Greetings, and welcome to the very first incarnation of the Coastal Daytona Academy series! As many of you know, there have been many attempts at the high school genre through the years on NationStates! Some of the more prominent examples, in recent memory, being Blake Holsey, Fairwood, and Central Valley. Like these, presuming you some of you are at least slightly familiar with at least one of them, Coastal Daytona is a mixture between rail and open-sandbox RP, with your characters driving their individual own story-lines and influencing the greater tale being told, the saga of Coastal Daytona! Characters are free to wander, to explore the world around them, and to interact with each other through the endless litany of possible social occasions that materialize in high school! At Coastal Daytona, players are welcomed to test their creativity and are encouraged to expand their writing skill! YOU get to build your own character(s), YOU get to draw their world, and YOU get to decide how your they interact with the world around them! The possibilities are endless! What are you waiting for? SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY INFO
Coastal Daytona Academy is set in the medium-sized, eventful town of Daytona Beach that is nestled along the Atlantic Coast of the state of Florida. Daytona Beach is home to just under 70,000 people, and is only an hour's drive west Orlando and an hour's drive north to Jacksonsville. The city, as many of you have known, is also home to the Daytona International Speedway (and the Daytona 500) and its' beaches serve as a favorite tourist destination nearly year-round. That means the number of possibilities is limited, so it would seem, by practically only your own imagination! The school itself is a private institution, located just a few blocks away from the shore, and is home to a student body of around 2,500 students that is mixed between boarding students and local residents. The mascot of Coastal Daytona Academy is the Braveheart, and the school offers a wide range of sports and other extracurricular activities for its' students, such as football, soccer, baseball, swimming, student council, key club, band, photography, ping-pong club, forensics (debate) team, mock trial team, robotics club, fishing club, The Tribal Digest/Network, yearbook committee, JROTC, video game club, and so much more! The climate, of course, is what one would typically expect of Florida: consistently warm and sunny. Just another day in paradise!
The school day schedule is listed below. As you have noticed, there is a fifteen minute break between classes. This is to encourage character-interaction between classes! The schedule is also a rotating one, in which students will have six classes. "But wait, there are only five class periods!" Says the observational one, to which they are correct! This is because one class "drops" each day. Here, allow me to illustrate for you:

1.) OP word is law. Follow it. Life will be far more easier. I am, along with my Co-OPs, far more enjoyable to deal with than the NS Mods. Shocker, I know, but it's true. Let's not test it out to see.
2.) Post when you can, tell us when you can't. General expectation is set at a minimum of one post per week, though it is presumptive that personal lives can, and will, occasionally interfere with RP-activity. If a player is ever worried about being unable to met the aforementioned quota, for any reason, it is preferable that such a warning is provided prior to sudden inactivity. We will gladly accommodate and work around your schedules. This will not be a particularly rigidly-enforced rule, but we do not want to have lagging conversations between characters spanning over weeks. Please, out of respect for everyone involved, just communicate with us about your situation.
3.) Please put forth a degree of effort in posting. While we are relatively lenient in this regard, and some interactions may invariably consist of a simple one-liners during conversations, it is highly-preferred to keep said one-liners to a minimal. Laziness is a bad habit to develop. You can thank me later.
4.) Respect thy fellow players. Don't act immature and don't be like a jerk. You're not nearly as cool as you think you are when you act like that. Got it? Good.
5.) No perfect characters. Give them a degree of flaw. It's such a boring world when everyone is a bland and perfect Mary-Sue. Spice it up a little. Make things realistic.
6.) Cheat-editing, godmodding, and metagaming are strictly forbidden. Having your character be aware of knowledge that is, frankly, impossible for said character to be aware of in an IC-context, editing posts following a fellow player's posts to contain any reputable damage or harm, or controlling any character's actions or circumstance aside from your own in any way, shape, or form are all strictly forbidden. The only exception to this is if there is an arrangement between the players of two characters, and it is preferable that the OP is informed of said arrangement in order to avoid any misunderstanding, confusion, and/or drama.
7.) Keep OOC and IC-posts separate. There are threads for both for a particular reason, utilize them as such. This is not an anarchy.
8.) Keep roleplay PG-13. If you are wondering if you are crossing a line, it is best to ask in the OOC first. There are rules to posting on NSForums and Telegraming alike. Follow them, you dastardly cretins.
9.) Follow your character application. While some variance between application and roleplaying is to be expected, to accommodate ones' own RPing skills and tendencies, anything too out-of-character will likely be retconned.
10.) Abide by your character commits. While there is no character-limit, whoever you create will be yours to control throughout the RP. Please do not attempt to ditch them.
