The Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft is a massive nation located mostly off the coast and deep in the heartland of the region of Antarctica. A massive population of 460 million people call Abanhfleft home, and they live in all sorts of environments from the urbanized Capital Islands to the frozen tundra and taiga of Fleftic Antarctica to the deserts of Mezaladbyi and the mountainous forests of the Fhulghamous Peninsula. People are all over the religious, political, and gender spectrums, and attitudes for other cultures, ideologies and sexualities are for the most part open.

For most of its history, Abanhfleft has been a nation at war, constantly seeking to expand its territory. These "wars of conquest" lasted until the 1980s with the Fleftic invasion of what is now Verbergerkinnh Province, and Abanhfleft has since moved on to more peaceful pursuits such as international sport. A longstanding issue that Fleftic politicians have had to contend with until now is the Mezaladbyi Insurgency, a decades-long rebellion initiated by a mysterious figure known only as "the Colonel" and the detonation of a dirty bomb in the old provincial capital of Sleeping River.

Abanhfleft follows a democratic bicameral system of government but the huge size of the Fleftic Congress lends itself easily to bureaucracy, and even non-controversial bills that would usually be passed within a matter of months or even weeks could take years to go through Congress and the Senate. Abanhfleft's currency is the new penenk, with a fixed exchange rate of 3.50 new penenks per NS dollar. The new penenk replaced the old penenk in 2010 after rampant inflation saw the devaluation of the old penenk to over 10 million old penenks per NSD. Hotels and accommodation in Abanhfleft are expected to have good cheap prices for foreign visitors but watch out for local scammers seeking to make quick bucks off of gullible foreigners.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL UNDER-18 ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - MIXED

This is the fifth time that Abanhfleft will be participating in an international under-18 football competition. Abanhfleft has achieved some success in youth football competitions such as the Di Bradini Cup, winning 3rd in the 32nd edition and was looking for a shot at the title before the 33rd Cup was unexpectedly canceled. Abanhfleft made it to the final of the first Under-18 World Cup before falling to Semarland 5-2. They did the same thing in the 2nd Sporting World Cup down to losing in the final to Anglatia 1-0, and at the third time of asking, Abanhfleft fell to the same opponent by the same margin but at a different score (4-3). The Young Young Revolutionaries tried to get to the final for the fourth time running but eventual champions Mercedini saw the Fleftics out at just the quarterfinals stage. The Democratic Republic will be looking to improve upon this finish and actually win the title this time around for sure. Fifth time surely must be the charm now, right? Especially now that the Sporting World Cup is being hosted right here in the Democratic Republic....

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.5
Formation: 4-2-3-1 (This will be standard unless I change it through RPs)
Head coach: Rashad Damman (50 y/o, Oontaz)

STARTERS (All players are members of their league team's youth squads unless noted otherwise in their bios)
GK: Guildenstern CARDEW 18 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis (first team) Image, male
Guildenstern Cardew is the younger brother of former Panem striker Silvia Cardew. After Panem was enveloped by a mysterious Catastrophic Termination Event (or CTE), the Cardews eventually managed to wind up on the shores of the Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony along with a large number of their fellow Panemian nationals. Guildenstern was eventually picked up by Besanza Emeralds FC of the Fhulghamousian Premier League. Guildenstern decided to emulate his Panemian idol Walnut Durant and become a goalkeeper even though his sister Silvia is a striker. Guildenstern is also very close friends with Marius Rosenkrantz the soccer player (because of course they would be friends) but it looks like Guildenstern might have something more than just friendship in his eyes and heart for Marius.... He was snapped up by Tullio Zorzalo as soon as he was available for transfer but a planned loan move to the Gallian Union collapsed at the last minute, but this proved to be a blessing in disguise as Guildy proved to be a very good cup keeper as Sporting Ceneisis defended their SFA Cup this season.

RB: Georgine BAUM 18 y/o, Pascal Mashu Image, female
Another player with foreign roots playing for the Democratic Republic. This time, Georgine's parents are immigrants, or rather expats, from Pridnestrovia, who escaped the country after her father said a few things that were not to President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanenko's liking. Georgine is more than likely to play for Abanhfleft in the future, but stranger things have happened. Arkadia Zubarenko did end up playing for Pridnestrovia after years in Abanhfleft's youth teams. Somehow, despite being just fourteen, she was already in the under-21 team, and she's starting. Has Celerino delos Reyes finally lost his mind, or is there a method to his madness? Turns out that that method to Celerino's madness is actually a way for Georgine to gain experience in many levels of youth football before she finally gets to play on an appropriate level (in this case, the under-18 level). She has always played on the left before so seeing her on the right side this time could be a bit of a shock for her but apparently people trust Georgine to hit the ground running after being thrown off the deep end, so....

