Imperial Palace, Mauville
Aurimasse

The Imperial Palace was by far the largest and most opulent building in all of Mauville and probably all of Aurimasse. The country sat in a dense mountain region with most of its population in three valleys as well as their share of the Tuqos Valley which they shared with their much smaller neighbor of Bulvega. For most of its history it was a cripplingly poor war zone between several kingdoms with constant conflict due to a lack of resources. For the last sixty years, the region had been united by the warlord Cartéz and his dynasty. However, their rule had grown weak and despotic in the last decade, falling under the sway of the hated Bulvegese. But those days were over. There was no longer an emperor. Aurimasse was no longer an empire. The people would rule now, the Auriman would rule. Thirty-one days ago, the Auriman Kalakan Insurrectionary Front(AKIF) had brought down the government in a coordinated revolt across the country along with mass civilian protests. Within hours a civil war had broken out, with the Tugos and Astarn valleys still under Imperial control.

Bulavega

The Bulavega Palace stood in the capital, Vallacante. It wasn't the largest building, being dwarfed by the modern metropolis surrounding it. The government was still based there. For many years, the government was lead by General Firmin with an iron fist. But at the same time, Bulavega was very progressive. The ethnic majority, the Aurimans, were often treated equally to the ruling Bulavegese. There isn't discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, wage, social standing, or anything. The People had the freedom to do a lot of things they like. All except oppose the government.

When revolts sprung up in Aurimasse, the military was called into action. They first secured the Tuqos Valley, and are fighting in the Astarn. The government put many propaganda posters, shows and articles around the country in order to get support from the people. But they contained a common message. They all depicted the AKIF as wanting a fundamentalist tyranny by majority that oppresses or kills anyone that does not support that majority. All of this was true about the new Aurimasse. The government then focused their propaganda efforts on people in AKIF controlled territory. They dropped leaflets, put up radio broadcasts, and set up loudspeakers near the territory. The goal was to get the Bulavegese living there, and other ethnic minorities to rebel against the "oppressing Aurimans".

Commandant Mericien walked through the former Imperial Palace. Its beauty now burned away by the flame of revolution. The carpet had been partially torn apart and a large portion of the edifice blown off by an explosive charge as the AKIF first broke into the Palace. The place had been left in a hurry. The great portraits purchased from other countries had been cut and slashed to prevent the AKIF from selling them on the black market. Nonetheless, this now torn building was to be the temporary center of AKIF control. Mericien had personally led the attack team that broke into this building, he recalled as the bullets streaked above him, slamming into the wall and raining splinters upon his troops. Now, the city was at peace, at least for now. The AKIF had organized a State Council, to act a military junta running the country until the Kalakan State could be established. They had already passed dozens of decrees, to try and return Aurimasse to the way it was before the reforms imported from the Bulvegese devils. The country was to return to the ways of the old gods. The state was to become an extension of the religion, the People were to be elected by a Great Prophet chosen from among the masses by the Guardian Council of High Priests. The people would practice their faith loyally and bring up concerns to their local priests to bring to the government. That was the way it was before the Bulvegese invaded and stole their country from them.

All heretics and Bulvegese agents must be destroyed. The country would return to hundreds of small religious communities united under the Grand Prophet and Guardian Council. The Enlightened Prophet must listen to all the peoples’ grievances lest they lose the blessing of the gods. “But that was just a dream” the Commandant thought to himself, now was now. The Imperial infidels still held out, and they must be destroyed. He turned around a corner and strolled into the meeting room. It was full of clerics dressed as he was, wearing a white cape-like sheet with several colored and patterned ribbons and a few in the more typical fatigues and mask.
“Well, my friends, we must now move against these infidels. I dream of the day our country, the world, shall be free of them. I will personally lead 20,000 fighters with technicals and some of the captured armor pieces to move against the Astarn valley from the South. I need another commander to move into the valley from the North as a diversion. There will likely be heavy street fighting”
One of the High Priests, and aging man with a wispy mustache wearing a particularly large amount of ribbons turned towards Mericien, “Oh warrior of the faith, you know only of this war, you only see to this horizon. But, we must look further, to Bulavega. We must destroy the infidels in their home base, we must bring the fight to that hell on earth itself. Do not move on the valley, those heretics can rot there, no. Move your army of the faithful, with the Blessing of Tur, across the borders of the Hell-land. Lead your troops into those heathen lands, and make contact with the faithful there, and destroy the demons!” The aging cleric then slumped back into his chair and began smoking a ceremonial pipe.
“As you wish, your holiness. I will lead the Army of the Faithful into Bulavegese territory to free the faithful there from their infidel lords” responded Mericien.

General Joubert walks into Firman's room.

Firman: "Who is this. Unless this is important, I don't have any time for this."

Joubert: "Sir, I have important news about Aurimasse and the AKIF."

Firman: "What is the news? Did we win another battle? Did we capture another city? Did we capture a large amount of AKIF soldiers? Did Aurimasse's government made another stupid mistake and were saved by us?"

Joubert: "Sir, no-"

Firman: "Did they surrender? Were they captured and executed?"

Joubert: "sighs Sir Mauville was captured by AKIF. And so were several Auriman officials and Lachance."

Firman: "laughs Nice one. Any more good jokes?"

Joubert: "Sir, this isn't a joke. Mauville was captured by the AKIF."

Firman: "laughs Ah, please tell me how they can possibly get past our invincible army."

Joubert: "The last thing Lachance said was that there were too many to deal with, and he wanted to withdraw, but the Auriman officials were too overconfident."

Firman: "Ah, they couldn't possibly get through! Our army is the best in the region! No one can defeat us! How can anybody get past our superior weapons, troops, or tactics? They can't. When was the last time we lost a war? Look Aurimasse is in chaos. The people understand our army will restore order! We have their support! Barely anyone is part of the AKIF!"

Joubert: "Sir please stop. Mauville was captured. Thanks to the incompetence of the Auriman officials. I'm sure the AKIF would've been fought off if Lachance was in charge of defending the city."

Firman: "laughs But he commanded an entire division! He could've easily won!"

Joubert: "Sir. His division was confined to a single location. The enemies came from everywhere."

Firman: "You imply that there are that many AKIF fighters to begin with."

Joubert: "Sir, stop with your arrogance. Mauville was attacked and captured. Instead of saying how it is impossible, try to plan a recapture."

Firman: "Well we lost fifteen thousand soldiers in that attack. They will need to be rescued first. I want intelligence on where the prison is!"

Joubert: "sigh Yessir. I will see what we have."

The halls of the foreign ministry were once again alight with the buzz of a foreign crisis. It appeared to be as of in the movies, with papers accidentally flying after being pushed off the desks, men in suits of various colors making phone calls on red phones, near utter bureaucratic chaos. Things were especially tense since the last foreign conflict the ministry had dug it's nose into. Just under two thousand of the Saxon expeditionary force died in the nuclear blast following the liberation of Argolistan, and nobody was interested in seeing more. And yet, this matter was pressing. The Saxon state's bureaucracy was always hungry for more ways to soak up money to pay for it's elaborate projects, more economic partnerships to flood the wealthy population's markets with foreign goods. It should also be said, however, that this was not always the reasoning for intervention. A sense of pride was put into the nation's influence upon others. One might say ever since the inheritance of the title of Holy Roman Emperor in the mid-1800's, the Saxon government took great care to keep up her meddling in other countries. And, usually, it was for a general good. Saxony was seen as a bastion of western liberal values all around the world, a great beacon for a superior culture of thought and governing.

