Calcutta Imperial Palace

It seems that the tensions of the era suffocated every politician who dared grab a hold of power. Some politicians were aware of the presence of said tensions, and actively promised to the people that the gloomy air which hung over their lands would soon pass as long as they promise to to vote for them. Other politicians were more cunning. They actively put kerosene into this flame, letting the smoke rise up and for more people to suffocate. They too promised change, as long as they were to stay in power. It seemed that the Burmese were neither of the two. They, taking advantage of their good relations with Boli, decided it be necessary to fucking kill the crown prince of motherfucking China. Now, Burma was a loved ally for many years, it's strategic position and resources benefited Bharatiya greatly. However, it seemed that this love was made to be tested.

The Great Maharaja Boli woke up from his slumber and let out a great stretch and a yawn, blissfully unaware of the murder which would later change history (and his lifespan) forever. Though his ignorance on the subject was quickly changed when a timid advisor informed him of the recent events which had occurred. The Maharaja stomped his feet and bellowed a noise which resembled anger, and had asked of what the Chinese response was. China, the roadblock of Bharatiya's expansion into Southeast Asia. What did they say?
They said war.

The king sighed. War? He knew it was inevitable but did it have to be today? He immediately got dressed and marched towards the Royal Hall, where a Burmese ambassador, generals, and state approved foreign and local media journalists stood.
"Your Highness, the Chinese have declared that they would punish my people for this transgression! What are we to do? Do you remember the promise your fathers and fathers of fathers made to our people? Are you not the defenders of our people or are we to fall victim to their hordes?" the timid ambassador asked.
"The Chinese want war, and war they shall get!" the great king said.

DECLARATION OF PROTECTION FOR THE KINGDOM OF BURMA

Bharatiya hereby declares that any foreign aggression towards the Burmese people will be met with the full force of the Bharati Armed Forces. Bharatiya invokes previous treaties signed with Burma and has ordered all troops to stand ready. One division is to be stationed in the city of Mandalay. Travel to and from China is hereby restricted except for those with special purposes as defined by the unspoken but understood rules of conflict.

The 20th century arrived and with it, the foundations of the 2nd Karthspiri Empire had been well and truly shaken. The glory days of this old and battered nation were far behind it and new ideas of Cultural Nationalism had begun to cause great unrest within the Empire. Many commentators within and without were predicting its end. After all, only 40% of its population could speak any Karthspiri language and those who couldn't were generally vying to break away. The Empire needed stability; a uniting force. The Empire had been founded through bloody conflict so, naturally, its leadership assumed it would be bloody conflict that would carry the day and allow the Empire to survive another day; uniting its people in the face of a common enemy.

The Empire was ruled by the young and vigorous Emperor Atheil VII Maravirr. A great, battle-hardened, house had been reduced to a handful of members. The Great Karthspiri political game had taken its toll on the political power it held and over the past 50 years reform after reform had slowly chipped away at the power of the Monarchy with more and more power being delegated to the provinces. The Emperor could not stand this. However, there was a kill switch on the reforms. The Royal Family were not unwise enough to allow their power to be completely chipped away. In times of war, the Monarch, with the support of the Imperial Military, could take full control of the country. In the mind of this new Emperor, no-one could take the control back from him if he had a gun to their head.

The Imperial Court, Kal'Dovaat, Allyria, The Karthspiri Empire
The Emperor sat aloof on the Charred Throne. He had long grown tired of the Karthspiri Great Game but he knew for politics' sake that he had to keep up appearances else the court would have him out of the throne faster than anything comprehensible. The throne room, as elegant as it was, was packed full of deceit. All around nobles could be seen plotting against their compatriots as others competed for the attention of the Emperor. This atmosphere of what was seemingly lawlessness at the top of the societal pyramid was interrupted; rudely. A loud knock was heard emanating from the elegant, wooden doors which were the gateway to his Majesty. It echoed throughout the room; utter silence.

The doors swung open and in marched 15 or so soldiers of the Royal Guard. With them was General Erlan Trisleth. Born of a long line of nobles their family had essentially run Karthspire's Cavalry for the past 50 years and served in it as Officers for many more. A fine family to say the least. The soldiers stood to attention, saluting their Emperor and blocking all others but themselves and the General out of his view.

"What is the meaning of this interruption," bellowed the Emperor, his words echoing throughout the great Chamber.
The General cleared his throat before reading aloud from what seemed to be a Military Report, "Dire news your most Divine Majesty! The great nations of the world appear to be mobilising against one another."
"Leave us!" demanded the Emperor.
The Court filed out of the great chamber, closing the gargantuan doors and sealing in the Soldiers, their General and the Emperor.
The Emperor let out a hearty laugh, "Trisleth, this is just what our nation needs. Now, tell me, which side appears to be the one who isn't going to have the absolute crap kicked out of them?"
The General seemed uncomfortable with this, "My Liege, both sides seem evenly matched as of now. However, I would urge restraint. A war could destroy this nation and I would like to remind you of the pure horror of war."
The face of the Emperor hardened, "For now, I suppose we shall have to wait and see who attempts to persuade us to shed blood with them. In the future, I expect you not to talk down our great nation in such a manner ever again."
The General nodded, "Yes sire." He re-opened the doors to the great hall and ushered the court back in, remaining by the Emperor's side.

Statement From Defence Secretary James Maxwell

Postby New Doltania » Mon Jan 08, 2018 2:37 pm

After much debate and deliberation, the parliament has come to a difficult decision. We have, with heavy hearts, decided to declare war on the Burmese Kingdom and her allies for crimes committed against the Shin Dinasty of China.

Ten Minutes Later...
The army was frustrated. The Twentieth Century was suppose to be a new dawn, but instead it brought war after war after war. They were demoralised and not ready for another war. The airplane might help, but the mainstay of the Federated States' army was still cavalry. Really? The soldiers new cavalry was hopeless against machine guns...

The 20th century arrived and with it, a new age that will forever change Strala. The Liu family of Strala has ushered in a new age for the Empire, an age of prosperity. Many generals have thought Strala has grown weak. After all, Strala's military numbers have decreased by 20% since the last century. The Empire needed to show the world its might. The Empire had been founded through a war, so naturally, its leadership assumed it would be a bloody conflict that would help Strala regain its honor

The Empire was ruled by the battle-hardened King Alexander II of house Liu. The house onced owned a grand duchy. The infighting among the duchy eventually lead to a war between all the houses. The War had taken its toll on house Liu's resources and manpower, in the past 100 years reform after reform had started to restore order to the nation. The Military also went through many reforms that started to replace incompetent generals with ones that have real battle experience. With these reforms happening the King felt that the time of change was coming

The King's chamber, The Empire of Strala
The Emperor sat in his room. His alone time was soon interrupted by someone knocking on the door. The doors swung open and in marched a General Akseki Imanov. He came from a line of well-known soldiers. The general stood at attention, saluting the King.
"What is the meaning of this interruption," asked the King.
The General cleared his throat before reading aloud from what seemed to be a Military Report, "Dire news your most Majesty! The other nations appear to be mobilizing against one another."
The King let out a laugh, "Alseki, there is nothing to worry about. Now, tell me, which side appears to be the most aggressive?"
The General replied, "My Lord, both sides seem evenly aggressive as of now. "
The face of the Kind suddenly hardened, "For now, we will stay neutral and see who can persuade us to join with them. I also want you to start to arm and mobilize the army in case of another nation attacking."
The General nodded, "Yes sire."

