Introduction

When it comes to exploration, the world has always looked to space. The Myraxian asteroid base. The Iryllian space shuttle. The Winter's Aria. Countless missions, countless attempts to go into space, to explore... discover... conquer.

Yet, the world hasn't even finished exploring itself. The ocean, a mystery to many, has always remained off-limits. A dark, lonely place, filled with creatures fearsome in their own rights, the ocean has been left untouched by humanity, elves and goblins alike.

Until now.

Forty years ago, an organisation calling themselves the Nautical Observers and Discovery Expediton (N.O.D.E.) approached governments around the world, offering to build an international underwater base. Plans were drawn up, and sufficient funding put in place. All was going well. Until suddenly N.O.D.E. vanished. Overnight, the organisation just seemed to disappear. With no funding, plans were shut down and construction ceased. Governments were left answering to their citizens about the sheer waste of resources.

However, five years ago, N.O.D.E. reappeared, and again offered to build the base. With promises to fund it themselves, and build it within five years, the majority of governments laughed at the idea. They agreed, mostly because they did not believe N.O.D.E. could complete the project on time and on budget. Surprisingly, N.O.D.E. managed to complete the building within three, and following multiple successful tests crews were finally selected.

And now, a little less than five years after work commenced, the first crew is about to arrive at the base. Stationed there for a year, they will be in charge of conducting experiments and exploring previously untouched areas of the world.

However, be warned. For not everything is as it seems. Trust no one.

Stonelight

Stonelight base, named after its late architect, is perhaps the only base of its kind. Found 300 metres below the surface, its location is known to only a few. The base is so deep that there are only eleven vehicles which can reach the base. Nine remain within the base, except when they are out in the field. The remaining two are held at Hub 6, at Port N.O.D.E., in western Asgareth.

Stonelight base is a state of the art underwater base. The first of its kind, Stonelight has enough room for over 300 crew, and over 60 laboratories. With a dedicated command centre, and a limited armoury, the base is equipped for whatever it may discover.

Indeed, the sheer enormity of the base has made many question just how it was built so quickly. Some said there was something peculiar about the project, even going as far as to say it was cursed. Others said N.O.D.E. was not what it appears to be. Attempts to shut down the project and expedition became frequent, but they were silenced almost immediately.

With five dedicated transport hubs, between them containing nine classes of deep sea travel, including a Fast Travel Carrier and two mobile scientific laboratories. The hubs are found underneath the base, and open automatically when it senses a vehicle. As the door opens fully, the hub will flood with water. Therefore, when transports arrive and depart, the hub is closed off until the door shuts, and the water recedes through an automatic flood-control system known as H.O.B.T.A. As a result of the experimental nature of H.O.B.T.A. it is advised that only one hub door is opened at a time. Any more than this may cause the A.I to malfunction.

H.O.B.T.A, the base's A.I., is charged with the day to day running of the base. Completing tasks ranging from the flood control system, to activating transport, through to monitoring the crew's health, H.O.B.T.A. is vital to the success of the base. There are four emergency protocols which can be activated by the highest ranked official within the base.

Location

Located off the coast of mainland Rusina, Stonelight is approximately 300m from the surface of the Rusinan Sea. To access the base, deep sea transports will depart from Western Asgareth at Port N.O.D.E, unsurprisngly operated by N.O.D.E. It is important to note, that whilst the ship departs from Asgareth, the Asgarthian government is not liable for any death or injury incurred as a result of the expedition. N.O.D.E. is a global private entity, and is solely in charge of the welfare of its crew.

• Sovereign Charter only. If you are not a member, you must join the region to participate.
• The Application Thread (OOC), will be opened on 7th January 2018, one week before the In-Character thread will open. The OOC thread will be closed to applications on 21st January 2018. When the In-Character thread is opened, the thread will be linked here.
• Players may have up to Two Characters.
• There is a fairly high chance characters will die. Please do not submit characters you are unwilling to lose.
• Applications must be submitted before you post.
• You must post at least Once a week minimum. Characters who are not used within a three week period will become NPC's, controlled by the GM.
• Your character(s) are protagonists. Sure, there can be conflict, but leave the evilness and malice to the GM.
• No auto-ing of either NPC's or other peoples characters. If there is a problem, I'll let you know.
• If you have any questions, please feel free to telegram Asgareth, or ask on Discord.

Gregorium is secretly the reason that Mr. Ares is focusing his efforts to time travel, he feels pity for the titan and wishes to stop himself from creating it, although he claims it to be his proudest creation and lies about his time traveling efforts being solely for the benefit of N.O.D.E.

Indeed, the only significant affects Zylah participated in where the uprising in Western Asgareth and guarding the coffin of Emperor Adran, two years ago. Bored in the Ground Forces, and desperately looking for a way out, Zylah was thrilled when N.O.D.E. offered a position on Stonelight. Zylah jumped at the chance to live up to the family name. With a particular interest in the fast travel sub, located in hub 4, Zylah hopes to be placed in charge of maintain the transports within the base.