RCB: Wilton KABA 16 y/o, male

LCB: Basheer DOHOOD 18 y/o, North Bay Boulevard FC Image, male
Basheer Dohood is the only son of Abanhfleft's Vice President, Geena "Gee" Dohood. But being the son of the vice president means nothing in the field of sports unless you're good at it and fortunately, Basheer is good at football. At least, he's good enough for North Bay Boulevard FC, the local non-league affiliate of Riuwiee United. Basheer's dreams have always been to become a winger but his atrocious acceleration and pace has consigned him into being a fullback, a fullback who will more often than not get left behind in the dust by speedier and trickier opponents. Well, life's not always fair, is it?

LB: PARK Min-ho 18 y/o, Fortuna Novonikolaysk (first team) Image (Pridnestrovia), male
It isn't everyday that a Korean kid in Kimmirut Panhandle's academy becomes the subject of interest for a Pridnestrovian club, let alone a Pridnestrovian club that's just very recently shaken off the image of a relegation fodder club into Pridnestrovian Super League mid-table side in Fortuna Novonikolaysk. But Park Min-ho made the switch from Kimmirut to Novonikolaysk at the young age of 16 and was immediately thrown into the deep end after consecutive injuries to the Fortune Giants' starting left backs forced Park into the starting position. But as it turned out, Park would play a key part in Fortuna Novonikolaysk's incredible story as he helped the Fortune Giants lift their first ever Super League title and their first ever Pridnestrovian top-flight title in their entire history. Park didn't score a single goal during that historic season for Fortuna but he was responsible for four assists. Park is a surprisingly strong defender for his age and that is his main asset in defense. In attack, he has a crossing ability that is passable at best and laughable at worst.

RM: SIBUSIZWE Kiggwancha 16 y/o, Athletic Motonou Image, female
SIbusizwe's greatest strength lies in the fact that she can win the ball in midfield more times than not. Of course, most of this is against girls and boys on or nearly the same age as she is, but when she turned out for Athletic Motonou's senior side in the last few matchdays of the Ladies' Third Division season (with the title already wrapped up for Motonou) Sibusizwe looked capable of doing much the same thing against players who were much older and much more experienced than her. Sibusizwe won't have to do that against older and experienced players from other national teams just yet, but she will have to do it against her fellow under-18s from other countries starting from this tournament.

LM: Dario FRIGO 16 y/o, Bohuda United Image, male
One thing that can be said of Dario Frigo is that he appears to have been born with glue on his feet as there has never been a reported instance in which this young half-Oontaznik player playing for Bohuda United ever lost the ball when it was at his feet. Not even the older and more experienced players plying their trade in Liga Ikalawa could take the ball from Dario when he turned out for the senior side for a game or two without sliding in for the tackle and drawing a card in the process, both yellow and red. And it's not just his sticky feet that is Dario's greatest asset in playing football. He also has an eye for taking the ball over the midfield and straight into the attacking third, jumpstarting attacks in the process. The Young Young Revolutionaries will look to benefit from this greatly.

RW: Elene LINER 18 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Ladies Image, female
Even at her young age, Elene already has the look of a future fantastic keeper. Well, what else can be said about the Sarvusdalamoive Football Academy, which has turned out great Fleftic keepers like Maksim Varamoninov and Victoria Carter? Unfortunately, she's slipped down the pecking order, but only because Brook Arzate deserves the chance to start this time. She had a lot to make up for after that emotionally devastating penalty shootout loss against Schottia in the 9th Under-15 World Cup and she ended up not having the mental strength to get over the disappointment of the shootout so she decided to become a striker instead. This way she hopes to emulate some of Abanhfleft's star forwards like Matthew Cave and Ruud Akinfenyor who started off as goalkeepers and then decided to make the move up to the top of the pitch.

CAM: Prudence WOODWARD 18 y/o, Duhblakk Aztecs Image, female
Prudence Woodward is the third and final player of Panemian descent to represent the blue, orange, and green for the Sporting World Cup. She is the younger sister of Julius Woodward and her future appears to be in central attacking midfield. Prudence is already displaying a taste for clever through-balls and occupying pockets of space in which she could create chances and even score a few goals herself. Prudence has also been rumored to be displaying more than just friendly attention and camaraderie with the team's resident lesbian Poppaea Fleet-Street but that's hardly important to the conversation. But although nothing has been confirmed yet, it could be said that it won't be much of a surprise if Prudence came out and admitted that she has a relationship with Poppaea.