Well, with all that being said, the ministry at the end of the day had compiled their intelligence upon what the situation of the area was, and they were not happy. Both sides had a somewhat aggressive role to play in the war. The Bulavegans had intervened in attempt to secure more land in Aurimasse, a thing only to lead to local resentment and more violence. On the other hand, Aurimasse was a religious state that was incredibly oppressive, and they had the specific and unabashed goal of attempting to take over Bulavega. It was found to be in the best interest of the state to slightly favor Bulavega, to try and stabilize their political situation from internal rebellion from radicals who believe in Aurimasse's religious state, or, some more cooperative, ones who wished for a democratic government. But these rebels could be reasoned with, the conflict over if those rebels would have a nation to rise up against, that was more important at the moment, but still should be considered in operations.

With such conclusion, the foreign ministry received the approval to set in their initial response plan to deal with the situation until it developed. (1), A complete and public condemnation of any military aggression between the two nations, with the royalist-radical civil war in Aurimasse being their own issue and not that of an opportunity for Bulavega's expansion, but also the Aurimasse intent to conquer the sovereign state of Bulavega as completely unlawful and invalid. (2) The establishing of Saxony-Brandenburg as (currently) neutral in the conflict, unless either side would be willing to cease all attempts of expansion or forced political change with the other, and can definitely act upon such. (3) Diplomats being sent to the Bulavegan government requesting they hold talks with the Bulavegan rebel government in exile, hosted in Dresden, and a public declaration of peaceful intent, this war being a wholly defensive war, and a promise to not annex land unless supervised by an international committee. (4) Diplomats to be sent to the Bulavegan rebel government in exile requesting they be brought to the bargaining table in attempts to prevent civil war. (5) Neutral observers of the Bulavegan-Aurimasse war to give objective truth as to which side is the clear aggressor and defender, ensure each is cooperating with international law, and conduct reports on casualties, collateral damage, and the state of the war. As a side mission, observers will also be sent to assess the political state of rebel factions among the Bulavegan citizens. Finally, (6) A demand that Aurimasse immediately ceases all intent to move into the sovereign state of Bulavega, and declares that her civil war is only constrained inside her borders, or face immediate retaliation by the international community.

ANS Al Muwaylih as part of the Marine Strike Support Fleet off the northern coast of Aurimasse.

The 1st Marine Strike Brigade was one of a handful of 'quick response' units in the Al Hasak Military. Prepped and ready at all times to deploy nigh-on anywhere in the world, it did not come as a shock when the Marines were informed of their next deployment, to assist the independence movement that had attempted to seize power in Aurimasse. The interests of the Al Hasak government in Aurimasse were not the concern of the Marines, whose job it was to carry out the orders they were given rather than question them. That job would be dutifully undertaken by the opposition parties. It was the President's policy to intervene in countries, nominally to keep the peace and ensure that humanitarian aid was given where needed. In reality, this constituted playing a hand in revolutions or uprisings in order to gain favour with and shape the new government. A vanilla government, that owed Al Hasakah a debt, was a powerful tool indeed.

Within days of the AKIF uprising, the Al Hasak government had settled on dispatching the 1st Marine Strike Brigade, comprising 1900 troops and additional vehicles and artillery, to the country. Setting sail on the Marine Strike Support Fleet and logistically supported by auxiliary elements of the Navy, the force would proceed to the northern shores of Aurimasse and make a landing there, before proceeding inland to aid in the capture and securing of major Auriman cities. What Al Hasak Marines lost in enthusiasm or devotion to the AKIF fighters, they more than made up for in their superior training and likely also experience. Veterans of interventions of this very nature, peacekeeping operations, and complex multinational operations such as anti-piracy patrols, Al Hasak Marines typically came with the big guns and knew how to use them.

Lieutenant Commander Mohamed El-Gouna, Al Hasak Navy
Al Hasak men often made great soldiers, but the sea was not yet a domain they had mastered. Due to the warm climate of Al Hasakah, the great deserts and roaming climbs, Al Hasak sailors consistently failed to adjust to the icy cold winds of the open sea. Stood on the bridge of the ANS Al Muwaylih, an Iwo Jima-class amphibious assault ship, El-Gouna contemplated this stereotype. Himself a former mechanical engineer, El-Gouna had joined the Al Hasak Navy officer corps on a scholarship. Working the in the engineering departments of various ships of the fleet, El-Gouna had eventually decided to retrain as an Artillery Observer for the navy, operating on the ground to direct naval support with precision. This role more generally included naval aircraft too, and often meant combining the work of forward air controllers.

El-Gouna enjoyed the work, and often it was not that dangerous or put him too far in harm’s way, as he was typically embedded with a platoon of Marines and rarely ventured right onto the front lines. Stood on the bridge at the head of the Marine Strike Support Fleet was a place not alien to him. As a relatively senior officer, he often served in a support and advisory role to other senior officers when he was not to be deployed. This time, El-Gouna wouldn’t be deploying in his role but would rather help to coordinate, logistically, the landing efforts. He observed from the bridge some of the other ships of the fleet, including the ANS Tiran and the ANS Sanafir, both Austin-class amphibious transport docks, carrying the bulk of the 1st Marine Strike Brigade. The Al Muwaylih itself was home to B Company of the Special Observer Battalion, an elite unit of the army, as well as most of the mission’s air support.

Receiving a salute from a seaman entering the bridge, El-Gouna descended the steps of the control tower and onto the flight deck, hanging around the door briefly as he adjusted to the cold breeze and the light spray from the sizable waves. He looked around at the fleet and could see in the distance the landmass of Aurimasse, today’s country-in-need. On the bridge, it was estimated that they were roughly 12 nautical miles out. A small number of frigates and other vessels were attached to the fleet, but it was by no means designed for naval combat, rather it existed to ensure the smoothest transition for a Strike Brigade from transport mode to combat mode.

AKIF had confirmed their arrival, at a small village with a rudimentary dock just south along the coast from Mauville. Use of the beaches would be necessary, and naval engineers would be working to improve the facilities following the landing, particularly for logistical reasons. El-Gouna had enough of the sea air and proceeded below deck to his cabin to kit himself out for the landing, as he’d be one of the first on the ground alongside the Special Observer Battalion. Following landing in helicopters, the first objective would be to rendezvous with the local AKIF forces, secure the site for the Strike Brigade to land, and at that point in time elements of the Special Observer Battalion would be setting off to Mauville, the AKIF capital, to coordinate a plan of action with their commanders. As had been discussed by senior officers on the Al Muwaylih, the most likely movement of the Strike Brigade would be through the central mountain pass, into the valley and to help AKIF forces liberate settlements from government troops, particularly cities.

With the helicopters to deploy from the Al Muwaylih at 5 miles out, El-Gouna hurriedly changed out of the naval officer’s working rig and into the woodland fatigues of an Al Hasak Marine. He strapped on the sand-coloured light body armour and picked up his bergan, packed with kit to make somewhere for him to sleep tonight. He affixed his helmet and proceeded on to the ship armoury, where he checked out a FASRA-72 assault rifle, and an Mle 1985 semi-automatic pistol. A bullpup rifle, with 25-round magazines, El-Gouna made sure to check out three additional magazines, packing one into his bergan and two others onto his combat rig. They were not yet aware of what challenged they may or may not face in the LZ. Proceeding from the armoury back up to the flight deck, El-Gouna met up with Commander Fadl, of the navy, who was to be in charge of the entire LZ operations. El-Gouna had been delegated security duties initially, and would then help to set up a temporary logistics base.

