The Great Californian War OOC

Quick Overview: After the chaos of WW3, many of the US states and territories fell into disarray. Although the United States won the war on paper, the economic disaster following the collapse of China, and the massive amount of left vs right wing rioting, caused the US to fall into chaos. During this chaos, multiple wars brewed between many factions on the west coast. Notably, the Great Californian War was by far the largest. The major factions taking part of this war is the Republic of Jefferson, the Californian Republic, and the Mojave Confederacy. This is the story of the war of the Golden State.

Basics/Rules/Map Guide:
Basics: In this RP you will be taking the roll of a person within a faction, and RP events out with other players. A player cannot control a faction, however they can be a high ranking official if they choose to. These characters will be able to make their own choices, and does not have to be loyal to the faction they start in. Random events and faction decisions will be decided by the OP. Co-Admins will not be able to coordinate events, and will serve to accept applications, and keep the chats in order. If you have any questions about the factions involved for your backstory, please ask the OP for specifics and don't make your own history decisions for an entire faction.

Note: Reservations are allowed, but expire after a three day time period if no application is made.

Rules:
1) Respect OP and Admins. Failure to do so can result in ejection from the game.
2) Do not God-Mod.
3) Please be respectful of fellow players as well.
4) Do not argue on an OP issued ruling. What is done, is done.
5) Do not make more than 2 characters at once. Any more becomes extremely difficult to keep track of.
6) Please no metagaming.

The two silvers represent Reno and Las Vegas respectively, and the blank areas are either still in anarchy from the chaos, or a hellzone between fighting factions. The black line on the outskirts is the RP map game border. You cannot go outside that specified region in your RPing.

Backstory: Kevin Daniels grew up in northern Wisconsin, growing up in a middle family, and spending days and weeks camping with his family in the Boundary Waters and Isle Royale. Camping became a passion of his, and during the summer of his senior year of high school, he hiked the Pacific Crest Trail. This inspired him to go to college out west, attending UC Berkeley as the Third World War erupted. He majored in English, graduating with Master's Degree at the age of 24. Daniels realized that his college deferment would likely by rendered null, and he would be sent to fight.

When his draft notice came in, he burned his draft card, took his camping gear, and hid in the vast national forests, camping and hunting to survive. When the civil wars began, and anarchy took over southern Oregon, Daniels emerged from the forest, and has eked out a living as a travelling storyteller, living out of his backpack, and surviving the anarchy of the new west. He plans to head south to San Francisco, and from there to Chicago via boat or plane, to unite with his family. He is currently handwriting a memoir of his experiences

He was soon sent to an orphanage, and he left the orphanage when he was 18 to work, but he got a degree in business instead, and he got out of school, and started work as a general manager at an office. He soon got involved in politics, and even though he is still a business worker, he wants to go out and get involved in the factions. He is a strong supporter of the Rep. of California.

Ari was born and raised in Berkeley, California alongside his brother, Gabriel. After graduating from high school, in order to pay for college, joined the US Army. He saw several combat tours in Iraq and had rotated back stateside a year before the outbreak of hostilities. Following the expansion of the front into the Korean Peninsula, his unit shipped out to and joined the defending forces in the Siege of Seoul/Battle of Gyeonggi. When the North Korean offensive was finally shattered, they pushed through the 38th Parallel to begin the March North/Pyongyang Offensive. Despite the successes of US forces during the war, Ari became largely disillusioned due to atrocities he witnessed committed by both sides during the war. He returned to California and moved to a more rustic setting in the northern parts of the state and eventually began a supporter of the California National Party. Following the successful independence referendum, while a number of northern California counties began organizing their own referendums to separate from California and rejoin the US, Ari witnessed growing civil unrest in Northern California, particularly after a click-bait, conspiracy-theory website declared that the Californian government was secretly preparing a military offensive to stop the referendums. Despite there being no evidence to support the claims, it fueled tensions and soon after cycles of political violence began occurring. Ari joined with others who were against the secession of the northern counties and formed the California Defense League, a pro-California militia whose stated goal was to prevent harassment of loyal Californians by pro-Jefferson militants. The local governments declared the success of the Jefferson Referendum despite widespread reports of voter intimidation and violence targeting polling stations in pro-California communities. The CDL released a statement calling the referendum results fraudulent and began active resistance to the Jefferson government, targeting in particular the Jefferson militias that were forming the new republic’s armed force. As the civil war began progressing, the CDL began coordinating with the Californian Republican Army as a fifth column inside Jefferson.

Unlike his older brother, Gabriel was always more of an intellectual and was able to gain a scholarship which he used to study computer science and technology. While he often worried about his older brother, he never felt the same call of military service, instead getting a job as a programmer for Sony Computer Entertainment in Fresno, California. As dissatisfaction with the government in DC grew, Gabriel was introduced to the CNP by his older brother. His interest in the organization grew and eventually he began volunteering with them, eventually becoming a volunteer coordinator for the local party. He helped organize signature gathering efforts for an independence referendum for California and later led canvassing and GOTV efforts for the campaign in Fresno, where the city broke narrowly for independence. In the political violence that followed, Gabriel soon found himself in unsure footing as Fresno found itself in a no man’s land as Californian and Mojavan governments contested for control of the Central Valley. He now works as a leader of the political arm of the Pro-California faction in Fresno.
