The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula is a small Fleftic colony located on the edge of the region of Esportiva renowned for the white sandy beaches of Thimpodopoulos Bay, the forested mountains in the northern Fhulghamous which gave the colony its name, and most especially the diamond and emerald nodes located underneath said mountains, the biggest source of the Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony's economic power within the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft and also in the region of Esportiva. 20 million people call the colony home, and 10 million of those reside in the capital city of Port Thimpodopoulos. The colony's official currency is the Fleftic new penenk, seeing as it is the official currency of Abanhfleft, with an exchange rate of 3.50 new penenks per 1 NS dollar. NSDs and Espos are also accepted as legal tender in the colony.

The Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum is a small island nation located in the middle of the Lazarus Ocean that for cartographic reasons still unknown is now currently being grouped as part of the region of Esportiva. The Chiefdom was founded back in 537 AD but was only discovered by another nation in 1914 when the Fleftic Navy was searching for the daughter of then-President Rufus Wole Mensah, whose ship had vanished in a strong storm near the island. The discovery of the island, compounded by the fact that the Chief of Copper Cuprum at the time, Zed, had married Fatimah Aliramah Mensah, resulted in a sudden and unexpected alliance between Copper Cuprum and Abanhfleft that lasts to this day. As far as sports goes, rugby league is definitely the most popular sport in Copper Cuprum, but association football does come a close second in terms of viewership and popularity in the Chiefdom. The primary currency in Copper Cuprum is the copper coin, but the Fleftic new penenk, Espo, and NS dollar is also accepted as legal tender since carrying fistfuls of copper coins is a practical art form that only the Copperites have managed to master.

THE COLONY OF THE FHULGHAMOUS PENINSULA
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula (Full-Gah-Moose) was first established on 6 December 2008, when Fleftic explorers landed on what was then a previously undiscovered continent. These explorers landed on a large peninsula that they named Fhulghamous because of its rich and lush green forests. One of the explorers then fell into an old mine shaft while exploring the peninsula and discovered that the entire peninsula was lying on top of one of the biggest diamond deposits ever discovered by mankind. Once the explorers announced their discovery to the Fleftic government, the Democratic Republic Army Corps of Engineers was quickly dispatched to help speed up the establishment of the colony by helping in constructing settlements and assisting in constructing mining facilities to extract the diamonds within the land.

The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula was officially established as a colony of the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft on 6 September 2010 following the signing of Democratic Republic Act No. 2340. The colony's capital would be Port Thimpodopoulos, named after Sergeant Major Pythagoras Thimpodopoulos of the Army Corps of Engineers, who tragically died of a heart attack during the construction of the settlement that would eventually bear his name. Today, Port Thimpodopoulos has a population of ten million, accounting for just under half of the total population of the colony. Other cities in the colony were Besanza, Tadoki, Haritzaga City and Thereisnogodabad, home of Multiverse Premier League club Thereisnogodistan FC.

The colony is under the leadership of Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano, brother of Minister of Colonial Affairs Demetrios Kulbano. His rule saw the Fhulghamous Peninsula's ascent to being one of the most economically-productive colonies of the Democratic Republic, but due to the colony's distance from the mainland Governor Kulbano is slowly beginning to treat the colony as his own personal fiefdom. This was one of the reasons why he had decided to send forth a petition to send a national team to the Di Bradini Cup, the Multiverse's top under-21 football competition. Unfortunately due to some last-minute troubles, the Fhulghamous Peninsula's team was not allowed entry into the Di Bradini Cup, leaving many people in the colony a bit unfulfilled. But when another chance to send forth a national team revealed itself, Governor Kulbano was quick to submit his team's entry, and this time he made sure that the wouldn't miss out on another chance at participating in an international competition.

The current team is mostly composed of players 21 years old or younger since Governor Kulbano originally envisioned this team participating in the Di Bradini Cup. Any players older than 21 were supposed to be coaching staff for the attempt at the U-21 Cup, but circumstances had forced to suiting up for their colony for this tournament. Nevertheless, everyone believes they've got what it takes to win it all. Also, following the relative success of the team in the Runner Cup and the Campionato Esportiva, a local league system has now been established in the colony, even as their two most successful teams (Marinos Thimpodopoulos and Thereisnogodistan FC) are now part of the Fleftic league system.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of Nation: The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula
Demonym: Fhulghamousian, Colonist
Team colors: Green and gray
Style modifier: +4.00 (Yet another very attacking side)
Manager: Orestes Katsouranis Jr. (54 y/o, Fhulghamous Peninsula)
Assistant manager: Paulus Wolf (52 y/o, Pridnestrovia)
Trainer: Wendell Beckett (70 y/o, Abanhfleft)

STARTERS
GK: CAPOEIRISTA
33 y/o, Airbus Fhulghamous Besanza Image, vice-captain
Bradini Vazconcelos Redentor, as Capoeirista is called in real life, is one of the better keepers playing both for and in the Fhulghamous Peninsula. Named after the well-known international football star Simone Di Bradini, Capoeirista seemed destined to play as a forward, but alas, he found himself more comfortable playing between the goalposts, and that was how he ended up playing as a goalkeeper. When he's not playing football, he teaches people in the martial art of capoeira, which is how he gained his current nickname. His capoeira skills have also proved intangible once he combined it with his goalkeeping training to become one of the best keepers in the colony, producing spectacular saves that are almost akin to martial arts moves. There's no question that he's a good keeper, but the team's performance in the recent Campionato Esportiva doesn't really reflect that, but it could be said that it's more the fault of the defense than Capoierista's personally. Can they improve in time for the World Cup qualifiers?

RB: Pau PALOMER 24 y/o, Thereisnogodistan FC Image (playing in the Fleftic Premier League)
Once again, nothing much distinguishes Pau from the rest of the center backs in the Fleftic sphere of influence. About the only noteworthy thing about him is that he shows excellent defensive skills for his age and has now become a starter for Thereisnogodistan FC. Why exactly he's still not starting is a bit of a mystery, but with John Montemayor looking more and more likely to announce his retirement from both club and international football anytime soon, Pau might soon just get the chance to represent the Fhulghamous for real this time.
UPDATE: John Montemayor has finally announced his retirement from international football, and Pau Palomer has been named the new starting right back of the Fhulghamous national team.

RCB: Naftali SINGERSTEIN 26 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)
A promising young center back whom Sporting Ceneisis immediately snapped up as soon as the Colonists' campaign in the Campionato Esportiva was over, but then immediately sent him on loan to Oontaz Dert Li Ng's Botafogo de Maranao. Singerstein is the kind of center back to sit back and be the last man between the keeper and any marauding attackers, although a lot of times he has to be reminded that there is such a thing as the offside rule. If he does play someone offside, most often it will be by accident. Now back at Ceneisis.

LCB: John HAINAUT 23 y/o, Miroz Old Boys Image (Abanhfleft)
The other half of Fhulghamous's central defensive pairing. Hainaut has since picked up a contract for Miroz Old Boys in the second tier of Fleftic football. He's the kind of defender that moves up with the attack and takes the occasional long shot from outside the box from time to time, but he does well to go back to the defense when the opponent marauds up the field. Still, he's caught out of position more times than not, but he's young, and there's still time to learn how to be a proper center back.

LB: Tatsuo KAMAKURA 25 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Image (playing in the Fleftic Premier League)
Maybe an older, more experienced left back could've been selected to play for the national side. Unfortunately, a left back from the Fhulghamous Peninsula better than Kamakura hasn't been discovered yet, so the team will have to settle for him for the moment. But surely there must be some quality in him though as he's been signed by Marinos Thimpodopoulos, the surprise package of the recently concluded Fleftic Premier League season. An older and more experienced left back with championship-winning experience has now been found in Riuwiee United's Sokratis Tzorvas, but because Tatsuo has since proven himself capable for the Fhulghamous, Tzorvas will sit on the bench unless something bad happens to Tatsuo.

RM: Elliot EDISON 30 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Image (Abanhfleft)
Elliot is all about speed and pace. In the training grounds, he's almost as fast as the fastest man on earth, and no teammate has ever managed to beat his time in sprints. But in scoring goals, where it matters most, Elliot has been a little bit lacking. Sure, he makes good runs into pockets of space, but when it's time to apply the finishing touch, he just can't seem to find the back of the net more times than he does. The fact that people consider Elliot scoring 10 goals for Arsenal de Releinthi in a given season a milestone is an indicator of his lack of shooting prowess, which has led to confusion on whether he's more suited to be a playmaking midfielder rather than a goalscoring winger. He used to play for Abanhfleft in friendly games and a few qualifying matches but has since managed to shift his allegiance to the Fhulghamous Peninsula due to the fact that his grandfather Uriah Edison is now a colonial councilor alongside the likes of Rashidunnin Ali.

RCM: Kieran MOSKOWITZ 24 y/o, Polaris Image (Ceni)
Box-to-box midfielder who got a contract with Pridnestrovia's Palatine Opals due to his impressive work in the Runner Cup and the Campionato Esportiva. Looks to repeat his earlier heroics for the country in this Global Cup of Soccer. Finally earned a well-deserved move abroad to Polaris in Ceni.

LCM: Lucian VON FRANKREICH 27 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
The other Fhulghamousian central midfielder was signed by another Pridnestrovian club, namely Union Rheinburg. Frankreich is a holding midfielder who can get the ball out of sticky situations and feed passes to the attack, although he is susceptible to being crowded out with the right pressure.

LM: Aidan POWER Jr. 27 y/o, Zoloroni Metropolitan FC Image (Mercedini)
The only mystery around Aidan Junior, son of local Nepharim legend Aidan Power Sr., is why such a good right midfielder such as himself has been passed over by almost every club that could possibly sign him. He's good enough to play for a Premier League side, but not even Godric Wexler and Arsenal de Releinthi had taken a chance on him. There must be an element to his game that has turned off teams to him. Is there hope for him to get a club this time around? Apparently there is, as Mercedini's Zoloroni Metropolitan has decided to take him onboard. He also used to play in right midfield but with Elliot Edison now cleared to play for the Fhulghamous, Aidan Junior will be moved to the left where he has shown flashes of even more blinding brilliance.

CF: SEBASTIANO Pelucci 29 y/o, Riuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft), captain
The other player who plays in the Fleftic Premier League, Sebastiano is a recognized striker playing for Riuwiee United, one of the top teams in the Fleftic top tier. He's got his fair share of goals for both club and country, and he'll be looking to add to his tally in the Campionato Esportiva.
IMPORTANT: This player should be referred as Sebastiano to differentiate him from his brother Salvatore Pelucci.

CF: Max FETFATZIDIS 28 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Image (Abanhfleft)
No one had been paying attention to Max before he helped get Marinos Thimpodopoulos promoted to the Fleftic Premier League, and his amazing 32 goals that season was enough to earn him a N$40m transfer to Rosenpfelblatz City. Max would've taken over Sebastiano Pelucci's spot, but Mephistopheles injured himself playing baseball with the Trendstart Conquistadors, so Max is starting for the Fhulghamous now.

RESERVES
GK: Timothy MERLINSON 21 y/o, Acoflosa United Image (Mercedini)
Timothy is an average goalkeeper in an average team, literally. There's nothing that sets him apart from other goalkeepers both in Abanhfleft and the Fhulghamous Peninsula, and while he may have once been part of Marinos Thimpodopoulos' academy and stood a good chance of making it into the first team, he decided to take his chances somewhere and requested that he be cut from the team. This resulted in him becoming a bit of a wanderer, flitting in and out of teams throughout the Fleftic sphere of influence, and this is also most probably what cost him the chance to take the starting spot in the Peninsular national team when Rashidunnin Ali decided to hang up his boots once again. But Timothy has appeared to have finally settled down with Mercedini's Acoflosa United, where he hopes to make an impacteven if it's just off the bench.

