Night Eternal: Hexley Hall

Postby Nuridia » Thu Aug 17, 2017 3:24 pm

The year is 2017, the place, somewhere in the western US.

“They’re just a myth, it’s not like these things exist. It’s only fairy tales.”

Is what most modern people would say these days. I mean what sane person believes in dragons, mermaids and fairies when we have all these modern scientific proofs that they aren’t real? It’s not like anybody’s actually seen one.
Well my friend, some things are invisible by choice but that don’t mean it’s not real. “Mythical creatures” aren’t so mythical after all. They are one hundred percent bonafide real, and more tied to our sheltered modern world than you think. Witches, wizards, magic...even the undead. They are all real. Yes, vampires exist.

A long time ago, the kingdoms of the mer, fairies, elves and other creatures roamed the earth freely and dominated it, they co-existed and sometimes even mated with humans. But humans started to get greedy and take over the earth and started to fear their magical neighbors, driving the Fair Folk into near extinction and blotting them from the pages of history. The Fair Folk found a brand new world where they flourished once again, but never again appeared to all but their chosen humans, until now. The magical folk live on the same Earth as modern humans, it's just that the supernatural have learned how to keep themselves hidden in mostly magical communities.

On Earth, there are many hidden gateways to the magical world, and although the magic folk have been content for many years, some are not so content. Some dream of conquering the Earth once again and the few humans that do know of the magic world want to take it for themselves, and that puts both the magical world and modern Earth in grave danger. The magic world isn’t as primitive as you think, many aspects are quite modern it’s just more natural and magical. They raise their children just like a human would do, and have the exact same parenting problems as humans as well. There's always the unruly kids, the "bad" kids. The children who break all the rules and run around unfettered, not giving a flying damn. Showing themselves to humans, reckless magic, just general lawlessness. And like human parents, the parents of these wayward kids are often at a loss as to what to do with them. Since they could expose them all, the governing bodies of the different supernatural species got together and decided to do something about it.

Hexley Hall, founded by the Hexleys, one of the premier magical families of the Magi Council. Known as Hex Hall, this is more than just a school for supernatural kids. This is reform school at its purest, half school and half correction facility, this is the place where the baddest of the bad of the juvenile supernatural delinquents are sent to when their parents can't correct their behavior, ages ten to eighteen. In other words, it can be pandemonium. Although the goal is to correct their behavior and indeed many have come out better, some have come out worse. The current Headmaster, Adrian Hexley decided that the archaic methods of the past weren't really working and wanted to experiment with a more modern approach, and he does so although many of the supernatural traditionalists oppose him.
You are one of the students of Hex Hall. Either you have done some reckless magic, cursed a town, attacked a human in front of other humans, broken magical law, or in some way have threatened to expose the magical world/endangered it. So your parents sent you here...so what will you do? Will you be a better person and convince others to do the same? Or revel in your wickedness and maybe even start your own group to take over the school and world, the choice is up to you. Mayhap you're a teacher, trying to help these children or secretly recruit them to your cause? The possibilities are endless.

May add more creatures and stuff later, but since I'm having trouble coming up with lore for everything I'll just make an app for that. This was inspired by an idea from Harbetia so shout out to them for that. :) I'm just expanding on it using my own ideas.

Umbra Court- The governing body of vampires throughout the world in my universe. The word umbra means shadow in Latin. There are seven Vampire Lords for each of the vampire populations of the seven continents (including Antarctica), and the Grand Master, leader of the Court and by extension the ruler of all vampires, occupies the Obsidian Throne. Elected by the vampire lords, whom present the votes of the vampires in their territories plus their own vote, the Grand Master-elect must go through seven trials to prove that they have the power that it takes. The finale after that is to duel the previous Grand Master in combat, usually to the death. If the elect wins, they are officially sworn in as Grand Master. The court meets every new moon and every full moon.