Nosamo, the Imperial Capital of the Guadalupadorian Empire, the 4th of Dekatem, 4494 (March 4th, 1914)

The bustling metropolis of the millennia-old capital of the Serene and Holy Empire of the Guadalupadorians reaped the benefits of a fully industrialized imperial power. The city's millions of inhabitants lived and worked in the shadow of the grand imperial palace where the entire Guadalupadorian world revolved around. The opulent palace's outer facade was over a thousand years old designed to house the First Empress, Yama Umendo. Within the palace resided Her Serene, Holy, Blessed, Incorruptible, Majesty, Empress Illenya Kharya Pariu Yama Rabkanadasha Illegdano Umendo II, considered by her subjects as a living deity, had ruled the empire since the death of her mother in 4480 (1900). The reign of her mother, Empress Giselea Diprem Rabkanadasha Umendo IX was a particularly popular, a reign that saw the Guadalupadorian Empire become an industrial and modern powerhouse on the continent of Supaciviga. Under Empress Giselea it was considered by foreign observers that the 19th Century was the first "Dorian Century" as the ambitious industrial and infrastructure projects were a resounding success in connecting the entirety of the Imperial Homeland together.

As soon as Giselea passed at the age of 70, Empress Illenya was adamant on continuing her mother's policies, with more of a focus on the modernization of Her Majesty's Imperial Armed Forces and the Colonial Authorities, millions of Rublyens were poured into military research, industrial production, and training. Her Serene Majesty spent the past decade overseeing a growing military and intelligence structure blossom into one of the most formidable fighting forces on Earth. All the Empress needed was to point it at something and fire. Imperialist ambitions weren't a rarity amongst the Dorians as the wars fought throughout the previous century were ones of colonial expansion against what were considered "lesser peoples yearning to be civilized." Once more it was time for the Guadalupadorians to spread the Way of the Gods to lesser beings across the seas. The Empress could see that the entire world was quickly tumbling into conflict as two irrelevant regional powers backed by other farther and even more irrelevant powers were about to butt heads. The war declaration was heard around the world, but the Empress didn't pay too much attention to it as she was far more interested in watching the new Military Flyers circle around the palace's airspace. The Empress thought that the airplanes would be used soon, but not now. For now, the Guadalupadorians watched waited, and collected intelligence. Expansion would come soon...

Tsetsen, Mandakh Khaganate
Imperial Palace of Bujir Khan

The plains were filled with the sound of hooves crashing against the turf. The cacophony echoed across the valleys and fields, mimicking the same sounds that had come and gone seven hundred years prior. From the jungles of Burma to the forests of Russia, even once all the way to the savannahs of Africa, the Mandakh Khaganate had sprawled across Eurasia, far eclipsing the reach of any empire before or after.

Bujir wanted it back.

A precocious young lad, he had ascended to the throne at the age of twelve following the death of his father, Sartak. Advisors and tutors had assisted him, but he found he needed them little. When it was revealed that one was plotting to use him as a puppet, he had the man quartered on the front yard of the palace, and the remains fed to the pigs. The rest were dismissed. If Louis XIV had been more paranoid, Bujir would have found a mirror of his personality in Europe almost three hundred years prior.
He watched the horses and their riders out in the fields through his binoculars, a gold plated work with lenses of the finest Austrian crystal. They were drilling with their M1895 rifles, firing from horseback at targets in the distance. Never stopping to take careful aim, they relied instead on instinctual accuracy, cultivated through millennia of striding the high plains with shortbows, and more recently, firearms from every part of the world.
Bujir had put a stop to the cobbled together military of his forefathers, and focused instead on uniformity and discipline. Banners and clans gave way to ranks and crisp green uniforms. Shortbows and spears disappeared, their place taken by rifles. Though his nation could not afford advanced flying machines of Europe and East Asia, why would he need them? The skies were the domain of the gods, and he was not one to trespass except in war. When they eventually came, he knew that there would be a way to resolve the issues. He had a whole host of generals, and enough knowledge of chemistry to be certain that there were flaws with riding upon a sack of flammable gas. Let them come, and he would punish them for their untempered arrogance.
He placed the binoculars back into the display case they came from, and the servant who had stood stock still holding said case for the last fifteen minutes quickly closed it. Bujir ignored him, turning to walk inside at a brisk pace. He was satisfied with the state of his troops, and was hoping to return to his chambers to continue research on the Austrian School of Economics, a concept which intrigued him greatly as it advocated for the removal of the ancient guilds his nation had so long known.
Unfortunately, that was not to be so. He was interrupted by a newspaper from China, carefully placed upon his desk by another unidentified servant. His Mandarin was still poorly developed, as there had been little time for a focus upon just one foreign tongue in his short time as a young prince. Now, as a young khan, his time was primarily occupied by the administration of the nation, and study was a luxury. He skimmed through the headline article as quickly as his lacking skills would allow, and found an interesting development to have occurred. Some daft Burmese moron had seen fit to assassinate the Crown Prince of Shin, and rather than actually achieving anything, had merely managed to bring down the rage of the celestial empire upon his nation. Not surprising in the slightest. But it did raise interesting possibilities. And so he walked off to meet with his generals.

An hour later, his war cabinet was assembled. Despite being a full head taller than the khan, they all were still dead serious about the situation. The child before them could make or break anything about them if he wished to do so, be it their careers or their spines. To add to the imposing effect that his authority brought with him, Bujir stood, a few centimeters taller than his cohort for once.

Without speaking, he snapped his fingers. One of the guards behind his unoccupied chair picked up the newspaper, and placed it on the table. None of the generals touched it. Bujir knew they had already read it then, as disrespect from the late Khudukha had been met with the removal of his right arm, as well as an expulsion into Tibet. None of them much wanted to visit Tibet. Horses moved poorly in the mountains, as did men.
“So, why do you suppose I ordered you here today?” His voice was still high and young. A tincture made by one of his masters of apothecary prevented cracks and squeaks, but could do little about what age had not yet been able to start.
One of the generals, Gugun, spoke up. “You have plans regarding the war in the South, your excellence?” The eyeglasses the man wore betrayed his true age, which had been hidden from his men by hair dye, but he would never fight on the battlefield again if he could not peer through rifle sights unaided.
“Entirely correct. But I am curious to hear your own thoughts on the matter, General. Speak freely.” Bujir, in reality, had no idea what he was doing. A mere two years of experience in government and little proper training in military matters beforehand had left him ill prepared for rule in this age of new empires.
One general, Tungge, furrowed his brow for a moment. “We should take this opportunity to make the best of ourselves diplomatically. Aligning with the Vienna Pact and sending an expeditionary force would make us seem favorable to the great powers while we take our time to fortify and expand the military.” He nodded at the end, agreeing with himself where no one else would, before realizing his faux pas and slumping slightly.
“I think this is an entirely different sort of opportunity,” suggested General Khuchar, with a faint smile playing across his lips. In the shadow cast over him by the window to his back, across the table from Bujir, he looked almost sinister. “The big guys aren’t home. They will be sending their armies off to die in Burma, perhaps only a few thousand, but enough to create a gap in their defenses. It has been many decades before our armies have seen a great raid, or any sort of expansion. We could fix that.”

“That’s suicidal, and you know it,” stated Kiratai firmly. “We can’t endanger ourselves in such a conflict when we lack the troops to overwhelm the enemy. Certainly, the advantage in mobility is ours, but that may as well be where it ends.”

“Do we need more than mobility?” shot back Khuchar, the grin on his face now decidedly wicked. “We merely need to outpace their trains and infantry, the former with guile and the latter with ease. It’s simple. We shall reap the secrets and wealth of industrialized nations, and forge ourselves into a power to rival them all.” Khuchar was a madman, but his smile was infectious to Bujir. There was most certainly something he could do with the situation after all.

