As long as your RP takes place in Savojarna, I'd advise you to stick to this timeline, however it is not necessary and there will be no effect on your RP bonus if you don't. Savojarna National Tourist Office - Visitor's Guide to Savojarna

We expect visitors from all over the multiverse to arrive to our beautiful country for the 34th World Cup of Hockey. To prevent unwanted surprises, here are the most important things you should know if you come to this nation. The Savojars are friendly and open people, but the law in this nation can be harsh and it is best to be prepared and know your borders and rights. Similarly, it is important to know where to go and what not to miss - surely you don't want to go home and never have seen the famous Great White Dragons? Here is all you need to know as a visitor to Savojarna!

Savojarna is a nation shaped by the roughness and hard conditions of the life on those frozen islands. Often, settlements got too big for what limited resources our soil offers, and the only way to improve the supplies of food was war. This rough environment has hardened us all. For many years, war was the way a man had to take to bring his family through the winter, be it war on his neighbour or on the fruitful lands of Russica. The country hadn't been united until the 16th century, and only in the early 19th century did said unity become more than just central rule from Sjoedrhavn. The divisions of the old times can still be seen and felt, and we definitely advise you to see more than just the city of Sjoedrhavn - even though there is no way of denying you should take a look at it. Travel up north to the rough wilderness of Northern Vestrholm and make some expeditions into nature from Jarnstad. Take a short flight (or a boat) to Storevik and explore the Silver Mountains of Ejana, where the silver was mined that allowed Ejana to reign almost the entire nation from Storevik in the 9th century. Stroll through the vast forests of Sumanen, taste its many berries and see one of the famous Savojar Dragons. Or see the centre of Savojar Christianity in St. Andrei, down south in Russica.

Ice hockey is one of the most popular sports in this nation, with the SHS attracting huge crowds outnumbered only by the Football Series due to its bigger stadiums. It regularly reaches a higher percentage of seats filled than the SFS manages. Savojar players have moved to Novaya Zemlya and Mercedini, leading to a great support for these two countries as well, as their players are familiar for the average Savojar fan. The nation considers the aforementioned countries friendly rivals, but also harbours a more bitter rivalry with Juvencus (who seem to have given up on hockey again). Similarly, Aquitayne has the potential to grow into a formidable rival of the Savojar side as the two countries met in WCoH 33 and will face each other again in this edition.

Getting here, getting around

WCoH attendees will likely fly to the capital, Sjoedrhavn. This means you will land at Sjoedrhavn International, from where most major national airlines fly to the bigger Multiverse nations. IAS flies to most Rushmori nations and to many destinations in other major nations as well. Some low-budget airlines fly to Thorsborg, from where there is a high speed connection to Sjoedrhavn. Your match ticket serves as a ticket on all national and Sjoedrhavn trains for three days before and after the match! If you fly to Pawlograd, there is a ferry connection which takes about three hours and is covered by the ticket as well. Alternatively, you may want to take a domestic flight which will likely cost you around 30-50 SAK. Visa are easy to get as most Rushmori nations don't need a visum (but need to announce their stay - if you fly with IAS, that was taken care of when you bought the ticket). For the week before and after the matches, this practice was extended to all citizens of nations coming to play in Savojarna. For staying longer, you will need a tourist visum which can be obtained at every Savojar embassy or consulate or on www.immigrationoffice.int.gov.sj.

In Savojarna, you will mostly use public transport. Within all participant cities, public transport is entirely free. Between cities, we have a high speed train network, the use of which is free to ticket holders on game days to travel to or from the venue! Inter-island-travel is usually done by boat (boat transfers are included in intercity train tickets, or can be bought on their own) or by domestic flights. Airports can be found in Sjoedrhavn, Pawlograd, St. Andrei, Thorsborg, Storevik, Virkaja and Hovikkära. Major ports are to be found in Sjoedrhavn, Pawlograd, Storevik, Hovikkära and Jarnstad. Public transport is reliable and affordable. If you want to rent a car, this is possible at airports and train stations. You need to have had a driving license of your home country for at least three years and be over 21 to rent a car, and to drive it you need to have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old.

A Place to Stay, A Way to Pay

Sjoedrhavn has a number of hotels and hostels in all price classes. For the games, we advise you to book early on to avoid bad surprises. In the whole country, a number of camping places and guesthouses can be found, while big hotels are not that common outside tourist hotspots. Small private guesthouses and Bed&Breakfasts are quite common in smaller towns and along tourist areas. Contact the SNTO under http://www.touristinfo.int.gov.sj for more information on a certain area.

You pay for all this with the Savojar Krona (SAK). There are coins for 10, 20 and 50 Öre and for 1, 2 and 5 Kronor, while the bank notes are worth 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 Kronor. Money can be obtained at any change bureau or bank, and there are such located in any major train station or airport. Please only use the Bank of Savojarna exchange places/banks, as other offers are illegal and we do not guarantee that you will not receive invalid or fake money. The Bank of Savojarna is the only institution licensed to offer exchange. You can also obtain money at any ATM, which are equipped to use most credit and debit cards used in the Multiverse. However, this cannot be expected of stores and shops, as Savojars typically pay for things with cash.

