Team Rainbow: The UnmaskingThe end of the Cold War marked the ended the idea of conflict among major nations. While the world has been able to avoid open conflict among major powers for several decades now, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t seen it’s fair share of violence. Across the globe various terror organizations have shocked nations to their cores with bombings, shootings, and chemical attacks. The average citizen began to fear less about atomic warfare wiping out their country and more about a nail bomb exploding in their subway car.
To combat this, nations from across the globe assembled a top secret international team of men and women who represented the best their nations could offer. Designated as “Team Rainbow”, the task force had the combined talents, intelligence, and resources of the world’s greatest military powers. For nearly two decades, this task force stopped several potentially catastrophic terror attacks, albeit with several hiccups along the way.
While to some the results of Team Rainbow would’ve been seen as worth the cost, to the bureaucrats in charge of financing them, these hiccups served as a reason to eventually terminate the program in 2010. Rainbow’s operators were returned back to their respective nations, some retiring for good while others jumping back into their former careers. Even with the continuance of terrorist activity, the thought of reactivating Team Rainbow never crossed the minds of those with the power to do so. That was, however, until the events of August 25, 2017.
In an event that would later be known as “The Attack”, Washington D.C, Moscow, Paris, Berlin, London, and several other capitals across the globe were hit with coordinated chemical attacks that ended in the death of hundreds and the hospitalization of thousands. It would be several days later when the identity of the attackers were made known. However, this reveal only raised more questions than it answered.
Known only as the “White Masks”, this terrorist organization was far from anything that the world had seen before. Unlike the previous major organizations, this one did not make their ideologies known to the rest of the world and nor did they ever put a face to themselves. Instead, they kept themselves hidden, only coming out of the cracks to further terrorize the world. The only thing that the various intelligence agencies could piece together was that they were professionally trained, well organized, and had the finances to procure whatever tools of terror they wanted.
Recognizing that the conventional means of combatting this organization was off the table, Team Rainbow was officially reactivated under the direction of a woman known as “Six”. Determined not to make the same mistake as her predecessors as well as avenge those lost on The Attack, Six began to assemble to new breed of Team Rainbow Operators.
Comprised of men and women from armed forces, police, and intelligence agencies, Rainbow now possessed the most capable counter-terrorism unit in the world. One with no rules, no boundaries, and no questions asked. The only thing they needed was a target, one that unfortunately presented itself in one of the world’s most prestigious learning centers.
On the morning of November 12, barely a month after The Attack, the White Masks once again appeared to the world to strike fear in their hearts at Bartlett University. Using food trucks to mask their entrance, the terrorists began to release a series of airborne toxins as well as fire upon the helpless university students who were unfortunate to cross their paths.
First Responders were unable to stop the attack, instead being driven back after heavy losses. Team Rainbow was assembled and tasked with eliminating the assailants as well as rescue any survivors that remained.
Gear up, Operator. It’s time to go on a terrorist hunt.Hello, and welcome to Team Rainbow: The Unmasking!
This RP is based off of the popular Tactical FPS Rainbow Six Siege, where the covert counter-terrorism unit is tasked with taking down a massive terrorist group known as the White Masks.
Players will be able to choose a member of any nation’s military, law enforcement, or intelligence agency to combat the terrorists in a variety of locations based on the actual game. Due to the relative lack of existing plot within the game, we’ll have plenty of wiggle room to craft our own story, one that will be filled with lots of gunshots and explosions.
Previous experience with the game is not required, but being familiar with the locations either through playing or watching gameplay is definitely encouraged. It also wouldn’t hurt to possibly use some of the existing game characters as references for your own characters as well.
And for your OP? Well, I’ll try to stay as laid back as possible as long as you don’t act too stupid. If that happens, well, a terrorist might get that random lucky headshot that seems to always happens in the game… Just kidding!

.
Maybe.1. OP and Co-OP have the final say in any decision. Their word is law, so do what they ask you.
2. No Godmodding/Meta-Gaming: This can be defined as playing your character without limitations or having your character know things they couldn't possibly know.