The Umbra court was first created when the original eight vampire lords who represented the interests of their continents, tired of the abuse of power from their tyrannical king overthrew him in an act of war and made themselves a council of equal representation. The leader would be the Grand Master, who was a powerful leader but did not have the absolute power of the ancient kings and was answerable to their peers. At any time the court could call a council of war and vote out the Grand Master for incompetence or abuse. The crown of the king was split into eight pieces, seven for the seven lords and the eighth for the master, which served as a reminder that the power is divided among them all. A Grand Master has absolute authority only during times of war. Dracula has been only one of two Grand Masters since nobody has been able to beat him in the final duel, until Claudia did and became the new and third Grand Master. It's hard even getting elects because most of the vampires in a territory typically only vote for their lord. And each lord usually only ever votes for themselves. You can't be Grand Master and a Lord at the same time so somebody must replace a lord if they become master.

The symbol of the Umbra Court is a crescent moon and the dark part, or umbra surrounded by a gold circle with seven rays. Gold is the color of power and the circle symbolizes that the power is all encompassing, meaning that it covers all equally and all the lords wield equal power. The seven rays mean that the power radiates from them equally and the seven stars come from the seven star shaped pieces of the Crown. The eighth star, the star of the Grand Master is inside of the umbra of the crescent moon. The red color of the crescent moon symbolizes the Blood Moon night on which the Great War was fought.

Undead humans (or other creatures) that feed on blood to survive and have a number of supernatural powers. Turned by a bite, the transformation process lasts four days in which the body dies and heals, and the soul leaves very briefly before returning to inhabit the body again. Vampires come in many skin tones, much more than a human but they are typically pale white, ruddy or dark skin especially if you are an Original or a descendant of one. Because the very first vampires had dark skin to make them less visible at night, or ruddy skin that reddens when they drink blood. Their attractiveness varies, ranging from stunningly beautiful to monstrously terrifying and everything in between, or perhaps a combination of both. Their fangs come in many shapes and sizes, with the classic two fangs where the upper canines once were being the most common. They have long sharp nails and usually have the ability to transform into bats. Rats and ravens too although this is much rarer. Most vampires have glowing eyes in any number of colors, male vampires almost always have dark sclerae. Female vampires can have this trait too, although it is extremely rare. Typical powers are super speed, elemental powers, dark form, bat transformation and psychic abilities but this varies from vampire to vampire. Of course sunlight and fire is fatal to them, and garlic can be very crippling. They heal much faster and can take far more damage than humans. Full vampires are only made by being bitten by another vampire, which causes the mortal to functionally die and then they are undead when their transformation is complete, as their soul and life force is bound to their body even though many of the life functions no longer work. Although they do need to feed, that is a must. They starve if they do not. Or even worse, go into a frenzy and attack any creature that's nearby. Any creature can become a vampire if they are bitten by one, and many human vampires have vampiric animals as companions. Vampires can't feel pain unless being burned, and don't feel cold unless it's extreme.

The offspring of a non-vampire and a vampire, a hybrid. The most common being human-vampire. However it can also be elf/vampire, dwarf/vampire, a child of any non-vampiric sentient race conceived with a vampire counts as a dhampir. According to the rule, dhampirs are "rare and deliberate." Since vampires are undead and therefore can't conceive naturally, the half human child has to be deliberately conceived on the vampire's part...usually aided by complicated and powerful magic. The ritual required to conceive a dhampir is very dangerous, the vampire (or human woman, in case a human is the one bearing the child) often doesn't survive it. Very few dhampirs survive it too, usually stillborn with monstrous, jellylike bodies or die shortly after birth or in the womb. The ones that do survive however appear as typically an eerily beautiful or strange looking humanoid. The second only known way to make a dhampir is for a vampire to bite a pregnant woman, turning her into a vampire and the child inheriting some of that vampire blood. Why it doesn't turn them both fully is unkown.