Typical prices in central Sjoedrhavn:
- a big beer (0.5 l): 5-7 SAK
- a glass of water or soda (0.5 l): 3-5 SAK
- a coffee: 3 SAK
- a meal in a restaurant: 20-25 SAK
- a taxi ride (5 km, day): 20 SAK
- a night at a hotel (three stars): 70-100 SAK
- a night at a hostel: 20-25 SAK
- a cinema ticket: 15-20 SAK

Sjoedrhavn

Sjoedrhavn is the nation's capital, located in the south of Vestrholm in a natural harbour. Due to this location, it became a big trading station and a major port for the navy. The old town of Sjoedrhavn comes largely from the 17th and 18th century, while the Docklands, serving as the primary nightlife district of the city, were erected in the early 20th century. It is the traditional seat of power in Savojarna through most of the modern time, and even longer ago in Vestrholm. It is a pride and vibrant city that stands on par with many other capital cities in the Multiverse.

Thorsborg

Thorsborg is the second-biggest city of Vestrholm. It is located at a strategic location, a crossroads of trade routes between Jarnstad, Sjoedrhavn and Landsmark. Thorsborg is located on a step in the landscape that allows for use of water power. This location eventually turned the military stronghold into an industrial powerhouse in the 19th century, and a beacon of revolution in 1909. In the 1970s and 1980s, a gradual shift towards a technology-oriented industry happened. Today, Thorsborg is a center of youth culture, energy production and tech companies. It is both an industrial and cultural center, even though this vibrant city has not held significant political power since the rise of Sjoedrhavn.

Hovikkära

The biggest city of the island of Sumanen lays in the South of the island, where it connects the island and its large timber and mining industry to the rest of the country. Hovikkära is a port and trading city, which has relatively little industry itself. However, it has been a political and trade center of its island in the past, and while South Sumanen has not been independent for a long time, Sjoedrhavn's representants have governed the area from Hovikkära's small but pretty old town. The city is smaller than other regional centers of Savojarna, but considered a "secret gem" by many travelling sites for its beautiful 18th/19th century old town, its harbour which is an industrial museum, and for its representative district overlooking old town and harbour.

Pawlograd

Pawlograd is the biggest town and economic center of Russica Savojar. While its administration lays in the 18th century colonial town of Savojagrad, this has been the area's biggest port from where all the goods acquired in Russica were shipped north to Sjoedrhavn. The connection of Pawlograd and Sjoedrhavn remains the main arteria of Savojarna's economy and the survival of its inhabitants, as the majority of the nation's agricultural output comes from the Russica region. Its inhabitants speak a Russian dialect and have a large Christian minority, based largely in the rural area and around St. Andrei. In the Northern parts of Russica, and especially the Pawlograd region, international influences are high. Pawlograd is a melting pot unprecedented within Savojarna, and one of the most dynamic and vibrant cities in the nation. Its inhabitants love hockey, and will be absolutely delighted to realise their city hosts Group H, featuring the Novozemlyan team which is very popular within the city's Russian-speaking community.

Storevik

This far-North city is the capital of Ejana, the smallest and roughest of Savojarna's main islands. In the past, it had grown rich and powerful off its natural resources, mainly copper, iron and silver. Ejanan rulers had been the first to unite Savojarna under their rule, based on their riches and their powerful warriors. Nowadays, Storevik is a pulsating, modern port city. Due to the relatively low population of Ejana, this had always been a place full of immigrants from all over Savojarna. It is also a historically significant location, as the Revolution of 1909 started here, when angry miners from the island's rich mines had besieged the administrative buildings of the Province. These events are memorised in a museum that is considered one of Savojarna's best museums, and the people up here are known as some of the most passionate ice hockey fans of the country. And they are incredibly hospitable, making sure your stay in Ejana will be enjoyable.

Virkaja

The capital of Sumanen is a city that has an old history, but has not been more than a small lumberjack settlement until the 19th century. Only with the advancement and modernisation of the timber industry could the city of Virkaja grow into the "Giant in the Forest" that it is known of today. This place has been decried as a boring town only good for sleeping and working for years, but since the 1970s Virkaja has undergone a massive transformation. Starting out with a spectacular rock music scene in the industrial environment of the city in the late 60s and the early 70s, followed up by a movement to revitalise the city, this massive capital of the Savojar timber industry could improve its quality of life to the point that it is now considered one of the major places to be for the young, independent counter-culture of Savojarna. It is also the capital and home of the Savojar Air Force, leading to a great technical development in the city which further vitalised life in this rapidly changing place.

SavojarSports.sj - inside reports from all Savojarna
Savojarna reveals the WCoH 33 roster!

Savojarna plays a game that is mostly depending on tactical discipline and puck possession. While the Savojars do value a good deflection or rebound goal, and certainly have many players who can do such things, they usually prefer a pass to a shot from a desperate position hoping for a lucky bounce. Their players think fast rather than move exceptionally fast (but they are not slow either!), with a few exceptions on the attack since the coaching changed and the team is a bit more aggressive. While they don't have to hide from anyone except maybe Enemy Crushers, they are usually not physically superior.

In terms of tactics, they play an aggressive forechecking with one or two men, trying to force puck losses, and drop back to their own blue line once the opponent has reached the neutral zone. They attempt to keep the opponent away from their own side, and defend usually quite solid. On the attack, Savojarna's top lines work with a lot of passing and cycling the puck to find an open lane while the third and fourth line play deeper and with more drive to the net. Especially the fourth line often crowds the slot, while the third is more likely to go deep and play behind the net. Usually, the Savojars play with 13 forwards and 7 defenders.