LW: Amelie RUSEV 18 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies (first team) Image, female
Amelie Rusev is the best player on this team after Gareth Williamson. At just 17 years old, she's already looking like the complete winger package. Not only is she both quick and light on her feet and strong in the air and during challenges, she is ambidextrous, able to use both feet to send in long balls and crosses into the box when she wants. With that added crossing ability, Amelie is already on her way to the first team of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies at such a tender age. Kasper Molak will surely look to make Amelie the successor to Raisa Korovina as the next Miss Ludogorets.

ST: Kelly McGINNIS 18 y/o, Airbus Fhulghamous Besanza Women's FC (first team) Image (Fhulghamous Peninsula), female
Kelly McGinnis could very well be the next Chelsea Stuart. Lord knows she's got the raw talent in her veins and her feet. Her only problem is in getting out of Besanza to continue her development and make sure that it's on the right track to actually making her the next Chelsea Stuart. Kelly wants to move abroad to develop herself in a world-class side, and she believes that the Sporting World Cup is her way to gaining that attention and getting that move abroad. She did well in her first stint abroad, winning a domestic cup with Mercedini's Hoventon & Corlington Town, but another potential loan move to the Gallian Union fell through and she's had to stay with Airbus Besanza for this season. This could very well change though as another opportunity could be opening up for her, but it's going to take her much farther away from the Fhulghamous than just Mercedini....

RESERVES
GK: Bronwyn CHURCHILL 18 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image, female
Bronwyn is the daughter of Rosenpfelblatz City's new manager Joseph "Joe" Churchill, one of the most decorated managers in the sport within the Fleftic sphere of influence. Bronwyn came with her dad to Rosenpfelblatz and immediately settled in well with the Lady Sky Blues' academy. She is a traditional keeper who prefers to keep close to goal and catch or slap away shots from that position, although she is learning to become a more athletic keeper now that she's training with the likes of Yannie Redborne, Marfa Kirilenko, and Blaze Chrzanowska. It should be noted that Joe Churchill would have liked it more if his daughter had not wanted to be a goalkeeper, but at least he as a father won't worry about where she's been before, during, and after training because they're always in close proximity to each other.

GK: Roy RINEY 17 y/o, Thereisnogodistan FC Image (Fhulghamous Peninsula, playing in the Fleftic Premier League)
Now this is probably a sight that you didn't expect to see; a 16-year-old among a bunch of mostly twenty-years-plus players with the odd teenager here and there. Roy is the youngest member of Ranulph Bustamante's experimental Independents Cup squad but not by a big margin as the next-youngest player to him is fellow reserve goalkeeper Guildenstern Cardew. Usually, people would be questioning the inclusion of such a young player in a representative football team but once Ranulph Bustamante took over managing Abanhfleft and unearthed such gems as Robin Riedewald and Tanaka Okamoto, no one questions his decisions anymore. Besides, Riney must have done something right for Ranulph to even consider calling him up, even if it is just for the Independents Cup. Not that Ranulph thinks that the Independents Cup is a nothing trophy; it's still a trophy after all for those nations who aren't affiliated with the Big Three regions of Esportiva, Rushmore, and Atlantian Oceania.

Football Association of the Commonwealth of Baker Park

Under 18 National Squad

Following on from their quarterfinal appearance at DBC 42, the Commonwealth enters the Under 18 World Cup with the first coed team in its' history. The squad is made up entirely of first time U18 selections, with the exception of F DeAngelo Simmons, who had a breakout performance with the U21's in his first international experience. It will also mark the first competition since Baker Park's move to Atlantian Oceania.

Nickname--since the end of the 1960's the National Team has been known as "The Bees", a period when the team's
uniforms had alternating black and gold hoops. The bee is an element on the coat of arms of the Commonwealth,
but the association was actually a reference made in an Italian newspaper game story when the senior team was
wearing the hooped shirts. Can also be referred to as the Parkers, BP, or whatever else you can manage to come up with.

Colors--Black & Gold (while they are just 2 of the 5 main colors on the flag of Baker Park--Blue, Red and White are
the others--black & gold have been closely associated in the nation's consciousness as representative of the
country since its founding.)

style--+2.10

Cosumar U18 National Team - Sporting World Cup 5

Image

Team Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Government: Cosumar is a Fiefdom, comprised of 21 historical fiefs that now act as provinces, as well as seven extraterrestrial colonies across our galaxy. Cosumar is a constitutional monarchy with King James II and the King's Congress at its head. The pillars of long-term sustainability, scientific advancement, reverence for nature, complete personal freedoms and the exploration of space are held dear.