After a few minutes of waiting, the order came to mount up in the helicopters. Strapping into a transport ‘copter, El-Gouna took his place next to Fadl but was surrounded by the grizzled soldiers of the Special Observer Battalion. Their one purpose was to execute their missions with ruthless efficiency, although their number was small and budget cuts had threatened their outfit entirely. Aurimasse may be the chance they needed to prove to the politicians their value. El-Gouna took comfort in how safe he would be in their hands, before realising that in fact, following the SOB may just get him into more danger. Flight deck personnel closed the helicopter doors and waved the signal for take-off. As the other helicopters began taking off, the pilot shouted “Here we go!”, flicked on the appropriate lights and described his actions over the radio to the control tower on the Al Muwaylih. As the rotors spun and the helicopter gained altitude, El-Gouna thought to himself: “Here we go indeed.”

FIAF-HQ Building, [REDACTED]
Furby Island

When news reached the Furbish Military, the FIAF-JCOM sprang into action. The government and Ministry of Defense have ordered an intervention in a war between two nations, Bulavega and Aurimasse. Aurimasse is a client state of Bulavega, but a group, called the AKIF, took over large swaths of land from Aurimasse. Bulavega is supporting the Aurimasse government, hoping to return to the status quo. Bulavega is a dictatorship ruled by an ethnic minority, but is socially progressive. The AKIF wants a fundamentalist theocratic democracy, ruled by a tyranny by majority. Bulavega is rumored to have chemical weapons, and possibly are beginning a nuclear program.

The main belligerents at the Bulavega and Aurimasse governments, fighting against the AKIF. But there is also the Bulavega Democratic Front. They wanted to overthrow Bulavega's government and establish a democracy. They have claimed to have thousands of supporters, but rebelling for them will be suicidal, even with much of Bulavega's army fighting in Aurimasse.

The Furbish government have decided to not support the AKIF. They have decided on a goal of transforming the Bulavegese government into a democracy, and doing the same with Aurimasse's government after the AKIF is destroyed. Most disagreements arose about when the shift should take place. Some wanted to destroy the BDF and slowly transform Bulavega's government after the war, while others wanted a quick revolt by the BDF, and then regroup the armed forces to fight off the AKIF.

Eventually a compromise was reached. If the BDF lead a coup d'etat, that will create a power vacuum in Bulavega, and the AKIF were now free to take over the entire region. If the BDF was crushed, it will more likely happen brutally, which is against the wishes of the government. Instead, they will try to stop the BDF revolts by having Bulavega's government promise to make reforms. At the same time, a brigade will be sent to help fight the AKIF. The 91st Bergbeklimmerinfanterie, which contains about 6000 soldiers, will be sent to the region, along with many mules to carry supplies.

FIAF-JCOM have been told to work out the logistics, and then transport the troops to Bulavega.

Dresden, Saxony-Brandenburg

The introduction of foreign powers forced the hand of the Saxon government to become a much more active force in the Conflict. Not wishing to compromise on their foreign policy plan however, they decide to take a diplomatic approach to handling the countries taking sides in the war. If this is to expand forther than the conflict nation's borders, it would be considered a grave failure for the government. The department of foreign relations decides, in cooperation with the war department, to make a public declaration with one party, and send a private message to the other. It was also clear, however, that the war would demand more recources from the parties, and the office prepared a future third private message for the government of Bulavega to offer a chance at an arms deal. Such they hoped would accomplish two goals. One, benefit the Saxon arms industry and manufacturing industry by the profitable exchange of arms in return of raw materials like oil. The second, more pertaining to the conflict, was to boost the war effectiveness of the Bulavegan government. But it would come with needed promisses as well.

The press secretary of the foreign relations department stepped out on the steps of the ministry infront of a small crowd of reporters, beaurocrats, and onlookers. It was a slightly windy and dreary day, but the chance of rain had been negligible enough to have the briefing outside. As is custom among Saxon officials, he wore almost entirely black, the rule only broken by his undershit and tie. Leaning on the podium infront of him, he addressed the cameras, but most importantly, the nation of Al-Hasakah.
"To those who have begun to and are aspiring to support the militant regime of the AKIF. We make it clear to those who support such a totalitarian state directly and indirectly, to consider their choice of action. We make it clear, that any support of the AKIF in any capacity to wage war on the sovereign state of Bulavega, is in effect enemies by association of peace. Of peace, stability, and an avoidance of the slaughter of Innocents. The goal of the Saxon government is, indeed, the promotion of peace and stability of the region. And we will persue a policy of encouraging other nations to do the same. We will of course expect such not just from countries we condemn, and the supporters of such, but from our allies aswell. Keeping such in mind, we require the current nation's supporting the military capacity of the AKIF to wage war on the sovereign and liberal state of Bulavega, to reverse such activities immediately, and publicly condemn the invasion of such state. A deadline of two weeks will be set, and if such does not happen, there will be diplomatic reprucussions, aswell as immediate reprucussions for those who support such illegal moves after this warning has been given. We implore our allies to persue a peacekeeping strategy, and not reward any state with land or client state overlordship, and persue a war effort that is in compliance with international law and attempts to limit collateral damage to civilians on either side. Thank you."

And with that, he turns to leave before questions could be asked, many members of the ministry itself unsure if they wholly could answer any sort of pressing questions on the matter. But this was now he established policy. And, as is true for the Saxon government for all matters, policy would be followed strictly and to the T.

Next came the message to the Furbish. "To the most serene of nations, the Furbish islands- it has become clear your actions in this war have been those of significant potential to cooperate with our own, and we would wish to know if our nation's could more effectively do such. We would like to offer you to join a coalition of governments fighting to end this war conducted along international regulation, a joint diplomatic move to embargo the enemies of the sovereign state of Bulavega until their efforts end, and establish regional stability. Best regards,
-He, Friederich von Kurstein,
Duke of Östpommern and first foreign minister of Saxony-Brandenburg.

Near Bulavega
International Waters

Several large ships moved through the waters. The ships carried the 91st Bergbeklimmerintanterie, or 91st Brigade. It is one of the six mountain brigades, and it is sent to deal with the war. Their goal was simple: neutralize the AKIF. They hoped to peacefully negotiate with the BDF, and also to reform Bulavega's government. The AKIF is a guerilla force, and is very decentralized. The only way to effectively deal with them is to take their strongholds and then pursue them in the mountains. But if they get defeated, they will regroup and strike somewhere else.

Brigadier General Duke Phillip Kieffer, who commanded the 91st Brigade, stood on the deck of one of the large ships. He has heard a lot about the war, like all generals, ever since it started. He looked at all tactical mistakes made by both sides. The Auriman units were very incompetent. They didn't go without a fight, but under poor leadership, their units fell quickly against smaller AKIF groups. He has predicted that if the incompetence continues, Mauville will fall before his force gets to Bulavega. And sure enough, it did.

At noon, the ships docked. It didn't have much ships, just some troop and cargo transports along with escorts. The troops were ordered to stay in the ships until further orders. Duke Kieffer, along with the brigade's XO, Colonel Marquess Alfons Katzenbach, and NCO, Chief Sergeant Major Baron Fabian Schützenberger, and a small group of soldiers went to talk to Firman. When they entered the building, they were met by Firman, and his top general, Joubert.

General Joubert: "Good afternoon. I'm glad you have made it here."

Duke Kieffer: "Good day. As you know, I have come with 6000 soldiers under my command. We-"

General Firman: laughs "You imply that we need help. We're doing fine already!"