Goalkeeper order: Hoyman - Strakhov - Davidsson, unless indicated otherwise.

Special Teams:
The Savojar team plays a powerplay focused mainly on shooting from the point and the circle. The two defenders play both in the area between the blue line and the top of the circle, but occasionally advance to the circle. The winger on the side of the puck moves to the circle to be open and get a shot off, the other winger moves towards the goal to assist the center in screening and opening shooting lanes. The center remains in front of the goal. In penalty killing, Savojarna lets the opponent play around the boards, but intervenes quickly if the puck moves inside the box. They play a PK with relatively little pressure.

PP1: Kristiansen - Toranen - Stefansson - Andersson - Bryzhnev
PP2: Falborg - Jarnström - Söderberg - Zagulin - Jaskinen
PK1: Asgeirsson - Falborg - Andersson - Jaskinen
PK2: Yarchenko - Glukov - Rasnikov - Neronen

Style codes:
HYB = Hybrid goaltender. Uses a sensible mixture of butterfly and standup styles. Average likelihood of rebounds.
BFY = Butterfly goaltender. Quickly drops into butterfly stance to make saves. Will concede more rebounds, but is harder to beat low.
DFD = Defensive defender. Sticks to the blue line and works a lot in backchecking. Blocks shots, checks and is hard to get past.
TWD = Two-way defender. Dangerous from the point and the top of the circle, but focuses on backchecking. Also good at breakouts.
OFD = Offensive defender. Usually a good shooter and passer, and will more frequently move deep in offensive play. Still is a defender though.
TWA = Two-way attacker. A forward who will be quick to fall back if the team loses the puck, and prevents odd-man rush opportunities.
PWF = Power forward. A forward who plays with strength in everything he does, but also relies on skill. The most allround forwards on the team.
SNP = Sniper. A forward who will score more goals than assists. His job is simply to put the puck in the back of the net from every position.
PLM = Playmaker. A forward who has good overview and passing, and will score more assists than goals. His job is to create chances for the team.
GRN = Grinder. A forward using his body to annoy the opponent, get or keep the puck and push it into the goal. Especially good at forechecking.

JERSEY

Image

Who will...
Score goals? Rasnikov, Bryzhnev, Simonen and Stefansson are top league scorers. From the defenders, all OFD as well as Glukov may score. Glukov is a good shooter, and will use that skill regularly. The OFD may also move forward and shoot from the circle occasionally.

Amaze us all? If skill explosions and wonderful dekes are your thing, have an eye on Bryzhnev and Gulbrandsson. That brilliant cross-crease pass that leaves the teammate with an open net? Hjalmarsson and to a lesser extent Simonen got you covered. Finally, Hoyman guarantees spectacle in net.

Get into a brawl? Savojars are somewhat opposed to one-on-one brawls due to their huge sense of community. While the warrior culture is strong among the team, chances are that you'll get jumped by three at once if you hurt someone. All of the team know how to shove, push and wrestle you down (and also punch, if needed) shall you hurt their linemates. Gränlund is known to be a somewhat aggressive, physical player with a great likelihood to provoke goalkeepers with late slashes, push around opponents after the whistle and knows most dirty tricks in front of the goal.

Knock you out? Heavyweights of the team are Asgeirsson (197 cm/105 kg) and Yarchenko (194 cm/99 kg). Despite his size, Toranen (183 cm/80 kg) is known for his spectacular hip checks that sent many Savojar wingers to the ice face first. In the front, Juha Neronen is known for occasionally grinding people into the boards, and Jacob Andersson has pushed many defenders off balance in front of the net.

Miss curfew? Savojars love a good drink, and while they have stopped doing the tradition of sacrificial mead-drinking before game days, they still practice it two days before (to sleep off the hangover). In this tradition, players are expected to prove their strength before the Gods by drinking large amounts of mead. The best at this discipline tend to be Strakhov, Jaskinen and Rantanen. Gudbrandsson is a very attractive guy who likes going out, and most likely to get to know the female players of other teams a bit better. Similar is said about Stefansson, but he never seems to find anyone meeting his standards... (OOC: Ville Stefansson is secretly gay and you are open to RP on that. However, given the usual issues of discrimination in hockey environments, only his best friends on the team know. I don't know if I'll bring that up in RP, but the possibility exists and if you want to collaborate on that, be it by outrage or endorsement, feel free.)

Transfer abroad? Generally, players from Army teams (CASK, ASK, Torpedo, Aviator) are hard to get away from their team, but sometimes do if the offer is good. Similarly, Dynamo (the police team) is not extremely fond of losing players. But then again, since the 1990s players have enough rights to enable transfer of everyone.

RP PERMISSIONS

You are free to do whatever you want as long as you do not:
    - violate the rules of physics or reality. Godmodding in the sense of unusual but possible events is fine, godmodding impossible things is not. As a guideline, if it has never happened in a RL hockey match, don't do it (or TG me first at least).
    - Kill any Savojars, including spectators and journalists etc.
    - Injure any player for more than until the next WCoH, or in a way that heavily affects me. As a rule of thumb, if you take out a 1st or 2nd liner, or if you take out more than one player, TG me first. If you injure them for more than the tournament, I will allow myself to shorten the injury for domestic purposes.
    - Allow me to do the same thing to you that you do to me.