“Thank you Khuchar, that’s enough. You’ve hit the nail upon the head.” Or, rather, gave the khan something to go with. “I favor the raiding solution. Too long, have we lurked in the shadow of the great empires around us. What of the once proud Mandakh Khaganate, spanning half the globe? What have we done with the legacy of our forebears?” And just like that, they were shut up. After all, who would dare to question the king-child who ruled the Khaganate with an iron fist? His word was law, and his law was unquestionable. And so, the keshiks began to arm themselves in earnest, awaiting the order to ride out into the cities and towns of the usurpers.

I make exactly two exceptions from a fairly strict adherence to realism, and hate them both.

Tear, Central Karthspire
Maravirr Square
Although the city of Kal'Dovaat in the Grand Duchy of Allyria was where the Emperor prefered to rule from, the official Capital of the Empire was Tear. It was a grand old city. Unlike the cities of other empires, no smoke rose from the vast area the city covered. For a great deal of time, the Empire had lagged behind by a good 80 years. Its massive size made modernisation a feat for even the most tried and tested rulers. What replaced the hustle and bustle of technological innovation was spirit. As the capital, the city was full of fervent patriotism for the Empire and love for its ruler; unlike those who would divide the nation. It was from here, the Emperor believed, that the war effort would be best led. The almost zealous spirit would carry the nation believed the royal court. In some senses, Maravirr Square was the centre of the nation. It was here, some 7 generations before that the current Emperor's ancestor proclaimed this very Empire.

Today, that spirit would be eliminated from the heart of the nation. Journalists would swarm into the square and tell of the great events unfolding here. The Emperor, in his dress uniform and surrounded by his top Generals, moved slowly to the podium for him on the Balcony of the Magisterium, the assembly of nobles which assisted the Emperor in Governance.

He cleared his throat and paused for a few moments, surveying the crowd. Among them, all peoples of the Empire could be seen. Allyrians, Skjallins, Sanaatrians, Vethrians and many more. All of them looking up to him with hope and pride. Flags fluttered throughout the square and not a pinch of sound could be heard from those assembled. From this, the Emperor began, "Fellow patriots." He paused once more, unsure of what to say to the thousands of faces fixated on him. "The modern world has for some time been taking shape around us. For too long have we abstained from modernisation, from progress. For too long our peoples have divided one another based upon the land of whichever Kingdom their forefathers worked or by what language they spoke. Although we must admire the successful who came before us, we must not let that define who we are as a people today. No longer can we tolerate these petty divisions among us." He stiffened his posture and began to assert himself fully.

"The world is unravelling around us. Why? For the simple reason that in the minds of some it is acceptable to use violence against others for the petty reasons, I have already mentioned. Do not be deceived, we do not wish to be caught on that side of the divide. We must strive to drag our nation kicking and screaming into the Modern Age. We must strive to go toe to toe with all those who would argue our claim of being one of this world's truly great nations. But most importantly, we must not allow this great empire to decline any longer!" With this, the crowd began cheering and waving flags vigorously.

The Emperor waited patiently for the excitement to go down, "Our nation has been irrelevant and left our for too long, fellow patriots. If we care about our nation, which I believe deep down we all do, then we must re-create the glories of the past. No-longer can we sit idly by while the other great powers stake their claims on the field of battle. We too must soon choose a side." With that, the Emperor relinquished the podium and went inside the building. The crowd was electrified. Chants of "Long live Karthspire, long live the Emperor!" could be heard throughout the city and in the days following all of the Empire in all of the tongues of its people. The Empire awaited the great alliances which were being forged to begin action so one or another could persuade the empire to fight with them.

Furby City, Furby Island

Furby City

Like most cities in the country, Furby City was originally a small village inhabited by the native Polynesians. Victoresian explorers have colonized the land in 1488, and massacred the population and brought diseases. The survivors have fled to the nearby dense jungle. The area was resettled when the Victoresians left in 1579, and it soon grew to be larger than it was at first. Several hundred years later, when Furby Island was settled by the Dutch, and later British, and it became the capital of the new colony. When Furby Island became independent in 1805, the city became the capital of the new country.

The port of Furby City is one of the largest ports in the country, and largest port in the western part of it. After being placed under siege twenty-two times in the Furbish Civil War, the port has always been flourishing. It was a domestic port, sending and receiving goods to and from the foreign ports in the territories. The port is also surrounded by the most modern part of the city. The residents have always adapted to new styles, and built the city to reflect that. The port has also been an important naval base for the Furbish Navy. Ships are often built there, and it is the home port for most ships that are not stationed in the territories. Some of the more larger ships were built there, including the recently launched FIS Gelderman, which is the first super-dreadnought built by the navy.

Furby City has embodied many changes that have happened to the country. The city was large, and was full of traditional architecture. But the western part of the city is more modern, with people fully embracing new changes. Horses and carriages that once filled the streets were replaced by cars. Communication was now done by phones and radios, and not by telegraphs. Streetcars were soon the primary mode of transportation within the city. Many other cities have seen the same changes. But Furby City, the capital, is arguably the most modern.

In the new century and turn of the previous one, many new technologies have been invented that can change the way war is fought forever. There were two that seemed to have potential. The first is the dreadnought battleship. It has changed many things from battleships before it. The Furbish Navy saw huge potential in them. The other technology is the airplane. It is a very new technology, only being invented a few years earlier. But the military also saw potential in the plane as a reconnaissance tool, and possibly a new way of fighting.

But tensions are also very high between nations. There are several chains of alliances, which mean any small event can spiral out of control quickly. Furbish allies going to war would drag in Furby Island, which in turn would drag in other Furbish allies, and their allies. Many hoped a war wouldn’t happen, and keep war in the past, or knowing what has happened in China.

Capitol

The capitol is a building where the executive branch of Furby Island is headquartered. It was originally the seat of the colonial government, but was soon replaced after the revolution in 1805. The building was expanded many times to encompass for employees, but expansions were careful to keep the style of the building.

A emergency meeting was called by Prime Minister Olaf Houtman with his cabinet and generals. News has reached Furby Island of a Burmese national assassinating a Chinese crowned prince, Chinese retaliation, and Bharatiya’s reaction. Being an ally to Bharatiya, Furby Island has the obligation to help. But that would cause other Furbish allies to be dragged in. A world war may be caused. They will discuss if they should join, and if they do, possible plans.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Grand Duke Thomas Marshall: "Based on analysis of the situation of the situation by the Joint Command, we have possible plans of attack for each side. If we join and Radimostan does, that will open up a front between them and Lotharia. Victores and Mesairien may join the war with China, and that will result them sending soldiers directly to Burma and/or us. We will have quite a few enemies to deal with on our side. Possibly not being able to send soldiers on other fronts. But if anybody gets through our navy, a landing operation wouldn't be successful. The worst that can be done is a blockade, but even then we will survive with one in place. The positives of us joining would be easing up the other fronts."

Deputy Prime Minister Jensen Branch: "I am not so sure on the plan. A blockade would be devastating, not to mention a possible bombardment on our coasts. Uprisings from natives still happen here too. Are you sure diverting a large army to fight our neighbors is a good idea? What if the worst happens, and Radimostan does not join? That can be quite a lot of soldiers that will take on Burma and Bharatiya, and they will probably deal with us quickly too."