General Joubert: "Sir please. We need all the help we can get at this point."

General Firman: laughs "I'm sure they're more incompetent than Aurimasse! They probably won't be able to defend a patch of sand against a squid!"

Marquess Katzenbach: rolls eyes

Duke Kieffer: "Sir, I assure you we have some of the finest mountaineers, we are ready to take on the AKIF."

General Firman: "Aurimasse said the same thing, and lost Mauville. How can we be sure you won't do the same?"

Marquess Katzenback: to Duke Kieffer "Honestly do you think we should deal with him? He seems worse than Gaddafi."

Duke Kieffer: to Marquess Katzenbach "Trust me, I think I got it." to General Firman "Mauville was lost due to Aurimasse's incompetence and refusal to get help when they could have. If-"

General Firman: "We had sent a division to protect Mauville! It couldn't possibly fa-"

Duke Kieffer: "A division may have helped, but if the division was placed in one location, the AKIF could've attacked from a different place."

General Firman: "I do not care at this point. Leave now!"

General Joubert: "Sir, maybe you can at least send them to help the Aurimans. If you say they're so incompetent, you have nothing to lose."

General Firman: "Fine. Maybe you can recapture the capital. Can you show them where the Auriman force is at?"

General Joubert: points at a map "Right over here. I'd recommend going by..."

Ghast, capital city of the Cabickstani Empire

There sat Ghast, an open capital that hadn't seen any or very little political happenings. Cabickstan, had once again drawn itself into isolationism. The nation hadn't been involved in any international incidents or affairs in over twenty five years, after the death of the previous Kaiser, Cabickstan had become much more drawn into itself, socially and politically, and maybe for good reason. It's conquests had garnered much backlash from the international community in previous conflicts. This new Kaiser, was much more conservative, he still had the support of the Cabickstani Congress, but even they were starting to override him, wanting to end the isolationism that had gripped the nation in the past decades.

Wilhulf wasn't anything like his uncle, who had died just 5 years before, but abdicated over twenty years ago from the throne. When that happened everything was drained from the country. Many had felt Cabickstan lost its national identity, their strong leader was now gone and in came his nephew who wasn't interested in monarchy, much less managing a vast empire. The once proud Imperial army now sat idle, much of its military equipment a decade outdated, once one of the most battle hardened trained militaries, was now just a governing force, just guarding from foreign invasion and control over the colonies.

Wilhulf didn't have the pride in the military like his uncle had, everything had drained out of the military when his uncle became too ill to attend the state parades, some Congress members had even questioned if Cabickstan was even a world contender any longer. Wilhulf was more interested in domestic issues anyway than if Cabickstan's military could still perform as well as it had decades before. The IIO, the Imperial Intelligence Organization was still busy at work though.

Cabicktsan was still imperialistic nonetheless, even with its growing isolationist sentiments from the people and the government. The IIO had introduced a new operation to fund rebels that appeared to oppose the Cabickstani government, or any group that supported imperialism of any kind. Wilhulf amazingly had no involvement in these operations, he had no knowledge of the backdoor operations that the IIO was participating in. Or the fact that the Cabickstani congress had approved a bill which allocated a funding of more than 500 billion Cinoes to the IIO. Wilhulf regarded the IIO as just a useless shadow group run by a bunch of kooks that his uncle had created thirty years ago to help keep the colonies in check.

The IIO received a packet dossier on their desks containing pages and pages of intelligence on a nation called Aurimasse that was under high priority. The Imperial government there had been overthrown by rebels. Cabickstan had once been in diplomatic contact with the old Imperial government of Aurimasse and the Imperial Congress once considered them a Cabickstani satellite, with also constant meddling from Bulvega for influence, another country that was on the IIO's watch. The IIO couldn't allow the rightful government of Aurimasse to be overthrown so easily.

Grenesvara, Capital City of the Ordocravian Empire

A city built around the mountains of Ordocravia, the only, in fact mountains Of Ordocravia. On the top of the mountains sat the Imperial palace, Overlooking the land and seas of Ordocravia ever since it's construction, some six hundred years ago. Ordocravia itself, being one of the longest lasting Empires in it's region saw the rise and fall of many promising Empires, and had decided to help it's ideological brethren in times of need. This time was one of them; Aurimasse was infected with the Virus of Revolution, the time for war come closer by the second.

General Counsil, Grenesvara

The General counsil was the place were decisions about war were made, the place was almost always full with high-ranking and low-ranking officers alike, this wasn't one of those times. The Supreme counsil was the only ones there.

Supreme General Pegorpax Matenvonis: " So, have you heard the news? Aurimasse is in ruins"

Supreme General and Prince Pasagne Ermecorroge: " So what? What are you Implying, Pegorpax?"

Pegorpax: "What I AM implying, Prince, is that we ought to assist them"

Pasagne: " And Why's that?"

Supreme General Strovellus Agreffe: " You would know If you weren't so drawn in to the matter of wasting resources in pointlesly purging the savages up north, Prince "

Pegorpax: " I agree with Strovellus, but just to 'refresh' your memory, since we ain't getting nowhere with this, is that in times of need, Constitutional Law abides us to assist failling Imperiums"

Pasagne: "Tch, So that's what the Ordeal's about, huh? A measly Empire somewhere insignificant is failing and it needs us to save it, right?"

Strovellus: "Firstly, you uneducated brat, this Empire is in an Important location which could benefit us if we manage to get their favour, secondly, It won't be that simple, From what I've heard the number of the Rebel forces is enormous, this isn't going to be a stroll in the park, so do not expect it to be one"

Pegorpax: " It is going to be a costly campaign and we need Imperial agreement to this"

Pasagne: " So what you're Implying, Pegorpax, is that I need to appease my Father to approve of this Ludicrous campaign proposal?"

Pegorpax: "You could phrase it like that, yes"

Pasagne: "*Chuckles* Tch, alright then men, we're going to war!"

The Prince exclaimed as he left to meet with his Father, the Emperor Rethovus Samnimus

AKIF Prison
Aurimasse

The prison was a large building nestled in the mountains. It was a large building, and contained many prisoners captured by the AKIF in their conquests of Aurimasse. The building was only guarded by 2000 soldiers, who positioned themselves on nearby mountains ready to snipe or charge at incoming enemies. There are also countless landmines on the slopes. Since the capture of Mauville, the defenders knew there was going to be an attack to rescue the soldiers in the prison, and they were prepared.

General Abascal was tasked with capturing the prison, or at least freeing the captives inside. He had an entire division at his command. He outnumbered the defenders about eight to one, and thought that nothing can possibly go wrong. His division was also accompanied by several Bulavegese military advisers. They had come with a plan that was made by Bulavega's top general, Joubert. His plan had very little that can go wrong, and wasn't very complex.

However, Abascal refused to go with the plan. He believed his division is powerful enough on its own, and didn't need help from some foreign advisers. No matter how much the advisers implored him, he didn't budge. He would use his own plan, which was very flawed. He tried convincing the advisers that it would work, and that if it failed his numbers would make up for it. But the advisers saw the flaws in the plan quickly. Abascal decided he would stick with his plan, and not listen to anything the advisers had to say.

Abascal's plan would have the soldiers attack at the afternoon. All the soldiers would attack the prison from all sides, and when the overpower the defenders, they'll charge into the prison. To him the plan seemed like it won't fail. Before the attack, the advisers tried one last time to convince Abascal the flaws of his plan. They failed once again. The soldiers went into their positions, and at two o'clock, they were ordered to charge.