GK: Wanakamahaga DUDABULATULA 21 y/o, Charalambos FC Image
Dudabulatula (that's his given name, by the way) is the crown prince of the Ebolatuli, the largest local tribe living in the Fhulghamous before the arrival of the Fleftic colonists. The integration of the local tribes into the colony is a story that has a lot of twists and turns in it, but it's safe to say that the Ebolatuli are one of the tribes that have managed to survive the transition into the 21st century with their sanity and cultural identity relatively intact. They also took really well to association football, and Dudabulatula is just one of many young people from the tribe who are looking to get opportunities to see the rest of the multiverse through the medium of sport. Expect to see little of him, though, unless something bad happens to either Tim Merlinson or Capoeirista.
IMPORTANT: This player should be always referred to as Dudabulatula since Wanakamahaga is a clan name (used to refer to the clan as a whole and not just to a single member).

DEF: Einar CARLSON 30 y/o, West Releinthi City Image (Abanhfleft)
There's nothing much to distinguish Einar from all the other right backs in the Fleftic sphere of influence, but when it comes to getting the job done, he gets the job done come what may. Einar also used to play for Athletic Haritzaga (not to be confused with Real Haritzaga, another Peninsular team playing int the Fleftic pyramid) before making the move to West Releinthi, and his three years of residency in the colony made Einar eligible to play for the Fhulghamousian national team when it was first established by Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano.

DEF: Kay STEENSEN 24 y/o, Inter Norgrad Image (Endelos)
Kay showed up for a trial session for the Fhulghamousian national team one day just wanting to watch who would get to represent the colony to the rest of the multiverse when a football rolled towards him and he decided to play around with it and do a few dribbles, rabonas, and other such stunts. This attracted the attention of Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano, who was busy assembling the team, and a Rosenpfelblatz City scout by the name of Matthew Cave, and Kay found himself in both teams that same afternoon. Unfortunately for Kay, skills could only take him so far on the pitch for Rosenpfelblatz, arguably one of the top teams in Abanhfleft, and he found himself going to Underfell in Anglatia alongside Abanhfleft under-21 starlet Jeanine Stober in exchange for making permanent the then-two-year loan of Under-15 World Cup bronze medalist Blaze Chrzanowska. But following anti-Fleftic sentiments in Valeria at the end of the Nordskanian War (due to Abanhfleft's non-interference with the Pridnestrovian invasion of Nordskania despite the Treaty of Politovskaya which is basically now just a fancy piece of paper), Kay is on the move once again, this time to Inter Norgrad in Endelos.

DEF: Sokratis TZORVAS 32 y/o, Riuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft)
Since the Fhulghamous Peninsula national football team was formed with the express intention of competing in the Di Bradini Cup (aka the Under-21 World Cup), Sokratis wasn't really in Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano's radar when it came to recruiting players from the available pool. But when the Fhulghamous' bid for inclusion in the Di Bradini Cup met with failure, Governor Kulbano looked to local players from which to recruit players for the national team. Besides, Tzorvas had little if any links to the Fhulghamous except for the straw-grasping fact that people of Greek descent were representing the Fhulghamous. But now that Tzorvas' second cousin twice removed has become a colonial councilor alongside Rashidunnin Ali and Uriah Edison, Sokratis has been cleared to play for the Fhulghamous.

DEF: Aziz ZAMAN 26 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Image (Abanhfleft)
Aziz used to be one of the hottest young defenders in Abanhfleft, and by hot I mean that he had world class potential in all those football video games people love to use to predict who will become rising stars and who will be destined to become flops. Unfortunately it appears as if Aziz is headed for the "flop" route as his time in Sarvusdalamoive has been limited even as other Fleftic Premier League clubs keep raiding the Pinks for their top talents now that they've put an end to their reputation as a yo-yo club. Still, because of a lack of defenders willing to represent the Fhulghamous (Evangelos Christodoulopoulos being a prime example), Aziz keeps his place in the side for now.

MID: Samson LOVEJOY 30 y/o, Keephall Vikings Image (Abanhfleft)
In the few appearances for the Fhulghamous that he made from the bench, Samson showed that he was a capable defensive midfielder with a capability to send in shots from beyond the box and it was for this reason that Keephall picked him up to bolster their team in their campaign to return to the Fleftic Premier League (a job which they still haven't achieved after almost ten years of playing in the Unang Liga, the second tier of Fleftic football).

MID: Ferdinand TAVISTOCK 28 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)

MID: Brendan MEEKS 27 y/o, AC Sainati Image (The Askari Union)

FW: SALVATORE Pelucci 28 y/o, AFC Langtree Image (Mercedini)
Salvatore, Sebastiano Pelucci's twin brother, can play both as a central forward and as a winger, but he is truly most effective playing up front. He and Sebastiano used to be teammates in Riuwiee United before Salvatore was unexpectedly cut from the team by Georges Leblanc back when the Frenchman was still managing the Blue Tribesmen. Salvatore kept his footballing skills sharp by suiting up for amateur Fhulghamousian sides until Mercedini's AFC Langtree finally offered him a permanent contract to play for them. It looks like he likes being in Mercedini at the moment.
IMPORTANT: This player should be referred as Salvatore to differentiate him from his brother Sebastiano Pelucci.

HOME STADIUM (ARENA MARINOS, PORT THIMPODOPOULOS)
Image
Arena Marinos is the home ground of both FC Marinos Thimpodopoulos, which plays in Abanhfleft's Premier League (first level of the Fleftic football league system) and the Fhulghamous Peninsula national football team. It has a total capacity of 35,673 spectators. Now back in service after a magnitude 6.2 earthquake caused part of the stadium's roof to collapse and devastated the capital city of the colony, necessitating a lot of repairs.

RICHARD DAWKINS PARK, THEREISNOGODABAD
Image
Richard Dawkins Park has a capacity of 23,171 spectators. Following a magnitude 6.2 earthquake that devastated Port Thimpodopoulos, all Fhulghamous Peninsula home matches were held in RDP in Thereisnogodabad while repairs were being made on Arena Marinos. With Arena Marinos now fixed, both the Fhulghamous Peninsula Football Association and Thereisnogodistan FC have reached an agreement in which RDP will serve as an alternate venue for national team games in recognition for the time that Richard Dawkins Park served as the home stadium of the national team following the earthquake.

FOOTBALL HISTORY

Rejoice as the thick curtain that has surrounded the island state of Buyan for the past decade has been lifted – not without the help of a little firepower, that was. Some of you might recall that back in 2025 the reign of Kazys Portnii, a post-communist ruler with fairly ridiculous but, most of the time, clinically benign quirks was replaced by an iron-first tyrant in Henrik Luberg. The man, whom we until recently all had to call the General, replaced a sympathetically backward dictatorship by a harsh and repressive regime. Not afraid to murder a share of his citizens, it seemed sensible – well, to him – to lock down all the borders and give those still attempting to get away a bullet-induced death.

One of the least enjoyable side-effects of Lubergs paranoia were his decisions to declare that Buyanese at the ‘wrong’ side of the border – ‘wrong’ entirely depending on your point of view here - would no longer be considered citizens of his fierce republic. On top of that, he forbid any further representation of Buyanese national teams, presumably avoiding further fleeing opportunities. Too bad as especially when it came to football, the Hedgehogs had built up a pretty fine reputation so far. That their success had been based on the excellent effect from foreign managers Sirius Hope, Reinhard Shale and Chris Maarsden certainly was something the new regime did not want to be reminded of. A nice scroll of honour, including two qualifications for the World Cup, a Baptism of Fire victory and two Campionato Esportiva triumphs in only twelve year, reached a swift and painful end.

Besides a painful end for the national team, the domestic Top Division was suddenly stopped in its tracks as well. Even if organised football, according to the limited news that reaches us from behind the iron curtain, still continued, the group of gifted foreign players that developed over the years fled the nation – if they weren’t expelled. Grand names such as Viztourzys Kolektyvinis, winner of a Globe Cup and a CEdC, Bengtsmark IF, Champions Cup finalist and CEdC victor, and Blau-Weiss Pallstadt, the third club to win a regional title, no longer shine on the international platform. The amateur level, we can confirm, was numbingly drab and several magnificent names such as Tufte, Giertych, Dalmshelf and Lammerschon retired.

But the winter of 2033 saw a joyful change in atmosphere. It’s difficult to pinpoint what exactly ignited the fireworks in the political landscape of Buyan – some post-factum historians point to the revolutionary atmosphere in the whole Esportivan region, others lean to the deteriorating economic situation leading to hunger strikes and a third category claims it was due to a split amongst the closest supporters of the General, leaving Luberg exposed. Fact is that the straw that broke the camel’s back was an illegal publication with an overview of the ‘Best Buyanese Footballers’ which didn’t hesitate to laud those who earned their wage abroad such as Devold, Zemaitis and Marciak and included Sil Moen, probably the man Henrik Luberg feared most. His ludicrous reaction – burning piles of copies of everything football-related – started a popular uprising.

A few tens of thousands of deaths and a difficult yet – according to international observers ‘acceptably’ – open election later, the nation of Buyan had reincarnated in an enthusiast republic. Winning the election were the ‘Party of Liberators’, headed by no one but Sil Moen who added the title of President to a list that already contained former international and former manager. As could be predicted, his victory speech on the freshly rebranded Martyrs Square in the heart of Pajukas was met with a lot of applause, but mostly when he announced the return of the Top Division, the professional football competition, and the beloved Blue Hedgehogs.

These Hedgehogs celebrated their return to the World Cup qualifiers with a set of decent results but were no match for sides such as Barunia, Mriin & Farfadillis, to end up halfway their qualification group. An acceptable start which was followed by an astonishing semi-final in the Cup of Harmony and a similar result in the Campionato. However, the WC 79 qualifiers were a huge letdown and after an abominable start, the FA parted with Teriouris - who got replaced by Farf legend Ichi Tuzzio. His promising end run and quarterfinal result in the Cup of Harmony carried promise going into the tailend of this cycle.

STAFF

Manager: Ichi Tuzzio, Image

Without any doubt, being the fifth official manager of the Hedgehogs, Tuzzio is the one with the most impressive career as a player - although Maarsden earned the title of domestic legend as well. Notorious across the multiverse, he surprisingly chose the role of Buyanese manager as a launching platform for his career and managed do rekindle the spirits by reconnecting Isaksson and Eklund, the offensive axis of this team. Not afraid to adapt the tactical scheme according to the needs, this manmanager gives Buyan a chance to refind its former glory.

When you flee your home country knowing that every second of hold-up could be the second too much, there is stuff you forget. Old photographs. Food in the fridge. Large domesticated animals. And, apparently, the marvellous national shirts that were provided by AER Sportswear. Luckily for the UFC, Krytenia-based multinational kit provider JMC showed compassion, providing them with the magnificent shirts displayed above. When returning to Buyan, it appeared that Sil Moen still had those in his suitcase and as most of the groundkeeping staff in the national stadium had found an untimely death, the old ones probably never will be recovered. As nice as the JMC ones were, they were from the UFC, not from Buyan. As such, No Nonsense Sportwear was contacted for a third rendition of the national jersey and boy… Did they deliver. We might lose, but we’ll lose in style.

HOME GROUND

Image
The Nine @ Dyatinsk (57,000 seats)

It's big, it's build on an unpractical location and if we believe the contractor, it's build on a swamp.
But it's also state of the art and featured some games in the Campionato Esportiva IX, hence the name. We’re aware it’s not being used this tournament, but the gargantuan leasing contract forces us to advertise it.

