Chapter one of the No Heroes series
'Cause they got methods of keepin' you clean
They gonna rip up your heads, your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me

Another superhero RP? Yeah. I was planning to leave the genre as an OP because of struggles getting what I wanted out of previous threads, but after studying the last thread, something made me decide to come back and try it out one more time. This thread is a bit different than my last one, however. This time, you're playing as the heroes. You're both the first and the last line of defense between other superhumans and the normal civilian populace, and you belong to a world famous organization known as the Guardians. This organization has branches in every country, but your specific role will take you to Japan, where the headquarters is based.
As a member of the Young Guardians, you have been selected as part of the next generation of heroes. You're still in training, but you're powerful enough that you've been removed from the general populace and taken to Japan to hone your skills further before joining the Guardians full time. Your characters will come from many different backgrounds and nations, and will have many different personalities, but one thing unites all of you: the fact that you have been chosen to protect the rest of the world from those who are like you. You'll be thrown right into the fire, and you'll fight a variety of enemies ranging from ordinary criminals to powerful superhumans.
The format of this RP is a bit different from the first one, too. While this is somewhat close to an academy RP, you aren't going to be at a normal school with classes. Instead, you'll do the majority of your learning in the field, as you travel the world and take care of threats as they appear. You'll work with senior heroes... But don't think that your actions aren't highly important in this story. Much of the story will be broken into field missions that can change the fate of the world depending on if you succeed or fail in them.
And yes, if you were wondering, this is both a soft reboot of Academy of Villains and We Are Young.
L O R E
In this universe, metahumans have existed in various forms since the 1990s. Government regulations would quickly arrive, dealing with the use of superhuman powers and what defines someone as metahuman. Superpowered vigilantism would appear across the world but many governments would punish it heavily. Restrictions on vigilantism are what led to the creation of the Guardians, an organization that would work with governments and law enforcement agencies to act as sanctioned crime fighters, who could also stand up to metahuman criminals. After beginning in the United States in 1996, the Guardians quickly expanded across the world and moved their headquarters to Saitama, Japan, with Japan being a nation that was notably friendlier to their interests.
The Young Guardians program began in 2011 to add to the future ranks of the Guardians. Increased crime and a small population of metahumans left the organization spread thin, and the Young Guardians program was created to train younger metahumans to eventually join the main force. Members of the Young Guardians live at the headquarters building in Saitama, and receive hands on instruction from senior members of the Guardians. They're recruited from all backgrounds and many members join for monetary reasons, without truly wanting to take a job with so many dangers and pressures from the public. Others have little choice in the matter and are forced into it by the authorities, because they are a danger to others if they do not learn to control their abilities.
The headquarters building itself is one of the more advanced and secure structures in the world, and has a large housing block next to the main spire that is famous worldwide. Members of the program will have everything that they need without leaving this building, as the housing block has a built in cafeteria and enough apartments for every student. The spire has other things that you may need, such as a technological workshop and an armory, and rooms for training and classes.

- OP decisions are final, and in the case of decisions when the OP isn't around, Co-OPs have final decision power.
- Please read On Realism and Survival before joining this RP. The post explains how the realism mechanics work, and how to create a character that won't quickly be killed off or seriously injured.
- There are no supernatural elements or alien life in this universe, keep that in mind when creating characters. Most of the time, you're humans that are... Well, a bit different than normal humans. Or modified from normal humans somehow. But there's no magic or other races per say.
- This is common sense to a lot of you, but DO NOT GODMOD. You cannot control other players' characters without their permission.
- Your character is not invincible. You might have superpowers, but that doesn't make you immune from harm. Powers like this will be rejected, also.
- As of now, you cannot play as a teacher/antagonist/other special character. This may change in the future, but this rule is in place now because of difficulty getting those types of characters involved with the main story of the RP, and the main group of players.
- Post length is relatively unimportant, but good grammar is expected, as well as formatting that isn't broken. That means using quotation marks correctly, not using a line for every sentence, not writing very long paragraphs with no breaks, and other things like this.
- Inactivity may result in your character being moved by the thread staff if you are in the way of advancing the plot or holding up interactions.
- Character balance is important. All major powers should have some kind of drawback. If one isn't there, your app may be rejected or edits may be suggested. An example of a good power is the ability to shoot lightning within a short range. An example of a bad power is the ability to shoot lightning at long range, with little to no cooldown. This also applies to skills. If you're going to add a bunch of skills, you should have a good amount of weaknesses, too.
