You know, back when I first entered College, I had the desire to be an economist. I was set to spend the summer of 2017 at the London School of Economics but pulled out a month earlier. I knew a friend that went there and said it was brilliant.

I have this sneaky suspicion that almost all half-decent universities are basically as good as each other. It is what you make of it: if you go out and meet the right people you can have a great time partying, travelling the world with them and having the time of your life. And if you go out and meet different people, maybe you'll end up having deep and meaningful debates and conversations, learn amazing stuff and read half a library of deep insights that make you a better person and great thinker.

Or you do neither and maybe you just end up going to grad careers events all the time and end up working in finance. I suspect it's for that latter bit that the name of the school is relevant. The rest, not so much.

That said, I was only there for a year of grad school, so I'm hardly an expert. For what it's worth, I had some good teachers there. Can't knock them.

There is a saying among the people I met at Cooley's Law School.

I've heard similar expressions. Still something I'm eager to do.

Props to you. If it's anything like my graduate program (I had to grade 220 Undergrad papers in one Week while working as a Highschool teacher) then I don't envy the more work that I'm told ya'll have to do.

Thankfully, it's lots of memorization, reading, writing, etc. All things I'm pretty decent at. Now, if it involved, say, calculus, I wouldn't even consider it.

Fascinating. I never personally went beyond Philosophy 101 in my Undergrad but I would be incredibly interested in sitting down to a conversation with you. What specific area are you working your dissertation in? I still have no idea if I'm even going to pursue one myself.

I've gone back and grabbed a GED. And I have some technical certifications. But yeah, formal schooling for me ended before I finished high school.

I'd eventually like to hit a University and go further, but that isn't in the cards right now, if ever.

A GED is definitely solid. I imagine you're too busy with work and whatnot to go further? I hear that a ton from people, and it's extremely valid, because going back for classes conceivably can take a ton of time.

Nietzsche. I am going to Germany later this year, to look at some of his original manuscripts and notebooks etc, so quite excited for that! Aside from Nietzsche, I also have a keen interest in the likes of Baudrillard, Bergson, Deleuze, Foucault, Heidegger, Marx, etc. I would love to do a comparative of Marx and Nietzsche at some point, as that is an angle that hasn't really been touched by most Nietzsche scholars, even though my studies of Nietzsche over the past ten years have revealed that there is ample material for such a project.