Image
STYLE & TACTICS

Style Modifier: -1

Ichi Tuzzio is quite flexible tactically, diverting between any system that allows two strikers up front and Isaksson feeding them but between the stakes, there is no way to get past Pawlo Marciak - captain and a living legend amongst Buyanese. For years on end, he’s now been at the top of the Nepharim Premiership - for Buyanese the competition they consider as the toughest one out there. Despite his age, he still has got the reflexes and he rules the box. Especially for the young defenders in front of him, he’s gold. Domestic champions Gularis is a good back-up and might get some playing minutes in a dead rubber. Bo Pallson might start worrying he’ll never get past these two old cats before some youngsters manage to sideline him.

The defence relies on a trio in the back which will without any doubt be lead by Viggo Stromberg. Despite his age, he can bow on extensive experience with Bengtsmark and the national team - he leads without fear. For this campaign, we expect Haugland - learning quickly at Pikemouth and great focus - and good header Bjorklund next to him. However, the latter had a mediocre campaign and could get replaced by Antek Zych, a sure fix - always good, never exceptional. On the left wing, we see a veteran of many wars in Espen Raestad - still pacy with a decent cross - but at last, Kalle Nordin managed to move him to the bench. The opposite position is a bit of an issue - Okmiankas has good volume but struggles to always make the right choice whilst Grochala is decent, but untested on an international level.

The midfield has a typical lay-out of three types. First of all, there is a breaker and who but Scaffield hero at day, lumberjack at night Micaukis is a perfect match for that role? Experienced and tough. Alternatives are in Chmiel - improving rapidly at Bengtsmark - and youngster Waldow - silent force behind a good Ernesse season. In the number eight, we get a runner whose lungs compensate for everyone else. Gunnar Karlsson makes that position perfectly - a near-Knutsen some historicals say. But he starts to gets edged out by Hedlund, who lacks the raw physicality of the former but manages to bring more brains in the position as he showed in an impeccable debut season in the Premiership. Other alternative is Dobas, silent but good and with a fine shot on goal. Last but not least, there is an artist, an architect on the ten and Valter Isaksson is uncontested there. Brilliant player, great attitude, fits in the tradition of The Great Buyanese such as Devold or Kluszak. His heir to be is Reidar Bjelland, a diamond who is getting honed and who should learn from the hunger for perfection from Isaksson. Nyberg is the closest thing to wingers-who-is-no-wingback Buyan has to offer these days: pace, two good feet and polyvalent - his move to Avenida could add something to his skillset.

Lastly, the partnership in attack is based around a long, tall striker and a more flexible attacker circling around him, trying to live of whatever gets dropped off. Buyan has a pretty strong batch of targetmen these days - however, the starting position will definitely go to Emil Eklund who just broke the transfer sum record. The Ten Million Man excels in the key games and took the Schottian competition by storm. Alternative is young talent Ekhard Gustloff who rocked the Top Division, showing consistency when under pressure. For the ‘quick guy’, there’s less wiggle room. Preference from Tuzzio sometimes goes to former Viztourzys man Kaukenas. He’s got an eye for goals, a bit of a poacher but is difficult to rely on. Hotblooded, some would say. Jon Fossum, on the other hand, developed quickly over the last few years and his fine Campionato should give him minutes on the pitch.

Penalties: Valter Isaksson (if not available, Micaukis, Haukland, Eklund)
Indirect free kicks: Simen Haukland
Direct free kicks: Valter Isaksson
Corners, left side: Valter Isaksson

Likely to be booked: Algiris Micaukis (professional fault), Svante Bjorklund (clumsy tackle), Povilas Kaukenas (poor conduct)

Vice-captains: Valter Isaksson & Algiris Micaukis

THE CHIEFDOM OF COPPER CUPRUM
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the third time that Copper Cuprum will be participating in the Campionato Esportiva. Copper Cuprum had been long isolated from the international community since it is a small island archipelago located deep in the middle of the Lazarus Ocean, far from any regular shipping lanes since man first sailed ships. The nation was only discovered by the Fleftic Navy in 1914, when they were searching for the daughter of President Rufus Wole Mensah, whose ship was wrecked in the general vicinity of the islands. Arriving in the capital of the islands, they discovered that Chief Zed had made the President's daughter his queen, generating a sudden alliance between the two countries. And Copper Cuprum was also rich in copper, so that was a good thing for Abanhfleft too...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation:
The Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum
Demonym: Copperite
Kits: The Copper Cuprum national football team does not wear any kits as ordinary people know them. Instead they play wearing only white loincloths, studded shoes, shin guards. The keeper also has gloves along with the aforementioned kit.
Team colors: Black and white
Style modifier: +1.00 (A balanced team with a slight focus on offense)
Formation: 4-5-1
Head coach: Jefferson Kalangitan (52 y/o, Oontaz)
Notes: It is Copperite tradition to slit the throat of a live chicken before a game and then spread the spilled blood on the field. However, after the Valladar authorities advised the Copperite Football Federation against performing this tradition after local audiences were shocked by this tradition, it has been decided that in place of this tradition, Copperite players will now cut off the head of a rubber chicken before a game and then toss the head around like a hot potato. However, Copperite players will now perform the chicken sacrificing ritual whether or not the other team likes it. The Copperites hope to turn this tradition into their version of the haka. Also, this is Kalangitan's first head managing job after the Malabon SC assistant manager accepted to take over the Copperite side following the sacking of Duke Dorogi Dorogo due to the team's poor results in the Campionato Esportiva.

STARTERS
GK: Enera TEMOYO
34 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image
Quite short for a keeper, but he does the job well enough to be the starting keeper for Athletic Wa Gon, the marquee team of the Copper Cuprum National League. But this doesn't mean much as the National League is considered as the least competitive of the leagues in the countries within Abanhfleft's sphere of influence.

RB: Tumoka BATUBA 30 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz North End Image (Abanhfleft)
Solid right back, but still quite raw for his age. Sometimes advances a little too far into the offense to the other backs' liking. Thinks of himself as a wingback, but simply doesn't have the speed or the feet to get quickly between offense and defense and can't make a cross to save his life. Still gets lucky sometimes, though.

RCB: Ziketsy TUKUKU 21 y/o, Copper Cuprum Halal Commission Image

LCB: Derek CHIDAGI 31 y/o, Miroz Old Boys Image (Abanhfleft)
An immigrant to Abanhfleft that decided to play for his motherland after all. He's probably the only really good defender in this lot, and therefore bears the brunt of the defensive work for the team. He still has his problems, though, meaning that he will think nothing of tripping up any opposing players that are goalbound. Will probably concede a lot of penalties.

LB: Esteke INANUK 35 y/o, Handon United Image (Schottia)
Not really the best defender in Copper Cuprum, but certainly not the worst one either. Truth be told, though, he only looks good because many of his other teammates are shit. Placed in a world-class back line, he'd be the first player that disappears from notice. But when Inanuk performs well, he performs well and in a sublime manner. Earned a well-deserved move to Handon United in Schottia where he has been quietly doing his job as always.

RM: Boyote TOROTO 32 y/o, Sporting Busov Image (Abanhfleft)
Holds the midfield good enough, but still makes mistakes from time to time. Attacks from time to time but really hinders more than helps.

CM: Tabaré ZUÑIGA 35 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)
Now that Prince Deg's favoritism for members of his personal retinue his injury woes have finally been cleared up, Tabaré is finally getting that well-deserved spot in the starting eleven, but it may have come too late for Copper Cuprum though, as Tabaré's already 34 at this point in time and he's not going to get any younger. He used to be more of a box-to-box midfielder but age has caught up with Tabaré and the team now relies on him being the rock in the midfield between the Copperite defense and the opposition's attack.

LM: Morefor TOFODO 34 y/o, General Santos F.C. Image (Oontaz)
Doesn't show up in big games, yet doesn't show up in minor games also. Surprising why he got included in the starting eleven at all. The fact that he's part of Prince Deg's retinue may have something to do with it, though. But now we know why Tofodo starts for Copper Cuprum: it's because of his wicked good set pieces. Free kicks, corner kicks, penalty kicks (when Prince Deg is unavailable, of course); you name it, Morefor Tofodo can actually take it.

RW: Opatop LAZAROVSKI 31 y/o, Sheriff Tiraspol Image (Pridnestrovia)
Half Pridnestrovian and half Copperite, he almost played for his father's country before Prince Deg conferred upon him a peerage that convinced him to play for Copper Cuprum. He is a half-decent winger that nevertheless will not be able to get into the starting eleven of any other nation in the world.

CF: Prince DEG 33 y/o, unattached, captain
The Crown Prince of Copper Cuprum and heir apparent of Chief Gon. Prince Deg is also the head of the Copperite Football Federation, a position that he created by royal decree after creating the federation, also by royal decree. He bills himself as "the best center forward in the multiverse," but so far he hasn't done anything to back up that claim. At the moment, even Abanhfleft's Kareem Dagen plays better than Prince Deg.

LW: Tyrone ZUDAZET 34 y/o, Gyouza Young Lads Image (Abanhfleft)
Another member of Prince Deg's retinue that nevertheless deserves his place in the starting eleven. A landed noble with a barony under his fief, Zudazet is half-Fleftic and plays for a club in the Democratic Republic while at the same time flying the Copperite flag proudly.

SUBSTITUTES
GK: Nikoba LOBATO
20 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image

GK: Torege BITAMBO 29 y/o, Sporting Busov Image (Abanhfleft)
Backup keeper, currently serving as Temoyo's understudy. Could become next national keeper if something very bad happens to Temoyo. Luck (and time) don't appear to be on his side though as he has been displaced from backup keeper to reserve goalkeeper by Temoyo's actual understudy from Athletic Wa Gon, Nikoba Lobato.

DEF: Tenoka ITORO 32 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image (Oontaz)
Described by Prince Deg himself as "The Big Man." Competes with Desoka for the honor of being like Adebayo "The Beast" Akinfenwa. Pushes opponents left and right for a bit of morning exercise. And don't get me started on calisthenics.

DEF: Lazar DENISOV 20 y/o, Admiral Tuzla Image (Pridnestrovia)

DEF: Idaran SOBODO 34 y/o, Pamunas F.C. Image (Abanhfleft)
Some of the players in the reserves are only there because there is a need by the World Cup Committee to have enough substitutes in every position. Sobodo is filling in for one of those emergency positions. But looking beyond Prince Deg's obvious favoritism tough task of organizing a capable Copperite team, Sobodo does have his uses, mainly attracting yellow cards and red cards from the referee. But when he doesn't find his name in the book, Sobodo does a good enough job of pumping crosses into the box and tripping up the opposition players trying to do the same in the Copperite box.

CM: Amitu SUDEBA 29 y/o, Ken Gon United Image

MID: Sitere BUWATA 30 y/o, Duhblakk Rovers Image (Abanhfleft)
This kid has a future in midfield, what with his flashy playmaking style. He's only in defense because he's been put there by the Fleftics at Duhblakk. Turns out that was only a move to improve the defensive side of his game, and with six years gone, surely Buwata has finally hit his peak?

MID: Umaga HAROBA 28 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image

MID: Paul MAGINOO 19 y/o, General Santos F.C. Image (Oontaz)

FW: Aramok TODEYET 30 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
We need backup forwards, even though none of them can possibly replace Prince Deg in the starting eleven, unless of course the Prince gets injured.

FW: Douglas JAMESON 20 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)

FW: Wesley WEYLER 20 y/o, FC Afa-az Image (Abanhfleft)

FORMATION

HOME STADIUM: PRINCESS HAWANA STADIUM

Princess Hawana Stadium (capacity 57,104) is the new Copperite national football team's home stadium. Located in Bed Gon, the second largest city of Copper Cuprum, it is also the home ground of Atletico Bed Gon of the Copperite National League.

