Will the apocalypse happen?

Postby The Federation of Kendor » Thu Oct 12, 2017 5:18 pm

Hello. I'm making this thread because today is Friday the 13, as well as the 100 year anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun in Fatima, Portugal. I believe in the event, as a Catholic. It's said that there are three visions given to Sister Lucia, and the third is said to be about an apocalypse. Now, this could come true, given the flyby of an asteroid near Earth, as well as the risk of the eruption in a volcano in Canary Island, which will cause a massive tsunami that will be more devastating than the 2004 one, and will destroy the East Coast of the US due to it's size.

In my opinion, I don't know if it will happen. However, I'm afraid that the latter have more chance to happen than the former, as well as the potential apocalypse in general. Unfortunately, we will have to wait.

So, what is your opinion?

Yes.

But not for a billion years (If you count it as Earth being rendered uninhabitable) or seven billion (If you count it as Earth being destroyed).
A confederation of human-controlled star systems that control about a third of the Milky Way. We have a tense but peaceful relationship with other major galactic powers. To get the current date that I use, add 3000 years.

The Confederate Council is the highest governing force in the Confederacy. Consisting of ten people, it collectively decides its actions (The Confederacy is more like the UN than a nation), acting as representatives of subsections.

Considering there's only really been one major regression in human civilization and society, I'd say it's really not all that likely.

Shouldn't the collapse of the Roman Empire and the Black Death count as two for Western civilization alone?

But to answer the OP, probably not how you're imagining it.

That baloney? No.

But the world will end, many millions of years in the future, as the Sun's increasing brightness eventually renders the world uninhabitable, and moreso some four billion years in the future, when the Sun's twilight causes it to expand and swallow up the Earth like Cronus taking baby-back ribs a little too literally.

I wonder if on that day, there'll be some twit on a starship that points and says 'See? SEE?!'

So you call religion nonsense, and that the Miracle of the Sun is explainable by the science. And also that the visions about the WWII and that assassination attempt of a pope were coincidences

Will the Apocalypse happen on Friday the 13th of October, 2017? God knows. Literally. But chances of it happening because it's Friday the 13th of October, 2017...highly unlikely.

And I thought the Vatican denied the apocalyptic nature of the 3rd Secret of Fatima, although Ratzinger hinted at it being as such apparently at a prior time. *shrug*

There are a wide variety of things that could bring about the end of human life on Earth and on a long enough timescale at least one of them will certainly happen. I wouldn't count on Jesus showing up to sort the righteous from the wicked, though.
