NS Industry Sectors

I hope and trust nationstates moderators will take note and ideas from this thread to adopt (adapt), modify and implement.

Through nation creation I have noticed that leftist nations receive better industries than rightist nations, who receive furniture restoration, book publishing and information technologies, uranium mining and such, who agrees with me? Who disagrees with me? If so this needs to change and make it even.

While cheese exports and pizza delivery sounds cool, they should get rid of furniture restoration, book publishing and basket weaving and replace them with better industries, on present and future ns nations.

Real world, states, provinces, regional named nations, should get at least or two products they are well known for in real life.

We need better industries like, oil, natural gas, coal, gold and steel industries, construction, sugar, agriculture. If anyone can think of other industry or products that should be added to the nation creation process please post them on this thread, thank you.

Please vote and post on this thread, if you agree or disagree with at least one industry on the poll options that have more than one industry vote for the poll option and post about the one's you agree or disagree with, don't just vote against the option based on one industry, I am trying to fit as many economic sectors into the poll as much as possible.

It's a game, and a satirical one at that. It's not supposed to represent the real world perfectly, and a lot of nations (don't have numbers, but probably the majority) are based loosely on, or inspired by, real places, rather than being based on them to perfection. Ankuran's based very loosely on Belgium (and bunnies). Do I want Ankuran's major industries to perfectly mirror Belgium's? No; I don't even know what they are. Hell, if you take the time to read how they actually measure these stats, it should be obvious that this game's not realistic.

I also can't help but find it kind of humorous that you imply tallying the national pizza delivery rate makes more sense than tallying basket weaving and book publishing.

I'm also with NCR on the poll numbers not being meaningful due to loaded results. I'm actually a fan of book publishing; it makes me feel like Ankuran values knowledge and might also be secretly waging an economic war against Xerox. I would have gladly voted to not change anything if change meant nuking one of my strongest and favorite industries.

Then, as has been said before here and in other threads, implementation would be hard, the suggested industries are already technically in, and this is exactly what factbooks are for. Just want to stress the factbook thing--you're not required to use NS stats in your roleplaying at all.

I am talking about making oil and natural gas industry a potential at random separate category on our nation pages, I think it is not an unreasonable request to make, up to the moderators or whomever decides not up to me.

This thread is not about NS statistics, the only time I like NS statistics is when they favor one of my nations, but I don't use them, I hate NS statistics.

There's a plan to eventually revamp and expand the industries in the game. There's a lot of groundwork to lay and a few problems to sort so I can't give any definite timeline.

Moving this to Technical and removing the poll as changes aren't popularity based.

You must not have read my previous posts correctly were I have stated "that since the time I posted this thread I have done some research on certain nations receiving better industries and seem to be proving myself wrong"

and my previous statement, " but that is not my main point or purpose of this thread" can we please put that silly argument of mine to rest.

For the thread record, these are only ideas and suggestions for the moderators to consider on our nation pages, modify or implement, as previously stated, this is not about having those industries listed on our statistics pages or the rank and quality of those statistics.

I think is not an unreasonable request to make, to have an oil and natural gas industry as a separate potential at random category when we create our nation pages through the nation creation process, over which we don't have any control, since all nations need oil and natural gas, I am not saying all nations would get this industry that would be silly and stupid to say, I am not saying we should have any control over that process.

I think an oil and Natural gas industry would be the main one to request for moderators consideration, since all nations need oil and natural gas. Perhaps electronics industry over information technology, and if the moderators decide to provide both options on the nation creation page process that is up to them not up to me.

I think we need more specific industries on our nation pages through the nation creation process, these are only ideas and suggestions for the moderators to consider, and they have every right to modify any of these ideas and suggestions, or to not consider any of them.

I understand this game is not supposed to be perfect and is supposed to be funny and exaggerated, but I have an Arab nation famous for oil, with Furniture Restoration and Basket Weaving with no oil, I think it would be nice cool and right for those type nations to have oil on their nation pages, yes not all Arab nations have oil like Egypt, but if an Egypt gets the oil and natural gas industry that would be funny and exaggerated.

" Take a more open minded view of others" I have kind of stated this is not about good and bad industries, this is about a broader selection of industries, their I am taking a more open minded view of others, I even invited all nations to post their own ideas and suggestions of other and more specific industries on this thread.

There's not really anything to discuss. An industry overhaul is definitely on our radar, but we have to work through the problems.