FILINDOSTAN
National Football Team
Campionato Esportiva XXI

The Filindostan Football Federation is pleased to present the Filindostan National football team, to compete in the 21st Campionato Esportiva, in Fhulghamous Peninsula and Copper Cuprum. The current Baptism of Fire champions had a solid first cycle in association football, winning the tournament for newcomer nations, almost qualifying for the World Cup, and getting out of the group stages at the subsequent Cup of Harmony. The Pula Garudas hope that they better their last edition's result at the Campionato Esportiva - advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

About the Filindostan Football Federation

The Filindostan Football Federation (FFF) was founded after they split from the Filindostani National Sports Commission (FNSC), citing the FNSC's tainted image during the Multiverse Boxing Organization boxing tournament and the budget cut the agency suffered. The newly-established federation caters to the nation's footballing affairs and sanctions the selection of the senior, under-21 and under-15 squads. The FNSC will remain the agency for fielding other national football teams that are not sanctioned by the FFF.

The FFF's headquarters are located in San Marco, Filindostan, and is headed by Estrelitta "Estie" Barzagia.

Playing Squad

In Filindostan, people are often called by their nickname. Some players opt to put their nickname instead of the customary last name in their kits. The shirt names for the squad are noted by ALL CAPS. So for example, Alexander Jampang's shirt name in his kit is ALEX JAMPANG. Likewise Antonio Rafael Vera will have his kit name as TONYO.

The following players are called up into the national team for the tournament.

Goalkeepers

1 | GK | Gerry Nafari "GERRY" Nasution | M | 27 | Perokojak Kota Jakulta
32 | GK | ABRAM Jampang | M | 27 | Venividicci
91 | GK | Antonio Rafael "TONYO" Vera | M | 21 | Fortunas

Gerry is the most experienced of the goalkeeper pool and will most likely get the starting nod in the opening game for the Pula Garuda. Should he have a dip in form or concede too many goals for Willy's liking or should they face a low-ranked team, it will most likely be Abram who will take the reins. Albeit with cat-like reflexes, his ball delivery needs improvement and might most likely to allow opposing strikers to intercept the deliveries he make. Tonyo, being the youngest keeper, is good at reading the game, however, his lack of command to his defenders, unless your defender is the Empress herself, has undermined his reputation at times.

Left/Rightbacks

2 | LB | Eliza Maria Milagros "MILA" KHALIFA | F | 26 | Venividicci
3 | LCB | CASIMIR Likumahuwa | M | 24 | Fortunas
17 | RB | Leona Stella Marie "LEOMARIE" Ipac | F | 24 | Fortunas
68 | RB | Remus Graci "GRACI" Tessin | M | 21 | Venividicci

Mila Khalifa proved that she can be a reliable left back during her stint in Venividicci and the national team. She can cover flanks quickly and can provide much needed wing support when the left winger runs deep at left flank. Casimir showed in the BoF that he is a serviceable left back, and his capability to play centerback in makeshift situations proves to be a plus for him. Graci has the pace to be a wingback, though he has not seen much time in the Pula Garuda shirt. Leomarie returns to the national team after an impressive outing with Fortunas domestically last season. Enzo's sending off at the Cup of Harmony meant that that was his last international match for the Pula Garudas, as he announced his international retirement two months after the tournament ended.

Centerbacks

4 | CB | Dina Nadya "DINA" SATYAWAN | F | 30 | Fortunas
5 | CB | Alexander "ALEX" JAMPANG | M | 29 | Perouno Bandarito
27 | CB | KARTIO Weici | F | 19 | Perokojak Kota Jakulta
88 | CB | Jeferson Martin "BUKNOY" Salcedo | M | 22 | Perotres Bandaroon

The "Filindostani Empress of Defense", captain and oldest player in the team, Dina Satyawan, will lead the centerbacks in the tournament. She will be partnered however not by Buknoy, but with experienced centerback Alex Jampang. Buknoy, which the Filindostani media has declared the weakest link of the team the last tournament they entered, will be backing up the two instead with promising youngster Kartio. Dina Satyawan has been very good at defense this season for Fortunas, and while she picks up yellow cards now and then (due to professional fouls), she's been making up with it with crucial game-saving tackles. Alex Jampang is one big stud, a key factor for centerbacks fighting for headers and joustling for ball possession. His headers are on point and sometimes very unpredictable - one time he can put deceiving spins in glancing headers, other times, he can drill the ball to the goal. His weakness is handling quick strikers due to his height and build. Buknoy lacked what Alex Jampang can provide - but during his stint with Perotres, he can read the movements of the opposing player and make quick decisions about them. Nothing is noteworthy for Kartio at the moment, except that she has Under-21 experience, playing in the Di Bradini Cup for the young Pula Garuda, where some of her weaknesses were exposed - she didn't see much action in the tournament due to Willy preferring experienced players. She did make her first senior cap though against Northwest kalactin, after replacing Alex Jampang due to a caution.

Left/Right Midfielders

48 | RM | Morty Muriel "MMM" Mescano | M | 21 | Perouno Bandarito
44 | LCM | DAMARIS Cambo | M | 23 | Perotapam Massakar
71 | RM | Donna Morielle "DOMO" Delos Santos-Strauss | F | 29 | Fortunas
39 | LM | ZEMIRA ZAI | F | 31 | Fortunas

Domo retains her starting position and will provide dangerous crosses and corners whenever possible. For sure, she'll be a marked player for the team. Damaris has proved that he can be a good left winger, delivering loads of dangerous crosses in the midfield. One challenge though for the right midfielders is how will they cope with defending when Enzo or Graci perform the overlap and sometimes overextend. MMM solves that problem, with his pace and defending, he'll sure be a lynchpin for the aging right midfielder. Zemira Zai was a surprise inclusion in Willy's lineup, despite not playing much time in the qualifiers. She'll not be used much, as Willy prefers to mix it up and put Mila Khalifa in the left midfield position in some tricks in his playbook.

Central Midfielders

22 | CM | His Excellency "KING" Tisang | M | 26 | New Llama Capitals (Super-Llamaland)
28 | CM | Muhammad "MOHD" SAFRI | M | 20 | Venividicci
43 | CM | SIHARTO | M | 23 | Perotres Bandaroon
10 | CM | Manny Jacob Lou "YAKOB" Rivas | M | 24 | Perouno Bandarito

King is a genius when taking set pieces and his passing has improved as the season goes along. His only downside? His short temper. He was banned two FFL games after a verbal spat with a referee for a non-call during a league match. He was sent off and banned fifteen competitive matches during Filindostan's win over Northwest kalactin. Mohd Safri will now have to play without depending on King for the first thirteen matches. He is good on his own though, reads opponents' movements quickly, and is like a sticker to the ball - he rarely loses it. Siharto meanwhile, is a serviceable power sub at central midfield. He is also inserted in case of a 4-5-1 or 3-5-2 formations. Manyakol is a sleek penalty taker and can run very fast in the center of the midfield. His weaknesses are his temper and can irritate most of the female players due to his sly behaviour off the pitch.

Forwards

9 | FW | Boris Choel "BOCHOG" San Lupe | M | 22 | Fortunas
99 | FW | FIZZY Ramdani | F | 28 | Fortunas
55 | FW | BIENVENIDO Arespacochaga | M | 23 | Perokojak Kota Jakulta
19 | FW | Marish Luzanie "YISH" Sta. Lucia | F | 23 | Venividicci

Bochog had less-than-spectacular in the solo forward role for Pula Garuda in their matches, he now takes the support striker role to feed the balls to Bienvenido and help put rebounds to the back of the net. The attacking forward role will now go to Bienvenido, who torched defenses while playing in Perokojak Kota Jakulta. He will be a target man, and he's equipped with a powerful left foot. Yish grabbed many goals during the BoF and World Cup qualifying campaigns, and will most likely partner Bienvenido or Bochog in the starting lineup. Fizzy returned to the team after declining her call-up for the Baptism of Fire. She'll most likely not start all matches due to a rumored spat with Vicky during one of the trainings, probably the main reason she declined the call-up.

Play Style
Image
Style Modifier: +2.201
The play style of the team is f a more attacking lineup, looking to score more goal scoring opportunities. The team usually utilize pacey wingers to deliver dangerous balls to the penalty box, usually during coordinated attacks.

Filindostani players are usually physical, especially defenders like Alex Jampang, and left midfielder Ryan, as he is a former member of the Filindostani Army. Cautions are mostly common due to their physical plays.

Kits
Image

Local kit supplier, No Nonsense, provides the kits for the Pula Garuda. The kits will be used until the World Cup 81 season. The home kits are clad in red and are usually paired with black shorts and white socks. For color clashes in shorts and socks, they use their all red kit. Their alternate kit is white, usually with red shorts and socks, but can be black shorts and white socks in case of color clashes. The goalie kit is all black (or in black shorts and socks), but in case of color clashes, a yellow version of the GK kit is available.

Team RP and Permissions
The below information will help teams RP against my team in case they RP first.

Fans
Filindostani fans are double-edged swords - sometimes they are most passionate fans in Filindostan, sometimes, they can be compared to the worst of internet trolls. Around five thousand diehard fans will travel to the host nation to watch their team play - but they usually bring their megaphones and flares with them - they somehow make it past the guards. Some fans are crazy enough to invade the pitch and cause match delays.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my lineup: Yes
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod scoring events: No
RP injuries to my players: Yes - I'll determine the severity.
Godmod injuries to my players: No - Absolutely no death here please.
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes
Godmod other events: No

LLAMANEAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL ROSTER - CE21

Another year, and despite a draw with Eura, another narrow group stage exit - this time at the hands of Chromatika, who managed to finish the Tigers off with a late winner in the final match of the group stage. Curtis Steeling has made a lot of progress, and defending his regional crown would be an excellent way to start another cycle.

Style Modifier: 0
Team Nickname: The Tigers
Manager: Curtis Steeling
RP Permissions: Don’t kill/injure for life, TG if unsure about godmodding.
Llamaneans tend not to rack up cards/get in fights.
Pick my lineup (reasonably) and scorers.

Goalkeeping Coach: Michael Kerraway
Defense Coach: Ryan Reagan
Attacking Coach: Bobby Crosby
Team Trainer: Meghan Correia
Head Advance Scout: Jack Saucedo
Video Coordinator: Christine Da Silva
Formation

Steeling’s tactics have changed direction since his appointment to manage the Llamanean national team, adopting a new tactical scheme coined by the media as 'explosive football'. It is a policy which now includes 4 players at the back, rather than 5. A more possessive style of football is played, with a focus still on defence, but the team has more of a policy of keeping the ball than before, passing it around the back. The team will have sudden (explosive) bursts of attacks, where they will advance quickly on the opposition in phases, and get a load of shots at once, overloading the defence of the opposition team, before referring back to their original, more defensive format. Counter-attacks are also used occasionally as a viable form of attack when out of possession and when being rapidly attacked when the chance arises, but the team is a much more possessive, pass around the team, slowly work their way to a goal style of play.

Come Through in the Clutch - Miroslav Vorobyov, Adrian Lindberg, Ansel Penbrooke

#01 - Lukas BERNHOLM - Rozelle (BRE) - 31
Bernholm, while not an acrobatic shot-stopper, is a solid keeper who rarely makes mistakes, is strong aerially (not just because of his imposing height), and is known for being a strong locker-room presence who leaves everything on the field. Strong with distribution and a consistently decent keeper, but overtaken by Sheffield’s play.
#13 - Markus SHEFFIELD - Chenoweth Harriers (NPH) - 30
Known for being able to stop a disproportionate amount of penalties, Sheffield is very athletic. Still extremely aggressive, but rounded out a bit in Chromatika over two seasons with Depri Sanar before being forced out of the nation. He’s landed on his feet, however, and in the Nepharim leagues, where he’s thrived, setting him up for a chance to regularly start for the Tigers.
#23 - Marcos SANTANA - Emerald City Harmony - 22
Possibly Super-Llamaland’s next starting keeper, Marcos Santana is an immense talent - well-known for his distribution, and an athletic (if raw) shot-stopper.