Grand Duke Marshall: "You don't have to worry. We are fully able to be self sustaining in case of a blockade. When I mentioned the blockade earlier, I do not thing they are even able to muster enough ships. They probably do, but using too much naval power here would cause Bharatiya to gain naval superiority. And uprisings aren't happening much now, and the very few that do aren't powerful. A militia gathered from the nearest village can be enough to quell one."

DPM Branch: "Well I think I am convinced. I really wish we couldn't join this war, but we cannot let our allies down."

Admiral in Chief Grand Duke Burkhardt Frey: "Well we should explain our plans fully. Our enemies are fighting a two front. Bharatiya and Burma on one side, and us on the other. We have Japan to deal with, if Mesairien and/or Victores do not join. More likely one or both will, so our navy will be split between dealing with both. All nations we are dealing with have large navies, which we have to counter with our own. We can send large ships towards their direction to distract them, while striking them with Gelderman tactics. We can also wreak havoc on their shipping with submarines. So far, we need to have all our ports build ships in order to make it through."

To: Bharatiya
From: Prime Minister Olaf Houtman

Esteemed leader,
We have wrote to address that we will declare war on China. We believe that they had no reason to invade Burma, and most importantly, we believe we must support our allies at all costs.

Declaration of War

A Burmese national has assassinated the crowned prince of China. China is planning on retaliating, and Bharatiya will counter. The actions done by China are unjust. They retaliated without considering any diplomatic option. Actions done by Bharatiya are just. Actions done by China are not. The same can be said about Japan and Lotharia for supporting China.

The Republic of Furby Island hereby declares war on China, Japan, and Lotharia.

Ducal dining room, Castle Gebrook, March 4th, 1914, approximately 18:00pm.:

"How's your pork, dear?" Duke Maximiloan glances over to his young wife Eda.
The old man's shivering a bit. The halls of the medieval castle aren't blocking out the cold, and Max feels very uncomfortable dining. This weekend out with his wife and two daughters should have been a relaxing, fun holiday.
Eda looks up to the duke. He's greeted by a warm smile, as a means to thank him for his gallantry
"I think it tastes brilliant, the chef has really outdone himself today."
Maximiloan laughs and nods in agreement. The two go on having conversations about the children, the hunt and perhaps some of the personnel working for them on their many keeps throughout Limburg. The usual.
At 18:00 in the Evening, the two are disturbed by a servant rushing into the room. He's breathing heavily and is carrying a note.

"My duke, my duchess..", he continues: "I regret to inform that the empire of Lotharia has gone to war with Burma. The emperor officially declared war this afternoon. Reports say that Lotharian artillery is pounding the Burmese lines at this moment. The Empire of China and the Japanese Shogunate are backing the Lotharians while Bharatiya and Furby Island have denounced the Lotharian action in Asia, and are currently backing the Burmese. We would have informed your ducal highness earlier, but the only operational telephone line right now is Berlin-Mestreech."
Shock and amazement swept the room, as even the servants working for the duke stopped their acts and listened in despair. The duke simply stared at the informant in disbelief. His wife Eda held her hands before her mouth and started praying. After a short moment of despair, the duke looked across the empty room, and rose from his seat. He looked at his wife for a moment, and then turned to the servant. "Inform the others that I expect my uniform to be lying in my chamber once I've finished my bath. Tell the ducal chauffeur that I will leave for Mestreech at..." The duke inspects his wristwatch, "19:00 peak. Do you understand?" The duke had seemingly lost his appetite.

23:00, Ducal palace outside of Mestreech:

After councelling with his ministers and trustees, the duke has decided to stick with neutrality, until the Lotharians direly need their help. They have strong economic and political ties, and Maximiloan himself is a German. He sighs. He is unsure what to think of this war.

Nosamo, Guadalupadorian Empire. 5th of Dekatem 4494 (March 5, 1914)

The latest issue on the Imperial Court’s docket was that of the far off war that the degenerate lesser powers had just engaged in. The latest news had trickled in that Furby Island had joined Bharatiya’s side in defending the Burmese against “Imperial” China. Combat operations were off to a relatively slow start as the news revealed that a few border skirmishes had only occurred. Though the news would most likely change as the Chinese Army would arrive in force later within the week. The Empress silently listened to her Court discuss the merits of entering such a war with lesser civilizations. Since imperialist ambition was all the craze within the Empire, the promise of new lands to subjugate and civilize was quite the tempting thought. Neither side really piqued the Empress’ interest as the Lotharians were seen as a barbarous people, speaking an offensively harsh mongrel tongue. The people of India, long seen as a once-respectful civilization far past its prime; thousands of years past its prime. India needed to be civilized again, and Guadalupadorian culture would be the only way. China and Japan were seemingly Lotharian puppet kingdoms only willing to do the bidding of some probably inbred European monarch. To the Imperial Court and the Empress herself, it was all too disgusting indeed. It was decided that if the Empire was to go to war then it would have to be on its own accord.

The Guadalupadorian Empire, although it saw other cultures and civilization as below the “One True Civilization,” this line of thought was never official diplomatic policy. It was a seen as a necessary evil to talk, trade, and harbor good relations with lesser powers. On the outside, the Empire was generally seen as a stuffy, but polite, and reasonable power to foreigners. Imperial embassies across the world were seen by Imperial Citizens as small beacons of light in a dark and uncultured world. Upon the Empress’ order, the Guadalupadorian Imperial Embassies within Berlin and Calcutta were telegrammed Missives to be sent to the respective leaders of Lotharia and Bharatiya, urging each side to stop the bloodshed and let diplomacy resume. It was of course a useless action, the wheels have already been set into motion, however it showed to both men that the Guadalupadorian Empire was watching the conflict unfold.
As the very short missive was sent out, a secret order was sent out to the Imperial Spy Network to double efforts in intelligence collection in China, Lotharia, Bharatiya and Burma. The Empire needed a more nuanced look into the war itself before acting on any imperialist ambition...

The Royal Palace, City of Orias, Island of Mesa
9 Hours after the Lotharian Declaration of war

The Queen had awoken in a brilliant mood today… today, the day when Mesairien would launch her newest and most powerful Battlecruiser, the HMS Archangel. Not even commissioned yet and already touted by the media to be the Queendom’s next Flagship.
The day that commemorates the battle of the Jetsu Straight, when the Mesairien Navy finally crushed the rebelling Pirate Queen, who had plagued the Nation for decades during the 18th century, with a move of pure genius. Of course, this victory was centuries old but the propaganda of Mesairien Naval might was vital to national spirit and so, as every year, the day was celebrated as a National holiday.
Even in the early hours of the morning Sheira could hear her people beginning the preparations for the festivities that evening, some were already singing and, she mused, getting ludicrously drunk.

This wonderful mood was not to last however, not 2 minutes from her bedroom door the Queen was swarmed by her ministers. A Chinese prince had been murdered by some idiot from Burma and now not only was China at war, but, bizarrely, Lotharia had joined in as well.
She sighed, that could only mean one thing. The Admiral and Grandmaster were about to start fighting again. The Queen waved the ministers away and walked as quickly as she could towards the war room at the farthest end of the palace.

“If Lotharia has declared war, surely we have an obligation to support them?” Chimed Grand-Admiral Adven, his tone growing ever angrier at Grandmaster Thorne. The two held this argument often, the Admiral valuing the defensive pact between Mesairien and this far flung Empire, constantly trying to push for it to become a full military alliance, whilst the Grandmaster… didn’t.
“Why in Kleira’s name do we care about some jungle-born hillbilly murdering a China-man? This is no concern of ours, let the Lotharians throw their lives away. We’re in a Defensive alliance, the hell does this matter to us? Lotharia is the aggressor!” Refuted the Grandmaster as he slammed his fist to the table in frustration at his old rival. It was safe to say this debate wouldn’t reach a swift end.
With that, the guards at the doors flung that open with a loud creak, both men knew exactly what the reason was. They swiftly stopped their posturing, turned towards the door, slammed their fists to their chests and bowed as the Queen entered the room.