There was little resistance at first. Abascal went over to the Bulavegese advisers to say he was right. But when the soldiers reached the top half of the mountain, landmines began blowing them up en masse. However, Abascal didn't care, thinking he still had quite a lot of troops. But his mistake was to spread out his troops. Instead of activating a few landmines in one location in the mountains, they activated all landmines placed on the slopes.

When the troops climbed three quarters of the mountains, AKIF fighters sprang into action. Snipers shot from a distance. Others moved down to meet them. The Auriman division was spread out, and so were the AKIF. By the time they reached the top of the mountain, much of the Auriman force was dead or wounded. All the soldiers were exhausted, and the officers wanted to rest. Abascal said no, and ordered them to continue. He said whoever disobeyed him will be shot.

As they began the descent, more landmines killed even more soldiers. AKIF soldiers, snipers, and artillery picked off groups of the Aurimans. In several places, all soldiers were wiped out. In those places, soldiers moved back up and charged at the Aurimans below. Abascal didn't care however. It was night by the time the soldiers reached halfway down the mountains, but Abascal ordered them to continue their advance. He was convinced once they reached the bottom, they would capture the prison.

Only a quarter of the soldiers ended up reaching the bottom. Many were killed, wounded, deserted, or collapsed due to exhaustion. The soldiers and officers that reached the bottom were demoralized and exausted. Some surrendered to the AKIF soldiers when they reached the botton, and the rest were wiped out quickly.

Abascal war outraged. He wanted to get revenge on the soldiers that surrendered. He, the command company, and the Bulavegese advisers, were ambushed by a small force of AKIF soldiers looking for prisoners. They were all thrown into the prison, and so were all other soldiers found. The attempt to rescue soldiers in the prison ended up wiping out another division.

Inspector Benjamin Feichín Friel was in the TAC office onboard the VMV Dunkirk reviewing the map of the area of battle. The only entry point for an amphibious landing was through a tight river into the lake but if the expedition force was going to link up with the legitimate government of Aurimasse's forces its what was the only way into the area. The real issue was that the opening was heavily controlled by the Bulavega and could mistake The Vitamian's as enemy combatants. A diplomatic corps was sent to the Bulavega to make it clear that the Imperial Republic was fighting to restore the Aurimasse monarchy and not invade them, but who knows if they had backed it. The Specialist officers in charge of the marines and the Fleet commander arrived at the office and took their seats. The inspector went ahead in explaining the plan starting with the navel movement with attack vessels bringing the front to keep any threat out of the way while troop carriers stay in the back and have an opening to retreat. Once in the lake area, the attack vessels will take position along the north-west where the rebels and government forces are battling and commence a shoreline bombardment on rebel positions. The Troop carriers will then move up to the beachhead in a tight formation unloading the Marines and tanks. The tanks would take the front with regular Marines behind in a spearhead formation. Once the rebel position is pierced, the Marines will break and flank around to surround the enemy with only one way out, up north to their territory. Once that's has been done the beachhead should be secured and its just a matter of linking with the government's forces and working from there.

International Waters

A mere two days after the Supreme General meeting and the Emperor had approved, the Ordocravian Imperial Fleet immediately head out to Aurimasse. With them were a large amount of Cargo ships, containing Tanks, AFV's, SPG's and other kinds of armor. Some ships were dedicated to housing the large Land force the Emperor had brought with him, and four Dreadnoughts, Including the Imperial Capital Ship which was leading the fleet.

Imperial Capital Ship

The Imperial capital ship, an Enormous fifty year-old Dreadnought, modernised and retrofitted time and time again, had become a national symbol by that point, and it also provided morale to the troops. It's latest armament was a Thermonuclear Missile, in case things got hopeless. But it wouldn't come to that, that was sure.
Inside the ship, the Supreme Generals and the Emperor himself were discussing battle stategies, Geographical positions for preparations of future battles, Military Doctrine and Resource distribution alongside with information on the Enemy forces, the Friendly forces, their officials , numbers and Morale, for future negotiations and also understanding of the Allied forces.

The Emperor was quite confident that the war, with Ordocravian aid would be over in less than a week, some of his Supreme generals doubted this, as the reports they have seen about the enemy were quite frightening. But they too, believed that the War would be won. For the sake of the Ideology, Fatherland and Benefit, It had to be won, there was no Alternative.

Meanwhile,

During the time the Main forces were still way offshore, the Bulk of the Airforce had already started operating, though in short, swift blows. It would bomb AKIF positions in the battlefield when given the Chance, and it would scout the mainland for possible AKIF storngholds and major Forces marching and Report back to Bulavegan and Monarchist authorities for battle preparation, the moment the Main Force lands on the island, the airforce is to attack and bomb the entire landing area and attack the enemy from all sides to cover the safe transfer of the Troops to Friendly territory and the Ships to Friendly waters, it believed by Army officials to be the spectacle of the year.

Wilhulf might have just been a puppet of the Imperial ideology of Cabickstan ; a weak monarch with no stomach for war or diplomacy, but he still understood what was happening with Cabickstan and the backdoor dealings of the Congress or the military directory. The IIO had been effectively running Cabickstan with the help of the directory. They were putting fear into any country or colony that opposed the name of the Empire, and the illegitimate government of Aurimasse was next on the list of targets. Any nation that opposed Cabicktstan's name or stood in the way of its Imperial ideology could expect Imperial troops on their doorstep.

Unknown to Wilhulf, the IIO had been in secret talks with the military for a full military intervention in Aurimasse, something Cabickstan had not participated in for over two decades. The IIO allocated the funds for a naval squadron and an entire division of Imperial troops. They could not hide the operation from the Kaiser any longer. He was furious.

Wilhulf stood there in front of the large multi paneled window in his office, above him portraits of his uncle and the founding father of Cabickstan. A vein piercing from his neck not grasping of what had been going on in the shadows of the government. He was being left out, he knew now he was just a figurehead. He now fully grasped it, and looked with beady, penetrating eyes to the members of the IIO. He grabbed multiple documents on Aurimasse and rolled them up into his hands and clenched them with a closed fist.

He pointed the rolled up papers at each of the five members that stood before his large wooden desk. "No, no.. no"! He shouted as he pointed the paper at the last director. "You.. expect me to now be on board for an operation that went behind my back, for months.. almost a year.. My grandfather did not give his life for this country for me to not know what is happening in my own fatherland" ! Wilhulf shouted as he sat back down, the only light in the room coming from the window, and even then the room was still dimly lit. One of the IIO members spoke up. "We can't go ahead with the operation without your backing, the population will know about this operation, we need support from the people-

He was then sharply interrupted by Wilhulf. "Oh please, spare me the Freud". "You have gone behind the back of not only your Kaiser but of all the people in this country, and now you want me to put my fragile little stamp of approval on your little war. You men should've been executed by now, god knows how much you men have been talking of a coup with the directory, please". Wilhulf wasn't interested, taking another sip of his scotch. "I am not in it for the glory sirs, I am not my uncle. You can have your little war, I, and only I will stand before the palace, and allow thousands of our boys to be shipped off to a far away unknown land, dying for something they don't believe in or have little understanding of. My uncle may have thanked you, but I will spit on this war until you have overthrown me".

Wilhulf and the IIO members then discussed the logistics, the geography of Aurimasse, and that the AKIF were seen as a national threat. "This, will be a short war. Wilhulf said as he took off his glasses, rubbing his forehead. "I will decide the time table on your crusade, these are my men, my ships, and yes, this country may still belong to my uncle, but I am the Kaiser now".