#02 - L/CB - Adrian LINDBERG - Real Azuris (COS) - 35 [C]
Captain. Leader. Champion’s Cup winner with Real Azuris. Adrian Lindberg has quickly become one of the best Llamaneans in the world. His athleticism is remarkable, he's high in stamina, and he has a natural gift for positioning. Not only that, but he’s also polished himself well, and rarely makes mistakes. Someone that was named the nation's best college player consecutive years and who has grown into his potential, even if he’s been forced into a more limited and defensive-minded role with the national team.
#03 - RCB/DM - Georgia RODRIGUES - Creed United (NPH) - 26
Rodrigues is as talented, athletic, and versatile as ever despite the removal of foreigners from the Chromatik leagues and the shutdown of the Transtopian leagues. Her stamina and positioning mean she can play both as a marauding right-back, a sweeper, or a defensive-midfielder. She’s always been one to watch for the future, but a move to the Nepharim Premiership has made her a serious threat to Emily Ynoa’s job security.
#06 - CB - Emily YNOA - Brookport Otters (NPH) - 30
A quick, classy center-back who's willing to sacrifice her body to stop shots and make tackles. A smart player with strong positioning and a knack for anticipating passes. Also a strong man-marker, and overall a great fit for Explosive Football.
#14 - LB - Luke SVENSSON - Lammerton (SCH) - 26
Exceptionally athletic and even more polished than he was as a teenager starting for the Tigers, Svensson is widely expected to start this World Cup cycle. Despite some doubts over whether he could stand up to the pressure, Svensson has entrenched himself into Lammerton's starting lineup as a dangerous two-way fullback with his athleticism, finesse, and composure.
#16 - RB - Francesca ABEL - Diamondqueen (NPH) - 26
Came out of nowhere to become one of Harmony’s best players at right wingback before leaving for Nephara. More conservative and defensive-minded than Van Dijk, her competition for a starting spot, but an excellent defender whose passing makes her invaluable to Steeling’s Explosive Football.
#20 - L/RB - Kris STRAUSBERG - Emerald City Harmony - 33
Kris Strausberg is an exceptionally unique player. For one thing, after a horrific bus crash suffered when he was sixteen, he no longer has a left arm. For another thing, he’s extremely fast, but tends to leverage this into making bold runs up either flank rather than actually keeping up with the opponent's’ attackers. Still, his strong on-ball play and passable marking make him a valuable asset.
#24 - L/CB - Emily GUSTAV - Viztourzys Kolektyvynis (BYN) - 22
A fairly polished defender who’s managed to break into the first team of Harmony - the owner of the best defense in SuperLleague - at a very young age. Capable of going forwards as well, although she can’t do much in the air. A strong candidate to replace Adrian Lindberg.
#27 - RB - Jonathan VAN DIJK - FC Endeavor (APX) - 24
Van Dijk showed immense potential at the Di Bradini Cup, his speed and agility enabling him to bomb forwards and embarrass opposing players who try to stop him, and he’s solid defensively too. Shocked everyone with a move to Apox, and continued to stun by being named to the league’s team of the season. Now the favorite to start.

#08 - CM - Damian BAO - Anmen Athletic - 22
The youth team revelation is absolutely tireless, but at the same time is one of the fastest players on the team. His positioning and vision make him an expert at filling the role Ryan Reagan wanted him to fill for the U21s, but his penchant for landing accurate long-passes and his athleticism will make him a perfect fit for Explosive Football as well. Has made the jump to a starting spot, and seriously impressed at CE20.
#17 - CM - Jason SANTANA - Nandaozhou Sharks - 31
Santana has had his share of issues off the field. However, he seems to have recovered from a brief bout with drug addiction and his best days are still ahead of him. A somewhat quick, technically adept midfielder whose calling card is his stamina and strong positioning. Could get a shot at a starting position, but he’ll need to work even harder for it.
#18 - DM - Nemanja VESELY - Somer City and Surrounds (ETM) - 35
The six-six but agile Vesely was a basketball prospect until fourteen, when he picked up a second sport over frustration from not being picked for the highest-caliber youth basketball team in the nation. Quick-tempered and volatile, Vesely nevertheless has great work ethic and isn’t much of a problem for team chemistry. Athletic and dangerous on set pieces, with strong passing skills, and the experienced midfielder’s calmed down a lot with Somer City.
#21 - CM/CAM/RW - Elias MØLLER - Samaj FC (COS) - 24
While Möller is half-Llamanean, nobody expected the young ex-Dinamo star to play for anyone but the Arondic national team, making his call up a huge surprise. It could be important, too - the youngster has already shown flashes of brilliance both as a winger and an advanced playmaker, and he possesses both strength and speed in buckets. Still a little bit raw, especially with his finishing, but rapidly becoming a star. His athleticism and creativity have launched him into the starting lineup at 21.
#39 - CDM - Leonard ABEL - Dinamo Visånd (ARN) - 24
A solid holding midfielder and former U21. Very polished and an adept ball-winner and defensive midfielder, but he won’t do much offensively outside of set-pieces.
#40 - CAM - Stefan RINALDI - Exton (APX) - 27
Rinaldi, who supporters hope will be buoyed by a transfer to the ANL, has a unique ability to scan an opposing defense and make the perfect pass, although he’s poor under pressure and best deployed in a slower-paced match.

#07 - LW/LM - Eva VELASQUEZ - Eastweald (COS) - 29
Velasquez is fast, agile, and possesses impeccable technique. However, while one would expect Velasquez, who trained in AC Bartolome's academy for three years, to adopt a flashier playstyle, she's instead far more direct and focused - although she can use tricks to get out of a pinch, she'll rarely use them if she doesn't have to. A decent distributor who developed a fantastic free-kick at Myana before making the move to Eastweald, where she’s now reaching her peak as a winger.
#9 - ST - Sophia TREVELYAN - Klyde (COS) - 30
Trevelyan made history in 2014 by becoming the first Eastham-born (she has dual citizenship) woman to play in Eastham’s top tier, IslandLeague One, and since then she’s excelled at every challenge she’s faced. A strong playmaker from everywhere on the pitch, quick and agile enough to set up her own chances; decent enough at finishing to score off said chances, but also versatile enough to play as a False Nine. Easily the most underrated player on this roster.
#10 - ST - Ansel PENBROOKE - Bishop (NPH) - 32 [VC]
Considered the heir to Cartwright’s throne, Penbrooke has set milestone after milestone. Patistan offered him forty million dollars and he declined to head over to one of the best youth teams in the world. Penbrooke is very athletic, and maturation in Apox, Vilita, and now Nephara have turned his potential and talent into a top-notch striker. Expected to continue leading the line for years to come.
#11 - AM/RW - Miroslav VOROBYOV - FC Samotath (COS) - 35
Vorobyov has excelled in Cosumar with Samotath, and his quick, incisive presence, intelligence with the ball, and ability to break defenses with his runs makes him best on the flanks or as a WC74 Felix Rasmussen-esque free-floating CAM. Not very strong, but exceptionally agile and creative, and his thin frame hides a fierce long-distance shot.
#30 - FW - Chelsea YAO - Nandaozhou Sharks - 30
Named the best player in the SuperLleague last season, Chelsea Yao was ostensibly a winger for Sharks but ended up playing as more of an inside-forward. Whatever her position, even if she’s most the quickest or strongest, her acceleration, agility and technique make her hard to keep up with on the right wing, and she’s an absolutely prolific goal-scorer who can make her own chances or create for others.

South Covello National Team Roster

Nickname: Rebels
Style modifier: -5

Head Coach: Richard Hawkins
Assistant Head Coaches: Vinnie LaGuche and Joey Egermeister

After World Cup 79 and the South Covellan Revolution, the feisty Rebels elected to turn things over to the next generation. Richard Hawkins, previously the star goalkeeper, was named head coach, but the entire team was new. Vinnie LaGuche returned as well, as an assistant coach, and was joined by Joey Egermeister, a proud supporter of the Revolution and lifelong soccer fan who previously served as Acting President of the South Covello Soccer Federation after the Gregists were overthrown.

Hawkins and his staff hand-picked the new stars, and to his pleasant surprise he was able to find a young goalie who was almost athletic as he was, in Matthew Tyler. Tyler was just 19 years old and already almost as good as Hawkins was. In time, he would probably even surpass him. The rest of the team filled in nicely as well, defensively minded as always, and, as many of them had grown up idolizing the strong defensive wall, first for the Foot Slaves and then the Rebels, this led many of them to become defenders as well. So the good old Rebel Wall was still there, great and strong as ever. The team wouldn’t be letting in many goals this cycle, it sure seemed.

The Rebels would be playing a defensive 4-5-1 this cycle, with the sole striker being the young, awesomely named star Coconut Charles. The Coconut name, of course, was a direct insult to the Gregists, Lord Almighty Gregory and the others who forbid the mere mention of the work. It was sure to be a spectacular future.

World Ranking:
10th
Preferred Formation: 4-4-1-1
Backup Formations: 4-2-3-1
Style Modifier: -1.5
Home Stadium: Kingsgarden - a 58,000 all-seater in the capital of Rozelle.
Kit Supplier: JMC
Nickname: the Patriots

After the departure of Catherine Bardsley, the Patriots managed something of a coup in picking up Jim Reid, the mastermind behind Port Christopher's surprising record of success at international level. This is a traditional period for Reid, as many veteran stars of the Patriots either jump or are pushed from international duty and a new set of young talent must be blooded. The result is somewhat ramshackle, but the quality is there to compete for the trophy too.

First Team and Tactics
Image
Jim Reid focuses on a tight-knit 4-1-4-1 formation, two solid banks of four glued together with a world-class defensive midfielder in the captain, Gryphon. The defence is strong and tight, the central midfield combining physicality and technique with the wingers the main creative outlets. Up front, the striker must forge something of a lonely path, pressing from the front and holding up the ball for support. It's a physically uncompromising, dour side. When they need to chase a match, Balliol can arrive in an attacking midfield role as the side switches to 4-2-3-1.

Staff
Manager - Jim Reid (PCR) - Age 48
Asst. Manager - Colm Beckwith - Age 45

Jim Reid was the backbone behind the inexplicably successful Port Christopher national football team for years, a former striker who based his success on a simple, disciplined approach. He built his sides from the back, made sure everyone knew what they had to do and then pumped them up to a point where they'd run through walls, walk over coal and, more literally, form micronations for him. Colm Beckwith, the incumbent assistant manager, has kept his place, and is thought of as a keen, progressive sort.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Mathis Woodgate (Image Spartangrad) - Age 33 - 145 caps, 55 clean sheets
A world-class pure shot-stopper, reliable and solid. Has had something of a nomadic club career, playing in five nations, but his class has never been in doubt.

12 - GK - Rostyn Calhoun (Image Barbury Town) - Age 26 - 12 caps, 8 clean sheets
Still young, still raw, and prone to the occasional howler. On the whole, though, he's a big, acrobatic lad and has impressed for the national team.

20 - GK - Aidan Hartigan (Image Metropolis Alligators) - Age 27 - 2 caps, 1 clean sheets
Has recovered from having too many hopes around his shoulders to become a redoubtable shot-stopper. Tall, athletic and quick-footed.

Defenders
2 - RB - Brun Carrack (Image Bengtsmark IF) - Age 26 - 32 caps
Elegant and willowy, Carrack's a defender first and foremost. Good all around, but her anticipation usually puts her in the right place at the right time.

3 - LB - Gethin Quill (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 25 - 24 caps
Short and stocky, Quill's a quick, powerful runner and isn't afraid to show a little muscle defending his corner. A dirty street-fighter with the technique to back it. Made the current Boldsport Galactico shortlist.