“I see you haven’t killed eachother yet. Shame.” She remarked, giving a slight chuckle at her own words. “You may rise, we have a lot to talk about and no we will not discuss honouring or dishonouring any alliances.” Giving a knowing nod to the two men as they rose and turned back towards the table.
“But, your majesty-” Adven tried to express his view to the Queen but he was silenced by her hand raised over his mouth. She’d long grown tired of these debates over Isolationism and interaction with foreign powers. Today definitely wasn’t the day to make them the topic of discussion.

“I don’t care. The Lotharians may have declared war but we will not back them unless they themselves have been declared upon.” She calmly sighed. “Even then I’m not so sure I want to be involved, this situation is simply ludicrous.”
The Admiral fell silent, not wishing to anger Sheira, the Grandmaster however rolled his eyes at his companions lack of willpower, scratched his head and remarked to the Queen;
“The fact is though, we have to do something, this war is on our side of the globe. Even if it wasn’t, the other Nations that might take advantage of this war could easily threaten the Commonwealth. We can’t appear weak, so what would you have us do?”
The Queen smiled at her commander, she appreciated his brashness. Being straight to the point was always useful when all she ever wanted was to get these kinds of meetings over as fast as possible.

On the table the two men had been slamming their fists into, lay a map of Mesairien and her Commonwealth, a large portion of the Pacific and Oceania (Or the Aluvean Seas as the Mesairien’s called it) carved into its wood. She pointed down towards it and everyone took a step back to get a better view as Queen Sheira began to walk around it, tracing her hand along the wood.
“Simple. Deploy the Archangel Battle Group to the farthest Commonwealth nations at the end of the day, tell the press its an arbitrary military exercise when in reality, they will protect those islands against any other Nation’s nagging ambition.” She continued. “On top of that, get the 4th and 7th Destroyer Squadrons out of the Home fleet and deploy them along the Hawaii and Fiji trade routes respectively. We aren’t joining any wars but we aren’t getting caught with our pants down either.”

“Should we send any communiques to the Lotharians?” Quizzed Admiral Adven, finally getting his voice back. “No. They can come to us.” Refuted the Queen. "Now, let's go commission my Battlecruiser."

Limburgs paramilitaries crossing the Limburgs-Lotharian border

Due to diplomatic pressure, Limburg will now send 1 regiment "Rienwoach/Rhine's watch" (3.000 men) of paramilitary infantry to the empire of Lotharia. All of the men are equipped with Limburgs-made bolt-action rifles of adequate quality. There are no support battalions such as artillery.

Image
De Beaumont rifle "Wittem", 8,5mm (8,5x60mm Beaumont)

Most of them are Limburgs-Lotharian citizens, of which most are labourers and miners from South-Limburg, who want to participate in the battles for the sake of honour. Among them is the son of duke Maximilioan I, Junker Rupprecht von Fürstenberg serving as a Captain. Their enlistment into Eastern-Limburgs paramilitary groups is most likely due to the war enthiousiasm. The troops are not exactly well-trained, but will do as a garrison unit, or as a proper regiment fighting on the frontlines after it's received additional training.
The location of the troops changed from Voals to Köln in the Rhineland. The Lotharian empire now has an additional 3,000 men to command.

Tear, Central Karthspire
Maravirr Palace
Image

They headed back inside the cool, lofty palace from the cheering crowds in the heat of the summer square.

"My Liege, you seem to have prepared the nation for war, may I ask what your real intentions for our nation are?" The Emperor's top General, Erlan Trisleth, had first alerted the Emperor to news of the war to give him the time to persuade him to refrain from sudden action. So, naturally, he sounded reasonably concerned, especially as he'd be taking part in some Cavalry charges that he himself would have to plan.
The Emperor seemed to freeze for a moment. Someone from the lower orders was questioning his authority, something rarely heard of outside the realms of contemporary works of fiction, "My most esteemed General," the Emperor paused for a moment to allow time for him to pour himself a glass of Wine, "I would advise you to learn your place better. We at the top of the pyramid command, those who are lower follow. You may be a General and of Noble Birth but you are still no Emperor. Do we understand one another?"

The General nodded hastily before promptly replying, "My Liege, do you have any orders?"
The Emperor nodded, "Write to the Bharat and Burmese embassies. Let them know that we wish to provide them with Officers as well as Financial support. Currently, our nation is not yet fully ready for war. Perhaps in a years time we will have made significant enough industrial progress to get fully involved."

Trisleth bowed before heading to his office and writing,

To those who happen to lead the most prestigious nations of Burma and Bharat,
the 2nd Karthspiri Empire sees its long-term strategic and political interests wound up in this war. Although as of present we do not wish to entangle ourselves in such matters of conflict, our Emperor wishes to provide your alliance of nations with Karthspiri Officers as well as any support you need in the short-term.
Faithfully, General Erlan Trisleth, 13th Eastern Cavalry Division

The Republic of Radimostan
Image

Two decades ago last Radimostaninn monarch died without a proper heir, instead of accepting any foreign royal as the new Radimostanian Emperor, the Parliament, controlled by the Republicans, has decided to form the Radimostanian Republic. The current President and former forum deputy Marek Nosek has just started his first term in the office when it began to be obvious that war is inevitable. The already large Golden Imperium of Lotharia has exploited the situation in China, in order to spread German influence and fulfil their imperialistic ambitions. It is obvious that someone has to stop them, the democratic nation of Furbish Islands already pledged their support to protect minor Asian nations from the fury of so-called "Golden Imperium." Radimostan now has to choose; they will either have to fight a much superior foe or break the alliance that exists between it and Furbish Islands.

Presidential Palace, Radimopolis
It is not so long ago when this city in the middle of the country was renamed to Radimopolis and the seat of power has the moved from Chernogorod to here. Now it is partially cloaked by smog as industrialization collected its toll, and dominated by the Presidential Palace. It was once the mansion of monarchs, now the symbol of republican government. This massive Barocco building, encircled by various other important governmental facilities, such as courts or ministries, didn't just accommodate the living quarters and the office of the Head of State, but also the three hundred and sixty men strong legislature, known as the Grand Forum.

Today Nosek called a special meeting of his cabinet, and all ministers were already present in the large massive wood-lined room, where the cabinets of various former governments met, since the foundation of democracy in Radimostan. While they were waiting for the President, many of them discussed the latest topic. Will the small, mostly peaceful Radimostanian Republic go to war with much more powerful and militarised Lotharia? Will the war limit or even end the trade in Mediterranean sea? Will be this nation forced to bow to the vile ever-expanding Germans, no matter if it goes to war or not? Suddenly, loud screeching can be heard as massive wooden doors open, and the circa. forty years old and relatively short President enters the room.

"Gentelmans..." Worries could be heard in his voice. "I will not walk around the hot porridge. I presume everyone knows what is going on, it is almost in every newspaper." He paused and sat down at the table, where all ministers have gathered around. "The pact we sign with the Furbish is defensive. We are not at war yet, nevertheless, it came to me that Furbish expects our support." He paused once again. "What are your opinions."