The stage was set. Wilhulf reluctantly agreed to back the intervention to the Cabickstani people, under the guise that the AKIF were anti Imperialist terrorists hell bent on overthrowing monarchies. He had requested the 2nd Kommando Division be called up, one of the Imperial Army's most elite units. On the hand, a massive fleet of Imperial warships would head for Aurimasse, this fleet would dictate the war, as the Cabickstani sleeping giant had been awakened once more, maybe proving itself to no longer be the sick man it had been for decades.

It has been two days since the Imperial fleet was stuck outside the narrow passageway to the Inner Gulf of Aurimasse, they were not permitted to enter by the Bulavegan Coastal Guard or whoever there was guarding the passageway, the days went by and the Emperor's patience grew thinner. He finally got to his boiling point and demanded immediate entry, which again got rejected and got blown out of proportion into a literal Word fight between the Emperor and the Person in charge of the Coastal guard , meanwhile the Air force was called to inform the Bulavegan Authorities before the Emperor did something insane.

During that time Pegorpax and the Prince were inspecting the Vehicle cargo on Cargo ship two. Everything went ordinarily until they were assaulted by a group of Soldiers, the Soldiers died in a matter of seconds, of course, as the ship was filled with a plethora of Troops. When they were examined it seemed that they werent just some deserters. They were speculated to be rebels, and it seemed that they knew that the Fleet had arrived, the situation was dire. The Fleet was put on high alert and the Nuke was readied in case a major assault was planned.

New Portstead

Colonel Wilson Berro carried his BMCR service rifle in his right hand as he prepared to load up onto his lead A400m. With him was his type 3 body armor, flack jacket, rations, radio, first aid equipment, his fort-12 pistol, IED kit and Vymarian Didoes to pay off the local population if his smooth words wouldn't get his way. In the distance, about 400 meters out, he watched the 10 A400m's prep their engines for take off. The plan, he was told; would be an air drop of his Legion over the nation of Arimasse. He and the 53rd Offensive Paratrooper Legion would have to march into a contested city in the center of Arimasse. Word was the AKIF already held the advantage. Granted the city was one of the larger ones, but that wouldn't stop them from helping the freedom fighters take control of the city.

Along with their 1,600 strong legion, Vymarian Generals planned for a follow up force, 8,000 strong. The only issue was that most of that force would have to push up a Neutral nation in the conflict, which didn't seem to have much of an issue when they were promised a nice bonus for letting a foreign army pass through their nation. The Vymarian Senate was not very confident about the conflict initially, but with a few patriotic speeches, the go ahead for war was passed.

Wilson's legion would have no vehicle support, and the attack would have to happen fast. They would be dropped about 10 miles away from the city and would have to walk their way there.

Not too much of an issue, that's the type of warfare he was trained for. Once they got into the city, that would be a different story. Splitting up into separate Companies, moving up the city. The urban warfare would be tough, however, it was nothing the Vymarians thought they couldn't handle. Not much was known about the enemies armor capabilities, but to be safe, for every 5 men, there was 1 with an RPG-29. With the use of some urban warfare tactics, a blast from an RPG-29 would knock out most tanks from the side. Or so, that was the belief.

He exited the briefing room, exiting the building that with held it. Behind him, more soldiers followed him. A column with 3 rows followed him into his airlift. In 10 other buildings, more troops came out in a similar fashion, all carrying the same weight as Wilson on their minds. For once they were dropped, their well being was left up to the strength of themselves, the enemy, and chance.

Karnickel Islands Corps Resolution 121017

After due deliberation, the active members of the Karnickel Islands Corps have resolved that peacekeeping intervention is of utmost necessity in the Bulavega-Aurimasse War. The members have reached this resolution on the following observations:

Due to the nature and magnitude of the conflict, unacceptable amounts of civilian lives are at risk of ruin.
The conflict poses the risk to last an unacceptable length of time.
The amount of armies participating in the conflict creates the potential for mass destruction.

Recognizing these terrible faults, the Karnickel Islands Corps has levied a force numbering 11,950, comprised of both military and civilian personnel. This peacekeeping task force will operate under the following objectives:

Create and enforce a buffer zone occupied exclusively by the forces of the Karnickel Islands Corps.
Use the buffer zone to shelter and assist civilians afflicted by the horrors of war.
Maintain the buffer zone as a shelter that can be sought by refugees until the end of hostilities in the region.
Under no circumstances act in an offensive manner during the conflict. Military force is to be used only in defense of the buffer zone.

By activating and maintaining this buffer zone, the Karnickel Islands Corps seeks to offer much needed respite and aid to those unduly set upon by the war. By achieving these goals, the Karnickel Islands Corps shall create an atmosphere of peace and cooperation among the populace, so that no such devastating conflict may occur again.

This resolution has been ratified by the Socialist Federal Republic of Cannidarsa, the Republic of Syike, and the Union of Federal States of Fjorda.

Over central Aurimasse

Throughout the sky flew squadrons of cargo planes, each bearing the emblem of the Karnickel Islands Corps. In the lead plane, Marshal Jacques Fortineaux had a hard time staying asleep through the bumpy ride he's been enjoying. What he had noticed, however, was that he was reaching his destination. After checking in with the pilots, he learned they had found the coordinates they needed to establish the buffer zone. Slowly, the mass of cargo planes descended upon an open field, making a bit of a rough landing as there was no established airfield. When the planes rolled to a stop, their cargo unloaded with brutal efficiency. The Marshal scanned around, and saw the chocolate chip patterned uniforms of Syikenian Army Corps soldiers spill out of the planes, taking with them the equipment they need to establish their zone. Looking further along, he saw the other members of the Corps. Fjordans, Cannidarsans and everything in between. In the sky, the accompanying helicopters flew around looking to set up their operations. Radio chatter exploded all around the landing field. The men of the Karnickel Islands Corps were hard at work building fortifications, shelters, aid stations and more. Marshal Fortineaux only hoped that they wouldn't have any unexpected visitors before they were ready for them.

A small squadron of 5 helicopters flew around the area of the zone, looking out for areas of civilization to airdrop leaflets informing the citizens of the country about the zone. The leaflets read as such:
Code: Select all
Citizens of Aurimasse,
We have food, shelter, medical care, and protection from the war.
Seek out the KARNICKEL ISLANDS CORPS
No time limit for stays
Protect your families from the horrors of war.

CLASSIFIED KORJIAN GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATION
To the AKIF

Greetings. Our nation has watched this conflict develop since its beginning, and after talking with our internal advisers, the Korjian military has been approved to intervene. We believe that the AKIF's goals are similar enough to our own goals of establishing worker's states worldwide, and would like to send forces and officials to train your own forces, prepare them to run a revolutionary government in the event of victory, and aid them in scenarios where conventional warfare is necessary. We do not ask for money or resources in return, and consider this a chance to expand our ideology, which is worth the costs of getting involved here. We are prepared to deploy one of our expeditionary divisions to Aurimasse, but first, we ask if the AKIF has secured airports and/or seaports to facilitate the entrance of our forces into the country.

Regards, the Imperial States of Korjo

Near Bulavegese border
Aurimasse

The 91st Brigade has been sent to help the Aurimans to capture a contested city near the border with Bulavega. The soldiers had been given transports by the Bulevegese garrison at the nearby city. Supplies would be paid for by the Furbish government, and they will be flown to the city. A Bulavegese supply convoy will then send the supplies to a small camp set up by the brigade. The camp is far from the city the soldiers are attempting to capture, but close enough that it takes a day to arrive from there to the city and back. Supplies will be carried by the Furbish from there, and they will be carried by mule, since the terrain is too rough for vehicles. The city the soldiers are attempting to capture isn't large, but is in a strategically important location. It is the closest to the Bulavegese border, and it is the closest to a city in Bulavega. Capturing the city would give the AKIF a launching point for entering Bulavega. Several other cities there were also under threat.

