Lord Wilmore was an eccentric but prosperous and on occasion sought excitement through a bottle of Ostin or hunting. Having lost all pleasure in hunting stags and hares in his estate, Lord Wilmore, travelled the Western Isles, hunting bison in western Bravo Rio, which eventually led him to the badlands of cebtral Bravo Rio. There he got hints from his guides of lost treasures hidden in a vast and perilous jungle and deep in forbidden caves. The Lord had casually suggested a jaunt in the general area, only to be run off by the natives. Lord Wilmore returned to his estate, and pondered long the rumours of riches. He thus gave his son the estate, and set off to Bravo Rio with ten million livres and discrete advertisements for other adventurers.
The artefact sought is Muerta Mucuahuitil, a sword of death and destruction. According to legend, the King of the ill-fated Jungle Kingdom, which was weak and impoverished by tribute, sought to save his kingdom. He called together his medicine men and witch doctors, and they forged him a sword of great power, by putting a demon inside the blade. This demon, however, had negotiated a price for its acquiescence, that whosever wielded the sword, in exchange for invincibility and the slaughter of his enemies, would lose those nearest to them. The king was never told the price, only given hints of the swords power.
The King won many battles and conquered much of Bravo Rio, but after each battle, a child of his would die. Finally, with only his youngest alive, he asked the occult people of his kingdom for an explanation. They confessed their negotiation with the demon. In bitter and black rage, the king slew them all, only to receive news by a servant that his son was dead. He wept long, and vowed that the sword would never be found again. Uniting the immense wealth of his vassals, he built a great labyrinth, and buried the sword at its heart. Some say that a few witches he spared in his rafe , and that this labyrinth was their compensation to the King, and that they bewitched it that none might survive its traps and deceits. He lived the rest of his days in the forbidden room, where the sword was kept, slowly growing mad. Finally, the sword, growing tired of its isolation, demanded blood from the king. The king grabbed it and cast it at the door, which opened. The sword impaled the king’s butler, the last man he loved in the world. And a great laugh fill the room, and a Voice said, “Now none are left but you, I shall receive your blood gladly.” The Voice lauhed leeringly, and the king rotted and withered, and all that was good left the Jungle. The King’s spirit, still mad as ever, is said to haunt the labyrinth, powerless, yet ever trying to destroy the Sword, and all those who seek it.
Anyone from the TWI can apply to join, those from other regions will be accidently shoved off a waterfall . Those who apply, with a rough approximate of realism will be accepted. Multiple characters per participant may be allowed, but only with permission from the OP, myself, or a Co-OP, to be determined. Examples of an application will be posted below.
Nota Bene: While the TWI is a realistic region, this rp will involve cursed treasure and unreasonably sized animals. These are justified with lack of predators, the strange environmental conditions of Bravo Rio, and the occurence of excessively bad luck, which all may factor in heavily.
