If i remember correctly it borrows heavily from Romance languages.
Most of the time I have no idea what the hell I'm doing or talking about.

They look similar and are both mostly Romance-influenced, so I can see that.

I'm skeptical of the idea of a universal auxiliary language in the first place, and the only reason Esperanto is considered one of the better candidates for an IAL is its momentum. It's one of the oldest IALs out there and by the turn of the 20th century already had an alright base, and it's easier to make something which is already established an IAL than creating another new proposal. Esperanto has so many things that make it unsuitable for an IAL (a case system, uses Romance basis most of the time--but, for some reason, a lot of the scientific vocabulary whose Latin and Greek forms are widespread are taken from other languages ("birdo" instead of "av(e)o"? Really?), way too many phonemes with rare contrasts, strange as hell orthography (circumflexes, Zamenhof? Really?), the assumption of male gender for all nouns without special marking).

This nation does not represent my actual views. A semi-feudal absolute monarchy going through political upheaval.

Leftist; democratic socialist with a helping of civic republicanism.

What did custom stern divide,
Every man becomes a brother,
Where thy gentle wings abide."

I don't think it's great as a universal language, but I think it sounds and looks nice.
Mi ne pensas ĝi estas bona kiel universalan lingvon, sed mi pensas ĝi sonoj kaj aperas belan.

I'm unironically fond of Esperanto. A lot of love and care went into its creation, it has an interesting (and sometimes hilarious) history, and its underlying ideals are really nice.

Also, Zamenhof is my favorite surname ever.

If i remember correctly it borrows heavily from Romance languages.

It's very Latin, with bits and pieces of Slavic and Finno-Ugric languages thrown in.

It definitely does deserve the criticism it's received for being a bit too Eurocentric.
