Retro Gaming Thread!

Postby KiraKira Land » Thu Aug 17, 2017 8:54 pm

I thought I would make a thread dedicated specifically to retro gaming, as I couldn't really relate to the conversations about modern games in the other gaming thread.

So vote for your favourite retro game console above!
And tell me what are your favourite retro games?

Favorite retro game has been flopping back and forth between Thracia:776 and Genealogy of The Holy War.

I really like GoTHW's story but T776 has better gameplay.
Debates on the internet lead to vastly unresearched opinions masked as arguments, inversely debate in person leads to more educated and researched arguments. You have a super highway full of information, use it.

hey teens if a youtuber is making life simple and understandable then he or she is lying.

Feel free to tg me about music.

Why no Gamecube or 64 in the poll?

I own everyone Nintendo systems save for the Switch. Also own a 360, and PS 1 AND 2 (Okami is best Zelda clone)

It shall be a freaking miracle if I can somehow get a SNES Mini....STAR FOX TTWWWWOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

I couldn't fit every system (too many options), so I decided to choose only the 8 and 16 bit era consoles. But I included an Other option so if your favourite is Gamecube or 64 (or anything else), you can choose the Other option ^^

I have a Gameboy (original), GBA and Famicom, as well as PS2 which I got at a junk shop for around 5 USD (yes really, and it works perfectly after only cleaning).

I used to have the N64 and Gamecube too back when they were still new. And a GameBoy Light.. And also a strange Famiclone in the shape of a controller you plug to your TV, along with many other bootleg consoles like that (bootlegs fascinate me a lot).
But I sold them along with many of my old collections, which I regret very much..

One of my prized possessions in my current gaming collection is my Atari 2600 which I ordered from eBay. I still have to finish fixing the paddle controllers, as they suffer from jitter.. It is sitting there on my work-table still, partly dismantled..
But I can still enjoy playing Defender, which is my second favourite Atari game in my current collection besides Breakout.

Although it's technically a personal computer, my most wanted system is the Commodore 64. Well, anything that loads the games from cassette tapes would be awesome, but for some reason the Commodore 64 fascinates me the most.

I'm old enough to consider N64 not retro. :p

I still love me some GoldenEye...

While I could kind of understand N64, and maybe the original Playstation, it's still shocking for me that some people consider things like xbox 360 and PS2 retro.. But then I remember, they were both made over a decade ago.

When I think of retro gaming, I think mostly of 8-bit and 16-bit games primarily, and that's what I have the most experience with personally.

Times are ever changing... Even today's era will be considered retro in time..
Soon we will just have to refer to eras of gaming by their Generation, to avoid confusion.