During his time in the naval force, he was nicknamed "Iron Knuckles", due to the reputation that preceded him. Feared and respected by his men, Pefron enjoyed his time in the Naval Force. Hosting seven Imperial Ministers and Emperor Vilhem XIX, amongst numerous foreign dignitaries, Pefron gained international recognition after taking the bullet for a foreign dignitary. However, with age, Pefron has slipped from public consciousness, and is mostly forgotten about, much to his annoyance. Pefron served in the Naval Force for over twenty years, before retiring and joining the police force. Realising he preferred sea to land, Pefron began to look for new adventures. A brief stint with the coast guard told Pefron he wanted to head back out to sea. When N.O.D.E. opened applications, Pefron signed up immediately, and is pleased to be heading to sea again.

Serving under Viktor as a fellow mercenary, Hilda decided to tag along for the ride when he signed up for the expedition, she seeing him as something vaguely resembling a mentor.

Background: The Olwarnan family gained international fame, as a result of the efforts of the Olwarnan sisters, Petra and Ryla, during the Second Jaeger campaign. Since then, they have come to be known for numerous feats, their most recent coming from Petra and Ryla’s older brother, Pavori, who will be part of the crew of the Winter’s Aria. Zylah Olwarnan is the sixth and youngest child of the Olwarnan family. Strongly influenced by her brother Pavori, Zylah studied engineering at university. Unlike Pavori however, she then entered the ground forces, though did not see active duty abroad. Indeed, the only significant affects Zylah participated in where the uprising in Western Asgareth and guarding the coffin of Emperor Adran, two years ago. Bored in the Ground Forces, and desperately looking for a way out, Zylah was thrilled when N.O.D.E. offered a position on Stonelight. Zylah jumped at the chance to live up to the family name. With a particular interest in the fast travel sub, located in hub 4, Zylah hopes to be placed in charge of maintain the transports within the base.

Background: Born in Asgar, and the eldest son of a former Imperial Minister, Pefron surprised many of his teachers and family members when he chose to go into the naval force. Working his way up to Admiral of the Fourth Fleet, Pefron soon became renowned across Asgareth for his strategic brilliance, and charm. During his time in the naval force, he was nicknamed "Iron Knuckles", due to the reputation that preceded him. Feared and respected by his men, Pefron enjoyed his time in the Naval Force. Hosting seven Imperial Ministers and Emperor Vilhem XIX, amongst numerous foreign dignitaries, Pefron gained international recognition after taking the bullet for a foreign dignitary. However, with age, Pefron has slipped from public consciousness, and is mostly forgotten about, much to his annoyance. Pefron served in the Naval Force for over twenty years, before retiring and joining the police force. Realising he preferred sea to land, Pefron began to look for new adventures. A brief stint with the coast guard told Pefron he wanted to head back out to sea. When N.O.D.E. opened applications, Pefron signed up immediately, and is pleased to be heading to sea again.

GM Notices: Currently, character count stands at Ten. This is fantastic, and more than I anticipated (in a good way!) However, I do need to impose limits, so as to ensure the roleplay doesn't get too crowded.As a result, I can now only accept Two more characters. Nations that already have at least one character are, for the time being, prohibited from providing a second, following this post. This is on the off-chance another member of the Sovereign Charter still wishes to join. However, if no other nation appears forthcoming, then Kermouth and Haja-Mishu are more than welcome to apply for a second character. Either nation may send in applications from the 15th January. Please do not feel obliged to create a second character- but please know the option is still available. Background: Alexsandrya studied engineering at first as a combat engineer in the 41^st Combat Engineer Division. Served with 13^th Field Army under Gen. Kilane during Red Snow. Afterwards being discharged due to, quote "Mental instability" (Due to the witnessing squad-mates being crucified by unknown pale soldiers) she swiftly involved herself with more esoteric engineering projects across Iryllia, eventually going abroad and acquiring a rare Iryllian passport allowing her to work and travel abroad. Ending up in Asgareth she was headhunted for the N.O.D.E.: Stonelight Project as a junior engineer.

She is fluent(ish) in both Valari, Iryllian Gaelic and Rusinan Standard

Technically it's Asgareth, Myraxia (and most likely Valyrien soon) against Iryllia. But like all wars, the politicians argue, and the people are the ones that suffer. They could find some solidarity (unlikely, given it's Myraxia and Iryllia...). It'll go one of two ways. It's also important to remember that N.O.D.E. has very little to do with Asgareth, other than it's main port is based there. It's an international company.
Regarding traditions, I mean you're more than welcome to. I expect most won't because I get the feeling they're going to stay in the pub... cause Asgarthian/Valari.

Rvssyav has yet to reply to me, so I assume they have left the roleplay. Fortunately, he never technically arrived, so its easy enough to write him out- that is to say, I don't have to. But now we get onto the main roleplay, so please post frequently, and form plot lines with each other.
