"With all due respect, ambassador, but this proposal doesn't stop nations from banning the use of cloning technology. Yes, it does in fact put some restrictions in place, mostly on ethical grounds, but at the same time, this proposal also protects the right for members to regulate what methods of cloning are legal within each respective member's borders, by extent allowing nations to outlaw any and all methods of cloning.
And yes, I understand it's peculiar that I'm arguing in favour of this proposal when our official stance remains "opposed", but I've seen the "against because nations may wish to ban it/we think it's immoral and should be banned" line being used a tad too often, seeing how it doesn't hold much ground in the face of clause 9."