Region: Atlantian Oceania

Nickname: Wyrmlings

Colors: Royal Blue, Silver, Navy, White

Team: The roster consists of 23 players, 22 of whom are standard human (homo sapiens). The remaining player, young striker Vir Vu'Zago is Vloo (homo cosumarensis) - a sentient species native to Cosumar. Vloo are humanoid and slightly taller on average, with pale blue skin and a pair of horns atop their head. The range of athleticism in Vloo is similar to that of humans. You can recognize which players are Vloo by their surnames: which begin with the clan prefixes Na'-, Vu'- or Va'-. In the image of the senior Cosumar team that just won the AOCAF and Eagle's Cup, Hadassah Zepećky's U18 squad plays a balanced game, using high pressure to force mistakes and capitalizing on them with quick, up-tempo passing. This generation of young Cosumarite talent includes players already playing prominent roles in the Härlighet Ligan and abroad.

Kits

Donning the uniform of the senior National Team is a prestigious honor (one that must be earned), so our youth teams do not use the same one. Our U18 team wears the old NT kits that were used in World Cup 70 and decommissioned prior to World Cup 71. Courtesy of Meski Sports. The home (left) and away (middle) kits feature the iconic Azure Dragon that resides in Cosumar's wilderness. The goalkeeper kit (right) is swathed in green and gold - the colors of the royal family.

NATIONAL INFORMATION

Ashkam, officially the Democratic People’s Republic of Ashkam, is an island nation made up of the formerly nomadic and divided Ashkamite tribes and the Finnic peoples that traditionally have lived in the south of the nation. The nation has a cold and wet climate and much of the country is covered in rough terrain, leading to a relatively low population of twenty four million. Its history was shaped by the Ashkam Civil War of the 1950s, which saw communism enacted and the forced unification of the Ashkamite tribes. The generations after the Civil War would know a completely different world than their predecessors, and would only be familiar with an era where the Workers Party of Ashkam dominated all aspects of life.

The nation has been rated as one of the least free ones in the multiverse and maintains isolationist policies, only importing from a few locations and keeping a focus on self sufficiency and independence from foreign influences. While the nation is officially a democratic republic, the vast majority of political parties are banned or repressed and only the Workers Party holds legitimate power. The leader of the nation is a Chairman that serves five year terms, but this position has been dominated from the beginning by the political dynasty of the Tanai family, who were leaders on the revolutionary side of the Civil War. Chairman Rada Tanai has served two full terms and rules the country with an iron fist, with a strong cult of personality existing around him and the rest of the family.

Butterfly Effect

Part One

Gunter Palo

Life isn’t always easy by the sea, in Barlo. An area that wasn’t completely changed by industrialization, like the rest of the country. We don’t have everything that one can get to the north, beyond the southern coast that we call home. Not the luxury cars that somehow get produced in our classless society. Not the heavily processed foods that the larger cities rely on, rather than the traditional wheat and local meats. Fishing is still an industry here, even if the government is slowly moving in with their bustling factories and trying to modernize us to assimilate us with the rest of the nation.

You could say that the sea is a representation of our lives. It’s rough around the edges and quite dangerous, but it’s always around year after year, and will remain that way forever. Whatever the government does, the sea will always be there and we’ll always be from the southern coast. They can redirect us like the actual waters, try to fight us, modernize us, whatever. Even if they fill the city with factories and pollute the water, there will always be a loyal southerner fighting it. And that’s not even in their interests, because the water packaging business is our city’s main industry and has been since industrialization. Laugh all you want, but the rest of the nation relies on us for this. Other places make cars and heavy machinery, and we happen to purify and bottle water. One isn’t more important than the other.

If the sea is the best representation of us, the second best might be fighting. Because ultimate fighting is basically the sport version of everything that we look for in people: heart and hustle are key to winning, and the entire sport is built around toughness and grit. About being able to take a punch to the face and not even flinch or blink. There’s nothing more Barlo than that when you think about it, and being a paid fighter is something that we all dream about here. I just happen to be one of the few people that can realistically chase that, as a two sport athlete playing football for the Dynamo Barlo academy and kickboxing on the side. With luck, I’ll get the offer to turn professional as soon as I graduate high school, and I won’t have to fight in an illegal underground club.

But first, I need to focus on the opponent in front of me. “Fighting out of the blue corner, a southpaw from the west end of Barlo, with an undefeated amateur record of nine wins and no losses, with all of those victories coming by way of knockout… Jordan ‘Iron Fist’ Antaria!” the ring announcer says, before the spotlight shifts to me and the crowd picks up a bit. “And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner… A boxer and grappler from Barlo, with an amateur record of fourteen wins and one loss, with eight wins by knockout. One of the best pro prospects that this city has seen in multiple years… He is, the fighting pride of Central Barlo… Gunter ‘the Zombie’ Palo!”