A note regarding fights in the streets or stadia: Savojars are a proud people that highly values warriors and fighting as a sign of strength and pride. We do also feel a strong sense of justice towards our own kind. Attacking Savojars will be a quick way to be surrounded by a bunch of their friends, or even complete strangers who happen to be countrymen. Also, while they may be on the lookout for a fight, if you obviously decline it and walk away, nobody will actually attack you. Attacking an opponent who either declines, does not expect or conceded a fight is seen as the lowest of the low in Savojarna, and only done by spineless cowards.
A note regarding international incident or cooperative RP: I am very inclined to do cooperative RP and also gladly outside the hockey world, be that diplomacy, trade or war. However, I'd like to ask you to TG me with your proposed storyline. If you do not do this, or I declined the storyline for some reason, and you carry it out anyway, I will consider your RP useless propaganda and not accept it as Savojar canon. (Unless I actually like it, in which case I may also TG you and ask where you want to go with it, obviously)

Anthoran National Hockey Team
Nickname: Anthoran Ducks
Head Coach: Lucius Horn
Assistant Coach: Gabe Wilmer
Image

Style Modifier: +2.6

Annual Introduction:

The Anthoran national team, called the Ducks nationwide as a hold-over from the last period of international success it experienced some forty years ago, is once again returning to the World Cup of Hockey in it's 34th edition, marking their sixth straight appearance, and are currently ranked 7th in the world according to the latest rankings publicized, marking the first time in Anthoran history that they are within the Top 10 for international ratings for any sport. Last year's World Cup saw the Ducks turn in their most spectacular performance of yet, advancing all the way to the semi-finals before narrowly losing out and then sweeping into and collecting the third place position after a playoff game. Coach Horn was re-signed to a multi-million, four year deal following the end of the Cup last year and is eager, as well as the rest of his players, to come in and match or do better for this edition. There's been much press and public speculation that the new contract came with a "Win Now" modifier.

Horn has often lectured on how about how pre-Cup training and workouts are critical to heading into the tournaments with the right team chemistry and ability, and to this end he had managed to convince AIHF to build a purpose-built training and readiness center for the international hockey team, which would lend the team access to state of the art equipment and means to further enabling and increasing their readiness and performance. The center is anticipated to open before the 39th cup, so in the mean time, Horn and the Ducks utilized an old facility in the western provinces.

The 33rd World Cup of Hockey was an even bigger disappointment than the 32nd. Despite a strong start (including a 6-0 opening win against the Valhallan Union), they eventually drew 1-1 to Savojarna. While they managed to recover, a shock 3-1 loss to hosts and eventual third-placers Anthor, followed by a goalless draw against Aquitayne, showed that cracks were starting to form. Despite a couple of wins, they were unable to recapture the top spot and finished runners-up for the first time since the 28th edition in Valanora. Although they swept Vilita and Turori in the Round of 16, they had a tough time against old rivals Quebec. The first game was abandoned at 0-0 as the ice started to melt midway through the second period and, despite pushing both games two and three to a shootout after they ended 3-3, Elejamie were unable to win said shootouts and, as a result, made a shocking quarter-final exit.

As a result, Michael Madgwick announced that he was taking a hiatus from coaching the national team, followed by him announcing that Rosetta Royals head coach and national team assistan coach Tim Furst would take over the position. In his first press conference as HC, just before a warm-up tournament in WCoH34 hosts Savojarna, Furst also announced that University of Avon Ice Cats head coach Frank Marston - who coached his team to a near perfect Forrest Cup run last season - would serve as a second assistant coach for the national team. Despite some concerns about Furst as HC, mostly as he was replacing the legendary Michael Madgwick, Elejamie dominated said warm-up tournament, finishing top of the table with three wins from three (4-3 after OT against the Alpine Union, 5-0 against Savojarna and a hard-fought 5-4 win against rivals Anthor); meanwhile, the AU finished second (after a shoot-out win against the hosts), Anthor came third and Savojarna were last, having lost all three games.

Now with a re-energised team and Stacy Saunders up, the Icy Elephants are now looking for revenge. Will they finally get it and add a coveted third star to their jerseys? Or would they end up falling flat on the ice again? Only time will tell...

Declan Madgwick Memorial Stadium, Davenport, WYKN
Image

Home to the Davenport Dockers - the most successful team in the ENIHL (Elejamian National Ice Hockey League) - and the national team. Built in 1992 to replace Dockside Stadium, which was eventually demolished in 1995, Davenport Stadium is the largest ice hockey arena in Elejamie, with a capacity of 18,500. The stadium was originally known as the Davenport Stadium but it also spent a brief spell in the early 2000s as the Rapid Beer Co. Stadium. Eventually, it was renamed the Declan Madgwick Memorial Stadium just in time for the start of the 2015/16 season, in honour of famed politician and diplomat Declan Madgwick (1927-2015).