Dhampirs typically have prominent vampire features, such as glowing eyes (oftentimes dark sclerae in males, just as in male vampires), long fingernails and fangs. They have the ability to eat normal food and blood, usually subsisting on a combination of both. There are differences though such as their more human colored and warmer skin, the fact that their heart pumps blood and that they can die by human weapons. Unlike their full vampire parents, dhampirs can feel typical pain, cold, warmth and other human sensations. They also bleed if cut, full vampires do not. Dhampirs can also cry and feel sexual sensation without the aid of magic. They typically have vampiric powers, but usually watered down versions. They can go out into the sun without dying, however it is very uncomfortable for them without sunscreen and if they stay over two hours with no sunscreen they start to sunburn really bad (darker skinned dhampirs have far less of a problem with this). A dhampir can choose not to drink blood after they are weaned (they drink a combination of blood and milk as infants) but drinking blood does heighten awareness and make them stronger. Wizard dhampirs, who are the children of vampires and mages are much more powerful than a standard dhampir because in addition to vampiric abilities, they inherit the magic of their mage parents. However dhampirs often have it tough, being considered an abomination by both pure vampires and many non-vampiric races alike, feared by humans and shunned by vampires. There are some who consider dhampirs as the best of both worlds, or even lucky, but the attitude isn't common.

The Nightlands are the most feared region of the magical world. A dark, foggy shadowy realm where the sun never rises. It shines on every other place in this fair continent but never in those lands. Nobody knows when or why the sun disappeared from the Nightlands, but the common story was that the head of the elf-magi Circle was stricken with grief over the death of his beloved wife, a moon-elf. Coming to the place where she had fallen, it is said that he unleashed his magic in an uncontrolled blaze attempting to end his own life, in despair and anger cursing the land to only see the moon, the image of his beloved's face. He died in a great explosive burst of magic, and being a very powerful mage (perhaps the most powerful during that time), the scorching heat of his curse burned the land as well, turning it from lush and fertile to craggy and cold. That the magic seeped from his bones all around this area and after that, the land was forever shrouded in darkness, the only lights are the moon and whatever light the citizens bring. Only vampires and other night-loving creatures call this place home voluntarily, and it became one of the most dense concentrations of vampires in the entire land. Eventually the rulers of the kingdoms decided to use it as a penal ground, the worst of the worst criminals from every race are sent to there. Those who have committed murders, rapes, those with life sentences. Those who DON'T become prey for the undead population living there oftentimes wish that they had.

Mostly malevolent entities that are the residents of hell (this is Dante style, with nine layers). They have a huge hatred toward Heaven (most of them) and often try to dissuade, prank or outright exterminate humanity, for example the Black Death was totally their fault, but some find them fascinating and even breed among them. The first demons were angels whom rebelled against God and as such they have no love for the big man upstairs. However most demons now are born in hell, rather than cast down here as they evolved into a separate species from the angels. They come in many forms and shapes but usually their true form is a human with horns and bat like wings as well as perhaps a tail and some animal-esque limbs/features. Their facial features and hair/eye/skin color are far more variable than an angels or humans. They are usually responsible for human ills and sins, they really don't do it because they hate humans but some do, they do it to piss off heaven. Demons, like angels are immortal and powerful, and can also change shape at will to whatever they desire but most turn their talents to evil rather than good, not all of them though. They also have a hierarchy like the angels, although they don't really have specialized jobs tied to their rank, but tied to their function.

King/Queen of Hell: The ruler of hell and the one in charge of all the demons, they are the most powerful of all of them usually and the next ruler is usually determined by whichever child of theirs can defeat them.

Princes/Princesses: The high ranking children of the king or queen, usually of pure demon blood but sometimes half-bloods can be made so by their parents.

Viceroys: They're officials, they're next in line to be king or queen if anything happens to the heirs and their function is akin to a duke and enforcer, they protect the king or queen and rule in their stead if they can't.

Lords: The rulers of the layers, they are in charge of the punishments of whatever soul is unfortunate enough to get sentenced to their layer as well as in charge of the demons that reside there, they answer to none but the rulers.

Knights: Guardians of the Lords and the bulk of the military.

Daemons: They are the junior rank, they're the ones who go out into the world and cause havoc and trouble and are responsible for most of the problems that humans suffer.