I take a bow as my name is announced, and it’s not long before we’re in the center of the ring and the referee is reminding us of the rules. We touch gloves and back into our own corners, and the bell rings to signal the start of the fight. I come in charging hard early on and land a hook-cross combination before buckling my opponent with an outside leg kick, and I follow up by stepping around him and landing shots to his back and shoulder. It’s a knockdown, seconds later, the first of the fight. “Square up!” I shout, turning and pumping up the crowd while Antaria gets back to his feet.

I charge in again as soon as the referee steps away, and I eat a left cross without blinking before striking back with a harder right handed counter. My corner is shouting at me to knock this guy out, and I’m doing my best to do that, as I slip another cross and then land a straight right in the middle of his abdomen, knocking the wind out of him. He clinches, and I land at least three punches before the break. It’s going to be one of these nights, I see. I’ve taken my opponent by surprise and I can feel it, and everything seems to be going right. If only things kept going right after this fight for me. Maybe if they did, I would be telling a different story than the one I’m telling now.

***

It took me four rounds to put Antaria away, but I looked good in all the rounds and checked all the boxes of a rising fighter heading to contender status. My nine fight win streak will stay alive, too, and the local press are all over this victory. It might be in an amateur promotion, but they know an up and coming professional prospect when they see one. This was probably the first fight in my career when the press crowded around me when it was over, creating an impromptu press conference in the tunnel heading to the locker rooms of the small but packed arena. Usually, they’d play high school hockey or indoor football here, but the place also serves as the home of amateur fights in the center city.

“Gunter, what are your plans for your football career after this win? Are you going to continue your career with Dynamo Barlo even if you become a professional fighter?” asks one local reporter, as cameras click in my face.

“I do plan on continuing my career as a footballer, yes. I want to represent Barlo in both sports and I want to make it to the national team,” I say. “A footballer plays every week but a kickboxer has far less events to attend, so I think I can pull it off and do both at the same time. I wouldn’t be the first.”

“Do you think that the call from the Ashkam Fight League will come soon? You’re graduating high school soon and you look like one of the prospects that can join the league immediately, rather than waiting around.”

“Yeah, that’s the goal. My team is working towards that and I actually plan on calling them up and talking about it as soon as I’m eligible to fight. I’ve heard talk just like you guys that they want me out of high school, so that’s reassuring.”

“Would you ever consider fighting internationally to represent Ashkam and communism for the rest of the world?”

“Maybe? I don’t think there’s many kickboxing organizations looking to sign someone from Ashkam, I’m happy with the idea of fighting in the AFL. But if the chances comes to me, I don’t know that I would deny it.”

My manager, Sigrid, signals for me to come on, and I tell the press that I can’t answer any more questions before turning and heading down the tunnel. She’s one of the best in the business and knowledgeable about both the fight game and the business side of things, and she’s also my twin sister and the one that’s most familiar with me personally. Those factors make her a great manager, and hiring her paid off when my win streak began. “Good job out there. You kept the pressure up, and you executed when you had the chance. I’m proud,” she said, as we walked into the locker room. “I think I have the next opponent lined up, but we should relax for tonight an think about that tomorrow.”

“Right. What do you want to do?”

“Already made plans with some of the Barlo boys to head out to the coast, there’s a new restaurant there that I want to try out. Has some of the more traditionally northern foods,” she says. That’s another fact about us. We’re teammates at the Barlo academy, and while I play defender, she plays winger. She’s probably a better footballer than me, but that’s alright, because I’m the better fighter and the only one that still fights these days. “I told them I’d be there at eleven thirty, feel free to come along.”

I shrug and nod. “Alright then, sounds like a plan.”

Aided by the success of their youth academies plus a series of dual national eligibilities, Mercedini enter the 5th Sporting World Cup as defending champions following their triumph in Filindostan in the previous edition. The success of the Sunrisian-founded Project Olimpo Mercedini means the team has a number of young MPL-based have come about following the U21 academy achieving two successive promotions in three seasons meaning they will play first team football for the first time in their short history. Winning two on the bounce is a tough ask, especially in such a variable tournament, however Mercedini hope to match their spectacular effort and hope to lift the trophy in Abanhfleft. Speaking of the host nation, Abanhfleft will host the fifth edition of the Sporting World Cup and have a long and pronounced pedigree in the tournament ever the since it's inception. Mercedini are well known in these parts as the team which broke their U18's final streak when the Young Eaglets ended their streak in the quarter-finals before going on to win the trophy. The Young Eaglets have been drawn in a competitive group with Humaliwo, Natanians & Nosts and United States of Devonta, who were in Mercedini's SWC4 group, is history repeating itself?