5 - CB - Cheney Heneghan (Image Ernesse Stahl) - Age 26 - 15 caps
A big, brawny defender, a man's man, all action all the time. Strong and tough comes standard for centre-halves, but fast is a nice boost on top of that. Just don't ask him to play the ball out.

6 - CB - Niko Szubanski (Image 1830 Cathair) - Age 29 - 43 caps, 1 goal
Poor with the ball at his feet, Szubanski's main asset is his physicality. Not just tall and strong, but fast for a centre-half, with a penchant for sliding challenges.

18 - CB - Garwyn Varney (Image Soldarian FC) - Age 25 - 9 caps
Raw power, physicality and unbridled Brenecian sexual energy. Still a little clumsy and prone to bundling people over, but he's shed some of his coltishness with experience abroad.

19 - LB - Siri Cattalock (Image CA Paulinthal) - Age 26 - 10 caps, 1 goal
Capable of playing anywhere along the left flank, Cattalock's a pacy, athletic and versatile player. Perhaps she's not as solid defensively as might be hoped.

22 - CB - Russ Linvoy (Image Kirk Preston United) - Age 24 - Uncapped
Not the most disciplined presence at the back, but someone who has a knack nevertheless of being in the right place at the right time. Strong and physical.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Catherine Gryphon (Image Cornellians, c) - Age 32 - 138 caps, 2 goals
A former BoldSport Galactico Team of the Year nominee, Gryphon is Brenecia's one genuinely world-class player. A gifted intellect who dictates the tempo, just by doing the simple things right. A set piece specialist, on top of that.

7 - RM - Brae Crowther (Image Chenoworth Harriers) - Age 23 - 24 caps, 7 goals
Crowther is lightning-quick and cocky to a fault, always trying to make the difference on her own, and needs to be knocked down a peg. Hopes are very high as she improves year by year.

8 - CM - Meghan Hartsdown (Image King's Park) - Age 25 - 29 caps, 5 goals
A tall, elegant playmaker-in-making, with a strong sense of team spirit and an optimistic nature lending itself to spraying Hollywood passes down the flanks. Fortunately, that instinct's been curtailed in recent seasons - now she makes the right pass more often than not.

10 - LM - Tiferet Ashbrown (Image Kings Park) - Age 25 - 15 caps, 4 goals
A quick-running, quick-thinking winger, whose reputation for flakiness and poor decision-making in the final third has evaporated after taking huge strides in the SPL. Now incisive rather than indecisive.

11 - AM - Sander Balliol (Image Tanrisal) - Age 30 - 76 caps, 20 goals
Full name: Alexsandr van Sorensen Balliol. He isn't, unsurprisingly, anywhere near as good, but he's thrived given space and trust as the side's playmaker. Boasts a fine shot, too.

13 - LM - Keohane (Image Ramusok United) - Age 28 - 38 caps, 8 goals
Essentially a Sunrise Islander, Keohane is an improvisational street footballer. She's small and can drift out of games, but on her day she offers something unlike any of her countrymen. Subject to hostility after a failed panenka in the World Cup.

15 - RM - Cu Roi Garrard (Image Snowden River) - Age 22 - 3 caps, 1 goal
A pure athlete, inclined to be direct in approach. A forceful winger who excels bearing down on fullbacks, far more sledgehammer than rapier.

16 - CM - Elsie Drover (Image OAS Royal FC) - Age 29 - 86 caps, 18 goals
Versatile and athletic, Drover always finds herself at the heart of things and always makes a difference. Her standards have slipped a little recently, though, for club and country - but she's still likely to rotate in and out of the starting XI.

21 - CM - Falcon Case (Image Goodfeather FC) - Age 23 - Uncapped
A classy technical midfielder, but Case can back it up with traditional Nepharim muscle, largely because he is Nepharim and only qualifies through ancestry. Tends to leave his mark on games, and boasts a thumping shot.

23 - DM - Catsidhe Alweather (Image Eastal Lunar) - Age 24 - 25 caps
Alweather is somewhat helter-skelter in style and is a very unclean tackler, and yet she's always there to make the tackle. Needs time to gain composure.

Forwards
9 - ST - Griffin Riordan (Image Klyde) - Age 24 - 16 caps, 6 goals
The raw, emerging talent in the ranks of Brenecia's forwards. Riordan is burning with ambition, loves scoring goals and doesn't care who she has to shove to the ground to get it in the net.

14 - ST - Niall Bremner (Image Westpike United) - Age 21 - Uncapped
A promising striker lacking any real subtlety. Tall, strong, fast and ruthless, preferring to lamp the ball powerfully into the net at any opportunity. This works out great at A-League level, but needs to add more strings to his bow.

17 - ST - Aelfwynn Bannion (Image Goldstaff City) - Age 28 - 26 caps, 8 goals
Not a naturally gifted player by any means, Bannion is a big, combative striker who gets her elbows in peoples' faces and really scraps with defenders.

ROSTER
Goalkeepers:
1 - Mathis Woodgate (Spartangrad, EUR), 12 - Rostyn Calhoun (Barbury Town, APX), 20 - Aidan Hartigan (Metropolis Alligators, VLD)
Defenders: 2 - Brun Carrack (Bengtsmark IF, BYN), 3 - Gethin Quill (Revolutionaries, EUR), 5 - Cheney Heneghan (Ernesse Stahl, BYN), 6 - Niko Szubanski (Rozelle), 18 - Garwyn Varney (Soldarian FC, VAL), 19 - Siri Cattalock (CA Paulinthal, PAS), 22 - Russ Linvoy (Kirk Preston United, SCT)
Midfielders: 4 - Catherine Gryphon (Cornellians, SCT, c), 7 - Brae Crowther (Chenoworth Harriers, NPH), 8 - Meghan Hartsdown (Kings Park, SCT), 10 - Tiferet Ashbrown (Kings Park, SCT), 11 - Sander Balliol (Tanrisal, PAS), 13 - Keohane (Ramusok United, COS), 15 - Cu Roi Garrard (Snowden River), 16 - Elsie Drover (OAS Royal FC, COS), 21 - Falcon Case (Goodfeather FC, NPH), 23 - Catsidhe Alweather (Eastal Lunar, VIL)
Forwards: 9 - Griffin Riordan (Klyde, COS), 14 - Niall Bremner (Westpike United), 17 - Aelfwynn Bannion (Goldstaff City, COS)
Puppet of Nephara.

Association Football, Boxing, and Archery are the three national sports of Coldfield. Practiced since 1890 yet the first national football tournament was held in 1950 - the Commonwealth Cup. In early years football teams were amateur and they took part in regional championships: North, Central Mountains, South, and West. Nowadays Coldfieldian clubs play in a yearly domestic cup, three national leagues, and six regional conferences. The Coldfieldian National Football Team (the CONFUT) was established in late 2016 and took part in Baptism of Fire 64, being eliminated by Amnarei-asud in the penalties after a dramatic match of the quarter-finals. Coldfield also participated in the WC 77 and Campionato Esportiva 19; in the former CONFUT was eliminated in the qualification stage after a terrible campaign; in the latter, Coldfield won just one match and didn't make into the round of sixteen. In the World Cup 78 qualifiers Coldfield had a real chance of qualifying, however, the 1-2 loss for Tinhampton at the Crownsville Palace Colossus destroyed any chances the team had, finishing fourth in Group Three with eight wins, four draws, and four losses. CONFUT also took part in Cup of Harmony 70 and DuPont Charity Cup, being eliminated in the group stage and second round respectively. Coldfield performed a fairly good campaign in Campionato Esportiva 20, being eliminated by hosts Mattijana in the quarter-finals.

Construction Completed on Revolution Stadium

Image

Construction has been completed on the 42,000 seat Revolution Stadium, the new home of the South Covello national soccer team, to be located in the city of Riverview, about 100 miles east of the Capital Freedom City. The stadium will be located on the banks of the Goldenrod River, and fans will be able to arrive at the stadium by boat should they wish. As the river is navigable in the portions that run through San Jose Guayabal as well, this opens up the possibility that some visitng fans from that nation could visit if the two nations face each other. However, as San Jose Guayabal appears to have withdrawn from international competition for the time being, that seems unlikely for now.

As mentioned above, the stadium is far more intimate than the old one, seating a relatively small 42,000 fans, with ample space for supporters as well as a small number of visiting fans. The views from the stadium are immaculate, looking out over the Goldenrod Valley with the river in view as well. For games played in the fall, it will just be an amazing sight to behold, even ignoring what is going on with the game.

However, South Covello hopes the new stadium gives it a huge home field advantage after playing the entire World Cup 79 cycle on the road or at neutral fields. Although the World Cup 80 schedule will not be known for quite some time, the Rebels hope to stage a "soft" opening with a friendly sometime between the Campeonato Esportiva and the start of World Cup qualifying. An opponent for that match has not yet been announced, but South Covello Soccer Federation authorities are reportedly looking to find an opponent, and "want it to be someone meaningful." Perhaps a nation which the former Gregoryisgodistan had previously wronged for no good reason, and which South Covello now wants to make peace with. San Jose Guayabal would make the perfect opponent but for the fact that they have withdrawn from competition, so South Covello will now have to look elsewhere unless the Guayabalense are to make a surprise return.

One thing is for sure - when it is time for this stadium to open, the mood will be electrifying, as it will be the team's first time playing on home soil since the Glorious Revolution that saw the wicked Gregists overthrown and the institution of a new, free democracy here in South Covello. That cannot be undersold, and it is sure to be a very emotional time as well.

For now though, the Rebels are focusing on the upcoming Campeonato Esportiva. Although historically, the previous Gregoryisgodistan treated the Campeonato as a lesser tournament than the World Cup, and didn't put much focus on it, this is the first tournament together for this young group of players after the older generation handed it off to them.

Captain and star goalkeeper Matthew Tyler was excited to make his competitive debut, saying "We've trained together for so long for this day, now we want to go out there and hoist the regional trophy. We're doing this for all the fans back home."

South Covello has the dreaded Matchday 1 bye, and goes right into the fire from there, facing Pot 2 seed Ethane on Matchday 2. From there, it gets easier, but it will be critical to get off to a good start. The Top 4 teams in each group go through to the knockout stage, and South Covello is widely expected to be one of them. But seeding matters, and South Covello will be looking to top the Group for an easier run to win the Campeonato.

All in all, it is sure to be a fun tournament, and for once this nation will be tuning in to it and not treating it like a secondary tournament. all eyes will be on the Fhulghamous Peninsula and Copper Cuprum for the next few weeks, as the Rebels look to become champions of Esportiva.

Legend had it that a team of plucky Sunrisians conquered the world twice, impressing bystanders and shutting down nay-sayers. This isn't a tale of equal standing, but rather, the story of how the distant grandchildren of those men and women came in town, decked in the closest to a set of royal colours possible with the wish to do them better.

Tentai National Stadium
Capacity: 67,150 - Tentai City, Tentai - Tenants: Tentai Astros

Recently built under rule by the Hinodejin Imperial Court, this state of the art venue was built to host games of upcoming team Tentai Astros, but more important than that, to host the national team's games at the new capital of the Empire. It's also supposed to represent part of the renovation process spearheaded by the current queen towards this city, once a capital of one of the fiercest enemies of the empire, now acting as one of the jewels of her crown.

RP PERMISSIONS
As you might've noticed, one of these players isn't human. Just wanted to point out she's still fairly close to being human, just in case. Please don't kill them. Injuries for large stretches of time have to be informed by telegram, or else they'll get the ignore cannon treatment. Anything else (bar anything that destroys any city of the empire or its' people, just in case anyone gets a bit too creative) is fine by me.