Karnickel Islands Corps Aid Outpost

In addition to the soldiers who arrived with the Syikenian and Fjordan troops, the sky over the field was now filled with the buzz of more transport aircraft and the sight of white parachutes, some carrying men and some carrying equipment, while the engineers below them were starting to build a serviceable runway and building defensive positions. Overseeing the Cannidarsan operation was Colonel Lada Yashina, a veteran of the military since the reforms in 1994. As as she scanned over the Cannidarsan contribution, she took note of all the young soldiers, some of whom couldn't be any older than 17. It reminded her of her own children. She also took note of the older soldiers, no doubt reservists called up for their experience, who likely had families of their own back home.

Paratroopers and their equipment were now landing all around the field and quickly gathered their parachutes before assembling in formation for inspection. The Cannidarsan contribution to the Karnickel Island Corps was sizeable and versatile, but most of these soldiers had only even studied warfare in school, Cannidarsa was short on combat veterans since the last war they'd fought was in 1990, and only minor skirmishing at that. As the sound of the transport aircraft faded into the distance, hasty construction continued, with some soldiers attempting to communicate with their Syikenian comrades, most of whom didn't seem to understand.

Karnickel Islands Corps Aid Outpost, Fjordan Zone

The sounds of organized chaos filled the ears of everyone present, construction vehicles were busy making dirt berms to prevent shellfire into the camp and anyone who wasn't unloading supplies was busy digging latrines and fighting pits while being supervised by an engineer. Translators ran around frequently, delivering written and verbal orders to engineers from command as well as to the personnel pulling security. It was beautiful, like a self-portrait drawn by an artist going through a manic phase, this was its own art form and the combined forces of the Union's military knew exactly how to pull it off. The Union had their own big plan for their section of the camp, allowing for suggestions from the mission commander, one Marshal Fortineaux and his advisers on some adjustments to their defense.

Being the mechanical experts of the Karnickel Islands, the Fjordans had quickly set up a manufacturing center in their zone, unloading machines for the processing of metals and woods in the area. The camp was going to be hasty at first, but as the conflict could go on for the foreseeable future, the Union had dug into its very deep pockets to shell out some pocket change for future comforts, seeing the efforts to improve camp life a necessity. As of right now, it was looking to be a tent camp for a short period of time, but in a week or two, there would be wooden barracks replacing the fabric tents to improve the state of living for the troops and refugees.

Overseeing all of this from atop a small dirt mound that had been produced from a fighting pit stood an older man, Oberst Wolfgang Schröder. His skin was weathered from long hours in the sun, a common occurrence of any veteran in the Union's military. He had served in the Hannover volunteer brigades, back in Cannidarsa's civil war, before returning to service in the Union's military forces, gathering valuable experience on how Cannidarsans fought. Wolfgang was considered a subject matter expert on military practices of foreign militaries. The Oberst also participated in the liberation of Atryastan from their oppressive servitude of New Hytheway, the pacification of the Fjordriket uprisings, and the invasion of Commisceo Island. Very few people had as many awards as he, and he only wore a few to humble himself. Schröder had turned down multiple promotions, realizing that if he went any higher he would be sitting at a desk job writing policies for the future military, something he loathed. Being considered a war hero as well as a hero of the people, he was invited to join into the membership of the RitterKompanie, a very prestigious membership in Fjorda. After a minute of thinking to himself, he declined it's entry as well, the only person to have done so in the history of the order.

Stepping down from his perch, he was satisfied with the performance of his men and women who were actively helping the people of the area. He dug into his breast pocket on his uniform and pulled out a well-worn book, the leather faded and cracked from age and use. The letters on it were gone, the color having long disappeared, but the engraving still stood there, it read, "Kadet Wolfgang Schröder". Flipping open the book, the papers were yellowed and crisp to the touch, the journal contained pieces of his history in the service, and today was the start of a new page. Pulling out a pen, he wrote one small thing, being a man of few words.

Progress is great.
God, carry these men and women as angels,
Watch over our enemies,
As I will not spare them the hellfire,
I am your sword,
You are my shield.

News from the Bulavegese goverment had not arrived, maybe the Pilots were in a weird situation with border patrols like the navy was, who knew, who cared.

What mattered was that something needed to happen, fast. The Planes were recalled to their Carriers. And due to the minor Coastal guard it was decided that immediate entry was necessary, and that is what happened, the Ships rushed through the narrow passageway and in a matter of hours they were at the Gulf, now what needed to happen was to reach an understanding with the Bulavegese goverment for the basically unauthorized entry. Then plan the landing and finally execute it.

Whilst waiting for plan to happen the Emperor sat on the top level on the Imperial Dreadnought, overlooking the onslaught that was happening some miles away, it was, militarilly speaking, a complete massacre, soldiers , revolutionaries and commanders alike dying left and and right, it was messy, very messy. The top priority was to secure the coastline to allow Bombardment of more uphill locations with the Dreadnoughts on the Shore, which, for obvious reasons needed to be secured. After the Coastline is captured, it will be a matter of time until the AKIF surrenders and Aurimasse is restored to Imperial rule. That will benefit Ordocravia and perhaps make it Aurimasse's top trading partner, which would economically boost Ordocravia beyond Imagination.

Though that remained to be seen, as the war was long from over

AURIMASSE

10 MILES FROM VALEGOZA

Wilson's heart was pounding. Even though he had been through numerous jumps, he was never able to get rid of the feeling of adrenaline moments before he jumped. He felt as the A400m was shaking as its speed continually decelerated as to allow the paratroopers to safely jump out of the plane and land on their designated targets. Unlike his prior missions, he would not be dropping with some form of armor support in the form of Humvees. It was him, his rifle, and his legion of 1200 strong. Once they hit the ground, they would immediately march south towards the contested fighting in Valegoza. According to intelligence, the city was swinging to the side of the AKIF fighters, meaning the Vymarian Legion could swing the battle into their favor.

24 hours prior to the drop, Vymar issued its allegiance to the AKIF fighters in a public service announcement, while also sending telegrams to those in charge of AKIF, warning them of the quick deployment of a legion north of Valegoza. It was official, and the drop was about to happen within a matter of seconds.

The cargo doors began to open, slowly receding downwards as wind blasted into Wilson's face. Beyond the doors was an extremely mountainous landscape. Rugged and wide. His eyes scanned the landscape as he took in whatever breath he could as wind continued to blast into his face. With a go ahead from the pilot letting him know that now was the time to jump, he edged towards the cargo doors and let himself free of the airlift. Wind blasted his face while he descended downwards towards the landing zone.

As he fell, his men followed suit, hundreds of paratroopers descending down onto the land below from the multiple A400m's continuing to hold formation. As the last paratrooper made his way down, the A400m's closed their cargo doors and made a hard right, popping flares and making sure their engines were at full throttle.

As the A400m's flew into the horizon, Wilson felt the ground rush up on him, as his parachute continued to slow his descent. His knees buckled as his boots slapped onto the ground, forcing his legs forward as to not fall flat on his face. He then took off the straps that held his parachute as he came to a full stop. He jogged some feet to a protruding rock, and took position. He gave the order for the troops to take up position after rallying with their assigned squad lead, watching more and more parachutes make contact with the ground. His 10 man squad rallied by him fairly quickly, taking up positions by any form of cover they could find. Effectively setting up a perimeter around them.