3. Keep things somewhat civil in the OOC.
4. While realism is allowed to be stretched slightly, there are still real world limitations to things, so if you want to carry that ballistic shield, go for it. Just don’t expect to carry much of anything else or be able to move very efficiently with it.
5. No more than 2 Operators from the same organization, and also try to be a bit creative with your choices. Also, your average John P. Law sheriff isn’t going to get a look at from this organization, nor is a fresh recruit.
6. No one-liners. Try to throw in details that add flavor to the RP.
7. You have a 48 hour grace period to get a post in without prior notice. After that, your character is free game to OP and Co-OPs.
8. Most importantly, have fun!

Biography
Raised up in the upper-middle class suburban area of Helsinki, Olavi Jokinen was able to enjoy a relatively peaceful life. As a child he possessed a love for music which followed him into his teenage years as he often found himself behind a turntable at parties as a DJ. He seemed to have a natural talent with putting out just the right kind of beats to make the dance floor always crowded with adolescents fueled on by alcohol and various drugs that were prevalent among the party scene.
As he approached the end of his secondary education, Jokinen planned on continuing on with his career as a DJ when his world came crashing down during a surprise drug raid by the local police force. Finding a handful of different kinds of drugs both in his system and on his person, they charged the young man with possession of illegal substances. While not a life ending crime, the charge brought the fury of Jokinen’s parents upon him.
They insisted that in order to put him on the path to success and away from the party scene that he apply for the National Defense University, the most prestigious university for those seeking a role in the nation’s military. While he was reluctant to do so, Jokinen went through with his parent’s wishes, and thanks to connections that his father had with some of the staff, he was accepted into the university. It was there where he was taught everything he needed to know about warfare.
After four years of schooling, Jokinen officially graduated and began his mandatory service with the Army as an officer. He was assigned to Jaeger Brigade based in the Lapland, where he went under further training to become a Sissi Infantryman, a role equivalent to the American’s Army Rangers. The training took several grueling months to complete, but afterwards Jokinen came out with a much different perspective on his life in general, becoming much more composed and mature than his adolescent self of the past.
After a year of service within the Brigade, Jokinen eventually rose to the rank of Lieutenant where he was given the option to either drop out of service or return to the university for further officer training. He took the latter option and returned to Helsinki where he spent another two years obtaining a Master’s degree in Military Science.
Now the rank of a First Lieutenant, Jokinen looked for new challenges to overcome. He soon found them, as he accepted a position as a second in command within the Special Jaeger Airborne Company, a detachment of the Special Force Utti Regiment. It was with this unit that that Jokinen saw his first live combat against Taliban forces in Afghanistan as part of the international task force sent to stabilize the region. He often found himself assisting soldiers from various nations as they attempted to weed out the terrorist organization from the Middle Eastern country. While there, he was promoted to the rank of Captain due to his performance as a leader.
After three tours there, Jokinen returned back to Finland where a promotion and new assignment awaited him. Now the rank of Major, he found himself in charge of the entire Airborne Company as well as found himself testing out the various new toys that the military were experimenting with.
For him, the most interesting toy was a breaching device that served as both an entry system for operators as well as a disorientation device. Known as the Ukkonen, the device launched several non-lethal grenades that could disable a room full of targets with a barrage of deafening audio blasts that would leave them both unable to hear as well as keep their balance.
So when Jokinen was tasked with raiding several suspected terrorist cells that were located across Finland, he brought along the device with him, a move that proved to be wise as his teams were often able to quickly apprehend the suspects before they could regain their bearings after the blasts.
Unfortunately, like many other nations, Jokinen was unable to prevent the events of The Attack as his own nation came under attack by the White Masks. As the reports of the dead and wounded filled the news, Jokinen vowed to avenge his nation's loss by tracking down the people responsible for the attack.
He was soon given the chance, as mysterious woman approached him shortly after The Attack, offering him a commanding role in a new counter terrorism group. He wasn't given much more details outside of the fact that it was going to be the tip of the spear against the White Masks, but that bit of information he needed to know.
He now finds himself as the commanding officer of Team Rainbow, working with the best the world had to offer. It's up to him to lead the unit to victory, no matter what the cost.