Manager: Luxulya St. Cleer, Aged: 39
Assistant Manager: Sverre Devold (BYN), Aged: 41
Style: -0.5

Spiel: Luxulya St. Cleer brings a similar squad to the Campionato as the one who contested the Cup of Harmony, with a couple of changes - those being the incoming arrivals of youngsters Isidora Bloodsworth and Marcy Blake-Tatum, a chance to give some more players some competitive football experience. There is still the strong spine running through this team though, with players such as Imhotep Jekyll, James Palmisano, Imriel Townsend and Alpha Gandhi all still in the squad.

Matienzo Residence
Bandariyan, Filindostan

It was two months after the mistimed slide tackle gave Enzo his marching orders, which all but ended Pula Garudas' Cup of Harmony campaign against Equestrian States. He could barely talk about it in the post-match team conversations in Qasden. Aware that he will miss the Filindos' first match of the Campionato season, he started thinking about his possible replacements in the national team. He's turning 33 next year, and with the demands of playing the right back position slowly taking its toll to his ageing body, and with other pressing matter he needed to attend to. He decided to get his laptop, open his social media account, and decided to post:

Enzo Matienzo #21 @enzofidrb21
I have decided to call it quits to @PulaGaruda Team. I've been thinking to do this during the Cup of Harmony. To the one @leomarie_ipac who will be the future rightback along with @rmsgrctssn, good luck at the Campionato

His post sent shockwaves around the Filindostani social media. Others tend to accept his post, while others, who are still blaming him for the loss at the Round of 16, rejoiced and trolled him further via replies to the post. Others just wanted to spread the Titusgel virus so they posted troll links and fake news posts just to ride along the social media activity.

Willy already knew long before Enzo declared his tweet, and said in the subsequent press conference that Leomarie will be joining the team's training sessions for the upcoming Campionato Esportiva tournament. At last, Enzo can focus on his younger brother, Manolo Marvin, better known as Nolo, while the president's anti-drug campaign reaches its activity to a scary new level.

It was hard to explain to the media.

Sacheverell van Cann admitted it, the regional tournament was more of a chance for some players to obtain a piece of silverware that the Empire didn't have (even as the Sunrise Islands, notorious runners-up of the event). Several names floated on the table, such as Hylian Ninfu's Chloe Nagatomo and some of Pascal Mashu's notable youth, were brought up but he simply replied with "shots will be given at the World Cup Qualifiers. It was hard for the Hinodejin, but they had a tough task in front of them. Taking the regional tournament.

Still, there were some bright spots. Sending the same team from the World Cup meant they could work on what they accomplished last qualifiers and maybe go on to top the competition. Additionally, said team meant several players such as Sang Kyung-Ja, Cherry Whitecastle, Iori Saitou and Nuan Mee-Song had the opportunity to show how good they really were, carrying a team with several experienced yet lacking players.

Additionally, they had been training hard towards bringing the Sunrisian style of football from the past, including... some questionable kits. Especially the Third one, a nod to the old Sunrisian tradition of Carnaval. Although some thought the declarations of being "The Best Empire Ever" was a bit pompous and the design itself was fairly over-the-top, it did show signs that the Hinodejin were willing to learn from their ancestors.

Whether or not those ghosts would be able to accomplish what they didn't, on the other hand...

Postby Copper Cuprum » Mon Feb 19, 2018 1:11 am

The news came out of the Royal Palace at five in the morning. The Chief is dead, long live the Chief. Chief Gon, officially the third longest reigning Chief of Copper Cuprum at 24 years on the throne, has passed away. Chief Gon had passed away in his sleep at exactly three in the morning, but the Royal Palace only confirmed his passing two hours later, after the ritual calling of the dead person's soul to determine if he had truly moved on to the ancestral plane or if he was still lingering in the physical world.

As Crown Prince, Prince Deg of the Copperite national football team would ascend to the throne, but only after the proper rituals had been completed, both for his father and for himself. First the late Chief Gon's body had to be purified in preparation for his reunion with his ancestors, and then it would be the Crown Prince's turn to receive ritual cleansing to make him ready to take upon him the mantle of the leadership of the nation of Copper Cuprum.

One thing of note to remember is that the Chief of Copper Cuprum remains Chief even after his death until both his body and soul are reunited on the spiritual plane through the rituals of the shamans. The royal shaman, Uncle Doc, would take the lead for the reunion ritual, but all other shamans in the Chiefdom are expected to take part in the ritual as well, adding their own chants and prayers to help the Chief's soul find its way back to his ancestors.

The first step to this ritual of the soul's reunion with the ancestors was the preparation of the chief's body. Unlike most of the other countries in which the heads of state and/or government lie in state upon their deaths in office, in Copper Cuprum no one except the immediate family of the deceased and the family's shaman can gaze upon the body. This is in order to not trouble the soul of the deceased with the presence of unfamiliar people. The family shaman would then bathe and cleanse the body with herbs, oils, and liquids from plants native to Copper Cuprum. The exact formula used is a closely guarded secret, with only shamans passing on the knowledge to other shamans, but it is known that at least oil of orchids and coconut water play a role in the ritual cleansing.

There are also differing accounts on whether the shamans extract the deceased's organs from the body during the ritual cleansing and bathing. Some argue that the shamans must be removing the organs because a number of Copperite mummies show signs of incisions being made on their bodies post-mortem, lending credence to the theory, but others argue that ritual removal of organs doesn't always happen because other Copperite mummies have been discovered with their internal organs intact and in place, but no matter what actually happens with the deceased's organs, it is known that the shaman wraps the body in a bag of banana leaves after the ritual cleansing and bath and left in that state for three days.

It could be said that Chief Gon chose a poor time to die. Copper Cuprum had just won joint hosting rights alongside the Fleftic colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula to host the 21st edition of the Campionato Esportiva, and the people were in a naturally celebratory mood during the days between the announcement of the victory of the Copperite-Fhulghamousian bid to host the 21st Campionato and the announcement of the death of Chief Gon. With the death of Chief Gon coming right on the eve of the opening of the Campionato, the mood in the country turned from happiness to sorrow in just a snap. Chief Gon is generally considered as one of the better rulers that the Chiefdom had had, and his work in securing Copper Cuprum's place in the Esportivan and multiverse landscape was undeniable. And now Prince Deg was expected to pick up where his father started and continue the advancement and progress of Copper Cuprum on the world stage.

In honor of the memory of Chief Gon, all Copperite flags would be flown at half-mast for the duration of the transition of power to Crown Prince Deg. The Fhulghamous Peninsula also voluntarily ordered the lowering of their flags at half-mast at least for the opening of the Campionato Esportiva. A minute of silence would also be observed for the Chief for the duration of the tournament. The Copperite national team will also wear black armbands and the ritual pregame sacrifice of chickens would be put on hold as the royal shaman would be busy tending to the Chief's body.

It was not the most auspicious of starts for Copper Cuprum's first international hosting experience. But surely things could only go up from here. Surely.

Mattijanan Roster and Information for Campionato Esportiva 21

The Story So Far
The big news for Mattijana from the last World Cup cycle is that the team have parted company with coach Matej Ljubanik after a hugely disappointing run of World Cup results. Despite that, the former FK Petrovijanka boss went out on a high, securing third place in the 20th Campionato Esportiva on home soil.
New man Dusan Vukoja was subsequently appointed. The former Burges and Puljanka manager, favoured to Revinka’s Max Juremchuk and Dinamo Petrovijanka’s Ameli Kurnic. Despite the backroom staff remaining largely unchanged, Vukoja has overseen an overhaul of the playing squad with many older players replaced by promoted U23 prospects.
Vukoja will have a series of friendlies to get to grips with his squad before being thrown into his first competitive fixtures in Mattijana’s world cup qualifiers.

Team Info

World Rank: 92
Style Modifier= +3
National Association: MattijanaFusbalBand (MFB)
Kits: Image
Formation:

Head Coach: Dusan Vukoja
Appointed manager around a month before his first game in charge, Vukoja left Division 1 side FK Puljanka for the National team job, having recorded the club’s best finish in 10 years with 5th, behind only Burges, the two Petrovijanka clubs and FK Revinka. The south-Mattijanan had previously spent time at FK Burges both as assistant and full-time manager after a spell at lower-table side Jamas, where he succeeded in rescuing the team from almost imminent relegation. Now aged 40, Vukoja did not enjoy a lengthy playing career due to injury, but says that coaching is his real passion.
With Ljubanik’s style of play turning increasingly turgid and results also suffering, the Mattijanan FA and fans decided to seek a more exciting brand of football that had been on show at Puljanka in their 5th-place success last season. However the pressure will be on the new man to ensure both more exciting football and more exciting results.

Assistant Manager: Dominik Samikov (FK Burges)

The assistant manager at Championship leaders FK Burges hails from the North-East of Mattijana and began his career at Dinamo Legisaw, another division 2 side before then moving as one of the tactical staff to FK Burges, where he has since worked his way up the pecking order to assistant manager. He has an excellent tactical mind as well as good player welfare skills and helps out Ljubanik in both management areas. He has so far proved himself to be a capable aid.

Head Scout: Marcel Kuzbacher

Marcel Kuzbacher is a seasoned scout, mainly plying his trade for the famed Puljanka Academy. He has links with numerous players in the Mattijanan squad as well as the under-21 side and makes up the 3-man selection panel alongside Samikov and Ljubanik.

Fitness Coordinator: Jelena Neumanič

Jelena Neumanič is responsible for the diet and fitness of the squad, freeing up the main management team to think about tactical matters. She has a solid variety of exercises and is well-known for getting on player's backs if they don't keep up with their expected effort levels.

Psychologist: Samira Kazmir

Samira Kazmir is an experienced sports psychologist who has done work for both the summer and winter Olympic teams, the Mattijanan ITT side and the MRT motor racing team. She is responsible for the mental welfare of players, stretching from the collective mind-set to more personal issues for each individual in the squad and may have a tough task on her hands if this tournament turns out like the last.

The Medical Team:

Head Doctor: Dr Charlotte Smitič
Assistant Doctor: Dr Mattias Buranov
Physio: Martina Laramazič
Physio: Mika Glasnić

The Players:
GK-Lucija Handanovic-#12-Age 25-FK Revinka
Understudy to Matej Handanovic for most of Ljubanik’s tenure, Lucija is favourite to start between the sticks for Mattijana in the upcoming qualifiers. The 25 year old has impressed for club side Revinka in the recent season with both solid performances and heroic clean-sheets and will be tricky to keep out of a starting place.

LB-Helena Neumann-#2

The Burges Player is a regular in the championship leading side and will provide a good defensive option with the occasional run forward to help out the wingers. Barring any injuries or unlikely suspensions, she will play all of Mattijana's matches,

CB-Edvard Crajasović-#3

The towering centre back is a regular for a Revinka side currently sitting fourth in the division 1 table. His height gives him a significant advantage when defending high balls and presents a threat at set-pieces. However, he can be clumsy when faced with skilful runners and does rely on a more quick-footed defensive partner in order to be successful.

CB-Katija Burnisevič-#4

Another Burges Player, Burnisevič is a potential answer to Crajasović's clumsiness and is a quick, skilful and sure-footed player capable of taking the fight to those attempting to run through. She is a dedicated player, happy to chase any lost cause until the ball crosses the line. Her lack of physical strength may be her weakness however and she could be a potential target for more powerful strikers.

RB-Dominik Illisević-#5

Now a regular for FK Puljanka, Illisević is a punchy and pacey player with outstanding fitness and good crossing ability. His defensive technique is the biggest question mark, but if he can have a solid match at the back, he will undoubtedly be a danger coming forward.

LM-Sofiane Bisrali-#6
From the less familiar setting of Shalkar in the South-East, Bisrali has the pace and skill that Vukoja is looking for in his wingers. Replacing the mercurial Sophia Velezia in the starting line-up, the 21 year old has a lot to live up to early in his career, but has the chance to do it on the biggest stage.