Melbergian FA Reveal New Kit

Image

It was announced earlier on today that Melbergia will use the upcoming Sporting World Cup to debut their new kit.

The new kit, produced by popular designer No Nonsense Sportswear, will be worn for the first time by the Melbergian U18 squad as they face off against Darmen in the first group game.

The kit features a somewhat classic gold and black design, with the dragon of Melbergia featuring prominently on the golden home shirt.

Hopes are high for this generation of Melbergian players, and whilst they have been drawn against comparative heavyweights on the world stage, there is a mood of cautious optimism around the Melbergian camp, many believing this is a side capable of progressing to the knockout stages at the very least.

Pundits are describing athletic right winger Dalton Surlow as a potential standout performer, and there are believed to be many who will watching him closely throughout this tournament.

FILINDOSTAN
National Under-18 Football Team
Under-18 World Cup

The Filindostan Football Federation is pleased to present the Filindostan National football team, to compete in the 21st Campionato Esportiva, in Fhulghamous Peninsula and Copper Cuprum. The current Baptism of Fire champions had a solid first cycle in association football, winning the tournament for newcomer nations, almost qualifying for the World Cup, and getting out of the group stages at the subsequent Cup of Harmony. The Pula Garudas hope that they better their last edition's result at the Campionato Esportiva - advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

About the Filindostan Football Federation

The Filindostan Football Federation (FFF) was founded after they split from the Filindostani National Sports Commission (FNSC), citing the FNSC's tainted image during the Multiverse Boxing Organization boxing tournament and the budget cut the agency suffered. The newly-established federation caters to the nation's footballing affairs and sanctions the selection of the senior, under-21 and under-15 squads. Moving forward, the FFF will now oversee Under-18 squads.

The FFF's headquarters are located in San Marco, Filindostan, and is headed by Estrelitta "Estie" Barzagia.

Kits
Image

Local kit supplier, No Nonsense, provides the kits for the Pula Garuda. The kits will be used until the World Cup 81 season. The home kits are clad in red and are usually paired with black shorts and white socks. For color clashes in shorts and socks, they use their all red kit. Their alternate kit is white, usually with red shorts and socks, but can be black shorts and white socks in case of color clashes. The goalie kit is all black (or in black shorts and socks), but in case of color clashes, a yellow version of the GK kit is available.

The below information will help teams RP against my team in case they RP first.

Fans
Filindostani fans are double-edged swords - sometimes they are most passionate fans in Filindostan, sometimes, they can be compared to the worst of internet trolls. Around five thousand diehard fans will travel to the host nation to watch their team play - but they usually bring their megaphones and flares with them - they somehow make it past the guards. Some fans are crazy enough to invade the pitch and cause match delays.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my lineup: Yes
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod scoring events: No
RP injuries to my players: Yes - I'll determine the severity.
Godmod injuries to my players: No - Absolutely no death here please.

Republican National Soccer Team, LLC Returns to Sporting World Cup

For the first time since Sporting World Cup 1, the Federation of Free Republics will be represented by a Republican National Soccer Team, LLC squad. As most of the current senior team, which qualified for World Cup 79 and lifted the Independents Cup, is still under the age of 18, Soccer General Rule Theriault has opted to send a full-strength squad to this competition, including stars Love Holm and Johnny Smith. However, the Soccer General has elected to give Sir Koby Theodore an opportunity to manage the team. The 30-year-old on-field legend will be looking to prove himself by leading this talented team to glory.

Believe it or not but no Republican team has ever lifted the Sporting World Cup. This year, Koby Theodore's team will be facing Juvencus, Sharktail and finally hosts (and perennial contenders) Abanhfleft in the Group Stage. Until last year's edition, Abanhfleft had lost every final in Sporting World Cup history but Mercedini ended that streak by knocking them out in the quarterfinals. Remarkably, however, they have been eliminated from every edition of the Sporting World Cup by the eventual champions.

This year, the Sporting World Cup has a smaller field of just 24 teams. Unfortunately, this edition of the Cup is being held a bit late because of the controversy involving Jasper Chuter's resignation and the damage that his actions have done to our magazine's once sterling reputation have likely scared some nations away from our Cup. This is regrettable because Jasper Chuter's actions do not reflect the values of Sporting World, LLC nor do they reflect my values. I am, afterall, an upstanding lady and have always conducted myself with class to the best of my ability!

Since there isn't much else to talk about yet, let me say that I am proud to be the editor of Sporting World Magazine and that I disavow that creep Jasper Chuter and his horrid conduct. I hope you will trust me and I hope you will trust my team of talented writers as we seek to rebuild the reputation of Sporting World. I also ask that you watch our upcoming tournament live from Abanhfleft on Freedom Sports and GoogolStream. I can assure you that the entire tournament will be aired with limited commercial interruption because Sporting World wants to provide the best possible experience for those watching at home.