HomeFiller Arena, Coventry, AVEN
Image

Built in 1989, the HomeFiller Arena is also known as the Coventry Arena, especially in situations where HomeFiller isn't sponsoring the event in question. With a total capacity of 17,000, it is also home to the Coventry Puffins; the backup stadium for the national ice hockey and basketball teams; home to the junior and U-18 ice hockey teams; and home to the Coventry Nets basketball team. It entered a sponsorship deal with furniture store HomeFiller in 2013. The deal, which was initially set to expire this year, has been extended to 2023.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose My Scorers: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to My Players: Yes (but nothing too serious; one person at a time and they can't be out for anything longer than two games. Killing is definitely out)
Godmod Injuries to My Players: Yes (same as above)
RP Penalties for My Players: Yes
RP Ejections for My Players: Yes (the longest they can be suspended for is one match)
Godmod Other Events: Depends on what it is. Fighting I'm OK with but it might be a good idea to TG anything else.

  • "Keh-reen Mah-loh-tahn"; "Payl Eh-tah-nahr"; "Ah-lah-YEHM Mahn ees-hoh-kee teem".
  • Stacy Saunders is still a guy, if anyone's wondering. So, if you do mention him in your RP, make sure you say "he", "him" and "his" instead of "she" and "her".
  • In the event that any of my players interest you and you want to sign them, please tell me which one you want, which club wants them and all the details. However, the Barajas brothers have both started playing in the Mercedinian Super League and Antonio Cervantes will be retiring in Summer 2018 (having spent his entire career with Ángeles de la Playa de Rocas), so they're out.
  • Please get back to me with RP info by 10pm BST. Otherwise, I'll go ahead and put my own stuff in.
  • My main enforcers are Lupe, George Lincoln, Carlos Sierra, Paul Morton, Ethan Swinburne, Pael Atener, Mike Keller and Bill Judge (who was Elejamie's main enforcer during WJHC8). The only players that don't fight are Antonio and Pedro Cervantes, Peter Berg, Stacy Saunders, Cerin Meloten, Anatoly Kasputin and Lucas Madgwick. Everyone else can fight, just not as often as those first guys I've mentioned
  • Elejamie will wear their alt kit on MD1, MD4 and, should they make it there, QF1.
  • It's "Rubio Orosco". Not just "Rubio" and not just "Orosco". See below for why.
  • Pedro Cervantes is Antonio's nephew. Not his brother or his son. Using the traditional Spanish naming custom (father's surname followed by mother's) it's Antonio Cervantes Nakamura and Pedro Moreno Cervantes; the latter went by his mother's surname because there was already a "P. Moreno" on the team.
  • Danilo and Felipe Barajas are twin brothers, with Danilo being the oldest by about five minutes. Peter Berg's younger brother George plays in the junior team; however, the two of them aren't related to assistant coach and ice hockey veteran Ron Berg. And second forward line left-winger Lucas Madgwick is the son of head coach and Elejamian hockey legend Michael Madgwick.

Home Jersey (designed by me on paint using one of -Anthor-'s template):

Image

Playing style:

Players from former Prusy Krolewskie relies on puck control, speed, fineness and perfect passes. They prefer to keep the puck than shooting on the net. Their style is comparable to the USSR style in the '70s. The Pruski doesn't like physical play at all.

Players from former Botten plays modern hockey and they're pretty much skilled. They don't keep the puck as much longer as Prussian players but they don't dump the puck either.

Players from former Southern Democratic States plays north american style hockey. They crash the net and are more physical than Prussian and Bothnian players. Hunter McGuire is a power forward and sometimes goes for the big hit. He's not affraid to drop the gloves too.

Kebec National Hockey Team
World Cup of Hockey 34

Name: La République Nordique de Kebec
Quick Intro: La République Nordique de Kebec (The Nordic Republic of Kebec) is a small, breathtaking country situated in northwestern Atlantian Oceania, a smaller country of sorts, however, an ethnic mixing pots, 13 major ethnicities refer to Kebec as their delightful (and frigid) home, despite their ethnic difference, the nation is able to father around their love for the nation that is Kebec and work thru all strife to recognize the beauty and sanctity of this oasis. Grounded in our roots of the ancient Norse peoples who once populated and roamed our lands freely, we return to our olden roots and believe in the work and testament to the Gods while being accepting to all world cultures, Kebec is renowned for its Asgardian-styled architecture and the blessings bestowed upon itself by the Gods of Asgard.
Region: Atlantian Oceania
Nicknames: Les Yetis Bleus (The Blue Yetis), The Icers (historical)
Colors: Kebecois Bleu, Blue, Silver, Gold, White
Stadium: New Cheerywood (capacity 18 200)
(View Here)
After years of enduring playing at the under-sized, hugely dilapidated Sario National Hall, the Kebecois national team and Hockey Kebec worked alongside KHL-1 team - the Sario Wizards to unveil a new state-of-the-art eighteen-thousand-plus seater arena in the heart of the capital city, New Cheerywood is built on top of the Cheerywood Palace, an old hockey arena back from the the pre-Kebecois Winter War days during the 20th century, now, in modern times, New Cheerywood which was built just this year is due to be unveiled to the international audience after being used by the Sario Wizards for the regular season, the final games of the KHL-1 regular season are almost over, so, New Cheerywood will be used almost exclusively for the WCoH 34 games, the Sario Wizards will all be ultimately be playing their final regular season games and possible play-off games at the Sario Hational Hall arena for the rest of the KHL-1 season.