CM-Marko Hojbjerg-#7

Another young midfielder at just 24, Hojbjerg is a playmaker with good awareness and passing ability and is the perfect fit for Ljubanik's technical brand of football. Useful for connecting the more attacking players ahead of him, he is also integral in providing the start or the killer pass in a counter-attack. When no forward options are available, he's not afraid to hit one and occasionally finds the back of the net from improbable ranges.

CM-Katarina Jakupovic-#15
Captain of Mattijana’s under-23 side, Jakupovic is a part of Vukoja’s turn to a more attractive style with Jago Adrianov, the midfield enforcer out and the instinctive passer promoted to a starting role. The 22 year-old Snezn player has impressed with both her technique and maturity in the early years of her career and is touted as a future Mattijanan captain after a successful run in the Under-23s.

RM-Jessika Struna-#9

A pacey winger who's preferred play is to make a run and then a cross, the 25 year old Struna is a dynamic and different part of the Mattijanan team. Tipped for a move to Petrovijanka or Burges, Struna chose to stay at Revinka, close to her family and in the town she loves.

FW-Mathilde Lekarisa-#10

Rapid Petrovijanka's 27 year old forward is a lethal finisher with a left foot that makes up for a lack of power with high precision. She enjoys running onto through balls and cutting inside to curl shots into the far corners of the goal. She is expected to play well having scored 5 goals in her last 4 games for Rapid.

FW-Andreas Weiss-#11

The 29 year old Burges Striker has been a fixture in the Mattijanan team for a while now and has matched his performances for the national side with consistent scoring form for FK Burges. He is a poacher with the ability to be in the right place at the right time for any pull-back into the box. Also a good header of the ball, Weiss will be an intimidating target for high crosses if the Mattijanan plan-B is needed.

The Bench:
GK-Matej Handanović-#1
The 28 year old Mattijanan number 1 plays under Matej Ljubanik at FK Petrovijanka and has been a solid, if unspectacular option between the sticks for most of his career. He has good handling skills and makes few mistakes, but could be replaced if he fails to make the spectacular stops expected of him. He may also face renewed competition from the younger and more dynamic Martin Vaskaric.
RB-Kevin Krychowiak-#13-Age 21-Matbirjke
CB- Rikard Illicić-#14- age 21, FK Antalja
CM-Jago Adrianov-#8
Adrianov is the typical midfield enforcer with a hard tackle and a driving run on him which can terrorise both attackers and other midfielders. He's also not afraid to hit one from range with varying success. He is probably the most likely player to pick up cards however, so could be a potential liability.

LM-Sophia Velezia-#16
A mazy winger with less raw pace, but the ability to turn any defender into a messy knot, Velezia is a constant challenge to keep quiet on her day and normally gets through at some point if she hits top form. Her mercurial nature is her biggest and arguably only weakness, but Mattijana will be well-placed if she can get it together.

CAM-Mattias Hoffman-#22-Age 23-Rapid Petrovijanka
ST-Daniella Alaba-#18-Age 25-Puljanka

The Reserves:

GK-Martin Vaskaric-#19-Age 21-FK Antalja
LB-Lara Ljunavic-#20-Age 27-FK Revinka
FW- Kara Lorenzič, age 21, Matbirjke
CAM-Juliana Kjofmann-#23-Age 24-Weststrand FK

About Mattijana!

Mattijana is a huge safe nation with a significant, but proportionate population. It spans a fairly large range of climates with the far north a colder area, the central region temperate, the south Mediteranean and the South-East semi-desert. Petrovijanka, the setting for this competition, is located almost exactly in the centre of the country at 214-232 metres above sea level. It has summer highs of around 28°C and lows of -5°C in the winter. There is a high level of sunshine for most of the year with precipitation mostly snowfall in the winter months.

Culturally, Mattijana can also be divided into six regions. The West of the country is largely Germanic whilst the centre North is a mix of Slavic and Germanic cultures, centred around Mattijana's second city, Burges. The North and East are mainly Eastern European (closest to Polish irl) whilst the Centre (where Petrovijanka is situated) and the South are Slavic (similar to the Slovenian and Croatian cultures). There is an Arabic community in the South-East.
All Mattijanans speak the official language, Mattijanan. However, due to this not being spoken anywhere else in the World, English and German are well-spoken throughout the country whilst Arabic is taken on by the most intelligent students (in addition to English and German) as well as by those in the South-East.
There is no official religion in Mattijana due to this mix of cultures. Islam is popular in the South-East and parts of the South whilst some in the East follow the Mattijanan Orthodox church. Most people hold no religious belief, but believe in the universal philosophy of being kind, welcoming and helpful to others. Even in religious communities, it is these principals that are most talked of with religious figures used to preach them.
Due to the mix/match nature of Mattijanan cultures, religions are also a little mixed up. This is the reason that most muslim women do not wear headscarves.

Attitudes to drink and sex are fairly liberal whilst there is good gender, sexual and racial equality. Social mobility is also good and the rich earn only twice as much as the poorest.

The government follows mildly socialist policies meaning the tax rate is fairly high, but schools, hospitals and other public services are all well-funded and reasonably-priced. Taxes on large businesses are higher than on small ones. The government building is the MattiStaja, which is situated on Staja square in the centre of Petrovijanka. All six regions have their own smaller congresses however. Politicians are generally appreciated and although public decisions are limited to elections and important political decisions where the main population is the most affected, most citizens feel well represented due to the numerous meeting and discussion opportunities with their local politician.
All parties follow a similar philosophy, but mainly disagree on where to fund the most. The MattijanaLeušaBuro is the current elected party, but other popular parties are the ViroBuro (who generally promote the needs of the environment) and the NašinalBuro (who promote funding for employment opportunities). Despite this attitude, unemployment benefits are actually quite low in order to encourage people to be hard-working.

National Stadiums

Due to a large land mass and numerous good quality stadia, the Mattijanan FA prefers to rotate games around a few different grounds. Having said that, the Stadijo Nasinal and the Stadijo Dinamov play host to the bulk of the matches due to the central position of Burges and Petrovijanka, and their reputation for providing excellent hosting services.

Stadijo Dinamov
Image
The Stadijo Dinamov in Petrovijanka is the second biggest football stadium in Mattijana and is one of the five stadiums that share the hosting honours for international matches. It is used on a weekly basis by FK Petrovijanka, Matej Ljubanik's old club, having built by them in 1940 and upgraded twice in 1972 and 2001. The capacity is 60,000.
The stadium is found to the north of the city's old town.

Stadijo Nasinal-Burges
Image
The Stadijo Nasinal is Mattijana's largest multi-purpose sports stadium with retractable grass and astroturf surfaces to cater for cater for Cricket, Hockey, Rugby and Football matches. There is a capacity of 90,000. The Stadium was built in 1985 and heavily upgraded just 2 years ago in preparation for the Cricket T20 World Cup. It is situated on the South bank of the Juliana river, just next to the water and just East of the NordesParke.

Stadijo Snezn:
Image
City: Snezn
Capacity: 37,000
Club residents: FK Snezn
Location: Western Snezn, not far from the old town.
Transport: 10-15 minutes walk from central Snezn, 10 minutes cycle. S3 tram or B3 Bus routes.

The Stadijo Snezn is situated in Mattijana's most northernmost city and is a more modern ground, with a generic rectangular shape and fairly modest capacity. This feature however makes it very accessible and easy to use, so a match here should be a reasonably comfortable experience. The stadium was built around 15 years ago, by owners FK Snezn.

Stadijo Katarina Zafarova:
Image
City: Revinka
Capacity: 30,000
Club residents: FK Revinka
Location: Coast, Eastern Revinka
Transport: S2 Tram route, 20 minute walk/10 minute cycle from city centre.

Another modern multi-purpose stadium, Revinka's regular evening thunderstorms mean that a roof has recently been added to the stadium to make for all-weather events. The stadium is already used for Hockey, rugby, football and handball and is named after Revinka and Mattijanan national Hockey captain Katarina Zafarova.

Garijo Ales Struna:
Image
City: Puljanka
Capacity: 40,000
Club residents: FK Puljanka
Location: Garijo Struna, north-west Puljanka
Transport: 10 minute walk/5 minute cycle from City centre. S11 Tram route.

An older, but very traditional stadium in a park just north-east of Puljanka's centre, the ground has progressed from humble beginnings as a playing field to one of the most recognisable stadiums in the country.
The ground has been upgraded in accordance with Mattijanan FA rules, but still retains much of its old history and is a beautiful place to watch a game. The most distinctive features are the arches spanning the length of the North and South stands.

WesterStadion:
Image
City: WestStrand
Capacity: 70,000
Club Residents: Weststrand FK
Location: Northern Weststrand
Transport: 10 minutes on foot from Weststrand city centre and main train station. B1 bus route from city centre.

One of the newest stadiums in Mattijana, the Westerstadion was built to reflect its resident's consolidation of a place in the Mattijanan premier league, which gave the club enough funds to move out of a small and battered old ground into a shining new 70,000 capacity creation on part of a former park in the north of Weststrand.
The ground is used almost exclusively for football, although there is talk of rugby also being allowed to take place at the ground. The stadium's modernity means it is accessible and comfortable.

Around Weststrand:
The most Germanic of Mattijana's cities, Weststrand is situated on the west coast of the country and is part of a more rugged section of coastline extending for hundreds of kilometres. As a result, the weather is generally windier than in most locations, with rain coming off the sea regularly.
The town itself has a more colonial feel to it, with imposing buildings on the seafront giving way to narrow, but buzzing backstreets containing a number of quirky independent shops. Watersports are also popular in the area. Cuisine is largely seafood-based, with mussels a very popular choice in the region.

Long Distance Travel:

International airports are found in Burges, Revinka and Petrovijanka, with some Esportivan flights also heading to Snezn. Shuttle underground trains from airports to corresponding city centres will be subsidised for the duration of the tournament. High speed rail links extend between all cities and airports, making travel to Puljanka and Snezn also relatively painless. There are express services between Petrovijanka and Burges, Burges and Snezn, and Revinka and Puljanka.
Those from reasonably local countries looking to travel to Revinka or Snezn may wish to consider travel by sea. Both cities have good ferry ports and road and underground links to the city centres they serve.

Three Imperial states to ban pineapple on pizza

Today is a sad day for pizza lovers in the states of Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland. The former Danish colonies annexed after World War Two voted a ban on pineapple pizza; in the Faroe Island, the ruling party secured a tight 11-9 victory. In Greenland, the State Congress result was 15 ayes and 5 noes. The Icelandic council had the biggest majority vote as all 24 councilors voted for the ban. As expected, the three governors approved the bill. Two hours after the ban came into force, Emperor Augusto Lima II himself published in his social network FotoAlbum account a note expressing his dissatisfaction with the leaders of the three Nordic states. 'The governors are a bunch of useless jerks' and 'all they do is to request extra funding every single month'. It is estimated that such declarations may strengthen the already strong separatist movements in the region.

Serial Killer killed by a lipstick

The 'butcher of Campo Grande', serial killer Carlos Passos Ramos - armed with a meat cleaver - was murdered by an unidentified young woman who acted in self-defense last midnight. The woman used a sharp-edged red lipstick as a weapon, repeatedly stabbing the killer several times in the chest and neck before fleeing from the scene. The entire act was caught by a hidden security camera installed by a local taxi company. The mysterious woman would be Carlos' twelfth victim.

The Near-Tragedy of Ons Gon

The Empire tied the first CE XXI match with long-standing rival Coldfield this afternoon. Molney Santos scored twice, but it wasn't enough to stop the grizzled Coldfieldian captain Robert Simmons and his all-header hat-trick. At the 88th-minute Brazilian goalkeeper Roberto Carvalho scored a free kick 35 meters away from the goal, preventing a humiliating defeat. In the post-match press conference, national team manager and former Earth Cup winner Peté announced his retirement from football. 'I will not abandon my team before its last match in the Campionato' the manager said.
