Favorite/Best Socialist/Communist Idol And Why

Postby The Democratic Marxists » Tue Jan 16, 2018 4:44 pm

In my opinion, Rosa Luxemburg and Che Guavera were true socialist revolutionaries.

This is mainly because their ideologies were based in compassion and brotherhood, which is what socialism is all about. That’s what Marx wanted it to be, that’s what Engels wanted it to be.

I think another thing that’s sets these two apart is that they didn’t hold positions of power. Usually, it’s the absolute power in communist systems that corrupts the otherwise idealistic and thoughtful individual. Che briefly served in Castro's cabinet, but Che was more interested in the Revolution than politics. Rosa wrote books and deepened our understanding of the concept. I also think that these two understood the plight of the Proleteriat the best. They saw poverty and the toiling working class' plight up front!

And neither of them committed the mass genocide of Stalin, or the starvation caused by Mao, or the increased surveillance of Lenin.

They were less concerned with maintaining power, and more concerned with the actual issues of the working class.

Who do you think is the best Socialist?

Either Buenaventura Durruti or Nestor Makhno

Lmao the "republic" is imperialistic and the heart of galactic Capitalism; moreover the "rebels" were typical bourgeois Liberals. Palpatine is an anti revisionist Marxist-Leninist.

Joseph McCarthy.

I'm not sure about the Empire, but the republic was clearly some sort of oligarchy and the rebels (and the jedi) are clearly religious extremists hell-bent on destroying the secular state.

Marshal Tito represented the true patriotism and thoughtfulness that should come along with socialism. Also, he didn’t continuously suck the USSR's ass like other socialist nations *cough* Cuba *cough* Vietnam. He formed his own ideology in the Non-Aligned Movement and, as we all can see, had leadership skills that led to a more comfortable life for the poor and oppressed, as we can still see today in the Yugoslavian region.

I know who the ass was. It simply seems that most, particularly he himself, would be confused by labeling him a socialist idol.

I just feel that Brezhnev didn’t do much to advance the communist cause. He just started wars over Territories and fought trivial battles with Poland, and generally thought an aggressive foreign policy would make him important.

I don’t respect needless war mongering

I hate Leftism as a rule, But I can agree with some of the ideas of Gentile. He was killed by anti-fascist terrorists while going home from arguing for the release of anti-fascist politicians and philosophers. Even though I despise most of his ideas, especially those he borrows from Hegel and Marx, but he had principles unlike most of them.