At current, the New Cheerywood beautiful arena can hold up to 18,200 people in its full seating-capacity, its situated in the "Portsmouth Disctrict" of Kebec - this area is considered to be he more modern era of Sario, it is known for being the home of Sario National College, many students are known to flock in this area. Beware - this area is frequented for college people looking for bars, as such, beer prices have skyrocketed in this area, expect to pay N$10 ber bottle and N$8 per can. All in all, New Cheerywood is a testament to Kebecois design, mixing ancient Greek architect and the more common and traditional French architects that is common in Kebec and creating a new style for the national arena, a symbol to behold and a well-timed one too as Hockey Kebec seems to be on the come up.

Hockey Association: Hockey Kebec (HK), headquartered in Sario, Odin Country.
    HA Chairman: Felton Parstinson

Team History
Kebec made its debut in international hockey with the World Cup of Hockey 30, contested in Norrehavn - then known as Kep, the national failed miserably, falling flat on its' face in its first try, losing each game (four) by an average of 3.7 points-per-game, this is usually considered a dark-mark in Kebecois hockey history and lead to the dissolution of the old Kespian Hockey Association and the Kep Island Hockey League. Fast-forward to 2036, under ex-coach Quentin Vaugrenard, Kebec qualified for World Cup of Hockey 33 and promptly fell flat on its face with a disappointing play. The sixth, revival edition of the Atlantia Oceania Hockey Championships saw new coach Alan Foye guide them to the knockout rounds until they suffered a 2-nil loss to Komarov-Thomiya, ending their Cinderella streak. In recent times, its taken place and participated in the Odin Cup Invitational, a pre-WCoH warm-up in which they performed well, reaching the finals before losing to Cosneolta 4-1.

Expanded History: Kebec's been trying at hockey since its founding, however, Kebecois hockey has only come to prominence recently in the past 5-10 years, the global launching and positioning of the Kebec Hockey League-1 and the Kebecois hockey pyramid system which has slowly grown to become one of the more well-known hockey leagues in the multiverse, when one thinks of Kebec, they now associate themselves with the KHL-1 if not Hockey Kebec. Kebec's first foray into international hockey was World Cup of Hockey 30, which as previously mentioned little data was collected on (i.e. I didn't roleplay) - resulting in some obscure info on the tournament, however, we do know Kebec's previous incarnation - Kep imploded, being completely destroyed on their march to a failure, this is usually referred to as the "Dark Age" of Kebecois or pre-Kebecois if you will, hockey, many have tried to downplay this in Kebec's hockey history, but it is common knowledge of their failures. Fast-forward almost twenty years to the 33rd edition of the WCoH, this time, under homegrown coach Quentin Vaugrenard. Vaugrenard had been considered a savior for Kebec heading into the competition - guiding the Big Bay Hawks all the way to the then-IHNL (now KHL-1) finals before losing in five games to the Albert-Cross Angels. Now, rightfully awarded the coaching duties, he was unable to right the ship as Kebec stumbled thru the WCoH 33 with blood gushing from its many cuts and wounds, it wound up going 1-1-8, a measly record that saw much shame brought upon the national team, leaving it with little chance of redemption. However, with a newfound push from the Kebecois hockey organization - Hockey Kebec, a push to guide Kebec into the top 15 in the world in three World Cup of Hockey-cycles, Kebec has re-concentrated its efforts on hockey, going as far as hiring Cosumarite former assistant coach and world champion, Alan Foye was brought in as the new coach of the senior national team, guiding the Kebecois team to a 4-1-1 showing at the AOHC 6 tourney in which they lost out in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
After that, they took place in the Hockey Kebec-sponsored Odin Cup Invitational an annual hockey tournament in which Kebec took on three other well-known hockey teams with the heavy-weights of Savojarna and Cosneolta being present, Kebec performed surprisingly well in the post-Fabien De Saint-Pierre-era, scoring nine goals thru the course of the tournament and demonstrating their clear offensive prowess, however a top-25 ranked Cosnoelota proved more than their match and they unfortunately succumbed to a regretful 4-1 victory. However, Alan Foye has certainly demonstrated that he can lead the team. Since arriving, Coach Foye has brought with him a new philosophy in hopes of growing the Kebecois game and adequately preparing them for the rigors of the World Cup of Hockey.

Team Info
Style Modifier:: +3.7
Post-WCoH33 Ranking:: #50 (1.29)
Formation: 1-1-4 (utilizing extra forward)
Introducing a new manager is never easy, especially a new one in successive cycles, the Kebecois hockey federation - Hockey Kebec, has opted to name for Cosumar assistant coach and world champion Alan Foye as the Kebecois national team head coach for the next two years, signing a large ᛊ9.75-million (N$6-million) contract, ensuring that he heads the senior hockey team for two consecutive tenures, included, he signed a one-cycle opt-out that would shell out N$4-million if he chose to quit. A large expense that the Hockey Kebec organization was willing to gurantee however, one that will later come to assist the Kebecois side if this move pans out correctly as planned. The debut of the new coaching style of Alan Foye is a major increase from the relative defensive positioning seen previously under the likes of Vaugrenard. Foye introduces some new-styled tactics, the Kebecois formations will only utilize one defender and opt for four forwards with the edition of the utilitarian goalie charged with keeping the net clean of any pucks. Foye's formation will allow for flexibility on both sides of the ice, the fourth forward will be able to play a two-way system, its likely Foye will recruit a defensive-styled right-wing to play the extra position most likely.