"As you said Mr President." Responded Viktor Sykora, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. "It was a defensive pact and we are not under any obligation to go to this war. If we go to this war on the Furbish side, we will support the aggressors. After all, the Burmese Kingdom is the one who sta--"

"Bollocks!" Shouts Kamil Gwozdek, Vice-President and also the Minister of Finances, while he stands up and slams his fist on the table. "Do everyone in this room really believe what Germans tell us? It is obvious that what happened is nothing more than a false flag operation. One day the crown prince of China is killed, and the second day the Chinese artillery bombard the Bharatian positions!" Gwozdek continued. "If we do not stop Lotharian now, they will sooner or later consume us all! They already forced out many our Slavic brothers from their homes, why do you think this will not happen to us? We have to strike now when there is the alliance forming against them!"

Many members clapped and cheered at his brief and energetic speech. Radimostan was full of anti-germanic sentiment, everyone wanted Lotharia stoped. Only the Minister of Foreign Affairs remained sceptical, but the President ignored him.

"Very well then." He said. "But are our armies prepared?"

Minister of War immediately replied. "Even though our land forces are much smaller, the border with Lotharia is very mountainous. We should be able to hold them off until Furbish troopers make the breakthrough in Asia."

"What about the status of our navy?" Nosek asked and looked at the Minister of Navy.

"Well, Mr President." Replied the minister. "We could use our navy and isolate the Mediterranean Sea and starve their fleets in the Middle East."

"We should also remember to support rebellions in their colonies." Added Gwozdek.

Ultimatum against the
Golden Imperium of Lotharia

We the government of the Republic of Radimostan, chosen by the people, hereby condemn the aggressive actions of Lotharia, and issue ultimatum against them. We demand to withdraw their support to China and end any military action against the nation of Bharat. If the Golden Imperium fails to compel in 24 hours, we will be forced to step in.

Signed: President Marek Nosek

HIGH DECRYPTION

We the government of the Republic of Radimostan, chosen by the people, ask your Majesty to help us in our campaign. The so-called "Golden Imperium" has only one goal, to consume us all. This was the city of Vel’yaminovka. The city was constructed during the 10th century as a small village. It soon grew to become the main industrial hub of the nation. The smoke of all the factories chocked out the blue sky. On the outskirts of the city, there were several forts that were built in the early 12th century as a mean of defense against foreign raiders. The city also was the home to the Stralian high command. In the recent months, the city has seen a massive influx of soldiers and generals. The port near the city also gained an influx of ships. This was all because of the war that was raging among the other nations.

Stralian High Command building

General Alexi was sitting next to another general. He was talking with about the war with that said general. It was well known inside of Strala that Alexi had one of the biggest spy rings in the nation. The building was crammed with guards and other high ranking officers from all the branches. Suddenly they were interrupted by a messenger bursting into the room. He immediately got out a letter and started to read it "Esteemed Generals and Admirals from the Republic of Radimonstan.they have asked us to join a coalition with them against the Germans." He quickly finished reading the rest of the letter then quickly excused himself out of the room. The building burst into total anarchy after the messenger left. Most of the generals and admirals including Alexi wanted to join the coalition since this would benefit them since they knew that the Germans were invading other Slavic nations. The remaining generals and admirals argued that joining the coalition would be too risky. They said that the nation was not ready to face the Germans yet. This fell on deaf ears since when the voting started the vote was 20 to 8 in favor of joining the coalition. Soon afterward the King was informed of what had happened.

Alexi was overjoyed when the vote was in favor of joining the coalition. This was finally a chance of showing the world that Strala was not a pushover nation. It was also a chance to gain a better relationship with neighboring Slavic nations. He let out a laugh when he thought about the faces of the people who didn't want to join the coalition. He would make sure that they would not keep their ranks. They weren't worthy of their ranks. The Empire more than ever needs brave generals that were willing to sacrifice their lives and safety for the Empire

Message to
Marek Nosek, President of the Republic of Radimonstan

We the high-command of the Empire of Strala, chosen by King, have agreed to help you. The King has also agreed to help. We will send troops your way once we finish mobilizing our army. We have never forgiven nor forgotten what the Germans did to our brothers. This was the reason we have decided to help you.

Matuata Island, Zuidoostelijketerritoria
Furby Island

Matuata Naval Base

The city of Matuata is a small sized city in the Southeastern Territories, or Zuidoostelijketerritoria, as it is officially known. It originally started off as a small fishing village by the Native Polynesians, but then was taken over by Furbish soldiers in the late 1860s, it became another port city. It wasn't very large like its neighbors Kanton and Lifulau, but many goods still come through there. It lies on an island of the same name. The island used to be all jungle, but most has been cut down.

A naval base has been built everywhere on the island where there isn't a city or jungle. The base's piers have a capacity of a little over two hundred ships, but there was plenty of room for expansion. It was built when the island was taken over at that time, and has served as a base of operations in all areas in the south and southwest Pacific since the Victores-Furbish War. Many ships are often supplied in the base before leaving, and often many get repaired there as well.

Currently the entire Second Fleet has docked at the base. The ships have almost entirely filled out the capacity of the port. This man ships usually aren't stationed in the same port at once, unless they will soon embark on an attack. And they were going to attack. War has recently been declared on Japan, China, and Lotharia, and the navy has began mobilization. Many more ships are being built rapidly to try to get an advantage over the enemy forces. The ships were undergoing their final preparations to begin an attack.

The fleet has a large variety of ships, ranging from super-dreadnoughts and dreadnoughts, all the way down to destroyers and submarines. The destroyers would lead the fleet, patrolling for mines and enemy submarines, followed by the main force. The flagship is the FIS Vincent Gelderman, which is a super-dreadnought. However it is ironically named, as Gelderman, who was an admiral in the Furbish Navy over a hundred years earlier, preferred light ships and hit and run tactics. Many of those would be practiced by destroyers, cruisers, and submarines which would be ahead of the fleet.

After final preparations, the fleet began to depart. Admiral Archduke Theodor Brenner was the commander in chief of the fleet. He stood on the deck of the FIS Vincent Gelderman, watching the rest of the ships and the sea ahead. The fleet was heading towards the easternmost chain of islands Japan owned. Scout ships swan ahead to look for possible enemies. The ships moved along the waters, and were ready to shoot any incoming Japanese ships.

Kiewit aerodrome, Hasselt. 13:00, 6th of March.

"Bloody asians have no clue what they're about to start." Theodor Stotzingen, a young nobleman originally born in Swäbisch hall, Theodor looks up into the sky, inspecting the aeroplanes circling around the compound. His friend, Wiel Dumont, smiles and sips his tea. Theodor continues: "The Lotharians'll make mince meat of them. They're technologically superior and their army is massive. Our boys'll be back in no time." Wiel's no fan of his companion's nationalism. He was born in an ordinary family in Heële. His father used to be a miner. He died when Wiel was about six. Wiel thinks back to the simpler times in his home town, dreamingly stirring his tea. As he thought of home, he watched as the mighty steel vultures around him flew across the bright blue skies. As the two were calmly sitting in their wooden chairs a few yards away from the landing strip, Theodor started another conversation: "I've heard rumours that duke Maximilioan I spent days councelling with his generals and ministers. Do you reckon we'll support our Lothingian comrades?" Wiel turned his head towards the nobleman. His facial expression seemed rather indifferent. "Our comrades?" Theodor laughed. "Think about it. When was the last time that Lothingia lost a war?" Theodor rose, and continued: "Lands, titles and honours are waiting for us in those foreign fields, Wiel. Don't you feel obligated to fulfill your duty as a European man?" "I feel obligated to tell you to shut up and sit down." Theodor sat down and frowned, and after a short period of silence, he continued: "Haven't you heard about the Rhine's watch? 3.000 men crossing the border to support Lothingia in their war? The Asians don't have aeroplanes. They don't know how to properly use them. We'll rule the skies, Wiel." Wiel sighed and turned his back to Theodor, trying to make his sturdy, cold wooden chair a bit more comfortable. "Fuck off", he muttered. As the two enjoyed their times off as commercial aeroplane pilots, a man in uniform approached them. They estimated the man to be in his late 50s, maybe 60s. His hair was grey and his facial expression was stern. As the man came closer to the two, he looked down upon them and introduced himself with: "I've been ordered to inform you about your enlistment into the military. New laws dictate that all able-bodied pilots are to be conscripted into the Ducal Fighter Corps, acting as fighter pilots in new biplanes. Congratulations, gentlemen." The colonel chuckles, and escorts the pilots to a column of armoured cars parked outside of the airfield.