Extremely powerful immortal beings of light created by God, angels' true forms are extremely beautiful winged humans surrounded with a radiant glow, but they can change their shapes at will. Most humans are overwhelmed by an angels' true form, so they disguise themselves when they go out. Their wings are large and feathered, and come in as many shapes and colors as there are birds on Earth, perhaps even more. Most are a stickler for the rules, they do their assigned jobs and they love their lives in heaven. Although they accept humans as their charges, most angels look down on them to a certain degree because of the way they "sin" and they absolutely loathe demons. They vary however as much as humans do and angels have their own vices. Not all of them are these perfect immortals however, some go rogue. Fall and become humans and/or demons, or are punished for breaking Heaven's rather strict laws. Most angels are terrified of Falling, however some are jealous because their lesser kin have more free choice than they do. They observe a strict hierarchy, and can be promoted although this is difficult. Each rank is headed by a chief, and angels can have several titles at once even though the ranks may conflict (for example, Raphael is the Chief of Cherubs, Michael is the Chief of Powers, and Uriel is the Chief of Thrones even though they themselves are archangels)

Hierarchy of Angels: http://failmacaw.tumblr.com/post/689362 ... hic-for-my

Seraphim: The highest rank, also known as the Burning Ones they are the guardians of God's throne. A seraph has six wings and they are said to be so radiant that no human being can look upon their true forms without burning. Even lesser angels have a hard time staring directly at them.

Cherubim: They are protectors, warrior guides and guardians who attend directly upon God. Fierce and bright, they are guardians of all sorts, of gates, of spiritual sanctuaries, and of temples. Usually wield flaming swords. They are in charge of keeping harmony and wisdom in balance

Thrones: The angelic judges, they are the symbols of divine authority and justice and they make up the heavenly high court. Their jobs are to enforce laws, hand down verdicts and judge and punish the condemned.

Dominions: They are angels of intuition, leadership and light, they are the intellects and inspirers and give guidance to younger and lower angels as well as artistic and intellectual guides to humans. They favor creativity and wit.

Virtues: Angels of choice, direction and motion, they are the guardians of free will and pathways. They are in charge of making sure that the right path is chosen by their charges, as well as creating, navigating and clearing pathways of morality and physical paths.

Powers: Angels of power and defense. These are your warriors, your soldiers and your fighters. They protect and guide warriors and military personnel as well as assist in spiritual and physical battles. They inspire military tactics and help with outcomes of war. They are the protectors and keepers of history as well as heaven's defense force.

Principalities: Angels of nations, they are the angelic princes/princesses that protect and guide empires and nations. They are said to be the ones that went down to earth and educated the very first leaders. They are also in charge of leaders and counsel, they guide and select leaders and rulers as their charges and inspire them to be great.

Archangels: Chief angels, these are the angelic rulers that stand in God's presence and act as His emissaries, they are the protectors of human life and the ones that read and carry out divine decrees. Seven are known by name, all their names end with the suffix el-meaning God/of God.

Michael: Chief of Powers and the commander of God's armies. He is the military leader and top warrior of Heaven, and the one who led and won the last two Great Wars as well as kicked the devil out of heaven personally. Considered to be the greatest warrior and general that ever lived as well as the highest of the archangelic princes. He's highly protective of his siblings and often has to break up their squabbles as he's the oldest and most powerful, although they mostly get along (most of them).

Gabriel: God's messenger, he's in charge of delivering all the most important messages and making sure that they are heeded. He has a trumpet, the Horn of Gabriel. When he blows it, it either is signifying the Apocalypse or the arrival of God Himself (or a very important message)

Raphael (reserved for me): Heaven's Chief Doctor, the Archangel of Healing. He is one of the few angels that truly cares for humanity and their suffering, has interceded on their behalf many times. The greatest healer in the universe and the only one with the power to truly restore life, he's the one who healed the Earth after the last Apocalypse (the Flood/Giants). Kind, gentle and caring with a seeming endless amount of patience, he loves all his siblings but Michael is his favourite brother and the two have the closest bond to one another than to the others.

