James stormed out of the house, his hastily thrown together duffle bag in hand, bobbing by his side as he made his way down the steps to his car parked in the roundabout.

“James come back inside” His mother begged from the top of the stairs.

James spun around, his face twisted with rage. “I’m not going back into that house until he’s dead! He’s ruined us with his decisions and now he takes my business out from under me?"

“He’s just trying to protect the Fitzpatrick name, protect you!” his mother said as she looked down at her exacerbated child.

James looked at her with frustration, “Protecting the family name are you kidding me? That man just needed some more revenue to pay for his escorts and country club dues. I think he’s proven just what kind of businessman he is, and now he’s sabotaged my career too.” James responded as he threw his duffle bag into his car. He knew that would hurt his mother enough to silence her. It was viscous and she didn’t deserve it, god she of all people didn’t deserve it, but he knew if he came back inside he wouldn’t be able to leave again.

As he got into the car he looked up at his mother one last time, "The man can ruin his own life, but he's not taking me with him. He can have my company but it's cost him his son." He slammed the door shut before his mother could recover. The sound of the supercar tearing up the gravel road muffled his mother’s cries. A map of Olympus covered in various markings and annotations sat next to James as his home disappeared behind him.

Out of Character

This is a RP based on the travels of James Fitzpatrick (Jim at the time) across Olympus during his “drifter phase”. It takes place roughly 5-10 years ago weaving through several countries. The goal is to go beyond the nation-state and explore a countries history and culture. Finding fun ways for James to interact with the natives and show off the unique flavor of your nation. It can also allow you to point out the flaws in your society, where things are missed or forgotten about. Show your best and your worst and everything in between.

Keep in mind the cultural understandings that come with Jim and how they may differ from your own. James is a 22-year-old bi-sexual from Winst with a bit of a drinking/drug problem. What that will cause is an interesting point to consider as he enters your country.

If you have a character that you like or develop over the course of the trip traveling friends are welcomed to join on even if it’s only for a small amount of time. Just having people randomly pop up is not desired so discussing it with me beforehand is the way to go. The plan is to stay at most 2 weeks in a location but longer can be arranged if it seems like a lot of information wants to discuss or a good storyline is developing.

This is going to be a lot more of a pre-planned RP than most open style RPs so a lot of discussion of whats going to happen will probably be happening behind the RP.I have a few events I know I want to happen at certain points along the journey so flexibility is key. I will only take on one story at a time so that we can make it all the way through before starting a new one, but they do not have to follow a linear path and I'm happy to jump around back and forth throughout the timeline for different stories. I've included below a tentative plan of where Jim will be at different points it'll also serve as the table of contents to quickly navigate the story in a linear fashion.

Despite his abrupt departure, Jim had been preparing for this for quite some time. He hadn’t touched his noble stipend for the past 3 years, as a way to keep his company afloat if worse came to worse, and on top of that he had his salary and of course a generous severance package from his father all neatly deposited in Meronnian banks to avoid family law. If he lived frugally he could live off his saving for at least ten years. He looked back down at the map covered with his boyhood scribbles of a would be adventurer. It’s not like he hadn’t traveled but nothing this daring, only one hotel even had a four star status. He was going out to see the world not be cooped up in some fancy resort. He boyhood dreams flamed by the anger his parents would feel.

James entered the Courant quickly getting up to speed hearing the engine roar to life. The car was the first thing he had to get rid of, no point in letting the car sit around. Nostalgia set in as he weaved in and out of traffic enjoying the sound of the engine as he shifted the gears, this was the last piece of evidence of his company. He grabbed his phone dialing up his assistant.

“Hello there Mr. Fitzpatrick” an unfamiliar voice answered

“Who the hell are you?”

“Um, hmmm this is awkward…” The voice started “I’m uh your new assistant” the voice answered back sheepishly.

“What happened to Michelle?”

“Unfortunately Mr. Fitzpatrick, due to her experience with the rental service she has been tasked with working with your father.”

“For fucks sake is he sleeping with her too? Fucking typical.”

“Well sir I don’t really know about all that.”

“Well you do now. What’s your name.”

“Uh Vincent Sir Vincent Guillory.”

“Okay Vincent. You are probably going to get a call from my parents soon.”

“Oh?” Vincent replied

“Yeah they are probably going to fire you.”

“Oh” he replied again in a more somber tone.

“Luckily for you my parents can go fuck themselves. I’ll be paying you personally, Your first job is to find a dealership to sell my car to.”

“Um O… Okay… Where?”

“Meronnia.”