Kit
Image

Info: The Kebecois national team introduced a new kit at AOHC 6, attempting to play on the flag of Kebec, Hockey Kebec denied an opportunity to renew their license with IceVille Kits - instead opting for a transfer to Oceanus Kits in an attempt to fine better-suited colors for the Kebecois national team. Pioneered mightily by Hockey Kebec's chairman, the new kits are a drastice improvement over IceVille's kit, these proudly display te national colors of the Kebecois nation and have been applauded mightily by many.

Hockey is the national sport of Novaya Zemlya and the only sport that is played professionally in the country. This tournament will be Novaya Zemlya's 10th WCoH appearance. The team has qualified for the knockout rounds in seven straight tournaments, with one 3rd place and two 4th place finishes as their biggest accomplishments.

Last tournament, Novaya Zemlya went undefeated through the 10-game group stage and looked like they could mount a serious challenge to the Elejamie-Valanora dominance of the past few years. The Novozemlyans entered the knockout stage as the top seed - and shockingly lost to Natanians and Nosts in the Round of 16. The unexpected defeat caused a full-scale riot in the capital, Belushya Guba. Even though head coach Bogdan Bobr is the most popuplar human being alive in Novaya Zemlya, it is believed that he is in danger of losing his job if the team underperforms once again.

Novaya Zemlya plays a fast-paced, offensive brand of hockey. Coach Bobr likes to roll his lines and spread out the talent, and all lines can be expected to contribute offensively, although the first line with superstar center Valeri Kalagin is expected to lead the way. (Kalagin was recently named captain of the team, replacing retired legend Krasimir Yerokhin.) The Novozemlyans generally play a clean game. Fighting is not really a part of Novozemlyan hockey culture. (The occasional spearing, two-handed slash or sucker punch however, are - defenseman Fyodor Ryzhkov especially is known to have a short fuse - but Bobr generally keeps his team on a short leash.)

Anton Lopatin is expected to start every game except Matchday 4 against Northwest Kalactin, in which Iosif Bezukladnikov will start.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL MEN'S ICE HOCKEY TEAM

This will be Abanhfleft's nth time participating in the World Cup of Hockey. Abanhfleft is going through a bad patch of form sports-wise so no one really expects much from this team this time around. Hockey has also experienced a bit of a decline in popularity so that also means that less people would be watching the national hockey team this time around. The ice hockey craze bubble has burst, and Fleftic ice hockey fans aren't taking it too well so they'll support the team no matter what but even they aren't getting their hopes up. That's how far expectations have fallen for this team. It's kind of sad, really.

SULTANATE OF OONTAZ
NATIONAL ICE HOCKEY TEAM

This is Oontaz's first time participating in the World Cup of Hockey. It was a debut to forget as the White Tigers won none of their six games, drew one (against Iskandervale), and lost the other five. Well, what were the people of Oontaz expecting, given that their nation is half desert and half tropical jungle islands? Still, when a team has been this low, there's nowhere else to go but up...

INTRODUCTION

Nyaryaga is a tiny island nation located in the Arctic, not far off the east coast of Novaya Zemlya. Although the island gained independence a decade ago, Nyaryaga is still widely regarded as a Novozemlyan satellite state. In recent years, the island unfortunately gained some notoriety as a regional center of money laundering and other dubious activities. The only urban settlement on the island, Zapolyarny, is home to some 180,000 people and a single professional hockey club: Zapolyarny Athletic. The team has competed in Novaya Zemlya's Division II for a few years, and Zapolyarny players make up nearly half of the national team.
The national team was formed just recently - as part of a project initiated by the government to improve public perception of the country - and WCoH 34 will be its first ever appearance on the international stage. Expectations are understandably low. The Nyaryagans may have a couple of dangerous forwards, but the lack of depth is an issue and defense and goaltending are both huge question marks.

Espar National Ice Hockey Team
Style modifier: +3.85

Esparmuran is a medium sized, sparsely-populated freezing wasteland. Snow and ice cover the country 24/7, so one of the only outdoor recreational activities one can do in such almost-inhospitable weather is ice-hockey.

The Espar National Ice Hockey Team will participate in it's eleventh World Cup of Hockey. In the 33rd WCoH, the squad bounced back from the embarrassing preceding tournament (where they failed to qualify for the Round of 16) but were unsuccessful in making much of an impact. After losing in the quarterfinals for the fourth time in ten years, the team needs to do something quick. The subsidized company who owns the team, the Espar Recreational Community, has been looking for a reason to pull the plug on the team for a while now, and with fan support slowly dwindling, veterans aging and a new (not really) coach desperately trying to shake things up, there hasn't been a more necessary time for the Espars to finally win gold.

Esparmuran has no nickname for its team. They're boring like that.
Also, because of Esparmuran's tiny population, expect only 10 or so Espar fans in the stands. That said, don't kill any of them (you know who you are).

Presents

'The IBEX'
NEU ENGOLLON NATIONAL HOCKEY TEAM:

The Ibex and hockey in Neu Engollon
There is one professional hockey league in Neu Engollon, the NEHL, with an associated minor league. There is also a strong collegiate tradition in the sport, run by NECA (Neu Engollian Collegiate Association) and the NEHL pull their players from graduates of these top schools along with minor league players. The Ibex are all pulled from the NEHL, or Neu Engollian nationals playing in equivalent foreign leagues. Andre Manon and Ernst Volkzein recently retired from playing for both the Ibex and the NEHL and are in their second year of having the management helm of the Ibex. With the gold won during the most recent Junior World Cup, there is a lot of hope for the future of Neu Engollian hockey that they may get back to the glory of previous years and actually be able to compete on the same level as the top 10 multiversal teams.