SHOULD ABANHFLEFT BOYCOTT THE NEXT DI BRADINI CUP?

By Malik Qazizadah

WRITING FROM RIUWIEE - Following Abanhfleft's loss on penalties to Pasarga in the Round of 16 of the 42nd Di Bradini Cup, and after Pasarga were once again crowned champions of the competition following a narrow victory in the final over Chromatika, Fleftic youth teams adviser and founder of the Alternative Football Program Heinrich Wurzmann made the controversial statement that Abanhfleft should sit out the next edition of the Di Bradini Cup. Wurzmann claimed that the competition's officials have been providing the Pasargan team with important and vital breaks to ensure that the team would win the competition no matter the competition presented before them. The organizers of the Di Bradini Cup have strenuously denied Wurzmann's practical accusations but Wurzmann himself has refused to back down from his stand, even adding that if he was the president of the Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft, he would refuse to participate in the Di Bradini Cup until the officiating in all of Pasarga's matches in the 42nd Di Bradini Cup was reviewed.

But do Wurzmann's words really have merit? Is he merely blowing off steam following what has been one of the most heartbreaking matches in Fleftic football history? Or has Wurzmann spotted something that the rest of the footballing community hasn't noticed, or chooses not to notice? First of all, let us take a look at the first question posited in this paragraph. Does Wurzmann really believe the words that he's saying? At first glance, yes, and at second glance, he has since become even more convinced that he is speaking the truth. And nothing is more dangerous than a man who truly believes what he is saying, especially when the veracity of his words cannot be quickly and independently verified by any competent authority.

So now the question turns to is Wurzmann merely just venting his frustrations at the way that the match went in the first place? There is no question that Wurzmann is very passionate about his adopted country and he, like everyone else tuning in to the Di Bradini Cup, must have felt the hair-pulling frustration that was the round of 16 game between Abanhfleft and Pasarga in DBC 42. Therefore it stands to reason that his emotions would finally go over the edge after Pasarga knocked us out again in the Di Bradini Cup for the second time that these two teams have met in the DBC. It just so happened that his position as a high-ranking adviser to the Fleftic youth setup had provided him a platform in which he could state his own opinion.

But now the problem is that his opinion is no longer just his own. A great number of football fans have taken up Wurzmann's cause and adopted it as their own, from casual fans who just happen to look at the game once or twice when it's on the TV to the regular fans who religiously follow the national team's exploits throughout the World Cup and the youth cups to even the so-called "Real Fans of Abanhfleft" who claim that there is a massive international conspiracy going on to deny Abanhfleft the chance at winning some sporting silverware. So now the question is, is Wurzmann right? Is there indeed something going on behind the scenes that, at the very least, is forcing Pasarga to win the Di Bradini Cup at the cost of other potentially more deserving sides in the competition?

Wurzmann has presented as his evidence two officiating mistakes in the Abanhfleft-Pasarga game as proof that Pasarga is being guided towards their fourth Di Bradini Cup victory. The first officiating mistake, according to Wurzmann, was when Sohaila Magomedova's potential game-winning goal at the fourth minute of injury time in the first ninety minutes with the game tied at 2-2 was chalked off for offside after Magomedova had slammed home the ball after Kelly McGinnis had tried to shoot at a narrow angle. Had the ball not met any part of the Pasargan goalkeeper's body, Wurzmann contends, Magomedova would have indeed been in an offside position, but Wurzmann claims that the ball took a very slight touch off of the Pasargan goalkeeper's left knee and therefore the offside rule was no longer in effect when Magomedova pounced on the free ball. Our own replays have shown the evidence to be inconclusive, with the decision very definitely going either way, and although we will have no idea as to what angles the video assistant saw in his booth, it is sufficient to say that there is not enough evidence for the referee to overturn the call.

It was in practically the same situation that Wurzmann claims that the second officiating mistake in his point of view occurred, but this time it was in the third minute of added time to the second half of the extra thirty minutes played, and it was Magomedova crossing to Karamoko Bakayoko for yet another potential game-winning goal for the Fleftics, and once again, Wurzmann asserts that the ball took a touch from the Pasargan goalkeeper before making its way to Bakayoko, who was also flagged for offside but could have stood a chance of scoring had the call been overturned, according to Wurzmann. Wurzmann also brought forth evidence of officials making calls that benefited Pasarga on their way to their latest Di Bradini title as they made their way past Starblaydia, Kita-Hinode and Chromatika, a more in-depth analysis of which can be found here.