Uriel: The Judge, Uriel is the archangel of repentance, judgement, vengeance and punishment, he is in charge of trying, judging and condemning the guilty as well as overseeing repentance and carrying out the divine retribution.

Chamuel: The angel in charge of love, they are non-binary and often shift between a male and female form, whatever they identify as that day or whatever they feel comfortable with. They are Heaven's matchmaker and are in charge of all forms of love in the universe, romantic and platonic. They help with problems in relationships and encourage things that inspire love. They like their brother Raphael has a very compassionate nature and loves humanity. Chamuel sees beauty in all things, even demons which shocks their fellow angels.

Azrael: The Angel of Death and guardian of the underworld, he is in charge of retrieving the souls of the dead and guiding them to Sheol, the place of the dead where they await judgement. After that he guides them to their destination. When somebody is marked for death, Azrael is sent to go carry out that task and collect their souls which makes him clash greatly with his brother Raphael, although they love one another they don't get along very well because one tries to save lives and the other is in charge of taking them. He gets along better with his oldest brother Michael, as they both have a pretty similar view on death.

Kokabiel: The archangel of the stars. She's Heaven's astrologer and the only (cis) female out of the seven. She is the angel of astrology and is charged with creating and naming new stars, she is said to have taught humans the constellations and have created the first star map. She's the patron of astronomers, astrologers and astronauts/space explorers.

Angels: The lowest rank of angels, they are the ones who have the most contact with humanity and guide them through life as well as deliver messages and appear in dreams. This is the place where most of your guardian angels come from.

Witches are almost as reclusive as vampires, sometimes even more so. They are ordinary humans that use magic, but contrary to popular belief they don't all get their magic from deals with evil forces. Most of them just harness natural magic and learn to control it. Magic in this world is an invisible force that only becomes visible when a witch or wizard taps into it, anybody could harness it if they actually had the training and skill but most of them don't want to learn because magic frightens them. And that's why witches and wizards typically distrust normal humans, they've been killing their kind off with witch burnings for centuries and it has driven magic users to try to blend in as best they could. And yes, witches ride brooms (though this isn't their main form of transport in urban areas, most just use cars). Magic in this world is more akin to Charmed magic, the possibilities are endless. You can pretty much do anything with magic, you can't just be OP and you can't do things like destroy a planet or bring back the dead/cause instant death. You also can't generate life with magic either. Although not immortal, witches and wizards are incredibly long lived and can live for centuries.

Elves and fairies, known as the Fair Folk are among some of the oldest of magical creatures. Distinguished by their pointed ears and stunning beauty, they are usually tall, slim and graceful. Fairies tend to have wings, while elves do not. They're immortal and are very skilled in nature and light magic Once in a while they'll mate with humans and produce half-elves. What is included in fairies and elves are dryads (wood nymphs), naiads (water nymphs) and sylphs (air nymphs)

The governing bodies of the Fae. The Seelie court is the domain of the "light, good" fairies and the Unseelie Court is the kingdom of the "dark, evil" fairies. They both reside on Tir na nOg, the original Isle of the Fae, although fairies everywhere belong to one of the courts, or sometimes neutral. Each court has a king or queen, and they are currently at a tentative peace after being at war for centuries, But how long will it last?

