Greetings! Anterra, or Neu Anterra, is a roleplay region on the prowl for new and motivated roleplayers! Read below to see what Anterra is all about and how to get started and hop on our Discord Server to get a feel for things! Questions about the region posted to this thread will be answered to the best of our ability.
The Basics of Anterra:
- We are closed-world, meaning there are no in-character (IC) interactions with regions outside of Anterra and Anterra is its own universe.
- We are modern-tech, meaning the IC present day is set in the real world present day. Thus, technology used in the region may not exceed that which exist in real life. Past tech roleplays set in Anterra's history are acceptable, and encouraged, of course.
- Regional politics does not really come into play. All members are equals, and all members' ideas have equal weight. Everyone is excepted to be respectful and cooperate.
- We are not bloated. You won't be drowned out in noise.
- All discussion in Anterra happens on our Discord server. This is where members congregate, worldbuild and just chat. Please join our Discord to learn more and see the "Application Process" section to learn how to become a member!
What's Expected of Prospective Members:
- We look for roleplayers with a healthy imagination and a love for worldbuilding! Good writers and people will a good knowledge in a relevant area (such as politics, military technology, etc.) are preferred, writing samples are not necessarily required so long as a prospect proves themselves to be competent.
- While we know real-life priorities come first and stuff that prohibits activity comes up - believe us, we know - prospects will ideally be relatively active. This does not necessarily mean Pulitzer Prize winning news posts or a completed wiki article everyday, but at the very least consistent activity on our Discord is preferred.
- Above all, we look for respectful players who are willing to be collaborative in their writings and not go out of their way to create OOC drama. Collaboration is crucial in a worldbuilding region like Anterra and respect is paramount for a region like ours that is so heavily centered on informal chat and cooperation. Refer to the "rule of cool" as stated in the PMT Community Thread for a better idea of what this means:
The Macabees wrote:
- Collaborate: In PMT, the thread is all about the story. Your priority should be the plot, and making it interesting for both you, the other players, and the readers. You are, in essence, writing a collaborative novel with another player.
- Cooperate: Oftentimes players have conflicting ends. For the sake of the RP (and for the sake of this game being fun for all parties involved), it's important to compromise when deciding on outcomes. Your opponent may not want to lose the essence of his world in a war, and you should be ready to find a solution with that player if that goes against one of your goals. Finding common ground is usually imperative to success in a PMT RP.
- Consistent: As you develop rules that apply to your world — the rules you control —, you should apply these consistently. This applies both to your world and to how your world interacts with others'. A consistent world helps others stay involved in it, which helps to make your RPs stable and therefore more attractive.
- Be Creative: The best canon is your own canon. You'll find the most success by developing your own world, rather than taking it from another players' or from some other source (e.g. a novel or a movie). Of course, everyone has been influenced by something; ideas are rarely independent. But, your canon should have your own personal flavor, or its own identity in other terms.
Application Process:
Anterra does not have a strict or codified application process. We don't vote on applicants either. The way it works, prospective applicants hop on our Discord server and get to know the region and our people. If you're interested in joining, you can tell us your ideas for a nation and we can help you hash out those ideas and determine where you'd best fit in the region.
Once an idea for your nation is hashed out and you're ready to start worldbuilding, we'll add you to the map and you'll be given "Region Member" privileges on the Discord.