The Limburgs Weermoag is now conscripting their commercial pilots aged 20-30 into the recently established air force. They will also be investing more into their armed forces and air force, and will try to develop faster, and more manoeuvrable fighter aeroplanes.

This was the pride of the Stralian army. Every soldier that has ever seen this beast of destruction were shocked at what it could do. "General I believe that this alone has given us a slight advantage currently," said the captain that commandeered the train. "Why is that so Captain," asked Alexi. "This here can bring large amounts of firepower and it can travel at fast speeds." Alexi thought about this for a while before asking the captain "How much men can it hold" The captain answered straight away "It can hold around 150 men excluding crew." This number was not a surprise to him since the train was built for dishing out heavy amounts of damage. It was not meant to hold troops and transport them. This got him thinking, what would happen if the nation created more of this armored trains and sent them out to fight the Germans. "Captain I want you to escort a train to the Republic of Radimonstan. I want the troops there as fast as they can." This order shocked the captain. He did not expect this order. He thought it would take at least another month before an order like this would happen. When he finally snapped out of his initial shock he said yes sir. Alexi hoped that he was making the right choice since these men were going to face the giant known as Lotharia. Everyone knows that Lotharia is the main superpower in Europe. After the interview, he went straight to the king to ask for permission to start to experiment with different type of weapons. After a heated argument, Alexi finally got his point to the King. He thought to himself, no longer will the Slavic nations be pushed around anymore. The Germans and their allies won't know what will hit them. They have been growing arrogant, while nations like Strala have only been growing stronger.

The Imperial Stralian military is now experimenting with new weapons. The weapons will be tested against convicts of any major offense. The army will also now start to invest more in weapon development and the new air force. Currently, the air force have 100 planes ready for service but most of the pilots are recruits, also 2650 troops have also been sent to Radimonstan. Most of them are veterans from former wars

Oud-Gouvernement, Maastricht, seat of the Limburgs department of foreign affairs

Duke Maximiloan is sweating. There's a large crowd of people around the medieval building in the centre of Mestreech. He feels intimidated. It was a mere 80 years ago when the Limburgers rebelled against the opressors. It all started in this building, these halls, with the crushing of Holland's bureaucracy in Limburg. The meeting he'd ordered was shortly coming to an end. As high-ranking generals, ministers and advisors argued over the best ways to deal with this "Great War" as the newspapers around Europe had started to call it. The council seemed very divided, arguing over the simplest of things. Most of the gentlemen in the hall were bureaucrats and military commanders of the old guard. When a discussion about the tactical deployment of aeroplanes came to a climax, the duke stood up and stared at his minister of foreign affairs Paul Hymans. He'd go on to do something remarkably famous among the populace of Mestreech. The entirety of the room had their eyes fixated at Maximilioan, waiting for him to say anything.
"Hymans, mittkoome." The minister eagerly nodded and followed the duke as they left the hall. The doors of the building were tightly locked, to uphold the masses outside. "Oefmache." The duke's facial expression was tense, and there were drops of sweat visible on his forehead. The soldiers hastily unlocked the door and opened it for the duke. The people waiting outside were shocked to see the duke. As an authoritarian monarch, he wasn't much of a man of the people, and rather spent his time with his trustees and generals. A random sergeant named Dramme ordered a few soldiers to set up some sort of improvised podium. Once they'd finished this task, the duke'd ascend and face the masses.
"My dear people of Limburg, my courageous comrades and my beloved friends, 80 years ago, this building was a warzone. People were humiliated, enslaved and killed. Proud, brave people of Limburg, listen to me speak these words of patriotism. This land, the land of green hills, of the clear blue skies and dense forests, this land is a land of pioneers. Your heroic ancestors came to this land to prosper, and prosper they did. It is no wonder that the Dutch wanted this land. But our people, our people rose up. Broke their chains, and murdered their masters. This is not a people of barbarians murdering their higher-ups, this is not a nation of slaves. This is the land of Limburg. And it will remain to be so." he paused for a short second to catch his breath. "My son is currently serving in a German army, in foreign fields, fighting for his freedom and his god. After fierce discussions with my foreign minister, I have decided to diplomatically support the nation of Lotharia. Any country to declare war upon our valuable allies as of now will have to face this land. We will also start with a series of economic sanctions upon the state of the Mediterranean Union. They'll have to buy their coal and timber elsewhere. Let this be a warning to all that deny the independence of the Limburgs people, to all that want to threaten this beautiful country: Limburg has known independence for 80 years and it will not back down. It will not see its friends crushed by the gears of counter-imperialism. We will defend our homeland, our people and our duke, so help us god."

The duchy of Limburg declares that it will back the empire of Lotharia. Any country to declare war on the empire will also have to face Limburg.

The duchy of Limburg declares that they will blockade all trade with the Mediterranean Union, and will seize lethal products entering the country.

Because of the Duke's speech, Limburg is seen as a somewhat agressive nation, and diplomatic ties to some countries (especially democratic ones or countries currently fighting Lotharia) will seriously deteriorate.

The speech is comparable to that of Kaiser Wilhelm II's "Hunnenrede" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=794AbtJrvVg

HMS Shark, Mesairien Frigate
Just off the coast of the Island of Destra, eastern most Commonwealth member

Image

The days since the declarations of war across the globe had continued relatively the same as always within the Queendom and its Commonwealth. The HMS Archangel had been successfully commissioned, followed by a wondrous night of celebrations and Naval exercises to showcase the nations Naval might. Whilst this was all going on, the HMS Shark and HMS Parzen, two relatively old, but fast, Frigates, had been continuing their usual duty of transporting news, civilians and supplies to the outermost Commonwealth islands.
Here in Destra, these two aging Frigates were almost all the islands inhabitants ever saw of the outside world. Housing only a few hundred civilians, it was actually the smallest and most sparse member of the Commonwealth. So sparse in-fact, many had tried to push Queens of the past to simply annex it outright, something both the islanders and the Queens had vehemently rejected. Whilst this political drama was a source of tension in this remote place, it was hardly the most important point of the day.

Civilian vessels had alerted the Mesairien government to the deployment of a Furbish fleet out into the pacific, whilst this was to be expected it would not do for the Queendom to simply ignore a large number of ships passing through waters that Mesairien's considered to be their sole sovereignty. As such, Grand-Admiral Adven had used the wireless to order the 7th Battlecruiser squadron to shadow the foreign fleet until it left the Mesairien zone of interest, or was fired upon.
The 7th however, was at least a day out, being stationed over in Merodin, and had no real intel on the exact location of the Furbish forces. As such the Shark and Parzen, had been ordered to cut their routine supply runs short and go on ahead to the most likely location of the Furbs and, if they could intercept the fleet, transmit their location to the Battlecruisers so they could match course and intercept.