There is no denying that Abanhfleft got unlucky with regards to two potential game-winning goals getting chalked off for offside under controversial circumstances. The manner by which we also lost in a penalty shootout against Pasarga is also saddening but we must not look at the defeat and point that it is the work of nefarious and nebulous forces seeking to always deny Abanhfleft a sporting trophy. The only way that we can prove that we deserve to win the Di Bradini Cup is to play our absolute best at every game in the competition. And boycotting the Di Bradini Cup is definitely not the way to go about doing that.

Teens to make first coed soccer try
by Fiona Devlin, Staff Soccer Writer

The FAC Under-18 National Soccer team finished up training ahead of their opening match at the Sporting World Cup 5, against Northwest Kalactin and according to team co-Captains Sam Harrison and Samantha Bradley, the spirit and rapport between the players has been exceptional once the initial getting to know you process was sorted out. "The coaches told us we were all in this together, for good or ill", said Harrison, an up and coming prospect for Ezriquay United. "None of us have played national team matches at this age level, so there wasn't an issue that someone might have been at an advantage in the selection process."

Bradley, a first year Naval Academy cadet, stressed that the example the staff set was key to breaking down barriers between the sexes. "Tony (U18 manager Weiss) kind of said to me if we're all going to respect each other, you'd better be prepared to show your stuff from the first drill. I wasn't quite sure what he meant until I went in a bit too hard on a tackle in a drill, and he sort of gave me a grin and a wink." So was there animosity between the guys and gals when things got a bit physical? "No, I think that's what they wanted us to get past from the start. We all are competitive and we understand how the game is played at a high level. I think Tony and Jennifer (U18 assistant manager Prescott) wanted all of us to realize that everyone can give as good as they get in training."

Harrison also remarked about the way the staff built up a camaraderie in the squad by squashing gender barriers and attitudes. "They made all of us communicate on the pitch by using first names, where you'll generally on your own teams call people by their last name or a nickname. They made it more of a personal connection with your teammate rather than just a bunch of people thrown together in a group."

Weiss, who is taking charge of his first development squad as manager, was encouraged by the progress the players had made in gaining each others trust and confidence. "I hate to say the process was a maturity issue, because these are young people who come in with a level of maturity that's higher than your average 17 or 18 year old. But they still are teenagers and needed a bit of a perspective adjustment to get their heads around the concept that it doesn't matter if the person next to you is male or female, just that they are a soccer player you need because they are on your side."

Prescott, who agreed to take the temporary assignment as number 2 to Weiss in order to bring her experience as the Under 21 ladies boss, also thinks that the overall mood in the camp is a good harbinger of things to come. "I feel like we've taken big steps forward, that no matter what the results are we've found a template we can work with down the road. I don't think we are taking a massive gamble with player development by trying to make this work, but the immediate results might take a bit of time to start showing up."

Darmen 1 Hendry '23
Melbergia 2 Carrow '44, '68

A close game at the Monsanto Stadium today where 57,000 fans saw Melbergia narrowly edge out Darmen courtesy of a Chris Carrow brace.

The game started in rambunctious fashion, both teams desperate to put their mark on the game, perhaps an indicator of the enthusiasm of youth, but also the naivety that this sometimes entails. Following a frantic first fifteen minutes with half-chances for both teams, the pace of the game slowed and became scrappy.

In the twenty-second minute, a driven long range effort from Darmeni Bill St John could only be parried over the bar by the Melbergian keeper. The resulting corner, also taken by St John, was nodded down by Hutson at the far post, and then bundled in by an unlikely goalscorer in right back Ron Hendry.

The goal had a negative effect on the game, the Darmenis appearing to shut to shop somewhat, whilst the Melbergian attack proved itself mostly ineffective for the best part of the half, with no significant chances created for either team.

A momentary lapse of concentration just before half time however allowed Dalton Surlow to break free on the right for Melbergia, dribbling into the box where he laid a simple square pass through to Chris Carrow to level the game.

The second half started in similar fashion to the first, both sides throwing the kitchen sink at the game trying to get a second goal. St John again came close with a curling effort from the edge of the box flying within inches of the right post.

The game was ultimately decided in the 68th minute, when a Surlow cross into the box was judged to have been handled by earlier goalscorer Hendry, the ref instantly pointing to the spot. Carrow calmly dispatched the resulting penalty into the bottom right corner to tie up all the points for Melbergia.

The result leaves Melbergia tied with Qasden at the top of group B, with Darmen equally tied with Vakolicci Haven and Celeria after the other fixture in the group ended with the same scoreline.

Melbergian fans will undoubtedly be delighted with this result, particularly in this format whereby a strong early result goes a long way towards securing a place in the knockouts.