App
Name: Myran Krenshaw
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Species: Dhampire
Bio: Myran's trouble started a long time ago- when his family lost their estate to a fire. Since then he has been in a foster care system, tended by unaware and unprepared humans. Moving from place to place, family to family, feeling alien- then came the teens- and turmoil. It turns out that his trouble with empathy, nocturnal preferences, and alienation made for a predatory nature in regards to love interests. Which is how Myran, who had fantasized about being a Vampire since first noting his difference from other youths, started to get in with some pretenders and during a graveyard poetry reading session noticed 'her' - Delbra. At least that's what she went by. Myran doesn't want to talk about it, but his fascination with Delbra, which has faded in light of what transpired, lead to his discovery by the 'powers that be' and arrival here- he's out of any foster system but still has no home and having been flung into what was a fantasy to him has caused him to question the aspects he found attractive of the 'night stalkers'.
Powers/Abilities:
  • Blood Invigorates
  • Supernatural Strength
Personality: Use to have fantasies about the supernatural, now wishes he'd never gotten involved. Dislikes himself and is rather humble when not actually making use of his Vampiric nature- at which point he gets highly confident and becomes a bit of a jerk and overtly aggressive. Yeah he's played around with the idea of being one, but it wasn't till recently that he actually 'morphed' into one as far as he's concerned. Regrets not 'fitting in' but resents 'being put here' and 'removed again'. Feels less then he is at times, but gets carried away with confidence and at times his own powers.
Sexual/Romatic preference (optional): Straight
Goals:
  • Right now, I just want out of this place.
Strengths:
  • Stealthy
Weaknesses:
  • Holy Weapon Susceptibility
Theme Song: SIAMES - The Wolf

I like that idea. The second actually has legs if you look closely. Thanks.

App
Name: Elixabete (pronounced e-LEASH-uh-BET-ah) Bidarte. Goes by Lixa (pronounced LEE-sha). Often refers to herself as and signs her letters with Elixabete van Helsing.
Age: 705 (biologically 17)
Gender: Female
Appearance: Waist length bright auburn hair which she usually keeps braided in a crown around her head. 5'3 with an average build, heart sharpened face, glowing flame colored eyes (light brown as a human), very fair skin and full lips. Considered one of the beauties of the school.
Species: Vampire
Bio: Elixabete Bidarte was born in 1329 in the region of Spain that would later become known as Basque Country. Her parents Aitor and Erlea were farmers who ran an apple orchard and she was their second child, her older brother Erlantz being the first. Her childhood was a simple but happy one, she and her brother would help out in the orchard and sell their apples along with apple related products. They weren't rich but they had each other, and that was all they needed.
When she turned sixteen, Elixabete was betrothed to Gotzon Ibarra, a childhood friend and son of wealthy farmers. He was the village's most eligible bachelor and had chosen Lixa because of her beauty and wit. Although she didn't love him and voiced her misgivings about the marriage, he was a kind intelligent man and she figured they would get along well enough. Plus this was the way of the world for most women of that time.

She could have never known that as her wedding preparations were underway that something would come and put a huge dent in her plans. Not rain, but something much worse. This was the year that the Black Plague started its sweep throughout Europe, and neither man, woman nor child was safe. At first it was confined to England so people didn't worry much, but then it spread. Spread throughout Europe, claiming lives until it one day took Elixabete's betrothed. Then it took her parents, until she herself fell ill. Her brother tried to care for her, but then he himself fell sick and died within hours of his infection taking hold. Now with nobody to take care of her, she was sure that she would die herself. She didn't even care at that point, because she wanted to be with her family. But one night, the deathly ill girl was ripped from her bed, by whom or what she didn't remember, all she felt was a sharp pain at her neck. She didn't want to be ripped apart, and she had very little strength but she managed to bite her attacker on the arm, drawing blood and burn him with the lit candle on her bedside table, they hurried away. She then collapsed on the floor, expecting to die. But little did she know that her attacker was a vampire who tried to feed off her. And because she had accidentally ingested his blood, she wouldn't die a mortal death after all. She didn't know how long she had been out, time seemed to stop. But when at long last she DID wake up, she wasn't in heaven. She was still in her bedroom, and she immediately noticed something different. The plague boils that covered her skin were gone, and she was much paler. Standing up she didn't feel weak or sick, and her sense of smell was keener, her sight sharper. She saw her reflection in a polished pewter dish and let out a scream...she had seen her fangs. She was now a vampire, no longer human. And not able to join her family in death. And her craving for blood disgusted her...she didn't want to be this thing. So she fought it off at first, resisted for days until she could resist no more and drained the chickens in her family's chicken coop. And she realized vampires don't get killed easily...so she resigned herself to wandering the earth alone. Over time she grew used to her new nature, and met a fellow vampire calling himself Alucard. They decided to travel together, the two of them becoming friends and eventually lovers. They are utterly devoted to each other and quite protective, that hasn't stopped some of the other students from trying to flirt with them even though you rarely see one without the other. She and her boyfriend ended up in Hex Hall because they decided to do some crazy shit that they refuse to disclose, and since they're still biologically teenagers it was seen as acceptable.

