You mentioned "from Egyptian Arabic to Najdi Arabic". What are the differences between the various dialects of Arabic? I think the script is the same, Standard Arabic, but the speech is different? Anyway, knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Larin wrote:Welcome to the Thread for Arab speakers! On this thread we mainly speak Arabic (From Egyptian Arabic to Najdi Arabic), also English is allowed here! If you're a non-Arabic speaker but you want to learn Arabic, then you are at the good adress! You can also use Google Translate if you do speak Arabic but can't write it with a non-Arab keyboard. Or if you don't speak Arabic!
Have fun!

Seems a bit arbitrary...I mean...what exactly is meant to be discussed here?

The Arabic word for ‘book’ sounds a lot like the Japanese word for ‘word’. You could say they both share a k-t-b triconsonant root.
That's odd, the two languages are in completlry different language families: Afro-Asiatic for Arabic and Japonic for Japanese. That sort of sharing shouldn't happen except with loan words and within the same family.

I understand your point, but this sort of sharing and lone words happens due to trading between different countries between 1400 and 1900, which used to happen people take the words from that language and spread it to others and create a own pronunciation and the definition of that word

It's a coincidence. There's only so many sounds the human body can produce after all. Japanese and English share a few words that sound alike but are not related either.