Captain Tomlin of the Shark stood aboard his bridge, hard as a rock, deep in thought, showing no emotion. Standing amongst his crew, all preforming their routine duties to keep the ship running, managing the rudders, shouting down orders to the engine crew. Tomlin was hiding it well but under his hard exterior his nerves were getting the better of him. The fact was, these two Frigates would need to get within eyesight, nay - firing range - of an entire, potentially hostile, Fleet. A fleet that was much more modern than these two hunks of bolts. The pair would have to stay there for at least a day, potentially longer if there were delays, until the Battlecruisers arrived to provide the power to fight the Furbish back if things got out of hand.

"Ship sighted! Starboard bow! Furbish colours!" The sudden shout from the lookout nest reverberated around the bridge and shook Tomlin out of his nervous thoughts, in almost no time at all they'd spotted the Furbish fleet and now their duty was clear.
"Helm, bring us about, match their speed and heading." Tomlin barked as he began moving throughout his bridge. "Ensign, alert the Parzen and make sure she sticks with us." He nodded to one of the younger Ensigns who didn't have any major role on the bridge, the young man saluted the Captain before running outside to man the spotlight and begin transmitting. "First mate, once we're in range of those ships make damn sure they know we're just here to trail and not fight. I'd wager they've brought Capital ships to bare and I'd rather not get blown to hell."

Tear, Central Karthspire

Although Karthspire was not yet at war, its support in arms and material for one side was enough to potentially draw in enemies. To counter this, a mobilisation order was issued to 250,000 soldiers. These soldiers, it is said, will be sent to the southern border of Karthspire to guard the border with Lotharia to make sure any potential Lotharian pre-emptive strike against Karthspire is met with our own troops. The southern border, although relatively flat, is full of rivers, marshes and forts. Although not impossible any potential fighting would be difficult and require immense attention to detail and planning.

Furbish Navy Second Fleet
International Waters

A day has passed since the fleet left Matuata, and it was two days away from the easternmost Japanese coast. The fleet continued moving at top speed to the targeted landing spot in Japan. It had a large variety of ships, including super-dreadnoughts, destroyers, submarines, and two seaplane carriers. The ships moved past the water relatively quickly, with the intent of getting to Japan as soon as possible. The large guns the ships are equipped with can take out enemies from a large distance away, and with the numbers, a victory is inevitable.

The three seaplane carriers, the FIS Noorderstein, FIS Sernard, and FIS Yochester, were a relatively new technology, along with the dreadnoughts. Planes have been seen as a revolutionary new technology, allowing enemies to be scouted better, especially since there weren't much ground obstacles preventing the use of planes. The planes the navy used took off from and landed at the sea, and then would be picked up by cranes from the carriers. Two carriers moved with scout groups, and one stayed with the main group.

Ahead of the main detachment, two groups of ships moved ahead to scout the routes. They were composed of destroyers, a few cruisers, and one seaplane carrier each. The groups were far ahead, but were not too far away. If under attack, the main group isn't too far away. Several planes flew from all of the groups to find possible enemies. The sea so far was empty, and the crews hoped to keep it that way, until they get to Japan where they will inevitably find an enemy fleet.

In the main group, the destroyer FIS Great White swan towards the back. It was near the fleet's flagship. The ship was new, but older than many of the rest. The captain stood on the bridge watching the sea and the rest of the fleet, and the crew were doing the checks. But then one scout noticed something. There were only two frigates from Mesairien. The scout quickly reported to the captain, who reported to the command at the flagship. Archduke Brenner ordered a scout plane be sent to look closer. The plane wouldn't get too close to avoid being shot down. That may lead to a chain of events causing Mesairien to declare war on Furby Island, and another enemy was the last thing they needed.

Orders were sent to the FIS Noorderstein to launch a plane to scout the incoming ships. The captain quickly notified the crew in the hangar deck of the orders. They searched the deck, and found a plan that they believed was in the best condition. It was fueled up and several checks have been done on it to make sure it was in good condition. The plane was lifted up to the top deck, and the pilot, Fabian Garner, and observer, Cedric Bonhomme, boarded it. They had some firearms and ammunition, but hid it to avoid coming across as hostile. The firearms would only be used in case of emergency.

After both men got on, a crane picked up the plane, and lowered it into the ocean. The crane let go, and soon the plane was moving through the water, away from the ships to avoid collisions. The plane then took off. It was headed for the two frigates. The plane would stay far away from the ships. The crew had no intention of attacking, but if the plane was shot at, it can lead to a retaliatory strike from the fleet, and they will pay dearly.

By now the two Frigates had successfully come about and were steaming ahead at full speed towards the Furbish fleet, they needed to make sure they didn't lose them now they'd been sighted. At their current speed they'd be out of Mesairien waters within 2 days, which gave the crew and Captain of the Shark a large amount of relief. The sooner this mission was over, the better as far as they were concerned.

Down below the decks on the Parzen, an ensign was hastily tapping away on the wireless, sending the ships exact position, speed and heading to command and the 7th Battlecruiser squadron as ordered. With any luck they'd have support by the end of the day.

On the Bridge of the Shark, the air was jolly, the crew was laughing and making jokes about how they bet their old ships could decimate these Furbish upstarts in no time at all. It was all posturing of course, the Shark was 14 years old and the Parzen 20, their guns could barely sink a modern Frigate/Destroyer, let alone dent a Capital ship. It was funny to dream of it though, the battle and the glory that would come with it. Captain Tomlin remarked about the death that would soon follow it.

"What in Kleira's name is that?" A lieutenant cried out, pointing out into the sky, just on the horizon, was a figure too big to be a bird and totally unknown to the Mesairien eye. The Captain reached for his binoculars and walked over to the Lieutenant, gently pushing up to the side whilst he raised them to have a look. He recognised it instantly from a news reel a few years ago. "They've sent a plane to greet us." Tomlin remarked, the whole Bridge and the decks below that were in earshot erupted into laughter - whilst much of the rest of the world saw planes as revolutionary, a sea faring people like the Mesairien's thought they were little more than a gimmick. Worthless little machines made of paper and beams.
That being said, anyone who was paying attention would note that the Mesairien lack of respect for planes meant they had a distinct lack of offensive capabilities toward planes, all they could do against one would be set up a rifle line and hope they could hit the pilot or luckily damage the engine.

"Give me a rifle, he'll be gone in a minute!" Shouted First Mate Riley, which even got the Captain to chuckle along with the crew. They all knew though, that plane needed to be left alone, that said, it didn't mean they couldn't dissuade him from getting to close to the ships.
"Riley, get a few men and rifles and line up on the deck, don't aim or shoot until I say so. I don't want him coming too close - Ensign!" Tomlin barked orders to his men who quickly climbed down from the Bridge and headed down below decks to the armoury, the Ensign he had shouted at was the same one he'd had contact the Parzen earlier.
"Get on the spotlight and prepare to relay a message towards that plane!" The Ensign nodded and hopped back onto the spotlight, switching it on and getting ready for his message. Meanwhile Riley had already reached the armoury with 4 other men and began handing out the rifles contained within.

"We're here under orders to shadow the Furbish fleet until they leave our waters. Our intentions are not hostile but Battlecruisers are on the way to provide us support, so don't try anything stupid." The Ensign began hastily relaying the message, of course, this was all futile if the pilot couldn't understand ship-to-ship communications as it was likely the Furbish vessels were too far away to spot the light. By now Riley and his group were back on deck and began lining up - the Shark wasn't exactly a large vessel after all - they didn't aim their rifles but kept themselves prepared to open fire and drop the Furbs little toy out of the sky should the order be given.