App
Name: Alucard van Helsing
Age: 710 (biologically 18)
Gender: Male
Appearance: He's 6'1 with white blond, short shaggy hair that brushes the nape of his neck. His glowing eyes are ice blue and he has a slim, lanky build like a wizard. He wears oval glasses and has large hands with long fingers. His skin is so pale that' it's nearly white and his features are sharp and angular.
Species: Vampire
Bio: Alucard doesn't remember much about his mortal life, not even his birth name. But he does remember that he was born in the Netherlands and his last name was van Helsing. His parents were very poor, his mother was a witch and his father kept hogs. But his parents were good to him and tried to raise him the best way that they could. He learned magic from his mother and she also taught him how to read and write, it was his one escape from the worries of his daily situation. His family thankfully wasn't affected by the Black Plague epidemic when it came through, however they did think that it was best that they leave town at least until the plague blew over. As they were fleeing the village, they got caught in the crowd of people who were trying to leave too. Alucard was separated from his family in the chaos and when he tried to find them, he ended up falling and being knocked unconscious when he hit his head.
It turns out that he had fallen off a small cliff when they got to the coastline, and when he woke up he was staring into strange but familiar red eyes. When the figure stepped closer into the moonlight he recognized him from his mother's books. Dracula, the Grand Master, the most powerful vampire in existence. Of course the young boy was frightened at first but he knew it would be foolish to try to attack such a powerful being, so he went about trying to find a way out of this situation. But to his surprise, the vampire didn't want to attack him. In fact, he seemed fascinated by this mortal. He made the offer to come with him and Alucard, seeing no way out of this went with him, but always kept his guard up. He stayed in Dracula's castle for a time as a servant, and went to his village to search for his family but was never able to find them again. The powerful vampire was so impressed by this human's intelligence and powers as a wizard however that he decided to teach him the vampire language. He proved to be a quick and eager student, and as time passed Dracula and Al have come to view each other as father and son figures to one another, and respect each other greatly. One night, Dracula offered to turn him...and to his own surprise he said yes. Because the boy couldn't remember his birth name at all, no matter how hard he tried, he decided that maybe a new identity was needed. When his transformation was complete he took Alucard as his first name, in honor of his mentor and father figure. Dracula started to groom Alucard as a potential successor, and even introduced him to the Umbra Court where he did prove his worth. Many have said that mayhap he has the makings of a vampire lord or even Grand Master. Dracula and Alucard would travel widely together and sometimes even take solo trips on their own. Although he loved his surrogate father, Alucard was lonely. When in Vienna however he met a Basque vampire named Elixabete, who was torn between acceptance and loathing for her state. He decided to speak to her, and the two had a conversation. They discovered that they actually had quite a bit in common, and after a while of meeting up decided to travel together. Alucard brought Lixa to Dracula's house, and after a tense first meeting he actually approved of this cunning, charming girl. Alucard and Elixabete fell in love, eventually becoming lovers. They have been by each others' sides for centuries and are completely and utterly devoted to each other. You rarely ever see them separate, and they carry themselves like they're married. They even share a dorm in Hex Hall, which they came to by circumstances they refuse to disclose (let's just say that being eighteen for seven hundred years doesn't stop you from doing immature eighteen year old shit, mmkay?) The incident made Dracula send them both to the school, quietly to avoid a scandal. Hopefully this will straighten them out, because Al still has plans on winning the trials and succeeding his adopted father one day.
