armed to the teeth with 1911s, Thompson 1928, and fancy looking hats.

There would be something fun about that relatively under-utilized time period. Don't even need to do a lot through most of Hoover's presidency. Just have him stick to non-government action through the entirety of his presidency (No Hoover dam, et al), then put something dramatic around FDR's election (It's a pretty wide counterfactual to have him not elected). The classic would be a bombing at inauguration or similar. Enough of a jolt that federal recovery programs never really start going anywhere, States start becoming protectionist in their own right in a desperate attempt not to slide further, bootleggers start smuggling food and other goods across state borders, etc.

3. I think this RP has a lot of potential. You could split it up by chapter or major event (like Ch1. Election of 1968, Ch2. Vietnam, so on)

1931 gets my vote. A bunch of tiny states just as tensions start to rise for World War 2. Sounds great.

I am a little partial to either E or F to be honest.

Don't consider me a vote, I'm just in for the world building discussion.

E seems difficult to me - The counterculture movement was big, but it wasn't that big. I have a hard time seeing a direction where it could really cause an Anarchical chaos. The problem with trying to get to Warlordisum is you have to at least collapse the Federal government, if not the state governments as well as provide something worth warlording over. The late sixties were times of plenty - the economy is strong, lots of everything is available, there's not really much to fight over. That's part of what charged the whole peace movement.