Some minutes passed by and with some confirmations with separate squad leads, the Airborne legion was ready to group up. The city was about 6 miles away, 1 off from what they were originally supposed to hike. It was of little issue to Wilson however, and he ordered the squads to form up into their assigned companies within 5 miles from Valegoza. With the use of good communication and binoculars, the process was done within Wilson's 5 mile demand.

Each company was named after a certain color, Wilson's being Red Company. Red company would be taxed with swinging up the right side of Valedoza, and helping lead AKIF into advancing their already large gains in the city. Each building would have to be treated as its own seperate battle, and with a goal of clearing at least 6 buildings a day, they're lives would constantly be under threat. Without the support of armor for some time, the Company would have to rely on its wits, IED prep kits and training in guerrilla tactics if they were to succeed in their goals, and in supporting the AKIF. However, this was all to be determined within a march of 5 miles directly into Valegoza.

AKIF Prison Compound

Commander Joska was tasked with guarding this complex. It was converted from one of the many secret prisons operated by the old regime where hundreds of his comrades had been tortured and executed. It was now used to store those very torturers, murderers, and their accomplices. They had what was coming for them, convert or die. He marched into the courtyard inspecting the execution site, while he was technically the commander of the unit guarding the site, the Kalakan faithful were all equal, and thus he too must patrol and sleep like his subordinates. He picked up the ceremonial Shika, a traditional Auriman scythe like weapon that was used to decapitate and dismember its victims not unlike the Dacian falx. The gods had decreed that all un-believers to be sacrificed to more quickly go to the underworld and reincarnate, hopefully as a believer. This was to be done until the whole world was made up of believers. He was slightly worried, one of the patrols he sent into the farther mountains hadn’t returned. They had reported small enemy units near the foot of the mountains and hadn’t reported back since. This compound was still near territory controlled by the heretics, they could have overwhelmed the defenders.

Suddenly, and explosion rang over the small valley. Then another, and another, and another. Joska rushed to the end of the courtyard and slammed him hand down onto an alarm bell. The alarm rang out across the compound, though everyone probably knew. “By Zargoff and Tyor, we’re probably outnumbered” he thought to himself. He then withdrew his radio and yelled for snipers to turn to the mountain slopes. Dozens of small black spots, enemy soldiers, appeared on the slopes. Ahead of them, were a few retreating AKIF fighters, many injured and scratched up. “Cover our troops, fire on the heretics!” shouted Joska. Gun shots rang out across the valley, as dozens of Auriman troops dropped dead. Suddenly, more explosions from the other side. Thousands of black spots were now appearing on the mountain tops. “Thank Zargoff they had the foresight to mine the mountains” thought Joska. As he rushed to the front with his own gun, hundreds of more AKIF soldiers rushed in every direction, opening fire on the Auriman troops. More and more Aurimans continued to appear, from every direction. His radio buzzed on, a cry for help from the Northern defenders. He turned on his own radio, “Get out the artillery, prepare to fire on the heretics” he shouted. Within minutes, a dozen fighters had dragged out a pair of artillery pieces. They were antiquated ancient pieces, from at the latest the 1960s. A sudden explosion rang across the valley as the first shell slammed into a group of Auriman soldiers, exploding with such force that dozens bits of enemy soldier was sent flying.

“Move some troops to the Northern edge, some of the troops might break through over there. We’ll lure down their soldiers in the South, then we push up back the mountains and leave them in a kill zone at the bottom of the valley” shouted Joska across the radio. “Were these fools not going to use artillery to attack” he thought to himself. He would personally lead the charge up the slopes to push back the heretics. He quickly gathered his personal guards near the prison’s control center. His troops like most AKIF soldiers were equipped with only submachine guns and assault rifles with a few carrying light machine guns and about eight snipers. He pulled out a small map from his coat pocket, it showed a simple drawing of the slopes above, it was divided into sections with the mined ones colored in red. “Forwards! For Zargoff!” shouted Joska. He lifted his submachine gun and began spraying semi-randomly into the hill side. This men ran after him, rushing up the hillsides, emptying his entire clip before killing a single enemy. Luckily, he had almost a dozen magazines clipped to his belt. Joska continued by withdrawing a grenade and flinging it into a group of Auriman soldiers standing just 20 feet in front of him.

Near Bulavegese border
Aurimasse

The city of Nansier stood near the mountains. It wasn't very large, But it had an important strategic location. To the Aurimans and Bulavegese, it provided a base of operations for the Bulavegese military. Losing it would force the Bulavegese to push back to Pamasse and Rouveil, and they would then be on the defense. To the AKIF, the city was a possible base of operations for moving into Bulavega. With it, they can press on to Bulavega, and stop their intervention in Aurimasse.

Both sides fiercely fought for the city for weeks, but besides the AKIF's initial gains, it was a stalemate. Both sides' ranks were filled with corruption and incompetence. The Auriman and Bulavegese armies' generals did not know how to use their technological and numerical edge, and the AKIF was far too decentralized and unorganized to do anything. Leaders of the small groups often were also as incompetent as their adversaries. The AKIF is officially lead by Commander Herrero, but in reality all the small groups ignored his orders. The Auriman force is lead by Lieutenant General Armando, and the Bulavegese group is lead by Lieutenant General Tremblay, although it is also controlled by the Aurimans. At this point, much of the city was in ruins. Both sides bombed and shelled much of the city, and when that was complete, the ruins were bombed and shelled again.

The Furbish 91st Brigade arrived to the city. They stood on the outskirts, waiting for orders. Duke Kieffer and a few other generals went to the bunker where the generals commanding the Auriman and Bulavegese force are stationed. He was greeted by some soldiers, and shown where the generals are.

Soldier: To Herrero "Sir, the Furbish reinforcements have arrived. Their leaders would like to talk to you."

Lieutenant General Herrero: "Bring them here."

Lieutenant General Tremblay: "I doubt we need any more. We're already winning."

The Furbish generals enter the room

Marquess Katzenbach: To Duke Kieffer "I hope these guys aren't as incompetent and arrogant and turn down our soldiers as the rest of the generals."

Duke Kieffer: To Marquess Katzenbach "We're not going to fight here. All I need to do is teach them urban warfare basics."

Lieutenant General Herrero: "We do not need your help. We are winning this city already."

Duke Kieffer: "Are you sure about that? To me it looks quite the opposite."

Lieutenant General Herrero: "Oh of course we are winning! Do you not see how the AKIF controlled parts are constantly bombarded, and our soldiers moving forward?"

Duke Kieffer: "So when do you think you'll completely recapture the city? And what strategy will you use?"

Lieutenant General Herrero: "It will be captured soon, probably in a few months. We shell the AKIF controlled areas, and send troops to fight any AKIF fighters we spot.

Marquess Katzenbach: "That is a bad strategy. They can take shelter in basements or build nearby bunkers. The only way to capture the areas is if you send soldiers to every building and clear out AKIF Fighters from there."

Duke Kieffer: "Yes. Shelling is ineffective. If you want to capture the city quickly, this is the only way. And one more thing, don't even think about assaulting a building unless you have one squad for every soldier inside."

Lieutenant General Herrero: "Why should I believe some foreign generals on this?"

Duke Kieffer: "I guarantee you this won't fail. From what I know you have the technological and numerical edge. How about you use it."