Head Coach: Andre Manon
Assistant Coach: Ernst Volkzein
Head Trainer: Samuel Deseaux

Go crazy, but don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory. However, expect reciprocation if you injure/kill my players. Also, if you mention my country in an RP but don't call it by its full name (i.e. "Gregoryisgodistan" without any special formatting in the middle) please TG me to give me a heads up.You don't need to wait for permission and I might not even reply. I often search for my country's name so I can respond to RP's more easily, but if you don't mention it by name, that doesn't work. You can also mention it by name in an OOC note somewhere in the RP instead of TG'ing me, since then it will show up in a search. If for whatever IC reason you decide to strike the "isgod" in the name of the nation, as in Gregoryisgodistan, that will not suffice as notification as it will not show up in the search. In that case, TG me or mention my name without the strike either IC-ly or OOC-ly somewhere in your RP. If the formatting effects the whole name (i.e. Gregoryisgodistan, it will still show up in search, so you don't need to do anything else.

Actor 81248D8J is well-known for playing Doybert on the hit TV show "Costa Lunians Say the Darndest Things"..... Enemy Crusher Porky "Fatso The Third" McFattel comes from a long family of Enemy Crusher goaltenders, most of whom have been executed or murdered for crushing.... Enemy Crusher Krushallah Krushdumpy is the fattest enemy crusher at 930 pounds. He was formerly known as Enemy Crusher Krushallah Krushsaintland until he changed his name to reflect Gregoryisgodistan's alliance with West Saintland (which the Gregoryisgodistani government refers to by its official name of Kingdom of Saintland) and the hatred of Dumpy O'Rumpy of the Free Republics. He kept his name after Dumpy resigned claiming mind control by a demon since everyone knows Lord Almighty Gregory is the only God so he's obviously lying.... Enemy Crusher Crushallov St. Lind also changed his name, to Enemy Crusher Crushallov Dafree Republics, to reflect the new political situation.

We will wear dark uniforms for home matches. For away matches, if our opponent wears a dark uniform, we will wear white. If our opponent wears white, we will wear our dark uniform.

What's a Pervert Chaser? Sounds inappropriate.
A pervert chaser is someone whose job it is to chase down those accused of sexually-related crimes, like mooning, nudity, indecent exposure, rape, and molestation, and cut off their private organs, then bring them in for trial, sentencing, and either a fine, slave labor, or execution depending on the offense.

What's a Horse Beater?
One form of entertainment in Gregoryisgodistan is where a Horse Beat beats horses with all sorts of torture devices, like whips, maces, pepper spray, and machetes, until the horse dies a horrible painful death. It is like rodeos, only more gruesome. These horses are randomly caught in the countryside by Horse Snatchers, then sold to Horse Recruiters, who bring them to the Horse Beating Show.

I'm from a country with sapient ponies. Should we be afraid?
Our laws prevent sapient beings from being beaten, but also define sapient beings as humans or intelligent extraterrestrials. So alien ponies need not worry. Earth ponies, on the other hand, could theoretically be caught, but as long as they do not roam the countryside with wild, non-sapient ponies, they should be fine, since horse snatchers typically do not look for horses in hotels or hockey rinks.

What's an Enemy Crusher?
Enemy crushers are very heavy Gregoryisgodistani government agents whose job it is to crush and torture criminals to get them to reveal information. They almost always kill the criminal. Enemy Crushers at the World Bowl and World Cup of Hockey, among other tournaments, crushed to death numerous fans, referees, and opponents. They were then rewarded by the Gregoryisgodistani government.

Should I be afraid?
Just don't anger an Enemy Crusher and you'll be fine.

Which players like to fight?
The pervert chasers, prison guards, and slave beaters are very prone to fights due to their violent professions. Additionally, the Enemy Crushers have been known to crush opposing players, referees, or spectators. This often results in their deaths, much like what happened at the World Bowl. Nobody other than Enemy Crushers are capable of killing anyone, though pervert chasers carry their private-cutting knife with them at all times, and in the event a player, coach, fan, or spectator commits a sexual-related crime during a hockey match in Gregoryisgodistan, they will cut off their privates in the middle of the match. It might even happen in road matches. This will be very painful. So basically, don't indecently expose yourselves and you should be fine.

Willinglsey Arena opened for World Cup of Hockey XXV and was the creation of Lord Almighty Gregory, God of the Multiverse. It seats 9,500, with room for an additional 570 fans of the visiting team to be hung from the rafters. No other visiting fans will be allowed in the arena.

Please refer to players by their full name at all times. For instance, our starting goalkeeper should be Enemy Crusher Porky "Fatso The Third" McFattel and our left wing should be Weatherman 92UDH9111. This follows the typical Gregoryisgodistan naming format, which is title and government ID number, except for government VIPs which are title and name. Use both at all times. Do not just say McFattel or 92UDH9111.

The demonym is Gregoryisgodistani. The ice hockey team is nicknamed the Ice Slaves, and you may use this nickname.
